Time Text
You're listening to the Liberty News Radio Network, and this is the Political Cesspool.
The Political Cesspool, known across the South and worldwide as the South's foremost populist conservative radio program.
And here to guide you through the murky waters of the Political Cesspool is your host, James Edwards.
Welcome, everyone, to tonight's live broadcast of the Political Cesspool Radio Program.
I'm your host, James Edwards, this Saturday evening, April the 1st, broadcasting to you live from Portland, Oregon.
I never thought I'd say that.
It's an unusual experience for a couple of reasons.
Number one, we're a long way from home.
I'm looking out my window here.
I can see Mount Hood in the distance still snow-capped.
But also unusual because it's 4 o'clock in the afternoon.
Now, I guess if you're a West Coast fan of the Political Cesspool, you're used to us coming on it at 4 o'clock in the afternoon.
It's the same time every week.
It's still 6 o'clock back at our home base in Memphis.
But after 13 years, you become a bit of a creature of habit.
And my habit is 6 o'clock.
Or we've done a lot of remote broadcasts from the East Coast and from other cities in the Central time zone, either live audiences.
If we're doing it at an event or if I'm on the road and have to connect from a hotel room somewhere, 6 o'clock, 7 o'clock, but not 4 in the afternoon.
So this is taking a little bit of getting used to.
I didn't know if it was actually going to work this early, but then again, the time is still the same everywhere else.
But this is where we're at, taking care of some business in the Pacific Northwest, having a great time up here, meeting a lot of great people.
If you'd have told me in 2004 we'd have a week's worth of business in Oregon, well, I probably would have believed you because I always had high hopes for this show.
But anyway, we're here and we're thankful that you're here no matter where you are listening from and no matter what time it is where you are, we're together and that's that's certainly all that matters.
Now, I want to say thank you.
Thank you, ladies and gentlemen.
Thank you to the most supportive and responsive, loyal, dedicated, intelligent, good-looking audience in all of Political Talk Radio.
Thank you again for what you've done for us every quarter for the last 13 years, including this most recent one.
As you know, our first quarter fundraising drive wrapped up just yesterday.
And you did good, people.
You did real good by us.
I just want to read just two very quick letters that actually came in the mail before I went to Memphis.
I swung by the mailbox one last time.
This is from Fort Myers, Florida.
Just short stuff, but I tell you, it's notes like these that make all the difference.
Dear James, Keith, and friends, thanks for another terrific quarter of insight, honesty, and courage, always exceeding expectations, delivering compelling, fearless, and truthful commentary.
Amazing work.
Great team.
Many thanks.
That comes from Gus and Fort Myers, who always contributes during our quarterly fundraising drives.
God bless you, Gus.
Thank you for the note.
Also from Rob and Virginia.
James, hope you and the entire Cesspool family as well.
The show just keeps getting better and better, and the effort and sacrifices y'all make is apparent and much appreciated.
Hoping this helps and that it is just one in millions like it, which you all so richly deserve.
All the best.
That comes from Rob in Virginia.
Well, folks, we had a successful first quarter fundraising drive.
I would like to say I was thinking about this with the first quarter fundraising drive ending just yesterday.
We are going to extend it just one more, well, two or three more hours, I guess you could say, not even one more day.
For those of you who perhaps did not contribute during the first quarter, if you contribute before the end of the show tonight, we're going to extend that incentive gift package to anyone out there listening.
If you wanted to get in, didn't make it before the deadline.
Paul Kersey is a personal friend of mine, so we ordered more copies of his book.
He was willing to autograph them, and I believe in friends helping friends.
We ordered a few more copies of his books than I figured we would move.
So we have a few left, a handful left in stock.
If you didn't donate in the first quarter, you want to donate before the end of the show tonight, we'll still make sure you get that Paul Kersey book.
So long story short, the first quarter fundraising drive extended for just a couple of more hours until the end of tonight's show.
Get it in and be counted among those across the country and around the world who did from places like Sugar Run, Pennsylvania and France and across the Western world, from Oregon to Florida, Maine, Southern California, and all ports of call in between.
