And he was saved by legendary televangelist W.A. Criswell. The guy who established or turned the First Baptist Church of Dallas into basically the first megachurch.
In fact, Billy Graham was a member of Criswell's church. Like, he brought Billy Graham into the fold. And then he went, turned heel.
So, Criswell creates the modern megachurch, basically. And he's doing this to build a compound. He is not building a megachurch. He's building, like, a complete city. Sort of like Jim Baker's Morningside? Exactly. Jim Baker is a fan of Criswell. Yeah, everybody is. But this is from, to give you an idea, this guy is creating a Christian separatist compound, essentially, and this is from a sermon he gave in the 80s.
In Europe, in Western tradition, at the time, because of the church, adult baptism was illegal. You had to baptize every baby because what if they die before they're an adult? Adult baptism was illegal? Yes, absolutely.
That's that whole fundamentalist tradition of Eve's fall. You know, like that sort of thing. Adam would have been fine if it wasn't for Eve. Right. That's where this controlling of women in religions historically roots from.
Because in the last hundred plus years, the World Council and National Council of Churches has globalized the Christian faith and come in and taught new dogmas that were not known in Christianity ever.
