The views expressed by the host on this program documented to be almost always right.
99.7% at a time.
Rushlin bought the EIB network.
It's Friday, so let's keep rolling.
Live from the Southern Command in Sunny South Florida.
It's open line Friday.
800-282-2882.
If you want to be on the program, the email address, L Rushbo at EIB net.com.
So I checked the email as I always do.
Rush, what are you talking about?
Diet stuff.
I'm amazed.
Can I can I say something here?
You kill the music for a second.
Just kill it.
It is very rare, ladies and gentlemen, that I share my frustrations on this program, at least with members of the audience.
I well document my frustrations on many other things.
But for example, I'm going to go back and cover some previous ground.
This business with Rudy and saying that he just doesn't think Obama loves the country.
Why is this such a surprise that anybody would think this?
Could somebody let me throw some gasoline on this?
All right.
For all of you who think that Rudy's just out out of bounds.
This is just uncalled for.
You can't say that.
Somebody, I'm open to it.
Somebody give give me, give me call.
Right.
Give me the reasons, the examples that you've seen where you are confident that Obama loves this country like you do.
Maybe you can, I don't know.
But I would think it's like this business with Obamacare.
I am.
And people not knowing about the subsidies.
And not knowing about the fines, not knowing about the date that you have to sign up, not knowing that if you don't sign up, you pay a fine, not knowing that the fines escalate year after year until finally the fines become more expensive in the policy.
All of this is by design.
And I'm I'm I'm just flabbergasted by the number of people that profess not to know it.
I guess I shouldn't be, right?
So I mentioned in the previous hour in talking about Obamacare that the primary reason that people like Obama and all these Democrats wanted it was not because they really care about your health.
It's because they want more and more control over the way you live.
Now, you may be it may be a legitimate question to ask Rush, why do they want so much control over the way people live?
That that's a question that I can understand.
I would be glad to tackle it.
Most people do not want to totally control the way other people live.
There are control freaks, obviously, but most of us were live and let live type people.
And so when you say that the whole Democrat Party or the Obama administration is hellbent on controlling the way people live, if you don't have that kind of a mindset, an authoritarian, superior, uh totalitarian view of things, of course you're not going to understand it.
Uh but it's all rooted in power.
It's all rooted in the in the belief they have that there is possible a utopia.
But it can't happen if you leave people alone, because people are imperfect.
It's even worse than that.
Not only are people not perfect, not only people imperfect, they're flawed deeply, and they will never en masse do the right thing.
They're gonna have to be corraled, lassoed, and made to do the right thing, and it's gonna be the Democrats that get to define what the right thing is.
The right way to eat, the right car to drive, the right way to speak.
When is the right way to speak?
When you can speak, when you cannot speak.
All of these things.
They just do not trust people.
They don't trust people to live responsibly.
They it's actually more than that.
They don't trust people to behave the way liberals want everybody to behave.
And liberals cannot possibly be live and let live people.
Everybody has to think the way they do, and if you don't, hello political correctness.
Everybody has to live the way they do.
And if you don't, they're gonna come after you.
Everybody has to think the way they do.
And if you don't, everybody has to talk the way they do.
And this is inarguable.
It is who they are.
And the evidence is abundant.
It's all around us.
And it has been every day for I don't know how many decades now.
Now it may be, it may be gruesome or shocking to hear somebody like me, who you trust, assert that they really don't care about your health, that they want this for other reasons.
It may be hard to believe, but don't doubt me on this.
This, if if Obamacare was actually about health care, there are so many better ways to reform our health care system.
Clearly it needed some reforms.
Nobody's saying that it was perfect.
Nobody was saying that it wasn't broken in certain areas, but it didn't need this kind of overhaul.
But plus, folks, there's no evidence that government taking it over and running it is going to fix anything because you can't point to me anything the government does run that works as designed.
You can't point to a federal program that's on budget.
You can't point to a federal program that's accomplished its objective.
I can cite them one after another.
War on poverty.
I can cite all these things.
Even the military.
You put these people in charge of it, and they're going to goof it up.
And they have.
You put them in charge of foreign policy, they're going to goof it up.
