Get ready for an outstanding entertainment program.
The Jimmy Dore Show.
Hello, Chuck Schumer.
Senator Schumer, it's Jimmy Dore.
Well, hello there, James.
How are you this fine day?
I'm doing well, Senator.
Thanks for asking.
Look, I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions.
Well, of course you can.
I'm here to serve the people of New York, but I've still got 10 minutes for my friend Jimmy.
What do you think of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's primary victory last night, Chuck?
Who?
Alexandria Casio-Cortez.
Rick Okasich, I'm sorry, you're breaking up.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the 28-year-old New Yorker who defeated Joe Crowley and now probably will be the youngest woman ever elected to Congress.
I'm sorry, I don't defeated Joe Crowley.
Oh, her.
Yes, right, right.
Well, what do you think?
Well, first of all, congratulations to her.
I'm sure she will enjoy Washington and its vibrant nightlife.
And we look forward to working with this very young and very lovely new legislatrix.
What does lovely have to do with anything?
What?
Am I wrong?
Look at her.
It bears mentioning.
Besides, I've always said Latina is my favorite flavor of shiksa.
But, of course, I'm a married man.
You and your fellow New York Senator Gillibrand probably would have preferred a Crowley win, right?
I mean, in fact, she's outright endorsed Crowley.
Well, given a choice, yes, yes, I suppose so.
Joe is on the same page as the rest of us Democrats.
How so?
Well, he believed, as I do, that Trump is best resisted in the House and Senate by establishment Democrats.
Those of us long in the tooth enough to know the ins and outs of legislation and how things work.
Let us take care of things.
Some of these younger, hard-left people, they resist the resistance.
Don't resist the resistance, Jimmy.
We've talked about this.
But isn't it good for your party to have some new blood infused into it?
Not if it comes with the expense of knocking a high-ranking establishment Democrat from the House and replacing him not with a Democrat, but a DSA person, a Democratic socialist of America, one of those Rose people who, like you, are more preoccupied with purifying the Democratic Party than resisting.
I mean, have you seen this Trump?
Look at how bad he is.
The things he says.
Some of us would say this is exactly the time to reform the Democratic Party, to create a legislative agenda that would actually win votes against Trump and the Republicans.
Yeah, who's going to do that?
This 28-year-old girl?
Jimmy, a year ago, she was a bartender.
Knowing how to make an old-fashioned doesn't exactly prepare you for party politics, young missy.
Oh, wow.
I know that these young, good-looking, far-left, idealist, absolutist, bossy, insolent firebrands make attractive candidates to the young and naive.
But for my money, I'll take a gillibrand over a firebrand any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Nice wordplay, Senator.
I know that worked out perfectly.
So happy with how that turned out.
Look, the Republicans face political extinction as long as they cling to white supremacy in a demographically changing nation.
Don't you worry that Democrats face a similar extinction if they keep failing to provide a platform that will actually help American lives?
Oh, of course not, Jimmy.
We're the Democrats.
We're the good guys.
Look, we're not perfect, I admit.
Who is?
But we don't abandon pragmatism in the face of political crisis.
Universal health care, abolishing ICE.
These are the right things to do, but they won't happen, so we're not even going to try.
That's pragmatism.
We focus on the things we can accomplish, like calls for civility and getting to the bottom of this whole Russia thing.
What's the deal with that?
But again, the Ocasio-Cortez victory signals that the American public disagrees.
Look, that's one little thing, one little blip.
It's not going to happen in other districts.
No way.
She was considered such a long-shot candidate by you guys and an establishment media that the New York Times never even wrote a story on her campaign.
And she won.
Jimmy, do you expect me to change my viewpoint when presented with contravening information?
I don't even know what an MP3 is.
You're barking up the wrong tree.
Look, we got this.
The Democrats.
We are the resistance, and we're going to beat Trump with hard-nosed civility and compromise.
And the people?
Look, we're the Democrats.
We always serve the people via their duly chosen representatives, the donors.
So get on board or good luck with your little revolution.
Something tells me we're not going to need much luck, buddy.
All right.
Look, I have to go.
I have a meeting with a regular citizen of New York who has requested my time and attention.
And as an elected representative, it's my duty to oblige.
He's a real salt of the earth type.
Regular Joe.
Hasn't let his huge salary as a lobbyist for the pharmaceutical industry get to his head.
We Democrats love guys like that.
It's the Jimmy Dore Show.
The show for...
...the kind of people that are...
Commence maybe on tearing down our nation.
It's the show that makes Anderson Cooper say...
It's hard to talk when you're keybagging.
And now, here's a guy who sounds a lot like me.
It's Jimmy Dore.
Everybody, welcome to the Jimmy Door Show.
We'll see you July 27th in Burbank, California.
Special guest on that show, Abby Martin.
Okay, we'll see you then.
Chicago's just about sold out.
We have five tickets left.
July 15th, thanks to everybody who comes out to the live shows.
It's always great to meet the people who listen to the show.
Hey, let's get to the jokes before we get to the jokes, shall we?
I don't know if you heard Sean Spicer has a new show.
Sean Spicer's new show is going to be called Common Ground, which I suppose for him means behind a bush.
Am I right?
Come on.
Come on, you get it.
You know, this country is like espresso.
Better without ice.
