The NIH guidelines state there is insufficient evidence to recommend for or against the use of inhaled budesonide for treating COVID-19.

Budesonite is mentioned in the NIH's COVID treatment guidelines in the section titled, quote, immunomodulators under evaluation for the treatment of COVID-19. It's something that they think merits evaluation, which is a little different than Bartlett's silver bullet claim. Budesonide is mentioned 39 times in the entire 365-page document, like in this passage from page 217. Quote, there is insufficient evidence for the panel to recommend either for or against the use of inhaled budesonide for the treatment of COVID-19. Most of the other times it comes up is in the context of the guidelines discussing studies that looked at budesonide's effectiveness in treating COVID and how the studies were inconclusive and further research was required.

Dr. Bartlett is misleading the audience by implying that the NIH considers budesonide a silver bullet cure for COVID-19.

The fact that the drug is mentioned in the guidelines means nothing, but it's the sort of thing that a con man might say if he wanted to make the audience think that even the NIH admits that this is a silver bullet, which is the game that's being played by Dr. Bartlett here on Alex's show.