There's no evidence that what they believe in works.
Yes.
But people have this implicit trust and faith in government.
And they have implicit trust and faith in the in the office of the of the presidency.
So in the last hour, I made mention of the fact that so many people didn't know about so many aspects of Obamacare and are just learning when they file their tax returns that they have to pay fines.
And that how much the fines are and how the fines are going to be collected by taking money from their untouchable.
You leave my refund alone.
That is mine.
That's the biggest collection of money I ever see in one year's time.
And you can't have, and that's where the IRS is going to get their fine payment from you if you owe it.
And you're either going to owe a fine or you're going to have to have insurance.
It's one way or the other.
There's no alternative.
There's no way, after they get all this ironed out, that you can go through life not having health insurance or paying for it one way or the other.
So in the process of describing how it is in answering anticipated questions about control, I gave examples of this latest effort they're making in determining how you eat.
So I get emails during the break.
Rush, well, you really think that why why do you why you're doing this 26 years?
Don't doubt me on this stuff.
It is crystal clear what this is all about.
It's all about control, and it's all about the fact that they actually do think they can construct a utopia, but the biggest impediment to it is you.
If left to your own devices, you're just not trustworthy.
You just can't be counted on to do what they want you to do in order for their utopia to be created.
Now that's an impossible premise to begin with.
There is no such thing as perfection.
Here are the details on the diet story.
First one, Washington Free Beacon.
The federal committee responsible for nutrition guidelines is calling for the adoption of plant-based diets, new taxes on dessert, trained obesity interventionists at work sites at your job, and electronic monitoring of how long you sit in front of the TV set.
The Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee released its far-reaching 571-page report of recommendations to the Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Department of Agriculture yesterday, which detailed its plans to transform the food system.
So Obama's transforming the country.
Now we're going to transform the food system.
The guidelines are used as the basis for government food assistance programs, nutrition education efforts, and for making decisions about national health objectives.
You see, it's all intertwined.
They have control over your health care.
They have control over whether or not when you get sick, you get treated.
They're going to have control over how you stay healthy.
They're going to get to define that.
You're going to stay healthy by eating what they say you have to eat.
By not sitting longer than they think you shouldn't sit.
By not watching television any longer than they think you shouldn't watch it.
And if you violate any of these guidelines, and then if you get sick, they are going to have grounds to deny you treatment because you violated the guidelines.
And you have shown that you may not be worthy of the investment of money and time to make you well.
There may be other Americans who have been more dutifully obedient to the guidelines, who have also gotten sick, who may be far more deserving of the government's compassion and treatment than you if you didn't listen to them.
This is how they exercise control.
This is how they intend to.
This is their dream, by the way.
This is the kind of stuff they live for.
This is the kind of power that they salivate over.
And they are damn close to acquiring it.
And this is this is not a story that 25 years ago this would have been a joke of a story.
We would have been laughing about it.
We would have had an update theme for it.
We would have been doing all kinds of comedy routines about it, while warning people if you keep voting for these people, this is what's going to happen.
But now, 25 years later, we're not speaking about it theoretically.
Here it is.
This is what they want to do.
They own the healthcare system now.
They own the FDA.
They own the agriculture department.
They can implement this anytime they want.
They've got the federal bureaucracy that can write regulations, read that as laws anytime they want without Congress being involved, and they do tens of thousands of times a year.
New regulations show up.
They become effectively laws or have the force of law, but they have never ever been debated in Congress.
They have not been signed into law by a president.
They're just new regulations that are issued.
This is the leftist view of government.
And all of it done under the guise of being for your own good, because without this, you'd sit there and continue to eat your Twinkies and your cereal in the morning and you'd put sugar on it, and you'd sit in front of the TV or your phone and stream video all day, and you get fat, dumb, and happy, and it wouldn't be enough that you'd vote Democrat all the time.
You might up and die on them before they want you to die, and you haven't been able to vote for them enough times.
They want to keep you alive so you keep voting for them.
But if you don't work with them on it, they're not going to be able to afford to make you well.
And that's exactly how they're going to look at it.
Here are the guidelines of what you have to eat and can't eat.
The guidelines on how much you can sit and how much you can't.