People are listening to the political cesspool.
And I marvel.
I wrote this on the website this week.
I marvel at all we've accomplished together throughout the history of our radio program.
Every month is a new chapter.
It brings forth new challenges, fresh attacks, and I hope insightful commentary that has taken our show from a hungry newcomer way back when to what it is today.
We're still hungry.
I'm hungry right now.
But it is such an honor for those of us on the hosting staff and the crew of this show to share such a personal relationship and partnership with our listening audience.
We draw from you the strength to endure everything that comes our way, everything that the enemies throw at us.
And of course, from you, we also draw the support needed to sustain our efforts.
And I hope that you are able to draw from us something equally valuable in return.
And so again, with that being said, our fundraising drive is extended just a couple of more hours to the end of tonight's show.
Then we're going to call it.
And if you would like to get in on that action, please go to thepolitical cesspool.org.
If you don't want the Paul Kersey book, you only want to donate $5, $10.
Hey, this show is built off $5 and $10.
I can tell you that.
And look at all that we've done.
We've got a ton of fight left in us.
And I'm so excited.
This is the point of this whole first segment.
I want to tell you this.
I am so excited to discover what the future holds and where we will go together.
It's not about James Edwards.
It's not about my team.
It is about you and us.
And we finished the month strong like I hoped we would.
I want to thank you.
I want to thank you for all you've done and continue to do to ensure that our work can carry on here.
We have never been afraid to speak our minds.
We will never be afraid to lead.
And it is just, I feel this every day, every week we come on the show.
But really, I feel it every time we have a quarterly fundraising drive.
And every time I think, well, we're just not going to make it this time.
We're going to fall short.
We're going to have to make some cuts to the budget.
It happens.
And y'all always answer the call.
I am the luckiest man in this business, even doing this for no salary as we do it, just to be able to do the work.
That's all I ever wanted to do was to do the work and to make our ancestors proud.
And you give us the opportunity to do that.
And folks, believe me, all of the press, all of the things that we get, that is your accolades.
You are shareholders and stock owners in this radio program.
When you listen to us, when you pray for us, when you contribute, you are responsible.
And these are the returns you get on your investment, that which we're able to deliver.
And maybe I'm going overboard in this.
I don't think I am.
This is coming straight from the heart.
And I couldn't wait to get on the show, even all the way over here in the left coast.
Very beautiful.
I wouldn't want to live out here.
I love it.
It's gorgeous.
I've been to Portland a few times before, but way back in my teenage years, I wouldn't want to live out here as beautiful as it is in terms of the scenery and the majesty of the mountains and the Oregon coast and the fir trees and all of that stuff you have up here.
It's just not home.
It's just not the South.
But I couldn't wait to get on the show tonight here in this first segment of The First Hour, all the way out here in Portland, Oregon, to thank you for a tremendous closing week to our first quarter fundraising drive.
And we're going to have a lot of fun over the course of the next quarter and for the next year and then some.
Hey, but first, we got a busy show tonight.
A busy show tonight.
I'm going to break down exactly what's going to happen during tonight's show.
It's going to be a little bit different show.
We like to keep you off balance and on your toes a little bit, just in terms of the excitement of it all.
And I'll tell you what's coming up tonight, right after this.
We're just getting started.
Stay tuned.

Broadcasting to you, coming to you from Oregon this evening.
Having a great time, though.
Having a great time.
But it's hard to do it much better than the second South Carolina String Band did it in that rousing live performance of our national anthem.
April is Confederate History Month.
And wouldn't you know it, it's April.
It is April.
And our annual on-air celebration and website coverage of Confederate History Month will begin next week.
We're actually going to have a soft opening to Confederate History Month tonight.
And then next week, we're going to get into it full bore.
For the next four weeks on the show, we're going to be featuring special, or rather special interviews, certainly, with some Southern heavyweights and special blog entries, variety of guests who will bring the history to life and better inform you about the bravest and greatest Americans who ever lived.
So you may be asking, well, it is April 1st, so why aren't we starting Confederate History Month right now?
Well, there is a reason for that, and I'll tell you why.
