You know, the word homeless is a propaganda word. | |
It's designed to make you think that the people that are living on the street are there because rent is too high, housing is scarce. | |
Well, if that were true, we would see the worst homelessness in Beverly Hills or Carmel, California, or other very wealthy neighborhoods. | |
But we don't. | |
We see it in the poor neighborhoods because that's where the city leaders have decided to contain the drug-using, drug-dealing, and drug-addicted population. | |
I think the other thing we point out is that rents increased all over the United States, including in warm cities like Miami. | |
That reduced their homeless population. | |
The bottom line is you have as many people living on the street as you allow. | |
San Francisco only shelters one-third of its homeless population. |
