Encountering Jesus Late
00:10:18
|
|
| Welcome to the Jim Baker Family Show. | |
| Today, our special guest is Lisa Fowler. | |
| Our co-hosts today are Pastor Ricky Baker and Reverend Mondo de la Vega. | |
| And now here's your host, Pastor Jim Baker. | |
| Hello, everybody. | |
| Welcome to the Jim Baker Show. | |
| And Ricky Baker, my son. | |
| Still called the Jim Baker Show, though. | |
| Mondo Baker. | |
| How are you? | |
| Mondo Baker. | |
| You got a last name change. | |
| Yeah, yeah, there we go. | |
| Officially. | |
| Should have changed it years ago. | |
| I know. | |
| 27 years ago. | |
| 30 years ago, I was still a baby. | |
| You're a bad boy. | |
| But what happened was, I love the title of our guest book because I was talking about this the other day. | |
| When you have an encounter with God. | |
| It changes everything. | |
| Not only changes. | |
| Come on. | |
| It transforms you completely. | |
| In the last 30 years, I've been in development. | |
| Amen. | |
| Wife of Joshua. | |
| That's right. | |
| And you went through a hurricane turno. | |
| Yes, sir. | |
| In 2024. | |
| You're still in one piece. | |
| Still in one piece. | |
| Thank God. | |
| Such a testimony. | |
| An F3 tornado hit our house while we were in it and destroyed 240 homes in our neighborhood. | |
| Seven neighbors killed. | |
| We found ourselves at the bottom of our staircase, hiding in a tiny bathroom, shouting out, Jesus, Jesus, save us. | |
| Jesus, save us. | |
| And my husband heard the voice of the Lord and said, command the wind. | |
| And he started commanding the wind. | |
| He said, leave this land. | |
| Leave this land. | |
| And I started and I joined in with him and we stood in agreement. | |
| Leave this land. | |
| And the tornado just excelled. | |
| But it was the most horrific thing, Jim. | |
| Now, you didn't get wounded? | |
| Not a scratch on our bodies. | |
| Not one scratch. | |
| We had... | |
| And people died... | |
| Seven people. | |
| Seven people died around us. | |
| Some of our neighbors did not make it. | |
| Was your house destroyed? | |
| Our house was totally destroyed. | |
| We had seven 50-foot iron beams come piercing through our house. | |
| If my husband did not call me out of bed, I would not be here today. | |
| So you believe in the power of God to save you and believe in the power. | |
| Believe in the power of God. | |
| God can do it. | |
| He can save you. | |
| You were born in where? | |
| South Africa. | |
| I was born and raised in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. | |
| How did you find the Lord? | |
| I found the Lord at a very, very young age. | |
| I've had a deep relationship with Jesus from a young age. | |
| I was three years old. | |
| Grew up in a Christian environment, a loving home. | |
| My parents taught me from a young age the power of prayer and about Jesus and having a relationship with Jesus. | |
| And I was three years old. | |
| I told my mom one day, I said, Mom, I'm ready. | |
| She said, ready for what? | |
| I said, I'm ready to give my life to Jesus. | |
| I want to invite Jesus in my heart. | |
| And I remember it as clear as yesterday. | |
| I went to my room, knelt at my bed and said, Jesus, will you love in my heart? | |
| And from that day, I've had Jesus on my side. | |
| And as a little girl, I invited Jesus into my daily walk with him. | |
| I remember having tea parties and inviting him to join me with tea parties and pretend movies and have my little stuff animals. | |
| And I have Jesus. | |
| You got them all saved too. | |
| I had all of them saved. | |
| I've had, yeah, I had Jesus with me from that day. | |
| You titled your book, God Encounters Moments That Change Everything. | |
| Can you tell us when you were a child? | |
| That's right. | |
| What was your first God encounter you can remember? | |
| So my first God encounter was more in my late teens. | |
| I had a good relationship with Jesus, but you know, as we enter into our teen years, we kind of forget about having the relationship with Jesus. | |
| I prayed every day, read my Bible, but it becomes more of a religious thing and not a relationship thing. | |
| So my first encounter I had with the Lord, I think I was 19, encountered the Holy Spirit, and I found myself alone. | |
| I was working at a beauty salon at that time. | |
| And the day was ending. | |