Number one, I looked at the calendar a few days ago when I was beginning to plan the outline for this evening's broadcast and the month to come.
I noticed that there happened to be five Saturdays during the month of April.
So at first I thought, well, that's great.
That's one extra week for Confederate History Month, the way the month was shaping up in 2017.
April has five Saturdays.
That's one extra show than we normally get in any given month.
So that's more Confederate History Month for our audience.
But something came up just a couple of days ago.
I was contacted by Mark Weber, among others, Jared Taylor included, and encouraged to have a spokesman on for a group in South Africa.
He is Simon Rooch, and he is currently on a speaking and media tour in the United States to raise awareness of the plight of white South Africans.
And he is a spokesman for an organization who has a plan.
So I reached out to Simon a couple of days ago.
And as it turned out, he has been in the United States for a few weeks already.
He will be returning to South Africa very soon.
So this was the week that worked best to have him on.
So with us having an extra Saturday in Confederate History Month and us needing to have this important guest on for what I think will be a very profound interview, that's what we decided to do.
So Confederate History Month it is, and we will have a full four weeks of Confederate History Month.
But tonight, rather than starting it and getting that extra weekend, we're going to have our showcase, our feature, be on what's going on in South Africa.
Now, the situation in South Africa is so appalling and so upsetting.
I sometimes feel guilty myself for not showcasing it more here on the political cesspool.
We should highlight the plight of our cousins in South Africa much more.
And it's just such a difficult topic.
I find, I guess, taking the easy way out sometimes and not drawing more attention to it.
But we're going to do better tonight when we have Simon on to talk about his organization, what they're doing, why he's here in the United States, what the situation is currently in South Africa for our people.
And that's coming up tonight.
So you'll want to make plans to listen to the entire show.
I have high hopes for that interview.
I don't know this gentleman well.
We talked a couple of times on the phone.
He seems very pleasant.
And I look forward to learning more about him on the radio show tonight.
That's one thing about the political cesspool.
I learn along with everyone else on this show.
And that's what's coming up tonight and for the month to come.
But first, yes, indeed, it is Confederate History Month.
And I can't just give a passing, fleeting wink at it, especially on April 1st as we're kicking it all off.
One thing we're going to post to the website this week, we're going to have a lot of Southern-themed articles and blog entries from different authors and showcasing different heroes.
This was sent to me by two dear friends in Missouri.
They were the one who brought attention of this plaque to me, and I should know this being a native-born Tennessean.
But this comes from United States Senator Edward Carmack, who served in the Tennessee government after the war.
And this is what he wrote in his pledge to the South.
The South is a land that has known sorrows.
It is a land that has broken the ashen crust and moistened it with tears.
A land scarred and riven by the plowshare of war and billowed with the graves of her dead.
But a land of legend, a land of song, a land of hallowed and heroic memories.
To that land, every drop of my blood, every fiber of my being, every pulsation of my heart is consecrated forever.
I was born in her womb.
I was nurtured at her breast.
And when my last hour shall come, I pray, God, that I will be pillowed upon her bosom and rocked to sleep within her tender care and encircling arms.
Wow.
Hey, folks, if you're a Southerner and that doesn't get to you, you're already dead.
Incredibly touching statement from something only a Southerner could have written.
The South will always be first in my heart.
Not only first, but second and third as well.
And I guess it's interesting that I read those words and celebrate the kickoff of Confederate History Month on the Political Cesspool with Mount Hood at my window.
But I'll be back home to the South next week.
And when we get on the air next Saturday, we're really going to do it big.
But first, Mike in Maryland is on the air.
Mike, take it away.
Oh, hey, James, longtime listener from maybe seven years now.
And I just want to let you know that the censorship is getting real.
And that all white Andy on YouTube, he was suspended.
And that's it.
Let me take it away from there.
Scott Bradley here.
Most Americans are painfully aware that the nation is on the wrong track and in dire straits.
Unfortunately, most political pundits only nibble around the edges when they claim to address the issues.
Even worse, many of the so-called solutions are simply rewarmed servings of what.
