Can Joe Biden Survive + Is Doug Burgum The Right Man For VP? The StoneZONE
| Copy link to current segment

Time Text
The Stone Zone, with legendary Republican strategist and political icon and pundit, Roger Stone.
Stone has served as a senior campaign aide to three Republican presidents.
He is a New York Times best-selling author and a longtime friend and advisor of President Donald Trump.
As an outspoken libertarian, Stone has appeared on thousands of broadcasts, spoken at countless venues, and lectured before the prestigious Oxford Political Union and the Cambridge Union Society.
Due to his four-plus decades in the political and cultural arena, Stone has become a pop culture icon.
And now, here's your host, Roger Stone!
Welcome, I'm Roger Stone, and yes, you are back in the Stone Zone.
What less than ten days can change in American politics is really quite extraordinary.
There's an old saying that in politics, a day is a lifetime.
Today, what we see is complete fratricide in the Democrat Party.
Those who were fully aware of Joe Biden's infirmity and actively acted to hide it and make excuses for it are now viciously calling for his head.
My sources tell me that Hunter Biden has emerged both as his father's chief political advisor And the gatekeeper in terms of who can actually get in to see Joe, besides members of the Biden family.
Dr. Jill is quite obviously intent on holding on to power.
And one has to assume that the other members of the Biden family, who have now been documented as taking millions of dollars from Russia, Ukraine, Romania, China, Syria, Mexico, and so on.
Well, they'd like to avoid prosecution and incarceration.
So the internal pressure on Joe Biden to stay in the race from his family and those directly around him has to be enormous.
On the other hand, there's growing panic as Chuck Schumer, the Senate majority leader, and Hakeem Jeffries, The House Minority Leader are beginning to look at polling that shows that states and districts that were heretofore thought to be safe now appear to be competitive.
In other words, there is a fear that Joe Biden could take the entire Democratic ticket down and deliver control of both houses to the Republicans.
Add to that that the very biggest bundlers in the Democratic Party, Democrat Party, pardon me, including a fellow named Kramer out of New York, who is the biggest bundler and Democrat fundraiser in New York, have cut off the money to Joe.
So Joe's survival today is 50-50.
If Joe Biden does manage to survive, he will go into a campaign in which it is inevitable that there will be other public disasters where Joe forgets where he is, or can't remember a name, or tells another audacious lie, or falls down.
The possibilities here are endless.
If the Democratic Party does manage, pardon me, the Democrat Party, does manage to get Joe Biden to step aside as a candidate, not resign as president, but step aside as a candidate, it will be very hard to deny Kamala Harris this nomination.
She's worked very hard behind the scenes to consolidate her position.
I still reiterate, as I have on this show for many months, in fact, many years, that if they do, in fact, throw this open to an open convention, Which is being actively discussed, a three-week sudden-death open convention, that Michelle Obama would remain the favorite, that Michelle Obama would conceivably be drafted.
Now, so far, my sources tell me that she has been approached, but she does not want to run.
That is consistent with what I've been saying all along.
I never said she would run, I said she would be drafted.
One thing is absolutely clear, and that is regardless of whether Joe Biden leaves or stays, the Democrat ticket is going to have a woman on it.
at the convention and a demand that she is probably the strongest potential candidate against a surging Donald Trump.
One thing is absolutely clear, and that is regardless of whether Joe Biden leaves or stays, the Democrat ticket is going to have a woman on it.
It could have two, although that wouldn't be smart, but it will have at least one.
To me, that requires a recalculation by President Donald Trump about his running mate, and I hope we're going to discuss that.
Joining me now is my usual co-host at Slingshot.News, Troy Smith.
Slingshot is really making incredible traction and progress as a media outlet, over one million downloads.
This couple days, this couple week, extraordinary.
I don't have the exact statistics, but it's a story of success.
Congratulations, Troy.
Thank you, Roger.
And being here on the Stone Zone has surely helped.
And our audience here coming over to Slingshot and reading the articles, sharing them around.
It's a tremendous effort.
And I think it's because, you know, we're breaking things down truthfully, Roger.
And we're also not just focused on politics.
You know, we have a lot of people that come to Slingshot News that are All right, so let's bring in our guest.
This morning's media controls a reiteration of the fact that President Donald Trump is down to three individuals as his potential vice president.
Doing really well.
And it's an honor to be back here in the Stone Zone after our little Fourth of July break here.
All right.
So let's bring in our guest.
This morning's media controls a reiteration of the fact that President Donald Trump is down to three individuals as his potential vice president.
One of them is Florida Senator Marco Rubio.
One of them is former North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum.
And one of them is JDV.
