I think this is time now for everybody, our country, to come together.
We want to come together, whether it's Republican or Democrat.
Because of your support, in spite of all of that that they threw at us, everyone against us, we've got our ticket punched out of Iowa.
I can safely say tonight, Iowa made this Republican primary a two-person race.
The clock is ticking.
T-minus 291 days left till the presidential election.
From border to border.
From sea to shining sea.
Sean Hennedy is on.
All right, now we're to Sean Hannity show.
Toll-free.
Our number remains the same.
It's 800-941.
Sean, if you want to be a part of the program.
Now, Republicans have rightly been fighting, especially conservatives have been fighting on the issue, two big issues that they want in exchange for any monetary deal, budget deal that would be long-term.
And they're issues that they should go to the bat for, very frankly.
And one is securing our borders.
The other is, you know, Joe's reckless budget, which is going to bankrupt the country.
$34 plus trillion dollars in debt and only going higher.
You know, another $2 trillion added last year.
It's insane.
It's unsustainable.
It will have massive implications on the economy down the road.
And of course, with their anti-energy philosophy, I mean, that would, to me, be the best way to get out of these problems.
But it's now a big problem.
Republicans have down to a two-vote majority.
That's it in the House.
You know, with Speaker McCarthy, this other guy leaving.
Anyway, the Speaker, Johnson, talking about the dangers of leaving the border open.
And anyway, and said that Biden told them we're ready to do big things at the border.
Really?
I thought they said the border was closed and the border was secure because they said it again and again and again and they lied again and again and again.
Listen.
We're not playing politics at this.
We're demanding real transformative policy change because that's what the American people need and deserve and that they're demanding as well.
House Republicans are standing on that line.
I will tell the president that today.
I've been saying it consistently since the moment I was handed the scabble and that's never changed.
I don't care what you call it.
I'm telling you that these elements are important in order to make the change that is necessary.
No one should be playing politics with this.
There's too much at stake.
Fentanyl is the leading cause of death for Americans age 18 to 49.
Trafficking is a scourge.
The cartels on the border down there are making billions of dollars trafficking humans into the U.S. 60 to 70% of the people that cross at the Eagle Pass, which is the main funnel right now, are single adult males between the ages of 18 and 40.
These are not huddled masses of families seeking refuge and asylum.
These are people who are coming here probably with ill design.
I've told the president, I look right across the table from in the cabinet official's room, and I said, Mr. President, you have the authority right now in this catastrophe.
It's your actions that created it.
In fact, Mr. President, I told him in the meeting today, we've documented 64 instances of you taking executive actions and your agencies that created this catastrophe.
Mr. President, it's on you to unwind it.
We don't need new laws.
You can do it right now.
I've cited him, read him the legal authority on the phone on Thursday last week that he could take.
And you know what he said in the meeting, Laura?
He said, we're ready to do big things on the border.
Well, hallelujah, Mr. President.
President Biden, do your job.
Fix the catastrophe that you've created.
It's an unspeakable humanitarian catastrophe.
Well, that's what they ought to do.
Congressman Andy Ogles of Tennessee is with us, and Congressman Zach Nunn of Iowa are with us.
By the way, love the people of Iowa, Congressman, but I will tell you, minus 20 below is a bit much for me.
That was a little rough.
Hey, Sean, it's Zach here.
Yeah, my car battery died.
I shoveled myself out of the driveway repeatedly.
But you know what?
Iowans and yourself, hardy people.
We showed up in mass to make our voice heard and kick this presidential race off.
So the caucus turned out to be a great success for the candidates, and Iowans were privileged to do their duty.
Listen, I got to give them a lot of credit.
They braved the cold.
They went out.
They voted.
I mean, it was a record victory for any Republican in an Iowa caucus in history.
It was a pretty historic night.
It was fun to be a part of.
The people are wonderful.
Your diners are phenomenal.
And, you know, they're the people that not only feed the country, but they feed the world.
And they work hard.