You know, I don't know about you, but I'm a fan of democracy, due process, and religious tolerance because let's face it, I'm into vintage retro stuff.
Hey, I demand to see Donald Trump's long-form civility.
This week, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Donald Trump's travel ban and anti-abortion centers.
So naturally, the first instinct of every establishment Democrat to win over voters is to blame the voters.
There must be some way we can blame all this on Susan Sarandon and Putin so Democrats won't ever have to change.
I think it was Benjamin Franklin who said, fish and moral relativism stink after three days of centrism.
Hey, remember when Ronard Tess changing his name to Meta World Peace was a big story?
Boy, those are the days.
Am I right?
This would really be a more peaceful world if the phrase God-fearing wasn't a compliment.
Yes.
I like how the corporate media is treating the progressive victors in this week's primary like Lord Voldemort.
Media, take note.
Her name is Alexandria Casio-Cortez, and his name is Ben Jealous.
Yeah.
New study, the most effective way for Americans to reduce their risk of getting type 2 diabetes, emigrate.
All right, what's coming up on today's show?
We're going to talk about the progressive victories in Tuesday's primary, especially Alexandria Casio-Cortez, who was a friend of the show.
We had her on the show over a year ago.
We were way out in front on this.
We're going to talk about that.
Plus, the media's failure to cover that.
We'll talk about that also.
Plus, Chris Matthews has some dire words for the Democratic leadership if Trump gets to appoint another Supreme Court justice.
Plus, we have, oh, we have a great little article, how Democrats can save the Supreme Court.
That's coming up.
Plus, we got phone calls today from Chuck Schumer, Chucky the Shoe, Rick Perry, and Jeb Bush.
Plus, a lot lot more.
That's today on the Jimmy Door show.
Hi, everybody.
Welcome to the Jimmy Doer show.
I'm here with Ron Placone and the miserable liberal.
Miserable.
So Justice Kennedy is retiring.
So now Trump is, they say he's going to be able to appoint another Supreme Court justice.
And let's remember why this happened.
Barack Obama was supposed to seat a Supreme Court justice.
Mitch McConnell in the Senate refused to allow him to do that.
And Barack Obama just caved in.
So instead of saying, no, I'm not signing a budget.
We'll shut down the government.
We'll do whatever until you seat my Supreme Court nominee.
He didn't do anything.
And they just didn't see the Supreme Court nominee.
And he handed it to the Republicans.
Barack Obama handed it to the Republicans.
That's what happened.
And there's lots of theories about why he did that.
My theory is that he was giving that to Hillary to use as leverage for people to vote for her because they knew she could possibly lose in the fall.
So they were going to hand that to her to use against the Republican.
Look, Supreme Court, and it still didn't work.
So that's the Democrats screwing the country again.
Again, not making sure that Barack Obama's Supreme Court was sat.
Didn't do it.
Didn't do anything.
Did not make the Republicans pay a political price for that at all.
So now get this.
Chris Matthews, here's Chris Hardball.
He says that this is a problem for the Democrats politically.
That's what he's saying to Chris Kornacky.
Because Chris Karnaki says, well, the Democrats only have 49 votes in the Senate and the Republicans have 51.
So here's what Chris Matthews says.
Oh, in 2016, rather, look what happened.
Hillary Clinton, the establishment candidate, won.
How did she win?
The party.
They had debates during NFL games.
Anyway, they protect her from a serious onslaught from Bernie Sanders.
So he's making the point that how did Hillary Clinton win the nomination in 2016?
The party protected her.
They did everything they could, including scheduling debates during NFL games and on weekends and during Christmas.
That's what he's saying.
You do everything you can.
That's what he's saying.
And the party did it for her.
Completely cheated Bernie Sanders, did everything they could to rig it.
They did, and they won.
That's what he's saying.
Then they go ahead and they lose.
They never even got a vote on Merrick Garland for the Supreme Court.
And now we're talking about having a vote before in the next four or five months, right before a midterm election on this, whoever Trump cooks up.
I don't think the party leadership can survive this.
How do you explain that you couldn't?
I don't think this party leadership can survive this.
He's saying Chuck Schumer, I guess.
Is that who he means?
Chuck She does he mean Nancy Pelosi too?
I don't know.
But he's saying Chuck Schumer for sure.
He says he doesn't think they can survive the Trump.
How do you explain that you couldn't stop it when you have 49 senators?
They just had 50.
You know, just a few years ago.
Look at the way the Republicans have played the rules.
First of all, they said it took 60 senators to approve a Supreme Court justice back two years ago.
And also, that's 60 years.
Then they got rid of that for the new corruption.
And they said, also, we're not going to elect anybody or nominate or confirm anybody in the year before a presidential election.
So they denied confirmation, even hearings, or even meetings with Gary Garland.
So he's saying, look what the Republicans do.
They play hardball all the time, 24-7, up and down, sticking it right in you.
That's what he's saying.
Murray Garland, the Democratic nominee of President Obama.
And so they're playing all these games.
It's 60 votes now.
It's 50.
Oh, by the way, we're not even going to have a vote on it.
And here they come in and they say, well, let's do it nice now.
Let's make sure we have a vote, even though we only have 50 votes to their 49.
Let's have good order here.
It's not going to happen.
If Schumer goes along with that, the whole gang of them are going.
