Hartford Van Dyke wrote 'Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars' while serving an eight-year prison sentence for fraud and tax evasion.
It's because at that point, in 2003, the only way he could communicate with anyone was by letters, because he was in prison. I thought it was going to be in a forest. I was going the wrong direction. Van Dyke was at that time serving an eight-year sentence for fraud. He and a co-conspirator had tried to pass off over $3 million in fake currency.
