Time Text
Welcome to the Political Cesspool, known worldwide as the South's foremost populous radio program.
And here to guide you through the murky waters of the Political Cesspool is your host, James Edwards.
Welcome back, one and all, to tonight's second hour of our live installment of the Political Cesspool Radio Program.
It's Saturday, January 2nd, 2010.
And as we've been saying this evening, it's a new year with no limits for us and you here in the Political Cesspool Radio Program.
We're coming to you live tonight from AM 1380, WLRM Radio Studios in Memphis, Tennessee.
That's our flagship station, but not our only affiliate.
We are going out to the AM FM affiliate stations of the Liberty News Radio Network.
Check us out on the internet, thepoliticalcesspool.org.
We appreciate your feedback and thoughts and encourage you and invite you to check out our website, thepoliticalcesspool.org.
Joining me now in the chair that Keith Alexander just vacated, my co-host Winston Smith.
Winston, Happy New Year.
Happy New Year to you, Brother James.
This is really a pleasure, as always.
And I'd like to wish a happy new year to all of our listeners, our entire audience, those who support us, those who encourage us, and even those who try their damnedest to drag us down and fail miserably every time.
You only make us stronger.
You only make us prouder.
But happy new year to all paleoconservatives and constitutional conservatives everywhere.
Thank you all for a great 2009.
God bless you in 2010.
Absolutely, Winston.
I couldn't echo those sentiments any more wholeheartedly.
It has been a great year for us, a great five-plus years, as now we're in our sixth year, but this is going to be another great year, and we're excited about it.
We're getting back to a more normal routine here.
Of course, at the end of each year, as we go into the holidays with Christmas and New Year's, we infuse a little special programming into the mix.
And over the course of the last couple of weeks, we've been paying special attention to the blessed holiday of Christmas.
And then last year, we had a very good show in which we recounted not only the top 10 moments of the Political Cesspool in 2009, but Winston, you brought to the table last week a compilation of the top 10 most hateful quotes of 2009, another little special edition segment there.
And of course, that was originally mentioned on this show.
And then it was posted to our blog.
And from there, it's been reposted on great websites that we encourage our listeners to check out, such as Western Voices World News and the Occidental Quarterly.
Your top 10 most hateful quote list, Winston, has really been making the rounds.
And no one is more surprised than yours, truly, James.
I just kind of put it together off the top of my head with a little bit of research on the internet.
And I just thought it'd be a nice way to fill a few minutes in the broadcast and maybe take up a little space on the blog.
But you would not believe the emails that I've received from our gracious and enthusiastic audience.
I've received numerous emails of people thanking me for bringing these things to remembrance.
Quite a few of them said they're going to print them out and start a notebook, including their own hateful quotes section.
They're going to start research or start keeping their eyes and ears open for these hateful remarks made by people who claim to be the exemplars of tolerance and love.
And they're going to start keeping them in mind.
And they're going to start their own ammunition cachet, if you will.
So I'm very proud of our listeners.
And I want to thank everybody for Their kind words for this thing that was just kind of a kind of a lark.
Well, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, as they say, Winston, and we're happy that people are inspired by the things we do here.
Certainly, I believe us to have a pretty good recipe for success.
We've been, I guess, more successful than anyone ever would have figured.
But that is due to our audience, and I am hopeful that there are people out there who are being encouraged by us who will go on to accomplish much greater things than we've ever been able to do or will ever be able to do, no matter how far we're able to go.
And certainly, we're still on an upward trajectory here in the Cessbool, and things continue to get bigger and better and a little more high-profile and acclaimed each year.
But, you know, I was inspired by people, and hopefully, we're going to be inspiring people that can surpass any amount of good we've been able to do for this movement.
That's the goal.
I mean, that's really one of the things that encourages me to continue to do this each and every week at great personal expense and wear and tear.
I mean, it's a labor of love.
I love doing this program.
I would never not do this program.
