Welcome to the Political Cesspool, known across the South and worldwide as the South's foremost populous conservative radio program.
And here to guide you through the murky waters of the Political Cesspool is your host for tonight, James Edwards.
Happy New Year, everybody.
It is a new year with no limits here in the Political Cesspool as we kick 2010 off this Saturday night, January 2nd, as becomes you once again from AM 1380 WLRM Studios in Memphis, Tennessee, and being syndicated around the country to the AM and FM affiliate stations of the Liberty News Radio Network online.
You can find us at thepoliticalcesspool.org and thank you for kicking off your year with us here in the Political Cesspool.
James Edwards joined tonight during the first hour by my co-host Keith Alexander.
Keith, how are you?
I'm doing great.
You know, considering all the relentless march of liberalism that we're encountering, I feel like, you know, every crisis, as Ronald Emmanuel said, is an opportunity.
Well, it is, and certainly those opportunities seem a little more beatable or a little more, anything that we're faced with seems a little more easily defeatable with the new year.
I think that new years offer us a little bit of a respite and give us some sort of a refreshing feeling, and it gives you the opportunity to dream and believe that our ultimate victory is in fact around the corner.
And that's what the new year does for me, Keith, with the dawn of a new year now upon us.
I think we all appreciate the promise and the hope that comes with it.
And for our listeners out there across the country and indeed around the world, we here in Memphis at the Political Cesspool promise you another year of programming filled with pleasant surprises, thrilling accomplishments, and of course, that razor-tongued commentary and the superb guests you've come to expect from our award-winning and, most importantly, battle-tested and time-tested show.
In other words, ladies and gentlemen, we've got some big plans in store for you and our listening audience in 2010, and we're excited to have you back with us for another year.
Of course, 2009 was a banner year for the Cesspool, as we believe, and pretty accurately so, that this show stands alone in the English-speaking world as a mainstream media entity dedicated to the advancement of the European people.
Just remember one thing as you listen to us over the course of this year.
When you're listening to the voice of the American right, you're listening to the political cesspool, and we're not going to let you down.
And Keith, we've got a big month already lighting up here in January.
It's going to be a big year, but we know it's going to be a big month.
Kevin McDonald is on tap to rejoin us for another exclusive live interview, Dr. Kevin McDonald, and later on in the month, Jared Taylor.
Those are just two of the many guests that'll be making appearances as we get things started off the right way.
Pun intended, here in the Cesspool.
Yep, I tell you what, it's also the time of year to look back at the preceding decade, which, of course, is a depressing task, to say the least.
But, you know, it's like the Phoenix.
You know, it has to burn down before it, you know, can rise again.
And I think that basically what is happening under the leftist, the combined, what you call two wings of the vulture, Obama and the Democrats and Bush-style Republicans, is that people are being pushed out of their comfort zone.
We've got so much financial dislocation now either happening or on the verge of happening that possibly people will begin to pay attention to the fact that they're being dispossessed and will possibly be motivated to do something about it.
Well, we hope that our program will serve in the motivation of the people who are listening.
We are certainly here to inspire and inform and educate.
And I don't know about you, Keith, but I feel pretty good about it.
My candle is burning bright this evening.
It's a new year, a new chance for us to go out there and turn the tide on things.
And like I said, I never feel as optimistic as I do about things at the beginning of a new year.
You can right the wrongs that you were doing the year before, and perhaps we as a movement and as a people can correct some of the mistakes we've made.
And I know we're going to be talking about that.
In fact, a little bit later, Keith.
I know you've prepared a little montage of mistakes not to make in the coming decade because let's face it, this isn't just a new year, it's a new decade.
And with that, again, I say comes the hope that we can, to borrow the phrase from the left, we can overcome.
But ladies and gentlemen, we plan to make 2010 our sixth year in broadcasting.
It will be the best yet.
And as you always know, the strength we draw from your support will be critical in ensuring that it will be just that.
So that being said, Keith, I think we have hopefully set the stage for the new year, the political cesspool, a radio program.
I tell you, when you see the word the political celebral, it elicits a certain reaction.
We have certainly carved a reputation thanks to the support we have drawn from our friends out there who tune into us every night.
And this is going to be a very big year for us.
We have some surprises.
We're going to do some things, not differently, but better.
I think perfection is always the ultimate goal.
And even though it may be an unattainable goal, it's still going to be what we strive for, and that's perfection.
