People who commit that category of crimes provoke a visceral, violent response in people that has a tendency to blur out critical thinking. So using these accusations is tremendously powerful, which is why the Trump campaign promised we're going to bring vengeance to all these people.

Trump literally ran on that particular promise, which he couldn't even do.
