Time Text
To have you with us, it's L. Rushball at the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies, and it is Friday.
Live from the Southern Command in sunny South Florida.
It's open line Friday.
Ah, yes, open line Friday, one of our favorite busy broadcast days of the busy broadcast week.
And I am your highly trained broadcast specialist.
Trained by my own instincts and guided by my own talent.
Which is on loan from God.
800-28288-2, the email address, L Rushmore at EIB net.com.
Okay, I have the press release that the guy who went to the Illinois unemployment office saw.
I'm holding it right here, my formerly Nick Athens statement.
I have it.
And he was right.
Now here's here's the deal.
Economic growth strong enough to close temporary unemployment insurance program.
That's the headline.
Long-term unemployment should visit JobLink.com.
Chicago.
Falling unemployment rates and steady economic growth means an extended unemployment insurance program ends this month.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security said today.
The expiring federal program.
By the way, the date of this thing is May the second.
The expiring federal program affects individuals who have collected benefits from more than 79 weeks.
The extended benefit program ends May the 12th because specific economic factors set forth by federal officials were met, such as the falling unemployment rate.
Illinois extended benefits claimants will be notified via mail and email.
Final payments will be issued during the two weeks following May 12th.
No further unemployment program exists for extended benefit exhaustees.
You ever heard that word?
Exhaustees.
So here's the deal.
More than 200,000 Americans are going to lose their unemployment benefits this weekend.
That's when eight states roll off the federal extended benefits program.
Nearly half of these 200,000 exhaustees live in California, Florida.
Well, half of them live in California.
The rest are in Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, Colorado, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
The federal extended benefits program has provided the jobless with up to 20 weeks of unemployment after they've run through their state and federal emergency benefits, which together last up to 79 weeks.
The extended benefits program is expiring throughout the country when your state unemployment rate drops.
So Obama, what's happening here?
I actually kind of like it now.
Now wait.
Obama's stabbing himself in the back here.
200,000 Americans are losing.
There's no more 99 weeks in these eight states, and it's going to be more states as the regime keeps reporting the unemployment rate going down.
They are at the same time kicking their own voters off the unemployment rolls.
Is what's happening here.
So the caller last hour who went in for the first time to sign up.
He won't be eligible for 99 weeks anymore.
He's going to get 79 weeks, is what's happening here.
Because the Fed 20-week example extension to take you to 99 weeks is ending because the unemployment rate has fallen to a uh previously agreed to level by federal officials.
This all goes back to deals made during the debt limit arguments.
But see, here's the the thing.
Now the Democrats politically keep a sharp.
This is how you are on a cutting edge here, folks.
Because while everybody's talking about Romney and uh gay marriage and all this.
The Democrats are already trying to blame the end of unemployment extensions on the Republicans.
Because this was part of the debt ceiling deal last August.
Now, this is a Democrat deal, but they're going to blame the Republicans for it.
And it wouldn't be happening if there was an honest unemployment rate being reported.
That's the great thing here.
Well, I say great thing, but the funny thing is the regime is stabbing itself in the back because they're faking the unemployment number.
Unemployment's not going down because people are finding jobs.
Unemployment's going down because the universe of jobs is shrinking.
The labor force participation rate.
88 million Americans aren't working.
16 million of them make up the 8.1% unemployment number.
So when you have a smaller universe of jobs against which you're calculating the unemployed, the percentage is going to go down.
The percentage two out of 10 is 20.
Two out of 15 is less than 20%.
What they're doing is lowering the universe number so that the percentage of people reported to be out of work goes down.
But it isn't true.
The unemployment number, everybody admits this.
Everybody knows that what the regime is doing is jimmying the numbers because they're shrinking the universe.
There aren't any new jobs being created.
Certainly not enough to lower the unemployment rate.
Obama's voters are getting shaft.
Well, if that's right, if fewer people would no, no, no.
Somebody just said if fewer people had given up working, they would get their benefit.
No.
The regime is just maybe this is what people don't understand.
Maybe this is where I failed to communicate.
