All right, news roundup and information overload hour 800-941.
Sean, if you want to be a part of the program, well, as we've been predicting, this is now the third month in a row, the Fed raising interest rates dramatically, another 75 basis points.
What does this mean?
It means that the cost of borrowing money is now out of reach for many Americans.
What does that mean for the housing market?
I've been predicting this.
It's now occurring.
New home construction has come to a screeching halt.
Sale of pre-existing homes is now ending, except for certain areas of the country geographically.
It's so funny, the month of August alone, 5,838 New Yorkers switched their driver's licenses to Florida in one month because people are escaping high taxation and they're going to a better economy and they're going to better weather on top of everything else.
So, and then that means home values will plummet as well.
And that means that you're getting killed in your IRA, your 401k, and now the equity you thought you had in your home that you did have in your home 19 months ago is evaporating right before your eyes as well.
And from my estimation, my vantage point, things are not going to get better because they're not changing their policies.
Then you can add to that, on top of all of that, all the money that Biden announced at the UN that he's spending today, money that we shouldn't be spending.
You know, he's bragging about the fact we're going to spend $369 billion on climate change and doubling down on zero-emission vehicles.
Listen to what he said today.
I've signed a historic piece of legislation here in the United States that includes the biggest, most important climate commitment we have ever made in the history of our country, $369 billion toward climate change.
That includes tens of billions in new investments in offshore wind and solar, doubling down on zero-emission vehicles, increasing energy efficiency, supporting clean manufacturing.
Our Department of Energy estimates that this new law will reduce U.S. emissions by one gigaton a year by 2030.
So, and to add to that, he promised another $200 billion for, quote, the world's food crisis.
We're already $31 trillion in debt.
We can't afford it.
The question is now we have two-thirds of the country living paycheck to paycheck.
We reported yesterday that many Americans are now borrowing on their credit cards, which usually have very high interest rates, in some cases, 21%.
They're borrowing just to meet their basic needs on a weekly, monthly basis.
That's not good for them because that's going to be really rough to get out of from under that kind of debt that you're talking about.
Anyway, what does this mean for you, your family, the country?
David Sokol is with us, author of America in Perspective, Defending the American Dream for the Next Generation.
Steve Moore, a member of President Trump's Economic Recovery Task Force, author of Trump Anomics, is with us.
All right, 75 basis points.
Steve Moore, we knew it was coming, and we're already officially in a recession.
And you see what's happened to the stock market over the last number of weeks.
You see what's happening around the world.
You see that our Western European allies are paying upwards of 174% higher energy costs to heat their home this winter.
Is that going to be the new normal in America?
God forbid.
But I want to make sure that your listeners understand crystal clear why this is happening, Sean.
And you have and I have been talking about this month after month after month.
The reason we have out-of-control inflation that the Fed is forcing the Fed now to raise interest rates is because Joe Biden has come into office, and as you just explained, he has spent and borrowed and printed $4 trillion.
$4 trillion.
That's about as much money adjusted for inflation as we spent to win World War II.
And what have we gotten for that money?
It was so obvious.
It was so patently obvious that if we move forward with that liberal big government agenda, we would see huge price increases.
And you're right.
There's nothing that Biden has proposed that is slowing it down.
In fact, you're right.
Today he committed another several hundred billion dollars.
I don't have a cash register that can keep up with this pace of spending.
I'll help you out.
He committed $369 billion on climate change and $200 billion on the food crisis in the world.
And, you know, I had Bill O'Reilly on earlier, and he rightly pointed out that money is going in the pockets of corrupt foreign leaders.
It's not going to make it to the people.
You know who's going to run that $369 billion fund, Sean?
I do not.
John Sparry?
John Podesta.
That's right.
He just got appointed.
This is the world's biggest political flush fund in the history of America by probably tenfold.
$369 billion for John Podesta to pass out to his political friends?
Pretty unbelievable.
There's no doubt about it.
David, let's get your take.
And by the way, an energy group has warned the National Energy Assistant Directors Association that Americans can expect a 35% home heating price spike this year.
