*music* You know what?
dave rubin
I think we need just like a little bit more of that.
Can we throw back to that?
This is the Rubin Report.
It is January 15th, 2025. Ladies and gentlemen, we are five days away from ending the national nightmare that is the geriatric man with dementia who brought us to the precipice of destruction.
And ushering in number 47, who also was number 45, Donald Trump.
We will be there, by the way.
I'll have more information probably tomorrow and on Friday on this.
But yes, I will be at inauguration with the team.
We've got the Rumble Studios in D.C. We'll be on location at inauguration doing a whole bunch of events, interviews, live streams.
We'll hopefully do a show.
Maybe from the grounds there, plus the studio one.
We're figuring out all of that.
There's a whole bunch of moving parts.
But it's a very exciting time in America.
There's a lot going on.
There's a lot of bad stuff going on, too.
Everything happening in SoCal right now, of course.
But at least at the political level.
Things are about to change quite significantly.
I'm very excited for today's show because in about 10 minutes or so, America's mayor, Rudy Giuliani, will be joining us.
And I texted Rudy yesterday and I asked him if he could join because I was thinking about him a lot in the last five or six days as we've watched this complete and utter...
Disaster that is the leadership of California from Gavin Newsom to Karen Bass, the mayor of Los Angeles, and really across the board from the people they've hired, just mismanagement and the buck stops with nobody and the constant shell game.
Nobody knows who did what or when they did it or why they did it or anything else.
And the budget cuts that led to this and not taking care of the forests properly and making sure the brush was clear, all of these things.
So I was thinking a lot about Rudy because I lived in New York City.
As you guys know, during 9-11.
And I know what competent leadership is in a time of crisis.
And as I always say, the quote from DeSantis, decline is a choice.
California has chosen to decline, but you don't have to choose that.
And you don't have to always be in decline.
You can be in decline and choose to get out of decline.
And I thought that today would be a perfect day to bring on Rudy, compare and contrast what's going on in California with the way he led New York and what proper leadership.
Maybe Gavin's tuning into the show today over at his Lizard Castle in Sacramento.
And maybe he can watch the show today and learn a little bit about leadership.
So Rudy Giuliani will be joining us in about 10 minutes.
And I just want to do one segment to start getting you caught up on everything in terms of confirmation hearings.
Marco Rubio is being he's being grilled by the Senate.
These are very serious people.
He's being grilled right now.
But Pete Hegseth was the big one yesterday.
And first, let's a little compilation of some of the incredible, they happen...
To be mostly women, not all women, but what's a woman, really?
Democrat senators going after Pete.
Here's a little compilation.
Take a look.
unidentified
By enforcing the Uniform Code of Military Justice, UCMJ, in addition to the sexual assault allegations, and by the way, the answer to my second question should have been yes.
I have read multiple reports of your regularly being drunk at work.
Including by people who worked with you at Fox News.
Do you know that being drunk at work is prohibited for service members under the UCMJ? Senator, those are multiple false anonymous reports peddled by NBC News.
Everything you've said in these public statements is politics.
I don't want women.
pete hegseth
I don't want moms.
unidentified
What's wrong with a mom, by the way?
Once you have babies, you therefore are no longer able to be lethal?
I mean, you're basically saying women, after they have children, can't ever serve in the military in a combat role.
It's a silly thing to say.
It's a silly thing to say.
rudy giuliani
Well, by the way, would you explain what a jag-off is?
pete hegseth
I don't think I need to, sir.
rudy giuliani
Why not?
pete hegseth
Because the men and women watching understand.
unidentified
Well, perhaps some of my colleagues don't understand.
pete hegseth
It would be a JAG officer who puts his or her own priorities in front of the warfighters.
tim kaine
Can you so casually cheat on a second wife and cheat on the mother of a child that had been born two months before, and you tell us you were completely cleared?
How is that a complete clear?
pete hegseth
Senator, her child's name is Gwendolyn Hope Hegseth, and she's a child of God, and she's seven years old.
tim kaine
I'm glad she's here.
And you cheated on the mother of that child less than two months after that daughter was born, didn't you?
pete hegseth
Those were false charges?
It was fully investigated, and I was completely clear.
elizabeth warren
In other words, you're quite sure that every general who serves should not go directly into the defense industry for 10 years?
unidentified
You're not willing to make that same pledge?
pete hegseth
I'm not a general, Senator.
unidentified
You'll be the one!
dave rubin
All right.
So that's just a small selection of what happened yesterday.
It already does look like Hegseth is going to be confirmed.
We'll have more on that in just a second.
But that really is a good summation of what this was.
Hegseth is qualified.
He is a good communicator.
He's ready to go.
You know, this nonsense.
We are so past this nonsense about what people did in their personal lives years ago.
No one's defending anyone that...
If anyone cheated or anything else, I'm not even talking about headset here.
Everyone's got skeletons in their closet.
As long as you didn't do something highly illegal or something like that, that's not really what these confirmation hearings are supposed to be about.
The confirmation hearings are supposed to be about, are you qualified for the job?
What is your vision?
And will you help execute the mission that the president...
Lays out in front of you.
That's really all this is supposed to be about.
So you have these people, Tim Kaine, going on about the ex-wife.
And it's like, dude, you were campaigning with the Democrats, with Kamala Harris's husband, who cheated with the nanny, and Bill Clinton, who's a rapist, and all of this stuff.
Everyone's over that.
The nonsense about him being an alcoholic.
Also, there's just no evidence of it.
I think something like 18 of his Fox News colleagues have all come out saying that they've been working with him for over a decade and they've never seen him drunk.
I mentioned that a couple months ago, I was doing Gutfeld one night in New York City, and I was having dinner right next door to the studios at Del Frisco's, and I saw Pete sitting at the bar.
He was sitting alone at the bar eating dinner, and I walked up to him.
We chatted for a few minutes, and I offered to buy him a drink, and he's like, oh, I'm not drinking right now.
And it's like, how many people that are raging alcoholics would sit at a bar and not drink, right?
Of course, that's anecdotal, but you get it.
So everything they're doing is just for the show.
It's nonsense.
Beautiful moment there where he turns on Elizabeth Warren, who's just terrible.
