Time Text
And greetings.
Great to have you, my friends.
Rush Limbaugh meeting and surpassing all audience expectations every day.
It's Friday.
We've got one big exciting broadcast hour left.
Let's hit it.
Live from the Southern Command in Sunny South Florida.
It's open line Friday.
Great to have you, my friends.
The telephone number is 800-282-2882.
The email address L Rushball at EIPNet.com.
Open line Friday means that you don't have to talk about anything that I care about.
I'll fake it if I have to.
Monday through Thursday, that's a requirement.
You gotta be talking about something I'm into, care about, interested in, what have you.
But on Friday, we open it up.
It's it's it's my way of being a benevolent dictator.
And that is letting you determine talk about something even if I wouldn't.
There are not very many hosts that would uh take this kind of career risk.
I'm happy to do it.
Again, the telephone number is 800 282-2882.
Um couple of things here on this nuclear option.
Uh and there there might be some confusion.
Right now, the nuclear option does not do away with the filibuster on legislation.
Just judicial nominees, cabinet appointees, and the like.
There is still a 60 vote requirement for legislation essentially to pass.
Now the way it works, they come up with a bill and they start debating it.
And sixty votes are needed to stop the debate and move to a final vote.
And that vote to stop debate is called cloture.
That is unchanged.
And that remains a weapon in the Republican arsenal if they choose to use it.
Now I mentioned that there's a piece at redstate.com by Daniel Horowitz.
And it is entitled Senate Republicans Can Retaliate, but will they?
And here just a couple of things, uh a couple of pull quotes from the piece.
For example, there is one simple thing that Republicans can do to retaliate.
They can start by ending the Democrats supermajority on legislative issues.
They can easily pledge to filibuster every piece of legislation and deny all requests for unanimous consent until the rules change is overturned.
Now, this requires a little bit of understanding about the parliamentary procedure in the Senate.
Unanimous consent is a streamlined way of doing away with procedural votes and just moving to the final.
Okay, we're gonna proceed on unanimous consent.
And what Horowitz is suggesting here is do not ever anymore engage.
Do not grant any request by the leadership for unanimous consent.
Make the Democrats earn every piece of legislation.
Put them through the ringer.
End the Democrats' supermajority on legislative issues.
And it's something they could do, the Republicans, if they want to.
They could promise to filibuster every piece of legislation.
That could have the effect of shutting down the Senate on legislative matters.
And so then the question would arise how would Dingy Harry respond to a complete shutdown of the Senate.
Would he then change the rule and abolish the filibuster for legislation?
You don't think he would.
The thing is right now that Dingy Harry nor Obama have anything to fear from eliminating the filibuster on judges because they know the Republicans are not going to retaliate.
Every Democrat knows that.
And Dingy Harry knows that there's not a single issue where, for example, McCain, Corker, Graham, and Alexander will withhold support simply because they were stiffed with the nuclear option.
Meaning Dingy Harry knows that there are four Republicans that he can always count on voting against their party.
In support of him, if it means keeping the Senate running.
Now, just an hour after Dingy Harry blew up the Senate, Republicans rewarded him by not objecting to the first unanimous consent request.
And every day standing committees need consent to conduct hearings.
Horowitz says it's a prime opportunity to grind the Senate to a halt until dingy Harry changes his ways.
But now from the other perspective, if you...
If you approach this purely without any care or concern, what happens?
You're from Mars and you're looking at this, and you've got two competing teams, and one wants to win more than the other.
You would have to conclude, who could blame Dingy Harry for pulling the nuclear option, eliminating the filibuster on judicial nominees?
He has been punching Senate Republicans in the face all year, and they haven't responded.
In fact, Senate Republicans have turned around and fought their fellow Republicans in the House.
Jamming them with bad legislation, which they helped Harry Reid pass out of the Senate.
It's a point that I made on the program yesterday.
The Republicans in the Senate have been more oriented toward doing damage to the Tea Party than they have to the Democrats.
So if you're Harry Reid and you're watching this, why in the world would you worry about any Republican pushback?
The only Republican pushback is against their own.
So in a purely detached way, you would have to say Harry Reid is not taking a great risk because he knows there's not going to be any pushback.