And they're salt of the earth.
And I admire the people of Iowa.
Congressman Ogles, what's going on with the budget now?
Are we going to have another pushback, another delay because we can't get a deal on the border?
Well, you know, I would expect that this deal will ultimately end up passing with more Democrat votes than Republicans.
But, you know, there was a huge opportunity here with the border.
You know, you have Republicans and Democrats and the White House wanting to do something on the budget.
So you have this leverage point.
But, you know, unfortunately, I think that window is closed.
There's going to be a CR.
And we've just kicked the can down the road.
Meanwhile, like you said, Sentinel is the leading cause of death between 18 and 49-year-olds.
Trafficking is a scourge, and we're not doing anything about it.
And all the Biden administration want is hold out their hand and say, give us more money.
But you and I both know they only want that money to process more people more quickly, illegally, into this country.
But, Speaker Johnson, Congressman Nunn, was dead on accurate, and that is that these policies were created by Joe Biden.
He was handed secure borders.
As a matter of fact, he was handed the most secure border we had had in modern times.
And now we have hundreds of people that we know have come from Iran, hundreds from Syria.
You know, what the hell are we doing here?
Because you can't convince me with 10 million unvetted Joe Biden illegal immigrants that we don't now have terrorist cells plotting, planning, scheming, and preparing for a massive attack on our country from within.
Both in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other parts of the world, we do not want what is happening over there coming into our country.
The southern border is an area where I applaud Speaker Johnson and the House Republicans for making HR2 a bedrock of securing our border.
And this was in February of last year.
But let's not kill ourselves.
There's a lot broken in Washington, D.C., on both the Republican and the Democrat side.
You talk about the budget, the very first bill I put on the floor was a balanced budget amendment because in my home state of Iowa, we balance our budget.
We pay our bills the same way farmers, families, and small business owners do.
Now, the reality is that when you do that, not only do you drive down your deficit, but you can actually do the things that I think the American people expect us to do, be responsible with taxpayer dollars, cut taxes, and put money back in Americans' pockets because they'll invest it in their community in a more appropriate way than anything the federal government's going to do.
And we're seeing this played out time and time again on the southern border with bad policies that, as you know, we had the most secure border in the country.
But I talked to a sheriff when I was down there last.
He said it's a tsunami of death crashing on the United States from the southern border.
And it is.
It's killing Americans wholesale at an epic level.
It's being led by the cartel and it's being funded by folks out of China.
What about the proposal, Andy Ogles of Tennessee?
What about the proposal now of Speaker Johnson of doing yet another CR that would extend the government funding until March 1st to March 8th?
Are we going to get any spending cuts as a result of that?
I think largely what you're seeing here is a deal that was driven by the Senate, not by House Republicans.
So I don't expect any substantive cuts.
I expect top line numbers to be higher than they should be.
And so we've really got to, you know, I think you look at Iowa, you know, my buddy Zach Nunn, you know, he can speak to it firsthand, but the border crisis, the fentanyl crisis is a driving issue for this election.
This is a winning message for us.
And so we've got to get past this spending debacle and really do something substantive on the border.
And, you know, you've got, you know, the House Freedom Caucus has been one of the tips of the spear, if you will, on, you know, trumpeting this issue, fighting for this issue.
And that's all true.
But the problem is you've got other Republicans that are willing to go along with this and not willing to take a stand on, I would argue, 80-20 minimum, 90-10 issues.
If everybody just held the line there, they'd have to make changes.
There's power there.
I agree with you 100%.
That's why we continue to message on this point.
And you've got some of our Iraq and Afghanistan veterans like Lattrell and Zach Nunn who are helping us message on this point of we've got to secure this border.
And, of course, we've got to get spending under control.
Those are the two big issues that every American knows.
And like you said, Sean, we should hold the line, whether you're in a blue district or a deep red district, hold the line.
I mean, our Republic is at stake.
We've seen, I think, what's happened in Iowa with the caucus is going to translate into New Hampshire and South Carolina.
