On July 2nd, 2011, when temperatures in Phoenix hit 118 degrees Fahrenheit, Arpaio measured the temperature inside tent city tents as 145 degrees Fahrenheit. Some inmates complained that their fans near their beds were not working and that their shoes were melting from the heat.