I'm going to do it for as long as God gives me life and the strength to do it.
But it is, you know, as they say, we certainly toil in these vineyards here on the radio.
But to think and to hope that there might be people out there who are listening to us tonight or have been influenced by us who are going to go out there and accomplish things more than we've been able to do.
I mean, that's the ticket.
That's what we hope.
We want.
Don't be us, be better than us.
And I'm excited about the way things have gone thus far and the way things hopefully will continue to go.
But as I said, we're getting back to a more routine schedule here as we open up this new year.
We're going to get away from some of those special events that we've been doing the last couple of weeks, and we're going to be getting back on topic.
Tonight, we're not going to be having any guests.
We're going to be revisiting some news stories that we've been blogging about for the last two weeks that we really hadn't had the time to dissect on the program because we've been doing these special presentations.
And of course, after this week, after we catch up on the news, Winston and I are going to be sifting through it for the next couple of hours.
We're going to have some very star-studded programs a little later on in the month of January featuring Kevin McDonald and Jared Taylor, among others.
And so, Winston, I know you share my excitement about that.
Oh, I certainly do, James.
And as we've been sort of alluding to, a lot of my excitement is due just to our audience.
What a great bunch of people.
Like you, James, I would probably continue doing the show, even if we didn't have the great audience that we do have.
But having such a thoughtful and gracious and enthusiastic and committed group of committed audience just makes it that much more easier and that much more gratifying.
I would like to give a little signal for something that's coming up in the near future.
Our own James Edwards is going to be delivering a speech in a time-honored tradition.
I'm not going to tell you what it is, but we're working on the speech now, and it's something that comes up every year.
And, well, we thought it was time for us to take our place in the community of those who deliver this sort of speech.
So stay tuned, folks.
We're going to have a lot of fun with something that's coming up.
And if you like the top 10 list, well, you'll probably love this thing.
But it's going to be delivered by our own inimitable James Edwards.
Well, that's coming up.
Another thing, we said we had some surprises for the folks at the top of the show tonight.
That's one of the things we're planning for a little later on this month, maybe early February.
But we got a lot of stuff coming up this year.
This is going to be the best year ever for us here in the political cesspool.
And that's just one of the things that we're alluding to when we say that.
So we're hopeful.
I tell you, Winston, I don't mean to sound like a broken record tonight, but I really like the refreshing burst of energy you get that comes with the new year.
Almost inevitably so.
I really don't know what's different today than was different three days ago when we were in 2009.
But it's just, I don't know, a sense.
I don't know what comes over you, but hope is a powerful thing.
Never lose that, ladies and gentlemen.
And we've got a lot of stuff.
All right, enough of that.
Enough of that banter.
Although it's good.
It's good to let people know what we're thinking and share moments of jubilation with our listening audience and let them know how we feel above and beyond the political stories that we cover and what we're thinking.
But we do have a lot of stuff to cover.
How much time we got left in this thing?
We only have about two minutes.
I don't think we're going to have 45 seconds, I hear.
Oh, 145.
Well, either way, we're not going to open up another can of worms.
But my goodness, if you've been reading the blog lately at thepolitical cesspool.org, you know, we've been providing commentary on a lot of issues.
And now, that's just with the pen.
Now we're going to do it with spoken word.
And Winston's going to help me get through all that.
Did you know Dick Cheney?
What a sham.
Dick Cheney was named conservative of the year by Human Events Magazine.
That's just one of the things we're going to be talking about.
They have, it looks as though taken, they're not teaching science to kids in school anymore in California, Winston.
And we're going to let people know why that's happening, at least in Berkeley, California.
We'll cover that at the top of the next segment.
Obama is greater than Jesus, so says a Danish newspaper editorial.
We're going to go all over the world and back again.
We're going to go all the way around the world and land back in Memphis over the course of the next hour and a half and change here in the political cesspool radio program.
Remember our new slogan for the new year?
We've got a couple of them.