| I locked up the doors and I put worship music on. | |
| And I found myself alone in this room on the floor between a massage table and the wall, laying prostate on the floor, face in the ground, not even to a worship song. | |
| That is the most amazing thing. | |
| God can encounter us however, whenever, with whatever. | |
| I had a Celine Dion song playing, her song, I'm Alive. | |
| And the words in that song just hit me. | |
| And the more I was listening to it, the more I was worshiping Jesus. | |
| And the more I was worshiping him, the more I felt his presence. | |
| I started crying. | |
| I was bawling. | |
| I felt him all over me, laying on the floor, shaking. | |
| When I got up, I was like, God, what was that? | |
| And he said, you just experienced my Holy Spirit. | |
| And you've just experienced my presence for the first time. | |
| And that was the first encounter I had with him. | |
| There was no turning back after that. | |
| There's no turning back. | |
| And this is in your teens, Jesus. | |
| This is my teens, yeah. | |
| In this book, what are the most powerful moments that you can tell us about? | |
| I have, I'll share with my most favorite encounter with him. | |
| Yes. | |
| My most favorite encounter with Jesus was in a dream. | |
| I encountered him at the crucifixion. | |
| And I found myself, I saw Jesus on the cross. | |
| And I was quite a distance from him, staring at his face. | |
| And to my right and to my left were all drunken Roman soldiers. | |
| Yes. | |
| And they were. | |
| And in the dream, they are spitting at me, cursing me, saying, why do you serve this king? | |
| He's no king. | |
| Look at him. | |
| He's dying on a cross. | |
| He's being crucified. | |
| And the more they're shouting at me, the more I'm just focused on Jesus. | |
| I remember seeing his eyes, just focused on him. | |
| And I'm walking towards him in this encounter. | |
| And these soldiers are just throwing stones at me saying, you silly, why do you worship such a king? | |
| He is no king. | |
| And all I remember is I'm focused on Jesus. | |
| I don't care about the left, don't care about the right. | |
| And as I come in front of Jesus, the dream shifts and I shift. | |
| And I find myself behind Jesus on the cross. | |
| Now I'm a little taller than him. | |
| And me, I'm comforting Jesus from behind. | |
| I feel his skin. | |
| I feel his blood. | |
| And I'm behind him. | |
| And I'm as if we can comfort him. | |
| But I was just trying, I was just loved him so much, love him so much. | |
| I just try to comfort my comforter. | |
| And Jesus looked up to me. | |
| And as he breathed his last breath out, I breathed it in. | |
| And I just remember feeling, you know, goosebumps inside of my body. | |
| I felt chills in my bones. | |
| I felt chills flowing through my veins, flowing through my blood. | |
| And as he breathed his last breath, I breathed his last breath in and the dream ended like that. | |
| And I woke up that next morning. | |
| I felt for most probably two to three weeks, every day I felt that chills, like his very breath inside of me. | |
| And I felt that chills in my bones and in my blood for about three weeks. | |
| But that encounter transformed my whole life. | |
| It's a moment that changed everything. | |
| It's a moment that changed everything. | |
| And when you have these encounters, you can't ever get away from them. | |
| You can't ever get away from it. | |
| And there's no going back after having an encounter with Jesus. | |
| Nobody can steal. | |
| And I'll write that in the book. | |
| No one can steal or take away an experience with Jesus. | |
| For somebody who once had a God encounter and they're saying, I remember tangibly what it was like, how can they get back to a relationship with Christ where they can once again have those encounters? | |
| Yeah. | |
| Well, the first thing I share with you is hunger. | |
| You have to hunger for more of the Lord. | |
| Every day, it doesn't matter what level of spirituality you are in, what level of relationship you are in with God. | |
| There is always more of God. | |
| And you need to be hungry. | |
| And the other key I have is thanksgiving. | |
| Amen. | |
| You get everything through Thanksgiving. | |
| Enter my quartz of Thanksgiving. | |
| That's right. | |
