Time Text
Meeting and surpassing all audience expectations, everyday Rush Limbaugh, documented to be almost always right 99.7% of the time, according to the latest audit of my opinions by the Sullivan Group, now in Rancho Cucamanga, California.
They keep moving.
Telephone numbers 800-282-2882.
If you want to be on the program, an email address, lrushbo at EIBnet.com.
Okay, folks, it is time to get into the Mrs. Clinton chapter today of the latest news involving Mrs. Clinton in the email server and what it all might mean to the future Mrs. Clinton Democrat Party.
Oh, one other little, let me get one other thing about Israel, the elections today.
And it is about the Arab population.
And there's no question that the Arab population, if this is, if it holds true to form in the past, the Arab population will be a factor.
According to the Daily Beast, 75% of the Arab population in Israel participated in the 1999 election that swept the labor candidate Ehud Barak to the premiership.
It was a disaster, but nevertheless, he won.
That is a huge percentage.
75, the Arab population of 1.7 million Arabs living, working, breathing, enjoying total free democracy in Israel.
It's stunning.
It would be one of the things, if you ever go to Israel, if you've never been, it would stand out how many Arabs there are.
And the reason why you've been told the Arabs hate the Jews.
You've been told the Arabs hate the Israelis.
You've been told all this.
And you see them walking around with full-fledged rights.
They've got access to everything anybody else has in Israel.
Water, food.
They vote.
They've got more freedom and democracy in Israel than in many of their home countries.
But it'll shock you.
If you arrive in Israel and all you know is the conventional wisdom story that the Arabs hate the Jews and the Jews hate the Arabs, you're going to be stunned.
You would be.
The population, the Arab population of 1.7 million in Israel today, and back in 1999, 75% of that population showed up to vote and they secured victory for Ehud Barak.
That's an amazing turnout, folks.
So I imagine they used the equivalent of busing, whatever that may in fact be, busing.
Now, in the 2009 elections that Netanyahu won, the Arab turnout was 53%.
53% versus 75% back in 1999.
That's not much to go on.
There's a widespread date range there.
But it does illustrate the impact that the Arab population has on Israeli elections.
And I guarantee you, just once again, people only know Israel and the Middle East by virtue of watching drive-by media coverage would be shocked and stunned at the number of Arabs living peacefully within the confines of Israel in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv.
Now, Mrs. Clinton, this is a fascinating little addendum to the server story.
As you know, ladies and gentlemen, I've made a note many times here that my hobby is staying abreast with gadget high-tech.
And it's now become even more than that.
Now it has become a way that I study the social political trends of millennials.
Because most of the tech blogger community fits into that demographic.
And it's fascinating.
It's fascinating to read what they write, to listen to the things they say, because they're like all young people.
I think they know it all.
They think they know everything.
Older people don't know beans.
They're old-fashioned.
They're squirts.
They're just to be tolerated.
But the young are hip, and the young are cool, and the young know what's what and what's not.
And it's, I remember when I was that age, and I remember the humility I had.
I always, when I was that age, I never thought I knew more than people older than I. Exceptions, of course.
I mean, if you're around somebody that's been an idiot all their life and doesn't know anything, that's, but as a general sense, I always had enough humility and respect for older people that they, to me, they were resources for advice, knowledge, and learning and so forth.
This group, I don't think that's the case so much.
But I found this piece interesting because this is from the Dvorak news blog.
It's by a guy named Mark Perkle.
And he has outlined how Mrs. Clinton left her email wide open to anyone.
He spends his entire post here documenting how absolutely risky and silly and dangerous Mrs. Clinton's home server setup was.
And at the end of it, says he would still vote for her because the Republicans suck.
Now, let me give you what's in between.
The reason that her emails were for a time, and by the way, he's right.
For a time, her emails were wide open.
There was nothing secure or encrypted about them.
It works this way.
Not often do we break news here on the Dvorak news, but today we do.
Hillary Clinton used a spam filtering service, MXLogic, to filter her spam and viruses.
What this means is that employees at MXLogic, now owned by McAfee, had full access to all of her classified State Department email in unencrypted form.
