They strapped in to their seats and waited as the tanks beneath them filled with tens of thousands of gallons of fuel.
And then they launched.
Yeah, they did.

Sean Hennity.
The new Sean Hannity Show.
More behind the scenes information on breaking news and more bold, inspired solutions for America.
Stay right here for our final news roundup and information overload.
All right, news roundup information overload hour 800-941 Sean, if you want to be a part of the program, it's an amazing narrative that has come out.
And I went into great specificity and details in the last hour.
Wall Street Journal pointing out, well, but Donald Trump, we had intrusions when he was president on three separate occasions.
Here's a problem.
Well, John Bolton didn't know.
No friend of Donald Trump's.
Mike Pompeo didn't know.
The head of the director of national intelligence, Ratcliffe, didn't know.
Trump didn't know.
O'Brien didn't know.
And all of them say that it was total, complete BS.
And if they said, well, it only occurred for a very, very short duration.
Okay, do you think that the American people would have the right to know?
Just like we would have the right to know that another balloon was flying during Biden's term near Hawaii?
You've got to be kidding me.
But that is what they now want you to believe.
And it is a spectacular failure.
It is an indication of weakness at a level that is frightening for the United States.
How it first goes undetected.
You know, first they're following it, according to them, all the way from Alaska down to Idaho, right over our ICBM missile sites.
You know, we've got to ask this question.
When is it going to be time to get tough on China time?
When are we going to take back all the farmland they have been buying up and the ranch land that they have been buying up and all the land near military installations they have buying up and everywhere else?
When will Biden be forced to identify and then cancel any and all business that they as a family, the Biden family, has been or may be doing currently with the communist Chinese because that would be something that would be rather compromising for an American president if his family is making money off our number one geopolitical threat.
This is what Biden said about it over the weekend.
When I was briefed on the balloon, I ordered the Pentagon to shoot it down on Wednesday as soon as possible.
They decided without doing damage to anyone on the ground.
They decided that the best time to do that was if it got over water outside within the 12-mile limit.
They successfully took it down, and I want to compliment our aviators who did it.
And we'll have more to report on this a little later.
Thank you.
Because it wasn't about China on China.
You were saying the recommendation was from your national hydrogen.
You told them to shoot it down.
On Wednesday.
On Wednesday.
What the recommendation was.
They said to me, let's wait till the safest place to do it.
What does this mean for relations with China?
Now, by the way, John Ratcliffe's on tape, and I talked to a number of these former Trump officials, high-ranking, all saying the same thing.
Didn't happen.
And if it did, we would have known.
Here's John Ratcliffe.
The Department of Defense is claiming that there were three balloons, Chinese spy balloons, that entered the United States airspace during the Trump administration, and that they were not shot down and they were not disclosed.
Can you please tell us the truth and if that's true?
Well, it's not true.
I can refute it.
Former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper refuted it yesterday.
Former Secretary of State and CIA Director Mike Pompeo has refuted it.
But, Maria, the American people can refute it for themselves.
Do you remember during the Trump administration when photographers on the ground and commercial airline pilots were talking about a spy balloon over the United States that people could look up and see even with the naked eye and that a media that hated Donald Trump wasn't reporting?
I don't remember that either because it didn't happen.
Unbelievable.
800-941-Sean, our toll-free telephone number.
If you want to be a part of the program, we'll get to your calls.
Joining us now, Oklahoma Senator Mark Wayne Mullen is with us, newly elected from the great state of Oklahoma.
Sir, welcome aboard.
How are you?
Sean, I'm doing great.
How are you doing?
I'm good.
Let's get to the bottom line on this whole thing.
Even Leon Panetta acknowledged that Biden should have shot this balloon down before it was allowed to traverse the entire country.
They're saying it was a weather balloon.
It got off course and the winds were blowing it in such a direction that it went right over our ICBM missile sites and every other military installation that had passed over.
I don't believe any of it, and that they couldn't shoot it into little itsy bitsy pieces of dust.
I don't believe that either, sir.
No, I don't believe that.
We know for a fact it wasn't a weather balloon.
What I have concerned about, I know everybody's talking about the missile sites, but everybody can Google those and know the exact location.
My biggest concern on this, and this is just me based on some information that we've received.
I sit on the Senate and Armed Service Committee, and before that, I was on the House Intelligence Committee.
And the path that it was traveling, Sean, It really has concerns for me because they know the panic that we've had in the United States on gas prices and our petroleum and the attack that the administration has had on the energy sector, and they've weakened it drastically.
We also know that energy is a strong factor when you go to defend your country or you're at war, especially with a strong supply.
