		Before I get into the narrative of today's program, the peep.
		Hegseth confirmation hearings are happening on Capitol Hill right now, and I wanted to show you this image that I just saw this morning.
		There are protesters there from Code Pink.
		And look at that guy.
		Is he something?
		Oh my God.
		You know, Donald Trump has the village people, and the left has the village idiots.
		Look at these freaking people.
		Something about Gaza.
		Yeah, Christian jihad.
		That's what your biggest worry should be, dude.
		Wait until you find out what the Muslim jihad does to people like you.
		No religious extremists, no crusades.
		It's just, these are the buffoons.
		And of course, they've already there's video of it coming out right now, but they've already started interrupting the hearing and everything else.
		It does sound like Hegseth is going to get through and he absolutely deserves it.
		And, you know, we went through that month, you know, was it almost two months ago now firestorm about him, which largely went away.
		So I think Trump's going to get virtually everybody through.
		We'll see about that in the next couple of days.
		But let's focus on what's happening right now, which, of course, is related to the California fires and how it is connected to so much of what we've talked about over the last couple of years, not only the woke stuff, but also general government inefficiency.
		How the media lies and lies and lies, and that leaves a whole bunch of people, not you watching the Rubin Report, but a whole bunch of other people not knowing which way is up.
		And then we'll connect that to some of the other characters that we often talk about on the show.
		And speaking of one of the characters we often talk about on the show, my buddy Adam Carolla, who is a Californian.
		We played the video of him last week from about 20 years ago, or he was at a congressional hearing a couple years ago, talking about how about 20 plus years ago, he was trying to become a fire.
		A fire department worker, a fireman, in Los Angeles.
		And he was put on a seven-year waiting list.
		As a white man, and that's clearly connected to everything that I'm always going on about here.
		And he's in California.
		I think it's public.
		I think he's moving to Vegas.
		He can't take it there anymore.
		He's been a critic of Gavin Newsom for well over a decade.

		Blame the government, absolutely.
		100%.
		So I don't call the guy a hero, but I do blame our government.
		I do as well.
		All you f* out there that have your panties in a bunch because these guys are going to be able to speak freely now, go f* them.
		F* yourself a thousand times with a thousand rusty mop handles because you're now worried that misinformation and disinformation, after you've been creating all the myths and disinformation for the last 10 years, give me a f*.
		You are pissed off because you can't control the narrative, not because the narrative is dangerous.
		It's only about control.
		You guys were wrong about everything.
		You had control, and you forced everyone to capitulate.
		And now you don't have control, and you hate it.
		But it's not because it's dangerous.
		Or if it is misinformation, then what are we talking about?

		Like, what are we talking about here?
		It's insane that they even have the gall to feign that they're upset about this new thing and how dangerous it's going to be when people start making their own decisions.

dave rubin ▲ ● ▼		Okay, so what he's talking about there is that Gavin Newsom and many of the public officials in Los Angeles and in California are now blaming Elon Musk and Donald Trump and probably me and maybe you for sharing things online that are blaming them for these fires, even though there's a lot of evidence, and we'll have some of it for you in a bit, that they do deserve an awful lot of blame.
		Also, the idea that Gavin Newsom is suddenly concerned about misinformation.
		information.
		I mean, do I have to go into the litany of things that the left and MSNBC and all of these people have lied about?
		He's right.
		You know, ivermectin and COVID and all those things.
		So suddenly now they're very, very concerned because that should be your number one concern as your city is burning down, that people are saying the wrong things about what's going on.
		What he's referencing there is, check this out, a video conference between the man pretending to be president, at least for a few more days, Joe Biden and Gavin Newsom.
		And listen to what Gavin is really upset about at the moment.
unidentified		I ask you, we've got to deal with this misinformation.
		There are hurricane force winds of mis- and disinformation lies.
		People want to divide this country, and we're going to have to address that as well.
		And it breaks my heart as people are suffering and struggling that we're up against those hurricane forces as well.
		And that's just a point of personal privilege that I share that with you because it infects real people that are out there, people I meet every single day, people the mayor's been meeting with, and they're having conversations that are not the typical conversations you'd have at this time.
		And you wonder where this stuff comes from.
		And it's very damaging as well.

