Time Text
Good evening, and right before we dive into the main story, I mention this often, but I mean it every single time.
If you are sick and tired of all the censorship on this platform, as well as many of the other platforms out there, and if you're looking for a source of actual, honest news, well, consider checking out The Epoch Times.
Because we've recently extended our awesome sale and subscriptions, just 25 cents a week for the entirety of the year, which works itself out, if you do the math, to just a single dollar a month.
And so, if you are indeed looking for a source of honest news, which oftentimes completely goes under the radar or is actually blacked out by the mainstream legacy news outlets, well, consider trying a subscription for yourself.
I'll throw a link to the sale page.
It'll be right there at the top of the description box below.
I hope you check it out.
Now, diving into the main topic, over in the state of Georgia, President Trump, as well as 18 other defendants, are facing charges related to the 2020 election.
Specifically, this case was brought forth by state prosecutors under the RICO law, which stands for the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
This is an extremely broad and powerful law which is currently on the books in 33 different states as well as at the federal level.
And it's used to essentially allow prosecutors to combat mob-style criminal activity.
Essentially, the way that the law is designed allows prosecutors to target the kingpin who typically intentionally keeps themselves several steps removed from the actual crimes being committed on the ground.
And so in plain English, this means that the Georgia state prosecutors, they are charging this whole case as if it was a case involving the mafia, with the idea being that President Trump was the kingpin leading everyone else in the commission of this election crime.
And among the defendants was this woman right here, Ms.
Sidney Powell.
Now, if you remember back to the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, it was Ms.
Sidney Powell who was bringing forth lawsuits across the whole country, challenging the results of the official ballot counts.
But whether she was doing that on her own behest, or whether she was working with President Trump's campaign team, well, that was always a bit of a question mark.
That's because shortly after the election, President Trump issued this message right here on Twitter saying that, among other things, Sidney Powell will be working alongside Rudy Giuliani, Jenna Ellis, and his other lawyers in order to spearhead their legal effort.
Meaning that she would be his attorney.
And then also in that same month, Ms.
Sidney Powell appeared alongside Rudy Giuliani and Trump's other lawyers at a press conference discussing the 2020 election.
However, in the timeframe of about a week, the Trump team began distancing themselves from Ms.
Sidney Powell.
For instance, towards the end of November, specifically on November the 22nd, just about a week after President Trump sent out that initial tweet, the Trump campaign's legal department, they issued a clarification saying that Sidney Powell was never part of the actual legal team.
Here was, in fact, the statement that was released by Trump's legal team again on November 22nd of the year 2020.
Quote, Sidney Powell is practicing law on her own.
She is not a member of the Trump legal team.
She is also not a lawyer for the president in his personal capacity.
Now, at the time, Ms.
Sidney Powell issued a statement of her own, saying that she agreed with the campaign and that she would continue to pursue legal action on her own, separate from Trump's legal team.
Here was a part of her statement that was released again back in November of the year 2020.
And indeed, just as she said she would...
After Trump's campaign caught ties with Ms.
Sidney Powell, she continued to file her own independent election-related lawsuits across the whole country, in Arizona, in Georgia, in Michigan, as well as in Wisconsin.
Now, those cases didn't really go anywhere, but regardless of that, though, the reason that she was included in this Georgia State-RICO case is actually not tied to her election lawsuits.
Rather, it's tied to something that took place over in Coffey County, Georgia.
It's a rural county over in Georgia.
Quote...
State prosecutors accused Ms.
Powell of participating in the alleged conspiracy and conspiracies to commit computer trespass, computer theft, computer invasion of privacy, election fraud, and defrauding the state.
The charges are tied to a January 7, 2021 incident in which personnel of data forensic company Sullivan Strickler copied data from election machines and computers in Coffey County, Georgia.
Essentially, this was a plan to copy the files on the election machines in that county to prove out election fraud, although that plan never really went anywhere.
Regardless, though, while initially Ms.
Sidney Powell was fighting the charges against her, saying that, for one, she was not Trump's lawyer, so she should not be included in the RICO case, that she never asked for the election files to get copied, and that she only paid for the files because the company that did copy them was allegedly extorting her.