And if you think of the path that this thing went over, It went over a path that we have pipelines that also go down that path line and how to disrupt that, how to disrupt our supply, knowing that we don't have redundancy in our system like we would have if they wouldn't have canceled the Keystone pipeline.
They know we don't have redundancy in supplies or we wouldn't still be purchasing oil from Russia.
Instead, we've cut a million barrels per day out of our own public land production compared to when Trump was in office.
So we're down 1.8 billion or 1.8 million barrels per day of production just from the cut that the Obama administration had.
And we know that they're a threat.
And so if they disrupt that supply, especially a major supply coming in from Alaska, what type of disruption that would have to the American people and the resolve to fight China in the event that they were to attack Taiwan?
Well, that's a great point.
And I'm not sure that in any way that the Chinese have any fear whatsoever that Joe Biden's going to lift a finger if, in fact, Taiwan is reunified, to use the communist Chinese language.
It's not reunification.
They want to take over that country.
I don't think there's any fear of any of that on their part.
You know, what's so spectacular in all of this, putting aside the Biden family syndicate and the amount of money in the business deals and the money to the Penn Biden Center from Chinese nationals, anonymous, so-called, and you add all of the money in the Bank of China and shopping sprees and forgivable no-interest loans and so on and so forth.
It just is so conflicting.
But the reality is we now have Joe Biden allowing the sale of our strategic petroleum reserves.
This came up again last week, Senator, to the Communist Chinese.
He already depleted our strategic petroleum reserves by 50%.
This is the same Chinese that is buying our farmland, our ranch land, land near military installations, spying on Americans, according to the experts.
One state after another is now banning TikTok because they view it as a spy mechanism of the communist Chinese.
And we just sit here stupidly accepting this double standard.
Would the Chinese ever allow me to buy ranch land near any of their military installations?
I doubt it.
No, and it gets complicated.
And you're absolutely correct.
What's happening with us, we're turning what we call an appeasing eye towards China where we don't want to ruffle the feathers.
And just by the fact that they didn't come out and condemn them with very strong words, even after they condemned us for shooting down a balloon that floated up over the lower 48.
Do you believe it floated or was it controlled?
I believe it was probably controlled.
And I believe it was.
I'd bet everything I had that there was spying involved in some capacity.
Now, we do have the capability of blocking their signals from leading once we found that once we located it.
What I don't understand is the day that the news broke, I was in a briefing with the Center Armed Services with people that should have been very aware that this was going on, and they never mentioned it to any of us on the Armed Service Committee.
And it was a classified briefing that we were in.
And so it was down in a skiff.
And they could have very well informed us, and they didn't.
And then the fact that it was floating, the path that it took wasn't really following a natural jet stream.
And so that and the rate, the rate that it was traveling, it's traveling at a pretty good click to get it.
Well, can I ask you something?
Because I fly a lot and I know a lot of friends of mine that are pilots and I ask a lot of questions because that's just me.
I can't stop talking.
And I asked them, you know, your average plane can get up to 40,000, 45,000 feet.
They anticipate or they're guessing that this balloon was flying at 60,000 feet.
How is it that it went undetected for any period of time?
I don't believe it did get undetected.
I don't think it went undetected.
I think they were trying to hide it from the American people and hopefully it wasn't seen.
They just didn't realize how clear the skies were going to be over Montana.
And there's not a lot of activity there.
So they notice that kind of stuff.
What concerns me too, Sean, is the administration came out immediately and started saying, well, we're not worried about what they're seeing because with their satellite, their satellites can see the same thing.
That's absolutely not true.
And they know that that's not true.
In fact, that's an absolute lie.
The satellites are good.
They can take snapshots, but they're constantly moving and they go dark in certain areas.
So they only have a certain period of time to take a shot, but they can't stay over one spot.
When this is following a path, it is actually mapping what it's seen, and the resolution is much higher, and they can actually detect through thermals what's even below the ground.
The satellites aren't capable of doing that.
And so this balloon and the technology that we know that they have.
Now, granted, they haven't recovered it all yet.
We don't know exactly what it was carrying, but I don't think they'll ever be totally honest with us what it was carrying.
I can't imagine it taking that path.
If I am right, and they're talking about our resupply and the petroleum and crude that's coming from Alaska to the lower 48, I can't imagine them not wanting that information.
All right, quick break more with Oklahoma Senator Mark Wayne Mullen, and then we'll get to your calls, 800-941-Sean, our number on this Monday as we continue.

We continue with Oklahoma Senator Mark Wayne Mullen is with us, 800-941-Sean.
Our number, we'll get to your calls at the bottom of the half hour.
Let me ask you this, because I think this is very critical and crucial at this point.