		Think about what a lying, sniveling, snake-rat lizard person he is.
		Snake-rat lizard person.
		My kids would love that if they could combine all those things into something.
		He's evil.
		He really is evil.
		Let's just say that misinformation and lying about what Gavin Newsom has or hasn't done, let's just say it was really bad right now, it still wouldn't be on the top 10 list of what you should be doing right now, Gavin.
		And every ounce of your energy, every bit of your focus should be on figuring out how to make sure that the fire hydrants have access to water.
		The fire is about to kick up again.
		It's been in a little bit of a lull for the last 48 hours because the winds died down.
		But those Santa Anas supposedly are going to kick up again probably tomorrow for a couple days.
		So this all could start again.
		So even if your biggest concern was people are lying about you, Gavin, and saying you were really concerned about salmon and smelt.
		We'll have a video on that in a second.
		It still is irrelevant.
		And the fact that he's talking...
		To a man with dementia who just offered $770 to the Californians.
		It's like we're paying the Ukrainian pensioners more than that.
		Okay, fine.
		So it's just everything that these people do.
		They ruin everything and then they keep, what I keep telling you, it's a shell game.
		Then they got you blaming and looking everywhere except where the ball might be.
		It's about misinformation.
		That's the problem.
		And you know what?
		Actually, Gavin, you do deserve a lot of the blame here because you have removed dams and you did all of these ridiculous...
		Look, we all like salmon.
		I like fresh salmon as much as the next guy.
		I like those nature videos.
		When you see the salmon swimming upstream, it's quite a life that they have to live.
		Most things go downstream, but they're swimming upstream the entire time.
		It's partly why the salmon meat is so healthy, right?
		They're living and they're catching the plankton and the stuff.
		And then they're jumping and the bear's trying to catch them.
		Well, Gavin Newsom, but that aside, Gavin Newsom removed a whole bunch of dams in California.

		And again, we partner with the tribes that understand this better than anybody else.

		But that's one of the videos that Gavin is claiming is misinformation.
		It's not explaining properly what happened.

		Gavin tweeted, a lot of misinformation out there.

		And then, well, it got community noted because no, it's not a new website at all.
		The website that Governor Newsom linked to is not a state website, but rather takes you to his political campaign website.
		Can you believe that?
		It literally takes you to GavinNewsom.com.
		The link to donate to Cal Fire Foundation takes you to ActBlue, a Democrat-raising platform that takes 3.95% of all transactions.
		I mean, the level of slime that this man is coded in is just unimaginable.
		Like, dude, did you not think you were going to get community noted?
		You said it's a new website.
		It's your website.
		And why not just send...
		People to something that they can donate to that the money is going to go directly to the firefighters or those who've been affected or something like that.
		But you have to go through ActBlue so 4% can go back to your bosses, you evil snake.
		But he's not the only evil snake.
		Elizabeth Warren, socialist worth about $40 million.

		Of course, that got community noted too.
		This is not a link to a charity.

		And then you see this, what Community Notes then did on top of it.

		So for some reason, these Democrats who F everything up in the first place, even after the F-ing.
		They still can't do the right thing and just put up a link to a website to help people, either help the first responders or help the people whose houses burn down.
		Instead, what is it?
		It's all keep moving the money, guys, and another 4% to the Democrats who largely did this.
		But it's not just Gavin Newsom that lies about this and Elizabeth Warren and useless Joe Biden and all their bad policies and their dishonest nature and their desire to silence you and everything else.
		That's what I'm always interested in.
		It's the media layer that launder the lies for these people.
		We now have a compilation, and I know some of you will have to mute it, so I'm warning you in advance.
		We've got Sonny Hostin, Jimmy Kimmel, and Don Lemon all blaming misinformation, racism, and of course Trump.
		This is like the trifecta of stupidity.

		He said that California's woke politics and DEI are the reasons for the fires because Newsom has been tearing down dams because Native Americans, but he called them Indians, wanted some of the river back so they could catch salmon.
		And Gavin didn't just knock down one dam for the Indians.
		He knocked them.
		All down.
		He knocked down four of the dams.
		I'm sorry, this stolen land, first of all, okay?
		California's stolen land.
		Second of all, that's part of what always happens.
		These dams, there's preservation of the dam.
		So that was just complete, not only misinformation, but it was racist.
		And I think we need to also call stuff like that out.

		Then she says it's stolen land, that California is stolen land.

		Because Carolla has been fighting Newsom for years, publicly and privately.
		So a lot of it's happened on air, it's happened at events, all sorts of things.
		This is video from 2013, 12 years ago, well before we were all talking about DEI and wokeness and everything else.
		But if you want to see the long march through the institutions and how these people just wrecked everything, here's Carolla and Newsom discussing a little something about racism you might find interesting.

		And why did he keep his winery open when he closed other wineries during COVID and had dinner at French Laundry, possibly the most expensive restaurant in the United States, with lobbyists during COVID? The man is profoundly evil.
		Carolla did such a spectacular job there because Newsom has no idea what he's talking about.
		Oh, blacks and Hispanics.
		So all Adam said is why?
		And you know why he can't answer why?

