Prayer of Intercession
00:07:01
|
|
| Welcome to the Jim Baker Family Show. | |
| Today, our special guest is, author of Intervention Prayers, Michelle Steele. | |
| Our co-host today is Reverend Mondo de la Vega. | |
| And now, here is your host, Pastor Ricky Baker. | |
| Hello, friends. | |
| You're watching the PTL Television Network and the Jim Baker Family Show. | |
| If you have your Bible, open it up. | |
| I want to read something to you that encouraged me this morning. | |
| I want to encourage you with it. | |
| Romans chapter 8, verse 37 says this. | |
| Know in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. | |
| For I'm persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. | |
| Nothing can separate you from the love that the Lord has through you through his son, Jesus Christ. | |
| And what a blessing that is, because there are times in our lives where we run and we run and we run and we're prodigal sons and we're prodigal daughters. | |
| But whenever we make the decision to turn around and go back home to our Father, he runs to us. | |
| And praise God that he does. | |
| If you missed our last program, we have Pastor Michelle Steele. | |
| I want you to go back. | |
| You missed a move, a real powerful testimony, a move of God. | |
| Go back. | |
| You can watch it on video on demand. | |
| Or if you're watching this live, you DVR'd it. | |
| Go and watch that first episode first. | |
| But we have Pastor Michelle Steele. | |
| She's sharing with us truths from her new book, Intervention Prayers. | |
| And today we are going to go even deeper on how to partner with the Holy Spirit in prayer for those who feel lost, maybe addicted, broken, and maybe they feel like they're beyond help. | |
| But the good news is that God specializes in intervention. | |
| Pastor Michelle, I want to thank you for being on the broadcast with us. | |
| I know we were talking about a difference between intercession and intervention. | |
| I know in our church body we have an intercession group. | |
| We have a pastor who leads that every single Monday and Friday. | |
| They get together and they pray for beginning of the week, the end of the week. | |
| But their intercession, tell us the difference between intercession and intervention. | |
| The intervention includes the prayer of intercession in the working of that intervention. | |
| But intervention praying is going to utilize all of the different tools, all of the different resources available. | |
| That intervention prayer has its emphasis on bringing the help, the resources of heaven into the life of that person who is walking in a life of destruction, who is involved in alcohol, drugs, whatever deception the enemy has used in their life. | |
| They need the power of God to free them from that. | |
| So intercession, which means to go between, is a work that Jesus accomplished. | |
| Jesus is our intercessor. | |
| It's not just a prayer that he prays. | |
| It's a work that he accomplished. | |
| The word intercede in the original language means to go between, and it goes in two directions. | |
| For instance, he went between us and God, and he made a new and a living way for us to approach God through his shed blood, through his sacrificed body. | |
| But he also went between us and Satan and disconnected the control that Satan has over our lives by his authority over Satan and by his triumph on the cross. | |
| And so that twofold work of intercession going between to break the power of Satan off of our lives and then to connect us to the power of God. | |
| We can come in the prayer of intercession and we can apply that going between. | |
| We can apply it by saying, Father, in the name of Jesus, I take authority over what Satan is trying to do in blinding my son's mind to the truth. | |
| And I bind the operation of Satan in his life by applying the blood of Jesus. | |
| And I pray for the eyes of his understanding to be enlightened. | |
| So I am breaking the power of the enemy that Jesus has accomplished in his work of intercession. | |
| I'm applying it with the prayer of intercession. | |
| But that intervention goes including all of that work in the prayer of intercession. | |
| That intervention goes to also provide a stalking of the shelves, bringing the power of God available for our loved ones to hear the gospel, to experience the life-changing power of God. | |
| You know, you write this in your book, that the prayer of faith may not always be the most effective in every situation. | |
| Let's talk about that. | |
| Well, let me tell you one day I reached into my silverware drawer and I pulled out my butter knife and I went to do something that I was trying to screw in a bolt with the butter knife and my husband walked in. | |
| He said, Michelle, what are you doing? | |
| I said, I'm trying to screw this screw. | |
| And he says, would you please stop? | |
| And he walks out into the garage. | |
| He gets his toolbox and he comes in with the toolbox and he says, there's a tool for that. | |
| There you go. | |
| And a lot of times believers are only accustomed to using the one tool that they use more often. | |
| As believers, we are going to use the prayer of faith, probably most in our lives, because the prayer of faith accesses what belongs to us in Christ. | |