But if we haven't illustrated the sort of harpiness and hysterics enough, here's a 12 or so second compilation that I think kind of nailed it.
unidentified
Yes or no did you get an audit?
Yes or no did you get an audit?
Yes or no did you get an audit?
Yes or no did you get an audit?
Yes or no did you get an audit?
Do you not know this answer?
Yes or no did you get an audit?
pete hegseth
Yes or no did you get an audit?
dave rubin
Yes or no did you get an audit?
That really does illustrate something.
I think this is the part that we're all kind of getting over.
We want competent people in government.
Do you think Pete Hegseth is competent and qualified or not?
And we're over the theatrics.
We're over the attacks.
Like, you only have to think back to, gosh, it's six years ago already, which is kind of nuts.
It's almost over six years ago when they were trying to confirm Brett Kavanaugh as the Supreme Court Justice.
And if you remember, he was the biggest serial rapist of all time and he hates women and he's gonna...
And all of these things.
And it was all just absolute nonsense.
And I think Hegseth is a real threat to them.
Because of two things.
It's the competency and the ability to communicate, right?
This is a TV host who can communicate.
He can look in the camera and he can stand in front of the microphone and actually say something in a way that people are going to respond to.
Do we have an example of that?
pete hegseth
Because everybody in this room knows if you're a rifleman and you lose your rifle, they're throwing the book at you.
But if you're a general who loses a war, you get a promotion.
That's not going to happen in Donald Trump's Pentagon.
There will be real standards for success.
Everyone from the top, from the most senior general to the most lowly private, will ensure that they're treated fairly, men and women, inside that system.
A small handful of anonymous sources were allowed to drive a smear campaign and agenda about me because our left-wing media in America today, sadly, doesn't care about the truth.
All they were out to do, Mr. Chairman, was to destroy me.
And why do they want to destroy me?
Because I'm a change agent and a threat to them, because Donald Trump was willing to choose me to empower me to bring the Defense Department back to what it really should be, which is warfighting.
dave rubin
So you get it.
Qualified because of his track record.
But then with this bonus thing.
He speaks clearly.
He looks good.
He's kind of smiling as he does it.
He turns to the crowd.
He knows how to do the show.
Over the years, I've been to several Fox Nation Patriot Awards that he hosts.
He's quite a good host.
Like, he gets the show part of it, and much of this is a show, right?
What am I always talking about?
Kayfabe.
The idea that we're all sort of in this WWE thing right now, having these emotions about a largely scripted reality that's playing out in front of us every day.
So that's really why they're going after him.
But it does look like he will get confirmed.
Here's Senate Majority Leader John Thune saying just that.
unidentified
I asked Senator John Thune, who is the Republican leader, the majority leader, decides the schedule of the United States Senate.
I asked him about Hexeth's nomination.
Thune has not said a ton about this nomination.
I said, does he have any concerns about these allegations of sexual assault that Hexeth has denied but came up in today's hearing about these allegations of misconduct and the like?
And he indicated he does not.
According to Thune, he said that that Hexeth acquitted himself extremely well and that he plans to move very quickly on this nomination.
And it is moving quickly.
We expect the Senate Armed Services Committee to have a vote as soon as Monday, inauguration day.
That is according to the chairman of the committee, Roger Wicker, who told me that he believes that he'll get the support of all Republicans and be able to push this through.
All right.
dave rubin
So it does look like he's getting through it.
It looks like virtually everybody is going to get through.
Obviously, Gates was the one that pulled out way back when.
No pun intended, but Gates obviously won't be part of the administration.
But everyone else, it looks like, pretty much will get through.
And again, these hearings are not supposed to be the dog and pony show they've become.
If you go back, and it really was, people don't believe it, but it really was.
It was Joe Biden, I think in 1988, during the Supreme Court hearings, that turned these things largely into the circus that they are.
They're not supposed to be a circus.
It's just...
Supposed to be, is there something glaring?
Is this guy a freaking Chinese agent?
Are there actual dead bodies in the closet?
But everyone that goes up there that is a threat to them, it's always about sexual harassment and all the usual stuff.
Yesterday we showed you an image during Pete Hegseth's confirmation hearing.
These are the code pink people.
These are like the most awful, horrible, brain-dead, socialist...
Lunatics.
And they're very upset about Pete Hegseth's Christian jihad.
Look at this clown.
Look at these people.
These pathetic losers.
But of course they are there exercising their right to free speech.
It's a little bizarre to me that like everyone knows they're gonna come in there and protest and they dress like this and they scream their nonsense.
And is anyone allowed to walk in there?
Why can't I go in there with a sign?
You know?
I'm gonna go in there with a sign for one of these things.
Anyway, they're interrupting, as always, and this just happened right before we went on air.
This is Rubio, who everyone knows is gonna sail by.
I mean, the guy's unbelievably qualified.
He's a great communicator.
He's been a fine senator.
I think it also, by bringing Rubio in, it also illustrates that Trump is doing a Y10 thing because he and Trump were...
You know, oppositional when they both ran for president way back when.
But here they are.
They're just losers.
Sorry, not sorry.
They're just losers.
marco rubio
Alliances emerged in the Indo-Pacific and Europe that led to the emergence of stability and democracy and prosperity in these regions.
unidentified
You've had forever more ever since.
dave rubin
Little Mark, I'll keep your hands.
unidentified
Oh, American, country and class, you've got to move over.
I dropped my phone.
chamath palihapitiya
I didn't get it.
unidentified
My phone was stopped.
Thank you.
Back to order.
dave rubin
The reason I'm showing you that is these things are going to continue to happen.
But I think as America levels up, which is about what's going to happen.
What's going to happen?
It's like on the horizon now, about five days away.
As we level up, and we get more competent governance, and we bring in better people to fix the institutions, and we get rid of some of the departments and all of these things, and as the mainstream media crumbles, there's so many things happening at once right now, right?
We're in this actual state of renewal, I would say.
We're in a state of...
We're absolutely in a state of flux, but we're in this incredible state of opportunity.
What we're going to have to realize is, yeah, you can...
No one's saying these people can't protest and, you know, you shouldn't really be, you know, you can't really use your speech to stifle someone else's speech.
