Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 podcast.
Greetings, my friends, and welcome.
Great to have you here.
It's the middle of the week.
It's hump day.
Mr. Snerdley's back from a couple days of idle, slothful behavior, back mining the phones here as you call in to get screened.
So he ought to be revved and ready.
We have a substitute broadcast engineer who's ignoring everybody today, so we don't know how that's going to go.
But normally professionalism rears its ugly head or its beautiful head, whichever the case may be, and everything's going to be fine.
Remember, I'm the glue, so as long as I'm cool, everything else will be fine as well.
It's the way it always is.
Great to have you here.
Telephone numbers 800-282-2882 and the email address lrushmo at eibnet.com.
I've got an odd feeling about this debate tonight.
And no, it's not trepidation about what's going to happen.
It's because I'm not what happens, happens.
It's that we all know.
I mean, without any doubt here, we all know what is on tap tonight.
Well, what do you mean, some of it?
We know pretty much the main focus of this, everybody is going to be trying to destroy Trump.
Everybody.
From the moderators to the post-analysis analysts to the pre-debate analysts to the candidates themselves to the Iranians.
Everybody's going to be trying to – if there's anything that's been telegraphed prior to a debate, it's that on this debate.
I don't know.
There's just, there is, hey, don't misunderstand.
I'm not complaining about anything.
There's just something about this.
I just have an odd feeling that this is not something I'm really going to enjoy looking at.
I can't explain it anymore than that.
And it's not that I have any fear anybody's going to bomb out.
It's none of that.
It's that maybe it's all good.
I think we're going to have politics as usual on display, and I'm hoping that that's what bombs out.
We're going to have OPPO research out the wazoo.
If there's been anything in the future telegraphed any more than this one is, I don't know what it is.
I don't know what it would be.
Anyway, we'll get to that in due course.
Thoughts, predictions.
There really aren't too many predictions that you have to make here.
I mean, you pretty much know what's going to happen, and you know how they're going to try to make it happen.
Somebody's going to have some sort of secret bit of information about Trump that we haven't heard before that they're going to accuse him of.
Or they're going to run a list of names by him and make him defend his relationship with them or his knowledge of them or some such gotcha technique as that.
And then we're going to have probably a contest of who's the real conservative, what's a real conservative, what isn't a conservative, who's the fraud conservative, this kind of stuff.
And remember, it's on CNN, so every damn one of these candidates is going to have to justify the fact that they breathe.
They're going to have to justify the fact that they're alive.
And they're going to have to justify this audacious belief they have that any of them should be president.
How dare they?
Who do they think they are?
That's going to be the attitude of the media on this.
In the meantime, there's other news happening out there.
And I would be remiss if I didn't mention it to you.
And I think I'm going to start with some of that now because once we get into the debate and the predictions and the forecasts and the discussions, that's going to dominate everything here, which is fine.
Folks, I'm not complaining about anything.
I don't want anybody to misread the tone of my voice or my words.
I'm not complaining about a thing.
I don't complain.
I don't whine.
I hate whining.
I hate moaning.
I hate it.
I don't do it.
I'm the mayor of Rielville.
But here, try this.
We have been discussing, maybe more than anywhere else in the major media.
We have been discussing this Islamic invasion of Europe.
It's being called migration.
It's being called immigration.
It's being called humanitarian, mass humanitarian shift, some such thing.
It's an invasion, much as we, the United States, are being invaded on our southern border.
Now let's retrace just briefly.
The big news was that the immigrants are largely male, 80% male.
They are largely in the 18 to 24 demographic, which means they're being categorized as military able, military aged.
We're told that they are fleeing their war-torn, poverty-stricken countries.
That are under attack by ISIS.
We are then led to believe that they would rather flee and get the hell out than stay there and defend their countries.
Well, no, that's what we're told.
We're told largely that they are from Syria, but then we've learned that many of them are fake.
They're buying fake Syrian passports.
Because being from Syria during all of this is almost like a ticket to get you where you want to go.
Then we found out that these migrants don't want to go just anywhere in Europe.
They want to go to Germany and Sweden.
They will not stop anywhere along the way except to use the bathroom and maybe eat.