And then he provides links to the MX records for clintonemail.com for the various domains.
Now, we were talking the other day because somebody asked me, well, hey, could I have a home server?
Could I set up my own email like Mrs. Clinton?
Yeah, anybody can.
Because any computer can be made into a server for all intents and purposes.
Server is just a hard drive.
It's the software that makes the server.
But I said, if you do that, you're taking on everything.
You're taking on the SSL security.
You've got to pay for the security, the sockets.
You've got to do all the spam filtering.
If you're going to run the email, your email, you've got to buy a domain.
So if you want your own email address rather than go through iCloud or Gmail or Yahoo or AOL or wherever, if you want to have your own domain, then you've got to do your own spam filter.
You have to do everything yourself.
You have to administer it, which means, in Mrs. Kenton's case, you have to go hire somebody to do it because she doesn't know this stuff.
And Bill doesn't know this stuff.
She did this for utter privacy.
We know she did this for privacy.
She did this precisely and specifically to avoid oversight.
And we know this because James Carville admitted it.
This is not even a matter of speculation anymore.
Carvel admitted it Sunday on this week on ABC when he said, well, imagine she didn't want Louie Gomez.
Rothman throw email.
Here, listen to the sound bite.
This is how it happened Sunday morning.
ABC's this week with George Stephanopoulos.
It was something that she did.
It was legal.
I suspect she didn't want Louie Gomez rifling through her emails, which seems to me to be a kind of reasonable position for someone to take.
So it amounts to, just like everything else before it, it amounts to nothing but a bunch of people flapping their jaws about nothing.
Right, but that's not what it is.
It's not flapping her jaws about nothing.
She set up this private server specifically to avoid any oversight by either the State Department where she worked or Congress.
And that's not legal.
Despite what Carville says, Carville, I maintain when I played this somebody yesterday, I maintained that the Carville of 20 years ago would not have made this mistake.
If this were the 1990s, where the Clintons still clearly think it is in terms of the way they can strategize and beat this stuff, Carville would have never given up the ghost this way.
And everybody knows that he did.
We have a little montage from yesterday and last night.
Ron Fournier, Mark Halpern, it's a whole bunch of people commenting, as I did yesterday, what you just heard Carville say.
What Carville did is give up the goods.
He gave up the goods.
He sold her up.
Carville says he suspects Hillary Clinton withheld the emails because she didn't want congressional oversight.
What Carville essentially said was she was doing this to hide stuff.
Jim Carvo is apparently saying, don't believe what she said last week.
James Carville revealed the truth.
James is saying it wasn't convenience.
And with friends like that, you don't need Ken Starr.
And that last voice, of course, and Maria Mitchell, NBC News in Washington.
So everybody agrees Carville blew it by admitting that what Mrs. Clinton was doing with a private server was hiding.
She did not want congressional oversight.
She didn't want anybody to be able to see what she was doing.
And there are many countless reasons for that.
She is soliciting donations to the Clinton Family Foundation from foreign governments, from foreign businesses, for who knows what purpose down the road.
And I'm telling you, I tell you today, as I told you yesterday, the Democrats are flat out nervous as they can be about that.
They don't care that she had a private server.
They can handle that.
They don't care that she didn't want Louis Gormert reading it.
They can handle that.
They got the media on their side.
If that's all this was, no sweat.
The problem is all of that money that she was soliciting.
The problem is all of those donations that she was soliciting for the Clinton Family Foundation.
Now that we know in some cases from who and how much, I mean, it leads to clear conflict of interest problems.
And Ron Fournier is back again today with yet another piece on how damaged Hillary is and how precarious her position is and how the Democrats are scared to death.
I'm beginning to, Ron Fournier's had six or seven pieces on this now.
And I'm beginning to think he may know something that has yet to surface about this because, I mean, he's not pulling any punches.
He's not saying if this and if that, then she could be interested.
He is saying flat out the Democrats are scared to death about the foundation.
But before we get, let's go back to this email business and the fact that despite the fact she did this to keep it from everybody that she was hiding, she didn't want anybody to see her emails, she inadvertently made it possible for every one of those emails to be disseminated publicly.
