But these are idealists.

So how do you have a currency without gold?
So America said to them, hey guys, you don't need gold because the dollar is linked to gold.
So we'll give you a bunch of dollars and you can link your currency to the dollar.

Everybody said yes, trusting America to keep its dollar linked to gold.
But nobody talks about the fact that America continued going to war after World War II.
America continued to exert its dominance globally.
America had a proxy war with Russia in Korea, the Forgotten War, in the 50s.
Then they had a proxy war with Russia and Vietnam.
And we're going to talk about proxy wars later on.
It was the French who, I believe, first said, hey, America's going to war all the time.
That's very expensive.
How do we know they have enough gold to pay for all these wars?
Because they say the dollar is backed by gold, but they're going to war and that's very expensive.
I don't want dollars anymore.
I want my gold back.
And they told the American government, here, take your dollars that the franc is linked to and give me my gold.
And at the time, the dollar was linked to gold.
I think it even said on the note, exchangeable for its weight in gold.
So America gave the dollars back.
And the French, for the first time in human motherfucking history, were correct about something.
That America was printing more dollars than they had the gold for and that we were scamming the system.
So when England asked for its gold back, America thought, shit, there's more dollars than there is gold.

We don't have enough gold.
So now we're going to de-link the dollar and gold.

So now the dollar is backed by nothing but the fact that you must accept the dollar globally or we're going to come and kick your ass.

Any country that had these fantastical whimsical ideas about not using the dollar any longer, Libya, Iraq, etc.
