Time Text
Welcome to today's edition of The Rush 24 7 Podcast.
President Obama today is taking action that a majority of Americans disagree with.
He's going down a road a majority of people disagree with.
He knows it.
So the question is why?
Why is Barack Obama literally trying to push people a snap?
Why is he doing this?
It's as though in some way he's attacking the very sanity of people in this country.
Why is he doing this?
Why is he deliberately making people so upset?
What is driving him?
Anyone got any ideas?
Great to have you here as we inaugurate another excursion into broadcast excellence, known as the Rush Limbaugh program here on the EIB Network.
Great to have you.
The telephone numbers 800 28282 and the uh email address, Ilrushbo at EIB net.com.
I've been watching the uh the uh the the children as human shields show that is uh now going on at the uh at the White House.
Why these guys are somber.
Biden was very somber.
You would have thought that uh eulogies were introduced um I know uh intimately have worked with this guy 27 hours a day.
President Barack, yay, kids cheer and president starts out reading some letters from the kids, gotta do what the kids want, gotta answer all their letters to Santa Claus, gonna do everything they want.
But it's just it it is um it's stunning.
You look at what's happening in the country in this by the way, not one thing.
I've I've got the 23 executive orders here.
They're 23 executive actions.
I have them here.
I got the PDFs early this morning or embargoed until the president started speaking.
And uh a summary of these 23 as, well, it's called a gun violence reduction executive actions.
You go through this, and there isn't one of them that would have stopped what happened at the Sandy Hook Elementary School.
Not one of these would have stopped this.
You couple what the president's talking about today with Governor Kumo and what he did in uh in New York.
Uh Governor Kumo has now told therapists that they gotta be on a lookout for strange behavior, and they gotta analyze potentially dangerous behavior.
If they think somebody might use a gun in a dangerous way, they gotta report that person.
And is it been ram rotted through?
And I've got a story here about how the Democrats think, and this is this is what I mean.
I'm a when when I ask why why is Obama doing this?
There's nowhere near popular support for this.
Nowhere near it.
The actions of the American people indicate that.
You don't need me to tell you.
And yet he's continually doing things, deliberately making people upset.
Deliberately driving people baddie.
Attacking people's sanity, scratching their heads, why is he doing this?
Why why is the president doing this?
Why is the president so against us?
Why is the president blaming us?
People are asking this and they are taking action.
Because the question they're they're asking perplexes them.
They don't understand this in the president.
They're running out and buying guns.
They don't know what to do, and then the NRA's got this ad.
That the left is just fit to be tied over.
The NRA doesn't back down like the Republican Party does.
The NRA doesn't back down at the first sign of criticism like most Republican and conservative institutions do.
And I think they're surprised.
They ain't the regime, everybody thought the NRA would back down and said the NRA's got an ad, and they talk about the hypocrisy of Obama, making sure that his kids are protected by armed guards everywhere they go, but that your kids can't be.
The NRA calling Obama an elitist.
And the left and the media is up in arms over this.
What is and they're asking questions everybody think that they're in the same situation as the president?
Of course the president needs to be protected.
Of course the president's kids need to be protected.
But I got a column here From uh from a leftist blog saying, do you you asking the people of the country, do you really think you're in the same situation as the president?
Let me tell this leftist blogger something.
As many kids are being shot on school campuses today, and as as much senseless law is being passed about guns.
I mean, if you actually proclaim a gun free zone, you are providing a roadmap to somebody with a gun to go and take action.
You're telling somebody where to go where they can't be stopped.
My point here is in answer to this leftist blogger.
Here, let's it's uh Paul Waldman is his name, and it's the prospect.org is the website.
And the title of his piece is the NRA opens fire.
They've obviously decided the most effective strategy is to rile up their base.
This is an column critical of the NRA and critical of you.
The NRA riling up their base.
What is Obama doing?
Obama is riling up the country.
And why?