The administration is just arbitrarily telling us that there are two to two and a half million fewer jobs today than there were when Obama took office.
They're just whatever number they have to make up to make the unemployment rate drop.
The number of people in the labor force is not a factual statistic.
The regime is making it up in order to get the unemployment rate down.
So because Obama, obviously, the calculation here is the unemployment rate goes down, people think jobs are being created, people are going back to work.
We can easily sell an economic recovery.
But the problem, even when that number went from 8.2 to 8.1, did you know the media, they were not excited about this.
They even I was amazed.
The media reporting it was actually they told us the truth.
The numbers going down, not because of new jobs being created, numbers going down because more and more people are out of the workforce.
And people start scratching, how can that be?
If more and more people out of the workforce, how can the number go down?
Right, exactly.
Now you get it.
In the old days, when America was really America, the unemployment rate went down because people were being hired.
Now the unemployment rate's going down because people not only are not being hired, they're not even looking for work.
And then beyond that, they're not even being counted as looking for work.
So because of essentially an artificially low unemployment number, Obama voters are losing their unemployment benefits.
This is what when the guy told the story, this is what I couldn't believe.
That's why I thought if Andrew Breitbart was still alive, he printed this press relief and put it in there in all these unemployment off.
Because like this guy called me.
This guy called, he was shocked.
My benefits have been because I mean they say the economy, he knows the economy is not roaring back.
He knows the economy's not robust.
He doesn't find a job.
Where is he?
He's the unemployment office.
Why?
Because he can't find a job.
And he gets there and he reads about how good the economy's doing.
And that his benefits are going to get cut.
And if he had any intention of voting for Obama, I guarantee you can be scratching his head.
Because all Obama's out there doing is talking about all the benefits that you can get.
So if this is you're going to have to find a way you people get over to Social Security Department and get on Social Security disability to make up for your unemployment benefit cuts.
Obama voters are being punished because of Obama's jiggering of the figures.
Their jobless benefits aren't being cut.
They're being seasonally adjusted, is what's happening here.
The unemployment rates being seasonally adjusted.
People are losing their benefits.
This is priceless.
This is priceless.
Poor guy goes in, get his unemployment, can't find work, gets a notice here that the economy is doing so great that his benefits are being cut.
He says this doesn't make any sense.
I got to call Russia and find out what's going on.
And so he did.
One stop shop here, folks.
Be right back.
Okay, so here's there's no question what's what's going to happen here.
Hey, put this in perspective for you.
200,000, it's actually 239,000 people.
This this'll end it.
I just want to close the loop here.
239,000 people this weekend are losing their unemployment benefits, the people at 99 weeks.
Eight states unemployment rate has fallen enough that nobody will get benefits after 79 weeks.
The federal extension to 99 weeks ends in these eight states.
It's part of the debt deal, debt limit deal last August.
Don't think Obama doesn't know about this.
They've made a calculation.
What you are next going to hear intensely is that this is a Republican plan.
They forced Obama to go along with this.
This was what's part of the deal to raise the debt limit last year.
And so next week, when when this starts to hit, people show up and they they sign up for their extension, they don't get them, it's gonna be hell to pay.
Next week, if not this week on the Sunday shows, is when the all-out assault on the Republicans being responsible for this is going to hit.
And it's I'm I have no doubt in my mind it is a calculated political move, much like the student loan interest rate was.
And to refresh your memory on that, in 2007, the Democrats ran everything that year.
They ran the House and the Senate, Bush and the White House, of course.
The Democrats decided to uh cut the student loan interest rate in half, and then also the Democrats in the House and the Senate voted to restore the student loan interest rate,
current level in July of this year, which would have the effect, but the impression would be that the student loan interest rate is doubling in July of this year, when all that was happening was it was being restored to where it was in 2007 when the Democrats cut it.
Democrats cut it in 2007 and plan to restore it in 2012 as a presidential election issue.
They, of course, couldn't know in 2007 whether the Democrats have the White House or not, but they were pretty confident given the country hated Bush and the media was drumming up uh they figured it was gonna be Hillary in 2007.