Now, the pushback opportunity is again by getting rid of the unanimous consent and making the Democrats fight for every piece of legislation.
It is possible, in a sense, that the Republicans could grind the Senate to a halt.
But Harry Reid is saying to himself, there's no way they're going to do that.
We have been beating them up all year, and they turn around and join us in beating up on Ted Cruz and Tea Party Republicans in the House.
So if you're Harry Reid, what are you worried about what Mitch McConnell and the boys are going to do?
Because the way you look at it, they're with you in trying to take out the Tea Party.
So in that sense, why would Dingy Harry fear any reprisal?
In fact, he threatened it earlier in the year.
And when he did, Republicans agreed to let through a lot of radical Obama nominees.
Second-term cabinet.
Dingy Harry said, why not just go all out this week?
I mean, they let me have pretty much what I wanted just with the threat of doing this.
Why not go ahead and do it?
Folks, what really is happening here is that the Senate Democrats are behaving right according to human nature.
In that sense, it's totally understandable.
Nobody's trying to stop them.
So why would you stop yourself?
If nobody's providing any obstacle, nobody's pushing back, go for it.
It remains the singular Republican problem.
There is no pushback.
And look, I can repeat all the psychoanalysis from over the years to explain it, be wasting time because I don't really know.
My latest illustration is that they're suffering post-traumatic stress disorder from years and years of bullying by the media, and they're simply scared.
They are Jonathan Martin.
The Democrats in the media are Richie Incognito.
And they're just walking away.
Or they're certainly not afraid to oppose Obama because of the racist charge.
They're afraid to oppose uh Democrats because of the racist, sexist, bigot homophobe charge.
They claim that they're afraid to do this because the Tea Party's giving them a bad name.
And so they're focusing on taking the Tea Party out in hopes of impressing the bullies to be nicer to them.
It's pathetic, but it is what's happening.
Now there are other things that can be done.
And let me run a couple of them by you.
Every judge from this day forward that wins confirmation with less than 60 votes as a result of the nuclear option should never receive a Republican vote to be elevated to a higher court.
So if Judge Slobodnik gets nominated to the Eighth Circuit Court as a circuit judge, and he gets confirmed on 54 votes, then he's dead in the water.
He never gets, if if another president wants to elevate him to an appellate court somewhere, he doesn't get a single Republican vote.
In other words, stigmatize.
Stigmatize every judge and every Clint or uh Obama appointee who wins confirmation with less than 60 votes.
And basically, you know what?
These guys aren't really nominees.
They only won nomination by virtue of a rules change that was unfair and unjust, and just stigmatize them.
Now I'm telling you what I would do.
I don't expect the Republicans to do this either.
And why would we?
I mean, this is a Republican Party that gave up its majority in order to show fairness.
Remember good old Jim Jeffords and Trent Lott?
The Republicans literally gave up a one vote majority in the spirit of fairness.
Look what it bought them.
It never buys them anything.
Except conservative media commentators think they're very elegant and mature.
But aside from that, it doesn't gain them a thing.
Republicans ought to refuse to vote at all for any nominee who was first rejected under the 60 vote advise and consent rule and later advanced by this unconstitutional simple majority rule.
Those nominees should be advanced with Democrat votes only, and the stigma should follow them during their entire career.
If any judge gets appointed and confirmed with less than 60 votes, he should never ever get another Republican vote for anything.
I would stigmatize everybody that ends up being appointed and confirmed, judge, cabinet secretary, whatever.
I would stigmatize them, Scarlet Letter.
Illegitimate.
They got confirmed only because their rules were changed.
I would send that, I would make that a message.
I'd stigmatize.
I'm tired of being stigmatized as a conservative, frankly, and I think it's time to turn the tables.
Stigmatize these people who've made it because of illegitimate rules changes.
Stigmatize these people who otherwise would not have made it.
All Obama agenda items that make it to the Senate floor should be objected to at every juncture.
Republicans should never vote in favor of another Obama initiative, no matter how benign.
Unless it's a Republican measure that benefits Republicans in a way that Democrats find to say.
And this includes amnesty.
Amnesty ought to be dead in the water.
Of course, the problem is that the Republicans want amnesty.