The guidelines of how much you have to move around and how much you can't.
The guidelines to how little TV you can watch or how much.
And they're going to keep track, by the way.
Then they're going to know by whether or not you become fat or otherwise sick.
And if they want to assign, let's let's say pick a pick pick a disease.
Pick any disease, pick the common cult.
If they want to claim that you have, no, no, let's not use the cold.
Let's come up with something that you actually would need treatment for.
Well, okay, let's pick heart disease.
Let's say you go in and you've got problems in your cardiovascular system.
Then they're going to examine the way you've lived.
Have you eaten what they've told you to eat or not?
Have you sat down longer than they've told you to sit down?
Have you watched more TV than you should have?
You're going to say, how do they know?
Don't joke with me.
How are they going to know?
There's any number of ways to keep track of you right now.
Many of them you make possible.
Doesn't matter.
They're going to know.
Even if they don't know, they're going to assume this is the point, folks.
Maybe they don't know.
You go in with cardiovascular disease.
They're just going to assume, because they know everything that you have violated the health guidelines, the dietary guidelines.
Maybe you haven't.
Maybe you followed them to a T and you still have cardiovascular disease.
They are going to be able, they are going to have the power to just proclaim you violated the dietary guidelines.
And as such, it may be questionable whether you have the money spent on you to be treated.
Depending on your age, your overall health, and whether or not you've shown loyalty to the regime.
There may be somebody younger than you who also has cardiovascular disease, but they've done everything right.
They may be more entitled to having their insurance policy actually rewarded and them get treatment.
They're going to have this power.
They want this kind of power.
Now they make you think that the dietary guidelines are for your own health.
They make you think that what they really care about is you not getting cardiovascular disease.
Oh, yeah, because they see they own this whole notion of compassion.
The Democrats own it.
And everybody thinks they're the ones that really care about you.
Republicans don't care.
They only care about the rich and Wall Street and Walmart.
But they don't care about you.
But the Democrats, oh, they care about the little guy.
They care about the disadvantaged.
They care about the disenfranchised.
They care about all the victims.
They care about every minority.
Yes, they're protecting the minority, and they're doing all these guidelines for you.
That's not why they're doing any of this.
They're doing this to give them reasons for further control over you.
Now, my point is none of their business what you eat.
It's none of their business how much you sit down.
It's none of their business how much television you watch.
But they make it their business once they control the health care industry.
Once they're in charge of the money required to treat whatever's wrong with you, they own you.
That's why they want it.
So all these little bumps in the road about, well, enrollment periods passed and a bunch of people haven't signed up, or people didn't know about the fines, or this and that's just that's just chump chain, small little bumps in the road.
We'll get those things ironed out because they're looking years and years down the line, down the road.
This dietary guidelines advisory committee proposed a variety of solutions to address obesity and its promotion of what it calls the culture of health.
The dietary guidelines advisory committee calls for diet and weight management interventions by trained interventionists in healthcare settings in community locations and at work sites, meaning the food Nazis can show up where you work and randomly test you.
Randomly measure you, randomly check you to see if you are in compliance.
I mean, it is what it is.
There's another story in the Washington Post, basically says the same thing.
Nation's top nutrition panel says the American diet is killing us.
It's everywhere today.
I gotta take a timeout here, folks.
I look at the clock, but sit tight, we'll be back.
Don't go away.
Let's see, what's the Washington Post say about this?
A new report by the Dietary Guidelines Advisory.
This is the same news reported here by the Washington Post.
Uh and this dietary guidelines advisory committee convenes every five years, says the rest of the American diet is having devastating effects.
Two-thirds of American adults are overweight or obese, and maybe worse, about half of American adults have preventable chronic diseases related to poor diet and physical inactivity, and we're just supposed to believe this.
You know how many conflicting stories we get every week about what'll kill you, and then they decide no it won't.
This'll make you sick.
Oh, wait a minute, we were wrong.
Caffeine was good, then it was bad.
The eggs are gonna kill you, now the eggs okay.
Cholesterol used to be for 20 years deadly.
Now they find out it's harmless.
Butter, have all of it you want.