New Year, No Limits, The Political Cesspool 2010.
Remember this, though, and tell your friends: when you're listening to the voice of the American right, you're listening to the political cesspool.
That means if you're not listening to the political cesspool, you're probably not getting genuinely authentic conservative commentary.
We pretty much have the monopoly on it when it comes to mainstream radio, and we're excited about that.
You know, Rush Limbaugh had a scare in the hospital recently.
He survived, but had he passed away, I was planning on adding another 250 pounds and just taking his place there on his network.
But until that day comes, we're going to continue on with what we've got.
We'll be back right after this, everybody.
Stay tuned.
Don't go away.
There's more Political Cesspool coming your way right after these messages.
Welcome back to get on the Political Cesspool.
Call us on James's Dime, toll-free, at 1-866-986-6397.
And here's the host of the Political Cesspool, James Edwards.
Welcome back to the show, everybody.
Saturday evening, January 2nd, 2010.
I'm your host, James Edwards, joined now by Winston Smith, who is co-hosting with me for the remainder of the program tonight.
And Winston, without further ado, let's go through as much and as many of these news stories as we can with the time that is left this evening.
We entitled this one, Death of a Nation on our blog.
It's a recent blog entry at thepolitical cesspool.org.
As we opined, liberalism is nothing if not a death wish.
In Berkeley, California, this is almost unconscionable, ladies and gentlemen.
You might think this is a spoof or some sort of a sick parody.
But in this case, once again, we find the truth stranger than fiction.
In Berkeley, California, there's a high school there that is talking about eliminating the science labs, the science department, because it's racist.
And once again, I'm not joking.
Here's the story: the official story.
Berkeley High School is considering a controversial proposal to eliminate science labs and the five science teachers who teach them to free up more resources to help struggling students.
The proposal to put the science lab cuts on the table was approved recently by Berkeley High School's governing council, a body of teachers, parents, and students who oversee a plan to change the structure of the high school to address Berkeley's dismal racial achievement gap, where white students are doing far better than the state average, while black and Latino students are doing worse.
Paul Gibson, an alternate parent representative on the school's governing council, said that information presented at the council meeting suggests that the science labs were largely classes for white students, Winston and everyone listening.
He said the decision to consider cutting the labs in order to redirect resources to underperforming students was virtually unanimous.
So here we are constantly hearing about the dismal performance of American students in science compared to foreign countries and that we have to import all of these people from India because there aren't enough people in America qualified in the hard sciences.
And we're eliminating science altogether in some schools such as this one in Berkeley because A, blacks and Mexicans aren't interested in them and don't do well in them or B, so we can spend even more money on black and Mexican students.
This is nothing less than insanity, but it's the logical outcome of the belief in equality.
If we can't make non-white kids as smart as white kids, then we'll just have to deprive the white kids until their scores are as low as the non-whites.
America is running on fumes.
Winston, your thoughts on this absolutely horrendous story.
Horrendous doesn't begin to describe it, James.
If attendees of this school agreed to this stupid plan, then they're not students at all.
They're brainwashed indoctrines.
This is ridiculous.
I can't think of any reasonable person who would say, hey, blacks and Mexicans are not doing too well in a course of study that is absolutely necessary.
So therefore, let's do away with it.
No reasonable person would do that.
So these people are just not reasonable and they should not have anything to do with governing a public school.
Second, if the standard of scholarship and intellectual utility is determined by blacks and Mexicans, and if they think that a course of study is uninteresting to them or unuseful, and if that results in the cancellation of that course of study, then, you know, the California public school system will deserve what they get.
This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard taking place in a public school.
These two groups of people who are traditionally and unquestionably poor performers in higher level sciences and higher level intellectual pursuits, if they are the ones who are determining the curriculum, then, well, that itself is its own diagnosis.
That is its own cliché.
This whole story, James, is going to become a cliché.
It's going to be a cliché for the inmates running the asylum, if you will.