Look what.
So Chris Matthews is saying, if Schumer does play nice, they're all going to be wiped out electorally.
This is what Chris Matthews is saying.
I don't think there's anything the Democrats can't do to lose power.
I mean, I'm just saying that they've done everything horrible, and the leadership remains the leadership.
Nancy Pelosi provided over the complete wipeout of the Democratic Party.
She's still the leader.
Chuck Schumer's still the leader, but this is his theory.
So let's listen to it.
He says if they don't do anything and Trump's allowed to see the right-wing justice, that they'll be out as leaders.
This is what Chris Matthews is saying.
And Joe Crowley yesterday, he's gone.
The left of the Democratic Party, the progressive base of the party, and that's minorities, young people, millennials.
It's also Hispanics, Latinos, African Americans.
They're tired of losing.
They're tired of losing.
What I'm trying to get to the bottom, what I'm trying to get to the bottom of with you is this.
If every Democrat adopts the posture you're talking about, fights this, makes all the points you're making, and they stand together.
They got 49 votes.
They'll be blamed.
So my question is politically strategy.
It's the best tactic for a Democrat to get a Republican to flip on this.
So as they're talking over each other, but what Steve Karnaki was saying is that they only have 49 votes.
They need to get a Republican to flip on this.
And Chris Matthews is saying, you don't understand.
They are going to be blamed for this, which they should, by the way, actually be blamed for this.
He's saying that that political reality doesn't matter because the real reality is that people are going to hold the Democrats responsible for all the horrible stuff that's happening now because he said, oh, they cheated Bernie or they did everything they could to get Hillary.
Then she loses.
And now we got this.
And these are the leaders of the party did that stuff to put Hillary there.
That's what he's insinuating.
So the leaders of the party did everything they could to help Hillary.
She loses.
And now this is what we got.
And now they can't do anything to stop this when the Senate Republicans that pulled every dirty trick in the book to make sure that Barack Obama couldn't seat his justice.
And if the Democrats don't seem to be fighting, don't be, aren't seen to be fighting as hard as the Republicans were against Obama, that they're going to be out.
And I agree with them that they should be out, but they've been horrible.
They just deregulated Wall Street again, the Democrats.
They just gave Trump $715 billion.
They're horrible.
The Democrats in California just got rid of net neutrality.
I think morally, he's got a great point.
And I want to believe that he'll be right on that.
However, when all the Democrats helped out with Neil Gorsuch, that was Jill Stein's fault.
Yeah, there was like how many Democrats, three or four years.
It was nine.
Nine Democrats voted for Neil Gorsick?
Well, the senators that helped push it through that said we're going to get the vote.
I mean, it was nine that went along with that.
But that's Jill Stein's fault.
That's Jill Stein's fault.
I'm sure it's somebody's fault with no money and no power.
You know, I'm just sitting here just thinking about how Obama once again failed my future.
Yeah.
You know, how is my future not affected by his lack of persuasion and pushing forward a Supreme Court justice?
It's depressing.
Well, here is some good news.
This is according to a guy named Gregory Gregory Koger.
He says, here's how the Democrats can shut down the Senate.
Now, he didn't write this article aimed at the Supreme Court situation.
He has it aimed at a different situation.
In fact, he wrote this on June 20th.
So this is talking about how the Democrats could actually shut down the Senate and force the Republicans.
And I'll read some of it to you.
He says, let's say the Democrats want to shut down the Senate in order to force a vote on one of their own proposals.
For example, a bill to prevent the federal government from separating parents and children as they seek asylum at our nation's borders.
They can do it anytime they want.
That's what this guy says.
Because of Article 1, Section 5 of the Constitution, what it states is this.
A majority of each shall constitute a quorum to do business, but a smaller number may adjourn from day to day and may be authorized to compel the attendance of absent members in such manner and under such penalties as each House may provide.
So what he's saying is that the Democrats could deny them a quorum so they couldn't do business.
That's what this guy's saying.
Other than quitting for the day or calling others to come to the chamber, the Senate can do nothing without a majority of its members, 51 senators.
So you need 51 senators, according to participate in a vote.
No bill can pass.
No amendment can be decided.
And no nominations can get approved if the Democrats don't show up.
This provides Senate Democrats with real leverage.
If they refuse to participate in roll call votes, the Senate will come to a halt for a lack of quorum.
This tactic would put pressure on every Republican to be near the chamber whenever the Senate is in session, and Democrats are able to force a vote on any procedural question.
If Republicans are busy in the morning raising money and holding committee meetings, Democrats can force them into the Senate chamber and keep them there.
The same is true during peak fundraising time in the early evening, or if the Senate is in session on Friday or during the month of August.
Meanwhile, vulnerable Senate Democrats will bring their, will be doing their part by staying out of the Senate chamber and using their time more productively.
So he was writing this article talking about these bills.
He says at present, there are several critical bills kept from the Senate floor by Mitch McConnell's policy.
One, a bill to protect Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation from presidential influence reported out of the Senate Judiciary Committee by a 14 to 7 majority.
And a bill to give Congress final authority over tariffs imposed to protect national security.
Also, a bill to reinstate the deferred action for childhood arrivals program without the debate restrictions imposed by McConnell in February.
