This is Michael Zimmerman and Quentin Carter for Infowars.com.
We're here in Atlanta, Georgia for the 2017 NRA annual show.
There's a lot of fake news surrounding guns and gun rights.
And one of the biggest stories that was being pushed over the past day or two is, oh, the NRA is banning people from having guns.
Well, that's not the full story.
They actually prohibited people from bringing guns into the speech where Donald Trump was speaking in prior years when the president has not spoke, which the last time one spoke was Ronald Reagan, I believe, in the 80s.
You know, 30 years ago.
They being Secret Service.
So NRA had nothing to do with whether or not they could carry guns.
Legally owned firearms are allowed to be carried in the annual convention.
Just the Secret Service didn't allow the carry of weapons or guns inside the hall where the president would be speaking.
And that's consistent with what we see every time the president goes anywhere.
It shouldn't be any different whether we're at the NRA convention or whatever.
The president of the United States' security is up most.
Right, and President Trump really reassured America yesterday that he is behind our gun rights.
He is for our Second Amendment.
And over the next four or eight years, he is going to do everything he can to help preserve our gun rights in this country.
So that was exciting to hear him say that yesterday.
And meanwhile, we have very fake news like CNN behind us just pushing these lies about guns and gun culture.
What lies have you seen about this community?
I mean, it's the constant no change of, you know, we need gun regulations to make people more safe.
Clearly, gun regulations don't fix anything.
Washington, D.C. has some of the strictest gun laws in the world.
Chicago has very stringent gun laws, yet it's the murder capital of the world.
So it's not so much a legal issue as it is a moral issue.
The gun won't do something.
It's the people holding the tools.
That need to help.
So, I don't think passing more legislation or forcing legal gun owners to jump through more hoops, that doesn't affect the crime rates, you know?
Right.
Well, we see in the state of Texas people with their handgun licenses, which I'm against the need for a license in the first place, but the lawful gun owners who have their licenses are something like 14 times less likely to commit crime of any kind.
You know, that's theft, that's assault of any kind.
The people who own guns in this country are not going around committing crimes No, it's not the legal gun owner that you have to worry about as far as a crime being committed.
It's the unlawful gun owner.
It's the person who's lost their right to carry for whatever reason.
It's not the average mom or dad or aunt or uncle who has taken the time to take a concealed carry class, to educate themselves, to file the proper paperwork with the government, which I think is an absolute theft.
I'm a firm believer in constitutional carry.
carry, if you've not lost your right to carry for some reason, then I don't think it's the government's right or the state's right to tell you when and where you can carry.
We have a big one in Texas, the 51% rule.
If my wife wants to go out and have a couple drinks at dinner, or if I have one drink with her, I'm not allowed to carry anymore.
Right.
Well, if I go to a place and I'm not drinking or partaking in whatever's going on, why should I not be involved or allowed the right to defend myself?
Exactly.
Right, and these gun-free zones they've created are basically kill zones, as we've seen time and time again.
When you disarm people, like the movie theaters, or the shooting that happened in Alubis years back, you know, the person, she had to leave her gun out in the car.
And then there's a massacre in this restaurant.
Because when you disarm the people, it gets dangerous.
Well, I mean, it's pretty common sense.
If you wanted to fistfight somebody, would you go to a yoga studio and pick on somebody, or would you go to the local UFC gym?
Exactly.
Right?
People are always looking for soft targets.
I'm not going to go to the local boxing gym on the bad side of town and walk in there and go like, hey, who wants to box?
Because I have a really good chance of not winning.
But I can walk through HEB and find some elderly person.
You have a pretty good chance of winning.
So we're doing the same thing with gun laws and gun rules.
You're making everyone soft.
And you're making it where people who have the legal right...