And we've got to unite as Republicans, and we've got to get this done if we want to win the, you know, hold the House, win the Senate, and ultimately get the White House.
All right, quick break.
We'll have more on the battle of the budget and the battle over the borders and the battle over everything that's important in Washington with a very slim majority in the House.
It's very difficult.
Andy Ogles of Tennessee, Congressman Zach Nunn of Iowa, more with them on the other side than your calls coming up.
All right, we continue with Congressman Andy Ogles of Tennessee, Congressman Zach Nunn of Iowa.
Republicans trying to fight hard on two issues, the budget and the border.
And it's not going as well as I would like.
You know, Zach Nunn, let me ask you this, because I'm hearing when you close the doors and you're in conference that it's the Freedom Caucus that's trying to get everybody to hold the line that are coming under fire and getting excoriated in conference for daring to want to fight this fight.
And I'm trying to understand why and how many Republicans are unwilling to go to the mat on these two big issues, the budget and borders.
Right.
So, Sean, let me talk to you just briefly to give your listeners an encapsulation of what Andy put forward so well.
I'm in the most competitively drawn district in the country.
I mean, I won this back from a Democrat by less than 1%.
So when I go to the mat, it's not because I'm worried about my next election.
It's because I'm worried about the future of my state and the country going forward.
We have fought hard, and I've worked with this, with Andy, to make sure that we cut any future budget going forward.
And we've led that in the House repeatedly here.
We have made sure that border security has been part of this conversation in every single issue that we've got going forward.
I've, you know, as an Air Force guy, I've flown recon operations down here.
As a targeting commander, we have taken strikes under the Trump administration to eliminate cartel operations that threaten the United States.
All of that's gone.
Let's not kid ourselves.
All that's gone.
Now, we have moved some good things forward in the House that both the House Freedom Caucus, what I would call the Main Street guys, and then just your hardcore conservatives who want to do right by their home district all agreed on.
That was passing the appropriations the way the Constitution mandates us in Congress to do our jobs.
Now, 90% of those have been...
By the way, it's March, and you guys still have not finished all the appropriations bills.
Is that correct?
Brother, I hear you.
I hear you.
Absolutely.
Now, you know, we're not going to throw other members of the caucus under the bus here, but I will say there was a pathway to get this done.
And unfortunately, we didn't get some of the appropriations bills to the floor.
And I think all of us here are very frustrated that that happened.
But I will say, this hadn't happened in a decade.
So 90% there isn't across the finish line, but a hell of a lot further than it was in the last 10 years.
Now, we have already gotten into a new fiscal year in China.
You're absolutely right.
This needs to be getting done now.
State legislators do it.
Families do it.
the federal government should be doing it.
And that's why I am really.
Well, for most people that have no idea what we're talking about, we're talking about annual appropriations bills or better known as a budget, uh, for every department.
There are 12 separate appropriations bills that need to be passed.
They should be passed, voted on, and approved before the beginning of any fiscal year.
And the government's fiscal year begins October 1.
Maybe we'll have it done now by March.
We'll see.
Andy, do you see any hope here?
Do you think Republicans can unite on this issue?
You sit in these caucus meetings, or are there too many encalcitrant, you know, rogue Republicans that, for whatever reason, don't want to fight the good fight?
Yeah, unfortunately, Sean, I don't bring good news.
I don't expect us to fix the appropriations process this year.
I mean, obviously, we're going to fight for that.
We're going to try to get it done.
We had a huge missed opportunity under Speaker McCarthy to get the 12 appropriations done, but it's passed as passed.
But now we've got to move forward and get spending under control where we can.
And, you know, and let's be honest, there's not enough places in the budget where we can fix 35, you know, soon to be $36 trillion in debt.
We've got to have policies, growth policies like energy independence that will allow us to grow our way out of this.
And it's not going to happen overnight.
And so this is why this 24 election is paramount.