Now they're telling us 117 million people have preventable chronic diseases related to poor disease.
They can save a hundred seventeen million lives.
That's how much they care they can save a hundred and seventeen million lives, and it's all bull.
It's all BS.
It's all designed to get you to acquiesce and sign on to this and surrender total control over as much of your life as you'll let them have.
For the first time, this committee is recommending that the government should consider the environment when telling Americans what they should eat, a move that could have significant impact on the amount of meat people eat.
This is the Obama administration is now incorporating the hoax of global warming into its dietary guidelines, which are going to come become mandatory at some point if they aren't stopped with this.
All under the guise of saving lives.
Yes.
Okay, let's head back to the phones.
It's open line Friday, Rush Lindbaugh.
Having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have.
You might say, in a way, what I have just described for you.
And by the way, I didn't describe it.
I just read to you from the news stories.
I interpreted new report, Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee.
117 million people have preventable chronic diseases related to poor diet that the liberals in government can fix.
117 million lives can be safe because the liberals care.
They know that you're killing yourself by virtue of what you're eating, and they can teach you how not to die.
They can teach you how to stay alive and what not to eat and all this.
Oh, the militant vegans are in, I mean, it's it's it's it's a nirvana for them.
And for the first time, the committee recommending the government should consider the environment, i.e., climate change and global warming, when telling Americans what they should eat, this is gonna be must eat before long, a move that could have a significant impact on the amount of meat people eat.
It also, ready for this, excuse me.
It also for the first time addressed concerns about coffee.
No, it's not the first time they've expressed concerns about coffee.
They have had panic over coffee.
I'm I'm 60, whatever it is years old, and my whole life.
It's either been up or down on coffee, up or down on the coffee bean, up or down on caffeine.
For the first time, the committee addressed concerns about coffee, saying that there is strong evidence that moderate consumption is not associated with long-term health risks.
Really?
Moderate consumption is okay.
What's moderate?
They get to define that.
They get to tell you and by the what is the assumption here that drinking too much of it does have long-term health risks?
What the hell are they?
What are the long-term health risks of drinking more than a moderate amount of coffee?
And what the hell business is it of theirs anyway?
And the answer is they own the health care system now.
That's why it's their business.
They have made it their business.
The money is their business.
They're in charge of who gets money spent on them for treatment.
That's their business.
That's why they wanted national health care so that they could control things like this.
It's not about saving 117 million lives, it's about controlling them.
Anyway, I just read you what's in the news, and I have essentially described for you what are death panels, which everybody says are not in there.
Come on, Rush.
Don't bring that back up again.
You're going all palin on us, Rush.
Everybody knows there aren't death panels.
There most certainly are.
Just like it's extremely valid to question how much Obama loves America, just says there are death panels in Obamacare.
It all is what it is.
It's just a matter of whether or not you happen to be somebody who wants to admit it and face it or ignore it and act like it isn't going to matter.
Which is your choice for a while.
And now back to the phones to Midland, Michigan.
This is uh Tim.
Tim, great to have you with us.
Hello, sir.
Well, thank you, Rush.
I wanted to call and let you know that I am an exception to the Obama economy rule.
In the last six years, I have more than doubled, almost tripled my income.
And it has nothing to do with Obama.
It all has to do with something you said in a tirade a few years back.
I was an uninformed Democrat.
I started listening to you because my car only got one station and you were on it.
And you're on a tirade about if you want to improve yourself, don't wait for the government, take care of business, get off your butt and educate yourself.
And it just clicked in my head, so I must call and thank you for changing my life.
Well, I appreciate you saying that, sir.
I I I really do.
You know, it's it's all about challenging conventional wisdom.
Conventional wisdom is a powerful thing, and it doesn't have to just be conventional wisdom in the news.
For example, you could it's amazing the the motivational things that work on people.
For example, if you were if you were to say to somebody, uh, create your own circumstances.
You don't have to live under the circumstances that dominate your life right now.
I don't?
No.
Create your own.
You know, it it people fall into you know the old phrase change is hard.
Most people don't like change.
They don't, because it's new.
Everything about change is new, and and people they get comfort.