But even at that, it's not a long stop, and then their trek begins again or continues.
In the midst of all this, we were shocked to learn that the chancellor of Germany, one Angela Merkel, was opening her arms and welcoming them in.
To which I, your host, expressed tremendous incredulity, requiring a deep investigation.
Didn't understand that.
Then I found out that Germany has a birth rate that is way below replacement levels.
They are not capable to maintain their current population, which has dire economic consequences.
And that was to explain why Angela Merkel was welcoming them in.
800,000 this year, 500,000 next year, and every year after that until Merkel gets what she wants out of it.
We found out they also want to go to Sweden.
We found that Denmark originally wanted them and then told them, no, stay away.
That was a shocker.
You think Denmark, among all these European nations, would be the first to welcome them in.
They have no interest in stopping in Greece, no interest in stopping in Italy, no interest in stopping in Turkey, no interest in stopping in any Muslim country.
We found that Saudis do not want them.
The Saudis, by the way, in Mecca, if you are devout Muslim, I don't know if you're devout or not, you are required to make the pilgrimage, the Hajj, to the Grand Mosque in Mecca once in your lifetime.
And it's happening this time of year.
We're approaching the time of year where it happens.
Gazillions and gazillions do this.
As such, they have a tent city.
Saudis have built a massive tent city, air-conditioned, direct TV.
Well, sorry, I'm not sure about direct TV.
Air-conditioned, indoor plumbing giant that will house, I think, a minimum of a million for three weeks a year.
Saudis will not allow any of these migrants to go there and use them.
The Saudis don't want the migrants, just like they don't want the Palestinians.
The Jordanians, none of them, Turkey, not interested.
They must go to Germany.
They must go to Europe.
Well, giant red flags began raising in my mind, learning all this.
Then the next thing we found out was that the German people were not of the same mind as the Chancellor, Angela Merkel.
And there began to be protests in Germany.
So the German people responded and told the incoming migrants, whatever they are.
It told them that you can't just live anywhere.
You're going to live where we tell you.
That begot instant protest.
No, no, no, no.
You can't tell us where we're going to live.
We're going to live where we want to live.
Then we learned that the Saudis gave $200 million to build a number of mosques in Germany.
I mean, it's like 200 mosques that the Saudis have offered to build, not in Mecca, not anywhere in Saudi Arabia, but in Germany.
The German people said, whoa, whoa, whoa, wait, wait, wait.
We may not really agree with the Chancellor on this, but it's too late.
Where am I headed with this?
Right here.
Right here, my formerly nicotine stained fingers.
If you're just tuning in and you think I haven't discussed the debate, you're wondering why I already have, and we're going to get back to it.
Okay, but I'm just getting some stuff out of the way here that I want to talk about today.
I know once we get to the debate, we're not going to get back to this stuff.
And this is important.
The American Mirror is the site, the headline.
It begins.
Muslims demand Munich and Oktoberfest.
That would be like Muslims migrating to America and demanding that every state cancel its state fair.
It was only a matter of time before the quote-unquote refugees pouring into Europe and their sympathizers would begin to impose their Islamic will.
Morad Almoradi, writing from the Netherlands, has created a petition on change.org asking that the city of Munich in Germany end the traditional 16-day Oktoberfest event.
Here's what he wrote: Dear City Council of Munich, I am writing this letter to bring to your attention something that I and many Muslims believe is unfair and requires attention.
I would like to inform you that the Oktoberfest is an intolerant and anti-Islamic event.
We tried to ignore the event, but there are too many un-Islamic acts done at the Oktoberfest, such as alcohol consumption, public nudity, etc.
We understand that the Oktoberfest is a yearly German tradition, but we cannot tolerate this un-Islamic event because it offends us and all Muslims.
Now, I'm running this down to make sure this is real.
Now, it could be a satire site.
This letter is written as though it's just begging to be bought and believed by unsuspecting people in the media.
I am not one of those.
I am well aware, even if this is a satire piece, even if this is a hoax, all good comedy has a fundamental requirement for it to be funny, and that is called truth.
Now, how many of you, when I began to read this, I'm reading it verbatim, this website American Man, how many of you believed it?
How many of you think it's entirely believed?