That was the argument that she was making, but all that is a bit irrelevant now.
That's because three days ago, Ms.
Sidney Powell accepted a plea deal from the prosecutors.
Specifically, instead of going to trial on seven felonies, instead, Ms.
Powell pleaded guilty to only six misdemeanors, for which she will be given six years of probation as well as a $6,000 fine, which is significantly less than the actual jail time that she was facing if she were to be found guilty.
Here's, in fact, a short video of her accepting the plea deal.
Do you understand that by pleading guilty, you are giving up the right to a trial by jury?
Yes.
Do you understand that by pleading guilty you're giving up the right to remain silent and not to incriminate yourself?
Yes.
Do you understand that by pleading guilty you're giving up the right to confront witnesses that the state may bring to testify against you?
Yes.
I apologize.
How do you plead to the six counts of conspiracy to commit intentional interference with performance of election duties?
Guilty.
Do you understand the nature of the charges that have been reaccused and that you would be pleading guilty to today?
I do, sir.
And you've heard all the rights that the state has gone through that you would waive by going forward with this plea.
Do you still wish to waive those rights?
I do.
And are you pleading guilty today because you agree that there is a sufficient factual basis, that there are enough facts that support this plea of guilty?
However, outside of the reduced sentence, well, there's actually something else.
Because she took the plea deal, Ms.
Sidney Powell will now be required to testify against the other co-defendants if the prosecution asks her to, including against President Trump himself.
Now, in terms of his reaction, just yesterday, President Trump took to his own social media platform, Truth Social, to issue a response to Sidney Powell and her plea deal.
Here's part of what he said, and just for reference, well, as ridiculous as it sounds being here in America, well, I will have to block out parts of a statement, otherwise the YouTube algorithm will likely just take down this entire episode.
we live in.
Regardless, here was part of what President Trump said in the statement.
Quote, Despite the fake news reports, to the contrary, and without even reaching out to ask the Trump campaign, Ms. Powell was not my attorney and never was.
In fact, she would have been conflicted.
Ms. Powell did a valiant job of representing a very unfairly treated and governmentally abused General Mike Flynn, but to no avail.
His prosecution, despite the facts, was ruthless.
He was an innocent man, much like many other innocent people who are being persecuted by this now a fascist government of ours, and I was honored to give him a full pardon.
And so, judging from this message, just like what happened two years ago, President Trump appears to be putting some distance between himself and Sidney Powell.
Although, what's perhaps even more surprising was that shortly after Sidney Powell accepted a plea deal, literally one day, well, another co-defendant did as well, which we'll get into right after I introduce today's sponsor by showing you this little piece of money.
Or rather, I should say that this is fake money being printed into oblivion by those geniuses over in Washington, D.C. And so before they completely obliterate your life savings, what I recommend you do is to convert that fake money into real money, which is physical gold and silver.
And the best company to use is the sponsor of today's episode, American Hartford Gold, who also happens to be my own personal gold and silver bullion dealer.
They have thousands of other five-star ratings across the country.
They have an A-plus rating with the Better Business Bureau.
They ship quickly, directly to your doorstep.
Their product listings are awesome.
They're stacked with great options of gold and silver bullion and coins.
And they have amazing customer service.
When you pick up the phone and call them, you feel good knowing you support a company that supports the truth getting out into the wider American audience.
And so, calling them up is a no-brainer.
But best of all, if you tell them that Roman sent you, they will throw in up to $5,000 worth of free silver with your first purchase.
It's 866-242-2352.
Or you can simply text the word Roman, R-O-M-A-N, Roman, to 65532.
Of course, all their details will be down in the description box below.
And now, let's head on back to the studio.
Now, there is something else worth mentioning in this case, which is the fact that one day after Sidney Powell accepted a plea deal from the prosecutors, another one of President Trump's former lawyers did as well.
Mr.
Ken Chesborough, who was also among the 18 co-defendants in the RICO case over in Georgia, he pled guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to commit filing false documents.
And, just like Ms.
Sidney Powell, with this plea deal now in place, Mr.
Chesborough agreed to testify in any of the future RICO cases if the prosecution were to call on him.
Although it is unclear how much use the prosecution would actually have from his testimony.