Uh get comfortable in in routine, and uh it's it's oftentimes safer to just stay within the the friendly confines of routine.
To go outside that is to really upset Apple carts.
It's change, and sometimes it's scary, and that can freeze people and keep them from doing things that are in their best interest.
But all it would take is change your own circumstances.
If you're gonna if they're gonna have a recession, I'm not participating any number of things.
So whatever it was, it got to you, and I'm glad that it did, because now you have independence.
You don't have to depend on what they're doing in order for your livelihood, more than likely, right?
That is correct.
There uh I was blaming my boss, I was blaming the rich people, I was blaming the Republicans, and once I started blaming myself and taking care of my own business, I have truly freed myself.
Well, that is great.
And by the way, you're not or you weren't uncommon.
Most people will gladly accept an excuse that doesn't involve them.
That's one of the reasons why liberalism sells so well.
Liberals gladly tell you you've got nothing to do with your own failure.
You've got nothing to do with how screwed up you are.
You have nothing to do with how odd and weird you are.
It's somebody else's fault.
It's the Republicans, uh, it's the conservatives, it's Wall Street, uh, whoever.
If somebody can come along and convince you that in your misery, you are fine, that your misery is owing to somebody else.
And the Democrats, we're gonna punish them for you.
We're gonna raise their taxes, we're gonna improve like increase regulations on them, we're gonna make their lives miserable too.
Yours isn't improved, but you think they're getting a shaft a little bit, so you're supposed to be happier.
Liberalism's a real easy sell.
You're not responsible for anything, it's always somebody else's fault, and as an added bonus, whoever's fault it is, the libs are gonna really punish.
But even after all that, the people who libs punish, at least economically, still seem to be doing okay.
After all of that, you're still miserable.
After turning your life over to the left to get even with the people you think are screwing you, nothing changes.
You're still miserable, still blaming the same people till you get hold of things and realize you have much more control over your life than you believe.
And the real key to it is there's nobody.
It isn't Ted Kennedy, it isn't Barack Obama, it isn't Hillary Clinton, it isn't Bill Clinton.
There is nobody who cares as Much about you as you do.
But you may have been taught that it's selfish to care about yourself.
You've you may have been guilt tripped into believing that acting in your own self-interest is selfish, that acting in your own self-interest is leaving other people out, or taking advantage of other people.
So you may have been led to believe that staying miserable and average is fair and nice, because it doesn't humiliate anybody else.
And all you're doing is allowing other people to determine your lot in life, your position in life.
And they never make it better.
Not appreciably.
Liberalism's life-changing impacts are almost always negative.
Pick any abundantly wealthy person outside of someone who inherited her money and try to figure out what it was about liberalism that did it for them.
I acknowledge there might be some things.
If you were able to form a crony relationship with government and your business benefited and you as the owner benefited, yeah, that can happen.
You know how many people that really affects.
You can put them in a thimble compared to the population, compared to the number of people who rely on themselves, invest in themselves, take control of their own lives and become whatever.
That's where the big numbers are.
But it's change, it's risky.
And if you listen to too many liberals, it's unfair.
You might be better at something than somebody else is, or you might be a little smarter.
It's not fair that you should have more.
I think guilt trip people every day.
It's part and parcel of liberalism.
It's just easy.
Nothing's ever your fault.
And whoever is to blame for where you are in life, the left is gonna punish them for you.
Very seductive.
I'm glad you called Tim.
Thanks much.
We got more.
Always.
We get back, don't go.
Isabel, one of my all-time top ten favorite female names.
Isabel in Fort Myers, Florida.
Great to have you on Open Line Friday.
Hello.
Hi, Ross.
Thank you so much.
This is Umbel is the way I want to finish my week.
Well, I'm glad you got through.
Thank you.
Um, you just frame my whole point so beautifully throughout your show.
I'm a static, five years US citizen, and one of the things that infuriates me and and sometimes logically I don't understand is why many of the Hispanics who live in the United States who left our countries because they are corrupted,
because the politicians promised the moon that stars and all the planets and never come through, and they do it every year, and they take your money away, they put poor roads, no services, nothing works, right?
Right.
We already have been down that road and all recently.