It didn't happen, but she made it possible by virtue of her choice.
She hired a spam filtering service.
Now, you, you have an email account, say a Gmail or iCloud, or I don't care where it is.
They provide the spam service for you.
It's the junk filter.
And you can turn it on and you can change the sensitivity.
And the risk is that a bunch of stuff you need is going to be determined as junk or spam.
And it's going to be sent off to the junk or spam folder.
And if you don't regularly check what's in there, you may miss something important.
So spam filters are actually very precise things.
You can enhance or decrease the sensitivity.
If you decrease the sensitivity, you're going to get a lot of junk in your inbox.
That's going to clog it up and frustrate you, and you have to manually put it in another folder.
You can increase the sensitivity, but a professional spam filtering service allows you to designate, you get an email that's spam.
You can designate the incoming email address to the spam filter, and anything ever again arriving with that email address automatically goes there.
And spam filtering services are good, bad, better, best.
It's just depending on what you want to pay for it, who you want to buy and how detailed with it you want to get.
But it's something you have to do if you are going to set up your own server in your basement like the Clintons did in Chappaquar, wherever the heck it was.
In her case, the filtering service she used is MXLogic.
And what happens in a nutshell is that all email is encrypted, both sent and received.
But when the spam filter gets it, the spam filter decrypts it.
And this all happens in microseconds, by the way.
The spam filter gets the email, it decrypts it, it searches it, scans it, determines what its state is, then re-encrypts it and sends it on.
Now, there are human beings that work at these spam filtering services.
And every email that comes in is for a time decrypted.
And anybody working at the spam filtering service, well, not anybody, but certain people, certain clearances, could have access, in this case, to every email that arrived on Mrs. Clinton's server.
I mean, that's, it's just part and parcel of the process.
So if you're Mrs. Clinton right now, if you're Bill Clinton, if anybody, if you're Huma, if you're anybody that had an address on that server, you don't know.
You can't be sure that some of those emails haven't been seen.
You can't be sure that some of those emails weren't copied.
You can't be sure that some of those emails weren't saved and being held for potential later use.
The odds are it didn't happen, but that's not the point.
The point is it's entirely possible because it does happen.
The emails end up decrypted for a time while the spam filter does.
I'm really shortening the process here of explanation.
But basically, mail comes to your server from the internet and then is decrypted and goes through the spam filter.
After the spam filter finishes with it, it's then re-encrypted and sent to your server.
So the point is it does not arrive first at your server.
It goes to your spam service first.
And depending on who's at the spam service and depending on how curious they are and depending on a whole bunch of human characteristics and factors, people at the spam service could have no interest and not care or you could have some pay, you know, this is Hillary Clinton's email.
It's Clinton email.
Oh, wow, I wonder what, and anything is possible.
That's the point.
This is one of the reasons why they have rules in government that you use their servers because they control all of this.
They own the spam service.
They own every aspect.
The emails from time they hit the internet to the state employee's server, it never leaves government control.
And that's why the rules are in place.
In Mrs. Clinton's case, her emails made a stop before they got to her server.
And at that stop, they were decrypted.
They were plain text English.
Anybody could have read them.
So the point is they weren't secure.
She's doing all this ostensibly for security and privacy, keeping away from prying eyes.
And we also now know that she was doing this to avoid congressional oversight.
Yes, I just saw the clock.
I know.
We've got to tick of it.
So here, ladies and gentlemen, is the bottom line regarding Mrs. Clinton and her servers and all this.
While that email, after it comes from the internet to the spam service, in Mrs. Clinton's case, this is McAfee.
They own the spam service, MXLogic.
While that email is at the spam service being investigated for spam, anybody who works at the spam service, who has access to the spam filtering system,
can read any email coming into Mrs. Clinton's domain, which means that, say, Vladimir Putin could bribe somebody at this spam service to send him anything that mentions him or Ukraine or whatever or Iran, whatever he wants.
Forward it.
If somebody at the spam service works actually at the filtering system, spam services have a lot of employees and a lot of things.