		It just happens to be that way?
		Well, if it just happens to be that way, then it's not a policy thing that we would be delineating different groups to be.
		You know, given certain things, right?
		The reason he can't answer it is it's because Democrat policies have kept certain people of certain races in certain situations, right?
		If you keep giving people food stamps and you give people rent that is way cheaper and section this housing and that, if you keep giving them a little something, they never get off the teat.
		It's not their fault, right?
		It's human nature if you did it to anyone else.
		But it's you guys, the Democrats, who did all of that, right?

		And now there's more homeless there than anywhere else in the country.
		And now look what has happened in Los Angeles.
		Again, largely because of him.
		But people are awaking up!

	I mean, often people don't wake up to the lunacy of the left until they get smacked in the face with it, right?
	Like a conservative is just a liberal who has been mugged by reality.

	This is LA Times owner, Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, who now is admitting, now admitting that maybe his paper shouldn't have endorsed Karen Bass for LA mayor.

		So at the LA Times, we endorse Karen Bass.
		I think right now in front, that's a mistake.
		And we admit that.
		So I thought it was very important early on for me to come out.
		And I think we were one of the few to say competence matters.
		We've got maybe 20, 23 million views to show how that was really due to the heart of most people, whether you're right or left.
		And it's an interesting thing is that maybe we should think about how we elect people.
		On the basis of, did they actually run a job?
		Did they actually make a payroll?
		Do they understand what it is?
		And rather than having professional politicians whose only job is ready to run for office, there's nothing, I'm not going to be disparaging, but I think we are at the stage now of the nation and the world, and there's many things we'll talk about even in healthcare, that you really need people to understand how it affects a man in the street, you know, how it affects.
		The working type of person, and I think President Trump in this election has understood that, and he's become truly a Republican Party, as you said.
		He's become the Democratic Party in terms of addressing the problems of the man in the street.
		So competence absolutely matters, and I'm glad that that's been taken up as almost a meme now, that competence matters.

		What do I always say about this, right?
		It's that welcome to the party pal moment, Bruce Willis in Die Hard.
		You suddenly, we're suddenly at the time in America where we might need people who know how to do things.
		Career politicians don't really make sense anymore.
		Congratulations, doctor.
		I don't know what he's a doctor of, but I'm not very impressed with his degree.
		The Los Angeles Times is absolute trash, by the way, and no one should pay attention to it.
		And I get...
		He's in some ways doing what Zuckerberg is doing.
		We played the videos the other day.
		It's like, you had a lot to do with things that are wrong, but you're now sort of coming around because you see the way the culture's changing.
		He's flat out admitting it there.
		I think what he's doing is way more cynical than Zuckerberg, who does seem to at least be going through some version of an evolution.
		But the LA Times, he shouldn't have endorsed Bass, and we shouldn't just be endorsing politicians who are career politicians who don't know anything about anything.
		I guess we shouldn't be doing that.
		Dude, you endorsed Joe Biden.
		Yes, the Los Angeles Times.
		So, I'm not gonna really, you can't come to my holiday party.
		The Los Angeles Times also put this up during the recall of Gavin Newsom.
		Column, Larry Elder is the black face of white supremacy.
		You've been warned.
		I mean, that might be the most disgusting headline I have ever seen.
		As you guys know, I campaigned with Larry Elder.
		We did many stops together.
		I saw an unbelievable mix, it's just even pointless to say, of white people, black people, gay people, straight people, women, lesbians.
		And it was the black face of white supremacy.
		Which way do you think things would be going right now if Los Angeles had chosen Rick Caruso, whose mall is still standing because he knows how to get things done in the Palisades, or if they had maybe chosen Larry Elder?
		Do you think it would be worse if they chose Larry Elder?
		Probably not.
		But, as I said before, a conservative is just a liberal mugged by reality.
		And often people don't wake up until they suddenly see something crazy, right?
		We saw a whole bunch of people wake up after October 7th or suddenly someone wakes up because they find out that their daughter has suddenly a boy's name at school and they didn't know about it for months.
		And it's until it just smashes them in the face.
		And one way to be smashed in the face is have your house burned down.
		Here's Megyn Kelly talking about how her one remaining woke friend is now a Republican.

		People have finally, I suppose, swallowed the red pill, and we don't know how many of them will vote Republican next time.
		And it's not to say that the Republicans are perfect or anything else.

		He was the DA in Los Angeles, who was at one time the DA of San Francisco, who had everything to do.

		As a potential three-strike person, he is looking at life in prison.
		And Mr. Bell, as a second-strike individual, will be looking at 22 years and eight months in prison if convicted.