What's in it for him to do this?
Why is he deliberately in people's faces, making them upset what is driving him?
Anyway, Mr. Waldman.
Let me join his piece in progress here just to make my point.
This does actually reveal an important aspect of the NRA's worldview.
As far as they're concerned at the NRA, all of us should act as though we exist in the same security situation as the president.
You may think you're just the assistant regional manager of a widget company, but in fact, a terrorist commando strike force could be coming to lay siege to your home at any moment, which is why you need to be prepared, not just with a gun, but with enough weaponry to hold your own in the two hour fire fight that's just inevitable.
Guys mocking you.
The guy is mocking you.
Let me tell you something.
I don't know if this guy's a parent or not.
I'm not, but I know plenty of people who are.
Try being one today.
Is an average American parent's concern for his or her kids any less than the president's for his?
Should any parent be less concerned for their kids than the president is for his?
Is this what we're not being told we've got to understand the president needs a four million dollar a year entertainment budget?
The president needs limitless flights all over the world in Air Force One with his wife on a different plane.
The president needs countless secret service agents, countless armed weapons to protect him and the White House and his kids, but you don't.
Because you're not nearly as important as the president.
You're not the target the president is.
Well, in fact, I don't see the president's kids in danger.
I don't see the president's kids going to Sandy Hook Elementary.
I don't see the president's kids living in Chicago.
Other people's kids do.
And they love them just as much.
And they want to protect them just as much.
So now the NRA ad calling the president a hypocrite by trying to deny parents the same thing he provides his kids, has got these pundits all upset.
They're framing this.
Who's framing this?
What do you?
Oh, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Obama is out there saying pundits who frame this as an assault on liberty.
I wonder who he has in mind when he says that.
Obama says, pundits who uh who frame this as an assault on liberty just want to gin things up to cause fear.
My friends, I'm I'm here to tell you it's the president ginning things up.
It's the president creating unrest and fear and instability, and I don't know why.
I mean, I know the president's political leanings, I know what his ideology is, I know why and what about this country doesn't like and wants to change.
I understand all that, but I don't understand why he wants to get in people's face and irritate them.
I don't understand why he Wants to make people so upset.
I don't understand what drives him on that.
Not gonna I can understand some underwear clad, pajama clad, unhappy, sniveling little liberal in the basement blogging why he would want to make you mad because he's misery and he wants you to join him in it, but the president's not miserable.
What?
You think the president is miserable?
No, he's not.
I don't I really I don't understand.
So here we here we have this this authoritarian president and his acolytes in the media who now want us to think that he is deserving of special treatment.
His kids are more important than your kids are, and when you think that your kids should have the same kind of protection his do, or at least the same type of armed protection, that you somehow are being unreasonable, that you somehow somehow are suffering from grandiosity.
You're thinking you're as important as the president.
That's what this Mr. Waldman is saying.
You gotta get a little perspective here.
You know, you're the regional manager of a widget company.
There aren't as many people care about wiping your family out as there are who want to wipe out the president of the United States and his family.
You gotta get sense of proportion here is what you're being told.
You're you're you're you're just asking too much, but the NRA and has got a bunch of them in a uh in a tizzy here.
So they're not backing down at the NRA.
People all over the country are buying weapons and ammunition in record numbers, joining the NRA in record numbers.
The president's up there, he just said that 70% of the American people and a majority, he just said this, 70% of the American people, a majority of NRA members favor universal background checks.
And he is constructing his straw men.
Economists from both parties agree.
Most Americans agree with me when I say blah blah.
Offers no backup or statistical support for any of this.
But universal background checks.
And he admonished Congress, you can't just sit there and continue to do nothing.
You're gonna have to join us.
And that the fact that everybody wants universal background checks means we have to do this, Congress.
You can't not do this.
He said that 40% of gun purchases today are purchased by people whose backgrounds are not checked.
And he's gonna fix that.