How many of you think it may actually be happening?
See, that's the point.
Everybody here is nodding their head yes.
Whether it's a satire site, whether we're being hoaxed here or not, even if we are being hoaxed, the fact is people could readily believe it.
This kind of thing is already happening in the United States with demands of other cultures who come here demanding that we make changes to accommodate them.
And if this isn't really happening in Germany, yet it will.
You look at the Muhammad cartoon, photo snafus, and this kind of this kind of thing will happen.
This letter from Morad Almoradi says, we are requesting the immediate cancellation of the upcoming Oktoberfest event.
We also believe an Oktoberfest might also offend all the Muslim refugees coming from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan.
So, this is not even tied to the refugees, according to Mohammed or Morad Al-Murati.
The cancellation of the Oktoberfest event will help refugees not to forget their Islamic history.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
And it is a petition at change.org.
It has 250 signers at the time I printed this out.
Munich has been inundated with refugees, about 13,000 arriving Saturday alone, according to the UK Independent.
Munich is a main entry point for the refugees.
City leaders say they're at capacity now.
The Munich mayor, Dieter Reiter, has been, it might be Dieter Reader, has been described as trembling with rage because other cities have not helped him.
Now he's contending with those who are trying to change his culture.
Oktoberfest began in 1810.
What are you smiling?
What are you smiling at?
Well, I know it's even if this, even if this is a hoax satire sent, those places are all over the place.
Remember, this is not nowhere near out of the realm of eventual possibility.
UK Daily Mail.
How many are genuine?
Eyewitnesses claim fewer than a third of refugees who have made it to Germany are in fact Syrian, and some are even ISIS infiltrators, ISIS infiltrators, the UK Daily Mail.
Refugees fleeing areas of Syria torn apart by war say they are being joined by thousands of impostors.
Desperate refugees claim as many as seven out of ten migrants are lying about their past.
This is not news.
This is not shocking in any way, shape, name, or form.
In fact, we suspected this from the get-go.
No, the petition is real.
The petition is real.
It's at change.org.
The Muslim Oktoberfest petition is real.
The petition has been closed.
They got 494, 484 supporters.
They only need to get to 500.
Don't know why it was closed.
Don't know why the petition was closed because somebody does not want Oktoberfest.
And the change.org petition is real.
They want to cancel Oktoberfest.
Folks, they're telling everybody what they intend to do.
The Ayatollah hominy, all of these clowns, the blind shake, you name them.
They've all said they're going to conquer Europe and then us without firing a shot.
Anyway, I'm going to take a break here.
Sit tight.
Don't go away.
We're loaded, as you can imagine.
Now, this thing, this petition in Munich to ban the Oktoberfest, demanded by an Islamic individual, Maravi, Al-Moradi, Sahib, Skyhook, whatever.
Look how quickly it got up to 484 supporters and they pulled it.
But the most telling thing about this is it wouldn't surprise anybody if it was legit, even if it's a hoax.
It wouldn't surprise anybody if it's legit.
You know it's being thought by some of these refugees.
You know, I mean, it's going to happen if this is a hoax.
You know, I'm looking at the shots of the Reagan Library where the debate's going to be tonight.
I've made a speech very, very close.
The podium where I spoke is very close to where they've constructed the stage.
Where the candidate's going to be tonight, the fuselage of the Air Force One Boeing 707, last in service, by the way, for George H. W. Bush.
The 747 came into service during his, I think, the last two years of his term.
Reagan exclusively flew the 707.
It's the most amazing sight.
And it was, when I made my speech there, I was positioned in such a way that my sight line, as I looked at the room down the right side, I was almost looking parallel down the fuselage.
These people are going to be standing right in front of it.
And the words United States of America above the windows is what you see.
It's the most, it really is a dynamic place, the Reagan Library.
It is a gorgeous, it's beautiful.
And this rumor they're going to be is just ideal for something like this.
I think, folks, and I don't want to come off here as polyamish or Miss America pageant contestant type.
And I don't mean to be insulting there, but you know what I mean when you get the questions and answers.
It's just this debate is not going to be a debate about issues.
This is going to be a, I don't know what.
Everybody's going to be ganging up on one guy here tonight.