I don't know the exact mechanism that they have in there to take people out and everything else.
But I think people are just largely over this nonsense, right?
This, like, childish group and almost in every case they are these wackadoodle progressives who just want to scream and ruin everything.
These are the same people who are out there with Antifa burning down cities.
They're the same people out there with Hamas and Hezbollah flags threatening people.
And I think we're all just kind of over it.
And I think the more that we all kind of...
Embrace that, like, we're just over it with you people, the more that they will go away.
And that will be one of the many strengths of this new cultural moment that we're coming into.
I do want to get to one other thing real quick before we bring on America's Mayor, because there's some other good news, and this is all the Trump effect.
Remember, the Trump effect.
It's this idea that just by the force of Donald Trump becoming president, we're seeing things get better across verticals right now.
Check this out from NBC News.
The Food and Drug Administration said Wednesday it's banning the use of Red No.
3, a synthetic dye that gives food and drinks their bright red cherry color, but has been linked to cancer in animals.
The dye is still used in thousands of foods, including candy, cereals, cherries and fruit cocktails, and strawberry-flavored milkshakes, according to the Center for Science and Public Interest, a food safety advocacy group that petitioned the agency in 2022 to end its use.
The FDA's decision marks a victory for consumer advocacy groups and some U.S. lawmakers who have long urged the FDA to revoke the additive's approval, citing ample evidence that its use in beverages, dietary supplements, cereals, and candies may cause cancer as well as affect children's behavior.
At long last, the FDA is ending the regulatory paradox of Red 3 being illegal for use in lipstick but perfectly legal to feed children in the form of candy, said Dr. The FDA cannot authorize a food additive or color additive if it
has not been found to cause cancer in human or animals.
Jim Jones, the FDA's Deputy Director for Human Foods, said in a statement, F, D, and C, red number three, red dye number three, approved for use in foods in 1907, is made from petroleum.
Okay, that was a lot of reading there, but I want to just, the reason I wanted to get that out before we bring on the mayor is because this is what's happening.
Bobby Kennedy was running as a Democrat.
He tried to get through the Democrat machine.
They tried to destroy him.
He started talking about health at the exact same time.
And then what happened?
This alliance between Donald Trump MAGA and Bobby Kennedy MAHA, Make America Healthy Again, has come together.
They have put their political differences aside, and they absolutely are political differences.
Differences.
They've put them aside so that we can start looking at why we are literally giving our children poison.
You know, Bobby did that video, it was about six, seven months ago, talking about red number dye in Froot Loops and why it's in American Froot Loops, but not in the Froot Loops that we put in the UK and overseas.
Why is that?
What have we been doing?
Why did we get red dye out of lipstick, but we still let kids put it in cereal?
There's a million other, you know, we have young kids.
Feed them extremely well.
And we're keeping sugar out and all of these dyes and seed oils and all these things.
You can make a cake, a homemade cake, and not use all these dyes.
There's other ways to...
You can crush up cherries and put things in there.
Like, there's so many ways to get color out of things.
We've used pea protein, I think, to turn things some color.
So anyway, that's the point of all that.
I want to bring on America's Mayor in just a second.
But first, let's talk about Live Good.
Hey everyone, let's talk about something we all know we should be doing but often overlook.
Taking care of our health with the right supplements.
But here's the thing.
Why are so many supplement companies charging insane prices for products that really aren't anything special?
That's where LiveGood comes in.
A brand that's completely shaking up the supplement industry and I'm here for it.
What makes LiveGood so different?
They're cutting out the middleman, so you're getting premium, high-quality products at a fraction of the price.
I'm talking about products formulated by some of the best natural health experts in the industry.
Whether you're looking for organic super greens, multivitamins, collagen, weight-loss products, protein powder, creatine, detox, hormone products, or even skincare, LiveGood has you covered.
All at prices that make sense.
It's no wonder they've already gained over 1.5 million customers and are the fastest-growing supplement brand out there.
So here's the deal.
Don't wait to level up your health.
Go to livegood.com/rubin to get 10% off your first order.
Once again, that's livegood.com/rubin to get 10% off your first order.
Take the first step to feeling your best with the high-quality products at the lowest prices.
All right.
With no further ado, let me bring on a man who needs no introduction, America's mayor, my friend Rudy Giuliani.
Mr. Mayor, how are you?
rudy giuliani
I'm good, Dave.
How are you?
dave rubin
I'm doing well.
I am particularly glad and appreciative that you came on on such short notice because obviously the whole country right now is focused on what's going on in California.
And I'm doing these stories about Gavin and these stories about Karen Bass and the incompetence and just the multi layers of failings of the California government.
And of course, that always stands in stark contrast to you and the way you ran New York City.
And I thought before I even let you chime in, I want to...
I'm going to throw back to a video shortly after 9-11.
This is you talking about what proper governance and leadership actually is.
unidentified
Let's shift gears for a moment.
Tell me what is your philosophy of leadership?
So many people are admiring your leadership just now.
I think that you have to, I think there's a couple of things.
You have to lead by example.
You have to be honest.
You got to be willing to work as hard as the people that you're asking to work with you and not be removed from them.
I'm here on behalf of a very grateful and very admiring city to tell each and every one of you how proud we are of you and saying how proud we are of the innocent men and women who were going about their lives seeking their part of the
American dream when their lives were cut short by the act of cowardly terrorists and how proud we are of all of you who have come here to rescue them and return as many of them as we can to their loved ones.
dave rubin
Mr. Mayor, there are quite literally hours and hours, probably hundreds if not thousands of hours of speeches you gave, eulogies you gave, all of those things.
Everyone knows I was in New York City during 9-11 and amidst the chaos there was this one man leading us that kind of made it feel a little less terrible.
Can you talk a little bit about We've discussed this before, but if you could just talk a little bit about how you felt your role as the mayor in a crisis, what it should be, how some of your previous work experience led to that, and maybe contrast that a bit with what you're seeing now.
rudy giuliani
Well, I think the first thing is the performance that you're going to have.
How many mock drills have you had?
Particularly in a complicated place like California, where it's multi-jurisdictional.
