You're listening to the Liberty News Radio Network, and this is the political cesspool.
The Political Cesspool, going across the South and worldwide, as the South's foremost populist conservative radio program.
And here to guide you through the murky waters of the political cesspool is your host, James Edwards.
Welcome one and all to tonight's live broadcast of TPC.
It's Saturday evening, August the 9th, and there is a story that I don't believe, I mean, it is definitely a national news story, but to me, it's an understated one.
There's a lot of news out there about it, but I don't think nearly enough, and certainly not in our ranks.
And it involves a situation taking place in real time.
It's evolving even as we speak this weekend in the Lone Star state of Texas.
It involves a Republican plan the state's congressional maps and add up to five more U.S. House seats in what will be newly minted Republican districts.
So this would, of course, I mean, the ramifications of this are self-explanatory.
You have an opportunity not to flip a seat, but to create new ones that you will inevitably win if you are a Republican.
But that is interesting enough, I think.
What's even more interesting is that to prevent this plan from moving forward, the Democratic lawmakers in the state of Texas have fled Texas.
They're hiding out in places like Illinois.
They will not come back, denying the legislature from reaching a forward on a vote.
This is pretty radical.
And don't you know, we have former United States Congressman Steve Stockman of Texas himself, a man who has been in Congress twice in two different districts.
The first time they redrew his own district to help sort of get him out of there.
And then he went back in a second time years later.
But he is with us now.
Steve, first of all, thank you, my friend, for coming on tonight on short notice to help us break this down.
This is just truly remarkable.
Did I say enough about it to set the table?
And what am I missing?
Well, let me give you some background.
We in Texas, as every state, draws the lines after the census.
And I've been through two redistricting in my tenure.
And we even had a court case where the Supreme Court ruled our districts were unconstitutional.
And so we had to do mid-year drawing, too.
People don't realize in Texas we had Tom DeLay.
I don't know if you do remember Tom at all?
Well, of course, I never met him, but I know who he was, yes.
Yeah.
He was called the Hammer.
And what he did, which I thought was brilliant, he said, we had districts which were 80% Republican.
It was ridiculous.
And every Republican wants that district to be 80% because you have a primary, then it's over, right?
Well, he said, no, no, no, no, we're not going to do this.
We're going to go to 55%.
If you guys can't win at 55%, you don't deserve to be in office.
And so he went and handed lines redrawn, and we picked up extra seats because of what Tom DeLay did.
Well, this time, when Tom was no longer there, congressmen went back to 80% districts.
They should have never done that.
Had they drawn these lines originally correct, we'd have had five more seats, but they got cold feet and didn't draw them the way they should have been drawn.
So now they're redrawing them.
The Democrats once again are flipping out.
And people don't realize it.
Our state legislature only meets once every other year, and they only make $7,000 a year.
So they have to have other jobs.
I just read that.
Yeah, when they flee the state, they got jobs.
They got families.
They can't hold out forever.
It's two weeks before the session is going to be over.
It's a special session.
And I'll guarantee you, the governor would just call another session, and they'll have to flee again.
And eventually, financially, and for other reasons, they won't be able to hold out.
We only need 10 to get a quorum.
We don't need all 50.
We've got enough House Republicans in there that if we get 10, we get the quorum.
And they fled.
Also, they then decided not to vote on, they're not voting on the flood.
I had family members and friends who had to go to the funerals of little children because they didn't, the floods, I don't know if you're familiar with this, but in Texas, we had this ravaged flood come and kill a bunch of Christians at a Christian camp.
Oh, of course.
Yes, we covered that extensively.
Yes.
It was horrible.
And our friends, I have one friend in which they barely got out.
They hung on to a tree and they saved the life of several children.
And I have another friend who ended up losing his life and he also lost his grandkids.
He was taking care of his grandkids to take over to the Christian camp.
So the family member lost their parents and their own children.
It was horrible.
And they're now avoiding that vote.
This isn't just about redistricting.
It's horrible optics for the Democrats to do that.
It's just unbelievable.
And you're right.
The story is not being told fully.
But on your station, because you guys are for freedom and knowledge that your listener is going to hear stuff, you won't hear anywhere else.
And it's being hidden, and the press is burying it.
All right.
Well, thank you for saying that.
And thank you for that background.
And getting back to where we are right now, there's just so much to unpack here.
Just in your own words.
But you are certainly have your ear to the ground much more than I do.
You live in Texas.
You've represented the state of Texas and the United States Congress.
You're following this as much as anyone possibly can.
What exactly is the objective here with this redrawing?
