Decades ago, it was pro-gun. Today, its job is disarming the American people. They go into federal courts. They botch cases. They go after groups that are really pro-gun. They're there to neutralize the five-plus million members to pacify them. They've been overtaken.

Well, let me ask you, if that's true, if you believe that, and if you would never register your guns or support any move to register our weapons, do you belong to the NRA? And if you do, why? Because let me tell you something right now, folks. If you belong to the NRA, you have already registered your guns.

The literature says, join the NRA and protect your right to hunt. You know, it's going to be easy to get rid of the guns, folks. If they can convince the legislatures to pass laws protecting animals, then gun ownership is connected with the killing of those animals.

But everybody who's informed knows it was founded to arm blacks to fight the Ku Klux Klan.

The NRA's website says, quote, Dismayed by the lack of marksmanship shown by their troops, Union veterans Colonel William C. Church and General George Wingate formed the National Rifle Association in 1871. The primary goal of the association would be to, quote, promote and encourage rifle shooting on a scientific basis.