You do not design a public school curriculum.
You don't design any school curriculum based upon the limitations of the poorest performers.
That's not what education is for.
Education is meant to elevate.
It is meant to take you from where you are to a better place.
It is meant to make you think.
It is meant to challenge you.
And what they're saying here is, we don't want to be challenged.
Yes, we're black.
Yes, we're Mexicans.
We don't want to be challenged intellectually.
We don't want to plumb the mysteries of the physical universe.
That's just not our thing.
And it begs the question, James, what is it that they want to explore?
What do they want to study, if not the world in which they live?
Well, Winston, all good points.
And let me just say this.
All of the things that we talk about on this program, or most all of the things we talk about when we're talking about hard stories like this, you can find more research material, links, sources, so on and so forth, at our blog at thepolitical accessible.org.
You can read the original content for yourself.
We like to back up everything we say when we're quoting and naming sources for stories in which we provide commentary on in this program.
But to just cut down to the brass tax, what you've got here is a school, and this will become a trend, I guarantee you.
And I guarantee you already that this is not the only school that has done things like this.
But this school is going to cut out the science department.
In other words, they're not going to teach science in this school anymore because the non-white kids don't score as high as the white kids do in science.
So what does that do?
Does that, by taking out science, by not teaching science anymore, I guarantee they didn't take out black studies or African culture studies or anything like that, but by taking out science, which is, along with English and math, one of the three obviously most important and imperative studies you could have, they take out science.
Does that make the non-white kids smarter because they can't fail at science anymore?
Absolutely not.
The only thing it does, it does two things.
It makes them feel a little bit better about themselves because they don't fail science anymore because it's not there for them to take.
But it certainly makes the white kids a little bit dumber.
I mean, how are they going to be able to compete in college if they've never gone to a science class in high school?
I mean, you see what I'm saying, Winston?
I mean, it can only do bad.
You know, they're sacrificing intelligence for self-esteem.
That's exactly what they're doing, James.
And there's so much that we could say about this.
Like, we could point out that blacks love to claim that Africa is the birthplace of science.
Well, it appears that Africans in America are making science, that they're making America the death of science.
It's amazing how they can make all these grandiose claims about the glories of Africa being the birthplace of civilization and the birthplace of science.
And yet, somehow, they've forgotten how to maintain that civilization.
They've forgotten how to maintain that science.
Second of all, here's a paragraph in the story, James, that says, science teachers were understandably horrified by the proposal.
A teacher named Marty Sicular Mertens said this.
The majority of the science department believes that this major policy decision affecting the entire student body, the faculty and the community, has been made without any notification.
Now, if it is racist to have these science classes at Berkeley High School, and when these science teachers protest it, does that make them racist?
Winston, on that thought, hold that thought.
We've got to take a break.
We'll be back right after this.
Stay tuned, people.
Don't go away.
The political cesspool, guys.
We'll be back right after these messages.
On the show and express your opinion in the Political Says poll,
call us toll-free at 1-866-986-6397.
Winston, before we pick back up on the story we were just visiting, so to speak, I want to say hello to a good friend who's out there listening tonight, Jeff Melton.
We just got a text message from Jeff, who is listening to us tonight here in Memphis on 1380.
And you know, Winston, you and I, and of course, everyone, I mean, we're always quick to point out our, you know, the thanks and the gratitude we have for people like Eddie and Bill Rowland and Keith Alexander, the other current host of the Political Cess Pool.
But an equal amount of gratitude and respect ought to go out to the people who have been with us in the past, moved on for different reasons, people who have left a great impression on the history of this radio program, whose an impression that, you know, without their involvement, this show certainly wouldn't be where it is today.
And men like Jeff Melton, Jess Bonds, and Alston Farley are certainly included in that mix.
So we just wanted to take the time to say hello to Jeff, who has tuned in tonight for all he's done for us in the past.
I agree with you about all that you just said, James.