The GOP in Texas, Governor Abbott, trying to do?
Well, it's so funny.
My favorite line was the governor of Massachusetts standing up there and saying, uh-oh, that's not good.
I think that's a fire alarm.
Let me repeat that.
The governor of Massachusetts gets up there and says, stands up in front of everybody, says, if the Texans are going to do this, we're going to do it too.
And everybody's cheering and everything.
The only problem is they gerrymandered Massachusetts so bad, there's not a single Republican.
And I'm sitting there going, they're doing this.
They're grandstanding, and they're lying because Massachusetts, California, Illinois, all the places they're fleeing to are already gerrymandered.
And by the way, Jerry was a Democrat who the word mander is from salamander because when he drew the district, it looked like a salamander, and his name was Jerry, so they call it gerrymandering.
I did not know that.
Is that a true story?
You learn something every time you talk to Steve Stockman.
Yeah, that's true.
And I actually think, I think it may have been Massachusetts, actually.
So here's the guys that were involved in gerrymandering the districts against Republicans.
Outraged that Republicans would do it.
This is classic Marxism where they accuse you of what they're doing, and they get real mad when you do what they do.
Just like they're mad.
You can't prosecute Obama.
He was a president.
You know?
Go ahead, Watch.
Oh, well, exactly.
No, and with no sense of embarrassment, I don't know if they don't see the hypocrisy in the double standards or if they just don't care at all.
But yes, I mean, they are absolutely saying that right now about Obama when they spent years doing that to Trump.
And of course, when they have the upper hand in the state, in fact, they do exactly what the Republicans should be doing.
I mean, this is war.
And this isn't just, okay, maybe your team wins, my team wins.
It's a sporting event.
We're all athletes.
You know, we all go home.
Now, this is something for the heart and soul of a country.
I mean, there are very, very serious things.
I think the Republicans absolutely should press every advantage to do everything they can to win with any means necessary.
And so redistricting, this is not illegal.
It is perfectly legal.
And if you are doing it, why wouldn't you do it to benefit your politics?
You want to know about cheating?
They cheated two other ways, too.
People aren't aware of this.
When they did the census, they accidentally several of the Democrat states like California, Illinois, they accidentally counted too many people.
And lo and behold, where do you think they low-called?
It was in Republican states, primarily Republican states.
So they screwed up the count.
But here's what's even more significant: they counted illegal aliens as citizens.
And remember, the Democrats in the Civil War counted slaves as two-thirds so they could get congressmen.
They wanted those votes.
So here are the Democrats again, just like they did 100 years ago or whatever, counting people that are not citizens.
Listen to statistic.
If they didn't count citizens, which Trump, by the way, is pushing, California would lose five seats, and that changes the whole electoral process for president.
The more seats that go to Republican states, the more likely a Republican win the presidency.
This is a huge deal.
Well, for sure.
I mean, it is very huge.
I mean, it's huge just on the absolute face value of it.
Again, you're not having to flip contested seats.
You are able to carve out five brand new ones and fill them with your people.
But again, I mean, what makes this one so interesting above and beyond that is that, I mean, the Democrats are not just simply refusing to show up for work.
They have fled the state.
And so, again, I mean, it just begs the question, Steve.
I mean, if this was such a novel idea, why wouldn't anyone, any party on any issue in any state or even in the United States Congress, if you're going to lose a vote, just leave?
I mean, surely there has to be some mechanisms to make this where it's not allowed.
Hang on one second.
We're coming up on the first break.
We'll repose it there.
The FBI is getting involved on this.
They're talking about arrests.
There are so many more layers to this onion that we will peel with our friend, former U.S. Congressman Steve Stockman.
Stay tuned.
It's all happening in Texas right now.
It's America's foremost printer of dissident literature, challenging the politically correct status quo with books mainstream publishers would otherwise censor.
Their catalog includes original translations from 20th century Europe, some never before available in English.
However, Antelope Hill is also home to contemporary right-wing authors such as Dr. Ricardo Duchesne, whose recently released magnum opus, Greatness and Ruin, examines why European civilization was so uniquely successful, yet has fallen so far.
Others include Kerry Bolton and our friend Paul Kersey, who have written on topics including the Cultural Revolution of the 1960s in Generation 68 and the impact of black crime and corruption in Escape from Detroit.
They also have books such as Faith and Heritage and The Sword of Christ, which defend nationalism from a Christian perspective and complete their catalog with novels and beautifully illustrated children's books.

Scott Bradley here.
Most Americans are painfully aware that the nation is on the wrong track and in dire straits.
