Buddhism is a product of nature. It's the default setting in people. It inevitably becomes violent.

So instead of that, it was DMT. It was full of content. People were interacting with it. Their sense of self is maintained, which was not at all consistent with the Buddhist model that I brought to bear.

There are many examples of Buddhist ideas around mercy and compassion, and the Muslim tale The Conference of Birds from the 1100s gives a pretty resonant story that's been immortalized in art like the painting A Ruffian Spares the Life of a Poor Man.

Life is suffering.