Vance, the new Senator from Ohio.
I met Doug Burgum at the Collier County Republican Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner, where we both spoke.
Mark Robinson, the Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina, was also there.
He's the Republican nominee.
Governor of North Carolina, very impressive, very charismatic.
But I also candidly was very impressed with Doug Burgum.
I was impressed by the speech he gave in which he gave full-throated support for President Donald Trump.
Unfortunately, however, the more I dig, the more I'm beginning to wonder whether Doug Burgum is who we think he is.
Joining us now is Shane Trejo, a political reporter with Big League Politics, who has, I think, a very important piece written on this exact subject.
Troy, welcome back into the Stone Zone.
Happy to be here.
Troy, this piece that you wrote is really groundbreaking.
We don't have much of a conception of what exactly Doug Burgum did as governor.
But the thing I find most disturbing is you say in your piece that Burgum allowed Chinese nationals to purchase, I believe it was 40,000 acres, very close to the North Fork's military base in North Dakota, where some of our most sensitive and powerful weapons are stored and from which they are deployed.
How does Donald Trump Campaign against the power of China.
Campaign against, specifically, China buying up our farmland, our ranch land, systematically buying up land close to military facilities in our country, when his own running mate seems to have done exactly that.
It doesn't quite add up.
From everything that I've seen, you know, Burgum is putting himself out there as if he's an America First patriot.
He's being promoted by Fox News incessantly.
They're constantly talking about how great of a guy he is.
He's allowed to go on there, spew the right talking points.
And, you know, the Fox News people will gush all over him about how he's the next George.
You look so much like George Washington.
You're so great.
You know, you do such a great job in North Dakota.
But when you look pure into his record, you're not only giving money, rolling up the red carpet for China to come in and swallow up farmland, but also going back decades as a crony of Bill Gates from his days in the tech industry, when his company Great Plains Media was Swallowed up by Bill Gates back in the late 1990s.
Bill Gates kept him on, kept him on as a director for several years in Microsoft, and they've had a very chummy relationship since.
Bill Gates gave $150,000 to the Burgum campaign when he was running for governor, and then when Bill Gates came in as a part of his land grab the rules in the state of North Dakota, which are to prevent corporations coming and swallowing up farm rules work.
Oh, the rules were waived.
And unfortunately, Bill Gates was able to swallow up that land.
And the corporations, you know, the laws preventing the corporations, Burgum's Attorney General looked the other way, and just dragged their feet and had no interest in enforcing the law.
So Bill Gates got that special privilege.
And that's the way Burgum operates.
He's going to support the corporate elite, and if he's in there as vice president under Trump, it's not a guy he can trust.
It's going to be another Mike Pence-style situation.
Shane, first of all, I apologize for calling you Troy.
It is Monday morning.
Again, if you're just tuning in, Shane Trejo with Big League Politics joining us now to talk about his groundbreaking piece regarding Governor Doug Burgum.
One of the other disturbing things here was not only the fact that it appears to me that Bill Gates actually made Burgum a very wealthy man.
In other words, when he purchased Burgum's company, it was for close to $2 billion.
So his wealth appears to come from Bill Gates.
That is disturbing.
but also a report that he has signed a transgender bill that I think most Republicans would have real problems with.
Tell us about that.
Yes, so Burgum, as a governor, has stood up for the so-called rights of transgender athletes to compete in sporting events outside of their birth gender.
So he vetoed legislation that would have made it so that no transgender women, born a man, could participate in female sporting events.
He said, everything's just fine.
It's not a real problem.
I'm vetoing it.
And then, you know, that's bad enough.
But then he also a year, a couple years later, vetoed legislation that would have banned the use of transgender pronouns by public school officials.
So he has allowed the sort of the transgender insanity to fester within North Dakota schools.
And he said, this is a really insulting quote, the teaching profession is challenging enough without the heavy hand of state government forcing teachers to take on the role of pronoun police.
So totally, you know, basically spitting in conservative spaces.
He also vetoed school choice legislation and then invited Biden Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm into his state to promote global warming propaganda, says that North Dakota is going to get down to carbon net zero policies.
And of course, he talks about that's going to be done through the free market.
And that's why Republicans should support So he's out there championing this leftist propaganda and then acting like, oh, it's a Republican thing to do.
So in terms of his record, it's very bad.
And that's really unfortunate that he's being pushed so hard right now.
He's being put out there, obviously, to get Trump's attention and talk a good game to try to get on as vice president.
So this guy is a Trojan horse.
He's being put out there as a way to subvert the MAGA agenda.
And when you appear into his record, it's pretty obvious that's the case.
Troy, do you have a question for our guest, Shane Trejo of Big League Politics?