So they as an insurance policy, they have this uh student loan interest rate doubling.
And of course, if they're running the show in 2012, when it when it goes back up, they can just themselves get rid of it quietly, no attention being paid to it.
But now the news is out, the student loan interest rate's gonna double.
The Republicans want your student loan interest rates to increase when the Republicans have nothing to do with it.
All this while Boehner was actually trying to pass legislation to keep the student loan interest rate where it is.
Same thing's happening here with unemployment.
The 99-week extensions end during a presidential year.
So the calculation Obama has made is really quite simple.
He wants voters to be without their unemployment during an election year so that he can blame the Republicans for it and profit from it.
So no money, no food, no job is how Obama benefits.
According to his calculation, according to his strategizing, his and Axlrods, the Chicago way.
Let's make people hurt.
Let's bring some pain.
Let's calculate when it would be best for their unemployment benefits to end with no extension.
And then blame them.
We'll do that in an election year and blame it on the Republicans.
And that's what's going to happen.
And then sometime next week, I'm going to be deluged with phone calls from you.
And if you say, Rush, why don't the Republicans?
And I'm going to say, as I've been saying since 1988, I don't have the foggiest idea why the Republicans don't do X in response to it.
But there's Obama in Seattle last night.
You know, sometimes I forget how bad the recession is.
I wonder if Obama forgot the recession ended three years ago.
By his own calculation.
Let's go back to the phones.
It's open line Friday.
Here's Sam Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.
Thank you for waiting.
Great to have you on the program, sir.
Mr. Big.
Mr. Big of the vast right wing conspiracy.
Exactly.
Russia's a lexicon in Washington.
White House correspondents going to change for using the bully pulpit term.
It's an interesting question.
The president has the bully pulpit.
But being a bully isn't cool.
Will they stop using the term bully pulpit?
I don't know.
What do you think?
I think they should in the current uh current uh vocabulary that's going on.
But Rush, it's open line Friday.
Can I touch base on one thing with you?
Sure, what is it?
You remember way back when they started the TSA?
They held Bush's feet to the fire that they had to be unionized before they would uh uh agree to that.
I have a vague recollection of that, yes.
So they were holding their feet to the fire to unionize them, and the Democrats are just horrible in holding that up.
And also that last guest, uh 20 weeks from now the unemployment will run out, and you're exactly right in September.
They're gonna use that as a political chip to show how mean the remote is.
Oh, yeah.
Well, it's it's gonna be see this is the thing.
It's expiring in eight states this weekend, but as they continue to lower the unemployment rate, more states unemployment extensions will end throughout the summer.
More people losing unemployment benefits throughout the this is the Obama's rolling the dice that he can blame this pain on the Republicans.
And who knows?
Look what the media did with Romney.
Look at this phony, fraudulent story, front page Washington Post.
Not even Joe Scarborough believed it.
And you know, over at uh uh I'm gonna I'm told that Scarborough they had Mark McKinnon on there today, he was Bush's media guy, he's head of this group called No Labels.
And McKinnon said what this means is that nobody can ever run for president again.
And what he means by that is who the hell is gonna subject themselves to this kind of stuff to run for president?
Who's gonna do it?
And he pointed out that fewer and fewer women are seeking public office, and he's assuming it's because they don't like the media anal that they get.
Look what happened to Nikki Haley, totally exonerated after how many months of charges of fraud and whatever she had been involved in.
There was never anything to it.
What McKinnon I well I didn't see the show, so I don't know if he mentioned it or not.
It's not that nobody can run for president because the Washington Post doesn't do this to Democrats.
They do it to George Allen, Makaka.
They're doing it to Romney on the front page.
But this does not happen to Democrats.
Any Democrat can run for office.
I said Romney wasn't at Chappaquibick.
Romney was not accused of rape.
Romney didn't have an affair with a mob gal, an actress who later committed suicide.
Romney didn't father a child out of wedlock.
And then ask some heiress to pay for it.
Romney didn't support the tapping of Martin Luther King's phone.
And Romney, never a member of the Klan.
And Romney didn't lie about his law school grades.