Unfortunately, most political pundits only nibble around the edges when they claim to address the issues.
Even worse, many of the so-called solutions are simply rewarmed servings of what got us into the mess we currently face.
And the politicians think we're so gullible and naive that we'll buy their lies that they have reformed and now understand where they led us astray.
Unfortunately, the truth of the matter is that they simply wish to continue to hold power.
The solution to America's challenges is found in returning to the timeless principles found in the United States Constitution.
My book and lecture series will reawaken in Americans an understanding and love of the principles which made this nation the freest, most prosperous, happiest, and most respected nation on earth.

All right.
Still a lot to unpack this hour with Steve Stockman.
As I said, he was one of our star speakers back at our conference in South Carolina in May.
And he was there along with his wife, Patty, who is every bit as much the fighter that he is.
And believe me, when I say that is a high compliment because this is a man, they have put this man in prison.
Trump, of course, gave him the community, his sentence.
Been in Congress twice, just an incredible story of loss and redemption and overcoming.
And he is a shrewd political operator.
He is a great guy, funny guy, smart guy.
But when it gets time to get things done, this guy can carve people up.
And I mean that, you know, certainly in the best possible way you can imagine.
And just, it's been a lot of fun over the course of the last couple of years to be able to call him a friend.
And great to be talking to him again tonight.
So anyway, Steve, what we were saying before the break was if it was just, if it was so easy as, you know, whatever party is going to lose a vote, they just go out of town for a while and, you know, and wait till it passes.
Everyone would do this on every issue in every state, including the federal government.
So what are the mechanisms in place to sort of stop this from continuing on indefinitely?
We have two different policies.
Remember, the state of Texas drafts its own rules for our state House and Senate.
So not every state can do that.
There's different rules for each state.
For instance, in Congress, if they tried that, it would be very difficult.
They can't flee.
So it's different.
And in this case, in Texas, they have fled before.
And I think I mentioned this to you before, but they only get $7,000 a month, and they can't stay out forever.
They got families.
They got stuff that they got to do.
And my hunch is they're going to, when he calls, he'll probably call another special session.
They're eventually going to financially, at least 10 of them will have to come, or 12, I guess the total is, have to come back.
So it is interesting, and it's quite dramatic.
This is all over.
As I've said, it's all over the press.
But again, I don't think quite as much as maybe it should be.
I mean, again, the party that's going to be on the losing side of a vote fleeing the state, it almost sounds like some sort of a movie.
But as you mentioned, you're not going to get rich being a member of the state legislature in Texas or really in any state.
But in Texas, they make $7,200 a year.
You heard me right.
7200.
Less than $10,000 a year.
Now, of course, these people have other jobs, and sometimes their jobs, their other jobs are quite lucrative, or they're retired, and they just do this as a hobby.
But yeah, you're not going there to feed your family.
And they are talking about, and some of the people are very, you know, certainly middle class.
They're not all fabulously wealthy.
And so when you're fines of $500 a day, which I've seen the governor's office mention, you know, that's going to add up pretty quickly.
I mean, you're going to get to above and beyond your full annual pay in about a week or two.
Let me just read a couple of things here.
Again, ABC News.
Republicans in the state house will convene an attempt to advance efforts to redraw the state's congressional maps, producing as many as five more U.S. House seats for Republicans.
That is very big news.
But it's still unclear whether enough Democrats will be on hand to establish quorum.
The parties are at a crossroads.
Yeah.
You know, think about it though.
We only have a couple seats right now in the House.
I don't know how many seats is.
I'm guessing about four seats.
And if we lose four seats, we lose the House and then we lose Trump's presidency.
So this has a dramatic effect.
It could literally save the House.
Well, another question, and I'm entirely ignorant on this because I haven't thought beyond this current issue.
If they do withdraw the lines, I keep saying withdraw, redraw, redraw, redraw the lines.
If they create these five new districts in areas, when would these new representatives take office?
Would it be in the midterms or would it be in 2028?
No, no, no, no.
It's every two years.
So they'd take their seats in January of 27.
Wow.
Okay, so now that's interesting.
Well, here's what's even more interesting.
Early vote starts in January, and you have to file in November.
So you're talking months.
And if they go to a second special session, you're talking they're going to draw the lines and then within weeks they're starting to vote.
It's like incredibly how quickly once a state creates a new district, you know, and we're talking about, again, creating new districts that do not currently exist.
This is going to be five new districts that are drawn out from larger districts and there's going to be five new seats to fill.
But I didn't know what the process was or the timeline.
So you're saying if they get this done here, these new presumably Republican members of Congress who currently do not exist will be in 2027.