Absolutely.
Absolutely, Shane.
I love your piece on this, particularly, especially the Bill Gates angle.
And my question to you, specifically with Burgum, is why do you think that there's so many in the conservative world, you know, I see people who are usually very light on their feet, you know, people who really understand what's going on, who have been kind of fooled by Doug Burgum.
And when I did a cursory search on Burgum early on, when he was mentioned as a person that they were considering, it was pretty alarming.
You know, you see, You see things like Big Pharma, you see things like Bill Gates, you pointed out.
And my question is, why has he been able to fool so many people in the conservative movement?
Do you think that there are donor interests who are promoting Burgum as kind of a Trojan horse here?
I don't want to speculate, but my guess is that there's a lot of, you know, influencers on social media who might be getting a paycheck or two to talk about how great Burgum is.
I've seen pictures of, look at him in a cowboy hat.
Oh, he's riding a horse.
Oh, he's so, look at how great this guy is.
Isn't that the same BS?
That they used to sell us on George W. Bush, who was, you know, born with the silver spoon from Connecticut, but then he, oh, he moves to Texas and he's wearing a cowboy hat.
He's a cowboy.
He's one of us.
He's, he's one of the gang.
He's a real American.
So they're, they're just recycling the same propaganda against us and hoping that we're stupid enough to fall for it.
And I think it's being promoted deliberately by certain influencers, by Fox news, by the establishment.
I don't feel like there's any real groundswell in favor of Burgum.
On the ground in Michigan, no one's talking about Doug Burgum other than, who is that guy?
Why am I seeing so much of him?
I don't know if I trust this guy.
From what I've seen, the groundswell of people on the grassroots, they want Ben Carson or J.D.
Vance.
as the vice president of the people who've kind of been floated out there as potential vice presidential candidates.
So everything that's being done to promote Burgum is astroturf, and I'd be leery of any influencer, supposed MAGA influencer, who's getting on the Burgum train right now.
I note that Burgum also vetoed school choice legislation promoted by conservatives in North Dakota.
Look, either one of the two candidates you just mentioned would be greatly preferable.
I I could be enthusiastic about Dr. Ben Carson.
I could be enthusiastic about J.D.
Vance.
What do we know about both of them?
Well, neither one of them is a neocon.
I think it is vitally important for the future of the America First movement, also for the safety of President, a President, Donald Trump, that we select someone Who shares vision, his vision, someone who the radical left and the globalists are just as afraid of as they are Donald Trump.
That is not based on what I've seen Doug Burgum, yet the conservative media has really not touched upon his record.
All they focused on is the more recent pro-Trump things that he said.
Now, when I've seen him on the networks defending Trump, he's been quite good.
He's good on his feet, but then Mike Pence was good too, right up until the moment that he wasn't.
I'm afraid that while I will support whoever the president designates, and I want to make that clear, I think that there's an important dynamic here when you watch what's going on with the Democrats.
The president has hinted that he may name his running mate as soon as tomorrow.
At a massive rally at Doral, Florida.
Part of me thinks this is just Donald Trump with another massive tease.
He is the master of the tease.
And of course, legally, he doesn't have to name his running mate right up until the moment of the Republican National Convention, which opens in terms of full session next week.
I guess we'll see whether others in the alternative and conservative media catch on and start writing about Doug Burgum's real record.
Troy, final thoughts?
Well, and Roger, I wanted to ask you kind of just electorally, as far as Burgum goes, do you think that there's any support that's gained if he is the eventual nominee?
I mean, it would seem to me of J.D.
Vance, you know, you may, we've talked about Ohio here on the state and I think you have even said that you view as You view Ohio as kind of solidly red.
I'm not sure that J.D.
Vance helps you a lot.
I'm not sure that Ben Carson helps you a ton electorally.
And I'm interested to hear your thoughts.
Is Doug Burgum really getting Trump any votes?
And if he's not, which candidate of all the speculated candidates do you think gives Trump the biggest boost in 2024?
Well, first of all, let me say there are two schools of thought on this.
Former President Richard Nixon once told me directly, In selecting a running mate, don't look for someone who can help you, just find someone who doesn't hurt you.
Kind of ironic in the fact that I think Nixon in 1960 and in 1968 ended up picking running mates that did not help him, and a case could be made that they hurt him.
So the do no harm school, don't look for somebody who gets you some new votes, Just get someone who won't be a distraction, who will have your back, who you can count on not to contradict you when you're on one end of the country and they are on the other.
Dr. Ben Carson would certainly meet that criteria.
He is loyal.
He's run for president before, so he's tested.
He's sure-footed.