The problem is, you know, you look at it from the outside, you almost would conclude that there are some Republicans who actually wish they were Democrats.
Got to take a brief time out.
We'll come back because your calls are next.
Open line Friday rolls on right after this.
We go back to the phones to Pittsburgh.
This is Joyce, and I'm glad you called.
Great to have you.
Hi.
Well, hi, Rush.
Happy, happy Friday.
Thank you.
Same to you.
Thank you.
Well, you know, one thing that struck me as I continue to go back through my mind about the entire, you know, Obama administration.
He only won re-election.
Anything he gets is just through lies and deceit.
I mean, whether it goes back to Acorn, you know, voter fraud, voter ID suppression, where that's being struck down left and right, to Candy Crowley handing him the second debate to health care, to the Tea Party, the IRS.
It just goes on and on.
It's just through lives of manipulation, he even gets anything.
And now he l let me get this straight now.
Now he's delaying Iran sanctions or he's asking for it, but he won't delay Obamacare.
I I just don't see why the American people are just so blind.
He is delaying Obamacare.
He's going to delay the enrollment period past the election next year.
What that means is he is going to delay people seeing the ultimate price Obamacare is going to cost them until after the election.
But see, I'm self-employed, so I've already been slammed twice in the last three months.
I've seen my rates go up 35%.
Well, so is everybody.
I I don't know how much that's actually going to help, but uh I mean uh I think the American people are beginning to get outraged.
I I think the shroud is up till now.
People have been scared.
We had a call yesterday, I don't know if you heard it from a woman who said that that she and everybody she knows has just been afraid to say anything negative about Obama because they don't want to be called racist, and they don't want to be involved in any controversy, and they don't want to be bullied, and they don't want people coming after them.
And so it was her opinion that a lot of people in this country are scared and mad and doubly scared to say anything about it.
She thinks she said anyway, that she thinks it's starting to change now.
It's becoming acceptable to voice your opposition to Obama, largely because of Obamacare.
I wonder how much of that is even being helped by, you know, Colonel Colonel Alan West and Dr. Carson, you know, not being afraid to speak out either.
I mean, perhaps, you know, having eloquent gentlemen like them speaking out against it, and the race car really can't be pulled on them.
Well, although they try.
Um, but it is to encourage people.
I know they keep getting called racists as well.
But but neither would be.
No, they're called Uncle Toms and traitors and and the IRS was sicked on Dr. Carson.
Oh, absolutely.
I heard that.
And it just, you know, but they took Alan West out.
They f they've they they've they've found some way to, you know, get get him out of office here in Florida.
You know, but but they don't but these two gentlemen still have the strength of character to not be afraid.
They still stand up every day.
I I just I'm so encouraged by their courage.
That I I it helps me to get up every day just to s hear that.
Oh, I think I misunderstood what you were saying.
I I I thought you were asking them to speak up.
I didn't think no, they do, and I think that is courageous.
It is.
There's no question.
But a lot of people have been speaking up for five years.
Not many, but a lot of people have, and look what happens to them.
I know.
I know.
But you know, but every day more and more folks are standing up, and I think now that even Hollywood is starting to get on him a little bit.
Perhaps uh keep doing what you do, Rush, because perhaps the tide is beginning to turn.
Well, it's like I said earlier, and I know this this this sounds kind of dissatisfying and empty because I can't provide any specifics, and I admit that this is rooted in faith.
I have no problem admitting that.
I think I I I'm gonna sound like a uh a first grader in civics class here, folks, but I really do.
I believe bad people end up getting theirs in the end.
I just do.
Some seem to always get away with it, but most don't.
And I just I don't know when or how, but this is not gonna ultimately be rewarded.
No, it's because the rates next year are going to skyrocket.
Folks, the good news, what whatever good news there is about Obamacare is over.
Anything about Obamacare from this day forward is bad news.
Now, I th they do say that their website passed some screwball little test today.
You know, big whoop.
That website's another thing out of Jay Carney's mouth.
The reason that they're delaying the enrollment mandate deadline beyond the election next year is because the rates skyrocket next year.
And you know what?
The rates skyrocket next year because they are based on the lies that the young and healthy were gonna flock to Obamacare.