| Some people don't understand when you talk to them about encountering God. | |
| They don't understand. | |
| And then some people really long for it. | |
| So I would just say, get back in worship, get back to childlike faith. | |
| Childlike faith is, I would say, the number one key to having encounters with Jesus again. | |
| My mom taught me from a young age, Jesus can do anything. | |
| And that's been the foundation of my whole life. | |
| So Jesus can do anything. | |
| You tell people how to have an encounter with God. | |
| Yes, sir. | |
| And that's so important. | |
| Get back to worship. | |
| Get back into prayer. | |
| Draw close to him. | |
| Amen. | |
| So, Ricky, we're online. | |

|
|
| You can see the episode. | |
| And we're actually going to have another episode, a third one, where I want you to watch that on video on demand as well, where we're going to have Dr. Fowler and Lisa at the same time. | |
| You guys are going to be sharing some testimonies right now. | |
| I guarantee you, apart from each other, but then when you guys got married, you guys have had some God encounters. | |
| Oh, yes, yes. | |
| Especially the tornado. | |
| I mean, that's an amazing testimony of how God encountered us in a time of crisis. | |
| I was safe from that. | |
| Tornadoes are very, very strong. | |
| Vicious. | |
| It's very vicious. | |
| It's demonic. | |
| How were you safe from that tornado? | |
| So we had a staircase in our house, and we had a tiny little powder room under the staircase. | |
| And that was our place of life. | |
| So you were in the powder room? | |
| Yes. | |
| Any of your children with you? | |
| With our children, my husband, me, my then-two-year-old. | |
| Can you imagine that, Londo? | |
| Two and four, I think. | |
| But our kids, I was holding my little boy, Judah, and Joshua was holding our girl, Celia. | |
| But we were holding them so tight, screaming. | |
| They were screaming. | |
| They didn't know what was going on. | |
| We had to rip them out of their beds. | |
| Screaming. | |
| With your house coming apart, could you hear it? | |
| We could hear it. | |
| I remember the first hit, and I was thinking, oh no, the house is hit. | |
| And that was just the beginning of the, which felt like eternity. | |
| Oh, yeah. | |
| But we heard every knock that it felt like the house was coming apart. | |
| It literally felt like we were going to be sucked up any second. | |
| In my mind, I'm thinking, oh, God, I'm going to be sucked up in the air. | |
| I have my child in my hands. | |
| I'm not letting go of my baby. | |
| That's right. | |
| What is going to happen? | |
| We felt the warmth come up right up to our knees, moisture come up, literally about to be sucked up. | |
| And you start crying out to the Lord. | |
| Crying out to the Lord, and God said, Command the wind. | |
| And we said, Leave this land. | |
| Leave this land in Jesus' name. | |
| And it just lifted. | |
| Can I share something? | |
| You brought me to thinking several years ago in Branson, there was, for this area, a horrific tornado that was coming through. | |
| My son, Milan, and Mateo, they're twins, and there were babies. | |
| Dad, I remember in the middle of the night holding Mateo, feeding him. | |
| I had never experienced a tornado like this. | |
| And I was used to earthquakes being from Los Angeles. | |
| And I was feeding Matteo, and it sounded to me like a fret train coming through that has started shaking the house. | |
| That's how intense. | |
| I love how you said it. | |
| It's demonic. | |
| And at that moment, fear sets in. | |
| No matter how strong you think you are, something like that that you're not used to brings fear. | |
| And I remember screaming the words, In the name of Jesus, leave. | |
| I kid you not. | |
| That tornado was coming through Table Rock. | |
| We were living by Fall Creek area here in Branson. | |
| That tornado jumped my house and it landed on 76 and it went that way and it destroyed half of 76. | |
| I can still think about that moment. | |
| You know what it felt like? | |
| It felt like the oxygen in that room left and it paralyzes you. | |
| And the fear that comes along. | |
| Not damaged, but other houses around me lost their roof, their trees. | |
| But you and the babies were saved. | |
| Oh, we ran into the bathroom. | |
| It's the only thing we had. | |
| And I grabbed my daughter and my wife. | |