He's gonna take care of that.
Twenty three executive actions.
Gun violence.
Oh, and that's another thing.
Gun control has been renamed.
Just like global warming was renamed climate change, gun control has now been renamed to gun violence.
We are going to eliminate gun violence.
That's what everybody wants to do.
And we all agree on that.
Who could disagree with eliminating gun violence?
Therefore, we all agree with gun control, because how else are we going to do it?
So the exploitation of children, the exploitation of the country is occurring today because of what happened at the Sandy Hook Elementary School.
None of what's being proposed today would have stopped it.
It's simply an opportunity.
The occasion has presented itself for the left to advance another aspect of its Nirvana agenda.
And that is as much gun control as they can get away with.
This uh Paul Waldman at prospect.org.
Do Americans living in uh Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, California, they have any to worry about being attacked by terrorists, drug cartels.
I mean, what are drug cartels with terrorists?
I don't think Mr. Waldman understands the NRA's point.
The NRA was specifically talking about having an armed person at a scrule.
One armed person for hundreds of kids.
That's not quite the same thing as the armed protection Obama's kids get.
And yet they are upset because the NRA dared called the president an elitist hypocrite.
The NRA does not back.
Now let's take a brief time out.
By the way, this is not the first.
No, let's not take it.
So grab soundbite number one.
We got time to squeeze this in.
I want to take you back to October of last year.
And this will revive memories, I'm sure that many of you have of other instances like this.
The Future Children Project released a new ad.
It was an ad for Obama featuring several unidentified kids singing a song about Obama.
Remember all these Barack Hussein Obama.
Mm-mm.
Kids immediately started paying homage to dear leader shortly after he was immaculated.
Say that kids are not exploited and used.
Who can the children are writing letters to the president?
Flea, we don't want to die.
We owe.
How can we not listen to them?
We must listen to the children.
And here's an just take you back, just to remind everybody of the lengths to which this regime goes.
Imagine an America Where strip mines are fun and free Where gas can be fixed And sick people just die, and oil fills the sea.
We don't have to pay for free waste.
Our schools are good enough.
Give us endless wars on foreign chores and lots of Chinese stuff.
What the children of the future?
American through and through.
There's only happened to our country.
And we're kind of blaming you.
We haven't killed all the polar bears.
But it's not for lack of time.
The earth is cracked, the green bird is set, and the atmosphere is fine.
Congress went home, army.
They did their best we know.
You can't cut spending with election spending unless it's well fair.
We're the children of the future.
Americans go and do.
But something happened to our country.
And we're kind of blaming you.
Find a part that is slow in.
Take a breath of poison air Think for clothes to place To fill the weapon in space But you can write off your au pair It's a little offer to tell you.
But you left us all in the back.
When we look around, the place is all dumbed down.
And the long term's kind of a drag.
What the children of the future.
American through and through.
And something happened to our country.
And yeah, we're blaming you.
You did your best.
You've got the test.
Mom and dad for blaming you.
There you have it.
Mom and Dad, you're destroying our world.
Mom and Dad, you're destroying our country, but we're gonna turn to Barack Obama to save it.
We're going to turn to our government, Barack Obama, our dear leader, and our government will save our world and our planet and our future from you, Mom and Dad, because we're blaming you for destroying it.
Supporters Barack Obama write the lyrics, gather the kids, record the song, have them singing it.
How many of these kids have any idea what they were singing in this?
The O pair and all this stuff.
Gotta take a break.
Be back in just a second, my friends.
Don't vanish.
House Democrats have uh proposed the elimination of the national debt ceiling.
House Democrats, just get rid of the national debt ceiling.
Get rid of it.
All told.
They got lots to discuss on the program.
By the way, here's the answer to the question.
Matt Iglesias at Slate.com actually said it.
You want to hear his tweets?
Matt Iglesias Slate.com.
Here's one.
I'm pretty comfortable saying that the president's children are in fact more important than yours.