And we're now having hearings.
Congressman Jim Comer is going to be leading up the hearings in the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee into the Biden family and their foreign business dealings.
Now, what we have reported has been pretty extensive.
Ten days after a trip, Hunter went on with his father to Asia, including China.
A deal was struck, some kind of private equity deal, is my understanding.
And it's been widely reported.
The deal was struck for $1 billion, later becoming a billion five for the Bank of China.
I'm not sure why they would pick Hunter Biden's firm.
I'm not sure about the wealth of experience that he has, just like I'm not sure why Burisma paid him money when he admitted he had no experience in oil, gas, coal, energy, or Ukraine, and yet he's being paid a fortune there too, or why a Russian oligarch is giving his firm business.
My question is, isn't it time for the Biden family, for the sake of this country, to divest of any and all financial interests, the entire family that might be intertwined with China, and disclose any past deals that have been made so the American people can see this plainly because it raises issues of conflict of interest at the very least in my mind.
Never mind far worse.
No, without question, the immediate family, meaning the sibling, his wife, himself, they shouldn't have any conflict.
There shouldn't be any interest that related directly.
His son, his brother.
But he lied to the American people, Senator.
He lied when he said he never spoke to Hunter, not a single time about his foreign business dealings.
We know that to be true now.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
We know that's true.
And I think the Biden administration, the Biden family, is going to go down more corrupt than even the Clinton.
And I mean that sincerely.
What they have done and the way they've dealt with Hunter Biden, the way that the laptop has been hushed, the way that they've continued covering up the connections that make no sense.
You don't use a Coke addict to make those $1.5 billion investments.
You don't put a Coke addict that has been caught with multiple prostitutes on video.
You don't put them on your board, Barisa.
You don't use that unless you're trying to use him to get to his father.
And the only reason why they would do that is if his father gave them the green light to do that, because none of that makes any sense.
The American people are not that dumb.
The Biden family, especially Joe Biden, believe that they are, believe that he'll say whatever he wants to because he's always got away with it his whole 44 years career in politics.
But that's important that the Republicans in the House underneath Speaker Kevin McCarthy are going to hold him accountable because there's no way that Democrats are going to hold him accountable.
They're still trying to chase Trump down.
And fairly he supposedly did corrupt, but they haven't found anything he's done corrupt to.
Otherwise, they would have already found it.
And I have no faith in a weaponized GOJ or a politicized FBI, which is Jim Jordan's Appropriations Committee.
We'll watch that too.
Anyway, Senator, don't let the swamp corrupt you, please.
It happens to a lot of people there, and don't drink the water.
It's not good.
And if you want a friend in D.C., get a dog.
My humble advice.
All right, let's go.
You know, I'm thinking about this balloon incident, and I'm apoplectic about it.
I'm angry about it.
It is an embarrassment for this country, beyond embarrassing.
And of course, they, as usual, wanted to hide it.
It's not the first incident.
And then they race to say, well, it happened during Trump.
And then when you read the details of what they're saying, well, we didn't find out until much later.
And it was only a minor incursion for a very short period of time.
And then everybody in the Trump administration, all throughout the Trump years, including Trump himself and Bolton and Pompeo and Ratcliffe and O'Brien and Esper, they all say it's total BS.
Nobody had heard of such a thing.
But that was their, that's what they go to, lying.
Anyway, and then I think, you know, this is the guy that's president.
I'll play a montage of Joe and the montage of Kamala.
And I'm thinking, why would I even begin to think they're even capable of anything better?
Listen.
More than half the women in my cabinet, more than half the people in my cabin, more than half the women in my administration are women.
You're just president.
Are you taking blame for inflation?
No.
Why not?
Because it was already there when I got here, man.
And even as the job market reaches historic highs, inflation continues to come down.
Come down.
Come down.
Only guy that I'm aware of when I stopped Friday Nametrack that had a key to get in the back.
When the hell has America ever, ever, ever set a goal that it didn't reach?
When has it ever?
Name me a time.
Name me a time.
And then.
Yeah, they did.
We are doing the work that is about collaborating around the small businesses that will need to do the work.
That's also what's also exciting about our small businesses and who they are because it spans the generations in addition to being intergenerational.
I mean, that's your president and vice president right there.
Unbelievable.
All right, let's get to our busy phones.
I can't really say, is that John in New York?
John, how are you?
Glad you called.
Good afternoon, Sean.
Thank you very much for having me on.
But yeah, I disagree with you to a large extent.
I think it's extremely plausible that these were actually meteorological balloons.
You think it was plausible, but yet our weather experts, and we can bring on Joe Bastardi if you want, would contradict what you're saying, that it wouldn't be following the natural weather patterns.