Jeff Melton is a superb man.
And every time I've been with him and his wife, we've always enjoyed good fellowship, a lot of laughs.
Jeff is kind of a, he has kind of an offbeat sense of humor.
And sometimes you wonder about some of the things he says, but I'm sure he always means them in the best possible way.
But he and his wife are just a wonderful couple to be around.
It's always my pleasure to be with him.
Jess Bonds, what can I say?
Jess was unique among us.
I've never known a man who was so pleasant to be around and so knowledgeable in the areas that he pursued, like Confederate history.
The Confederate history months in which he participated were always satisfying.
They were always stimulating.
And Jess is one of those guys who can make you want to do more research into your own past.
And he smokes a darn good pipe tobacco, too, I might say.
And I'm not going to say the brand, but he suggested it to me, and it's been one of my favorite brands ever since.
Well, you know, all those people, to everyone who has played a role in our development, we want to say thank you and great to know that Jeff is listening tonight here at home.
And of course, you know, if we're ever giving out thanks and gratitude for the people who have made the show possible, it goes without saying those in our listening audience, our supporters and our listeners, couldn't do it without you.
Your support is both needed and appreciated.
And along that note, if you like what you're hearing tonight and you want to support the political cesspool, we need it continually, go to thepolitical cesspool.org and consider making a donation to our program this evening.
But picking up where we left off, we were talking about the school out in Berkeley, and our Liberty News radio engineer Denny says he grew up near that area, Winston, and they refer to it as berserkly, berserkly, California.
I remember when I was stationed in Mary Island, California, I was going to some schooling out there, and I was involved in a martial arts academy in my off hours.
And I went to a tournament in Berkeley, and the school was sponsoring this tournament.
And I was taking a break from my rounds on the mats.
And I went outside just to watch the people walk by, and it was an absolute freak show.
The thing that stuck out to me most was this guy walking around with a bow and arrow.
It wasn't no toy bow and arrow.
It was the real thing.
And he had the bow armed, and he had the string drawn.
He was ready to drill something or someone.
But Berkeley, you know, Berkeley is suffering from a societal flashback from all the drugs and that they consumed in the heady days of the summer of love, I think.
Well, certainly.
This thing about science doesn't really surprise me, but the most and the least you can say about it is that, you know, to Berkeley public schools, science is racist and science teachers are racists.
Well, there you have it.
And that was, of course, the story we provided for you last segment.
The Berkeley High School out there has voted to abandon the teaching of science in those schools because white kids do better than the non-white kids at science.
And so, therefore, they're just going to cut it out.
They're going to cater to self-esteem rather than education and intelligence.
And then you have it.
But that, believe it or not, ladies and gentlemen, as sickening as that story is, and as unbelievable as that story would be if we didn't provide references and links for you on our blog, there's another story that's even more contemptible.
And it would have to come from a place like Detroit.
In Detroit, they believe that if black kids fail, their teachers should go to jail.
Parents in Detroit, and again, we provide you with the link to the original source on our blog if you want to research it for yourself.
Parents in Detroit are calling for their kids, teachers, to be imprisoned for their low test scores.
And frankly, it's hard to argue with their logic on one hand if you believe that there are no differences in intelligence between the races.
Now, we've tried everything we know how to do, no matter how costly or ridiculous, and the black-white achievement gap just keeps on chugging along like the energizer bunny, even when adjusted for income, family status, etc.
Everyone swears up and down that black kids are just as smart as white kids, but the average black kid graduates from high school four grade levels behind the average white kid.
Now, these are facts.
Now, I know it's politically incorrect to mention facts and to cite the Department of Education and to cite test scores when you're providing political commentary, but that's what we do here in the Cessbool, so God help us and forgive us.
But if we're all equal, this can only be the result of some sort of criminal mischief.
Even the so-called conservative Newt Gingrich says that closing the achievement gap is the civil rights issue for the 21st century.
