GASLIGHT CENTRAL

My first podcast since the loss of Charlie Kirk, amidst the chaos of the Kimmel firing and Obama's remarks. It's all so surreal, and yet we still have people protesting the memory of a man who's not here to defend himself. So we have to do it for him, for us and for the nation.    @RogueRecap @LyndaMickSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This is an iHeart Podcast.
This is an iHeart Podcast.
What's up and welcome?
This is the Rogue Recap, and you are here with your host, Linda McLaughlin.
She is pissed off, outraged, and has zero patience with what seems to be an epidemic of entitlement and stupidity.
Here we talk about all the things the other shows just don't or won't touch.
Make sure to like and subscribe to her podcast so you never miss an episode.
Hey, what's up, guys?
It's Linda here with the Rogue Recap.
And great to talk to you again.
We're starting something new next week.
So we had a little bit of hiatus due to last week's news on Charlie Kirk.
For those of you who don't know, I did work with Charlie for a couple of years uh one-on-one with all of his uh messaging and digital, and you know, we've been friends in the conservative space for a really long time, and what happened to him really just threw me for a loop like so many other people.
I don't think I'm alone and feeling that way.
And um, I just really mourn and grieve for his wife, Erica and their children.
And regardless of what you think of him politically, it's just beyond the pale to kill a man the way that he was killed in front of his wife and in front of his small children.
I don't know how you come back from that.
And I'm just praying for them.
I'm praying that they come out of this and they find their way to peace.
And God bless his wife.
She seems to be doing remarkably well.
It's pretty incredible.
But I am astonished at the behavior of the left.
You know, I've been giving it a lot of thought how people are behaving and how they behaved when George Floyd died.
And while the death of George Floyd, just like the death of any human being is tragic, the idea that we were going to turn cities inside out for reasons that were contrived and based on uh preconceived notions as opposed to what actually occurred the day that he died,
and then saying that uh he should have murals, his family should be awarded millions of dollars, uh, and we should, you know, remember his name.
It's insane.
You know, yeah, he was in a terrible altercation with a police officer that resulted from him being involved in a criminal activity.
He wasn't out giving a speech, having open dialogue.
He was robbing a store.
It's a very different thing.
And while that's uncomfortable to hear, I guess for some folks, that is what happened.
So you can remember lots of people, but you don't have a right to remember them in the way that suits your narrative.
The facts really don't give a shit about your feelings.
I don't know if you know this.
They don't.
And this whole idea that we can regale somebody who had a rap sheet longer than a city street and then criticize somebody because their opinions were different than yours.
I mean, nobody screams more incendiary discussing things like people in Congress, like Rashida Talib and Ilhan Omar.
Um, AOC.
Look at uh Governor Pritzker.
You know, he's a funny fella because he likes to pretend like nobody has technology and that we all forget.
This is somebody who literally two days ago said, I never called anybody Nazis, and we have montages of him calling the right Nazis.
So you can try to act like you didn't play a role in what led to what happened to Charlie Kirk, but when you look everywhere all the time, and you're constantly telling America that the right are fascists, that the right are Nazis, that the right want to kill you and they hate you.
It's it's so fake and it's so sad.
And it's also the ultimate gaslight.
And that's what this podcast is about.
It's about gaslighting.
Because the left is incredibly good at it.
They are they're professionals.
They should teach courses in it.
We don't need liberal professors, we just need the left.
They're great at it.
And what they like to do is telegraph what they're doing and then accuse you of it.
It's kind of like when you're in a really bad relationship and your partner's cheating, And they're like, you're cheating on me.
And you're like, no, I'm not.
Oh, I get it.
You're cheating on me, so you're projecting this onto me and acting like something's going on that it isn't, because you're actually the one doing it, and you feel guilty.
And now we see that even with Barack Obama, who came out today and was saying, you know, while we don't agree with Charlie Kirk, you know, uh, and what he said was wrong, you know, we can't, what happened to him was terrible.
I'm like, first of all, who are you to say that anybody's wrong?
This is a man who wrote two books about his life before he did anything.
I mean, honestly, what is your life story?
It's utterly nonsense.
And I read both of his books, Audacity of Hope and Dreams of Our Father, before he was president.