In other words, in New York, I had one police department for 8 million people, 41,000 police officers, one fire department.
Here, as you know, Los Angeles is divided into a group of different cities, so they all have to work together, and they have to be Well coordinated.
I think that worked pretty well here.
But you don't see it.
Because of two things that are completely unexplainable and criminal in my view.
The fire hydrants didn't have water.
I've never heard of that.
I mean, I probably was involved in 500 fires in New York and we helped with 200 others.
I mean, maybe one fire hydrant.
But fire hydrants?
I mean, I was listening on the first day.
Like Caruso, the guy who ran, he's standing there with a fire.
The hydrant has no water in it.
And she leaves to go to Ghana, knowing there's going to be an emergency, leaving instructions behind, and never thinks to check the fire hydrants.
You regularly check fire hydrants, oh my goodness, at least once a month.
Firefighters do it for their own safety.
That's number one.
Number two is the overall lack of water in that area of the state, which is a deliberate decision of Gavin Newsom.
He actually restricts the amount of water there in order to save smelt fish, some kind of a plant that I never heard of, and other environmental voodoo.
As a result of that, I would guess you've got in that area half the water that you would need to fight really big fires.
unidentified
This was a fire for the ages.
rudy giuliani
And maybe even if they had all the water they should have, it would have been tough.
unidentified
But you'd have half the casualties, half the damage.
rudy giuliani
Those are the two main things that drove this to the point of...
Probably the worst managed fire incident in the history of this country.
dave rubin
Yeah, I do want to mention to everybody, we're having a little trouble with your video feed, so there's a still image up right now, but we're working on that.
But let me just throw to a video that addresses exactly one of the two things you just mentioned there regarding the hydrants and the reservoirs and how they were cutting water.
Here's Gavin Newsom basically blaming Elon and Trump for misinformation as it pertains to the reservoir, and then we'll show you the truth.
unidentified
What's not, I think, helpful or beneficial.
It's a string of consciousness.
These wild-eyed fantasies that somehow the state water project, we have reservoirs that are at or near historic highs, full, completely full.
That somehow there's a magical spigot in California, in Northern California, that just can be turned on and all of a sudden there will be rain or water flowing everywhere.
It's not helpful.
It's damaging to the very foundation of the notion of what What are facts?
What are truths?
And the fact of that asymmetry, that's profound and consequential, amplified by people like, let's be candid, Elon Musk and others.
And that one-two punch is real.
And it's not just about this fire.
And as are here occurring forced winds of mis- and disinformation that can divide a country on a myriad of issues, this is serious.
dave rubin
Okay, so while he's blaming Trump and Elon for misinformation, he's actually sharing misinformation right there, because check out this community note, which was put on that very video right there via CBS News.
He just said the reservoirs were filled.
The reservoir near the Palisades Fire was in fact shut down and empty.
This is a fact, and you guys can check that link for yourself.
Governor, his ability, or Mr. Mayor, his ability to lie.
To just get up there and kick the can down the road and seemingly never take a bit of that look in the mirror and say, maybe I should have done some of this.
It's staggering, isn't it?
rudy giuliani
Yeah.
Take your breath away.
Particularly in the light of an emergency this big.
We're used to politicians lying.
I'm particularly used to him lying.
He lies all the time on small things, big things.
But there's a certain something that happens to you if you're a person of conscience when something bigger than you happens, like 9-11, for example.
And you realize no politics.
No room for it.
No room for lying.
This is no room for exaggerating.
I've got to be honest with people to get their trust so I can get the best out of this.
We're going to lose people.
Let's keep it the minimum.
By lying, this guy makes things much, much worse.
Even in the days that he had here, he could have gotten a lot more help from other states.
Remember, Biden is the president.
Why the hell is the federal government not helping him more?
If he wants to lay it off on the federal government, the federal government has been Joe Biden for the last four years.
So, I mean, the buck stops with him.
dave rubin
I also just can't imagine.
I can't imagine you during a crisis blaming either the media or saying, oh, we'll find out more information about that or something like that.
Like you would have said, this falls on me, we're going to do it.
Can you talk a little bit about your philosophy when it came to being able to message publicly, but then have to also do the work to make sure that the people that had to fix things could do it?
Those are kind of two separate jobs.
rudy giuliani
I mean, first thing, what you said originally is very important.
You lose trust, you can't guide people through an emergency.
And he lost trust immediately.
So you've got to tell him the truth.
And second, where there is a mistake or a problem, you've got to fix it.
You've got to be on your way to fix it when you locate it.
So let's say you say a reservoir isn't full.
Well, you've got to be saying, well, I contacted Nevada, and I contacted Oregon, and I contacted the federal government, and they're bringing in water to make up for that.
Just don't say, oh, gee, we don't have a reservoir that has water in it in a place that every reservoir should be full to the brim.
When you have a problem, you have to have a solution when you explain the problem to the people.
dave rubin
So how did you decide, okay, I have to be able to message that properly and be honest with the people, but I also have to do the work of making sure that the proper people are doing the proper jobs?
Those seem like two different things.
There's one which is comforting people and communicating, and then there's one actually doing the work to make sure that the fire hydrants are filled, the reservoirs are filled, whatever you had to deal with, making sure that police and first responders during 9-11 were able to do their work.
rudy giuliani
We have to work 36 hours a day.
I mean, you have to stretch the day.
You also have to have a very good staff.
You're going to look, I mean, I would often say when people would praise me, I would say, gee, you know, I'm standing on the shoulder of giants here.
I mean, I know that my people were superb.
I knew what I could get out of them.
I knew if I told them, look, you've got to take care of the traffic routes because the ambulances are having a hard time getting in.
When I got in front of a camera two hours later, Rudy Washington was getting that done.
I didn't even have to go back and ask.
So it does mean having a very, very large group, a team that's worked with each other, trusts each other, and really works.
I mean, really, unfortunately, a lot of our governments, and I will say progressive democratic governments, are made up of people who don't do any work.
They're foolish dreamers, and the practicality of government just means nothing to them.
So you don't have, I don't, I look at California government, I look at the Los Angeles government, and because of lack of leadership, it doesn't perform.
unidentified
So lack of leadership.
dave rubin
Well, lack of leadership.
rudy giuliani
Leadership means picking good people.
