Because it's simultaneously a terrifying display of different levels of explicitness about a desire to live in a Christian theocracy. You know, it's not about standing up for your right to be able to practice your religion. It's about enforcing your religious beliefs on the government. Making the government adhere to your religious beliefs at the expense of everyone else who does not share your beliefs.

And I think that it's important to recognize that one of the major problems is the blurring here of this is not political. This isn't about politics. This is not about policies. This is something else altogether.
