Light shining on a particle forces the wave function to collapse, not human observation.

But what they're proving is that light affects light. Not that the human mind, it's not that when we observe it, we force the wave function to collapse. It's that in order to observe it, we have to shine light on it, which then forces the wave function to collapse. It's not like our eyes are doing it.