Training them, rewarding them on merit, not DEI. I can't imagine what damage DEI did to the fire department.
My goodness.
dave rubin
Yeah, there's just no doubt.
You have finite time and resources, and if you start caring about skin color or sexuality, you are degrading the service.
It's as simple as that.
You mentioned the federal aid, and I wanted to show you this video.
I thought this was interesting.
Kevin O'Leary of Shark Tank is basically now saying that California should not get any federal aid until they get rid of Newsom and Bass.
kevin oleary
Give me 30 seconds.
And Bass.
I think every taxpayer in America, including those in California, would like to tie this aid to removing Newsom and Bass.
Now.
Gone.
Part of the deal would be, and I know Trump likes new ideas, here's one, not a dime until those two are whacked from their jobs immediately.
They are so incompetent, and all of the decisions they've made led to this, and they're still making mistakes.
Their horrific managers whack them.
dave rubin
What do you make of that, Mr. Mayor?
I mean, tying aid to getting rid of them.
There's something nice about it.
I don't want to punish the people who, you know, even if you voted for them, I don't want you to be punished in a time of disaster.
But there's something there.
rudy giuliani
There is.
It's absolutely right.
Probably it's the difference between business and government, right?
They are elected officials.
There is a process to remove them.
I don't think extortion is a way to do it.
It sounds like Biden and the first thing that revealed is criminality.
You won't get the billion dollars unless you get rid of the prosecutor.
The reality is, for better or worse, you've got to work with them for the good of the people of California and put the emphasis on people remembering this and people...
I mean, why not do a recall on him?
It worked with, wasn't it Governor Gray?
dave rubin
Yeah, it was.
rudy giuliani
I've forgotten his name.
dave rubin
Gray Davis, right?
rudy giuliani
Yeah, he got recalled.
And that was over budget balance.
This is much worse than that.
I mean, this is life and death.
dave rubin
Yeah, well, they tried to recall him once.
It didn't work, unfortunately.
rudy giuliani
Yeah, he has proved himself to be a dangerous public official.
A man who costs lives because of his, whatever you want to say, incompetence, ideology, combination of both, lack of character.
I don't know what they all are.
I know the end result is people died that shouldn't have died if you had a reasonably competent, common-sense governor of either party or any party.
dave rubin
Let me ask you one other thing about competent governance, and then I want to just, we'll do a couple other segments together on some of the other things happening in the world as it relates to the Trump effect.
But going from California to New York for a moment, the city that you still live in.
You know, obviously between the amount of crime on the subway now and the Sanctuary City stuff and all of the images, you know, people literally, a woman being burned alive on the subway, all the things that everyone's seeing now.
Every day on Twitter, I see the rumors that they'd love Rudy to be the mayor again.
Any chance?
rudy giuliani
No.
Actually, I didn't make a big deal about the city.
But I left New York.
And as of January 1st of this year, I'm a resident of Florida.
dave rubin
Oh, I knew you were doing, like, the snowbird thing.
Well, welcome to the free state of Florida.
rudy giuliani
All my neighbors are New Yorkers, so I feel like I'm still in New York.
But, I mean, the reality is New York is a disaster, but not a singular disaster.
It fits in with a large group of, I would say, older American cities with long-term Democrat corrupt management that are falling apart in one way or another.
The common denominator being a massive amount of crime.
And they usually have Soros-selected district attorneys who literally put criminals back out on the street to menace everyone.
It makes no sense other than chaos.
And it's working.
New York, California, they're losing so many people.
I don't know what's going to be left of them.
dave rubin
Wow.
Well, I knew you were doing the snowbird thing down here for a while.
I did not know it was official as of a couple days ago.
So welcome to the free state of Florida.
And what a loss for New York City.
I mean, you must feel, even though I'm sure you're thrilled to be here, I mean, it must be very, very bittersweet.
I know how much you love that city and how much the city loves you.
rudy giuliani
The New York Post wrote a beautiful...
Editorial yesterday, I think, saying that L.A. needs Giuliani.
And it made me very proud of what I accomplished, but then very sad that it's reverted to the norm, which is a crooked, mismanaged, corrupt Democrat city.
Even if you watch the Trump trials in New York, you get an idea that we have a corrupt judiciary.
I mean, who wants to put a business in a place where you can't get a fair trial?
There are a lot of things that have to be done.
There is a chance that there will be a Republican governor, and that could go a long way, even though it wouldn't directly impact the city.
It would have a big impact if we had a Republican governor.
It would suddenly straighten out the rest of the state pretty quickly.
dave rubin
From your mouth to God's ears.
Guys, let's talk about Hillsdale College for just a moment, and then we'll do a couple other stories with the mayor.
It's the start of a new year and if you've been thinking about starting a resolution that helps you grow, why not commit to learning something new?
Hillsdale College is making it easier than ever with more than 40 free online courses.
That's right, more than 40 free online courses.
You can dive into topics like the works of C.S. Lewis, the stories in the book of Genesis, the meaning of the U.S. Constitution, the rise and fall of the Roman Republic, or the history of the ancient Christian church, all with Hillsdale College's free online courses.
Personally, I'm loving Hillsdale's course, Constitution 101, The Meaning and History of the Constitution.
You'll learn about the political theory behind the American founding and how it's been challenged throughout history.
You'll even hear directly from Hillsdale's president, Larry Arnn, and their top-notch faculty as they guide you through topics like the natural rights theory of the founding, the declaration and constitution, the civil war crisis, the progressive rejection of the founding, and the nature and form of modern liberalism.
The course is self-paced, so you can start anytime, anywhere.
So what are you waiting for?
Head right now over to hillsdale.edu to enroll.
There's no cost, and it's super easy to get started.
That's hillsdale.edu to enroll for free.
Make this year the year you learn something new.
You won't regret it.
All right.
So with five days from 45 becoming 47, we've been talking a lot about the Trump effect here and that the world does seem to be reordering itself before he's even sworn in again.
I'd love to get the mayor's take on this.
Check this out from Bricks News.
Just in, Greenland's prime minister says he's ready to negotiate with U.S. President-elect Trump about the future of the Arctic territory.