| I put her in a closet and I said, I'll see you in heaven. | |
| I was thinking we were gone. | |
| Yes. | |
| And I want to tell you something. | |
| I got on top of my tail in that bathtub and I screamed, in the name of Jesus. | |
| And I'm telling you, at that moment, the house stopped shaking and that tornado lifted. | |
| And I drove, and you can see the pattern. | |
| That's right. | |
| There's power in the name of Jesus. | |
| I want you to tell me what was it like when you suddenly came, not two, but the storm stopped, and you're alive and the kids are alive. | |
| Yeah. | |
| Yeah, the storm stopped. | |
| But what happened then? | |
| We stepped out of the bathroom, first saw destruction everywhere. | |
| Poles through, there was a rod, I don't know, this wide red iron, I think is what they call it, 50-foot-long pole, literally this distance from our face. | |
| Wow. | |
| Right through the roof. | |
| So we stepped out and we just saw destruction. | |
| Was the house destroyed? | |
| The house was destroyed. | |
| Everything was destroyed. | |
| The house and we did not have a scratch on our bodies. | |
| That's the most amazing thing. | |
| Like you said, there's power in the name of Jesus. | |
| Listen, listen. | |
| We knew that God's assignment on our life is not over. | |
| In the coming days, we're going to need to have that kind of presence to God. | |
| God encounters. | |
| Yes. | |
| And I want you to order the book right now. | |
| Just call online or go. | |
| Our number is on the screen right there. | |
| It's 1-888-988-1588. | |
| At least I want to ask you a question. | |
| You know, if people are going through hard times right now, tribulations, a lot of people are facing financial insecurities and there's just seems to be trouble all around them. | |
| But the Bible says that our Lord is a present help in our time of trouble. | |
| If someone's going through it right now, whether it's physically, you know, emotionally, financially, spiritually, how would you encourage them to know that they can still have a God encounter and their situation can still change? | |
| Yeah, I think the number one thing I can encourage you is God has not left you. | |
| God is still with you. | |
| God is on your side. | |
| God has got your back. | |
| Even if you don't see it, God works behind the scenes. | |
| He's always working behind the scenes. | |
| He's always planning something for your life. | |
| Even if you're going through the most traumatic time in your life, God is still there. | |
| And if I can encourage you, don't ask why, God. | |
| I think we need to come with a heart posture of thanksgiving again. | |
| Even though our house was destroyed, there was still something to be thankful for. | |
| We're thankful that we are alive. | |
| Thankful that nothing harmed us. | |
| Thankful that my family is still alive. | |
| So if I can encourage the viewers, keep a heart posture of thankfulness. | |
| Even going through trauma. | |
| God brings you through the trial, which is a horrible thing. | |
| Yes. | |
| But there's a message after it. | |
| There's a testimony. | |
| You're actually living in your family house on the ocean. | |
| Yes, what restoration. | |
| He's such a God of restoration. | |
| Yeah, you think you're going through, well, when you go through a bad time in life and you're going through trials and tribulations, it's hard to see what God has in store for you. | |
| But God has bigger and better plans, and His restoration is such a beautiful picture of, I've got your back, daughter. | |
| I've got your back, son. | |
| I have plans for you. | |
| This is so powerful. | |
| This is the second time on the first program and on the second program you talk about thankfulness, being in thanksgiving mode. | |
| Yes. | |
| I want to tell you some of how powerful that is because all God was looking for from his people when he they came out of Egypt, he brought them out of Egypt. | |
| He asked them to be obedient and be thankful. | |
| Can you share some keys that you write about in your book? | |
| You wrote about Thanksgiving. | |
| That's key number one. | |
| What are other keys for us to understand how to invite the presence of God into our lives? | |
| Yeah, there's one other thing that I write about that I find that's very important is we have to separate ourselves. | |