It wouldn't matter who the guy is.
Anyway, I got to take a break here.
I'm up against it on time.
We'll come back and I'll evolve and develop my thought.
I get back.
Rush Limbaugh, the EIB network.
One of the things we know is going to happen tonight, in view of the venue, Reagan Library.
Reagan's comments, Reagan's past comments about immigration are probably going to be used like a cudgel on Trump.
Reagan signed Simpson Mazzoli 1986.
And if Reagan were alive today, he would tell you, yeah, they told me they were going to secure the border and it'd be hitting.
And they never did.
The border never ever got secured.
Simpson Mazzoli legalized via amnesty.
About 3 million illegal immigrants.
And all the advocates assured us that that would be it.
New border security would fix the problem and amnesty for those 3 million.
And that was it.
Of course, here we are today.
We're looking at anywhere from, they say the number is 11 to 12 million.
It's probably closer to 20 million.
And they're promising the same thing today.
But it's going to be all-out warfare against Trump.
Now, given that, what modus operandi should Trump assume tonight?
Trump was asked, what is he doing to prepare for the debate?
I mean, he's going to show up.
I'm just who I am.
I'll be who I am.
I mean, prepare for the debate.
I study a bunch of stuff.
I already know it.
I know what I'm going to do.
I know what my plan is.
It's going to be interesting to see because everybody aligned against Trump comes from the position that he's got no business being there, that he is fooling everybody that's supporting him, that he's not qualified, that he's not serious, that he's not conservative, that he portends great danger for conservatism in the future and the future of the movement.
There's also something else, which you will hear in the audio soundbites coming up.
A number of people in the media, conservative media and elsewhere, are already imploring Trump to be nice to Ben Carson.
Don't attack Ben Carson.
Ben Carson is, depending on the poll, either tied with Trump or very, very close.
And it's as though Ben Carson can't take care of himself.
All these people, it's almost like, hey, be nice to Little Ben here.
Do not, don't, please, Donald, don't go after Ben Carson.
As though Ben Carson can't take care of himself.
We assure you, I assure you he can.
Let's get started with the audio soundbites.
Last night, Trump offended everybody by showing up on the battleship USS Iowa, standing in front of the three giant guns to make his speech at a rally.
It bothered him that he dared show up on the Iowa.
They thought he was gaming the system because, of course, the Iowa caucus, the Hawkeye cauckey, hears Trump speaking on the U.S. Iowa, which is a decommissioned battleship.
By the way, Trump sent out a tweet.
You know, I don't spend any time on Twitter, so this was sent to me.
I would have not known this had my brother not sent it to me.
He sent me a screenshot of it, and I've got it's way in the distance here.
He says, it's a tweet from Trump.
It says, Rush, I'm in L.A. And he's looking at property to make a deal out there.
And in parentheses, creating lots of jobs.
And I'm listening to you.
You are truly fantastic.
Thanks.
I can't see what time the tweet went out.
It's up there.
I've got it on a secondary monitor way out in front of me here.
I should have printed it so I had it in front of me.
And then he mentioned me again in his remarks last night.
This is just a portion.
We have a number of cuts or soundbites.
Here's the first.
I took a tremendous hit when I brought up illegal immigration when I announced I was running for president.
And for two weeks, I said, you know, Rush Limbo, who's a great guy, he said he has suffered more incoming, meaning the press, than anybody I've seen.
So what happened is you have now found out what illegal immigration is all about.
And I am so happy that I'm the one that brought it to the fore because, believe me, it's a big problem.
It is a big problem.
Yeah, I don't care what anybody says.
He's right about that.
If he hadn't brought this issue up, it would just be languishing there as a fait accompli that both parties support.
The Republican Party would be trying to massage us with all kinds of policy-wonkish kind of language to explain why we ought not be bothered.
Their policy is exactly what we need, they would be telling us.
But at the end of the day, it would be agreeing with the Democrats, executive amnesty authored by Obama that we all sign on to under the premise that we can't win without Hispanic votes.
If Trump had not brought this issue up the way that he has, nobody else would have.
And the fact that he did bring it up and the way he's dealing with it and what his opinions are and how he's expressing them is exactly why he's number one.