And before I have the mayor chime in, I want you to check out this video of Chamath Palapatiya over on the All In podcast talking about why...
Greenland as an American, let's say, subsidiary might be worthwhile.
chamath palihapitiya
He may not say it in the way that it works for some people, but he's just really on top of this stuff.
So I just sent Nick a thing.
So I started to learn a little bit more about why he wants to take over Greenland.
And it really comes down to one very basic idea here.
Because of climate change and other things, the Arctic ice shelf is melting.
And the more and more it melts, it opens up.
A shipping lane in the northern passage for a lot of critical goods.
And so if you had some sort of strategic agreement with Canada and Greenland, you effectively have this monopoly control over something that could become as important as the Panama Canal.
And so I think if you look across the world, the control of maritime shipping lanes becomes this really critical strategic Military and economic asset.
And so the reason why he's trying to find a way to initiate some sort of a discussion between Greenland and Canada is exactly this reason.
And I think it's sort of like a bargaining gambit the way that he started, but it's really smart that he's trying to get this done for the United States of America.
Because meanwhile, what you have is China militarizing very aggressively, Russia militarizing very aggressively, and what you don't want to have happen is those two countries take control of that northern passage as the ice sheet melts.
Let's give Trump credit.
What's so smart is somebody was doing this work, got it in front of him, and he was smart enough to say, hold on a second, this is really important.
dave rubin
All right, guys.
So we're having some technical difficulties.
I apologize.
We're going to work on getting the mayor back.
What I wanted him to comment on there, but I think I can handle a bit of it myself while we try to clear that up, is not even the specifics of what Shamath was talking about there, as much as the idea that Trump just says these things, right?
Somebody got it in front of him.
You know, there's this interesting situation going on with Greenland and these shipping routes, and maybe it would be important.
Okay, I think we do have the mayor.
Mr. Mayor, I think the video may have dropped for you there, but I really wanted to focus not even on the specifics.
Oh, you did get it.
Okay.
So perhaps you want to chime in a little bit on why Greenland's important, but really what I wanted to ask you about that is just the Trump effect in general.
You've known this guy for decades.
The fact that he's able to just say something like, oh, we'll take Greenland and here's why, and then it just puts it in everyone's head, and then that actually changes the world.
I thought if you could talk about that as a leader, and maybe there's some risk-reward there.
What do you think?
rudy giuliani
I think it's remarkable, and it does show that he's a very unique leader.
And he can dominate the discussion, dominate the agenda, and never, ever underestimate him.
Same thing was true with Ronald Reagan.
Like when he first said Panama Canal, or first said Canada.
Canada may have been a little bit of humor, but he pushed the guy out of office.
dave rubin
Yeah.
We'll have more on that guy in a minute.
rudy giuliani
The guy's without a job.
So he's pretty powerful.
But remember now, when he says, well, we're not going to completely give up the possibility of military force.
There's a treaty between us and Panama that contemplates our using the military.
If the canal becomes, in our view, not neutral, and if the canal in any way jeopardizes American security, We don't have to ask Panama's permission.
We can use military to throw out whoever is creating the problem.
So when he says things and the left press goes crazy, it largely is because he's better educated than they are.
And the same thing is true with Greenland.
We occupied Greenland during the Second World War.
These national security concerns with Greenland go back 150 years.
So it might sound a little bit like he's poking around, but there's a method to, I guess, what they would say is his madness.
And here we now have turned this into a serious negotiation.
It began with Denmark changes the...
The seal.
That's going to really help.
They changed the seal of Denmark and Greenland.
That's going to really keep the Russians away and the Chinese.
And now the prime minister says, look, I make the decision here in Greenland.
We want to remain free, but we like talking to you.
dave rubin
I would imagine as his lawyer, every now and again, some of the over-the-top commentary probably caused a few hairs to fall out, but as a net good, I think.
rudy giuliani
Oh yes, I had a full head of hair.
But you know, I always found, sometimes he would say something, and Jay Seko and I were partners when we were representing him during the impeachment, and he would say something, and I know him a little better than Jay, and Jay would say, oh my, I would say, I bet if we just calm down, there's something to this.
And then we would, and there was.
dave rubin
So you're a big radio star these days.
There's this other guy, Charlemagne the God.
That's what they call him, but his real name's Lenny.
I can't call anyone the God.
But he has been a Democrat and a lefty, I think, virtually his entire life.
But he now, I think, is also kind of coming around to this Trump effect and what possibilities it puts on the horizon.
Take a look.
unidentified
Go to Gulf of America, yo.
Let's go to Gulf of America.
Shout out Trump, bro.
Already doing it.
Let's hear this.
Why has it ever been the Gulf of Mexico?
Let's hear it.
I don't even know why this is a thing, but it doesn't...
I don't know enough about it for it to bother me.
And if you're an American, I don't...
In your mind, you're like, yeah, why isn't it the Gulf of America?
I don't know.
I don't know why it's a thing.
Donald Trump shows me what is politically possible.
Donald Trump says what he wants to say, does what he wants to do, doesn't matter if it sounds ridiculous, doesn't matter if it makes any sense, doesn't matter if it sounds logical, he really moves to the beat of his own drum.
And I told y'all this before, the language of politics is dead, and he killed it.
charlamagne tha god
My issue with the Democrats is I don't want to hear from them until they stop being politically correct.
unidentified
And until they start saying exactly how they feel about the world and how they feel about America, because he does.
dave rubin
Mr. Mayor, what do you make of the cultural shift that has occurred?
I had Stephen A. Smith here a couple days ago from ESPN. He did not vote for Donald Trump, and yet he said that he's happy he's president and basically is supporting...
Pretty much all the policies that we think are on the way.
And there you have Charlemagne the God, Lenny, who, you know, again, did not, he voted for Kamala.
He was against Trump.
But here he is basically saying, this guy's better than anything they got.
That is an unbelievable sea change compared to when Trump came in eight years ago.
rudy giuliani
You know, it's a continuation of what he was doing during the campaign as he was opening up the Hispanic and black vote.
And he got there with the Hispanic vote.
To the extent where, I don't know if he got 50%, but in certain places he got more than 50%.