And we're always going to be wanting to refine our craft and grow the program.
And Keith, with you, along with Eddie and Bill and Winston, the people who make up our hosting staff and the support and production crew we've got here, all the pieces are in place to make this year everything we dream it to be.
We're breaking down things, and I think we're distilling things to their essence now.
We're beginning to find out why liberalism is bad, why it has changed America, how it has changed America, and who's behind it.
And on that point, let me turn back to a wrap-up of what we were talking about during the last part of last week's show, which was our debunking of the Holocaust hysteria.
In other words, why is the Jewish Holocaust or the attempted Jewish extermination in Europe during World War II given such a preeminence among educators, among the global elite, among the media elite, when in reality it was much less deadly than many other Holocausts that have occurred just in the 20th century.
The Paul Pot annihilation of one-third of the people of Cambodia, that was a more numerous Holocaust.
The Russian Holocaust of white Russians and Ukrainian peasants primarily, 36 million, six times as much.
Then why do we give this prominence to the Holocaust of the Jewish people in Europe?
And, you know, we're not trying to deny it.
It happened.
But, again, why is it such a matter of importance that, for example, the whole term Holocaust has now been co-opted?
And I think we were talking towards the end of the show last week to the effect that the purpose is to let the Jewish population, the Jewish segment, the Jewish subpart of the white population, get a pass, get a free ticket, a reserved seat on the lifeboat when things start to come apart, while the rest of the white population, white Gentiles, goes down to the Titanic.
And the point, the last point that we didn't get to make that I'd like to make is the reason that they want to do that is because it is so much at variance with reality that Jews, particularly American Jews, are a persecuted minority group, a group that is oppressed and persecuted and therefore deserving to be lumped together with blacks, with American Indians, with Hispanics, with you name it,
because the reality is that American Jews are the most prosperous, the most privileged, and the most powerful ethnic group in the history of mankind.
You know, we've even coined joking phrases about like Japs.
JAPS is an acronym for Jewish American Princess.
You know, Jews are so overrepresented in the halls and corridors of power in high-paying jobs, in powerful governmental positions.
Look at people like Paul Wolfowitz and Richard Pearl and Douglas Fife in the Bush administration.
And they're supposed to, that's supposed to be the conservative alternative.
You can see how they're just overflowing people like David Axelrod, Rahm Emmanuel, whatnot in the Democratic cadre.
Then you have the fact that out of the Forbes 400 wealthiest Americans, 137 are Jewish, but Jews make up only 2.2% of the population.
So they're well more than 10 times more likely to be wealthy than their incidents in the population.
So again, basically this whole Holocaust hysteria is here to blind people to the reality of Jewish power and influence.
Well, Keith, you couldn't be more right.
And we're about to come up on our first break of the evening.
And they have certainly, I think it's been proven, cashed in on what may or may not have occurred, what may or may not have been exaggerated in World War II, that whole unpleasantness, if you will.
They have certainly been able to turn that into their favor.
And you think this could be the motivating factor here, that when the rest of us, eventually, if we're not to achieve victory, succumb to political correctness or cultural communism, they will have the proverbial lifeboat by saying they are to an oppressed minority.
And perhaps this is why they're playing the cards as they have and played them so well, I might add.
We're going to take a break.
We're going to pick it up on those thoughts right after this.
Much more to come tonight in the cesspool.
We've got a great show lined up for you.
Don't go away.
The political cesspool, guys.
We'll be back right after these messages.
Jump in the political says pool with James and the game.
Call us tonight at 1-866-986-6397.
And here's the host of the political cesspool, James Edwards.
Welcome back to the show, everyone.
Our first broadcast of the new year.
It's Saturday, January 2nd, 2010.
And I am James Edwards.
Welcome back to the Political Successful, a program that is charging into this new year with its typical swagger and moxie and panache.
Keith Alexander here with me this evening.
I just want to remind you of something that I did mention earlier at the top of the program.
Mark those calendars.
Remarkable guests coming up this month, Jared Taylor and Kevin McDonald among them.
And should you need reminding, if you ever miss one of our live Saturday night broadcasts, our archives, the Political Cesspool Library of Broadcast Archives, is available to you on demand 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
You can catch any show we've done dating back to 2005, nearly the entire series.
I think we were on the air for a couple of months before we got the archives going, but nevertheless, you've got hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of our shows, including the most recent ones, all available to you in the broadcast archives.