...institution is our guide.
listening to liberty news radio with news this hour from liberty news daily i'm dennis daily More information coming in about the U.S. claiming responsibility for Mosul civilian casualties.
Lieutenant General Stephen Townsend, the commander of American forces in Iraq, has accepted partial responsibility.
The air attacks happened on the 17th on a large building in Mosul that killed a score of civilians.
But here is what we know now: and that is the fact that many people are saying that the kind of munitions used by U.S. forces and the Allies could not have knocked down a major building that was known to be used by Islamic fighters.
The supposition now is that the Islamic fighters had a lot of weapons, explosives, and ammunition in the building.
So, yes, the U.S. forces in Iraq may have attacked that important building in Mosul, an Islamic state headquarters, but the stuff inside is what blew it up.
There is continuing information about what the United Kingdom is doing in relationship to its trying to leave the European Union.
Prime Minister Teresa May has now given the formal notice, and that invokes Article 50, to European Union presidential leaders that the UK is pulling out of the EU.
Her formal notice was prefaced, however, by a statement saying that the United Kingdom still wants to be part of Europe while reclaiming its sovereignty.
This remains a very, very technical issue.
Those who are skeptical in the UK fear that putting all the current EU law into British law will make it impossible for Britain to be the same country.

Okay, well, I am back.
An avalanche off of Mount Hood buried me for the last couple of minutes of that segment.
Little to unbeknownst to me.
I found out during the commercial break that a very fine commentary, if I do say so myself, was not heard.
Actually, the last thing I did here was I was introducing a caller, and then I was disconnected from the studio.
So I apologize to the caller, but I did not hear what you had to say, although I'm sure it was fascinating.
I thought the caller had dropped off and one of my channels got mixed up and I was talking and not being heard by the audience and the caller was talking and being heard by the audience, but not by me, if that makes sense.
And then our producer put up the music and we got reconnected in the break.
It is always difficult to do remotes outside of the studio.
And I was having some connectivity issues a little bit before when we were doing, well, not the rehearsal, but just working on the connection in advance of the show.
But hey, I'm back now, and so that's all solved.
But I was just saying, and I want to wrap this up very quickly because I have to move quickly.
The Confederate History Month.
So we're going to continue to celebrate that throughout the month of April.
As I was saying, and as you might not have heard, you know, we didn't make that up.
Confederate History Month is a real thing, and we celebrate it.
It's a month that has been officially designated by several state governments in the South for the purpose of recognizing and honoring the glorious history of the Confederate States of America.
April has traditionally been chosen as Confederate Memorial Day Falls that month in many of these states.
So here at the Political Cess Pool, we always do our part from 2004 through 2017 and every year we're on the air.
We're going to do a Confederate History Month series.
We are the only AM radio show in the world who does it and we do it because, Well, we're going to honor our ancestors, and we're going to do it with some style.
And we have had in the past.
I go back and look at some of the Confederate History Month series we've hosted over the years.
Michael Andrew Grissom, the noted author, Southern by the Grace of God, the Last Rebel Yell, former South Carolina Lieutenant Governor Glenn McConnell, presidents of Beauvoir and the Museum of the Confederacy, so many others.
And we have a genuine pride in our Southern heritage, but also a deep love and respect for those ancestors who fought to preserve the American way of life, the American way of life, from 1861 to 1865.
The South was right.
There's no shame to bear.
In fact, as I say so many times, I consider myself having won the genetic lottery for God to have allowed me to come to this world as a Southern male, to have been born and raised in a former Confederate state.
This is a birthright that I wouldn't trunt for any amount of money.
It's an affirmation of pride that we should all share.
And we've talked about our Confederate ancestry on the political cesspool before, but you say, well, why does it matter now?
Well, I was born 115 years after Lee's surrender.
And I tell you, it is something deeply spiritual that comes over me when I hear Dixie being played.
Getting emotional, even reading Ward Carmack's pledge to the South in the previous segment.
You swell with emotion when you read of the gallant sacrifices those men made in their attempts to stave off federal oppression and tyranny.
And it's perhaps a feeling that only a southerner can truly know, but I will tell you this.