| We've got to separate ourselves from distractions. | |
| God told me once while I was in Israel, I had an encounter with the fragrance of Jesus. | |
| And I was with a group of ladies at an archaeological site where they dug up a synagogue at the Sea of Galilee. | |
| And I heard the voice of the Lord say, he said, step away for a second. | |
| Just separate yourself from distractions. | |
| Separate yourself from the crowd and come away with me. | |
| So I separated myself and I went to this old ancient walls of the synagogue and I laid my face down on the stones and I smelt this most beautiful fragrance I've ever smelt. | |
| And I was all alone and I thought, wow, is someone beside me? | |
| Do they have perfume on? | |
| What am I smelling? | |
| No one was around me. | |
| And Jesus said, you're smelling my fragrance. | |
| Wow. | |
| But that would not have happened if I did not separate myself. | |
| You were. | |
| I remember in your book, you were dancing with Jesus. | |
| Yes. | |
| Tell me about that. | |
| That was another one of the most amazing encounters. | |
| I was in Jerusalem one day laying on my bed and I was exhausted because I was working in Jerusalem, helping in a ministry house. | |
| So, you know, ministry, we work a lot. | |
| Yes. | |
| So I was exhausted laying in bed. | |
| And I said, I just invited him in. | |
| I said, Jesus, just come in, do what you want to do. | |
| Show me what you want to show me. | |
| Just have your way. | |
| I'm closing my eyes. | |
| And he swept me away to a mountaintop in Jerusalem. | |
| I don't know if you've ever been, but it was like in the wilderness of Israel. | |
| It was right on top of the mountain and I had white clothes on and Jesus had white clothes on and he was just swirling me around and we were dancing and at the end of the dance I stepped to the edge of the mountain and I was kind of standing like this just in awe of his presence, in awe of spending time with him. | |
| And he came behind me and he put a tallit over my shoulders, a prayer shawl over my shoulders. | |
| and turned me around and said, I love you, princess. | |
| And it's just that intimate relationship with him that once again changes everything. | |
| Every encounter just changes your life. | |
| And the next one changes your life. | |
| The next one changes your life. | |
| Just the most amazing personal. | |
| That's what I write about in the book. | |
| And that's what I want people to realize is Jesus is real. | |
| Jesus is alive. | |
| We don't worship a dead idol. | |
| We don't worship a golden statue. | |
| He's alive. | |
| He wants to have a relationship with you. | |
| He wants to have communion with you. | |
| He wants to show you how much he loves you, how much he adores you, male or female, it doesn't matter. | |
| Jesus loves you and he wants to spend time with you. | |
| And my heart is to provoke the reader to want more of Jesus, to have a relationship with Jesus, and just give Jesus a chance to show you who he is and how much he loves you. | |
| This experience is so really supernatural, but it makes you stable in God. | |
| Yes. | |
| I don't see how you could ever turn away from God after being in this kind of experience. | |
| Yeah, there's no turning back. | |
| After you experience the love, the goodness of God, after you have a true experience with Jesus and the Holy Spirit and the Father, there's no turning back. | |
| That's why I want people to realize that God is alive. | |
| Even in this time of great turmoil in the world, trial, tribulation, it's important to have supernatural experiences with God. | |
| I know I've been talking about one of the dreams, and I'll be talking about more of them if I have time on this program. | |
| But heaven, my dreams in heaven, old men dream dreams, I think. | |
| And I dream a lot of dreams about heaven and it's marvelous. | |
| I've had one of another most amazing encounters in the book is I was in heaven in a dream. | |
| Oh, yes. | |
| Tell us about it. | |
| And I like to say, have you ever heard of heaven's sound room? | |
| It's a sound room in heaven that's full of music notes, instruments. | |
| I was walking down a bright hallway in heaven. | |
| First, I didn't know where I was. | |
| And I was like, God, where am I? | |
| And he said, wait and see. | |