I read the excerpt from Paul Waldman, prospect.com.
Who do you people think you are thinking your kids are more important to presidents?
Of course the president's kids need arm protection.
You just a middle-level widget factory manager.
You think your kids care?
You think anybody cares about your kids?
More Matt Iglesias.
And yes, I know your kids are more important to you, but your kids are less important to the country than the president's.
That's a point.
Sorry, haters, he writes.
A kidnapping of the first kids would be a way bigger deal than a kidnapping of your kids.
So Matt Iglesias, thermometer of the left, barometer of the left, explains it.
Your kids don't count.
Obamas do.
Great to have you here, Rush Limbaugh, the Excellence and Broadcasting Network, the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies, among the things that the president has announced today.
We didn't announce them all, but I have them.
I have a summary and I have the full list.
Twenty-three gun violence reduction executive actions.
Twenty-three of them.
One of them is involving doctors.
Obama asks doctors to help deal with guns.
And here is the key language in this.
Preserve the rights of health care providers, i.e.
doctors, to protect their patients and communities from gun violence.
We should...
Never ask doctors and other health care providers to turn a blind eye to the risks posed by guns in the wrong hands.
Doctors and other mental health professionals play an important role in protecting the safety of their patients and the broader community by reporting direct and credible threats of violence to the authorities.
So your doctor has essentially been deputized now with an Obama executive action.
This is what uh uh Andrew DePius did in New York yesterday.
Mental health professionals, if therapists, if they detect that you might leave the office to go grab a gun and do something, they have to call and report you.
And now doctors must do the same thing.
Doctors and other mental health professionals play an important role to protecting the safety of their patients in the broader community by reporting direct and credible threats of violence to the authorities.
But there is public confusion about whether federal law prohibits such reports about threats of violence.
The Department Health and Human Services is issuing a letter to doctors clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting on potential dangerous behavior by their patients.
The executive action also protects the rights of health care providers to talk to their patients about gun safety.
Doctors and other health care providers also need to be able to ask about guns in their patients' homes, and safe storage of those guns, especially if their patients show signs of certain mental illnesses, or if they have a young child or a mentally ill family member at home.
So now doctors are being ordered, instructed to talk to patients And get information from them about gun ownership, where they are in their house, who has access to them, where the ammunition is kept.
Doctors are now quote unquote permitted, unquote, to do this as make some deputies.
Agents of the state.
And if they don't do it, let's look at this the other way around.
Let's say patient X go to a doctor.
The patient's got a sore throat.
Ronnie knows.
The doctor does not ask the patient anything to do with the patient's guns.
The patient that goes out and uses the guns sometime later.
And then the regime learns that the doctor didn't report that this patient indicated they might be dangerous.
Look at the position this puts the doctors in.
The doctors are now under the thumb of Obamacare.
They had better comply.
This is not a choice.
Can you say hello to rapidly increasing, even higher and faster malpractice insurance?
They'd better comply.
They'd better do as they're told.
Now, this release of the White House also says some have incorrectly claimed that language in Obamacare prohibits doctors from asking their patients about guns and gun safety.
But that's not true.
Obamacare does not prevent them.
In fact, the executive action today is almost essentially requiring it.
Medical groups also continue to fight against state laws attempting to ban doctors from asking these questions.
The regime will issue guidance clarifying that Obamacare does not prohibit or otherwise regulate communication between doctors and patients about guns.
Again, folks, this this is pushing people's buttons on purpose.
This it this is going to cost some people a snap.
It might.
This is going after the very reasonableness and sanity of people.
Seems like the goal here is to get everybody on some kind of list.
And to have all kinds of people that we interact with end up reporting on what we do or say to them to the government, to the quote unquote the authorities.
The authorities.
That's a that's a totalitarian word.
The authorities.
Why is Obama doing this?
Why is he deliberately making people so upset?
What's driving him?