And they're not.
The rates that everybody thought you and me and everybody else are going to be charged were based, projections based on what these loco weeds thought would be a mad dash by millennials to Obamacare to sign up.
Look at folks, these people that are running this are.
They don't know Jack.
I'm telling you, they are theoreticians, faculty lounge theoreticians who have no, no, I mean zero experience in the private sector in the real world.
They don't.
There's not one person involved in this ever made a payroll, ever run a business.
They don't have the slightest idea how the real world works.
And remember, they don't understand the fragility of small business.
They think all business is filthy rich.
It's the fatted golden goose, and it never is gonna run out of money.
They think that every business owner is is is is filthy rich, hoarding money, cheating customers, not paying employees so they can have all the money for themselves.
That's what they truly believe.
That's why they do what they do to get even with people like that by raising their taxes or regulating their businesses or what have you, because they make the assumption that you are reprobates, that you're selfish and that you're greedy, and that you exploit your employees and screw your customers.
That's what capitalism is to them.
So they devise this health care system.
They think that young people love and adore them.
They think that millennials love and adore Obama, and they think that they would love and adore and Obama does.
And Obama made this case, he's lying through his teeth about Obamacare and how cheap it's gonna be, how you get to keep your plan, how it's gonna ensure the uninsured is filled with compassion.
It's gonna all this and they thought that the uh what would 18 to 35-year-old group that just loves Obama would be the first ones making a mad dash to Obamacare to sign up.
They they really and and that would then result in lower premiums for everybody else because they were not going to be given rate deals.
They were going to be charged more than they were paying.
And the calculation was they're young and healthy, they're not gonna be making any claims.
So they're gonna be buying all this insurance, but not using it because they're not sickly.
And so we can take that money and insure the uninsured and the sick and the ill and the elderly and all that.
Well, a problem happened.
These space cadets forgot to look at the employment situation.
They forgot to look at their own economic policies, which have resulted in no jobs for these millennials.
Not only do they not have jobs, they don't have the means of producing an income or earning an income that would allow them to pay these premiums.
And so the primary funding mechanism for Obamacare 2014 is up in smoke.
Because the millennials, the group to be screwed, doesn't have the money to sign up.
But even if they did, they don't have the desire to sign up.
They're not stupid.
They can find out that their prices are going to be way higher than they need to be.
These people don't even want insurance at their ages.
They're not sick.
They don't even imagine getting sick.
They don't even think about dying other than when they think about global warming.
But they're their mortality is not something they live with.
These people are young, and the world is just opening up to them.
They're not thinking about whether they're drinking too much coffee or having too much trans fat, or whether they're drinking 32-ounce soft drinks.
These people are none of the sort.
They're like every young person.
The world is their oyster.
Except these people really aren't because Obama's destroying the oyster.
But the bottom line is if these young dupes don't sign up and don't pay these premiums, then where are we going to get the money to insure the really sick and the elderly and the poor?
The only people who have, and it almost is only, the only people who've actually enrolled for Obamacare are the elderly.
And the real number of enrollees is 27,000.
It isn't 106.
Maybe 30,000 by now.
So given those realities, since there isn't a high degree of money in the system brought by the millennials buying insurance they don't need, there isn't any money in the system.
Therefore, everybody who enrolls as mandated by the law next year is going to be faced with skyrocketing premiums because the young millennials haven't put any money into it.
And Obama does not want that realized before the election.
That is sticker shock like you can't imagine.
And he doesn't want that known.
So he has just arbitrarily, again, outside of the law decided to delay the enrollment period, the mandated enrollment period beyond November of 2014.
The thinking is that people are so dumb and so stupid that they will not learn what I just told you.
And that they will show up in 2014 and vote Democrat to win the House and keep the Senate because they love Obamacare.
They now think they get to keep their doctor because Obama apologized and get to keep their doctor for just a year.
They get to keep their plan, price for that goes up too.
They think that by hiding the truth, you are so stupid that you are not going to learn the truth.
But there are people like me and countless others who are going to tell you the truth.
You're not going to have to Enroll to find out what you face price-wise when you do enroll.