Good call, my friend.
Appreciate it.
Mendy is in North Carolina next on the Sean Hannity Show.
Hi.
Yeah, I just was wondering about with the hot air balloon if it could have been something I know it's been discussed a little bit, chemical warfare, another virus, something.
It's obvious that they would know we would shoot it down if it was in our vision.
So that was my first thought.
And being in North Carolina and then finding out that it was shot down about an hour from where I live, that made me even more nervous.
Yeah, well, I can understand that for sure.
I hope they're able to recover some of this.
They say it's in about 47 feet of waters scattered over a number of nautical miles.
So I would assume the rescue or search and rescue mission for the equipment is going to be hard.
Although I have great faith in our brave men and women in the military and their ability to get these things done.
It's just frustrating to me.
This was allowed to go on day after day after day.
And now they're telling us they knew on day one, they knew when this thing was in Alaska.
They knew when it was over Canada.
They knew when it went to Idaho.
Finally, the public sees it in Montana.
And only because the public sees it are we made aware of it.
The communist Chinese come out with all of their propaganda.
And I'm sorry, there's nothing that was handled correctly here.
And then they come out with this nonsense story about, well, the Trump administration, it happened three times, but it was only very short duration, and nobody knew about it.
Well, then how did you find out about it?
We found out after the fact.
I don't believe them.
I feel like we're being lied to.
You know, it takes a stretch to say, well, we didn't find out till many years later that there had been a minor incursion of a previous balloon, but Trump was president then.
I mean, this is their full-time obsession.
Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump, and any Republican that they can demonize and raise money off of.
So, I don't know.
It was struck about an hour away from your house, huh?
An hour's drive if you could get out there in the water.
Right.
I guess I have friends who were able to see it.
And I mean, my other thought is why else would they not shoot it down ahead of time, as you said?
And also, China isn't that stupid.
You'd think that they have some kind of a plan.
And if they knew that we were going to be able to see it, then, of course, you know, if they knew we were going to shoot it down as a show of power or as just prisoners.
What cracks me up is now they're threatening us.
Now they're angry at us for taking it down.
You know, it's now time to recognize a simple, undeniable truth.
After COVID and let's see, intellectual property theft and bad trade deals and COVID-19.
And let's see, why is Biden selling our strategic, depleted strategic petroleum reserves and fighting to do so?
Republicans now have to introduce legislation to stop Biden from selling our strategic petroleum reserves to China.
Why?
You know, why aren't we, you know, when are we going to learn, you know, that the communist Chinese are not our friends?
Why are we allowing them to buy our farmland or ranch land or land near military installations and everywhere else?
I think it's time for Biden to identify any and all business that they have done in the past or that he and his family might be involved in currently or any financial interactions that may still exist with the communist Chinese.
And hopefully the investigative committee of Jim Comer and Oversight will be able to find that.
But all of this, to me, it just, it makes us look so weak and so pathetic.
And the Chinese are laughing at us.
That's the sad part about all of this.
Anyway, good call.
I appreciate it.
Bill is in Florida, the free state of Florida.
Bill, how are you?
Glad you called.
How are we doing?
Fine.
How are you doing, Sean?
I'm good, sir.
What's going on?
The first time I saw the balloon thing on TV, I was reminded of the Japanese, and during World War II, the Japanese created this thing called a Fugo bomb and balloon bomb, and they launched 9,000 of them towards the United States.
300 of them actually made it all the way across the ocean.
And it was pretty ineffective.
One of them killed a few people, and one of them started a small fire.
So when I saw that balloon, I was thinking to myself, you know, I've had a lot of experience in nuclear physics and radar.
It dawned on me instantly that, you know, this isn't about spying.
This may be testing a delivery system for a future attack.
But because balloons are almost undetectable, in fact, they pretty much are undetectable by radar because there's so little metal in them.
Even the payload that they carry beneath them can be painted with a special stealth paint like we use, our materials that we use on our bombers.
So you can't see them on radar.
So here's what I want to ask you, because you seem knowledgeable about involving all these things, aeronautics, et cetera, et cetera.
Let me ask you this.
So when I fly from New York to the West Coast, it takes about an hour longer than the return flight west to east, depending on headwinds, tailwinds in each direction, right?
Okay, so explain to me when this balloon was over Alaska and over Canada, how it was heading south and not heading southeast at a precipitous rate if they didn't have control over it.
All right, so the winds aloft, the winds that are up really high go in one direction, and as you go down an altitude, they go different directions.
So when they say the balloon is steerable, they don't mean it has a propeller on it and a rudder.