We will make it resonate with everyone from out here on the west coast where I am tonight, throughout the heartland, in Europe, wherever our people are, they have a connection to the Confederacy as well.
And we'll explain that to you.
And we want you to tune in and be part of this.
Every week during the month of April here in the Political Cesspool, we are going to pay tribute to our boys in gray.
And it's going to be on the website.
It's going to be on the show.
We're going to have Dr. Michael Hill on the show next week to kick it off.
This is, as I said, a soft opening to Confederate History Month tonight, but it's going to get much harder over the course of the remainder of this month.
These men were better Americans than you or I will ever know, and their memory will live in the hearts and minds of all decent people.
And one more thing I want to say about the Confederate battle flag, and then I have to move on, but this has come up before.
And we've made mention of it, of course, in previous Confederate History Month series.
But the flag, that symbol representing that opposition to tyranny, it's reviled by those who hate America, those who hate Jesus Christ.
It's the flag of our forefathers, and it was and is foremost and first a Christian flag.
If you look at the Confederate battle flag as we know it, it's actually the naval jack or the battle flag, if you will.
Well, it's the flag you imagine.
It's the one with the red field, which represents the blood of Christ.
The white border represents the protection of God.
The blue X represents the Christian cross of St. Andrew, the first disciple of Christ Jesus and the patron saint of Scotland.
The 13 stars represent the 13 states of secession.
Thus, the meaning of the Confederate battle flag is, through the blood of Christ, with the protection of God, we, the 13 states, are united in our Christian fight for liberty.
Now, this belief and message was also found on the great seal of the Confederate States, displaying the motto, Deo Vindus, which means under God, our vindicator.
The Confederate States of America made repeated proclamations to this effect.
Confederate Senator Thomas Sims, in proposing the official motto of the Confederate States of America, took pains to stress that the CSA had, quote, deviated in the most emphatic manner from the spirit that presided over the construction of the Constitution of the United States, which was silent on the subject of the deity, end quote.
The Confederacy wanted the world to know that it was a Christian nation.
Anyone who stands against the Confederate flag also stands against Christians, also stands against America.
And it makes me wonder exactly who the whores of the Southern Baptist Convention, for instance, Russell Moore, are actually serving.
I wanted to get that little tidbit in.
That is just a teaser of some of the things that will be forthcoming in a much more proper and better planned out way.
That's just off the cuff, off-the-cuff commentary.
But it is coming, and it's not going to start tonight, but it will be front and center for the rest of the month here on the political cesspool.
Now, as far as tonight goes, I'm only with you for the first hour tonight.
I have an event that I have to get to immediately after the first hour, but I've got a surprise for you, folks.
I said there was going to be a treat and some excitement.
We have Winston Smith.
Yes, we went deep into the dugout and found Winston, and we put him up on deck.
Actually, Winston does some of the most, I truly believe this.
And of course, Winston's been a co-host with us since not day one, but since year one anyway.
He has been with us very nearly since the inception of this program.
He is a dear friend and brother.
And of course, because of the loss of his hearing, it's more difficult to have him on the radio.
As regular listeners know, he is only made available to us through the help of a courtroom transcriptionist who listens to the show through the live feed, transcribes to him in real time what's being spoken, and he reads it and responds and is able to do a very fine job.
I mean, there's maybe a split-second delay in him reading it and responding, but for all intents and purposes, you wouldn't know that he's afflicted with the loss of his hearing.
And so he will be with us tonight.
And I specifically chose Winston to conduct this interview with the representative from the Suitlanders, the group in South Africa that we're going to be showcasing tonight.
I think Winston will give it an excellent treatment.
And it's been a while since he's been on the show.
I know Winston hasn't been on the show in calendar year 2017, so that was far too long.
So actually what's going to happen here after this first hour, Winston will be sliding into the captain's chair in the second hour, and we're going to be interested to see what he has on deck for us during that hour.
And then the third hour, the interview that we've been talking about this evening with the representative from the Suedlanders, which is an emergency plan initiative officially founded in 2006 to prepare a Protestant Christian South Africa minority for a coming revolution.