So they will be elected in 2026 in the midterms next year.
That just seems like a remarkably fast turnaround.
Well, even you got to realize, again, like I said, this is August.
The filing starts in November.
So that's, you know, September, October, November starts in about a little over 60 days.
Well, how quickly then?
Right.
So, I mean, yeah, exactly.
So you're talking about seats in districts that do not even exist yet, fielding new representatives that will go in, be elected in basically a year from now.
We're already in August.
You're talking about next November, but you can't even have candidates filing for these seats to run because they don't technically exist yet.
So, you know, how quickly can these things be put on the miles?
You can't file until November anyhow.
So as soon as the district lines.
Well, that's only two months.
Yeah.
I know.
Two months from now.
It's very, very fast.
It's very fast.
In fact, if you're smart, you would be working on it right now because you know the district lines, they release the map, and everybody's aware of what the map they're going to be voting on, so they know it's going to become law.
So I'm sure there's a lot of people pulling the data.
So this isn't something that's going to catch interested parties entirely unawares.
They have already released a map.
They are in anticipation that this will eventually get voted in and voted on and voted in.
And then so there are some people probably already making plans.
But so again, as soon as let's just say they vote on it, when do you expect a vote on this to actually happen?
Because again, I mean, it's been steined and delayed because of.
Yeah, go ahead.
By the way, I don't know what the FBI can do other than find them.
Texas came down.
I'll read that part in a second.
Illinois.
Yeah.
But here's what's going to happen.
And my hunch, this is just a hunch.
There's nobody told me this.
I'm just projecting what may happen.
Is that they'll run for two weeks to prove that they're fighters.
The session will close down.
And then he'll, the governor, will instantly call another special session.
And that time they're going to capitulate and go ahead and vote because they're going to realize he's just going to keep calling special sessions.
And they can't afford to continually do what they're doing.
So you're saying that they can't hold out.
They can't hold out.
The Democrats can hold out so long as to keep this from happening before.
They're getting $7,000 a year, and they got real jobs.
And a lot of them own companies, insurance companies, lawyers and stuff.
Some have to go to court.
So at some point, they're going to have to come home.
It's not going to be feasible.
You don't see a realistic path to where they could just hold out so long.
It keeps these new districts from being able to get in before the midterms.
You don't see any scenario where they go.
To hold out, outlast.
Yeah, you have to have 50 holdouts.
And to think about it, you got 50 people with businesses and families.
I just don't see them holding out that long.
Well, I guess presumably they could come back and work and just not go to the Capitol, right?
I mean, you know, is that possible?
Then we arrest them.
No, no, no.
Then they get arrested.
They would get arrested in Texas.
Okay.
All right.
So that's why they fled the state because if they were in the story.
Well, so what would happen?
They get arrested and then get handcuffed and back to their seat and back to the Capitol.
Really?
This is Texas, Matt.
No kidding.
They don't take them back.
They don't take you to jail.
They take you to the Capitol and force you to vote.
Now, see, all of those folks, I mean, this is a story we've never covered before, so I'm learning, and I think it's remarkable.
And I think hopefully you do too, Mr. and Mr. Listener, Mr. and Mrs. Listener.
But that is why, okay, so that would make more sense then as to why they fled the state.
They had to get out of Texas.
Yeah, yeah.
Trust me, they would do that too.
Remember, this is the state we execute people every time we execute.
Well, okay, but now a lot of them have fled to Illinois.
This is a blue state, and so I guess, you know, you're talking about extradition and the local law enforcement's up there is not going to be nearly as motivated as the law enforcement in Texas.
So again, you're saying eventually their pocketbooks are going to hurt so bad they're going to cry, uncle.
But they were saying, well, I'll read another holdout.
They're going to bring families, too.
You know?
Well, so what do you think they're trying to accomplish?
I mean, did they think, did they think this out, Steve?
I mean, you look like you've thought out the long game and see how this is going to end.
Did they think that this would work or what are they trying to buy?
You know, that they're not ultimately going to win.
If you read polling.
The number one thing that the reason Democrats have low ratings is not just among Republicans, among Democrats.
The polling said that the Democrats aren't fighting enough.
So even if it's for a show, they have to fight.
I mean, it looks like.
Oh, so this is theater.
This is theater.
They're engaging in theater.
Yeah, I think it's kabuki theater, but purely theater.
Interesting.
Listen, that is why we're talking to Steve Stockman right now.
And we'll be right back with the former congressman.
He's precious.
He's got these insights.
Great takes.
That's an obvious answer.