And you're definitely going to want to consult those because our shows, I believe, are becoming better than ever.
And those are available to you, of course, at our website, thepoliticalcesspool.org.
Keith, you wanted to finish up a couple of final thoughts on this Holocaust hysteria, as we're calling it, and why perhaps it is being forced upon us as essentially, really, I think, Keith, they would like it to be taught in the history books as the only atrocity of genocide ever committed.
That way it carries a little bit more weight than the atrocities like, say, Sherman's March to the Sea, for instance.
I mean, that's nothing.
Those lives didn't mean as much as these lives do.
But nevertheless, you wanted to finish a few thoughts on that, and then we're going to tell people, very timely, a few things not to do as we head into this brand new decade.
Keith?
Well, let me get back to Holocaust hysteria briefly.
Basically, it's a bait and switch mechanism.
Because, as I said, the reality, in America, at least, is that the Jewish part of the population is the most powerful, the most prosperous, and most privileged among us.
And, of course, that would make them the automatic target of the radical egalitarians who want to equalize and level things out in society.
So, they certainly don't want that.
It'd be like they were Dr. Frankenstein creating Frankenstein's Monster, and like Frankenstein's Monster, these radical egalitarians would turn on them.
So, they've concocted this tale of the Holocaust to take your mind away from the fact that, for example, they don't want you focusing on George Soros or anybody like that, these wealthy Jewish people.
They don't want you focusing on Ben Bernanke, Rahm Emmanuel, Tim Geithner, all of these powerful, big money players in the world.
They don't want you focusing on the fact that Jews have power in the most anomalous and extraordinary type of situations.
For example, pornography.
You know, you'd say, don't tell me they're at the top of that.
Well, look at this.
Who is the most famous male pornographic star and who is the spokesman for that industry?
It's a fellow named Ron Jeremy, who is paunchy, overweight, unattractive, but he's Jewish.
You know, he's in charge.
Look at sports.
Sports is not the type of thing that you normally associate with Jewish achievement.
You know, you don't have a lot of high-achieving Jewish athletes.
But turn on your television set right now and turn to ESPN if you have the cable or the satellite.
And who will you see?
You'll see Chris Berman, Rachel Nichols, Linda Cohn, Steve Levy, Rich Eisen, Doug Gottlieve, and a variety of people who are, surprise, Jewish.
So, you know, the Jewish community doesn't want you to do that.
In fact, you can't even mention that they're Jewish.
If you so much as utter the J-E-W word, the national media will automatically and instinctively label you an anti-Semite.
So basically, this is camouflage.
This is part of a plan, a strategy to make people think automatically and instinctively, like a Pavlovian dog, that whenever they hear the word Jew, they're to think of these poor people being herded into boxcars and taken to Dachau and Auschwitz, and not about all the wealthy and powerful people who are basically controlling our day-to-day life in our midst.
For example, you know, they perpetuate this myth of a WASP, white Anglo-Saxon Protestant elite in America, that hasn't existed since the 1960s.
If you look at the student bodies of these exclusive prep schools in places like New York and the Eastern Seaboard, virtually all those people now are Jewish.
That's the new elite in America, and that's a dirty secret, apparently, that we, the white Gentile population of America, is not supposed to know about.
And see, it's difficult to get a lot of white people to acknowledge their dispossession because they think that white people are still in charge.
And in a way, they're right.
White people are in charge, but just not white Gentiles.
The people in charge now are white Jews, Ashkenazi Jews, as they say, which would be Central and Eastern European Jews.
And in a place like, let's say, Tennessee, where three-tenths of 1% of the population is Jewish, or Arkansas and Mississippi, where one-tenth of 1% of the population is Jewish, you know, it's hard for people to really grasp the concept of Jewish power and influence.
But if you lived in New York, where 10% of the population is Jewish, those people don't seem to have much trouble at all understanding that.
Well, Keith, you're bringing up some very, very good points.
And I want to go back to a couple of the things you mentioned.
First of all, the fact, and it is a fact, that whenever people, observant people, observe that certain people who are doing these things are Jewish, that you are condemned as an anti-Semite for merely mentioning the fact that these people are Jews.
And as rhetorical, the reason that you get condemned in that way is because their brothers and sisters are the ones in control of the mainstream press and newspaper industry.