You know, we've spent a lot of time talking about this the past three days.
I want to avoid being redundant, but the disconnect between Washington and the rest of the country, and it's not really a disconnect as I've explained.
They know full well that we're upset and disagree and don't want any part of their agenda.
They know it.
It's not that they're unaware.
They know full well they're governing against the will of their voters or of the majority.
And that's where they've been caught here.
And Trump is the one who has enabled this issue to rise to the forefront and illustrate this great disconnect.
But make no mistake about the elites or whatever you want to call them inside the beltway.
They are well aware of a vast majority of people opposing amnesty, comprehensive immigration reform or whatever.
And if it hadn't been for Trump, then this would have been just another one of these issues where the insiders in Washington get their way and there would have been added frustration, more anger, and people, I think, in greater numbers would have just left the political system and tuned out, not planning on voting, being totally frustrated once again.
And you add the Iran deal on top of that, it would have just meant more frustration and anger aimed at Washington than we've seen in a long time.
So he's absolutely right that he single-handedly has given voice to the majority opinion on this issue.
And as such, that's why he's the target tonight.
Here's the next bite from Trump last night aboard the USS Iowa.
I'm fighting some very nice people, even though I'm leading in the polls.
But they're very nice people.
But they're never going to do anything with these countries.
They're never going to be able to do it.
It's an instinct.
It's something that's special.
They don't have it.
Believe me, they don't have it.
It's just going to be more of the same.
So, we're going to make our country so great.
We are going to make it strong.
We are going to make it powerful.
We're going to rebuild the military.
We're going to make it so strong.
We are going to take care of our veterans.
This soundbite is a great example.
It illustrates something.
This soundbite is something that the inside the beltwight crowd, the elites of both parties will point to and say, see, I mean, anybody go out and say that.
We're going to be strong.
I'm going to rebuild the military.
I'm going to make it happen.
I'm a great guy.
I'm rich.
I'm going to rebuild the military.
These guys aren't going to do it.
They're going to take us.
And they're going to say.
He didn't say how.
He doesn't tell you how he's going to do it.
He's insulting everybody in the military right now.
He's telling everybody involved, from the president on down, they don't know what they're doing, but he does.
But he doesn't tell you how.
So why are you applauding this?
Anybody get out there and say, I'm going to make America strong.
I'm going to make America great.
If I may be permitted, and I'm sure there are exceptions, but the simple fact is, I don't hear too many people talking about how to make America great again.
To me, that's one of the problems.
I mean, I'm not trying to be insulting to anybody.
There are clearly Republican candidates who do and have, I could list them.
We all know them.
Cruz, Carson, Rubio, any number of them.
But the people that we're talking about that are diametrically, humongously opposed to Trump, they're the ones that seem to have lost this ability to think of America as great, as unique, as exceptional, as a superpower.
It seems like this attitude that America's days of greatness and stature are indeed over.
And the job now is to manage a new America in a new world in this new position.
And the American people don't want any part of that.
The American people don't want to hear talk of decline.
They don't want to hear, even if it's not directly talked about, they don't want to hear anything that implies that America's best days are behind us.
So Trump coming along, his track record is not in government, his track record in business.
People can look at that track record and they can be confident that they are confident that what he says he's going to make America great again and rebuild the military, that he means it and that he's going to do it.
Whether they're right or wrong, I don't know.
I'm just trying to explain to people why this stuff does not disqualify Trump to people supporting him, whereas it does with the people who don't support him.
You've got the policy wonks who want every statement like, I want America great again to rebuild the military.
Yeah, what's the policy?
How are you going to do it?
How are you going to get Democrats to go along with it?
They want all these kinds of things answered.
And to them, that's politics as usual.
I mean, the Trump supporters, that's politics as usual, which is what Trump represents, not politics as usual.
He doesn't start out with constraints.
He doesn't start out with, I can't do it this way, can't do it that way.
He doesn't start out.
He starts out with the great bold premise, which is the American way.
It's not a mystery to me why people support the guy.
Quick timeout.
We'll be back.
Sit tight.
Don't go away.
And let's hit the phones.
Find out what excitement's lurking there.
We'll go to Palm Coast, Florida.
This is Patrick.