Makes sense to me.
We'll be right back.
Can you talk about this story for the first hour?

So having this great conversation during the commercial break, we'll have to continue it off the air, my friend, but...
But Steve and I were talking about Hutton Gibson, who he also knew.
It never ceases to amaze me the people that Steve Stockman knows.
I mean, this man is an animal.
And I'll tell you another thing about Steve.
I have never called him and him be at home.
All right.
I have never called him during the week and he'd say, you know, I'd say, hey, you know, Congressman, what are you up to today?
I'm just kind of kicking back in the recliner.
No, he's in D.C. He's in New York.
He's in Atlanta.
He's in Nashville.
He's anywhere.
He is all over the place and he's always up to good work.
But anyway, so he knew Hutton Gibson from the time that Mel's dad lived in California, excuse me, in Texas.
And anyway, the music came on and we had to come back from break before we could finish sharing stories there.
But we will continue that.
And it's just, it really is amazing.
I'll tell you one more thing about Steve before we get back to this topic is one thing I really knew I was cooking with Greece with Congressman Stockman once I found out, you know, a year or two ago what kind of music he liked.
I mean, we have really had a good time with that.
And I will take a little bit of credit.
I will take a modicum of credit, my friend.
I do believe I played a role in getting you and your wife to a Frankie Valley concert this year.
And that is something I'm very proud of.
That is not a modicum of credit.
We would have never gone if it wasn't for you.
Frankly, my wife knew, but I didn't know he was still alive.
When I heard that, I said, no way, he can't still be alive.
And it was a wonderful show, and the people there that attended the show were wonderful people.
It was really a delightful time.
So any of your listeners getting an opportunity to go to the show, I highly recommend it.
And I think there's some great photos of your son with Frankie Valley, too, which is really those photographs.
I don't know if you posted those, but that's really a beautiful shot that you take for your family like that.
Well, thank you, my friend.
And thank you for sharing that story.
And yes, we do have a good time on the air and off the air.
And we like good music.
Well, that's the thing.
I think it is important to know that, you know, for the amount of demonization that has come our way individually and collectively, you get it.
I mean, they've done a lot to you because of your effectiveness.
I think it is important, you know, from time to time, just take a minute and let people know that, hey, you know, forget what the media says.
We're real people.
We have wives.
We have families.
We like good music.
That's right.
I like to have a good time and share stories just like everybody else.
And it's important to humanize the people they're trying to deal with.
I got to tell you a quick story.
I had a guy come up to me and he goes, he goes, I can't believe it.
He says, you're in Congress and I saw you pumping your own gas.
Oh my gosh, that lady told me, she goes, I can't believe it.
I saw your grocery shopping.
And I go, yeah, we eat.
So it's so funny.
Well, again, what is funny is that every time I'm with you, you know, when we were in South Carolina, we were talking on the phone, we just laugh.
But again, you have this ability to really just get in and are a smooth operator when it gets time to go to work.
And so that is really the best of both worlds.
It's personable, but also effective.
And those are the kind of people you want to work with because those are what we were just talking about, real people.
Now, going back, let's spend a couple more minutes on this, in addition to all the fun.
And that is, you know, the FBI.
So this is another story.
Headline reads, Texas governor orders police to find and arrest Democrats who fled over redistricting.
Now, you were saying it would be easier if they were in Texas, but this isn't, in fact, why they fled.
But the subheadline reads, it's unclear if Texas could coordinate with law enforcement in other states.
But I'll just read the first couple of paragraphs.
Here's the problem.
They're not.
The FBI is primarily involved with federal crimes.
And the law they're breaking is a state crime.
So I think it's rather dubious to think that that's possible that they can do that.
Now, I could be wrong, but I don't see how we can get the FBI to arrest a Texas legislator on a crime that's not a federal crime.
I just don't know.
Well, this could be a little reciprocal theater, just putting the threat out there to add to the pressure of coming back.
But, you know, maybe.
But it says here, I'll just read very quickly.
Texas House Republicans voted 85 to 6 to authorize the House Sergeant at Arms and related officers to track down and civilly arrest Democrats who fled the state in protest of GOP redistricting efforts.
Shortly after the vote, Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott said he ordered the Texas Department of Public Safety to find and arrest the Democrats who fled the state, an order which will remain in effect until they are accounted for and brought back to Austin.
Senator John Cornyn, a Texas Republican, of course, said on Thursday, this was just a couple of days ago, that FBI Director Kash Patel has granted his request for the federal government to assist with locating Texas.
Yeah, well, let me add a caveat there.