And if that's all true, then why shouldn't these teachers go to jail, Winston, if black students are doing poorly in school, as it's a violation of their civil rights, correct?
Well, here's the story.
Out of Detroit, Michigan, parents want Detroit school teachers and officials jailed over low test scores.
Impassioned parents demanded jail time.
I'm reading directly from the article now, ladies and gentlemen.
Impassioned parents demanded jail time for educators and district officials Saturday following the release of test scores that showed fourth and eighth graders had the worst math scores in the nation.
So in other words, in Detroit, the fourth and eighth graders have the worst math scores out of all of America.
City students took the National Assessment of Educational Progress test this year, and 69% of fourth graders scored below the basic level in math, and 77%, 77% of Detroit eighth graders scored below basic.
These were the lowest scores in the Detroit school system ever in its history.
Now, Charlanda Buckman, CEO.
You know, she just sounds like a genius by her name, Charlanda.
The CEO of the Detroit Parent Network.
But these names they come up with just, they never seem to amaze me.
Yeah, well, that's a Latin name, Winston, as you know.
It's a good Irish name.
Charlanda, who, by the way, is not just a concerned parent.
She is the CEO of the Detroit Parent Network.
She's called for jailing and civil lawsuits against anyone in the city's educational system that is not doing his or her share to help properly educate the black children.
And here's a quote.
Someone needs to go to jail, she said in a tearful address to 500 parents gathered Saturday for the organization's breakfast forum.
Someone needs to pay for this.
Somebody needs to go to jail, and it shouldn't be the kids.
So basically, there's more to the story than that, but I'm not going to read it all.
This is, in my opinion, what we get for 50 years of telling blacks that all of their problems are white people's fault.
And furthermore, though, I got to ask this, she goes on to say, I do have to mention this, Charlanda goes on to say that there are 100,000 adults in the Detroit area who could help these kids.
But are there even really 100,000 adults in Detroit who could actually serve as reading tutors?
Are there even 100,000 people in Detroit who are functionally literate?
But I digress.
The main story here and the story we're talking about is in Detroit, they're not doing too good in Detroit.
And we know what the demographics of Detroit are.
We don't have to mention that.
It's rhetorical.
But their test scores are among the lowest in the nation.
And you have an organization there.
You have an organization there who says that the teachers in these Detroit public schools should be jailed because of the failing test scores that the black kids in those schools are getting.
So Winston, we go from California where they say we're just going to cut out education altogether so no one will have to fail.
And then we go to Detroit where they're just saying, well, we're not going to cut out science, but we are going to send all the teachers to jail unless, you know, by God, the minority kids, you know, start acing stuff.
So that's what we got.
These are American cities and American schools, and this is the kind of insanity that's running rampant.
We've got to take a break.
We're going to let Winston opine right after this.
Don't go away.
The political cesspool, guys.
We'll be back right after these messages.
We'll return.
Jump in the political says pool with James and the gang.
Call us tonight at 1-866-986-6397.
And here's the host of the political cesspool, James Edwards.
The show, everyone.
I want to toss it over to Winston at the top of this segment.
We were obviously in for the better part of this hour, have been covering the topic of education and more specifically, zeroing in on a couple of examples of cultural Marxism in Berkeley, California, where they want to do away with science.
They don't want to teach science in school anymore in Berkeley because non-white kids can't score as well in science as apparently white kids do.
And in Detroit, they want you to simply go to jail.
If you're a teacher and a non-white kid fails a class, you would go to jail if this one organization has its way.
Winston, your thoughts?
Wait, Orwell.
Orwell didn't even envision this one, did he?
What's that?
I said Orwell couldn't even see this far ahead, could he?
I don't think so.
He didn't delve too much into education.
But James, I have to relate a personal experience here.
Now, I'm a woodworker, you know that.
And I refuse to use poor quality stock in my projects because I know it's going to be difficult to work.
It's going to be unpredictable.
