Time Text
I'll tell you something that's very strange, my friends.
I'm sitting here in Vancouver, a civilized city.
Roads, cars, electricity, police.
And at the same time as I'm sitting in this civilized city, I have also experienced, for the past few days, being hunted
through the city in a terrible, awful, civilization shredding game of cat and mouse with the extreme leftists who violently, literally violently, object to a free speech gathering where a couple hundred people, myself, Lauren Southern, get together to talk about ideas and philosophy with Q&As and debates, all of that good, civilized, Socratic style of reasoning and gathering.
And to be hunted from venue to venue, like a fox with a mouse, is an appalling situation to be in.
Appalling situation to be in.
For 12 years in the public sphere, I have bent every muscle, every fiber, all the force of my intellect and personality to bear on keeping the conversation alive, on keeping free speech alive, on having us Sit at a table and reason with one another.
But it seems like now, these days, more than seems, is the case, that there are significant sections of the population who don't want to sit and reason, but would rather bay and hunt and threaten and deplatform.
And for those of you who are not going through these kinds of experiences, I really, really want you to understand that out beyond this fragile, flickering firelight of civilization, there are red-eyed wolves circling, sniffing, scratching for weakness, looking to snap at us.
And they are a lot closer than you think.
And trying to get people to understand this is really hard.
It's really frustrating.
People are concerned about whether my heart is motivated by hatred, or bigotry, or... It's astounding!
I'm not making any death threats!
I'm not trying to deplatform people.
I'm not lying.
About people.
The things that are paraded around and said, I'm a fascist, I'm a racist, I characterize the Holocaust as an overreaction.
Absolutely false!
Offensive!
Half my family is German.
The degree to which they suffered under the National Socialists and the Second World War is beyond our collective imaginations.
But people are concerned, well, what if Steph says something mean?
It's an astonishing place to be, philosophically.
And I feel like people are just sleepwalking into the mouths of totalitarianism.
I mean, maybe that's just an emotional reaction because, I mean, we just found out to de-platformed and can't seem to rely on Police protection, because apparently the state is much more keen on collecting taxes than protecting my rights.
But it feels... I mean, I'm going to keep fighting.
I know the alternative to keeping the fight up.
The alternative is surrender.
Disaster.
Collapse.
Gulags.
This is how they act when they have some power.
Can you imagine how they act when they have all power?
Well, we know.
We don't even have to imagine it.
We just look throughout history.
A hundred million people slaughtered under communism.
250 million people killed by their own government in the 20th century, not even including war.
There is a murderousness to this kind of lust for power that we have seen manifested from the French Revolution onwards.
But what are we going to do?
If you can't speak, if you can't gather, if you can't reason together, You know, the terrible news came in yesterday about an evil man shooting up Muslims in New Zealand.
Terrible, awful, horrible stuff.
And for so long, and I remember doing this video in Auckland last summer saying we must keep the conversation going, we must be allowed to have free speech, we must be allowed to criticize and question and engage in the most essential moral exploration that defines us as human beings.
What separates us from the animals is our reason, our language, our ethics, our virtue, our capacity to negotiate these deep ethical issues rather than threaten, deplatform, Or shoot!
When I said we must continue to have free speech or I... Well, we all know what happens when free speech is silenced.
The conflict merely escalates beyond words.
Terrible, terrible stuff is happening.
And I am forced to fund leftist indoctrination Through universities, through other forms of education, mis-education, indoctrination.
And what words am I allowed to speak in public in response?
But here's the thing.
I know it sounds dire.
I know I sound frustrated.
Hell, I am frustrated.
But let me tell you something.
In for a penny.
In for a pound.
As I was told growing up.
I am committed.
I know that I speak for a large number of you who are watching this or listening to this.
I take that responsibility with the kind of gravity and seriousness that's truly hard to imagine.
I know that I speak for you.
I know that I speak for those who are silenced.
I know that you have put your trust and your resources in me, lo these many years.
And I'm telling you, I'm angry.
I'm frustrated.
But I'm not backing down.
I'm going to do the speech.
I'm going to find a way to get even more views for the speech than would have otherwise happened.
And I am going to continue to do the work that I do.
And I'm going to continue to get out of the studio And make my case in the world.
What are the options?
What are our choices?
What do we have?
We back down?
We self-censor?
We silence ourselves?
And we let the baying brutality of the mob take over?
Overshadow reason?
Cease the reigns of the social discourse?
This is not an option!
So...
I so enormously thank you for putting me in this position.