| We pull that tool out of our toolbox and we put it to work on our situation. | |
| But when you're praying for other people, their will is involved. | |
| That's it. | |
| When you're praying for other people, there are situations that need to be influenced. | |
| And the prayer of faith isn't going to always work on that situation. | |
| And so we need to know the other tools in our toolbox. | |
| And you could say that your prayer toolbox, although you may use that prayer of faith most often, and I have to say, now that I have grown in as a believer in prayer, I found that I use the prayer of praise and worship as much as the prayer of faith because I'll lay hold of something with faith and then I'll need to solidify that and hold and maintain it. | |
| And so I'll pull out that prayer of praise and worship and I'll cover some things with it and I'll change the atmosphere with that prayer of praise and worship. | |
| So there are different prayers. | |
| The prayer of intercession, the prayer of consecration, the prayer of praise and worship, these different applications of prayer are necessary for us in the intervention praying because we can't get everything done with our butter knife. | |
| Amen. | |
| You know, you have a radical testimony. | |
| I encourage you, go watch the first episode. | |
| You can really get this or you can go follow her on our social medias where she talks about this. | |

Cardio Miracle Benefits
00:03:41
|
|
| When you first gave your life to the Lord and you knew, okay, this is the true moment which I want to live. | |
| Did you ever think you'd get to this point where you're in such detail getting downloads from the Lord about different ways to help other believers pray? | |
| I would never have guessed it. | |
| I would never have guessed. | |
| I was, you know, involved in addiction, prostitution, crime, almost went to prison. | |
| And I would have fallen off the chair if you would have told me I'd be preaching the gospel. | |
| Much less writing books and helping people grow. | |
| But what happened is as God taught me things, I wanted to help people learn how to apply these things because I came into the gospel. | |
| I came into this relationship with Jesus not knowing anything, not knowing how to live any victory. | |
| And so these victorious tidbits, these tools that he's taught me, I want to help other people. | |
| Amen. | |
| Friends, we have Pastor Michelle Steele with us. | |
| We're going to be right back with her. | |
| I want to take a quick minute of your time. | |
| We have a sponsor for today, so I want you to watch this. | |
| If you have a heart, you need nitric oxide. | |
| Even the University of Florida called nitric oxide the spark of life in the cell. | |
| This miracle molecule is essential for cardiovascular health, improving blood flow, lowering blood pressure, and boosting your energy. | |
| So what it does, it's balancing the neurotransmitters. | |
| It's increasing blood flow throughout the body. | |
| It's protecting you from the number one killer of everybody, which is cardiovascular disease. | |
| With Cardio Miracle, you're unlocking the potential for extraordinary health and vitality. | |
| Again, we have to feed our brains. | |
| And so this not only feeds the brain with the appropriate ingredients and nutrition, but also the blood flow. | |
| You know, for instance, you out there, you know, when you stand up and you get dizzy and you feel like you want to fall, especially the older population, we have hip fractures and things. | |
| It's because we're not getting enough of the hydration that we need. | |
| So the water, but also the blood flow dynamics shift over time. | |
| And so the nitric oxide helps to even that out because you're getting the nutrition you need. | |
| And again, the nitric oxide and getting that blood flow, the pressure head of blood to your brain. | |
| Take it before your workout, take it after your workout, receive the benefits. | |
| It's amazing. | |
| Cardio Miracle is a winner and it's worth a try. | |

|
Resting in Prayer
00:15:55
|
|
| Every time I don't drink it, I feel weird. | |
| Maybe something's wrong with me, right? | |
| Listen, you're joining this conversation today. | |
| Pay attention. | |
| It's going to be life-changing. | |
| It's one of those conversations that you're not going to want to miss. | |
| The three of us have a testimony, but the truth is that without God, without prayer, we will not be where we are today. | |
| And Pastor, I got to ask you this. | |
| One of the most heart-wrenching chapters that you wrote, you talk about you may need a mental reset. | |
| I can stop right there, and everybody watching would identify, we are tired, we are exhausted. | |
| Tell me more about this wrenching chapter that you write about. | |
| I was experiencing a time in my family when I had one of my children making very dangerous decisions for their life. | |
| They had just time after time made decisions that pushed the line to the point that they had attempted suicide and we had to take them to the emergency room to have their stomach pumped. | |
| And I'm laying in the bed that night and I am trying to rehearse all of the answers because I'm the mom. | |