He's doing that strictly because he's behind in the polls.
He's only conservative when it's election time.
He's a liberal.
He's a rhyme.
Oh, you're talking about coronavirus.
Yes.
He's only doing that to get attention.
And it's like, oh, I'm a conservative.
Well, no, you're not, John.
You're a liberal.
And you always will be.
Hey, listen.
This is throwing down the gauntlet right here live on your radio, folks.
But it does, and I don't disagree with you on corner at all.
But this is, but it does just add to the whole, you know, what, salaciousness of the story, the drama of the story, that, you know, just to have this sort of floated out there in the press.
I don't know.
But anyway, you think they're coming home and coming home soon.
When do you think this is going to get voted on?
When's push coming to shove?
The session ends in two weeks.
So he has to call another special section.
So I'm guessing they're going to be gone for at least another two weeks until the session's over.
And then they get to come back and then they'll watch them and see if they try to flee again.
So that's my hunch.
Well, you don't think there's any way.
Well, you are an insider, but you don't think there's any way that they can actually circumvent this thing.
This will get voted on and these five new seats will be created and this will happen before November.
You think that pretty much?
Yeah, but you understand.
Yeah, people understand they did this before, and they're doing the same thing again.
All right, tell me about that.
I didn't know that.
Yeah, tell me about that.
Yeah, they left, and they made a big, huge fuss, and then they finally came back and voted on it.
You know, they're always doing stuff like that.
So, you know, I'll tell you, you know, interestingly, it's not just the Republicans who have districts that lean in their favor in the state of Texas.
Right there where you live, my friend, right there in Houston.
I mean, tell me how this ever came to be.
I'm sure you've seen it.
The late Sheila Jackson Lee's district looks like a Jackson Pollock painting.
I have no idea how they could possibly carve something that's just so abnormal.
It's all over the place.
It twists, it turns, it loops, it circles.
I've never seen anything like it.
It looks like an ink splash.
Well, here, let me give you background on that.
Yeah, let me give you background what happened.
She, by the way, I got elected first with her in 94.
And then she, by the way, you know, she passed away from pancreas cancer.
So she's not there anymore.
But when she was there, the Republicans drew this awesome map and abolished her district.
She went ballistic.
She threatened everybody.
And the congressman, the Republican congressman, backed off.
This is the difference between Democrats and Republicans.
It was reverse.
The Democrats would go, shut up, go away.
But Republicans graciously drew her district for her.
That's the truth.
That is why she was able to survive.
Yes.
And Ruby Red Trade.
Absolutely.
In Ruby Red, Texas, that's how she was able to survive.
And she was, you know, really, you know, again, we are much nicer than our adversaries.
So even I don't like to speak ill of the deceased.
But I mean, very bad.
You would never get a Democrat to do that.
You'd never get a Democrat to do that.
So just out of the kindness of their hearts, and I do believe that.
I just think, you know, it is something about conservatives, for lack of a better word.
They like to be agreeable.
I mean, which is probably why we lose so often.
Yeah.
Yes, it is.
Well, yeah, look what they did with how they treated Trump.
You know, when he would, you know, Trump says, lock her up.
And he could have easily locked up Hillary Clinton.
Instead, he said, no, that's not proper.
I don't want to run an administration like that.
We're not going to go after Hillary.
What do they do?
They thank him for not going after her by her going after him.
I mean, it's over and over again like that.
We never treat them the way they treat us.
Well, and you've got to do it.
I mean, listen, I mean, you've got to do it.
You have to do it.
You sure did.
And they came down with a heavy hammer on you, but now thanks to Trump, you're back out and doing good work.
But this is, yes, no, I mean, you've got to be in politics, you just have to be ruthless.
It doesn't mean you hate the other person, but they've got to be taken out politically because, I mean, their ideas, what they want is terrible for all of us, including themselves, frankly.
But, well, I mean, you know, eventually it will be.
But so, well, one more break in an hour that's, as always, going by far too quickly.
One more break on this.
We're going to come back, wrap things up, and let the congressman continue with this evening and his travels and his party plans and all the good things that he is always up to.
Stay tuned, everybody.

Well, we don't want this hour to end, but time stands still for no man, even when it's great radio.
And I hope we've made this entertaining.
I always love it when I can have a guy on that we can share stories with.
And, you know, it's more than just dry Q ⁇ A's.
I mean, those interviews are fun too, the more technical interviews, but when you can be more loose.
And I mean, the conversations that we're having in the breaks are even better than what you're hearing.
But listen, I mean, can we tell them this secret about this cow you're going to see next week?