Yeah, Sean, that's exactly right.
I mean, the Fed can't raise interest rates fast enough to keep up with the spending that this administration is doing.
That's the problem.
They've got to get inflation under control.
But if the government keeps spending dollars recklessly, it's going to be tough to do because that causes a spiral in wages.
And I'm fearful.
I don't know, Steve, how you feel, but I'm fearful of stagflation, which is the real problem because of the amount of wasted money that the governments around the world have spent over COVID.
And I say wasted because think of the trillions of dollars that the U.S. government spent.
Normally, if you did that, you would, again, think you're either fighting a world war or that you're building massive amounts of bridges and wastewater treatment plants and things that will make our economy grow.
This money has gone, to a large part, it just disappears.
You know, we had an example this morning of $250 million going to a feed children program that was just stolen.
Those are enormous dollars over time.
But the average American, the low and middle income, are going to get crushed because of this crazy chase to get rid of CO2 without any plan whatsoever.
I mean, think about this, that $300 billion that the president is bragging about, they're going to spend most of that on charging stations around the country.
But our government hasn't even agreed on a standard charging receptacle.
Tesla has a different one.
GM has a different one.
So what are we going to do?
Build three or four of them on every corner?
I mean, it's absolutely insane to spend this kind of money with no plan whatsoever.
Let's get your take.
Do you believe stagflation is the big threat, Steve Moore?
Yeah, absolutely.
No question about it.
You're seeing a slow-in-law.
Why don't we make it a little more fundamental?
I don't think most people understand stagflation.
It's important that they understand it.
Everybody's working for a living.
I wouldn't expect them to do it.
So stagflation is just a fancy term for high inflation and high joblessness at the same time, people losing jobs and paying higher prices.
And Sean, you know the last time we had that, right?
Who was president?
Jimmy Carter.
We haven't seen stagflation in a long time, so people aren't aware of how horrific it is.
That's when I graduated from college.
You couldn't even get a job as a burger flipper with a college degree back then.
And so we are at great risk.
David is exactly right.
You know, we've spent, it's not just that we spent and borrowed $4 trillion.
It's all we've gotten is windmills.
Do these people genuine that the author of windmills and solar panels as if that's the salvation to our economy?
You're looking at one thing you and I talked about the other night: a 6.2% mortgage rate means people are going to be paying about another $150,000 to $200,000 to buy a home over the 30-year mortgage rate.
And this was so predictable.
How about this, John?
There were 17 Nobel Prize economists last year who said, oh, Joe Biden's plan isn't going to cause inflation.
They said that in the New York Times.
They should give back their PhDs.
They were so wrong.
You know, it really is amazing.
But the reality is, in 19 short months, David, look at what's happened to the economy.
You know, in 19 months, we went from 1.4% consumer price index to now, what, 8.5%, the mid-87 months in a row.
Inflation was supposed to be transitory.
Now they're trying to get a grip on it.
But the reality is we're paying more.
We're paying more.
Our car payments are the highest they've ever been.
We're still paying almost double what we paid under Trump for gasoline.
Every item we buy in every store we go to, we're paying a massive markup.
You know, then Joe Biden comes out today and he starts talking about a global minimum tax for corporations.
Now, before I play this, I want to warn my audience: corporations do not pay taxes.
You pay them.
They pass that cost on to you.
Listen.
With partners in the Americas, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, and the Indo-Pacific, we're working to build a new economic ecosystem where every nation, every nation gets a fair shot.
And economic growth is resilient, sustainable, and shared.
That's why the United States has championed a global minimum tax.
And we will work to see it implemented so major corporations pay their fair share everywhere.
Everywhere.
Everywhere.
So am I right in my analysis, David?
Corporations don't pay taxes, or is that misleading on my part?
Yeah, no, it's absolutely correct.
Corporations collect taxes.
A corporate income tax is no different than a sales tax.
It gets collected by the corporation and paid to the government.
And it's just, you know, the government just can't find enough ways to take the average taxpayer's money.
And unfortunately, these taxes are hidden.