He's solid.
I don't think he gets you any particular voter group that you don't already have, but he is dependable.
J.D.
Vance, I think, is an exciting idea because it brings youth to the ticket and potentially some outreach to millennials.
He has a distinguished service record in the military, which I think is vitally important.
I do wonder whether two years in the U.S.
Senate, really less than two years, is enough Persuade the American people that you have the experience and the temperament and the judgment to be vice president and therefore potentially president.
On the other hand, Richard Nixon was very young when Dwight Eisenhower picked him.
He had had only four years in the House, two years in the Senate, plus of course his service in the US Navy.
So given the fact that Donald Trump is 77, Although a vigorous and sharp 77, unlike Joe Biden, J.D.
Vance, I think, could bring more to the ticket than some of the other names being mentioned.
I like Marco Rubio on a personal level.
Marco Rubio, as a Florida constituent, has been very good to my family, helped my wife get into a program at NIH when she had cancer.
I'm happy to say she's now three years cancer-free, but candidly, my politics are not his politics, and his politics are really not President Trump's politics.
They are in this hemisphere, where Rubio has been great, hard-line on the communists in Venezuela, the communists in Cuba, yet I wonder whether he would be in favor of sending more money to Ukraine, for example, which of course he has voted for.
Again, I'm not endorsing any candidate, and I'll support whoever the president chooses in his wisdom, but I think this is getting more and more interesting.
Shane, how can people follow your great work?
Where should they go?
Check out BigLeaguePolitics.com.
We got a lot of good stories up there.
We're, you know, exposing the kind of bad elements that are trying to hijack MAGA.
So, check out BigLeaguePolitics.com and follow me there.
All right, great.
Thanks very much for Shane Trejo with Big League Politics.
A very important story, a story that I think will get some substantial pickup today.
One thing, again, I say for sure, regardless of what happens in the Democrat Party, their candidate is going to contain a woman.
It's going to include a woman.
I think it's important that President Trump and his advisors give some thought to that.
Thank you so much for joining us today in the Stone Zone.
Folks, do you remember not that long ago when AT&T's entire cellular system went down?
I wasn't able to reach my wife, my family, my business associates.
I couldn't even dial for emergency services if I had to do so.
That's because the cellular system is extremely vulnerable.
Vulnerable to hackers, vulnerable to terrorists, vulnerable to adverse weather conditions like hurricanes.
There's no guarantee that if we had an entire power grid meltdown, shutdown, your cell phone would not work.
Before long, you wouldn't be able to even recharge it.
That's why I went out and got the Iridium 555 satellite phone and the Iridium cell phone service.
You see, Iridium uses a proprietary satellite and literally any place on the planet where you can see the sky, you can both make a call and send a text message.
But the good news is that your phone calls and your text messages are completely and totally secure.
They're encrypted.
They cannot be eavesdropped on.
They cannot be collected by big tech to be resold.
So I really strongly urge you to look into the great deal offered by Iridium because you get the Iridium 955 phone Absolutely free if you sign up for a 24-month service contract that allows you to access their satellite.
That's only $95.95 a month.
That's not much for peace of mind.
You will never be out of touch.
Now you might ask, okay, if the power grid goes down and my Iridium 955 phone works to reach the satellite, How do I recharge it when its battery is low?
And I have the answer.
When you go to sat123.com slash roger, that's sat123.com slash roger, you can not only sign up for your Iridium cell phone satellite service, you can get your free Iridium 955 phone, but at a nominal cost, you can purchase a cellular, pardon me, a solar
Charger, which guarantees that your Iridium 955 phone can be easily recharged.
If we have an upcoming problem, if we have a national crisis in which let's say terrorists shut down the power grid, which the FBI completely keeps telling us is entirely possible, you'll be glad that you have your Iridium 955 phone And service.
These phones are used by the highest levels of the military.
They're used by members of the U.S.
Senate.
They are dependable.
They are affordable.
And they're just smart.
So please, once again, go to sat123.com slash roger to get your Iridium phone service and your amazing Iridium 955 phone immediately.
Thank you.
All right, Troy, we had a tumultuous political weekend.
I don't know where to start.
I saw Jamie Raskin saying yesterday the difference between Biden and Trump is that Trump and his family enriched themselves in the presidency while the Biden family made nothing.
What kind of drugs is this guy on?
Roger, Jamie Raskin is out of his mind and he's delusional.
And look, we have some Jamie Raskin footage.
We can play that now, actually.
Why not?
Just to get an understanding, Roger, of how sleazy Jamie Raskin really is, I went back and I pulled up a video of Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Now, keep in mind, Roger, these are Biden corruption hearings.