Also, a bill to prevent family separation at the border, the Keep Families Together Act, which currently has united Democratic support.
The current uproar over Trump's policy of separating families seeking asylum could provide Democrats a justification for shutting down the Senate until McConnell loosens his grip on the floor agenda.
I would say that they could do this over the Supreme Court.
Say, you know, you guys owe us a Supreme Court nominee, so we're going to make you nominate someone that's palatable to us, which is how it used to be because they had the filibuster, but they got rid of that.
Mitch McConnell got rid of that.
They did the nuclear option.
So now it just takes the 51 votes to get a Supreme Court nominee.
Well, and they also have the political leverage of a midterm coming up.
I mean, you know, Republicans, their whole rebuttal for Obama was, well, in under a year, there's going to be an election coming up.
We should let the people speak.
Well, okay.
Well, in under a year, there's some midterms coming up.
So let's let the voters decide.
Let the voters decide.
I mean, they have all the political leverage.
It's this year.
Now, here's the key thing.
I always thought that if there was a 50-vote tie or something, the vice president weighs in.
Right.
So the vice president oversees the Senate and he votes in the Senate to break a tie.
So that would be your 50.
Well, you say, well, Jimmy, they have 51 votes right now.
Yeah, but John McCain is sick, so he's not there.
So they really only have 50.
The Republicans, I mean, senators.
So it's 50 to 49, and they only have 50.
But I don't know if the vice president can show up and to give them a quorum.
In fact, the guy who wrote this says, I'm uncertain whether the Vice President Mike Pence could contribute to a 51st vote toward a quorum.
The Senate precedents on quorums do not mention this question.
So I guess we'll find out.
Yeah, because general verbiage of the policy is it's only to break a tie.
Right.
So if they're not there in the first place, well, how would you have a tie?
So maybe he couldn't.
But again, I'm sure they would.
I'm sure that they would say he could and then do it.
And then the Democrats would have to go to court and the Supreme Court would decide this.
Likely.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And that's likely how it could unfold.
But the Democrats need to be seen doing it.
If they give another vote to a Trump nominee like they gave to Gorsik, geez.
Which they did.
Anyway, so there you go.
So that's the big question.
So do I think Chuck Schumer?
No, Chuck Schumer wouldn't even stand up.
They wouldn't even stand up for the Dreamers because their corporate donor said, don't you dare shut this government down.
Don't you think that's what happened?
That's what I think happened.
That's why they wouldn't stand up.
And so that's why they rolled so easily.
So we'll see if they take Chris Matthews' advice and they have to be seen doing everything they can to oppose this and fighting every which way they can.
They're not going to.
They're not going to.
I have a feeling sneakily that the Democratic establishment savors this.
Now they're like, no, next time nobody will vote third party.
This is a great fundraiser.
You got to vote blue.
Any blue will do.
Exactly.
And not only that, but the any blue will do model, which they love.
That gives you some of the blues that are fine with your nil goors such as and are fine with whoever didn't go along with Trump.
That's what blue no matter.
That's what blue no matter who gets you.
It gets you your Joe Manchins.
It gets you your Joe Donald.
No one likes to point that out.
It gets you your Nancy Pelosi.
Yeah, they love to wag their fingers at progressives.
Meanwhile, it's like, well, wait a second.
Your blue no matter who strategy, first of all, gave us the only candidate that Trump was capable of beating.
That's right.
Gave him her as an opponent, so he won.
And also gives us people that go along with him and enable him.
Like your Joe Manchins and your Donnellys.
Why doesn't anyone talk about that part?
I don't understand why nobody talks about how the fact that they cheated the guy who could have beat Trump in favor of the only person who couldn't.
And then they blame people with no money and no power in another country.
That's what they're doing.
They're blaming Jill Stein.
They're blaming misogyny, WikiLeaks, James Comey's letter, Bernie Bros.
Memes, the Pope.
They blamed everybody and everything except themselves for cheating the person who could have beat Trump in favor of the only person in America who could have lost.
It's an unbelievable maze.
You know how somehow they have those mazes where there's like the start and the finish and you have to figure out how the hell they got there?
It's like, start.
A president doesn't fight for a Supreme Court pick that's rightfully his.
Finish.
It's Susan Sarandon's fault.
How the hell did you get there?
That makes zero sense.
Rick Perry called again, but I was busy, so I just let the machine pick up.
Jimmy Dore, by now the whole world has heard it that I am to host the 3C's energy minstrel meeting at the Department of Iron Energy's headquarters.
Oops, I mean, ministerial meeting, not minstrel.
My bad.
Anyway, did you hear that?
Well, I did because my assistant read it to me off a post-it note that said, dumb things I got to do today.
Why, thank you kindly, sir.
Yes, I'm glad you asked that.
On Monday, I shall or will join Yuval Steinitz, Minister of Energy from Israel at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for assigning us some shit or another.
Nobody kills me anything here.
So I just play it by ear.
I think it might have something to do with privatizing all the water and then the heirs and then the sun because it's too important to leave to average people.
So the state of Israeli can put it in their locks box.
I went to the whaling ball once.
There were no whales.
Please buy my new comedy LP, The Unbuttoned Mind of Rick Perry.
What?
I spoke at the launch of the summit supercomputer the other day.
It is the universe's most powerful and smartest supercomparter in the world.
