Cancer Patients on Keto

|
|
| And what happened was years ago, I started having so many people come to see me with advanced cancers that were only giving weeks to months to live to a year or so. | |
| And there was no answer for these people. | |
| They'd given up on them. | |
| They couldn't give them any more chemo. | |
| Their radiation was maxed out. | |
| No more surgeries. | |
| And these people came to me and said, Dr. Cober, what I do? | |
| So I started studying, and I took a fellowship in integrative cancer care. | |
| And I found that the ketogenic diet is one of the best things you can do for cancer patients because, according to a major researcher, Dr. Thomas Siegfried, this literally turns off most of the fuel supply for cancer. | |
| You see, cancers are sugar feeders. | |
| And so we shifted their metabolism from burning sugar to burning fat. | |
| And all of a sudden, we took away the main fuel supply for cancer. | |
| And these advanced cancer patients started living longer. | |
| Some actually went into remission. | |
| We started treating advanced cancers like a chronic disease. | |
| After doing this for years, I saw something amazing. | |
| I saw that type 2 diabetics, their blood sugar started normalizing. | |
| They got off their diabetic medication. | |
| I saw that they started losing all that belly fat. | |
| Now, I was giving these patients like 10 tablespoons of fat a day in the form of grass-fed butter, coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil, nuts and seeds, and nut butters. | |
| And we prepared their meals, we monitored them closely, and then I saw all these amazing other benefits, especially weight loss. | |
| I started my patients with type 2 diabetes with obesity, and they started literally targeting the belly fat, started burning first. | |
| And so one thing I saw that was absolutely amazing, their appetite was turned off. | |
| And here's what was happening. | |
| For most people, the majority, 99% of people are burning sugar as their fuel. | |
| Sugar, carbs, starches, they're all the same. | |
| They're like white rice, brown rice, sweet potatoes, even though they're healthier than baked potatoes. | |
| It still breaks down to sugar. | |
| And so when you're eating a lot of that, you're burning sugar. | |
| So what happens? | |
| Insulin spikes, and then it goes down after three or four hours, then it unleashes a ravenous appetite. | |
| Now with fats, fats stay in your system and you stay full for six to eight hours. | |
| It takes a whole lot longer to break them down. | |

|
| Then when you go into the keto zone, all of a sudden you're in a zone that literally suppresses appetite when you're in the keto zone. | |
| Well one thing, one thing that this seminar, at this seminar, this doctor said to Don, which I thought was really powerful. | |
| Don asked him, he said, what is the number one thing for a cancer patient? | |
| What is the number one thing if your family member had cancer, what is the one thing you would have them do? | |
| And his answer to Don, this is a major, major answer. | |
| This was one of the major cancer researchers. | |
| This was like 10, 15 years ago. | |
| Yeah. | |
| Somewhere like that. | |
| He said, I would make them do the keto diet. | |
| The keto diet. | |
| Ketogenic diet. | |
| Ketogenic diet. | |
| He goes, but Doc, they won't stay on it. | |
| He goes, it becomes too hard for them. | |
| Now, that's what Don heard. | |
| He heard that it's going to be too hard. | |
| If it's too hard to do, then people won't do it. | |
| But you don't give up. | |
| No. | |
| He kept praying, testing this, testing that. | |
| So what this is, is this is a modified ketogenic diet. | |
| But he has made it so that you can do it and literally live it. | |