You know, when the president says there'll be no increase in any taxes for people under $100,000 or $200,000, every time sales tax is raised, every time corporate income tax is raised, it's coming out of your pocket because it's going into those costs that you're spending at the gas station and everything else.
And that's the real crime here.
When I first got out of college in 1978 and got married, we took our paycheck, cashed it, and we put it into envelopes.
This much for utility bills, this much for gasoline, this much for food, for clothing.
That's how you have to budget when you're in lower income and lower middle income.
All of a sudden, you see these massive changes.
You're tripling in utility bills, gasoline prices out of control.
And these are self-inflicted wounds.
This whole CO2 craziness with no plan, if they would actually try to reach consensus on a plan as to how to do something, you could do it in the least cost way, in the least effective, the least harmful way to the lower income.
But that's not what this is about.
This is all about virtue signaling and pretending that we're doing something by talking about it.
The problem is they're pretending with trillions of dollars.
Well, you know, Sean, what David's saying is true, and I've heard you cite the statistics, so I'll repeat it.
$3,600 a year is how much families are losing because of inflation.
And that's just, inflation is just a tax, Sean.
It's just a tax on the American consumer.
And think about that.
That's a $300 a month tax that you're paying for Biden's massive overspending.
And it's the cruelest tax of all because the lowest income and the middle income working class families are the ones who pay it.
Quick break right back.
More with David Sokol.
More with Stephen Moore.
More on the economy.
Don't forget President Trump, 9 Eastern tonight on Hannity.
Your calls, final half hour, straight ahead, 800-941-Sean, our number, if you want to be a part of the program.
Folks, back in the good old days, we Americans, we argued about which policies to pursue to improve this great country we love.
Sadly, today we find ourselves arguing about whether our country is great or not and whether we should love America or be ashamed of America.
Now, the reason for a lot of this is for far too many years, too many of our schools have been neglecting to teach young Americans about our great heritage of liberty and presenting them instead with a dishonest narrative that America is fundamentally unjust and unfair, etc.
Now, Hillsdale College is weighing in for America.
They're offering a free online course such as The Great American Story, A Land of Hope.
Also, they have their other free course, Constitution 101, The Meaning and the History of the Constitution.
As we now just passed Constitution Day, I encourage all of you to enroll in one of these wonderful courses at Hillsdale and encourage your friends and your coworkers to do the same.
Anyway, you can begin your free Hillsdale College course today.
Just go to Sean4Hillsdale1word.com.
That's S-E-A-N-F-O-R Hillsdale.com, and you're going to love Hillsdale College.
We continue now with David Sokol and Steve Moore and our discussion of the 75 basis point increase in interest rates yet again today.
What's happening at the border, if we would have kept the Trump policies, it would have been preventable.
If we would have kept energy independence, we were a net exporter of energy.
We could actually, not only would we be paying lower gas prices, it would dramatically impact inflation and lower the inflation struggle that couples have, on average, $6,800 a year in Biden inflation tax.
It would lower the cost of every good that's delivered to every store that we go to, everything that we purchase, because it would be cheaper to get it there.
And then we could take it to the next level, and that would be energy dominance, because Western Europe right now, they need energy.
Germany, Italy, looking at 175% increase in their heating bills this winter alone.
Some people will be paying 30% of their yearly income just to heat their home this winter, David.
Yeah, it's coming here, Sean.
And just as a slight twist, you know, the reason Adam Brand and I wrote this book, American Perspective, is to get people to understand this election is critical.
If you look at how our country, how our president is turning into a monarch, we are a government that was formed by our founding fathers.
We, the people, were governed by the people, and they are working very hard to take it away.
If you look at a Federman in Pennsylvania vowing to do away with the filibuster in the Senate so that they can destroy the Supreme Court, if we break down the checks and balances in this country and give people like Joe Biden and Barack Obama, et cetera, the right to destroy this society over time, we have to blame ourselves.
Conservatives, independents, this election is not about the individual.
It's about a party that's out of control on the progressive side, and they want to do away with the Supreme Court.
