Democrats Want Race Talk
00:02:18
|
|
| Hello, I'm Jared Taylor with American Renaissance. | |
| Liberals always tell us we need to talk about race. | |
| In his second term, Bill Clinton decided that his legacy should be all about the wonderful things he did for black people. | |
| He launched something called the President's Initiative on Race that issued a fancy report: One America in the 21st Century: Forging a New Future. | |
| I don't think anyone ever read it. | |
| President Obama's Attorney General, Eric Holder, called us a nation of cowards because we won't talk honestly about race. | |
| At the time, I wrote him and offered to talk honestly about race with him any time. | |
| He never wrote back. | |
| Now, Democrats want to put race at the heart of the 2020 presidential campaign. | |
| Last month, Vox complained that Democrats didn't talk enough about racism in their first primary debate. | |
| Well, sure enough, in the second debate, Senator Kamala Harris said, I would like to speak on the issue of race, before she tucked into Joe Biden. | |
| So-called anti-racism educator Tim Wise explained in the Washington Post last week how Democrats can beat Donald Trump in 2020. | |
| Don't worry about policy. | |
| Just talk nonstop about racism and turn the election into a moral campaign. | |
| So Democrats want a conversation about race? | |
| Well, they just got one. | |
| Over the weekend, Donald Trump tweeted about Elijah Cummings, who represents Baltimore. | |
| Cummings District is a disgusting, rat- and rodent-infested mess. | |
| If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous and filthy place. | |
| The president added that Mr. Cummings District is considered the worst run and most dangerous anywhere in the United States. | |
| Well, Democrats erupted into the only kind of conversation they ever have about race. | |
|
Baltimore's Grim Reality
00:04:24
|
|
| They screamed. | |
| Bernie Sanders called Donald Trump a racist president. | |
| Well, oddly, in 2015, he sounded just like Mr. Trump after he took a walk through the city. | |
| The fact of the matter is, is that America is the wealthiest country in the history of the world. | |
| But anyone who took the walk that we took around this neighborhood would not think you | |
| Mr. Trump also got a scolding from David Simon, who started the TV series The Wire. | |
| It's about Baltimore drug crime, and it makes the city look pretty grim. | |
| Mr. Simon wrote this: You dope. | |
| The show addressed itself to the systemic and historical forces arrayed against the American city for generations. | |
| It wasn't so submoronic as to argue that one U.S. representative could be held accountable for U.S. urban policy or lack thereof. | |
| For that, we require Trump. | |
| Systemic and historical forces. | |
| That's the problem. | |
| As usual, it's our fault. | |
| Well, this didn't stop Mr. Trump. | |
| He tweeted a video of Baltimore's dilapidation. | |
| And he taunted Elijah Cummings about the city's sky-high crime rate. | |
| But back to what The Wire said about crime. | |
| Here's a little scene from the show. | |
| This city's going to hell, man. | |
| We're going to push past 300 murders before New Year's. | |
| Shit is fucked. | |
| In The Wire, which ended in 2008, 300 murders a year was a nightmare scenario for the future. | |
| Well, it's been over 300 for the last four years, and this year could well set an all-time record. | |
| Baltimore has the highest murder rate of any big American city. | |
| At 56 per 100,000 people, it's higher than in Guatemala, Honduras, or El Salvador. | |
| Elijah Cummings is constantly yelling about how we have to let people in from these countries because they are escaping violence. | |
| Well, I guess he expects them to go to your district, not his. | |
| Much as liberals would love to, it's hard to blame Baltimore's problems on white people. | |
| 65% of the people are black, and blacks run the place. | |
| It's had just one white mayor in the last 30 years. | |
| Until May, the mayor was Catherine Pugh, who resigned because she was corrupt. | |
| A white TV journalist, Mary Bubala, pointed out that Baltimore had had three black women mayors in a row. | |
| Two resigned because of corruption, and the third presided over the worst race riots in 50 years. | |
| Ms. Bubala asked the obvious question. | |
| Is this a signal that a different kind of leadership is needed? | |
| Well, she was fired. | |
| A year before that, black police commissioner Daryl D'Souza resigned for failing to pay taxes. | |
| He's now in jail. | |
| The new commissioner is, of course, black. | |
| The new deputy commissioner is white. | |
| And he was mugged at gunpoint just last week. | |
| Clearly, it's a great place to live. | |
| And while we're at it, 13 of Baltimore's 36 high schools have zero students proficient in math. | |
| Zero. Ninety percent of black boys in the city can't read at grade level, and virtually every black baby born in the city is illegitimate. | |
| The local paper, The Baltimore Sun, of course, joined the anti-racist chorus against Mr. Trump. | |
| It brushed off the rat problem in an editorial with the childish title, Better to have a few rats than to be one. | |
| Well, not so fast. | |
| Animal Planet says Baltimore is the third worst rat city in the world. | |
|
Why Can't We Have Decency?
00:01:48
|
|
| In 2018, PBS aired a documentary on the rat plague in Baltimore called Rat Film. | |
| And when it's not raving about racism, the Baltimore Sun actually has a few lucid moments. | |
| Believe it or not, in 2016, it ran an op-ed with the title, Trump's Right. | |
| Declare Baltimore a disaster and rebuild it. | |
| Just don't criticize our black congressmen. | |
| And just this April, The Sun had a directly rat-related editorial called Baltimore's Perpetual Trash Problem. | |
| The first sentence asked the question, why can't we have a clean city? | |
| The editorial actually answered that question. | |
| And I quote, too many people need a lesson in basic decency. | |
| You see, deep down, they know. | |
| Mr. Trump tweeted about one congressman and his district. | |
| He didn't mention race. | |
| It's the liberals and the Democrats who suddenly started screaming about race because they know who needs a lesson in decency. | |
| They know who's doing the killing, who's nodding out on drugs, who's wrecking the schools, and who's in the flash mobs that terrify tourists. | |
| They just don't want anyone talking about it. | |
| If you do, you better say it's all the fault of white people. | |
| President Trump was blaming Democrats, and that's more than enough to send them into hysterics about race. | |
| Now, if only Mr. Trump would talk about, well, I don't want to get this video banned, but the President of the United States can talk about anything, they're already calling him a fascist and a white supremacist and a rat. | |
| What's he got to lose? | |