In fact, along that very line, Mr.
Chesborough's lawyer recently did an interview wherein he said that the only person implicated in this particular plea deal was Mr.
Chesborough himself.
And so while Mr.
Chesborough did take responsibility for conspiracy to commit filing the false documents, I want to make something clear.
He did not implicate anyone else.
He implicated himself in that particular charge.
And while he is required to go testify truthfully if he's called by the state, and Mr.
Chesborough is a man of his word, and he will go testify truthfully if called by the state, the state's going to have to decide at some point whether they think Mr.
Chesborough's testimony will help them.
And if they believe it will help them, well, they'll call him and he'll come testify.
But also at the same time, Katie, I will say, if he's called by a defendant, he will come testify and testify truthfully.
Scott, listen, you and I have been doing this for a long time, right?
Although I technically don't do it anymore.
I do this.
But your client gave a recorded proffer to the state of Georgia.
And what did you say?
I'm not at liberty to say exactly what he said, but here's what I'm at liberty to say.
Someone asked me earlier, if you were Donald Trump, would you be worried?
And I could personally, honestly answer no.
And it's not that Mr.
Chesber is trying to protect Donald Trump or anyone else.
He's not.
He's ready to move on with his life.
But I was there in the proffer.
Again, I'm not going to say what was said because it is a confidential proffer and that will probably get me in trouble.
But I can say that I personally do not believe the state will call him to testify on their behalf.
If they do, and if I'm wrong, Mr.
Chesborough will be there.
He'll testify truthfully.
And just for your general reference, as a response to Mr.
Chesborough's plea deal, President Trump posted a transcript from the CNN interview that we just watched over on Truth Social, and he added this, quote, And so, there you have it.
We'll just have to wait and see whether any of the other 18 co-defendants decide to take plea deals as well.
And also, in regards to what effect these plea deals might actually have, Well, we'll just have to wait until the actual trial starts to see for ourselves.
If you'd like to read more about the cases of either Ms.
Sidney Powell or Mr.
Ken Chesborough, I'll throw my reference notes.
They'll be down in the description box below this video for you to peruse at your own leisure whenever you'd like.
And then lastly, now that Ms.
Sidney Powell actually took the plea deal, the prosecutors, as I mentioned earlier, can compel her to give testimony as a part of the RICO case.
And although right now it's not exactly clear how exactly the prosecutors might use Sidney Powell, well, there is a possible guess.
You see, there was a meeting at the White House which took place on Friday, December 18th of 2020.
This was a rather famous meeting between President Trump, General Mike Flynn, Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, as well as the former CEO of Overstock.com, Mr.
Patrick Byrne.
And this particular meeting was rather famous because, for one, it was during this meeting that the idea Of assigning Ms.
Sidney Powell as a special counsel on election fraud.
It was in this meeting that it was first introduced.
And secondly, about an hour after this meeting concluded, President Trump sent out that famous tweet urging people to come to Washington, D.C. on January the 6th and adding that it will be wild.
And for a long time, despite this meeting being so famous, nobody knew what was actually discussed behind closed doors.
And so, the prosecution might use Sidney Powell's plea deal to force her about testifying regarding what was actually said during that meeting at the White House.
However, here's the best part.
You don't actually have to wait until Ms.
Sidney Powell testifies, or if she testifies, in order to find out what was said during that meeting.
That's because, about a year ago, Mr.
Patrick Byrne sat down exclusively with us here at the Epoch Times, and he told us exactly point by point what took place during that famous meeting over at the White House.
Now, of course, it goes without saying that despite the fact that what he told us is basically a matter of actual American historical record, well, it's not welcome here on YouTube due to the regime of censorship.
And so we published that interview over on EpicTV, our awesome no-censorship video platform, where, by the way, I publish anywhere between one to three exclusive episodes of Facts Matter every single week.
And so if you'd like to watch that interview between myself and Mr.
Patrick Byrne, if you'd like to watch some extra episodes of Facts Matter every single week, including a huge backlog from the last two or three years, And if you would also like to get access to some awesome content over on the Epoch Times' website, well, now's a great time to check it out, because as I mentioned at the top of the episode, we recently extended our awesome sale and subscriptions.