And it's just more trouble than it's worth.
So rather than blame the teachers, why don't we blame the material with which they have to work?
And the material with which they have to work is these kids.
And when you look at the environment from which these kids come to school, it's little wonder why Detroit schools are in such bad shape.
No amount of professionalism is going to be able to compensate for poor quality students.
But James, we have a caller on the line, Kate from Atlanta.
And she has a very interesting take on this.
So Kate, are you there?
I am.
Lay it on us, sister.
Hi there.
Great show, as always.
You know, I have to say, after reading the article about them wanting to ban science labs, I have to agree.
Chemistry labs are totally racist.
And the more I was thinking about it, I think maybe they should ban school libraries because they're inordinately used by smart white children.
You know what, Kate?
Anything worth doing is worth doing right.
Am I wrong?
So why don't we just ban schools altogether?
I mean, then they wouldn't even know.
I was thinking that, you know, if they got rid of the school libraries, they could redirect those funds to more basketball courts and last performance classes.
Well, right.
They could, you know, show a little movie inside the library.
You know, they can watch, yeah, they can watch, you know, like you said, they can watch the NBA All-Star Game or the Super Bowl or something.
And then they could just, instead of going to school, they could just come to like a summer camp and they could play basketball all day.
Absolutely.
And everyone would get A's.
There's only one grade, and it's an A.
And then finally, we will have, Kate, you know what?
Winston, we've always said that with this program, we try to bring together people of remarkable intelligence and dedication.
And we finally found someone who can solve the racial achievement gap, the educational gap, the testing gap.
And it's Kate.
We just give everyone an A no matter what.
And then everyone will be equal then.
Everybody will be equal then, right, Winston?
In the James Edwards administration, when he becomes governor of Tennessee, Kate can be the Secretary of Education.
Oh, fabulous.
Fabulous.
I want to be senior secretary of education, though.
You got it.
In all seriousness, I do have to say this is just symptomatic of the goal of government-run education.
John D. Rockefeller, one of the fathers of modern education, is noted for saying, I don't want a nation of thinkers.
I want a nation of workers.
And this just is really symptomatic of trying to bring modern education, public education, down to the lowest common denominator.
So it's really nice.
That was the purpose of the modern education system of the public schools to begin with.
They relied on the Prussian model.
And the Prussian model was set up to provide nice, compliant little workers for the emperor over there.
And that's what our education system is based upon.
And you brought up the libraries being used by white people.
I wonder what the math classes are like over there.
Once you get beyond counting by twos, math over there is probably non-existent except for the white kids.
And so we should shut those down as well for being racist.
Absolutely.
Calculus is especially racist.
Oh, yeah.
They're probably very good at counting by twos and threes over there since that's what basketball scores are figured on.
You know, we're almost having too much fun with such a serious issue.
But I mean, you're right.
Anything that's hard to do is racist, I guess, because it's discriminatory, because some people seem to be able to do it and some people can't.
Not that I'm necessarily a calculus with, but you see the point we're getting at.
And I guess the English language is racist too, if you've ever tried to watch some of these folks articulate.
But Kate, I tell you, thank you so much for your comment tonight and for being so well spoken.
You certainly live up to the standard that we hold our listening audience.
And it's great to hear from you.
Please feel free to call in more often.
Well, thank you so much.
Wait a minute, everybody.
Wait a minute.
Hold on just a moment.
Are they there?
Yeah, we're here.
James, I would like to send Kate a copy of our booklet, an autographed copy.
Can we do that?
I'll pay for it.
I think we have enough in the Cesspool Treasury to send, you know, to pay for a dollar postage.
But if Kate wouldn't mind holding on the line, we'll, after the end of this segment, if you don't mind holding, Kate, we'll go to you off the air and get your address if you don't mind.
Well, thank you.
That's very generous of you.
Thank you so much.
Best of everything to you in the new year.
All right, Denny, thank you, Kate.