We've got to get back to fiscal sanity.
We've got to get back to fiscal policy, both domestic and foreign, that puts America first.
Not America alone, but America first.
And this Biden administration has weaponized the government against its people with a two-tier justice system.
But also, we're the laughingstock of the world when you have China moving against Taiwan.
You've got Russia and Ukraine and all of these rogue actors around the world who are literally chipping away at our republic, and they're hoping and praying that we fall.
But I'm going to fight for our country.
I'm going to fight for our republic.
Zach's going to fight for it.
And we're going to go down.
If we go down, we'll go swinging.
But we've got to win this election, and we've got to stay on message.
The budget and the border.
We appreciate your time.
Andy Ogles, thank you at Tennessee.
Congressman Zach Nunn from our friends in Iowa.
We had a great time in Iowa.
I love the people in your state.
Great people.

By the way, Ted Cruz had a pretty funny line.
He goes, Joe Biden actually missed Obama.
Obama followed the law on immigration.
Listen to this.
You know, one of the amazing things, and I will say Joe Biden did something I never thought would be possible.
He made me miss Barack Obama.
Look, Barack Obama, I disagreed with on a ton of issues.
I think he was a bad president.
But you know what?
On immigration, Obama, by and large, followed the law.
Barack Obama deported millions of people.
In fact, the left got mad at him.
Remember, they used to call Obama the deporter-in-chief?
Well, he kind of did.
He wasn't exactly a hawk when it came to securing our borders.
The real change came when Trump became president.
So Donald Trump had some, I don't know, some red marks on his fingers.
Now, James Carvel is convinced he has the clap.
He has syphilis.
That's what it is.
James Carvel is going a little Joe Biden in his brain as he gets older.
Then Liberal Joe, you know, they're speculating that he has blood on his hands because he was banging his hands on the court table like a toddler.
They really love Donald Trump over at MSDNC.
They tell lies.
They spread conspiracy theories.
They never, ever, ever correct a story.
They never apologize.
The Russia-Russia-Russia lie went on and on and on.
Everything about Ukraine, everything about Trump.
It's 24-7.
We hate Trump.
We hate Trump.
No, I hate Trump more than you do.
No, I hate Trump more than you do.
I mean, when Donald Trump one day is off the political scene, I think they're all going to lose their minds.
They'll probably still be talking about Trump 30 years from now.
Anyway, here's Liberal Joe.
Do we have any answer on what's on Donald Trump's like Donald Trump has his hands are bleeding?
Looks like he has a sore.
Magic marker?
Is it magic marker?
Because it looks like he has a sore on his index finger there.
I don't know.
Maybe it's magic marker.
I don't know.
It looks like a, I mean, that's blood, isn't it?
I don't want to speculate.
I don't know.
But was there anything that happened inside the courtroom yesterday, Lisa?
There was.
You know, there was a point in time during the day where Trump, very frustrated with Judge Kaplan, banged his hands down on the table.
I doubt that the blisters or marks that we're seeing there come from that, but could they be exacerbated by that?
Perhaps.
Yeah, like a toddler having a tantrum, perhaps, and causing bleeding to his hand.
You can't even make this up.
All right, let's get to our busy phones.
Many of you have been very, very patient.
Interesting callers here.
We have Ann in Ohio, who disagrees with Dennis Miller's comments on Donald Trump that he made on my show on Tuesday night.
I think it was Tuesday night.
And Kim in Kansas that agrees with Dennis Miller.
Anyway, Ann in Ohio, say hi to Kim in Kansas.
Kim, say hi to Ann.
Hi, Kim.
Hello.
Hello, Ann.
Hi.
All right.
So you disagree.
Dennis Miller's comments were that he would like to see if Trump is serious.
He thinks he has the right policies.
He agrees that he's been under fire, unfairly so.
He agrees that his family has been attacked viciously, unlike any other politician.