It literally beat me at cribbage.
No, wait, was it checkers?
It was one of those.
I'll check later.
Anyway, get this.
It was built by IBM.
IBM.
Wow.
Do I really sound this stupid all the time?
I do, don't I?
And Curtin.
Fernando Cortez was a great leader, but Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will never be able to live up to the great legacy of her father because she wants to abolish ICE.
We must continue our fight against the Aztec Empire and build a great wall all the way down to China.
Too many Aztecians are entering our country illegally.
Plus, she's a girl.
Tessa, I'm living in some sort of dreamland where I'm the smartest of them all and everyone else is the not smart.
Don't question it.
Just say beat.
Lexis, who is the smartest of them all?
Sarcoma, give me directions to the nearest Trader Joe's and help me get my head out of this dry cleaning bag.
I can't breathe.

Everybody, welcome to the Jimmy Door show.
I'm here with Rob Lacona, the miserable liberal.
I'm miserable.
Howdy, howdy.
Ron off his sold-out tour.
How nice was that?
It was a lot of fun.
There you go.
Louisville sold out.
Asheville sold out.
Yep.
Look at that.
All right.
We'll see you July 15th in Chicago.
Are there still tickets available?
Maybe.
I'm not sure.
Just a handful.
Portland all the way sold out.
Okay.
We want to talk about what happened last night.
I'm talking about the primary.
So there was a lot of everybody saying it's a big deal for progressives.
Here's the Washington Post.
They're doing video now.
Here's what they said about it.
House Democrats had a rather rude awakening on Tuesday night as their number four ranking official, Congressman Joe Crowley of New York City was defeated in a primary by an unheralded opponent named Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Crowley's loss was almost instantly tied to House Majority Leader Eric Cantor's loss in a Republican primary in 2014.
Cantor's loss was seen as a rebuke of House Republican leadership, of his moderation on issues like immigration, and a sign of a desire for new leadership in the Republican Party.
So they got their new leadership.
The people on the right were sick and tired of their leadership, and it was proven by them ousting Eric Cantor.
And then they went on to oust the whole goddamn establishment, and they elected Donald Trump as their standard bearer in the primary.
So they had a real revolution in the Republican Party.
Donald Trump is a signal of that, even though he's not.
It's a fake revolution.
Yes, he's rude to the establishment, but he's doing even worse policies for working people.
And guess what's happening in the Democratic Party?
Look what happened with Bernie Sanders.
So people are sick and tired of their representation in the United States.
They're sick and tired of the parties.
They're sick and tired of the people who lead their parties.
This is what this is a sign of.
So it happened.
It just happened in the Republican Party a little faster because the Democrats had Barack Obama to smooth over it for a little while.
And then as soon as he was gone, boom, Bernie Sanders.
And people wanted to get rid of the establishment.
They had to cheat to keep their power.
The establishment had to cheat to keep their power.
And then, of course, they couldn't cheat.
And the general, they lost to Donald Trump.
So, yeah, people are hurting in the country and they want change.
They thought they were going to get it with Barack Obama.
They did not get it.
They still want it, still need it.
Crowley lose because he was a member of Democratic leadership?
Did he lose because people are concerned about the leaders being too old or being too moderate?
Ocasio-Cortez feeds all of these questions.
What are you feeling?
You know, when they say moderate, I don't think deregulating Wall Street is moderate.
I just don't.
I don't think voting for ICE is moderate.
I don't think making the banks bigger is moderate.
I don't think voting for a $715 billion war machine is moderate.
I just don't think that stuff is moderate.
That's extreme.
People don't want that stuff.
Right?
Am I wrong about this?
I don't think opposing single payer is moderate.
That's not moderate.
There's nothing moderate about that.
It's just, I mean, I don't even like to use, I like to refer to a lot of the establishment Democrats as conservatives in denial because that's exactly what they are.
I also like to add to that that they're corporate tools.
Yes.
And there's nothing moderate about somebody who's a corporatist.
They're a bunch of neoliberals.
Yes.
And they're a part of the establishment that doesn't want to give us health care.
They don't want to release people who are in prison over pot.
They don't want to move this country forward.
They want to keep us back in the 80s.
They're radicals.
I would say people, I would say we're filled with right-wing radicals in our government and in our Democratic Party.
It's radical to deny the majority will on single payer.
It's radical to deny the majority on a livable wage in the richest country in the world.
That's radical.
And, you know, I want to just add to it.
You know, when you have people that are defecting from the Republican Party to the Democratic Party, you should know right now that the Democratic Party is a conservative now party.
I mean, how liberal really are they?
What are the Democrats really liberal on?
Right.
I mean, and they love to tie a bow on everything, like even bipartisanship.
Bipartisanship today doesn't mean they're working together to try to compromise on something that benefits most people or people.
Bipartisanship is code for the Republicans have a horrible idea.
The Democrats are ready to help them sell it.
Oh, you know how I see it?
I just see it as bipartisan.
They want to fuck you.
Like Wall Street deregulation, like going along with the Pentagon budget.
All bipartisan, quote-unquote, efforts.
That's all bipartisan efforts.
That's exactly right.
So there's a little bit more of this.
So they're trying to figure out why he lost.
Was it because he was too old?
Was it because people wanted it's I don't think it has anything to do with his age.