Or is that just, is that off the road?
The secret of the what?
The cow you're going to see.
Talk about that.
No, I've always, it's on my bucket list because there's movies made about it.
There's all the national campaigns go to it.
There's a long history of the Iowa Fair, right?
And I always wanted to do that.
And they always talked about the butter cow.
So I always told Steve King, Congressman Steve King, I said, when am I going to get to see the butter cow?
And he always invited us up, so we're going to take advantage of that.
And we're actually going to go there to have fun, which normally, you know, we're doing something, some work or whatever.
And this time it hopefully is something.
You know, he really does what he says he's going to do.
So last year, we were in a group text message thread, the two Steve's and I, King and Stockman and I.
And I don't remember what we were talking about, but it was around this time last year.
And Steve King said, you know, you need to come up and see this life-size cow that's made out of butter that they put at the Iowa State Fair.
And Steve said, yeah, I want to do that.
And I just thought, you know, he's probably just being polite.
And then now, well, so what happened was, okay, so there's a guy in Michigan who runs a forum.
And they had me up to speak back in 2016.
Great guy.
He has a TV show up there.
And then I was back up there earlier this spring.
I think back in March, I was up in Michigan to speak at this.
And so he knew that I knew Steve King, and he wanted to see if I could get Steve to come and speak at his event in October.
They do it every spring and every fall.
And so I called Steve King yesterday and told him about it.
And just when we were in the course of talking, and he's going to do it, by the way, we got that connection made.
And Steve's going to, King, that is, is going to Michigan in October to speak at this event.
And that's one of the things we like to do.
We like to connect good people with one another.
But when I was talking with King yesterday, he said, oh, by the way, James, Steve Stockman and his wife are coming up to see the butter cow next week.
I said, you son of a gun, you've got to be joking.
I just was talking to Stockman.
He's going to be on the show this weekend.
And he said, yep, they're coming up.
We're going to have a good time.
I wish you could be there.
So anyway, and then he told me this story about how you are, as I was just saying, you're always everywhere.
It just seems like you're everywhere and you're always into whatever anybody else is doing or talking about.
You've got a finger in the pie, you know.
And he said that one time he was in Egypt on a congressional delegation trip and you weren't even supposed to be there and you like showed up at the restaurant.
He said, Stockman is everywhere.
That's true.
I have to tell you, even I was kind of freaked out about that because it was in Shamer Sheikh, which is the kind of a tourist place where a lot of people go, including a lot of Russians and stuff.
And I was down there having a meal at a restaurant and they come in and go, there's a congressional telegraphation here.
I go, no, there's not.
Yes, there is.
So I ended up getting there and showing up.
And sure enough, lo and behold, they were.
And Steve King was there.
And he goes, like, Stockman, you're everywhere.
Because I went to some other functions where I didn't know he was going to be there.
He was there.
So it's kind of cool.
Well, and then, of course, what we did back in May was planned.
And it was just, again, let me just say, because I don't think we've had you on the radio since that particular conference.
And it was just great to have you and Steve there.
That was a conference.
Yeah, I was going to say, very, very well planned.
You did a great job.
And it's a lot of work.
People go to those conferences and they have no idea just how much work they are.
They're a lot of work.
And you did a fantastic job.
And we had so much fun.
And so if your listeners are listening and want to go next time, whenever you plan it, I highly recommend it.
Everybody was friendly.
It was great.
And very informative, too.
That is.
And one over your daughter's heart, which was the best compliment.
Tell that story.
I know where you're going with this.
I like this story.
I understand that she told you that I was the best speaker.
I hope you remember that.
Well, there's no doubt about that.
I mean, anybody who was there.
No, she was we just came up to me and was very, very genuine giving me praise, and I felt embarrassed.
And I thought it was so wonderful.
But I think when I acknowledged it, she felt a little embarrassed afterwards.
I didn't mean to do that.
But she was just genuinely very sweet.
Well, you know, and that's another thing about, again, what we're talking about here.
Families, my wife and all three of my kids and my goddaughter were at that event.
You were there with your wife.
Steve King was there with his wife.
I mean, it was just a wonderful thing.
It was a serious conference.
We talked about serious issues, but there was a lot of fellowship and camaraderie.
And anyway, I digress.
It really was a lot of love.
I mean, that is the motivating thing in all of this.
You wouldn't take these slings and arrows and make these sacrifices and go to prison and all of these things if you didn't love your people, your cause, your country, and sacrifice for it.
So, you know, love is the only thing that can motivate a man to take those risks and to go out there like that.
But anyway, thanks for the compliment about that event.