But he wants to see a little bit more of the humanity, maybe humility in Donald Trump, and thinks if he does that, and even at times admit that he's wrong and say he's sorry, that that would go a long way in bringing people that are just anti-Trump no matter what, and show a different side of him.
That was the argument he was making.
You disagree with the argument.
Tell me why.
Well, I disagree because I feel like the love people have for Trump, I think, comes from just being straightforward and he says it how it is.
I will be honest, when I first saw him in the first debate in 2016, I did not like him.
I did not like him at all.
I grew to love him.
I love his policies.
I think that we don't need another apologizer like we had in Obama.
And I think people are, I just wish people were smart enough to like him for his policies and not for his personal life or how he projects, you know, what his thoughts.
He's not the perfect speaker.
But I think he does show some humility a lot of times.
His speech after the Iowa caucus, I thought, was a very nice speech.
I think he did a good job for Trump.
So I just disagreed wholeheartedly.
And he got a lot of praise for being as gracious as he was, which in a lot of ways is kind of unpredictable for him, if we're going to be honest here.
I always use the analogy that he throws one pitch a fastball and he throws it high and tight and hard.
Kim in Kansas, you agree with Dennis Miller.
Tell me why.
I agree with his speech that he had in Iowa was fabulous.
I think that he needs to focus on just his politics and his procedures.
I think he needs to reiterate the things that he's done for our country because the media will not let us know whatever he's done for our country.
And so I feel like he should be the one that just completely tells us that, how he's going to move forward.
And just the only thing that I was saying is don't use harsh tones or don't downgrade people because that is what turns people away from Trump being for people voting for Trump.
They just don't, the younger generations grew up differently than he did.
And education is very much drilling the children into how there shouldn't be any bullies and everybody should be nice to each other, which our universities definitely are not following nowadays.
But anyway, so I agreed with Dennis Miller and the fact that I just feel like he needs to be a little bit maybe toned down so he's not so harsh when he's speaking and maybe don't and definitely do not downgrade other people.
Where he thanked Ron and Nikki on his speech the other day.
Oh my gosh, that like turned so many people on.
I would use the word you as being very gracious, magnanimous even.
Let me give you both of my insight because I've known him almost 30 years, about at least 28 years for sure.
And I know a side of him that I think a lot of people don't know.
In real life, Donald Trump is hilarious.
He's one of the funniest people you'll ever hang out with.
He's incredibly generous.
He offers things constantly to people.
Oh, you got to go play my course.
Here, I'll set it up for you.
Here, you need to go do this.
I'll set it up for you.
But also generous with charities and things like that as well.
He did forego his entire salary as president, but nobody ever would give him credit for that.
There is a side of him that I think he doesn't often show.
Now, I think there's legitimate reasons why.
I mean, from the minute he came down the escalator with Melania for the 2016 election, I mean, the media has been all over him.
And remember then they were scared to death.
Oh, my gosh, you may have control of the nuclear codes, et cetera, et cetera.
The issue here is, and I think Dennis is right in his observation, is there's no candidate on either side that can win a base-only election.
We might be looking at a presidential election year this year that can be decided by a couple of hundred thousand people in six states.
It could come down to that.
I don't know if it will.
I don't even know if Joe's going to be on the ticket, to be honest with you.
But I can tell you this.
I would never want Donald Trump to be anybody other than who he is.
He's a true original.
He really is.
I've never met anybody like this guy.
I've never met a guy that can take so much incoming and compartmentalize it without rolling into a ball and hiding under the covers all day.
The guy is a tremendous strength about him that most people simply don't have.
And I think people are drawn to that strength.
And I think America right now needs to show strength, especially abroad and frankly, with our policies here at home.
But that side of him, for example, when he did his last town hall with me, he's going to be on with me tonight on Hannity, and I'm going to ask him about this.
His pitch, his tone, his cadence, his personality, the guy that I know came out for the entire hour.
I mean, I thought he did a phenomenal job.
I thought the same thing when he did at a town hall with Brett and Martha.