Now, that being said, there's no doubt, no one can deny that some terrible things happened to the Jews of Europe during World War II.
But it should also be said that not all of the Jewish people are radical egalitarian Zionists who are involved in the scheme.
I mean, there are some good conservative Jewish folks like Dr. Paul Godfrey, who are great friends of this program.
And like former mayor of Memphis Henry Lowe.
That we work with.
Absolutely.
But here's the point, though.
Here's the point.
There is just, and it goes without saying, an unprecedented number, an overwhelming disproportionate number of these left-wing radical egalitarian Zionists that are involved in this.
And it seems as though, getting back to your whole tenet here, Keith, of Holocaust hysteria, that they are using the situation in World War II as a means to absolve them of all of their actions.
They should misrepresent themselves basically to the public as being this poor, beset, put-upon, oppressed group when they're actually the people in charge of most of all the liberal change.
And again, why is Jewish power and influence objectionable?
Well, if you're conservative, it's objectionable because Jews, and this is beyond debate, are the most liberal segment of the white population.
Typically, 80% or more vote for the Democratic candidate for president, which is a pretty good way in today's world of self-identifying yourself as a liberal.
Keith, we've got to go to break.
We're going to pick it up there right after this.
Don't go away.
The Political Cesspool, guys, will be back right after these messages.
On the show and express your opinion in the Political Cesspool, call us toll-free at 1-866-986-6397.
Welcome back to the show, everyone.
In concluding our thoughts on this Holocaust hysteria, we opened up this two-part series last week and discussing why, some 65 years after the conclusion of World War II, you can't open up a magazine or turn on the television without hearing the story of the Holocaust told over and over and over again.
And we were trying to figure out why that is.
And we've covered a couple of those reasons with you over the course of the last two weeks.
And Keith and I were just pretty much pontificating upon the fact that it seems as though, if you want to mention that some of the people who are behind some of the most radical left-wing egalitarian movements in American history happen to be Jewish, and in fact, they all seem to share that in common.
Well, then they use the fact that their ancestors were wrong during the Holocaust as a means to absolve themselves from any responsibility of the national takeover of America.
And also, they'd like to say they're just ultra-sensitive to issues of fair play and fairness and whatnot.
It's like, and basically, you can't mention anything that draws attention to Jewish power and influence without running the risk of being denounced as an anti-Semite.
Like the other day on a CNN program panel, Ron Paul and the neoconservative Ben Stein were on there, and Ron Paul suggested that America's involvement in Middle Eastern wars serve the interests of the state of Israel.
And immediately, Ben Stein leaps up and denounces Ron Paul as a member of the Semite.
See, he's just a plant.
He's there to make sure that the conservative movement never turns its gaze upon what has typically been called the Jewish question.
Well, absolutely, Keith.
And, you know, again, getting back to something you said before, and we really need to wrap this up, I guess.
But, you know, if I were to say, you know, you've got this Jewish power and influence in all of America's major institutions, you note the fact that Rahm Emmanuel is, in fact, Jewish, for instance.
You know, he's just one of many.
You know, he would take that as an insult.
But to me, it's no more insulting to say he's Jewish than if he were to say James Edwards is a white man.
I mean, it's just a matter of fact.
But this is something that they use to defer, again, accountability and so on and so forth.
Well, this is, you know, what the political cesspool is here to do, ladies and gentlemen.
We're here to give you a fresh perspective on things.
We're here to do that.
We're here to shine the light into the dark corners of American life, the type of things that help you to understand what's really going on.
Well, absolutely.
And that's what we try to do.
It's the truth as we see it.
We try to bring facts to your attention that we deem important.
And again, when you look at the left wing, you see that a lot of the advocates of leftism seem to have something in common.
And in this case, ethnicity is one of them.
And that's just something we're here to talk about.
And again, you know, it goes in part of the bigger context of our story the last two weeks, what role the Holocaust can play in giving them room to maneuver.
And that's our thoughts on that.
And of course, we'll revisit that.
It's always a recurring thing.
But Keith, it's a new decade.
We've been talking about this.
New decade offers you a new chance, a clean slate, as each new year does.
What are some things that perhaps paleoconservatives did over the course of the last 10 years that you would like to see them not do in the forthcoming decade?
Well, we basically said, you know, if we, you know, the end of a decade, like the end of a millennium or the end of a year, is an opportunity to look back and take stock of what's happened.