And anyway, you're going to be back up with Steve King again next week.
I can't make that one, unfortunately, but I do want y'all to send me pictures of that butter cow.
So anyway, okay, so bottom line.
Let's get down to brass tags.
I mean, we've pretty much covered this, I think, fairly comprehensively.
You're saying this is going to have a favorable resolution sooner rather than later.
And then let's talk about the political ramifications of that.
Adding five new Republican seats to Congress that did not previously exist.
No, I don't think it's going to be sooner.
I think it's going to be later when he calls the second, well, I don't know, second or third, but he'll call the next special session immediately following this one.
And that's when it'll be really depressurized.
Right.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I mean, that's still, I guess, you know, sooner in terms of, you know, the next few weeks, month or two, as opposed to a year or two.
Right.
And then, and then, and then what happens is if we keep the house but one or two seats, this will, all effort will be for good cause, and it will help Trump complete his tenure in a way that's not going to be filled with impeachments and stuff, which, by the way, they said they take the house back.
That's exactly what they're going to do.
They said as soon as we take the house back, we're going to start investigating Trump again.
I mean, they really do have TDS so bad, and they're so myopic that they can't see beyond their feet.
You know, it's unbelievable.
Well, so we will continue to keep tabs on this.
Thank you so much for breaking it down expertly and providing context and texture and behind the scenes.
Well, not necessarily behind the scenes, but informed opinions on this matter.
Now, I got to ask you one more thing before we run out of time this hour.
Another good Texan, another former member of Congress is turning 90 years old this month.
And you were the one who brought that to my attention.
I did not know that Ron Paul was turning 90 this month.
Well, Ron and I have known each other for a very long time, and our districts actually, most of the time, touched.
So we, you know, he was in when I was out, and I was in when he was out.
You know, it was like back and forth.
And Ron one time told me, he said, I don't know why we can't both be in Congress at the same time.
I said, I think that would cause the Congress to collapse.
But there's a cute story.
Every year, we can close out if you need to, but I'll try to be quick on this one.
But every year, I mean, every election cycle, which is only 24 months apart, they go in and tear out all the drapes and carpet, which is, I mean, it's like $15,000 worth of carpets, and then they just throw it away.
And so they said, Congressman Steinman, what do you want to do with your office?
And I said, I'm not going to do it.
I said, the carpet's fine.
The drapes are fine.
And they said, you are the, there's only one other congressman that saved the taxpayers' money like that.
And I said, who?
And he goes, Ron Paul.
Isn't that a great story?
Ron Paul and I were the only ones that didn't spend taxpayers' money when we didn't have to.
Now, granted, in the overall budget of a trillion dollars, it's not a lot, but it's the principles that you live by that make law.
And you can tell that both Ron and I are frugal.
And really, it's amazing that so many congressmen do that.
They really shouldn't.
You do what you can when you can and set an example.
Well, God bless you for that and for so many other things.
And, you know, that just brings up another thing, going back one more time to that conference that we had back that we put on back in May that you and King spoke at.
Also, there was Lou Moore, Ron Paul's campaign manager when he ran for president.
So good people all the way around.
And Steve, we'll continue to be doing good work.
Can't wait to hear the latest updates from you, my friend.
And we'll keep tabs on this thing.
And send us a postcard from the Iowa State Fair.
All right.
Well, God bless you and your family and your listeners and keep up the fantastic work.
And we really appreciate you and your love for our nation.
Without you, us people are in the fight would have a rougher time.
And the prayers that you send out to us are greatly appreciated.
I really am grateful.
Well, we love you.
And Patty as well.
Please give her equally warm regards from my wife and kids and, of course, your humble servant himself.
And thank you, my friend.
Safe travels and enjoy the weekend and enjoy the trip to Iowa.
And we will talk again soon.
I definitely want to call you and finish talking about Hutton Gibson and a lot of other things that are in the cooker.
God bless you, Steve.
God bless you, too.
Thank you.
Take care.
You got it.
So there he goes.
Former United States Congressman Steve Stockman.
Really good man.
I just wish everybody had the opportunity to meet and know some of the folks we bring on the program as well as I do.
It is a privilege and an honor and a blessing, and I am thankful for it.
Truly, I am.
Not just to have them on the radio, but anyway, they're just great people.
They really are.
They are the best.
We'll be back with the second hour.
Keith Alexander will be, well, he's here now.
He is joining us late in the studio, an hour late.
I had some other things going on tonight, but he is here now, and we're going to talk about a couple of Confederate monuments that have been restored thanks to Trump.