We're trying to figure out just how much President Joe Biden earned from the business deals made by Hunter Biden and others, where we've had Devin Archer, Hunter Biden's business partner, come forward and say, our business model was that Joe Biden was vice president.
That's not my words.
It's not the New York Post words.
That's Devin Archer, Hunter Biden's business partner.
And so while we're going through these hearings, it's obviously very important Uh, that we bring up the information in the Hunter Biden laptop, including, uh, the illegal acts that Hunter Biden committed on his, you know, in the images of the laptop.
So let's just play this real quick to give people at home an idea of the kind of sleazebag, uh, that, that Jamie Raskin really is.
Marjorie Taylor Greene shows the laptop images, which by the way, you remember Roger, 51 intelligence agents, uh, came out and said that it was, it was Russian disinformation, the laptop, even though now it's being used in court.
In the house.
So Marjorie Taylor Greene holds up the picture from the laptop and Jamie Raskin immediately freaks out, yelling at her, put that away, we're not showing that in this hearing.
Let's roll that clip.
Jamie Raskin, the scumbag.
And it's marked out.
Point of Parliamentary Inquiry.
Mr. Chairman, thank you kindly, Mr. Chairman.
On July 26th, I sent you a letter about the last time this happened, when the gentlelady introduced before this committee, without any notice to anyone, nude photos, pornographic images that were completely irrelevant to the purpose of the hearing itself.
And my question to you is, are members allowed to simply put up sensationalistic, voyeuristic, pornographic images if they're not relevant to the actual object of the legislative proceeding?
I want a parliamentary ruling on that.
Mr. Askin, that's probably part of the questioning for Mr. Biden, violations of the Ban Act.
Ms.
Greene's led on that issue.
No, no, this is a question of the rules of the committee.
These pictures have already been entered into the record.
So, in other words, you have accepted the idea that members can introduce irrelevant sexually based... How is this irrelevant?
How does it relate to Joe Biden?
How does it relate to... We're not doing a criminal investigation of Hunter Biden.
Point of order, Mr. Chairman.
Point of order.
Absolutely incredible.
As you know, Marco Polo, 501c3, which you can go to at marcopolousa.org, has identified 140 business crimes, 191 sex crimes, and 128 drug crimes, including violations and 128 drug crimes, including violations of the Federal, of the Foreign Agents Registration Act.
So what Jamie Raskin really objects to is the truth being shown.
Yes, this is a congressional investigation into the actions of Hunter Biden.
God bless Marjorie Taylor Greene for having the courage to show the people the truth.
It's the same Jamie Raskin who said yesterday, as I said, that the Trump family enriched themselves while Biden's family made nothing.
According to the subpoenaed bank records of the House Oversight Committee, Hunter, Jim, Sarah, Haley, Biden, plus his grandchildren, plus Joe himself, hauled in over $18 million in foreign sources since hauled in over $18 million in foreign sources since Biden was vice president, including almost $4 million from Ukraine, $7.28 million from China, $3.5 million from Russia, $1.4
$3.5 million from Russia, $1.4 million from Romania, $1.04 million from Panama, $1.17 million from Jamie Raskin goes on to say that Joe Biden is healing the nation.
Joe Biden can't even heal the Democrat Party.
So much for Mr. Raskin.
Let's move on.
Well, Roger, in that vein of really the most odious members of Congress, we have Adam Schiff, a clip of Adam Schiff this weekend, kind of preparing.
I'm not really sure.
I want to get your thoughts on what he's really talking about here, because it seems to me that he's kind of attacking Biden, but he's trying to be nice about it.
And this occurred on NBC's Meet the Press.
So let's roll Adam Schiff on Meet the Press, appearing to throw Joe Biden under the bus, I think, here.
But the performance on the debate stage, I think rightfully raised questions among the American people about whether the president has the vigor To defeat Donald Trump, and this is an existential race.
Given Joe Biden's incredible record, given Donald Trump's terrible record, he should be mopping the floor with Donald Trump.
Joe Biden is running against a criminal.
It should not be even close, and there's only one reason it is close, and that's the President's age.
And what I would say, Kristen, what I would advise the President, is seek out the opinions of people you trust.
He's obviously talked to his family about this, and that's important.
But he should seek out people with some distance and objectivity.
He should seek out pollsters who are not his own pollsters.
He should take a moment to make the best informed judgment.
And if the judgment is run, then run hard and beat that SOB.
It's very clear that he is hedging his bets.
I think this is what you see going on in the Democrat Party.
Again, other than Hunter and Jill and other members of the Biden family, it's hard to identify a constituency within that party that wants Joe to ride this through.