It is a non-aggressive and legal preparation constituted lawfully under the Geneva Convention with particular reference to protocols one and two for the protection of non-combatant civilians, women, children, and the elderly and the non-abled body in the event of civil war.
And I think the anticipation of unrest in majority black South Africa is a very wise thing indeed to prepare for that.
And my heart breaks for our cousins in South Africa with what they have to face.
I just couldn't imagine my family being in a position like that.
But great people, God-fearing people, our people in South Africa face that every day.
And it's the very least I can do to give these people a platform tonight.
And they say, you know, the prospect of anarchy in South Africa is very likely.
I mean, already over there, there have been so many atrocities to the Boers, to the white farmers.
And it, well, I'm afraid it could very well likely get worse.
And so we have a group of people, a God-fearing Christian organization over there that is touring the country, as I mentioned.
Our guest tonight, Simon Roach, has already done interviews with Red Ice, with Jared Taylor, for his podcast.
They have appeared just over the weekend in California at Mark Weber's IHR gathering.
And there have been many other speaking engagements and media engagements.
And we're going to give them a media engagement tonight.
That's coming up after I get off the air here in this first hour.
Winston will take over, and that's forthcoming.
But first, quick update, some exciting news, improvements to the political says.
Well, I'll tell you about those when we come back.
And then I'll turn it over to my friend Winston.

I went to a party and everybody was drinking and so I just grabbed me a beer.
Started drinking.
The first time I drank, you know, it was fun.
Find a game, see if we can do it without getting caught.
But I didn't know that I was going to wine it more.
I wasn't drinking beer.
It took too long to get drunk, and I didn't like the taste very well.
You know, it got to the point where I was drinking so much, I was getting bored with the feeling, I was getting bored with the prize.
That's all that goes through your head.
Is when am I going to get wasted again?
You know, I started in slowly, you know, you push pot, then you just slowly move up the scale.
It's the typical story of a drug user.
Beer's the easiest thing for teenagers to get, and so they take one beer, which is like your first step.
Don't even do it.
It's not worth a ticket from somebody who knows.
A public service message from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Welcome back to Get On The Show.
Call us on James's Dime at 1-866-986-6397.
Well, folks, anybody who knows me personally, and as you can probably detect over years of listening to me on the radio, I am a creature of habit.
I am resistant to change for a very good reason.
If it's not broke, don't fix it.
And if you're only changing it to make it worse, like all of the changes in this country, for instance, let's better off just leave that alone too.
I am a laggard when it comes to technology.
So I would listen, if it was up to me, we'd still be using the old landlines with the roto dial.
But from time to time, change is necessary, particularly if that change can lead to legitimate improvements.
And so with that being said, one of the reasons we have to fundraise, of course, do the quarterly fundraising drops, is to cover the cost of productions.
And that includes our airtime in many cases.
It includes the website.
It includes, well, a whole lot of things.
I could get into it.
It's a long list of bills we have every month that make the show go.
And thankfully, I have a great web team, a great webmaster, and with Sam Bushman, the owner of the network, doing a lot of the production work from the network out in Utah.
I am covered.
All I have to do is just come on the radio and talk.
Well, I do a lot more than that, actually, but technologically speaking, that's all I have to do when it comes to technology.
Now, Sam called me about a month ago and he said, James, I know you're not going to like this, but we've got to make a couple of changes.
And I said, Sam, you know I don't like that.
One of the things I don't like to do is I don't like to change links.
This is just such an easy change.
For everyone else, you're probably going to think I'm being ridiculous.
For me, by the way, so it was up to James, though, would still be back in the 1800s.
You'd be a columnist for a newspaper.
You wouldn't even be on the radio, my friend.
If we didn't allow the change, you wouldn't even be there.
You'd just be a columnist.
You'd be a writer for the freedom of the press, right?
Yeah, that you very well, before radio, what else would I do, Sam?
I guess we both would.
As far as that goes, just trying to make sure we understand, right?
I got Sam on for a reason.
Sam's on just one segment to explain some of this stuff to you.