They want to add senators to the Senate.
It's crazy.
Our Constitution forces consensus, and that was the purpose of our founding fathers so that we the people control it.
You know, when the President of the United States gives a speech in Massachusetts and says, well, the courts won't let me do it.
Congress won't give me what I want, so I'll do it myself.
That's not America.
That's Russia.
That's China.
And people need to pay attention because we are going to lose control of this country if we lose the Supreme Court.
All right, guys.
I got to take a quick break.
We'll come back.
We really appreciate you both being with us.
Our friends David Sokol and Steve Moore, 800-941, Sean, your calls straight ahead as we continue.
Hi, 25 now to the top of the hour.
800-941 Sean, our number, if you want to be a part of the program, will be interviewing President Trump tonight.
A lot of ground to cover with the announcement of the civil suit against Trump, the Trump family, the Trump kids, the Trump organization, the Trump Revocable Trust, you name it, against pretty much everybody.
But again, a civil suit, fulfilling her campaign promise.
That's the AG of New York, Letitia James.
All right, let's get to your calls.
You've been very patient today.
We've had a lot of news to fit in here.
Let's say hi to Zachary.
He's out on Long Island in New York, by the way, which went red in the last election.
It'll be imperative if Lee Zeldon has any chance to be governor.
How are you, Zachary?
Glad you called.
Sean, glad I called, and I'm doing well.
Thank you for asking.
I am, yes, hoping that Red keeps Long Island stays red and Zeldon gets elected.
First, the first thing I want to say is I admire what you've accomplished in life.
I come from the same place and worked my you-know-what off just like you did to get through school and to get through life.
Nobody ever handed me anything.
What's interesting is you and I get vilified for having some success in our lives, but if you're a basketball player or a singer, you don't get vilified for having a lot of money.
Anyway, I have to say that.
But that stuff doesn't bother me.
And you know what?
Coming from, I think it's one of the best blessings of my life.
Blue-collar work keeps me grounded.
It kept me grounded.
My belief in God keeps me grounded.
And then, you know, things don't make you happy.
And remember one other thing.
We're all renters.
Oh, I own my house.
You don't own your house.
I own my car.
You don't own your car.
Because when you die, somebody else will be living in your house and driving your stupid car that you love so much.
Right.
That's exactly right.
I agree with you 100%.
But it's, you know, what you've accomplished, I admire.
It's a lot of work.
I did the same thing, and I'm glad for it.
Anyway, I'd like to run something by you.
You know, a lot of people wonder why are the Democrats ruining the country?
Why are they leaving the border open?
And why is there crime everywhere and it's being allowed more and more?
Why is the economy going into the you-know-where?
I have a theory.
I think they want this country over the next several months or even a couple of years to get worse and worse and worse because then they know they're going to lose the election.
They may have a good chance of losing the presidential election.
And after that, when things are horrific and the Republicans are in power, they're going to claim we have all the solutions, like the firefighter turned arsonist.
And they are sure that's going to get them re-elected with more power than they have now.
Because by then, they'll be able to take over everything.
No more energy in your house.
Oh, the government runs the energy now.
That kind of thing.
Can I fine-tune what you're saying here?
Yes, this is by design, but let me just fine-tune it a hair and see if you agree with me.
And they keep stating it.
They want to transition off of fossil fuels to renewable energy independence, to quote Pete Buttujudge.
That's fine if you can get us cheaper, cleaner energy.
I'm all for it.
I'm all the above guy.
You're going to save me money?
I'm all for it.
If you can get me an electric vehicle that doesn't cost $22,000 more than my vehicle and doesn't rely on the fossil fuel electric grid to be recharged, fine.
Here's their problem.
They don't have the technology.
They don't have the alternative.
So even in the short term, and I'm defining short term by the next two decades, I don't see any realistic hope of them achieving this.
And they're trying to force it upon us without a viable alternative.
And yes, they think they're doing God's work because they think, like AOC said a couple of years ago, we only got 12 years left.
And I made fun of it.