I'm glad you called, sir.
Great to have you on the program.
Hi, Rush.
I just have a question.
Do you think the bombastic bully Donald Trump is now the underdog in the debate?
The bombastic bully Donald Trump, the underdog in the debate.
Has anything I said given you that idea, or is that your original thought and question?
Well, I just look at the underdog is always everybody's favorite.
And also, he's united the Republican Party against him, along with the Democrat Party is against him.
So he's also a uniter, the way I look at it.
So where does this underdog come?
The fact that everybody's against a guy, that makes him an underdog?
Well, you got the presidential, you get the, you can see the campaigns, his opponents run ads against him, which is fair.
But then you have other groups run ads against him.
You've got the vice president out talking against him.
You've got people showing up at his rallies protesting him.
Yeah, you've got Obama now commenting on him indirectly.
You've got Biden out there talking.
You've got a Club for Growth announcing going to run a million-dollar ad campaign against the guy.
No, you're right about that.
That's what I said.
Top of the program.
We know what this is going to be.
Every gun trained on Trump tonight.
Every gun, political gun, every political gun.
Now, in that atmosphere, let me just ask you, Patrick, given that is a pretty accurate prediction of the scenario tonight, do you expect there to be any substantive discussion of issues, which is what all those people inside the beltway say is needed?
I think they're going to pivot most of the questions to something they want to talk about, and then there'll be something, a second pivot, as an attack towards Trump.
So look for the second pivot to be the attack towards Trump.
Yeah.
That's a good point.
You know, when the phone rings, somebody calls you.
The old coach Al McGuire and Mark had always said this.
It's the third thing.
Hey, Rush, how are you doing, buddy?
Just fine.
What's up?
Hey, you know what?
I'm looking fine.
You know, I really need something.
The third thing they get to is the reason they called.
Try that.
Whenever the phone rings, no, the third thing the caller brings up is the real reason.
So what you're saying here, there's going to be all kinds of original things brought up and then a pivot here.
And eventually the real objective is going to be seen.
And, well, look, you said earlier that all of these ads and all these speeches against Trump, it's all fair.
And it is.
This is politics.
I mean, we do have a debate tonight, and there is a clear runaway leader.
And this is make it or break time for a lot of these people.
They've got one shot.
And the theory is there simply isn't time to shine so brightly that you rise above those ahead of you.
You've got to tear them down.
You've got to go out there and you've got to destroy them.
And that's probably going to happen.
Now, the surprise will be that somewhere on that stage, there are going to end up being one or two allies of Trump in the midst of all these assaults who are going to try to gain favor with Trump supporters by not joining that fray.
It's going to be a free-for-all.
And I think, you know, what do you think the best way for Trump to deal with it is?
What kind of attitude should he cop?
Behavioral model should he be following?
What should he do?
Should he join it, fists, start shouting back, or stand above it and let the others appear to be napping at the ankles like a bunch of chihuahuas.
No, no, no.
Any number of strategies here.
But I have to try to put some of this in context.
There are, you can't turn on television if you watch cable news.
You can't turn it on without hearing an attack on Trump every other minute, either from a guest on a show or the host of a show.
And I'm talking about all networks.
Or then they might run an excerpt from an ad against Trump that somebody is running.
All right?
So no matter where you go, you cannot miss.
And then if you read the newspaper, you find out about, like I just mentioned, a Club for Growth.
They're going to run a $1 million ad campaign against Trump.
So no matter where you go, you see the equivalent of anti-Trump messages.
You see Trump attacks everywhere.
Now, where is Trump in the midst of all this?
He's at the top of the heap, right?
He's the only guy close to him so far, Ben Carson, in a couple of polls.
So the question is, if the constant 24-7 attacks on Trump in the drive-by media and on the cable news channels are not enough to bring him down, how are a bunch of ads going to do it?
But could something happen on this stage tonight that would blow the Trump campaign to Smithereens?
Could something happen?
And if so, what is it?
Okay, the first debate, we heard that it was donors sent out the command to candidates to take Trump out.
And didn't happen to look like the network did.
Now, the word has gone out that Carly Fiorina has been instructed to take Trump out, given that he made negative comments about her face.