But basically, I don't like to change the links to anything on our website because I figure, hey, people like me, there may be other people like me who are creatures of habits.
They have certain links bookmarked.
And if all of a sudden one of the links doesn't work, they're going to panic like I would, and I would panic.
And Sam said, hey, no, all the links are going to stay the same except for one.
And it's going to open up a lot of new doors for us.
Basically, what's happening is this.
We have two links that appear on Saturday.
The Listen Live links.
One is to a Windows Media player, one's to a Flash player.
If you're listening to us over the internet, those won't change.
Those links will stay the same that they've been for years.
We have two links to our archives also, one to a podcast page and one to an archive page hosted by Sam's website.
Now, that link will change.
Now, to explain to you why, and these changes will be rolled out over the course of the next couple of weeks, but to explain why and what benefits it will serve to this program, its mission, and to our audience, here's Sam.
All right, so the bottom line, though, is this.
Even radio is kind of an outdated term if you're listening on the internet because it's not radio at all.
Just want to kind of say that.
Well, it's really funny.
It's internet broadcasting audio.
It's not radio at all.
Radio is over the airwaves.
And so anyway, we can digitize it.
But so are we.
But that's the one difference.
We are, but it depends on how people are listening.
The links are not changing on your radio.
Your dial position on your radio will stay the same.
If you're listening to us on AM radio, yes, in your local market, that stays the same.
That's right.
And I bring that up on purpose to understand.
Even the term radio being used when you're listening to archives or the links and the term radio don't even belong together.
If you want to get technical and reject change, then these links don't belong to radio at all because they're internet podcasting slash live listening streaming links.
But anyway, again, we just demonstrate the need for change twice in this episode.
But I bring that up to say that we built the system many years ago to handle podcasts and to do all kinds of cool things for James and me and other talk show hosts that let you have archives and downloads and streams and listen on demand and all kind of things.
But as you know, the internet changes and that forces us to change.
And well, for example, we added a Roku channel and now we are moving to a podcast company that has all kinds of capabilities to let people listen faster, easier, better around the world and deliver our content to many more destinations than we currently are delivering to.
And two of those, just to make it easy for people to understand, one is an Apple TV and the other one is Google Play.
And a lot of people use those on portable devices and my code that we wrote a long time ago just isn't up to date to handle all those changes.
So we're replacing it with a company that does all this for us in a way that'll be, you know what, if 10 more new ways to listen come to the market, we'll be ready for them because these companies keep up on all this and I can't write it all myself forever.
And so what we're doing is we're saying we're going to give you more destinations, faster downloads, more distributable radio, audio, James's show all over the internet.
And we're going to be geared up for more modern day delivery options.
Whatever the next ones are, we're going to be ready and jump on them as immediate as they are available.
So overall, this is not a negative.
It actually costs us more money to do this, by the way.
So your donations are welcome.
But we're going to be able to deliver a better experience for you to more delivery destinations because of this change.
It does require us to update a link or two, though.
And we're doing it very methodical, very patiently in a way that disrupts the least possible.
But I'm telling you, it's great news.
It means the show's growing.
We've got to have bigger servers and more capabilities.
For you internet gurus out there, we're implementing a CDN, which stands for Content Delivery Network, which means it delivers the audio to you wherever you are closer, faster with points all around the world to get it done.
And it's just, it's a phenomenal thing.
It's just that James is panicking because the link's going to change.
If you're bookmarked, as soon as we're ready over the next couple of weeks, you're going to need to go back to the website, update your bookmark, and that's all.
And you're done.
All right, that's it.
So basically, we've probably spent too much time.
Most people outside of me and my really, it's getting almost handicapped.
It's about my obsessive-compulsive disorder.
It's really become debilitating.
But bottom line is, as Sam mentioned, it's an upgrade.
Internet changes.
There's upgrades there, and we have to keep up with the times.
The only change you will ever know is that one of our links to our archive broadcast will change here sometime during the month of April, maybe two weeks from now, sometime around then.
We'll put up a blog entry and announce it.
We'll send it out to our email list.
So if one day you go to the archives of the show and there's nothing there, then you'll need to go back to our website and get the new link.