Denny, if you don't mind holding on the line, Kate, Denny, just put her on hold and we'll get to her in just a moment.
But that's what we have there, folks, from the realm of education as we kick off the new year.
A lot more to come during the third hour tonight.
I guess, Winston, Kate just was such a remarkable caller, and I hadn't really planned on tonight being an open mic night, although we do have a lot of fun with those.
Why don't we open up the phone lines during the third hour tonight?
So, folks, if you can be half as well-spoken as Kate, why don't you give us a call?
1-866-986-News.
That's the toll-free number here.
We'll go ahead and open up those phone lines a little unexpectedly.
I wasn't planning on it, but you know, our shows are unscripted and unrehearsed, so we just kind of roll with the punches, roll with the tide, give us a call.
We'll open up the phone line, see what we can do, what problems we can solve together.
1-866-986 News.
That is the toll-free number to dial into the Liberty News Radio Network.
And be on the line with me and Winston tonight in the political sess pool.
1-866-986-News.
I don't guess, Winston, there's much more we can say about those two stories concerning education.
So I want to go over quickly.
Well, we still have a little bit of time in this second hour, and then at the top of the third hour, we'll go back to the phones.
Got a quote of the day, and we posted this on the blog as well.
This has nothing to do with what we were talking about.
But it made me laugh, so I'll put it up.
It comes from Lindsey Graham, who is, of course.
Yeah, he's a neocons, neocon.
He's the poster boy of, I guess, what, latent homosexuality in the Republican Party.
Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina says, his state is in a bad way.
I don't know exactly what context he meant this in.
But what he said is, we've got it tough here in South Carolina.
We're on our knees.
12% of our people are unemployed, and 31% of our people are black.
That was the quote.
That's a tough one for him to weasel out of.
Again, I don't know the contents of the context of it, but he did go on to say that South Carolina with 30% African-American citizens and a lot of low-income people in South Carolina is going to cost my state a billion dollars.
That's the same old stuff I object to.
That's not the change we can believe in.
That's sleazy.
And again, I don't really know what he was trying to say there, but not that I ever understand what Lindsey Graham is trying to do.
Well, I guess I do understand.
He really represents everything that's wrong with the Republican Party.
There's a lot wrong with the Republican Party, to be sure.
But anyway, with that, I'd like to suggest something for all of our audience.
It's something that I've been doing for years, and I've enjoyed doing it.
And it's this.
I have established a file on my computer and also a file in my desk drawer.
You know, one of the files of Winston Smith.
You know what I'm saying?
That's right.
But I've titled the files, Worthy Thoughts.
And when I come across something, a thought or a quote that is very good, something that I want to think about more, I put it in there.
I write it down and give it the correct citation.
And I also have a file called Unworthy Thoughts, in which I catalog the blather that comes from people who don't think like us.
But in my worthy thoughts folder, I've recently added a couple, and here they are.
This one is from William Lloyd Garrison, and he said this, With reasonable men, I will reason.
With humane men, I will plead.
But to tyrants, I will give no quarter, nor waste arguments, where they will certainly be lost.
That is a fine attitude for all of us to adopt this new year.
Winston, that's our kind of stuff.
And a great and appropriate quote to cap off tonight's second hour.
Two hours in the books.
Two-thirds of our program have already come and gone this evening.
It's the fastest three hours of my week, to be sure, but there's still another hour to come.
And we are going to open up those phone lines.
If you want to give us a call, we would invite you to do so.
1-866-986 News.
First live installment, first live broadcast of the political cesspool of the decade, January 2nd, Saturday night, 2010.
Here we are.
Once again, it doesn't matter what month, what year, we're always going to be here.
We never, we never burn out.
We never burn out.
Winston will be back right after this with that third hour.
Stay tuned, everybody.
Believe it or not, there's a third hour of tonight's installment of the Political Cesspool coming your way right after these messages.
And God, I know I'm willing to waste trailer.