If somebody's involved in the actual filtering system, when the email's decrypted, they can tap on it.
They see it in an inbox just like you have it.
Tap and read any email going to the Clinton address, the domain.
And that means that any employee there would be subject to being bribed.
Or if the employee may not be the employee, it could just be a plant.
The point is, Mrs. Clinton's emails, and we know that official email having to do with her Secretary of State duties, arrived on her server.
The point is, before it got to her server, it went through her spam filtering service.
And while it's there, it's decrypted.
And anybody in the actual filtering service department at the spam filter company could tap into it and read it.
And then forward it on to, say, a Putin or a Yang Ying Lang or whoever.
It's possible is the point.
Now, just one thing before we go back to the phones, ladies and gentlemen, the little tech blogger who provided much of the information I just passed on to you regarding McAfee, Mrs. Clinton's spam filter, and how it all works in this.
And by the way, this company, McAfee, was hacked by a bunch of white hat hackers back in March 2011.
A white hat hacker is a hacker that hacks something to help the hacked find out how they can be hacked and cover it up.
A white hat hacker is somebody that exposes vulnerabilities in assistance in helping people close them.
A black hat hacker is a criminal.
So White Hat hackers released a report that they had identified serious vulnerabilities to security at McAfee.com.
This company owns Mrs. Clinton Service 2011.
It's when this thing was up and running.
There were vulnerabilities in the spam server company she was using.
And they pointed out flaws that could have led to information disclosure and other issues.
Anyway, the little tech blogger who I just want to read the end of his post here.
What email went through this system that could have been tapped?
Emails about Libya, Syria, Egypt, Israel, Putin, ISIS, the bin Laden raid, Chelsea's wedding guest list.
Oh my God.
Shouldn't the Secretary of State of the United States use a server that isn't weak?
And then I have been a Clinton supporter.
If she's the candidate, I would still vote for her in the general election over any Republican.
Yuck.
But in the primary, I still dream of Elizabeth Warren, but I'll settle for Biden.
And isn't that just a little sad?
The bottom line, none of this would have happened if she had just played by the rules.
See, here is some, this is what I mean by they think they're smarter than everybody else.
Who's been totally exposed as a fraud, as somebody trying to act in secret and botching it big time, exposing her work to vulnerability and who knows what kind of danger.
And the guy said, I'd still vote for her over any Republican.
Yuck.
And they think they're smart.
They think they're the brightest people out there.
Anyway, back to the phones where we go.
Dave in Albuquerque.
I'm glad you waited, sir.
Great to have you on the EIB network.
Hello.
Hey, Rushboe.
Earlier in your show, you mentioned how Clinton appeased Arafat, and Arafat actually did a quant peace, but all of which is factual.
But haven't we at the U.S. or Republicans done the same to Israel over the last several years by giving them a blank check to really do whatever they want with it?
And a lot of our support for Israel comes from a misinterpretation of scripture.
They're not the prophet land anymore.
But let me ask you this, Rush.
What has Israel done for us as a country?
And more than that, why do you support the Jews so much when they're all so liberal?
Well, it's not a question of supporting Jews.
That's not the way I look at this.
You obviously do.
I do not.
By the way, this moral equivalence that you've set up doesn't exist either.
There is no similar in what Israel has been offered in a negotiation with the Palestinians that comes even close to what Clinton offered Arafat.
I mean, Arafat's making demand, left, demand, right?
Arafat's demanding all kinds of things, and Clinton gave it to him, and he turned it down.
And the point of that is Arafat, when given everything, when given a solution, when given a Palestinian state, when given everything he demanded, walked away from it because he didn't want a solution.
I don't know what the equivalent that you think is that we have offered Israel.
They are an ally.
So, yeah, we provide them with money.
But they are an ally.
They have been an ally since their founding days.
You know, what Israel does for us, that's a sad question.
Israel represents the same Judeo-Christian democratic values that we represent and stand for the world over.
But to me, this has nothing to do with biblical prophecy or any of that.
This is straight.
I mean, it's involved, but as far as I'm concerned, I don't, I'm not even taking that into account here.
This is a strict geopolitical deal.