And that's how I knew that he was psychotic, because I read those books before he was elected.
It used to drive me nuts when he was running for president.
People say, I don't, this guy's new, man.
You know, we don't know anything about him.
I'm like, really?
Because he wrote two books about himself.
He's talking all about how he studied under Marxists and he loved socialism, and he felt like white people oppressed him, and you know, white people didn't want him walking down the street.
And I'm like, bro, you were raised by your white grandparents.
What are you talking about?
You have lived a charmed and privileged life.
You went to the best schools in the country, and you're telling me you feel like you were oppressed.
Sell that shit to somebody else.
I am so over the I'm held down, I'm held back.
No, you're not.
You have every opportunity in the world.
You know why?
Because you were born in America.
What you do with your life, the choices you make, what you decide to do, no matter where you're from, are your own.
Now, granted, some people have an easier time than others.
Some people have a harder story than others.
There's no question that all of that is accurate.
What's not accurate is to accuse people who have a really great life of being XYZ person because they don't agree with your ideals.
You know, there's a lot of people on the left that I don't like.
A lot.
There's a lot of people on the left that I wish, I don't know, maybe didn't make so much noise.
Maybe we're quiet.
And I'm sure there's a lot of people on the left that wish I was quiet and I didn't have a voice, and I couldn't say what I wanted.
But lucky for me, and lucky for them, we live here.
We can say whatever we want on X, we can say whatever we want on Instagram, we can have podcast TV shows, radio shows, documentaries, you name it.
But what we can't do, and what we shouldn't do is bash people who literally were shot dead in front of their family, friends, and some of their greatest fans, and make fun of it.
Say things like, I wish that he uh, you know, rolls in his piss and shit for the rest of eternity.
I wish that somebody killed his wife.
I wish that somebody killed his children, or I don't care about any of them because they're related to him.
Or, oh boo-hoo, Charlie Kirk's dead.
Well, who gives a shit because he was a racist prick.
I'm like, we just gave literally a pass for radical Muslims to come into the United States and give speeches on college campuses about Palestine.
And you're telling me that Charlie Kirk is the problem.
These people that are speaking in Dearborn, Michigan, Texas, Minnesota, they're not out there saying, hey, we're Muslim, but we believe that everybody has a right to be free.
They're saying things like, hey, we're Muslim, we're coming into your cities, we're coming into your states, we're gonna rape your women and children, no Christianity, no Jewish, you can't have beer, you can't eat pork, don't play your music, we're gonna do the call to prayer five times a day.
What?
You think that this is normal?
That's acceptable?
It's not.
It's not acceptable.
And the idea that people are allowing this to happen and voting on it and saying it's okay, to me is shocking.
I don't understand at all what is happening with the American people, whether you're left or right.
There should be some semblance of understanding American ideals.
Now you want to be mad about Jimmy Kimmel, you want to say it's the oppression of the left's voice and all this stuff.
Well, good luck with that, because the right has been dealing with cancel culture for about 10 years.
So get in line with your hurt feelings.
Honestly.
So many people have been hurt by the left.
So many.
And not because they were saying incendiary things, not because they were saying things they shouldn't have said, but because they were expressing opinions that were the opposite of what the left was saying.
That's the big difference.
You want to stand there and say that you are the victim.
You want to stand there and say, Rosie O'Donnell, while you cry in Ireland, that your feelings are hurt, that this is the end of America, that we've never seen anything like this.
Problem is that's not true.
That's not what's happening.
There is a massive problem and a complete and utter misunderstanding of the nature of things.
And you don't get a right to suddenly say, oh, we're so sad about this.
You know, Roseanne Barr made a great point today, and she was reminding Barack Obama, literally reminding him, that when she was on air, he and Michelle Obama called over to Iger, Bob Iger, who was running Disney to say, hey, you should get rid of her.
That's no good.
I mean, really think about that for a minute, how messed up that is.
And then you wonder, you honestly wonder how it's possible that they could be this out of touch.
You're running ads all the time, saying that we are dangerous to America.
We are dangerous for young people.
We are infecting people with hatred.
We are infecting people with our inability to be tolerant.
Are you for real?
Does anybody remember when a young man went down to a pro-life march and got screamed at in his face and they cut the tape and they edit it and they only played what they wanted?