What they're trying to tell you is what all balloonists know is that you can change the balloon's direction by going up or going down and catching an air current that's going in the desired direction.
So it's not a complicated thing to design a balloon that can go up and down.
As an example, it could drop little lead weights and go up.
And if it's too high, it can release gas and go down.
But that verifies my point or backs up my point that they had control over it.
That this wouldn't have been, this wouldn't have been, they wouldn't have been able to accomplish this, whether you're rising in altitude or descending in altitude.
But to go rather than go from west to east, which is naturally, depending on, you know, if you're at 40,000 feet, 45,000 feet, and they're saying 60,000 feet, you wouldn't be able to do that unless there was some control.
So it appears that they had full control of that balloon.
Does that seem like a fair observation?
Exactly.
And if they really wanted to scoot across the United States, they would have left it up at 80 or 100,000 feet and got into the jet stream.
They've been moving over 100 miles an hour.
My guess is there was an intentional drop in altitude so that they could maneuver it to the area that they want.
Whether they were taking pictures or not, it's not important.
I think what's really important is the fact that they tested their ability to steer a balloon to wherever they wanted to within reason because of the wind streams.
And perhaps it's a test for a future weapons design.
I mean, you can't see it with radar, and you can make it.
This one had a heat signature so that our sidewinder could find it and shoot it down.
But you can paint those things with camouflage in such a way that not even satellites can track them.
The story that we hear right now is that they've been tracking it since it left China.
Well, whether they were or they just had to say, they had to tell a fib that says, well, we've been tracking it since we left China because they're very difficult to see.
You seem very knowledgeable about this, and I really appreciate your input.
Thank you.
Bill in Florida, 800-941, Sean.
Speaking of Florida, I thought probably the most articulate on the Sunday shows this weekend was Marco Rubio, you know, pointing out that China sent a message to us with this balloon that you can't stop us.
And I agree with what he's saying.
And then he went on to say there's no comparison between the current spy balloon and those that flew during Trump's watch, which, by the way, nobody is confirming.
And even if it were true, everybody's saying, oh, we didn't find out until much later.
And it was for a very tiny duration.
So there's no moral equivalency here either.
Anyway, here's Marco Rubio.
They're going to try to recover this.
Apparently, it's in shallow waters.
We'll see what they recover from it.
But I don't think the technology or the existence of these things is a great mystery.
I think what's embedded here is a clear message.
It's not a coincidence that this happens leading up to the State of the Union address, leading up to Blinken's visit to China.
The Chinese knew that this was going to be spotted.
They knew that we were going to have to react to it.
They flew it over military installations and sensitive sites right across the middle.
I mean, look at the flight path of this thing.
It's a diagonal shot right through the middle of the continental United States.
And the message embedded in this to the world is we can fly a balloon over airspace of the United States of America and they won't be able to do anything about it to stop us.
They calculated this carefully with a message embedded in it.
And I think that's the part we can't forget here.
It's not just the balloon.
It's the message they're trying to send the world that we can do whatever we want and America can't stop us.
The Pentagon says that they know of the Chinese doing this at least four other times, previously once at the beginning of the Biden administration, three times during the Trump administration.
It seems to be you're saying, oh, you're saying no, that's not true.
But in any case, is the difference?
Okay, well, the difference is this.
Are we aware, have we seen the Chinese fly these balloons in the past?
Yes.
I think there's even Twitter pictures of it flying at one point off the coast of the U.S., down south somewhere.
The existence of the balloons is not a mystery to people in that field.
What we've never seen, what is unprecedented, and whoever the source was at the Department of Defense would have to acknowledge this, what is unprecedented is a balloon flight that entered over Idaho and flew over Montana, over all these sensitive military installations, Air Force bases, ICBM fields, right across the middle of the country.
That has never happened before.
That is unprecedented.
That it flew briefly over some part of the U.S. or continental U.S., that's one thing.
But what we saw this week, it's unprecedented.
And that's why everyone's reacting the way they're reacting.
We've never seen this.
So this is no comparison to anything that may have happened up to this point.
All right, that's going to wrap things up for today.
Full, complete coverage over this debacle.
Why didn't Joe Biden act early?
Why did they hide it from we, the American people?
Why did they push a phony narrative that Donald Trump had it happen three times on his watch?
That's Trump derangement syndrome.
Anyway, John Ratcliffe, who knows independently that it's not true, will join us.
Well, full coverage of all of this, the other news of the day, Mike Huckabee, Ari Fleischer, Clay Travis, Jimmy Phela, and Joe Concha, Nine Eastern, Setya DVR, Hannity, Fox News.
See you tonight, back here tomorrow.