The nature of those who oppose me are clear.
They don't want to negotiate.
They don't want to debate.
They just want to silence and slander and lie.
And I am committed to the conversation.
I'm committed to reason and evidence winning the day.
It is my hope that the unawakened masses of people can look at this kind of dichotomy.
An educated man with a reasonable demeanor who brings facts and evidence and expertise and interviews to bear on the challenging and critical social issues of the day.
This you have on the one side versus the other side.
You have people who have been reportedly making death threats to the elderly.
That's a stark choice.
And if people aren't able to make that kind of choice, if people are concerned about the hatred in my heart that is largely, well no, it's completely imaginary.
I don't have any... I have a love of wisdom.
A love of truth is what motivates me.
I mean, in a way, I don't even hate the people who oppose me to this degree.
They are lost souls who have been programmed by some very nasty people to imagine me as some sort of terrible enemy.
And the saying that has been ringing around in my head is, forgive them, Father, for they know not what they do.
And this thuggery passes in the great maelstrom of human history like a bug past a windshield.
Not into, past a windshield.
What matters is you.
What matters is you.
I can make the case, I can speak the truth, but you need to back up the truth.
Don't back up me.
I'm not that important in the equation.
The truth is what matters.
Wisdom is what matters.
Reason and evidence is what matters.
And you need to Make this case.
You need to ask people in your life, directly, Canadian or not, you need to ask people.
Is it right to use threats of violence to shut down lawful assembly?
Peaceable, free speech.
Is it right?
Is it moral?
Is it good?
Is it acceptable to you?
Say this directly to people.
Get them to wake up.
Get them to take a side.
The middle ground is disappearing.
We need to stand for peace, reason, truth, evidence, free speech, discourse, philosophy, not feral, aggressive, threatening, silencing.
I broke a rule.
I talked to a reporter and I said to the reporter, you think it's going to stop at me?
Come on.
You know it's not going to stop at me.
Everybody knows it's not going to... I'm a test case.
Trial bullet.
Can we get away with it?
One day, that reporter or someone else he or she cares about is going to say something that offends and upsets these people.
And then what?
It is not just a slippery slope.
It's a luge tunnel.
It won't stop at me.
Emboldened by success, they will expand their aggression.
And then, by God, people will wish they had stood up for me.
It is easier to stop a snowflake than an avalanche.
Things in the wrong direction Must be prevented because they can so rarely be cured.
So please, help the cause of truth.
Help the cause of free speech.
Help the cause of philosophy.
Speak about this.
Now, what does this mean?
Well, my YouTube views are down and podcast views are doing well and all that, but YouTube views are down.
Apparently they changed their algorithm in late January.
I don't think it was to favor me.
But I'm still committed!
I'm going to go out there and I'm going to muscle my way Peacefully, involuntarily, and positively through this mess.
Willpower combined with virtue, I believe, will carry the day.
But it's not just me.
I can't do it alone.
I need your help.
If you can subscribe, if you can support, if you can talk about these issues with people.
And if it's not me you love the most in terms of what positive effect can occur in the world, support, please.
Anyone and everyone you can who you believe is speaking the truth in a dangerous world.
I would massively appreciate your support.
I want to do more documentaries.
They're very expensive.
I want to be more out in the world, but it's expensive.
And if I can get your help, I beg.
I beg for your help, for your support.
It's not a lot of money that makes such a difference.
And if we lose, what's that money going to be worth?
And there's a reason why I'm doing what I'm doing, because I recognize that if we lose, what happens to our money?
What happens to our possessions?
What happens to our lives?
So please, I'm begging you, help.
Help me.
freedomainradio.com forward slash donate is is the place to go.
It's easy enough.
If you have a PayPal account or a Visa MasterCard, it will really, really help this.
This is a defeat.
And it is essential to find a way to turn a defeat into a victory.
Otherwise, hope gets eroded.
Like a sandcastle under a tsunami.
And so if you can help me out, please like, subscribe, share, talk about these issues.
Bring this up with people.
Wake them up.
Make them aware.
Please, I'm begging you.
I know so deeply, perhaps too deeply, what happens if we lose.
Your support can certainly help me.
So freedomainradio.com forward slash donate.
I thank you so much for all of your support.
I promise to continue the fight in a positive, peaceful, philosophical manner.
I believe that we will win.
But if we don't, I don't want to live with any regret that I could have done more.
And I don't want you to feel that either.
Freedomandradio.com forward slash donate.
Thank you so much, my friends.