But every one of those people, Ted Kennedy, Chappaquittick, Bill Clinton rape, John Kennedy, mob gallon actress, John Edwards, child out of wedlock.
Martin Luther King's phone, Robert Kennedy tapped his phone.
Robert Byrd, member to Ku Klux Klan, law school grades.
Gosh, it's Ted Kennedy again, and who knows how.
And all those things happen after high school.
And they don't matter.
Don't hurt Democrats with that stuff.
But a made-up story about Romney.
Front page news.
Hi, welcome back.
L. Rush Ball on the cutting edge of societal evolution.
According to CNN Money.com.
By the beginning of September, the unemployment benefits will disappear in another seven states, leaving Alaska as the sole state to offer extended unemployment benefits.
So what this means is that by September, no states will have extended unemployment benefits.
Happening in an election year.
It is going to be incumbent on Romney and the Republicans to explain why this is happening.
What timing is this?
I'm glad that guy from Illinois called us.
Because this is major.
Every state by the time we get to September except Alaska will lose its extended unemployment benefits, meaning nobody beyond 79 weeks.
All of those between 79 and 99 get zapped.
And the Republicans are going to get blamed for it.
And it's going to be up to Romney and the Republicans to explain why this is happening, who did it, and what's behind it.
And you know what Obama knows?
Obama knows it's going to be how can the Republicans come out and say, well, the unemployment rate isn't really 8.1.
It should be much hard.
I mean, you can say it, but but who wants to talk about how Rodney economy is?
They should.
But it's almost too complicated to try to explain in a 30 or 60 second TV ad.
Now the the deal ending the 20-week extension from 79 to 99 weeks was done in February of this year.
It was not, I mistakenly said that it was part of the debt deal in August.
It was done in February of this year.
So it's a campaign year tactic.
Okay, who's the Jacksonville, Florida?
Hi, Scott.
Great to have you on the EIB network.
Keeper Sutherland Touch Megative O's from your number one listener, Jacksonville Ford.
Thank you, sir, very much.
I am a frequent customer of two of by tea, and I have it delivered to my office, you know, so I don't have to deal with it at home.
Well, my secretary the other day, I'm walking by and opened my box.
What is that?
I said it's two of my tea.
And she goes, is that Rush's tea?
I said, Why, yes, it is.
And I really prefer the raspberry with sugar.
And she goes, Can I try one?
Well, I was not willing really, but I said, okay, you can have a one bottle of two if by tea.
When I came in this morning, she goes, What's the website address to buy it?
It's the best tea I've ever had.
Wow.
That's a wonderful open line Friday call.
That's a wonderful open line Friday story, Scott.
You gave her the correct address, right?
Uh Rush2F by tea.com.
That's right.
No, no, not Rush, just two if by tea.com.
Two if I t.com.
Two if by tea.com.
So um one bottle is all it took for her, right?
It's all it took of the raspberry.
I've tried the blueberry, it is great.
I haven't tried the sugar-free yet, but the raspberry is my favorite.
Well, everybody has their favorites.
And Raspberry is uh is is at the top.
Peach, they're all good.
And the unsweetened, the plain old tea, that's new this week.
In fact, there it is.
Bottle right there.
And the label is cool.
It's me in an airplane, plain old tea, instead of on the uh on the Paul Revere horse.
Scott, appreciate the call.
Thanks.
Very much.
It is the best tea in the country, folks.
And I look, it's it's hard for me to say that.
I don't tout my own stuff.
I'm not good at it.
I really am not good at it.
I mean, you know, even when I pay myself, you know, I I I buy two of by Tico.
I pay myself to run these commercials.
And I still, it's tough to tout.
I mean, it's not because it's the it is it's the best iced tea you've tasted in this country.
There's no comparison.
But I just get I don't know.
Like buy my book.
Uh buy my coffee mug.
But I just I'm not good at that.
Anyway, Kimberly Strasser, Strassel in the Wall Street Journal today with an amazing piece.
Trolling for dirt on the President's List.
Listen to this.
Here is what happens when the president of the United States publicly targets a private citizen for the crime of supporting his opponent.