People like, I love Bernie Sanders.
I don't think it has anything to do with the age.
I think it has to do with the fact that the Democratic Party is actively working against the people that expects to vote for them, and they're starting to realize it.
I think that's what it is.
Here we go.
I cannot put this into words.
This victory belongs to every single grassroots organizer, every working parent, every mom, every member of the LGBTQ community, every single person is responsible for this.
We don't know the answer, and we haven't yet seen a string of Democratic incumbents.
We don't know the answer why?
That's what he said.
We don't know the answer.
Why Joe Crowley lost?
We don't have any guesses.
Well, he just had, well, he had a couple of guesses.
Was it because he's too old?
Was it because this?
We don't know the answer.
Okay, I think we know the answer.
I think I just told you what the answer was.
...in primaries, much less a string of Democratic leaders being cast aside by their constituents.
But Democratic leaders have to be asking themselves this question in a way they simply weren't 24 hours ago.
...how we're now.
There you go.
That's from the Washington Post.
And that's Joe Crowley, by the way.
He, at his loser party, decided to start jamming, playing music.
How do you play music when you lost?
It's how you cope with it.
I guess.
That's how you cope with it.
He played Born to Run by Bruce Springsing and dedicated it to Cortez, which I thought that was classy.
I thought that was classy.
And I thought it was like, that's especially, you know, chances are that's a guy who wouldn't have voted for you.
Yeah.
So that's like, I told him, I was like, hey, in your honor, if I ever run for office and lose, I'm going to play a Ted Nugent song and dedicate it to my opponent.
I wonder why.
So, well, here's another.
Here's some more from Slate.
They say progressives won big on Tuesday at last.
The progressive wing of the Democratic Party finally showed its electoral strength on Tuesday night, notching a few, no doubt about it, electoral wins in a handful of key primaries after months of mostly moral victories.
In New York, there's the one we talked about.
Crowley was considered a frontrunner to someday replace Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House.
But he was also ill-suited to a diverse district that includes a swath of working-class queens and the Bronx.
Yeah, I would say he was ill-suited.
Ocasio-Cortez, she's a 28-year-old Latina, staked out a far more progressive policy positions than Crowley, argued powerful Democrats and argued powerful Democrats in safe seats like his needed to be doing more to pull the party to the left.
Primary voters agreed.
Ocasio-Cortez won by whopping 15 percentage points, making Crowley the first Democratic incumbent to lose a primary this year and the highest-ranking lawmaker from either party to fall in a primary since House GOP leader Eric Cantor lost to Dave Bratt in Virginia four years ago.
He's the first Democrat incumbent to lose a primary this year.
The first.
So to me, that doesn't sound like the progressives Are taking over the party.
To me, it sounds like we got this win here.
We got that win there.
We got a mayor over here.
We got a governor over here.
We got a congressperson here.
People definitely want change, but it's much harder to make this kind of change than she did.
Like, that's a big deal that she did that.
It really is.
And do we have a long way to go?
Absolutely.
Absolutely lootly.
But yeah, this is a nice victory and gave us all something to smile about last night.
I mean, she came in here, and that's another fun fact to throw in there, too.
He outspent her about 17 to 1, and she beat him.
I didn't know that.
I didn't know how much he outspent her.
But Joe Crowley's next in line, where it was number four in line.
It goes Pelosi, Stenny Hoyer.
Who's the third person?
And then him.
Find out who the third person.
But anyway, do you know why he was next in line?
Or people were saying he was next in line to replace Nancy Pelosi?
Because he gets the most money from corporations and Wall Street, and then he gives it out.
He never had to run in a primary before.
So he had all this cash laying around that he would get, and he would give it out to everybody.
And that's why he's a leader.
That's why he's because Joe Crowley, who it's obvious that guy isn't an actual leader.
He's not someone who you would follow into battle, or he has bright ideas on how to fix stuff.
The reason why Joe Crowley is called a leader is because he gets the most money from the donors and then he gives it out to the other congresspeople so they can go buy commercials and they can still keep their power.
So then they vote for him because he's their money train.
See how that works?
Same thing with Nancy Pelosi.
So everybody's getting money from Nancy Pelosi, Stenny Hoyer, and this Crowley to go run in their own district.
So then they vote for them for leader.
That's how it works.
It's got nothing to do with actually being a leader.
It's got nothing to do with actually being the best person for the job or the person with the best ideas.
What does it have to do with?
It has to do with who gets the most money.
Only the second Driple C-backed non-incumbent to lose this year.
Crowley's the first Driple C-backed incumbent to lose this year.
He's the first second non-incumbent.
So go ahead, Seth.
I'm sorry.
Well, my question is, is the DCCC going to now support these candidates?
Well, they're supposed to.
But what's the likelihood that they're going to?
Well, the likelihood that Ocasio-Cortez needs their help is very little now because the big hurdle was the primary, and she's going to win in the general.
It's like a gimme, right?
There's no real opposition.
So, but you're right.
Your point taken.
Now, these progressives win in the primary.
After they beat a Driple C-back candidate, how much are they going to work for them, right?
That's a big question.
I don't know.
We'll see.
Progressives were also celebrating in Maryland where former NAACP president Ben Jellis won the Democratic nomination on Tuesday.
I really like that guy, Ben Jellis.