Don't ask who the ACLU is.
I mean, that's the ACLU is right on anything.
Anything to get rid of guns, the ACLU's right there, leftists or leftists, and that comes first with them.
That the ACLU is a civil rights organization is a bit of a laugher.
They're just another branch of liberalism.
Now, I don't want to let this go.
I want to go back to the here's the NRA ad.
This is the audio of the NRA ad in which they call the president an elitist hypocrite.
Are the president's kids more important than yours?
Then why is he skeptical about putting armed security in our schools when his kids are protected by armed guards at their school?
Mr. Obama demands the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes.
But he's just another elitist hypocrite when it comes to a fair share of security.
Now this you just don't do, folks.
This you wouldn't, you wouldn't have a citizen getting away with this if it was about Hugo Chavez.
You wouldn't have a citizen getting away with this if it was about Yuri Andropov.
You you this I can't tell you at the White House and in the media, the reaction to this ad is in the vein of who do they think they are?
How dare they be insolent like this?
What right do they have?
Who do they think they are at the NRA?
You're not supposed to question the president this way.
You're not supposed to doubt the president this way.
And they're used to every institution that opposes Obama caving at some point, and the NRA does not back down.
That's why I shared these two things with you today, Paul Waldman at Prospect.org.
You may think you're just the assistant regional manager of a widget company, but in fact, a terrorist commando strike force could be coming to lay siege to your home at any moment, which is why you need to be prepared.
Not just with a gun, but with enough weaponry to hold your own in the two hour firefight that's just inevitable.
He's mocking you.
You're just a middle manager.
You don't need the kind of protection the president's kids need, and you're lying to yourself if you think you do.
And then Matt Iglesias at Slate Magazine with some tweets responding to the NRAA ed.
And Matt Iglesias is as good a barometer as anybody else of the left in this country.
He's pretty comfortable saying that the president's kids are, in fact, more important than yours.
This, folks, is not important.
The way this country was founded.
We've never had a king.
We've not had an imperial authoritarian presidency.
We have never had situation.
We all hope the president's smarter than we are, and we all hope the president's more informed and uh so forth, qualified than we are to do that job.
But but better person, more important.
Maybe not put it that way, but that you don't matter, only the president does.
It's the other way around.
This is turning everything 180 degrees out of phase.
Matt Iglacius with another tweet, and yes, I know your kids are more important to you, but they're less important to the country.
That's the point.
Your kids don't matter when we're talking about Obama's kids.
Well, let me let me illustrate the flaw of that.
The president of the United States, by law, has all this Secret Service protection.
His kids have it, and wherever they go, there is armed protection all over the place.
And they don't have to pay for it.
And it's a concern the president really doesn't have to the degree that you do.
The president can rest somewhat easily.
Hey, his kids are hard to get to.
But you it's not the president's kids being gunned down.
It's Sandy Hook or in Chicago.
It's your kids.
Middle manager's kids are being gunned down.
It's ordinary average American's kids that are being killed, not the president's, not Biden's kids, not members of Congress's kids.
Certainly not the president's, yours.
And you're being told today that you ought to have a little sense of perspective or proportion.
You've got to understand the president needs more protection.
The president's kids are more important than yours.
You're silly to agree with the NRA to put an armed guard in a school.
You're silly.
Kids don't need that.
Who do you think you are?
You know as well as I do today.
With this stuff that happens at these elementary schools, what's going on in Chicago?
Being a parent today, every day is a crapshoot where the safety of your kids is concerned.
And every parent is like any other parent, and I don't care what the economics are, they love their kids and are devastated at the thought of losing them or of them being injured or hurt.
Every parent is identical in that regard, and there are no class differences where this is concerned.
And there shouldn't be.
But look who's establishing class differences on child safety.
The supposed egalitarian, classless left, which runs around and attacks the rich all the time for wanting special considerations, special concerns.
here's the left basically suggesting that we have a class system where child safety is concerned.