| I've got the answers, right? | |
| If she would just listen to me, I could fix this problem. | |
| And my husband, he had cast his care upon the Lord and rolled over and went to sleep. | |
| And it's almost midnight. | |
| I am there in this constant battle in my mind of trying to do the same, trying to, Lord, I cast the care of this onto you. | |
| I'm trusting you. | |
| You're going to help us reach her. | |
| And every time I would cast my care upon the Lord, I would try to fall asleep. | |
| And then it was like my mind would kick back on. | |
| It was like without my permission, my thoughts went back to that that I was trying not to think about. | |
| And I realized I have allowed the worry and the care of this situation to take me mentally to a place that I am no longer of a sound mind. | |
| I'm no longer governing what my mind is thinking about. | |
| And so it took me a little bit, but I had to take the word and I had memorized Psalm 91. | |
| And so I started at chapter Psalm 91, verse 1. | |
| And he that dwells in the secret place of the most high God shall abide in the shadow of the Almighty. | |
| If I get out of bed, I'm going to wake my husband up. | |
| We'd both be up. | |
| I got to stay there in the bed and I'm whispering it. | |
| He that dwells in the secret place. | |
| Amen. | |
| So I'm going through that whole chapter. | |
| It took me a few times until I got my mind under control of that worry and that care and the frustration and the anxiety. | |
| And I realized and I repented to the Lord for allowing the care to get such a stronghold in me. | |
| Wow. | |
| You're talking about me. | |
| And I had to remind myself that the word is the force that I need in my praying. | |
| And for me to bring my emotions, my worry, and my care to try to fix it is not going to profit. | |
| But I need to stay spiritually strong, not emotionally strong. | |
| I can't fix it out of my resources as a mom. | |
| And so that's where I found myself needing a mental reset. | |
| And I had to go back and allow the resources that are available to me from the word of God, from the power of Jesus' name, the application of the blood. | |
| I had to go back to spiritual tools instead of my emotional tools. | |
| Wait a minute. | |
| You said something powerful. | |
| 3 a.m., 5 a.m., those worryness, how we're going to pay the bills. | |
| How are we going to stay ahead of the game? | |
| How are we going to plan for the future? | |
| We don't got enough for retirement. | |
| We don't have enough for vacationing. | |
| The wife needs this. | |
| The kids need that. | |
| I need this. | |
| Lord, the tires are going out. | |
| I mean, those simple things can really drown us in anxiety and the pressure of constantly battling. | |
| The Bible talks about the battle takes place in the mind. | |
| Then dad used to always tell us, whatever happens in the mind happens in time, right? | |
| Meaning you keep dwelling on those things. | |
| And this shows for you today. | |
| Because whatever you're worrying about in the middle of the night, it's not going to fix it. | |
| Your worryness, your thermometer of level of worry doesn't tell you or it doesn't mean how much faith you have, but it's the spiritual aspect that the devil tries to torment. | |
| Yes. | |
| Wow. | |
| Jesus said in Luke, I believe it's chapter 21, that in the last days, men's hearts will fail them for fear of something that hasn't even happened yet. | |
| It's the thought of it, the worry of it. | |
| And Jesus never used the word heart to mean the literal physical heart. | |
| When he taught about the heart, it was always about the spirit of man. | |
| So the spiritual supply is what's important. | |
| And he said the spiritual supply will fail if you allow worry. | |
| He said in another chapter, he said, don't let your hearts be charged or burdened or overstressed with worry. | |
| And he put worry in the same list with drunkenness because worry causes you to be desensitized. | |
| It numbs you down. | |
| You know, drunk people don't have that same sensibility. | |
| They don't have the same clarity. | |
| And worried people don't either. | |
| The anxiety of worry will cause that same feeling of spiritual numbness. | |
| And you won't hear in your spirit what you need to hear to know what to do in that situation if you've allowed worry and fear to overcharge, supercharge your heart. | |
| We've got to, the book of Proverbs says the strong spirit of a man will sustain him. | |
| The Amplified says, in times of sickness or problems, the strong spirit is where I'm going to get the ability to come through this problem, not the emotional effort that I bring to the situation. | |
| That's incredible, isn't it, Wando? | |
| Listen. | |
| Lean on the Lord. | |
| I'm laughing because you're bringing, this is so true. | |
| I know you're identifying with this. | |
| I am. | |
| You're speaking to me. | |
| And I'm thinking about dad telling Ricky and I over the years, he said, trust, delight, and commit. | |
| And then several years later, Ricky comes back and says, Dad, you forgot about rest. | |
| Amen. | |
| Here, we know how to trust God and we learn how to trust God. | |
| We learn how to commit everything to the Lord. | |