Yeah.
This is another reason to smile.
I really like that guy.
Ben Jellis is the real deal.
And he doesn't seem like a compromiser or a guy who can be compromised.
He doesn't seem that way.
You know, everyone's a human being, whatever.
But he seems like the real deal.
I like that guy.
He ran an aggressively progressive campaign, including calls for Medicare for all and a $15 minimum wage.
And he had the backing of the likes of Senator Sanders and Kamala Harris.
Why would Kamala Harris back him?
Because she wants to be in good company right now.
That's the only reason she's lending her name.
So, oh, look, I'm with Sanders.
Oh, look, I'm with Ben Jellis.
Forget it.
This is her head fake to the left.
That's what this is.
This is her head fake to the left.
I'm so sorry.
I just want to say one more thing.
In the meantime, she's going around and supporting other candidates, right?
What is she doing right here for Californians?
Nothing.
You tell me what is her big legislative push right now?
What are her big ideas to help relieve the homeless population or get housing costs down or provide nothing?
What are her ideas?
You tell me.
I don't know.
So Colorado, now we'll move to Colorado.
Colorado's Democratic primary for governor flew a little further under the radar.
But Representative Jared Polis emerges as a crowded field on Tuesday thanks to his own fortune and a progressive policy platform that included calls for all-day preschool and a single-payer healthcare system for the state.
So there's a rich guy who's progressive like FDR, right?
It says due to his own fort, thanks to his own fortune, the Democratic establishment still got most of the candidates it wanted on Tuesday.
Again, I don't want to be a but the establishment still won.
The establishment, the Democratic establishment still got most of the candidates it wanted on Tuesday.
A pair of Driple C-backed military vets won contested primaries over more progressive candidates on Staten Island.
Max Rose coasted to a victory in a six-way race.
And in Central Colorado, Jason Crowe defeated Levi Tillerman.
Now, you remember who they are.
Levi Tillerman was the guy who recorded Stenny Hoyer, who's the number two Democrat in the House, telling him that he shouldn't run and a decision has been made.
We made a video about it.
We all did our best godfather impressions.
You need to revisit it.
Yes.
So go watch that video.
But that was the, that's who that was.
So the progressive, they did, it won.
It worked for them.
So the Driple C put their finger on the scale for the corporatist and the corporatist won over the progressive, even though the progressive caught him on tape admitting that they were cheating and making a pre-decision before the voters got a chance.
Not Tiller, Tillerman.
T-I-L-L-E-M-A-N-N.
Two N's at the end.
That second end is for savings.
Polis campaigned.
He campaigned super progressive.
He campaigned on a state-level Medicare for all plan and promised to move the state to 100% renewable energy by 2040 and fully fund all-day kindergarten.
Wow.
He's the favorite to win in November.
All right.
So they can have state-level Medicare for all in Colorado, but in California, the fifth largest economy in the world, Democrats stop it.
We can't have it.
They could have it in Colorado, but in the fifth largest economy in the world, we're still out of reach.
They can also have municipal internet in Colorado.
Yeah, in Colorado and Longmont, and in Fort Collins.
But somehow, you know, Pasadena can't do that.
Santa Monica can't pull it off.
Sam can't pull that off.
Somehow, LA lost it.
Only Beverly Hills can, nowhere else.
Beverly Hills did it.
Yeah, they're doing it, but nobody else.
Gosh, I wonder why Beverly Hills was able to do it.
Well, they do money.
I mean, that is true.
Yeah.
All right.
So there it is.
That's our roundup.
It looks on the surface.
It looks like something for progressives to cheer.
It's something.
It's not nothing.
I know it's not nothing.
Reason to smile, but still a long way to go.
These are not meaningful changes.
This is not a meaningful change.
Really?
So the Driple C, of all the candidates they ran, they lose three.
So only the second non-incumbent backed by the Driple C that lost?
Well, it's more than zero.
Not good.
You got to keep a little optimism.
Nancy Pelosi is the leader in the house, and she has embraced Paygo.
That means there's no progressive policies happening.
It's true.
So it's just the party is just, again, they will spend millions of billion, all their money to make sure progressives don't take over the party.
Just so you know.
And they'll cheat you.
They cheated us on the state level in California.
We can't even take over the party in California.
So again, I don't mean to sound like a Debbie Downer, but I mean, it's good for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
And that's good for the country.
It's good for the people in New York.
It's good.
We need a revolution.
Because of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's victory, now the mainstream press is trying to figure out who she is.
Here's a great piece from Vogue at Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
That's from Kyle Griffin.
He tweeted that out.
He's got a blue check.
He's important.
Joy Reed has a blue check.
She says pretty much all of political journalism are doing an Ocasio-Cortez crash course tonight, myself included.
I tweeted out weird how a little YouTube show has been covering Ocasio-Cortez for a year already.
And then I linked to our video.
While you and all the other completely out of touch millionaires at MSNBC stayed clueless and intentionally ignored her.
What MSNBC does is PR for Democratic Party, not journalism.
Are you blocked yet?
No, she won't block me.
No, she won't block it.
There you go.
Neither will Rachel Maddow or Chris Hayes.
They won't block me.
So I don't know.
Here's that little internet show.
Welcome, our guest.
She is an organizer.