This is good versus evil, as far as I'm concerned.
I don't know what the, I really don't understand the concept here, how people like you do not understand the concept of good and evil, good guys and bad guys, and how it never seems to fail.
We're not the good guys anymore.
Or maybe that's sometimes in question, and it isn't.
I believe in the United States of America all the time.
I don't believe we're perfect.
I don't believe that we have done things perfectly.
I don't believe we haven't made mistakes.
But I'm nowhere near selling out my own country.
I'm nowhere near and selling out allies, which is what we've been doing lately.
But I don't know what the commensurate is.
If Clinton offered Arafat everything he wanted, I don't think we've ever offered Israel everything.
We've always told, depending on the administration, Israel has always been asked to give something up.
Usually land.
Israel is attacked and wins wars and claims territory, and everybody says, you've got to give it back.
You know what it is?
Well, we were minding our own business.
We were attacked.
And they still give up the land.
They make concession after concession.
They've got a nine-mile-wide country at its narrowest.
They at one point had the goal on the heights to give that away.
And now you've got the president of the United States is actually running around condemning our ally and painting our ally as the problem in that region.
I don't know what the equivalent is.
I don't know where we are giving Israel everything and anything it wants, and I don't know that we ever have.
That's my point.
We've been trying to broker a peace here ever since Israel was formed in 1947.
We've been trying to broker a peace with the same futility.
Everything is the same except the people change.
The diplomats change.
The secretaries of state change.
And the same thing in the other countries.
And yet the same arguments over and over again with never, ever any resolution.
In fact, this whole Israeli-Palestinian peace thing has become its own thing.
A solution is not even dreamed of anymore.
Anyway, I appreciate the call.
Nevertheless, Mark in Pittsburgh, you're next.
Great to have you on the EIB network.
Hello.
Mega, happy St. Patrick's Day dittos to you.
My question about the server is, how do you know the email was encrypted?
I've got 20 years experience in running email servers.
I own a small ISP.
And you don't have to encrypt to send and receive emails.
You can receive emails on port 110.
That's not encrypted.
That's always open.
You own your own email server.
You have a dedicated connection, so you're allowed to send out on port 25.
Talking about the spam filtering.
No, no, no.
I'm talking about the actual machine itself, the email server itself.
You know, it's either going to be a Linux box, Unix box, or a Microsoft Exchange.
I'm talking about what happens to email before it gets to her server.
Well, I'm saying is the email itself can be sent unencrypted by the server because the server supports it.
You don't know if she is sending the mail encrypted.
You have to set up your email client.
And even then, the email server may send out on port 25 by default.
You'd have to change that specifically.
That's all academic.
The point is what happens at the spam server.
She did not have her own spam server software.
She hired it, third party.
And it was there, supposedly, ostensibly, that the emails coming from the internet before getting to her server were decrypted and sent through the spam filter.
Happens in microseconds, understandably.
But if somebody is there at the time and is in that part of the company where they're doing the filtering, they could have access to the decrypted email that's coming in.
That's the whole point.
We don't know that it happened.
The point of this is that while Mrs. Clinton was doing all of this to stay hidden and to avoid detection, the fact is that she probably end up, she ran the risk of having every email she received or sent being exposed, potentially.
Don't know that it was.
But she defeated her own purpose here by the way and the virtue of the way she had things set up, according to the tech gods that have looked into her server setup and what she had running.
They've accessed it themselves.
Now I'm debating whether or not to tell a story.
I'll tell a story.
This snarky, and I'll leave the names up.
We just had this snarky caller who, what do you care about?
He says a bunch of Jews.
The Jews are all liberal.
What do you like the Jews for?
Clearly, a call filled with snark.
Now, the caller could have been one of two things.
Could have been an extreme, way, way out anarchist right-winger type, or could have been a dyed-in-the-wool leftist.
More than likely, the guy was a leftist.
And of course, I treated the caller with respect, and I did not respond to the snark.
It reminded me of a story.
I went on a guy golf trip.
I've told you about this trip before, I think.
I just can't remember if I used all the names.
I probably didn't.
So I won't now.