As overall, he probably got to about 45%, which is remarkable.
Next time he'll be over 50%.
The changes in the black community didn't register as much in the vote, although he doubled it.
But they're continuing.
The thinking is continuing.
And this is thinking that, you know, I would recommend to Charlemagne.
I also will resist that last part of his name.
Way back, a black leader that I would have difficulties with because of violence, but Malcolm X, made the point that the biggest enemy of the black people in America are the white liberals.
And what he was talking about was how they, he would say, make us dependent on them.
It's as if we're in another form of indentured servitude.
Well, that's absolutely correct if you look at the black areas where blacks aren't doing as well as other places.
They are dominated by Democrats.
I'm sure Charlemagne agrees with choice in education.
Almost every black parent does.
70%, 75%.
Almost every black politician votes against it.
dave rubin
Right.
rudy giuliani
Because the teachers' union pays them to do it.
I have always said someday that'll create a revolution.
Someday that's just going to happen.
Black parents are gonna say, why are we voting for these people who hurt our children?
And I think Trump is the guy to do it.
dave rubin
Right.
And if you are not happy with the schools that are in your neighborhood and because it's economically depressed or whatever else, the number one way to fix that is through school choice, which obviously Trump is a big proponent of.
And I think we're going to see more and more of that.
I don't know how quickly they'll get it to New York, but we shall see.
I want to show you one other thing on the cultural front, and then we'll end with the Canada thing and Trudeau.
But check this out from Doge Designer Breaking.
Donald Trump just received the first ever presidential commemorative inaugural Diet Coke from the CIA. CEO of the Coca-Cola company.
And Mr. Mayor, that just gets to what I was saying earlier.
Like, he's just changed so much.
You know, he came in eight years ago and they were screaming about Hitler and the white supremacists and the neo-Nazis and everything else.
And now the corporations are coming back.
Zuckerberg wants to meet with him.
You've got Charlemagne and Stephen A. Smith, all of these people who didn't even support him months ago, all coming around.
How hopeful are you that this can really, really do all the things that we want it to do?
rudy giuliani
I'm very hopeful.
This is what I expected in 2016. It would have been harder then, and then it became impossible because of the attempts to frame him with Russian collusion and Ukraine and all the other things.
But I expected that once they opened up to his personality, he'd be an enormously successful president.
Now, he was the first time without that.
Adding this to it, we get now into Ronald Reagan territory, who was able to use both his political ideology and thinking and his personality to really move America in a very positive direction.
I expect this is gonna be a very successful presidency and be an impact on us 20 years from now, the way Roosevelt was for them and Reagan was for us until a few years ago.
Reagan lasted for 20, 30 years.
dave rubin
Yeah, I think you're right.
There's going to be an awful lot of challenges.
We shall see.
We'll do one more segment on Canada and Trudeau in just a sec, but first let me talk to you about Collars& Co.
Collars& Co.
is one of the fastest growing menswear brands in the USA, and for good reason.
They're the ultimate example of a great American business, and they're changing the game when it comes to men's fashion.
Their claim to fame?
The dress collar polo.
It's an elevated polo shirt with a firm dress collar that holds its shape, no more floppy or bacon collars.
It's office approved, combining that sharp professional look with the comfort of a t-shirt.
Whether you're heading to the office, out to dinner, or traveling, this polo is perfect for every occasion.
The fabric is stretchy, super comfortable, and travels well, so it always looks great, whether you're wearing it by itself or laying it under a sweater or a blazer.
Even Eric Trump has been spotted rocking these polos all over his Instagram.
But Collars& Co.
didn't stop there.
After securing a million-dollar deal on Shark Tank, they've expanded into other categories.
They've got merino sweaters and quarter zips that pair perfectly with their polos.
Stretch chinos for ultimate...
Comfort and style.
The Maverick Performance Blazer, a travel blazer that's wrinkle-free, sharp-looking, and can literally be rolled up in a bag.
These are wardrobe essentials for the modern guy who wants to look sharp and stay comfortable.
So hey, what are you waiting for?
Head on over to collarsandco.com and use code RUBEN for 20% off your first order.
That's collarsandco.com.
Trust me, you're going to love this brand.
Rudy mentioned Trudeau, who apparently is on his way out as Prime Minister of Canada, certainly at least not going to be the Liberal Party leader much longer.
He went on the, what I call, the televised mental institution known as MSNBC to talk about Donald Trump.
jen psaki
No, it's greatly appreciated the contributions that they're making.
You may disagree with my suggestion that it's a fraught relationship, but I think some see it that way.
But I think one of the reasons is because Donald Trump is, of course, going to be inaugurated in just over a week from now.
He has been pushing this idea of making Canada the 51st state.
I know that's not something you've taken too kindly to, but how seriously do you take that threat?
unidentified
Let's remember, I got to work with President Trump through his first four years in office.
And we were able to renegotiate the most important trade deal either of us have, which is the Canada-US free trade deal, in a way that was beneficial to both our countries.
And I know that as a successful negotiator, he likes to keep people a little off balance.
The 51st state, that's not going to happen.
It's just a non-starter.
Canadians are incredibly proud of being Canadian.
But people are now talking about that as opposed to talking about, for example, what the impact of 25% Well, I guess two questions there, Mr. Mayor.
dave rubin
First off, do you think it's completely off the table, this 51st state idea?
And the second question, what do you make of a leader who strikes me?
I mean, he's very much like a Newsom to me.
It's just a suit.
It's a suit with nice hair, and that's pretty much all you get with the guy.
rudy giuliani
Isn't it interesting?
I see the two of them as very similar as well.
And he's on his way out.
Let's hope it happens to the other one, too.
But I think you ask it the right way.
Is it completely out of the question?
The answer is no.
Nothing is completely out of the question.
If there were an opening, he'd jump on it in a minute.
I think it's unrealistic and very difficult and not particularly necessary.
Greenland, Panama, necessary.
You've got to get the Chinese out of Panama.
That's very serious.
I would make that priority number one.
Greenland is a bit more of a long-term project.
Maybe one easier to do, too.
But Canada is long-term and unrealistic.
But if the Canadian people had a turn in that direction, it would happen.