Remember CNN did that?
You remember what happened?
Yeah, they lost.
And they paid that young man a lot of money, a whole lot of money.
These are the same people that when you didn't get the COVID vaccine, said that you should die, that you shouldn't be allowed to live your life, that you shouldn't be allowed to do anything with the public.
Same people.
These are the same people that have conservatives' houses swatted.
I mean, look at my friend Joe Peggs.
They had 12 cops show up with AR-15s surrounding his house because some scumbag somewhere called and said that him and his daughter were being held and they were, you know, under attack and the house was being invaded.
They were all in bed.
He's got little ones.
This stuff is wrong.
That's a bridge too far.
That's not freedom of speech.
That's just you being an asshole and then trying to say, no, I'm the victim.
You're not the victim.
You are the problem.
You want to express opinion, that's fine.
But people like Joy Reed and people like Whoopi Goldberg and people like Joy Behar and Ana Navarro and Jimmy Kimmel, all of these people, Stephen Colbert, there's so many of them, Brian Stelter.
These are terrible people who misappropriate comments and quotes, take them out of context, and create hate.
And when they create that hate in cooperation with the government, the previous government, Biden's government, we had Christopher Ray at the head of the FBI.
He was targeting people who opposed the 2020 election, who didn't believe in the COVID scam, who had questions about what was happening, you know, on a broader scale with I don't know, Epstein, Hunter Biden's laptop, all of these things, right?
It's a really big deal.
Did we ever get any answers from this guy?
And not the least of which was the fact that they were attacking Catholics.
I'm like, really?
We're attacking Catholics?
What is going on?
It's such a massive issue to not be able to be honest about what is happening.
It's an Even bigger issue that we have so much misinformation that the average person, the person that is actually just reading the news and trying to figure out in their day-to-day life what's next, can't discern between reality and what's fake.
That's a problem.
And you look at these lists, you look at all of these people, and you say to yourself, oh yeah, I forgot about that.
Oh yeah, I forgot that this person said this and then they tried to cancel them.
That's the problem.
That's what's really going on.
We have to remember we have to stay diligent, and we have to be firm in all of the things that we are doing so that we can be honestly prepared for the next SIA.
I'm gonna give you a brief rundown of just some of the people that have been canceled or attempted to be canceled by the left because the left didn't like what they were saying.
The left is getting canceled right now because they cheered on the assassination of a fellow American who died at the hands of a transgender lunatic.
Or I guess he's a transgender apologist because his boyfriend slash girlfriend, whatever is transgender.
I don't know.
I can't keep up.
Let's just take a quick listen to some of the people.
Roseanne Barr, who I just mentioned you was fired by ABC Disney.
It was canceled in 2018 because of a tweet.
Hundreds of people lost their cast, their crew, they all lost their jobs.
Gina Carano, who's an actress, was fired from the Mandalorian in 2021.
Why?
Because of social media posts.
They didn't fit the left.
They dropped her, and so did her agency.
They dropped her too.
Megan Kelly was fired in it by NBC in 2018.
Why?
Because of comments about Halloween costumes.
Dave Chappelle, next Netflix employees, when he had his uh comedic, you know, uh special, staged a walkout because he was talking about tran, they said he was transphobic.
So they tried to cancel him.
Joe Rogan, they wanted Spotify to drop him because he was having open and honest conversations about COVID.
Tucker Carlson taken off in 2023 because liberal activists said they got him out of his job because of advertiser pressure and because he lost so many advertisers.
Parler got canceled because Apple, Google, and Amazon wiped their entire platform off the internet.
J.K. Rowling got blacklisted from events.
She was attacked by activists because of the fact that she spoke out and gave her own opinion.
There are so many people like this.
And I gotta give a hat tip here to Swampist.
That list is from Swampist.
Great job.
Really appreciate you getting that out there.
There's just so many instances, and I know it's hard to keep track.
But if we don't, we're never gonna win the war because each one of these battles has to be fought and corrected at that moment.
It's like when your child does something wrong, you have to correct them in the moment because they're already gone to doing the next dumb thing.
So if you don't correct it when it happens, they're just gonna keep doing it.
It's the same thing with the left.
Pretend like you're dealing with a five-year-old, you're gonna do great.
