Budesonite is mentioned in the NIH's COVID treatment guidelines in the section titled, quote, immunomodulators under evaluation for the treatment of COVID-19. It's something that they think merits evaluation, which is a little different than Bartlett's silver bullet claim. Budesonide is mentioned 39 times in the entire 365-page document, like in this passage from page 217. Quote, there is insufficient evidence for the panel to recommend either for or against the use of inhaled budesonide for the treatment of COVID-19. Most of the other times it comes up is in the context of the guidelines discussing studies that looked at budesonide's effectiveness in treating COVID and how the studies were inconclusive and further research was required.