I'm like, okay, if we have 12 years left, why are we working so hard?
We might as well just have fun.
We'll have one big party.
We'll all go out together.
But Al Gore's been proclaiming this for decades.
So it's not based on reality, technology, science.
They don't have the renewables to the point that anywhere close to replacing fossil fuels.
So they see it.
I agree with what you're saying, totally.
But my point is that they don't care if they have the solution or not.
This ruination of the country over the next whatever it is, that's going to allow them to be available.
They're going to promise they're going to fix everything.
And they can't.
But they've implemented these policies, and we've had what?
A 41-year record in inflation, record high gas prices.
And by the way, they're lower temporarily because he's, frankly, irresponsibly, for national security reasons, tapped into the strategic petroleum reserves.
Those gas prices, they're all going up.
Mark my words.
And we're now going to be paying more for energy.
But I'm saying they're forcing something without the science to back it up.
That's a problem.
Yep.
But I think they don't care whether they can back it up or not.
All they want to do is have everything horrible while the Republicans are in power and then offer both solutions just to get elected.
They can't fix it.
Of course not.
Nobody can.
You're right.
But that's not their point.
They just want to offer solutions to get reelected.
All right.
Listen, I hope there's some genius, radical, environmental climate alarmist cult member out there that comes up with cheap energy that's cleaner than what we got.
Guess what?
You're going to be a trillionaire.
But that's not going to happen in the near future that I can see.
They don't have the technology.
Nancy is in Rhode Island.
I lived there five years, and I lived in Warren, Rhode Island.
I hope you know where it is.
Yes, I do.
I love Rhode Island.
I'm originally from New York.
Yes, it is beautiful.
I want to say thank you for taking my call.
And I really want to commend you first and foremost on your coverage on this disaster that's going on on our border.
Your coverage is second to none.
Your insight, your interviews, you are spot on with that.
I never miss your show.
You're doing a great job.
And I just want to say keep up the great work on that.
You're the best.
Well, it's sad because we set a record yesterday, for the first time in the history of this country, 2 million illegal immigrants, and it's only September.
Now, if you want border security and you want lower energy prices and you want to fix the economy and you want to not spend these billions and billions, hundreds of billions that Joe Biden was promising at the UN today, there's a way out, and that is to elect the Republicans in the House and Senate in 48 days.
I don't have the ability to do that for everybody.
I only have one vote.
But all of you together have the power to change this country and get us back on track.
I was just thinking it would be great as far as these governors that are sending illegals to the sanctuary cities.
It would be great to use Kamala Harris's words against her and tell her they will not stop and they should not stop and they should continue and they should not let up, use her own words against her that she used when she was talking about the protesters in regard to these governors sending the illegals all over to these sanctuary cities.
They should not stop.
They should just keep on doing it until the rest of the country gets the idea that this is not okay.
And Florida and Texas should not be bearing the brunt of all these illegal people coming over our border.
It's just an absolute disaster and something's got to be done.
Something has definitely got to be done.
Again, 48 days, a lot of things can change.
If we get the House and Senate, and the Senate's going to be hard.
I'm not Pollyannish about this.
Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Ohio, certainly the state of Wisconsin is in there.
We have Missouri.
We have Nevada.
We have Colorado.
We have Arizona.
We have Washington State.
By the way, the state of Connecticut may even be in play there.
So we've got to just do our best to get everybody out to vote.
That means you have to embrace all the conservatives I know that have been so anti-mail-in voting, early voting, et cetera.
You're going to have to get over it for now because until Republicans can get control of state legislatures and get the governorships back, it's going to be the system you have, not the one you wish you had.
And that means that if Democrats are going to take advantage of that system, we need to be on the same playing field to maximize our chances of success.
Anyway, good call.
Thank you for your kind words.
I was beginning to blush, Linda.
Is that bad?
I don't know.
I mean, you're pretty pale.
I think blushing probably looks good on you.
Well, that's called makeup for TV.
Listen, I think people are very kind and they don't have a lot of places to go to.
So I'm very grateful for that.