| And yet, at the end of the day, we don't learn how to rest. | |
| Oh, my. | |
| How important? | |
| Can I ask you too, Pastor? | |
| How important is it rest for us to rest in the Lord and not keep worrying and building on this worry? | |
| That's right. | |
| You know, it's important. | |
| He wrote the book, The Big Three Mountain Movers. | |
| It was very, you know, 70s and 80s era of him because they were just, those dudes were workhorses. | |
| Those men worked for the gospel and they, you know, they were putting in 23, 24 hours a day and they'd do it again the next day for years on end of their life. | |
| So I told the dad, it's funny, you know, you left out the rest portion because that generation, I said, you guys didn't believe in it, did you? | |
| You know, you can be in a process, you can trust in the Lord and still have anxiety. | |
| You can delight in the Lord but still have anxiety. | |
| You can commit your ways to the Lord and still have anxiety. | |
| There's one thing of that that you cannot do at all if you have an anxious spirit, and that's rest. | |
| Like you were just saying, in order to achieve true rest in the Lord, you have to cast your burden on him. | |
| His yoke is easy. | |
| His burden is light. | |
| All of them. | |
| Everything from the light bill to the, you know, the family member who's not saved, who may be going through turbulent times in their life. | |
| It's casting everything on him. | |
| Rest is critical because I believe rest shows where you are spiritually. | |
| Can you rest? | |
| I believe you're in a good place with the Lord. | |
| Why do we feel so guilty, Pastor? | |
| That's the devil. | |
| That's a charismatic answer. | |
| That's the devil talking. | |
| Why do we feel so guilty to rest? | |
| Sometimes I feel so guilty to rest. | |
| It's like, I feel like I have to be busy all the time. | |
| And my wife tells me, slow down. | |
| Just rest. | |
| The Sabbath is there for a reason. | |
| Help me, counsel me, Pastor. | |
| Why do I feel guilty for feeling that I have to rest? | |
| I think that the entrance of the word brings light. | |
| And that's one thing that, as you were mentioning, we've had a whole generation who did not have that light on rest. | |
| But the Bible says we're to labor to enter into that rest. | |
| And that rest of believing, that rest of faith, that rest of trusting in God. | |
| When it all comes down to it, I don't have all the answers. | |
| And I can't fix all these problems, but I do have a relationship with the one who does. | |
| And that resting is the relationship. | |
| That resting is that fellowshipping with God. | |
| And we say, cast your care, and that can become something that sounds clichaic. | |
| Karen's telling me to cast my care again. | |
| She doesn't know what I'm going through. | |
| Exactly. | |
| And what we're saying, though, in reality is enter into that conversation with God. | |
| Go to him. | |
| You know, as a pastor for years, I've found that when people, when I watch them go to six different persons in the congregation and tell the same prayer request, I know they haven't prayed about it. | |
| Because if they'd prayed about it and left it with the Lord, then they would have called it done. | |
| But the fact that they're going from person to person means they don't feel like they've connected to somebody with the answer. | |
| When I go to God and I connect with him, I know he's the one who has the answer. | |
| And so a lot of what, when we're dealing with intervention praying, that people become under the weight of it is they try to take it upon themselves to fix in prayer in their part when what we're wanting to do is connect to the one who has the answer that my loved one needs. | |
| I want to connect to the one who has the peace of God that passes understanding and bring his peace into my loved one's life. | |
| I want to connect to the one who has the supernatural power to free them from that drug that they have tried every other way to get free from. | |
| But the power of the anointing, I want to connect him to them. | |
| And so that rest enters in when I realize when I see him, when I know him, he's the one with the answer and he's with me. | |
| He's on my side and he's answering my prayer. | |
| He's answering my prayer. | |
| What a critical part of assurance, my love. | |
| He is answering my prayer. | |
| And one of the ways to do it is get this book. | |
| I know I don't mean to plug it, but I do mean to plug it because you talk about this is a Bible study, by the way, because you deal with week one, week two, and then you go all the way up week three, week four, and it gives you the guidelines of what you can pray for, meditate on, get your Bible out. | |
| It's going to strengthen your prayer life. | |
| It's going to strengthen your ability to accept the fact that you've been accepted. | |
| Isn't that wonderful? | |
| Is the fact that I can rest knowing that my wife loves me unconditionally, even if I smell, even if I don't wash the dishes good, even if I don't do things the way she likes them to do it. | |
| But I want to tell you something. | |
| I rest in the fact that she doesn't judge me for it. | |
| She loves me through it. | |