No one believes that he can get through the balance of a campaign without another incident of some kind.
From a strictly political point of view, Of course, politically, I'd prefer to run against Joe Biden.
He's an incapacitated candidate.
On the other hand, I don't like the unknown.
Kamala Harris is stuck with Joe Biden's record.
She is just as complicit in the open borders.
In fact, she was the border czar, remember?
She was going to take care of this problem.
Of course, she did nothing.
She is just as complicit in the fact that we have no peace negotiations going on in Ukraine between the Ukrainians and the Russians.
She is just as complicit in the decision to unfreeze over $100 billion in assets and give them to Iran so that Iran can restart their nuclear weapons development program.
So that Ron can fund terrorism through Hamas and Hezbollah, and most importantly, so Ron can attack our ally Israel.
Kamala Harris is guilty of all those things.
And then additionally, there's the hypocrisy of her own past.
This is a woman who joked about smoking marijuana while listening to Biggie and Tupac.
When they weren't even recording yet when she was in college, they were unknown.
But more precisely, she locked up over 1,500 people for the crime of possession and use of marijuana as a district attorney in Oakland County, which I think is racist in all honesty.
She also, as we know, extended the prison term of certain state prisoners so they could essentially provide free labor For construction projects done by the state of California.
She has an awful lot to answer for.
Now, I know her mentor, Willie Brown.
He's actually a very good friend of mine.
We have one thing in common, and it's not politics.
Willie Brown is one of the best-dressed men in America.
Willie Brown has been on my Stone's Own international well-dressed list, best-dressed For several years.
And he's very clearly responsible for Kamala Harris's political rise.
But I urge you to look carefully at what he says.
He says that she's a shrewd tactical politician.
She's much, much smarter than you think she is.
And according to Willie, she's going to be president.
I would take those words as a word of caution.
Well, and Roger, you worked, we got your quote for a Slingshot News article that I'm happy to report is over a million views just in the last few days here.
When we had the headline, now we can put it up, Roger Stone reveals Kamala Harris will be choosing this Democrat as her running mate.
So in the event that Kamala Harris is chosen here as the eventual successor to President Joe Biden, Roger, you revealed in a tweet in Slingshot News that she's weighing, choosing Josh Shapiro as her running mate.
Now, I wanted to ask you about this specifically to this point, because Shapiro is a very pro-Israel politician.
He's been very anti-pro-Palestine protester.
In fact, he's been, you know, kind of really attacking these hardcore leftist protesters that have been protesting Biden and Harris and at these universities across the country.
Do you think that it's a wrong move for Kamala Harris to pick somebody like a Shapiro?
Do you think that she would benefit from choosing somebody that appeals to the more radical?
I would we call him the Palestinian faction of the Democrat Party at this point Do you think that it's necessary for the Democrats to bring that in?
Well, first of all, let me clear the air on my prediction about Michelle Obama, because I think it's still important.
The more chaotic things get in the Democrat Party, the worse things that look, the greater the chances that she may yet be drafted.
So I have not abandoned the second part of my two-part prediction.
Part one was that Joe Biden would not run for reelection.
Part two was that an open convention, a runaway open convention, would select the most popular Democrat in the country, and probably potentially the strongest candidate against Donald Trump, and that would be Michelle Obama.
So no, I haven't abandoned that prediction.
That is still entirely possible.
It's conceivable I will be right about the first half of my prediction, that Joe Biden will not be the nominee, but wrong about the second part.
In which case, yes, Kamala Harris would then therefore move to the presidential nomination.
That would allow her to select a vice presidential running mate.
I have argued that the logical candidate for that, and my Democrat sources tell me this is being discussed, is Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.
Why Shapiro?
Well, because it would alter the map.
Pennsylvania, very definitely one of the key swing states that Donald Trump won in 2016, lost in 2020 and must regain in 2021.
Nominating Shapiro, it is said, would help assure victory in Pennsylvania.
Well, First of all, he is widely disliked by Catholics in that state.
He's got some corruption issues and some COVID handling issues of his own.
But generally speaking, I do think that if Kamala Harris were to emerge as the nominee, she would probably look to one of the governors.
I'm not sure about an all-woman ticket.
I think that might be a bit much.
Obviously, if Kamala Harris took Hillary Clinton for vice president and they were elected, Kamala Harris would need a food taster.
I wouldn't be very secure sleeping at night if I were a President Kamala Harris, God forbid.
So Gretchen Whitmer is also a possibility.
I would argue that Shapiro would bring her the same thing that Gavin Newsom would bring, But without the controversy.
Shapiro doesn't have so much controversy around his personal life, about his record in California.
Let's face it, California has become one big outdoor latrine.