		Mr. Escobar, as well, has not only been charged, but he is set for arraignment today.

		President-elect Trump was elected with a mandate to stop illegal immigration and deport illegal aliens already in our country.
		State and local officials in Florida will actively facilitate the Trump administration's policies against illegal immigration.
		And to do that, we need to immediately set aside and approve the necessary funding and resources now.
		As part of the special session I called for on January 27th, the week after President Trump is sworn in, I am calling on the legislature to appropriate funding for detention, relocation, transportation infrastructure, local law enforcement support, and everything else needed for Florida to carry out this mission.
		That, ladies and gentlemen, is competent governance.
		What he is saying is, there are laws in this country.
		We just had an election.
		The president has promised to do something, and I, as the chief executive of this state, is going to do everything possible to facilitate his ability to abide by the will of we, the people.

		They need to know you have responsibilities to help facilitate this important interest for our country.
		We'll provide you funding for it.
		But you've got to be on the team here.

		When and what legislation we consider.
		The two leaders said no language for bills has been released.
		Calling a special session at this time is premature.
		So DeSantis right now, as it stands, is in a fight with his legislature here.
		And the legislature here, it's a Republican supermajority.
		They're usually pretty good.
		But in essence, they don't want to come back to work right now.
		And DeSantis is basically saying, let's get to work now to help the Trump agenda get passed.
		We have turned this place from blue to purple to super red.
		Let's go ahead and do it.
		From everything I can see in Florida and everyone that I'm talking to on the inside, DeSantis has all the momentum to make that happen, but you can't force, as far as I know, unless there's some other mechanism.
		I don't know that the governor can force the legislature to have this special session to allocate these funds.
		So there's a fight even here.
		But I would much rather, I mean, this goes to federalism, I would much rather some of these fights be happening at the local level where you have a little bit of a voice rather than doing everything at the federal level where things often get lost.

		Pertains to the federal level, Donald Trump is bringing in some heavy hitters.
		Tom Homan, who's going to be in charge of these deportations, and I keep saying this is the guy, if they took, if you were casting a movie about the guy in charge of deportations, it would be Tom Homan.
		He had a spectacular answer on the cost of deportations.

		The point of all of this, to kind of bring this all together, is that there is a new era on the way, and it's less than a week away.

		He's one of Trump's, well, he's doing stuff with the transition team, but one of his chief advisors as well.
		And listen to what they're talking about, because one of the main concerns about Trump, and I had the concern too, was could he get the right people around him?
		How is he going to deal with staffing?
		Would he realize how deep the swamp is and the rest of it?
		Well, listen to what Miller's thoughts are on how the transition is going right now.
unidentified		In terms of the transition, he has been naming people left and right to staff this incoming administration.
		He seems to be far ahead of where he was eight years ago in terms of staffing the offices underneath him.
		President Trump is so far ahead of where he was eight years ago.
		So with regard to the cabinet nominees, we have 13 confirmation hearings coming up next week, which is ahead of the pace of where we were eight years ago.
		And John, by the end of the month in 2017...
		President Trump only had is about three cabinet members that were fully confirmed and passed out of the Senate.
		We're going to have three times as many completely passed out of the Senate this time in 2025. So well ahead of the pace before.
		Here's the other thing, though.
		When it comes to the personnel.
		President Trump and the transition team running about 40 to 50 times ahead of schedule with personnel in place by Inauguration Day as opposed to 2017. This team, led by Suzy Wiles from a top-down structure, is really focused not just on getting people in place, but getting the right people in place.
		That's what's going to make the difference.
		Hitting the ground running, it sounds like.

		There was still the feeling of if you were associated with Trump, you were going to be destroyed.
		The culture was completely different.
		All of those things.
		And they did not staff properly.
		And they could not, they literally could not get enough people to fill some of these jobs.
		And that is completely different this time when you think of the people that he already has around him.
		That are highly functioning and ready to go, whether it's Elon or Vivek or David Sachs or the litany of other people.
		I mentioned on the show yesterday, I was at an event, a private thing this past weekend, but I think I can mention one line that RFK said, which is that he is so unbelievably impressed and has not seen anything like it since his uncle was alive.
		JFK, about the amount of people that want to serve now.
		People who are not just serving because they want to get the government job so you don't have to work very hard so you can get a good pension, but people who have been titans of industry who are contacting him and saying, how can I help with this?
		What can I do over here?
		I want to volunteer my time.
		I don't even want to get paid, etc., etc.
		And that's the type of national revival that we could be on the verge of.
		And we could also be on the verge of just some of this kind of fun stuff.