But it was, there may be some Hollywood actors on this trip, some morning TV stars on this trip.
And as usual, I was the circus act.
I was invited to provide the political yucks.
Everybody else on this guest list was either agnostic or highly liberal.
And I knew it, but it was a trip to Ireland and Scott.
I said, what the hell, I'll go.
Play golf over there.
I'll put up with it.
I can handle it.
I knew full well that I was the circus act.
It just happens.
So we get on the plane.
We have to stop in New York.
We leave here.
We stop in New York to pick up the New York contingent.
We're going to head on over to Ireland overnight.
Get off the plane over there, start playing golf.
And one of the Hollywood actors gets on the plane, I can just tell he's looking around trying to find me, just trying to find me, spots me, comes walking down, sits across the aisle, and immediate first thing he says to me, and his father's well known, and first thing he says to me is, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I asked him how his father was.
How's your dad doing?
Is your dad okay?
Yeah, he's reading the Talmud.
You know what that is?
And I said, the Talmud?
Sure, I know what that is.
Well, that's what he's doing.
It probably really bothers you, doesn't it?
No, not at all.
In fact, I'm not surprised he's reading the Talmud at his age.
Is he enjoying it?
Is it helping?
Is it?
The guy was floored because the guy expected me to be an anti-Semite, you know, whatever his character of a conservative right winger was.
And he was, he was, I actually stunned that I knew what the Talmud was and then stunned that I didn't put on some public display of disgust or whatever.
That's not the first time that happened.
I also, back the era of my first book, I happened to be invited to an Oscar night watching party somewhere down in the village in Manhattan.
At that time, the CEO of HBO's house told you about this.
This is a Ron Silver moment.
And I'm in there with my book editor.
And Ron Silver comes in and blows a gasket.
Carly Simon came and blew a gasket that I was even there.
And the hit honcho of HBO made a point.
I said, hi, I'm glad to be here.
This is nice of you to have me.
I just want you to know I'm a Jew and I'm proud to be.
Fine.
What the hell?
Dude, fine.
You're a proud Jew.
Cool.
I love Israel.
What is this?
The caricatures that these people have, and I think this caller had it, you know, the same thing.
And to me, this whole Israeli-Palestinian thing, I mean, supporting Israel for me is not a big, because they're Jewish.
It has nothing to do with the Bible.
I mean, I can go there if you want me to, but I support Netanyahu because he's one of us.
Same values, same ideology, same decency.
It has nothing to do with anybody's religion.
But I'll tell you, this is what the people on the left, they accused everybody else of being, what is it, sexist or racist or what?
They are the most surface-oriented people.
They judge everybody on the surface characteristics, what they look like, what their sexual orientation is, what their gender is, their skin color is.
That's how they look at people.
That's how they decide whether they like them or not.
That's how they judge them.
Certainly not me.
I couldn't care less about any of that.
But boy, these people are just, they're so lost in their little cocoons where they live with all of this prejudice and bile.
And they've convinced themselves that they're right about it.
And then they're encountered, they run into people like me and they are convinced.
And when it doesn't play out, they're totally confused, shocked, stunned.
And from that moment, I was ignored for the rest of the golf trip.
I was totally ignored because I wasn't going to be any fun.
On the flight home, flight home from wherever it was, Scotland, flight home, I finally decided to throw down and I started getting into political discussions.
For the first time in the trip, first time, I wasn't going to be the circus act.
That's what I was invited, but I wasn't going to give them the satisfaction.
On the flight home, somebody brought up Bob Graham, Senator.
Now, that just wants, so we started talking about politics, and the host looked at me with a smile, but actually somewhat angry.
Where the hell has this been?
They were hoping for this.
It was like a 10-day trip, seven or 10-day trip.
Anyhow, I have to take a break, my friends.
But we've got more.
We always do right after this.
Don't go away.
No, I knew what the guy from Pittsburgh was saying.
He was asking me, why do we think Hillary's emails were encrypted at all?
She would have been an idiot for them not to be.
Are you kidding me?
But we know that she is on matters like this, probably an idiot.
So I guess it could be, but I just here we go.