People tell me when they meet me in person, you look younger in person.
You're skinnier in person.
You're taller in person.
I'm like, so old, fat, and short on TV.
That's what they're telling me.
But it's true.
I mean, TV does add 10 pounds.
It's just part of the business.
And when people see me with makeup on, I just give them the pose and the coffin look.
I'm like, this is what I'm going to look like in my coffee.
Because it looks exactly like a corpse.
You know, because you've been there, you've seen it.
It's rough.
Is there any difference?
Am I telling the truth?
I mean, you know, I cannot tell a lying.
You are preaching from the truth pulpit, as usual.
All right, let's get to our busy, busy phones.
Let's say hi to Brad in Vegas.
What's up, Brad?
Now, you have Adam Laxalt now pulling ahead in that Senate race.
That is a huge pickup for Republicans if we can get that, just like Blake Masters and Carrie Lake in Arizona.
It'd be huge opportunities for Republicans.
Hey, Sean, how are we doing today?
Thank you for taking my call.
Thank you.
How are you?
Oh, I'm doing all right.
I'm doing all right.
Hey, just real quick, I was just, I don't understand how we have this so-called immigration problem if our borders are so tight.
Why don't we do it like Vegas does with their timeshares and have them sign some paperwork?
And then if they sit through the presentation, then they get a gift of a plane fight somewhere.
Then they're just a tourist that's unprepared.
You know, look, I think all these lawsuits, I think, have really given Republicans the biggest opportunity that they've ever had.
Number one, what Greg Abbott and Ron DeSantis have done here is expose just the rank hypocrisy at a very, very high level.
So when I read that, you know, all these lawsuits are coming, I'm kind of laughing to myself because what this means is Democratic lawyers, you know, exploit this is the exploitation of migrants.
This is kidnapping.
This is human trafficking.
I'm like, okay, so they want to sue over that.
Well, guess who's going to get the next lawsuit?
Joe Biden's going to be sued next.
That's the person who'll be sued.
And for good reason, because he's been aiding and abetting the law breaking the whole time and facilitating it.
He's given preferential treatment to illegal immigrants, as we have chronicled.
And Joe Biden himself is a human trafficker based on their definition.
And they have shown themselves, based on their own definition, to be xenophobic and racist because they were out of Martha's vineyard, Martha's Vineyard, in less than 24 hours.
Anywhere but my backyard in sanctuary cities like Washington, D.C., New York City, Martha's Vineyard, you name it.
It just blows me away.
I don't understand how people can be so blind, but pig-headed at the same time.
Yeah, well, half the country voted for Biden.
That's not good.
Anyway, let's get to our busy phones.
Let's say hi to Don is in Iowa.
Don, how are you?
Hello.
Hey, Don, what's up?
Glad you called.
Hi, Sean.
Thank you for taking my call.
I appreciate it.
I'm a truck driver over the road, and I've been very concerned with everything that's going on, and that includes these lawsuits against Republican governors, and the Democrats have shown their hand by doing it, or these criminal charges against Republicans.
And that includes the charges against Trump.
And the Democrats are just showing that they're just going to charge Republicans with everything.
They're just going to keep pressing charges and pressing charges.
And they're proving that what Joe Biden has been doing by shipping illegal aliens around the country is illegal in itself.
It is trafficking.
And we are just, you know, we are victims of it.
But like Sololitsky says, always charge your opponent with that which you are guilty.
You know, Bill Barr has been very critical of Trump lately.
And anyway, he went on a rampage today about Letitia James.
And anyway, when it comes to this ridiculous suit today, and it's a civil suit.
Anyway, he says she doesn't have a leg to stand on.
And he dismissed the central allegation that Trump overvalued his properties to secure inflated bank loans.
He pointed out what I've been saying, that property valuations are highly subjective, and banks don't take the customer's word for an asset's worth.
They make their own loan decisions based on their own valuations because they have a fiduciary responsibility to do so.
And anybody that thinks any differently is out of their mind.
Anyway, 800-941-Sean is our number.
Hang on a sec.