It's very sad.
You know, Troy, my wife and I, back when I had money, prior to the Mueller witch hunt virtually destroying me and my family, we used to rent a house in Venice Beach or in Santa Monica.
For a month, every summer, go to the beach, kind of enjoy the culture in Southern California.
I wouldn't even consider doing that today.
How do you take a state that has a near-perfect climate year-round, only to essentially destroy it, where it is rife with crime and drugs and homelessness and people, let's face it, defecating in the streets?
So, you don't have that with a Shapiro.
Shapiro brings you a major state.
The Democrats are likely to win California anyway, but Pennsylvania is still very definitely a toss-up.
So, look, we shall see, and it's all speculation.
I don't pretend to understand the Democrat nominating process nearly as well as I do the Republican process, but I do think If the president is wise, and he is, he will not name his vice presidential running mate until we have some clarification of who the Democrat nominee will be.
I had Senator Robert Torricelli, the former Democrat U.S.
Senator from New Jersey, on my 77 WABC radio show this weekend.
We're going to post that audio on X shortly.
Also be available at StoneZone.com.
Excellent analysis of what's going on inside the Democrat Party.
Well, Roger, we have breaking news this morning as far as the Democrat nomination process is concerned.
We actually have a letter that was sent to all congressional Democrats from Joseph Biden this morning, President Joe Biden.
We're going to put that letter up and I'm going to read at least part of this here.
Now, basically, this letter is stating that he's not going to go away.
It's stating I'm going to pick up somewhere down in the bottom here.
This was a process open to anyone who wanted to run.
Only three people chose to challenge me.
One fared so badly that he left the primaries to run as an independent.
Another attacked me for being too old and soundly defeated.
The voters of the Democratic Party have failed or they have voted and they have chosen me to be the nominee of their party.
Do we now just say this process didn't matter, that the votes don't have a say?
I declined to do that.
I have a deep obligation to the faith and trust of the voters of the Democratic Party have placed in me to run this year.
It was their decision to make.
Not the press.
Not the pundits.
Not the big donors.
Not any selected group of individuals, no matter how well-intentioned.
The voters, and the voters alone, decide the nominee of the Democratic Party.
How can we stand for democracy in our nation if we ignore it in our own party?
I cannot do that, and I will not do that.
Down below it goes, more importantly, we have an economic vision to run on that soundly beats Trump and the MAGA Republicans.
They are siding with the wealthy and the big corporations, and we are siding with the working people of America.
It wasn't an isolated moment for Trump to stand at Mar-a-Lago and tell the oil industry that they should give him $1 billion and he will do whatever they want.
The letter continues and at the bottom here at the last page it says, My fellow Democrats, we have the record, the vision, and the fundamental commitment to America's freedoms and our democracy to win.
The question of how to move forward has been well aired for over a week now, and it's time for it to end.
We have one job, and that is to beat Donald Trump.
We have 42 days to the Democratic Convention and 119 days to the general election.
Any weakening of resolve or lack of clarity...
about the task ahead only helps Trump and hurts us.
It's time to come together, move forward as a unified party, and defeat Donald Trump.
So, Roger, really interested to get your reaction to that letter that was sent to every congressional Democrat today, an emphatic statement by President Biden, I think.
Well, here's the point that is, of course, missing.
He won an election by successfully hiding his infirmity.
He used COVID-19 to spend most of his time in the basement.
The American people saw very little of the real Joe Biden.
Despite everything he says, the idea of another debate—and by the way, Trump and Biden have already agreed to a September 10th debate with ABC.
You notice you see no discussion of that whatsoever.
I don't know any Democrat who wouldn't be holding his breath if Joe Biden underwent another debate.
His excuses in this tour, starting with George Stephanopoulos, have been pathetic.
He actually said that one of the things that distracted him during the debate was the fact that Donald Trump kept shouting at him after they shut Trump's microphone off.
Go back and look at a video of the entire debate.
That never happened one time.
Donald Trump did not seek to speak over him, not even once.
So this guy can't stop lying when telling the truth would be a lot easier or when his lie is so easily checked.
I have said he's an enormously stubborn person.
He's always been stubborn, even before he had the onset of senile dementia.
And he's got Jill and Hunter.
Hunter, who's looking at some long-term prison and hoping, therefore, I would think, for a pardon, propping him up.
It's going to be very hard to get him out of there.
Yet they may find themselves saddled with a candidate whose performance during the campaign just gets progressively worse and worse.
The Democrats are between a rock and a proverbial hard place, and this is by no means decided.
A very high-level Democrat I spoke to this morning, when I asked him, does Biden survive?