But they're sitting there thinking this is how little they think of you, and how dumb they think you are, if they just delay by a month or two, just delay the mandatory enrollment.
You've got to be signed up.
You've got to pay your money to Obamacare.
You've got to have insurance until after the election that you'll vote Democrat happily, supportively, and then after the election, when you figure out what's happened, you'll have no power to do anything about it other than get mad.
And they don't care if you get mad after the election.
They don't care if you realize you have just been shafted after the election.
They don't want you to think or realize you're getting shafted before you vote.
You are getting the shaft.
We all are.
Mine and all.
We are getting the royal shaft.
Obama just thinks you're stupid enough to not realize it.
Before November of 2014.
Jay Carney thinks you're stupid enough, and he can convince the media to tell you that you're stupid enough that you won't know you're getting the shaft before November of 2014.
Come December 2014, when you get the shaft and realize it, they'll say, gee, we're sorry you feel that way.
This wasn't our intention.
Well, then lower my price.
Oh, no, no.
What no, we we didn't intend for you to get mad.
We're sorry you got mad.
But you're stuck with it.
Folks, they have been governing against the will of the American people since day one.
They're not changing.
Everything about Obamacare.
People are learning now, everything about it is against the will of the people.
If you put what this has become up to a vote, it doesn't stand a chance.
You tell everybody that health care is going to become what it has become.
You tell them this back in 2009 and 2010.
Sayonara.
It doesn't get 10% of the vote.
It's all fraud.
It's all corruption.
It's all deceit.
They just think you're too dumb to realize it before you vote for them again.
That's what they really think of you.
We'll be back.
Back to the phones.
We go to Sandusky, Ohio.
This is Tom.
Thank you for waiting, sir.
It's great to have you with us.
Thank you for having me on.
I'll make this quick.
As far as I'm concerned, that thing that crawls out of a sewer with a long tail and has a name like Harry Reed.
Uh has just signed a death null for the Democratic Party, along with, you know, the uh Obamacare or the Affordable Care Act, as they now like to call it.
I don't care what they try from now on.
Everybody's going to remember they were lied to.
Everybody's going to know that it's going to cost too much, and everybody's going to know that this president is a piece of.
We got it.
I won't say it.
We get it.
Anyhow.
I should lay back.
I saved your bacon there, buddy.
Save your bacon.
Because I know where you're headed because I've been wanting to say the same thing.
Yeah.
But that's all.
You know, it's going to touch everybody in a wallet.
You can't get around that.
I don't care what you try.
You know, when they start seeing their flight.
It is.
It's mandated.
It is going to touch everybody.
There's no way around this.
What but what they're trying to do, Tom, as I just explained, they're trying to make sure that it all happens before it touches everybody.
They get everybody signed up before, and Democrats win elections before it touches everybody.
That's what they're trying to do here.
So that so what?
Touches everybody, everybody hates it.
Live with it.
It's the law of the land.
Screw you.
That's where they're headed.
They don't care whether you like it or not.
The Democrat Party doesn't care whether you support them or not.
Doesn't matter that they represent 20% of the thinking in the country.
Screw that.
They're going to put their agenda in no matter what, whatever, however, they're going to do it, and they're aided and assisted by no pushback of any consequence from the Republicans.
And if you end up hating them, they don't care.
What are you going to do to them?
They're still going to take their junkets to the Caribbean on your money.
They're still gonna get your taxpayer dollars paying for their health care.
What are you gonna do about it?
Other than get mad at them, which they don't care about.
That's why people have got to be made aware of this before.
That's why the pressure must never be let up on this.
People have got that they have got to be that every strategic move that Obama and the Democrats are making with this must be undermined.
Has to be.
And I think that's what he's saying.
That's what he's hoped happening.
That the level of education is such that they don't get away with this.
That's what Tom was saying before he branched off into near profanity that I, as host, saved him from.
Tom, thanks for the call.
Appreciate it.
Yes, of course we're gonna be here next uh next week.
Next Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, we're gonna be here.
And a little special uh treat on Thanksgiving Day here on the EIB network.
Something a little different, but we'll be here next week.
Others may take vacation time.
We will be here for you.
Nothing else we'd rather be doing anyway.
We'll see you then, folks.