When he was on this radio show Monday, I thought, you know, that's the Donald Trump that I know.
You know, now he also knows me very well.
He knows that I let candidates talk.
So he knows he's not walking into an environment where it's going to be, you know, where he has to debate the moderator.
No, I want to hear from him.
He's the one running for president.
It's not me.
So I think what Dennis is touching on has some truth in it, but it's not Donald Trump being a phony.
It's Donald Trump just showing another side of his personality that when he's in combative mode, people are not seeing.
It is the number one question I get asked about Donald Trump.
And the thing I get told by people about Donald Trump.
Can you please tell him maybe to just tone it down a little bit, talk a little less, you know, truth social just a little less.
Do you know how many times I've been asked that?
Linda, you've been with us.
Do we not get asked that question over and over again constantly?
It's all the time.
Now, with that said, Ann, does that make sense To have him expand just a little bit and show a little bit more of the personality, the person that I'm describing to you, you know, assuming that I'm telling you the truth, which I am.
You know what?
I absolutely agree with you.
I, like I said, I was not a Trump fan at all at first.
I grew to like him because of his policies.
I do agree with what everything that you just said.
I don't like when he says Ron's a sanctimonious.
That stuff turns me off a little.
But I know I don't have another choice.
He is my choice, and he's my only choice.
It bothers me.
I don't think, you know, Ted Cruz endorsed him, and that's when Dennis said he should apologize to Ted.
Ted's not thinking about that.
Ted's thinking about the country, and Ted knows what's right for the country.
That's why he endorsed him.
No, by the way, Dennis was right in that criticism.
He didn't need to do that.
And I would say there's been too many of those moments, in my humble opinion, and they don't help him.
The bottom line is: if you really want to fix the country, you've got to win.
And I think this other side of him that many people don't see or they don't ever want to see, like, for example, if I had a choice, if I was his campaign manager, and nobody ever asked me, I would have him do town halls over his rallies as spectacular as his rallies are.
I mean, it is a phenomenon.
We've never seen a politician draw tens of thousands of people consistently all over the country, enthusiastically.
With Brett, and Martha was awesome.
I will ask him on behalf of both Ann in Ohio and Kim in Kansas, Anne-Marie in Ohio and Kim and Kansas.
I will ask him on your behalf tonight, okay?
Thank you.
We appreciate it.
I appreciate you taking my phone call, Sean.
Thank you.
I'm a big fan.
I watch you, listen to you during the day and watch you every night.
Thank you.
I look better with makeup, trust me.
You know, remember, Rush had a ditto cam.
They've tried to get me to have a Hannah cam, and I'm like, no, I don't want one.
I like the mystery of radio.
Kim, I want to thank you too.
Thank you for calling.
Happy New Year to both of you.
Thank you very much.
My father, rest his soul, be so envious that I get to talk to you.
So thank you very, very much.
You know, the people in Kansas, Ohio, Iowa, just salt of the earth.
You want to know what makes this country great?
The Ann-Marie's in Ohio, the Kim's in Kansas, the people in Iowa.
It's not people in Washington.
Thomas Paine famously said, you know, government in its best state is but a necessary evil, in its worst state, an intolerable one.
All right, quick break right back to our phones.
Toll-free.
Our number is 800-941-Sean, if you want to be a part of the program as we continue.
All right, back to our busy phones: 800-941-Sean, if you want to be a part of the program.
Let's say hi to Daniel in Georgia.
Hey, Daniel, how are you?
What's going on?
Hey, Sean, welcome to the South.
I'm glad you're down here in the much warmer weather.
I know you're in Florida.
We border each other, so I'll be down there to the beach soon.
I lived in Georgia four years.
We got about 30 seconds, so I have to rush you along, unfortunately.
No, no, no.
Real quick, I just said the Democrats in that blowhole from MSNBC, Joy something, says that we blame the Republicans for the border situation, but as the lieutenant governor from Texas would say, that we need to blame them if the president and his administration would do their job.