He said, ruefully, 50-50, 50-50.
I think that's where we are.
That's that is really unbelievable, Roger.
And on the tail of this breaking news of this letter, we actually have some clips of Biden appearing on Morning Joe this morning, kind of echoing the statements of people were really criticizing this appearance, saying that the president sounded senile, he was screaming.
So let's let's roll all those clips together of President Biden this morning on Morning Joe.
The American public is not going to move away from me as the average voter.
And again, I'm here for two reasons, pal.
One, to rebuild the economy for hard-working middle-class people.
Give everybody a shot.
Just a straight shot.
Everybody gets a fair chance.
Number one.
Number two.
Remember all this talk about how I don't have the black support?
Come on.
Give me a break.
Come with me.
Watch.
Watch.
I'm getting so frustrated by the elite.
Now, I'm not talking about you guys, but about the elite in the party, who they know so much more.
If any of these guys don't think I should run against me, go ahead, announce the president.
Challenge me at the convention.
The Biden plan, which got in Israel, for the Gaza Strip, is something that was adopted by the U.N.
Security Council.
Whether it comes to fruition, it's awful close.
We'll see.
G7.
I'm not going to explain any more about what I should or shouldn't do.
I am running.
I am running.
Bottom line here is that we're not going anywhere.
I am not going anywhere.
I wouldn't be running if I didn't absolutely believe that I am the best candidate to beat Donald Trump in 2024.
Roger, your thoughts on that bombshell interview this morning?
Well, first of all, he's reading.
a million of those votes, et cetera.
So I just want, I'm not only believe that from the beginning, but I wanted to reassert and demonstrate that it's true.
And I'm going to be doing that all through this week and from here on. - Roger, your thoughts on that bombshell interview this morning? - Well, first of all, he's reading.
Notice they don't have him on camera, so we can't see how bad he looks and he's reading.
Look, even dementia patients, my mother had it, my grandmother had it, they have good days and bad days.
They have more lucid days and they have days in which they are out of it.
But he was reading talking points in an effort to bluff those who are asking him to leave into stopping.
No one's going to challenge him at the convention.
People tell me that over 50% of the delegates to the convention are non-white.
Almost a third of them belong to the most radical left-wing labor unions.
If you throw this to an open convention and he were challenged by Michelle Obama, he would lose.
Probably the one candidate who could defeat him.
They clearly intend to try to gut this through.
Donald Trump, generally speaking, has spoken to that maxim that is attributed to Napoleon, who said, never interrupt your enemy when they are in the process of destroying themselves.
But then he did one smart thing over the weekend, which was to challenge Joe Biden to more debates.
Let's have another debate.
Let's have a wide open debate.
No moderators, no rules, two podiums, two microphones, you and I, mano a mano.
So if Joe Biden is so full of bravado, let him accept that challenge.
I won't be holding my breath.
The one thing the Democrats have been united about, even when they admit that Joe Biden's debate performance was abysmal, and by the way, more than half of them were not surprised because they knew that he was in this condition, is this constant barrage that Trump is a liar.
Trump is going to put reporters in front of firing squads.
Trump has endorsed all the precepts of Project 2025.
Which is not Agenda 47, his official campaign policy manifesto.
They continue to do two things at once.
They fight among themselves about whether Joe Biden is around the bend.
After all, he met with the Democrat governors.
He said his health was perfect, except for his brain.
And then they go right back to the attack, accusing Donald Trump of everything they're doing.
Amazing clip this weekend of Kamala Harris actually saying, if Donald Trump is elected, he will weaponize the Justice Department against his political opponents.
Can you imagine?
How can anybody have less self-awareness?
Unless of course she's fully aware of what she's doing.

Mrs. Stone and I like to turn the air conditioning down.
How about the, there, look at that fella.
These look amazing.

I can't say enough about the absorbent nature of the towels that Mike Lindell sells.
You see, the towels that you get in department stores or online are coated with an oil that while it may make the towel more resilient, it may last longer, it makes it far, far less absorbent.
So here's a concept for you, a bath towel that actually dries you off after your bath or shower.
Again, great prices on those right now at mypillow.com.
Mike Lindell's bed sheets, the famous Giza bed sheets, the most luxurious cotton you can find anyplace.
So do yourself a favor and help us out here at Stone's Own because, yes, we need your support.
Go to MyPillow.com and when you do, use promo code STONE.
Thank you.
All right, Troy, it seems like the time just goes like that.
We've got a lot more politics to talk about, but we'll be back here in this same space tomorrow.
So until then, God bless you and Godspeed.
A man who's gone through hell, but he's kept going and he's smart and he's strong and people love him.
