| There's a long tradition of the executive branch recognizing the role of the press in a democratic society. | |
| Trump frequently degrades news outlets and insults journalists. | |
| With trust in the media already at low levels, he's pouring salt in a wound. | |
| This year's event turned out so badly, the White House Correspondents Association, even they issued an apology. | |
| So I guess it's safe to say that President Trump made the right choice. |