She's a former social entrepreneur, entrepreneur, and now she's going to shake up the Democratic Party.
It's Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Hi, Alexandria.
Hi, Jimmy.
How are you?
I'm doing fantastic now that you're with us.
We were kind of on it.
And you wonder why people get their news from YouTube.
That was June 7th, 2017.
We were on it.
That's over a year ago.
Not only did we know who she was, we had her on and we told you all about her.
We had time to take like 20 crash courses.
Yeah, we had to.
We could have taken a bunch of crash courses.
Yeah.
So we did, I think, about a 20-minute interview with her.
So we got to know her really well.
And she got to tell us who Joe Crowley was.
I had no idea who Joe Crowley was before I met her.
Did you?
Did he either?
No, I wasn't familiar with that.
I had no idea that he was a number four Democrat in the house.
Did you?
I didn't know.
I didn't know he didn't really represent the people he claimed to represent.
He didn't even live in the district.
I didn't know any of that stuff.
And he went unopposed for so long.
Unopposed.
I didn't know that until recently.
Didn't know that either.
Somebody named Bernie Karma, AC, Bernie Karma, says, thanks, Jimmy.
That interview put her on my radar.
Helped me have the motivation to knock on some doors for her.
Keep doing what you're doing.
Oh, so look, we made a little difference.
Our little show made a little bit of a difference.
Isn't that nice?
And that person took the crash course before Joy Reed.
Yeah, before Joy.
Early adapter to the crash course.
Isn't that wild?
Isn't that wild?
MSNBC doesn't have their finger on the pulse.
Isn't that something?
They really were.
It's almost like they're out of touch.
It's almost like they're paid by people who don't want to inform you.
I like how they openly admit they just weren't paying attention to an election.
Yes.
It's a candidate?
Ha!
Got to find out about that.
Huh?
Who's there?
Maybe they just needed an empty podium to be able to figure out who was running in this primary.
Maybe, maybe, and yeah, maybe if she stood behind an empty podium.
Maybe if she didn't stand behind a podium and it was empty.
But maybe Andy Lack didn't know about her either.
So he didn't give or Phil Griffin over at MSNBC because you know that they told their host that they couldn't cover Bernie Sanders.
So maybe they didn't know who Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was.
So they couldn't tell them not to cover.
Maybe that's legit.
Yeah.
I liked what this person said, though.
They go, Reed's comment is really weird.
It's an awkward form of ass covering.
In order to avoid confronting her role and stacking the deck and without admitting her own declining influence, Reed made the oddest, most insulting bid for access to the new regime possible.
So what that person's saying is that she's trying to cover her ass politically.
Like, hey, we're all, it's that whole thing of nobody saw 9-11 coming.
So no, if everybody missed it, then nobody's responsible.
And that's what she's saying.
Look, nobody's responsible because all journalists didn't know had their asshole from a home.
That's not true.
We knew who she was.
The Young Turks knew who she was.
The Succular Talk knew who she was.
Humanist Report knew who she was.
I'm sure Tim Black knew who she was.
Who else?
I'm sure Lee Camp knew who she was.
Abby Martin knew who she was.
The DSA knew who she was.
The DSA.
I'm sure the DSA knew who she was.
Isn't that weird?
All of us knew who she was, except the people who are supposed to be informing you about politics.
The people with the million-dollar budgets.
Million.
Gazillion dollar budgets.
A million.
That's a joke.
A million.
That's what they pay Rachel Maddow per month.
A million.
That's just for her.
Give it to her.
Give her a million.
There it is.
So that's funny.
That's what she's doing.
And they're implying that what she's doing there is that she, that's her first salvo to try to get access to Cortez.
That's what she's doing.
I'm taking a crash course, myself included.
Hey, even I missed this one.
So there you go.
Again, the establishment news, completely clueless.
Completely.
Like almost braggadocio.
Hey, we're all missing it.
Nobody knew what was happening.
All you people that voted for her, you must have just guessed right.
There you go.
We didn't even know a primary was happening.
The New York Times didn't even do a story on her.
Did you know that?
No, I didn't realize that.
The New York, I read it in it.
I read today that the New York Times didn't do one article on her.
I find that hard to believe.
But I can believe it.
Yeah, I believe.
It's hard to believe, but I can believe it.
I mean, that's a paper that's trying to figure out how to get access to Donald Trump.
That's what the New York Times is right now.
So, okay, there you go.
Weird.
Weird how a little YouTube, dinky little YouTube show like this was onto the biggest upset in the Democratic Party.
Isn't that something we were on?
We were on it a year ago, over a year ago.
We were on it.
Thank goodness for that Wi-Fi, man.
Thank God.
Thank goodness for that Wi-Fi.
So Jeb Bush keeps leaving me messages on my outdated voice machine.
Boy, I wonder what's bothering him now Oh God, get him out of my dad's house, will you?
Hey, Bill Clinton's with my dad again.
Why is he always hanging around my dad?
I'm his son, not Bill Clinton.
I'm here all the time, alone in the bowling alley.
Nobody comes down here anymore.
There's a panic room down here too, and it's still got the big red button.
Nobody took it out.
Sometimes I like to put my finger on that button and gently, gently stroke it like I was president.
And is that bad?
Am I bad?
I'm bad.
Jeb is bad again.
Oh, well.