I mean, if this ends up appealing to them over a period of time, then it could happen.
dave rubin
Right, and that's the exact Trump effect we've been talking about.
I want to finish up with one other video of Trudeau, because this combines sort of this Trump effect we're talking about, and then also social media, censorship, and so much of the other misinformation nonsense we've been dealing with.
Take a look.
jake tapper
The struggle that you were having domestically, your disapproval rating, had to do with, as I understand it, Discontent with your government because of high inflation and the economy and also because of immigration policies.
Those are also issues that the left-wing party in this country has faced a lot of disapproval of and just lost an election over.
It seems like voters in both of these liberal democracies are sending a message to left-wing parties, liberal parties, we don't like how you're doing the economy when it comes to inflation.
We don't like how you're doing immigration.
unidentified
There are a lot of feelings involved.
I mean, if you look at the actual numbers, inflation in Canada was lower, came down quicker.
Our economy bounced back faster after the pandemic than anyone else's, including the United States.
We're projected to grow faster than the United States and all other G7 countries next year.
Our economy is doing very well.
That's what it is.
justin trudeau
But when you get a conflagration, but at least an intersection of Of both right-wing policy, right-wing attacks and social media, you end up with a lot of misinformation, disinformation and responsible governments have to stay focused on the policies that are making a difference and that's what we've been doing.
dave rubin
Mr. Mayor, the reason I wanted to show you that clip is because everyone knows that you were the one that got the Hunter Biden laptop.
You were leading the story, trying to tell people what happens.
We don't have to rehash what Twitter and the government did and that you couldn't share the New York Post story and everything else.
But it has...
It's left-wing censorship that did this.
It's left-wing attacks that denied the truth and called the rest of us Nazis and all of these things.
And maybe we could end the show with you just briefly explaining what your situation is right now, because you're going through an awful lot.
I'm thrilled to hear you're here in Florida, and I'll always help you as I can.
But where are you at with all this?
Because it's not right-wing attacks that created this chaos.
It's left-wing attacks, and it's at your doorstep.
rudy giuliani
100%.
And when I heard that before, that pretty much was the whole Biden approach, right?
There is no inflation.
The economy is wonderful.
The border is secure.
And meanwhile, the people are seeing reality.
And they are actually doing a better job of converting them to us than we are by reality hitting people in the face.
As far as I'm concerned, we're going through the remaining...
Vestiges of lawfare.
I have a judge in the District of Columbia who put more J6 people in jail than anyone, Judge Howell, who actually got annoyed that the judges weren't giving large enough sentences.
And she has held me in contempt, and she wants me to recite a statement that she's going to write for me.
That is so offensive to the First Amendment.
I'd never heard of that before.
But that's how far they have gone.
I think we're going to ultimately win all these cases or get them settled.
But it's going to take a while.
And I've been through hell.
You're absolutely right.
Except I'm sustained by the fact that other people have been through worse.
And I do mention the J6 people because I'm in that court a lot because of my case with $148 million at all.
And this will go down in history.
That's worse than the Japanese internment, what they did to those people.
That's not to say there weren't some bad ones, but there were mostly good ones.
And the bad ones were disproportionately punished.
I mean, we punish people for hitting a cop, and we should.
But we don't hold them without bail.
And we don't put them in a substandard-style prison.
And we don't put them in jail for five years.
In New York, in fact, we don't put them in jail at all.
And then you have an awful lot of these people.
You know, only something like 78 of the 1,000 or maybe 120 of the 1,000 involve violence.
Most of these were not violent.
Most of those people are not guilty of touching a cop.
So, yes, you should do it case by case.
But once you see it's not violent, let them out.
And then the violent ones take a look at it.
They may have already served three times more than anybody else for a similar violent offense, but they were certainly denied due process, every single one of them.
The judges on the D.C. court should be investigated for having become something other than American judges and entered into a kind of insane zeal about an event that never really happened.
Even when people say, like, insurrection.
Just the other day, one of those crazy reporters on one of those crazy networks said that this was like World War II. Oh, it was Sonny Hostin on The View Senate, yeah.
You've got to be living on another planet to say that.
But then for a judge to convert that into legal action, well, that's the destruction of the Constitution.
And that was probably the worst thing that happened, except maybe the things they did to the president to try to prevent him from being president.
But those people have been real martyrs, many of them completely innocent.
dave rubin
Well, Mr. Mayor, it's that kind of grace and humility and selflessness that made me very proud to be a New Yorker when you were mayor.
And I'm even happier that you are now here in the free state of Florida.
So next time, let's do this in person.
And I thank you for your time, as always.
rudy giuliani
We'll come down.
unidentified
See you.
dave rubin
Look at the smile.
You see what happens?
Look at the smile when people move down to Florida.
It's incredible.
That's what happens.
He's got all the legal troubles, but the man's still smiling.
Love you, Rudy.
Thank you for your time.
rudy giuliani
Take care.
Same here, Dave.
dave rubin
All right, guys.
We are not going to have a postgame show today because I'm on Piers Morgan.
I can actually hear them ringing all the way across the pond in Europe right now.
So no postgame show today.
I'm on Piers Morgan, Newsome, Florida, probably some Middle East stuff and a bunch more.
Stay tuned for that.
We'll put some stuff on our channel.
And if you haven't seen it yet, the full episode of Stephen A. Smith is up right now.
Okay.
Thank you for watching.
Goodbye.
unidentified
Is dead.
donald j trump
So you said you went to Delaware State, but you forgot the name of your college.
unidentified
You didn't go to Delaware State.
You graduated either the lowest or almost the lowest in your class.
Don't ever use the word smart with me.
Getting a good picture, everybody, so we look nice and handsome and thin.
Beautiful.
Mr. Trump.
I never attacked him on his look, and believe me, there's plenty of subject matter right there.
What do you say to Americans who are watching you right now who are scared?
I say that you're a terrible reporter.
The total initiative relative to what we're going to do with more Border Patrol and more asylum officers.
jake tapper
President Trump?
unidentified
I really don't know what he said at the end of that sentence.
I don't think he knows what he said either.
I'm not concerned about anything with the Russian investigation because it's a hoax.
That's enough.
