Alex Jones does not read the primary sources he cites but instead relies on headlines and links provided by others like John Fleetwood.

I noticed that this is pretty much all John Fleetwood's stuff, and it made it click for me that this is like Alex is reading off this headline about therapeutics and he thinks it's about virus. The vaccine, excuse me, it made me understand that. He doesn't understand the story he's covering at all, and he's making it up as he goes along. But part of that Fleetwood blog post about shedding included complaints about the use of remdesivir as one of the therapeutics people were trying in relation to Ebola. And he links to that New England Journal of Medicine article that Alex thinks is about vaccines. It seems clear to me that John Fleetwood just sent all this over to Alex. He didn't read the therapeutics article nor John Substack posts and has just made up his own story about it.

Media literacy education for Gen Z focuses on safety issues like sending nudes rather than responsible information consumption.

But if I had to guess, I would say that a lot of media literacy targeted at Gen Z has not been focused around, like, how to consume information responsibly or, like, as focused on misinformation at all. I think it's probably been, like, don't send nudes, you know? Like, I think that's the majority of, like, internet education for teenagers.

Fox News viewers are less informed about current events and more likely to believe misinformation than viewers of other news sources.

There was a famous survey that was done about a decade back that found that Fox News viewers were the least informed about current events in politics, while Daily Show and NPR viewers were the highest. And just last year, a survey found that Fox watchers were vastly more likely to believe misinformation about climate issues than people who got news from other sources.

The article Glenn Spencer cited was a satirical piece by Joel Stein, not a sincere source.

After I had posted, quote, That Jews do in fact control Hollywood sure the op-ed he's talking about is a satirical op-ed written by noted humorous Joel Stein The article launches off from an ADL poll that found out That only 22% of Americans thought Jews controlled Hollywood right and Joel thought that number was way too low Yeah, one of the tip-offs That maybe this isn't an article you should be taking as a sincere source about anything is the clear humor-based tone, like in this part.

Alex Jones reports satirical articles as real because he does not read the content of the articles he cites.

Anyway, Alex not only doesn't understand the difference between an editorial and a news story, he also can't tell when articles are sincere or if they're satire because he doesn't read any of the stuff he reports on. If all you know about the article here is the headline, you'd report it like Alex does because he's stupid and lazy. And he's reporting a satirical article as real.

The TikTok creator presenting these conspiracy theories lacks the ability to distinguish between fantasy and reality.

This kid exists where there is no... There's no distance between them. There's never any distance between a joke and reality. There's no distance between fantasy and reality. It's all the same thing. So he doesn't believe this. But at the same time, he does believe it. But at the same time, he doesn't believe this. This is insane.

Alex Jones's information allows listeners to create a web of information in their minds and discern from the news rather than just hearing it.

The information that he throws out there, I mean, it's because of your information, Alex, that I no longer just hear the news. I create a web of information in my mind, and it is so liberating. I can't tell you how liberating it is to be able to discern from the news, not just hear the news.

Alex Jones and others treat science fiction movies as real documentaries rather than elucidating trends of the human condition.

That's the connection. They all think that sci-fi is real. So. Sci-fi is nothing but the dreams of men. Sci-fi is the dreams of men. All deal with sci-fi as like a documentary as opposed to elucidating trends that are part of the human condition.

Alex Jones does not understand fiction and assumes audiences cannot distinguish between fictional narratives and reality.

He's furious at fiction stuff because he thinks that other people will think it's real because his mind can't integrate reality and fiction. He thinks everybody's brain works like his, or they're just so stupid that they'll think anything that they see in fiction is a depiction of reality.