| And this book right here is going to love you through the process of the things that you practically need to apply in your life. | |
| Will you do that today? | |
| Call the number right now, 1-888-988-1588. | |
| Get this book. | |
| And while you're at it, get the companion. | |
| Can I call it a companion? | |
| I like that. | |
| I like that one. | |
| The companion. | |
| It's not good for men to be alone. | |
| We got to have a companion. | |
| So call the number today or visit the website and shop or affiliate page today. | |
| That's right. | |
| Intervention prayers. | |
| So I want to ask you again, what led you to write this book? | |
| I know you'd wrote Escaping Hell is Your Personal Testimony, but now you wrote a book that not just tells people how you can get away escaping hell, but now you've given people really weapons of warfare. | |
| Why'd you write it? | |
| In telling my testimony throughout the years, I've encountered a lot of families who have loved ones who are in situations like mine. | |
| And they would come to me and give their prayer requests. | |
| Please pray for my daughter. | |
| Pray for my son. | |
| And I began to realize when I would hear their prayer request, how much frustration, how much emotional distress was in their praying. | |
| And I realized then, just as knowing from my own personal experience, I didn't know how to pray when I first got saved. | |
| And these people are praying out of their emotions and they're not having the effectiveness in prayer that they could have. | |
| And some of the things that I began to write were things that I learned and things that I began to teach in my church. | |
| But one of the things that, and I talk about it, I call it pray for the root and not the fruit. | |
| You know, Jesus in Luke chapter 13, he gave a parable about a man who went out to his garden and he went to get a fig off the fig tree. | |
| And he said, for three years, I've had this tree and there's no fruit on it. | |
| And he says, cut it down. | |
| And the gardener says to him, Give me a year to work on the roots. | |
| I'm going to dig around it and I'm going to fertilize the roots. | |
| And a lot of times when we're praying for our loved ones, we're looking at what's on their branches. | |
| And if you pray by what you see on the news, you're already at a disadvantage because the enemy's already got that in play. | |
| We don't want to get our prayer cues from the six o'clock news. | |
| We don't want to get our prayer cues from the report of what's going on in our loved ones' lives. | |
| Wow. | |
| There's a difference between the offensive team of the football and the defensive team of the football. | |
| And it's about all I know about sports, y'all. | |
| But I do know this, that when they want to score, they put the offensive team out. | |
| Come on. | |
| The defensive team has a different goal. | |
| And if we pray from defensive mode all the time, we are behind the enemy's workings. | |
| We need to get the offensive team on the prayer field and pray the offensive, praying for the root and not for the fruit. | |
| Because what we see playing out in their life, if we're just going around dealing with, Lord, they've got this addiction and Lord, they've made this decision and Lord, they're facing this time in jail. | |
| Lord, this, then what we need to do is go down to the root. | |
| Father, they need to know the love of God that passes all understanding, the height, the depth, the width, the breadth of the love of God. | |
| They need to have the eyes of their understanding fully flooded with light. | |
| Lord, let the word of Christ dwell in them richly. | |
| Those things are fertilizers for the root that are going to make a difference. | |
| And that's one of the things that I endeavor to pray, teach in intervention prayers. | |
| I found that people spend a lot of time trying to talk God into doing something he's already wanting to do. | |
| He's already, salvation is his plan. | |
| But they're twisting God's arm. | |
|
Please Save My Loved One
00:02:24
|
|
| Please save, please save, please save my loved one. | |
| Please save my son. | |
| Set my son free. | |
| And God's on board. | |
| He's like, I'm already, if I got on my knees and begged my husband, marry me, please marry me, please marry me. | |
| What can he do? | |
| He's at a disadvantage. | |
| There's nothing more he can do to make me, to be more married to me than he already is. | |
| And God, there's nothing more God can do to be more willing to save our loved ones than he already is. | |
| So that's not our objective, is to get in the face of God and talk him into saving our loved ones. | |
| Our objective is to get on the line with God and pray those intervention prayers that open the door for the power of God and make available. | |
| The Bible says the prayer of the righteous makes tremendous power available. | |
| And that's what we need. | |
| We need the power of God available in our loved ones' lives. | |
| Amen. | |
| We need it available in our loved ones' lives. | |
| Friends, I want you to go and get this. | |
| Maybe you're watching right now and you feel like you're losing your family. | |
| Pastor Michelle has been here telling us that there is still time to pray those intervention prayers. | |
| God is still moving. | |