And unless you've been, you know, in a kind of Rip Van Winkle trance over the past 10 years, you have to acknowledge that the years from 2000 to 2010 have been, you know, one of the worst decades in American history for American prosperity and especially the prosperity of the middle class and the advance of leftism.
For example, during the past decade, the national debt has tripled under Presidents Obama and Bush.
They both contributed to it.
Of course, Obama more so than Bush.
But again, basically, the unmooring happened in the Bush administration where the Republicans who had been traditionally considered to be the Dutch uncles who would tell us that we need to stop spending decided to throw all those constraints to the wind.
And then Obama and the left got in with what they considered to be a mandate and just went hog wild and pig crazy with government spending.
Also, the gross national product of the nation has dropped during this past decade by over one-third.
And that's, you know, that would be Great Depression era type numbers.
We haven't had that in any subsequent decade since the 1930s, except for now.
And this is a direct result of the globalization of the economy, the deindustrialization of America, and the fact that the government will not control immigration.
We are no longer a nation that produces and is self-sufficient.
In fact, globalists don't want us to be self-sufficient.
They don't want us to manufacture.
They basically want us to be the great consumer engine.
And of course, basically, that's like playing Monopoly and having to sell off all of your buildings and hotels to finance another trip around the board.
And any kid that's ever played Monopoly knows how that type of strategy ends up.
You end up going broke.
And this is the type of thing that you would expect responsible people in government to put a halt to.
Instead, they're throwing fuel on the fire.
Now, we also have had a financial meltdown of 2008 and 2009, which was precipitated by liberal pressure to make home mortgage loans to blacks, Hispanics, and other minority group members that have terrible credit.
Let's just say it.
And when you make these loans to people with terrible credit, Of course, it's not surprising to learn that they default on their mortgages.
Now, the left tries to put the blame on corporate greed and all these greedy bankers and whatnot.
Well, these greedy bankers are making these loans with a gun pointed at their head, the gun being the Community Reinvestment Act of 1977 and the HOPE 6 law passed under the Clinton administration, HOPE standing for housing opportunities for people everywhere.
Now, we have passed socialized medicine now.
The cap and trade global warming bill is on the verge of being passed.
I just read something on the Drudge Report today saying that the so-called conservative Pope Benedict supports the concept of global warming and says that the wealthy nations of the world need to give to the poor nations.
Now, see, this is this great conservative example.
This just shows you the extent to which liberalism just commands the field.
And middle America and the middle class throughout the world is leaderless.
There's nobody to speak for us and there's no power.
But basically, I think that people in the middle class in America and elsewhere are going to become aware of the fact that they need to understand what's going on and they need to speak out about it because the standard of living is declining and the middle class is shrinking to such an extent that they can no longer ignore it.
You know, it used to be that the income of one adult in the family could support a middle-class existence.
Now it's gotten down to two.
Husband and wife have to work.
And it's getting to the point that nothing can sustain it.
And when that happens, then I think you're going to get the attention of the masses.
And, you know, that's when the counter measures will kick into play.
Well, there's a great foreboding out there already, Keith.
And you see, I think, a lot of simmering right underneath the water there with the Tea Party movement, as we saw it last year.
That was a great outpouring of grassroots populism.
The only thing wrong with it is that those people, those hundreds of thousands, those millions of red state Americans, those true paleoconservative Americans coming out to oppose a lot of the things that this show stands in opposition against.
They were here from coast to coast, all ports of call across the country.
Those Tea Party people were coming out.
The only thing wrong with it is that they didn't get activated in the right way.
They didn't really get put into action, but they are out there.
That's because there's so much phony snake oil conservatism, the Ben Stein type of conservatism.
Well, that's right.
The Jonah Goldberg National Review Weekly Standard style conservatism, again, headed up by you know who that is basically, you know, mudding the water and making people, you know, that they can't really grasp what true conservatism is, and that's the service that we hope our show and other groups like the Council of Conservative Citizens provides.
We show you what authentic conservatism is all about, not the snake oil that's being sold by the National Review or the Weekly Standard.
Still, if you'd have told me 10 years ago that there would be that many people with our issues out there, I would have been surprised.
But they do exist.
They're waiting for action.
They're waiting for a fight.
And there's a fight coming.
And we're going to be back right after this with more.
Don't go away.
The political cesspool, guys.
We'll be back right after these messages.
We got to get out of this place.
Welcome back.