We are talking about generations and all the Latin American countries.
And we come here thinking this is the land where I can flourish.
This is the land where my talents are gonna be rewarded because I work hard and I have good ethics.
And we go and vote behind those same demagogues, populists, and corrupt politicians like the current administration.
So that is the piece that I get very how can I say passionate, mad, disappointed, and everything in between.
That we is still that gullible by our own wrong decisions, wrong judgments, right?
And we have to jealous in all this Hispanic people, Ramsey.
Wait, I'm not uh Isabel, are you essentially saying that this country is becoming as corrupt or is on its way to becoming as corrupt as the countries that you left and it and wanted to escape?
Is that what I see it?
I'm seeing it.
And it's sad, and I talked to my friends and my family here, and they said, Do you see that is exactly what happened, you know, twenty years ago in Venezuela.
Do you see that that is what happened?
How big a really Columbia started.
Do you see that is how the uh dog dealers in Latin America work by the government?
I just see that we are slowly by surely.
The United States of America, a country with we what is r it used to be the ruled by the law.
Now the law becomes a moving target and the pence and cover whomever plays the game better.
I'm seeing it.
And it's so sad.
The only difference between the American politicians and many of the Latin American politicians is that the ones here speak good English.
That's it.
Well, yeah, there's no question that it's got to be frustrating people like you.
I mean, you have come here because you wanted to escape.
Yeah, I I literally don't you wanted to escape a number of things.
Poverty, corruption, uh any number of, you know, economic distress.
You come here, this is the shining city on a hill.
This is the this is this is the place on earth everybody wants to come.
Nobody wants to leave this country.
Although that's not actually more people renouncing their citizenship today than ever before.
But we'll leave that aside for the moment.
This is the place everybody wants to come.
And it's just it's a it's a sad reality, Isabel, that uh not everybody.
It's just n any group of people, um there you you're you're well, it's not every not everybody came here for the same reasons you did.
Not everybody's coming here for the same reasons you did.
Some are coming here because it's a giant hammock.
I mean it's as many reasons as there are people.
But uh I can imagine the disappointment you face that a lot of it feel a lot of us feel the same way.
See what's happening to the country.
And the real thing about it that bothers uh some money of us, and I don't know if this is affecting you, but so many of us look out over the landscape and don't see that many people who care about it.
Anyway, I appreciate the call, Isabel.
Thanks.
Thanks very much.
Uh Jason in upstate New York, open line Friday.
Hello, welcome.
Great to have you here.
Hi, Rush.
It's a great honor to talk to you.
Thank you, sir.
I'm a paramedic in upstate New York.
Um, and I'm seeing a lot of community hospitals shutting down to um reimbursement rates falling for Medicaid and through Medicare, uh, due to the new health care law, as well as a lot of insured patients that I have um losing their insurance because of the Affordable Health Care Act,
and um it's crushing the infrastructure of the uh rural and small community hospitals in the area.
Um our local hospital in Ticonderoga, New York, um, is currently uh deciding what to do, whether they should dissolve the hospital or eliminate the nursing home as part of um just deteriorating conditions in the healthcare system up here.
And um one example basically is that um we uh we reimburse, say we have a two thousand dollar uh two thousand dollar transport, and Medicaid will maybe give us ten percent, and we have to wait for that amount for anywhere from three to six months to get reimbursed.
You know, ten percent of that's two hundred dollars between gas and payroll and everything else.
Uh we're we're losing money on those on those calls.
It's same through the same thing with the emergency room.
No, you you've got to be doing something wrong because none of this is supposed to happen.
Um Obamacare was gonna fix all of this.
You you you I don't know what you guys are gonna be screwing it up those somehow because this is just not supposed to happen.
Well, maybe they they like to blame, they like to blame us as far as our are you know the fees and what we charge for the transport, but they don't understand that you know we have to charge what we have to charge to at least try to break even.
I don't know.
You better tell people up there start eating right and not get sick.
That to me sounds like the only solution.
I don't know what else you can do.
You know, Jason and his uh his doctor buddies in upstate New York, I mean they could start doing more unnecessary surgeries uh and overcharge people and and make up for their losses that way.