But all of the other links where you listen live via the internet and one of the archive links currently.
All those will just stay the same.
Yeah, the website stays the same.
Everything stays the same.
But if one day you go to the archive page and something's askew, go get the updated link.
And again, by making these upgrades, we're going to be available on more devices, and we're going to be in more places, more destinations.
Again, you listen to us on the AM radio dials.
Well, obviously that doesn't change.
Nothing changes except one link.
But because of these changes, the main reason I wanted to have Sam on this segment to announce this and to put it in your mind is that it will increase our reach and our brand.
We're going to basically transcribe the show by hand and we're going to deliver it by fax too.
It's going to be awesome.
I'm just kidding.
We're not doing that at all.
I'm just telling you.
If James had his way, though, we'd still be doing faxes, folks.
Oh, if I had my way, it'd be newsletters, yeah.
Okay.
Hey, but it is good news.
A long time ago, by the way, we used to deliver radio shows by CD for those who wanted to listen to a whole week's worth of shows or whatever else.
We dropped that a long time ago, too, by the way.
Well, hey, every now and then I get brought kicking and screaming, and then I'm glad I did.
I mean, there's been so many upgrades we've sustained over the course of our decade and a decade plus three years on the radio.
It's amazing.
And it's all been for my own good.
And we do try to update these things as little as possible, though, by the way.
We don't have fun doing this.
We really hesitate when we do it, but sometimes it's just unavoidable if we want these other things and features.
I really want to add us to Stitcher.
I want to add us to Google Play.
I want to add us to the Apple TV.
I want to add us to there's Amazon.
Anyway, there's other TV players and capabilities we're going to be on.
It's all going to be available, man.
All of it.
We've probably scared the audience now by making such a big deal and dedicating an entire segment to what is a minor change as far as they're concerned, but will be a major change in terms of us reaching more destinations.
The bottom line is, folks, one link will change in the next couple of weeks.
If your link's broken, go back, get the new link.
You're set.
The show's still going to be on every Saturday night.
We're just going to be reaching more people as a result of this.
So just stay tuned for that.
And the way you listen live won't change.
One archive link will.
And do you think we've explained it clearly enough?
Do you think we've spent enough time on it?
If somebody doesn't know the internet, we may not have explained it well enough.
If you know the internet, we've overexplained.
And where the balance is, I don't know.
However, I will say this, though, James.
If somebody's having trouble, email me and I'll take good care of you.
And I'm going to give you my direct email address, libertyroundtable at gmail.com, because you know what?
We do have great customer service.
We are here to help.
We don't want anybody who wants to listen not able to listen.
And we'll do everything we can for you to make sure it's a smooth transition.
We've done that all along and we'll continue to do that.
We don't play games.
We're not elusive or unavailable like other people.
That's just not how we roll.
So we are available and we are here to help.
And we always want to improve our listening options for our fans.
We want to make it more accessible and compatible with devices.
And again, the times thrust these changes upon us sometimes, ladies and gentlemen, as technology advances, so must we keep up with it.
And as soon as Donald Trump funds our network, we'll add video too, James.
You know what?
That's always been a dream of mine.
To sit in the studio and have a live video on the video.
You don't want any change.
There's no such thing as video, my friend.
Well, you're sure.
Hey, do the radio show with a camera.
I can set up a camera, do the radio show.
They can see me or listen.
But then I would have to quit wearing my pajamas to work, and we would have to talk about that.
But it is comfortable to go into the studio.
Radio, not television, big difference.
Hey, even on television, you know they're wearing pajama pants.
It's just the suit and the tie on the top hat.
They're wearing pajama pants.
I promise you.
I've seen them.
We can even do this.
Anyway, we've got studios now where you don't even have to be there, buddy.
That's right.
Yeah, green screen.
Sky's the limit.
Hey, folks, I'm out of here.
I got an event in Portland.
I'm going to meet some great fans of the show here on the West Coast.
Winston Smith's on deck for the rest of the show.
I'll see you in Memphis next week.
But don't go away.
There's more to come right here on the Liberty News Radio Network.