And there are different levels of classes, or different class socioeconomic classes, and depending on where you are, your kids are not as important as other people's.
Well, they are to you.
And you're every bit an American as much as Obama or any other elected official is.
And so the leaders of the country essentially say, look, your kids are not that important, is not as least important as mine are.
I'm gonna have a different set of rules for my kids.
This is what the left does.
They assign rules for everybody to live under and they exempt themselves on the basis of class.
They are better than you, or they're smarter, or they're more capable.
See, you can't make the wise decisions you need to make because you're not really good.
You're not a decent person, you're not qualified, you're not smart enough.
They have to control things for you in order to save you from yourself, to protect you and your kids.
You don't have the smarts to do that.
Another Matt Glacius tweet, sorry haters.
A kidnapping of the first kids would be a way bigger deal than a kidnapping of your kids.
So you see, as far as the left is concerned, the number one most important thing is the state and the people who run the state.
That's what's more important, not you, not the individual, and this is what's happened.
The relationship between citizen and state, which has always been unique and exceptional this country is being turned into what it's always been everywhere in the world.
Citizen state, everything.
Back after this.
On the cutting edge of societal evolution, El Rushboat of the Phones, we start in Oklahoma City.
This is Tom.
I'm glad you called, sir.
Welcome.
Well, this is quite an honor, Dr. Limbaugh.
The last time I made it past your screener, Tony Snow was guest hosting your show.
The late great Tony Snow.
He was quite a man.
He was a great guy, really was.
Well, I'm glad you got back through when I'm here.
Well, it as I said, it's an honor, sir.
Uh what I wanted to alert your uh listeners to was the whole thing of gun violence and uh doctors screening who's got guns.
Yeah that started in the military.
I retired a year ago from the Air Force um as part of our annual, what do they call it, fitness and wellness assessment that we had to do online.
It specifically asked, do you own guns?
How many?
How do you store them?
Oh, yeah.
In fact, the the the the the it's not a new thing.
I may not have communicated this well, although that's very odd.
I think most people probably misunderstood me because I'm a brilliant communicator.
Um what what's happening here is this.
For the longest time doctors have been required to ask parents and kids.
I remember when this started, doctors were were instructed to ask kids to rent out their parents on guns they had.
That's some years ago.
There's been opposition has built up to this.
In Florida, they tried to pass a law to stop it.
What this is about today is ensuring that it doesn't stop.
They're trying to bring a screeching halt to the effort to stop the the the instance of doctor uh patient relationship with a doctor gains the information and passes it on.
Uh that's why the reference to Obamacare.
If you go back and you if you read Obamacare, Obamacare does limit, despite what the president said in his little release today, Obamacare does limit the government when it comes to guns in terms of doctors and what they can collect, and they're trying now to reverse that.
That's what this is about today.
They're they're they're trying to stop any effort that would change what's already in place, which is doctors reporting on citizens via patient conference.
Well, the military has always been kind of a uh social experiment for what they can do in a hierarchical structure and then introduce it to the general public.
Since I was retiring, it's kind of a sense of freedom that you finally have, and I told the doctor it was none of her business, but you know, that was just what I did, and I could get away with it, but there's you know, every troop is getting asked these days.
Yep.
And and people are getting upset with it.
And they've never have liked it.
Um this this section in Obamacare, it's it's too much legal ease to read to you, but the summary of it this is does in fact limit what data the authorities can collect from patients, what what limit the doctors can collect from patients and report to the authorities.
And that section in Obamacare was put in by the NRA.
It was a SOP given to the NRA.
What what the regime is doing today is A saying no, it's not really there, Obamacare does not prevent this.
When it does, and it doesn't matter anyway because we're now gonna require it even more than we already have.
They have canceled all my babies' mamas at oxygen.
And I'm so sad.
I'm I'm just disappointed by this.
Export Selection