To get on the political cesspool, call us on James's Dime, toll-free, at 1-866-986-6397.
And here's the host of the Political Cesspool, James Edwards.
Welcome back to the show tonight, ladies and gentlemen.
The Political Cesspool.
We're kicking off a new year with no limits.
The Political Cesspool this year in 2010.
This is a very powerful show, a show that commands the attention of some of the most well-known establishment broadcasts and publications.
They all want to talk to us.
We have made a name for ourselves.
No, you have made a name for ourselves here in the Political Cesspool, you and the listening audience.
And we're going to try to keep you fed with the kind of intellectual ammunition that you deserve and that you count on for us to deliver.
And we're trying to do just that tonight.
Keith Alexander and I covering now some mistakes that this country and our people made over the course of the last 10 years, mistakes we don't want to see repeated over the next 10 years.
We were talking about some things that went wrong and a couple of things that went right.
This genuine phenomenon with the Tea Party people.
They need to be engaged.
They need to be involved, but they are out there.
They are out there and they are knowledgeable.
And this is so encouraging.
But there are a lot of things, too, though, that aren't going so well, Keith.
And I know you wanted to finalize this segment with a couple of more examples.
Well, one of the things that has happened over the last decade that I think is just an example of how we're sliding, how the cultural center of gravity is just moving relentlessly to the left, is that the hate crime law, federal hate crime law, has finally been passed after 44, not 43, but 44 attempts.
Now, there's a lesson in there for conservatives to learn.
I guarantee you, conservatives have never in the history of our republic brought the same bill before Congress 44 times in an effort to get it passed.
We don't have that same level of relentlessness of never saying die.
The left will continue to grind on and we need to learn from them.
Now, the other thing I wanted to point out is that, you know, we've had basically the socialization of the American auto industry.
I think Ford's the only one that didn't take the federal money and therefore is the only one that at least is ostensibly free and independent and still in private hands.
But this relentless globalization, which is another left-wing liberal movement, is happening across the industrial spectrum in America.
For example, I just read an article about a whirlpool plant in Evanston, Indiana or Illinois, whichever one it is, going out of business.
They're shutting down so that they won't have to pay American workers American wages.
They're shipping up the whole operation and sending it to the Pacific Rim.
And the workers were demonstrating by putting a whirlpool refrigerator in a casket and rolling it around the plant.
This is happening.
It's happening, and people need to recognize what is happening.
And they need to get over this notion that they keep being fed by groups like the National Review and the Weekly Standard and mainstream conservatives like Sean Hannity, for example, and Bill O'Reilly, that free trade is somehow a great conservative cause.
Free trade is liberalism, economic liberalism, pure and simple.
It led to the destruction of the British Empire, and it's well on the way to destroying America's economic independence and our middle-class lifestyle if we don't challenge it.
You know, free trade, being the only nation in the world that believes in free trade, James, is a little bit like being the only woman in town that believes in free love.
And that's what's happening to us.
And see, there are so many of these Tea Party people that if you ask them what do they feel about free trade, oh, yeah, I believe in free trade.
Well, if you believe in free trade, you believe in your economic dispossession and the decline and fall of American prosperity.
So you better jettison that bit of baggage and start figuring out which side your bread is buttered on, America.
You know, it used to be that the left was vitally concerned about the prosperity and welfare of American workers.
Now, they say to heck with these white workers in America, you know, they're a bunch of pigs.
They're a bunch of oppressors and bad people.
We need to be shipping manufacturing overseas.
We need to be letting immigrants come in here and undercut the prevailing wage rate in America.
Again, you know, this is not your grandfather's Democratic Party or your great-grandfather's Democratic Party.
The Democratic Party is now populated exclusively with cultural Marxists.
And the Republican Party is filled with globalists that don't give two hoots in Hades about what happens to the American middle class and the average American worker.
Doesn't sound like we have a dog in that fight, Keith.
I don't know.
But I'll tell you.
Everybody does have a dog in the fight, and we better start figuring out who the enemy is and who he ain't.
Well, that's exactly right.
And that's the light we tried to shed here in the political cesspool.
You know, it's certainly a duty to be your captains and stewards through this political cesspool each and every week.
But that is the charge we've taken upon ourselves.
And hopefully you'll consider us good leaders.
We try to sift through it all and come out clean on the other side.
That's what this show is here to do, to go through the bowels and the depths of American politics and let you know, as Keith said, who's really who and what's really what.