| So this long, bright hallway, I was just walking and I came to a door. | |
| He said, open the door, open the door. | |
| And he said, welcome to the sound room of heaven. | |
| And you can come and you can pick whatever notes you want. | |
| Just make a sweet medley to me and worship me with whatever is available in this room. | |
| Just pick and choose what you want and worship me. | |
| It was the most beautiful sight. | |
| Notes flying around. | |
| I know it sounds weird, but that is the supernatural. | |
| Notes flying around, instruments flying around. | |
| And he says, just pick whatever you want and just worship me. | |
| I believe you. | |
| I'm that fanatical. | |
| But that must have been amazing. | |
| It was beautiful. | |
| Heaven is real, isn't it? | |
| Heaven is so real. | |
| Heaven is a real place. | |
| Don't miss heaven. | |
| Would you tell people how to get to heaven? | |
| Accept Jesus. | |
| If you want to have supernatural encounters, if you want to have encounters with God, with Holy Spirit, with Father God, with Jesus, there's only one way to experience heaven. | |
| One way to experience Jesus is to accept Jesus in your life and thank Him for what He's done for you. | |
| Thank Him for dying on the cross for us, for saving us, for shedding His blood for us, and welcome Him into your life. | |
| When the world's going through hell, you can experience heaven. | |
| We can experience heaven, heaven on earth. | |
| Isn't that wonderful? | |
| Experience heaven on earth. | |
| Oh, this is a great book to get God Encounters. | |
| Moments That Changed Everything. | |
| What's the number? | |
| It's 18889881588. | |
| That is God Encounters Moments That Change Everything. | |
| It's a forward by Dr. Joshua Fowler and an incredible book with Advantage Publishing. | |
| I could interview you for another hour. | |
| I love hearing about heaven. | |
| I love hearing about encounters with Jesus. | |
| Yeah. | |
| Because he's my savior. | |
| Yes. | |
| He is the hope for the world. | |
| And we want other people to experience what we experience. | |
|
Pray for Forgiveness
00:02:50
|
|
| We want everyone to experience the supernatural. | |
| You fall in love with Jesus when I was three years old. | |
| You're three. | |
| Three years old. | |
| I was in love with Jesus, and I'm more in love with him now than ever before. | |
| Because you can't have encounters. | |
| Because I've had God encounters. | |
| You don't love him. | |
| Yes. | |
| Yeah. | |
| Wow. | |
| If you don't know Jesus, ask him into your heart. | |
| He'll forgive you of your sins. | |
| He'll cleanse you from all unrighteousness. | |
| Oh. | |
| Have sinned and come short of the glory of God, the Bible says. | |
| So don't worry about it. | |
| Everybody's a sinner. | |
| All you got to do is ask Him to forgive you your sins, and He'll forgive you of all your sins. | |
| You know what He says, Ricky? | |
| He buries Him in the deepest sea of God's forgetfulness. | |
| They never remember them against him. | |
| Because when you're redeemed and restored, and you have the blood of Jesus covering you, God needs not remember that sin and hold it against you because He's merciful and He's just and He knows there's a price been paid for your sin and since He is just, He no longer holds it against you. | |
| The accuser of the brethren is the devil. | |
| So if the devil's telling you you're no good or you sinned, that's the devil. | |
| Don't believe Him. | |
| Well, if the devil tells you, Jesus, come into my life. | |
| That's right. | |
| Cast the devil away from me, God, in the name of Jesus. | |
| Amen. | |
| Yes. | |
| Do you want to say anything? | |
| I just want to say to the viewers out there, I pray. | |
| Can I pray for them? | |
| Please. | |
| Yeah, pray for them. | |
| Pray for the viewers. | |
| And I just pray that from today that you would want Jesus in your heart. | |
| You would want Jesus in your life. | |
| There is no other way but Jesus. | |
| And once you've had that first God encounter, there is no turning back. | |
| So I pray for you today. | |
| I pray God encounters in your life. | |
| I pray that you'd experience Jesus every day in your dreams and visions in every day of your life, every walk with him, that you'd experience him and have God encounters. | |
| Amen. | |
| Amen. | |
| We have to go. | |
| God loves you so much. | |