And that's one of our many goals here in the political cesspool.
Well, ending this first hour, we've covered a lot of ground tonight so far.
Still two hours to come tonight.
And Winston Smith will be joining me for those hours.
And we've got, whoo, we're going to have a rapid fire segment.
It's going to be a lot of fun.
We've got a lot of good news stories to cover with you before the time runs out on this, our first show of the new year, new decade.
But Keith, to end this first hour on a more uplifting note, for the first time in, God, years, years, for the first time in years, I came across a front page article of a major American newspaper that didn't make me vomit.
And I know you were privy to it as well, Keith.
Is an article that covered the opening of a new museum up in Nashville, Tennessee, a couple of hours to the east of us here in Memphis.
And it is the Tennessee Myths and Legends Museum.
Now, as this article was giving us information about this new museum and its exhibits, what did we notice, Keith?
Well, I dropped my spoon in my cereal when I read that because they're actually extolling the virtues of Tennesseans in this Tennessee myth museum or whatnot, or Legends Museum of people like Daniel Boone, Davey Crockett, Jesse James, Andrew Jackson, and James K. Polk.
Not Sojourner Truth, not John Brown the maniac, not William Lloyd Garrison or people like this, or let's say Nat Turner or Denmark Veazey.
And the fact that they're doing this, that they are actually supporting the traditional culture of Tennessee, was so astounding in this day and age that we both, I think, collectively dropped our spoons and our cereal when we read it and rushed to the telephone to call one another just about the same time, didn't we?
Well, see, people, I hope people don't have the mistaken impression that in order to host this radio show, which has become a nationally known entity, that we only come into the studio for three hours a week.
We flip the switch, do the show, and that's it.
No, Keith's right.
We call each other multiple times every day, talking about what we're going to discuss on the forthcoming show, doing research, of course, the work that goes into preparing the blog and keeping the website updated with original content, all that stuff.
It's a week-long effort to produce each show.
But no, Keith's right.
I called Keith when I saw that, and we were clamoring and exclamating with one another.
And it was good.
I mean, you're talking about a brand new state-of-the-art museum that's opening in Nashville on the grounds of the Capitol building, no less, right up there at the Capitol in Nashville.
And it's actually celebrating the true legends of Tennessee, heroes of mine.
Davey Crockett, they just don't come no better than that.
Andrew Jackson, and one of my all-time personal favorites, Jesse James.
Now, Jesse James wasn't a native-born Tennessean, although he did live in Nashville for a time.
Tell them a little bit about the Jesse James exhibit before we run out of time here, Keith.
Oh, it was great.
Jesse James apparently was kind of like an erstwhile modern-day, for the time, Robin Hood.
The last Confederate, as they call it.
That didn't give up.
And what he did was there was a widow in Nashville that was about to lose her farm for, and she had to pay $1,500, which was quite a bit of change back in those days to save it.
So Jesse James gave her the money and told her to get a receipt for it when she paid.
So he got the receipt and knew what bank and what banker had accepted the money from.
So he promptly robbed that bank and got his money back.
Well, Keith, we're running out of time, but that's just some of the things people can see at the new Tennessee Myths and Legends Museum up in Nashville.
And Jesse James, a great Confederate, and he always was doing that thing on behalf of Confederate widows and so on and so forth.
Frank and Jesse, you can't beat them.
I wish there were more Americans like that these days.
But the Tennessee Myths and Legends Museum getting favorable coverage for our people in a major newspaper down here in the Mid-South.
And we're excited about that.
So we want to encourage folks who live around that area to check it out.
That's about wrapping it up for the first hour.
I want to thank my co-host and colleague Keith Alexander for joining me this first hour, as he does every week.
He'll be back next week as we interview Kevin McDonald.
But for the rest of you, don't go anywhere.
Winston Smith's going to be filling in the chair as we roll into hour number two of tonight's three-hour program right after these words from our sponsors.
One hour down and two to go.
Stay tuned.
Hour number two of the political cesspool comes your way right after these messages.
They were jumping views and shouting, Hallelujah!
Well, Harve hit the aisles dancing and screaming.
Some thought he had religion, others thought he had a demon.
And Harve thought he had a weed eater loose in his fruit and balloons.
He fell to his knees to plead and beg, and the squirrel ran out of his britch's leg unobserved to the other side of the room.