Frank Vandersloot is the CEO of Melaluca, Incorporated, 63 years old.
Melaluca is a wellness products company.
He's run it for 26 years out of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Last August, Mr. Vandersloot gave a million dollars to restore our future.
The super PAC that supports Romney.
Three weeks ago, an Obama campaign website, Keeping the GOP Honest, took the extraordinary step of publicly naming and assailing eight private citizens who back Romney, titled Behind the Curtain A Brief History of Romney's Donors.
The blog post accused the eight guys of being wealthy individuals with less than reputable records.
Mr. Vandersloot was one of the eight, smeared particularly as being litigious, combative, and a bitter foe of the gay rights movement.
After a week after that post, about a week after that post, a man named Michael Wolf contacted the Bonneville County Courthouse in Idaho Falls in search of court records regarding Mr. Vandersloot.
Specifically, Mr. Wolf wanted all the documents dealing with Mr. Vandersloot's divorces as well as a case involving a dispute with a former Melaleuka employee.
Mr. Wolf sent a fax to the clerk's office, which Miss Strossel says that she obtained, listing four cases he was after.
He would later send a second fax, asking for three further court cases dealing with either Melaleuca or Mr. Vandersloot.
Mr. Wolf listed only his name and a private cell phone number.
Some digging revealed that Mr. Wolf was, until a few months ago, a law clerk on the Democrat side of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.
He's found new work.
The ID written out at the top of his faxes identified them as coming from Glenn Simpson.
That's the name of a former Wall Street Journal reporter who in 2009 founded a Washington company that performs private investigative work.
The website for that company, Fusion GPS, describes itself as providing strategic intelligence with expertise in areas like politics.
It's a polite way of saying opposition research.
When Kimberly Strassel of the Wall Street Journal called the main number at Fusion, asked to speak to Michael Wolfe.
A man said Mr. Wolf wasn't in the office that day, but he'd be coming in Monday.
So when I reached Mr. Wolf on his private cell, he confirmed that he had until recently worked in the Senate.
When I asked what his interest was in Mr. Vandersloot's divorce records, he hesitated, and then said he didn't want to talk about that.
When I asked what his relationship was with Fusion GPS, he hesitated again, said he had no comment.
It's a legal thing, he said.
Fusion dodged Kimberly Strassel's call, so she couldn't ask who was paying it to troll through Mr. Vandersloot's divorce records.
Mr. Simpson finally sent an email stating Frank Vandersloot is a figure of interest in the debate over civil rights for gay Americans.
As his own record on gay issues imply or amply demonstrates, he's a legitimate subject of public records research into his lengthy history of legal disputes.
All he did was donate a million dollars to Romney Super PAC, and Obama's opposition research people are after him to destroy him.
Publicly.
A look through Federal Election Commission records did not show any payments to Fusion GPS or to Mr. Wolf from political players such as the DNC or the Obama campaign or liberal super PACs.
Then again, when political groups want to hire researchers, it's not uncommon to hire a less controversial third party, which then hires the researchers.
That all changed in January with the first super PAC disclosures.
Liberal bloggers and media have since dug into Vandersloot's past.
They've dredged up long ago Idaho controversies that touched on gay issues.
His detractors have spiraled these into accusations of Mr. Vandersloot is a gay bashing thug.
He's become a national political focus of attention, aided by the likes of partisan salon blogger Green Glenn Greenwald and MSNBC host Rachel Meta bloggers have harassed his children visiting their local media, social media accounts, and asking for interviews and information.
Mr. Vandersloot said that his attackers of misconstrued facts made false allegations in February wrote a long reply, publicly stating that he has many gay friends whom I love and respect who should have the same freedoms and rights as any other individual.
The Obama campaign's response in April was to single out Vander Sloot, repeat the slurs.
Now, Mr. Vandersloot acknowledges that quote when I first learned that Obama's campaign had singled me out on his enemies list, I knew it was like tapping a target on my back.
The more he's thought it through, the public beatings, the false accusations that followed are no deterrent.
These tactics will not work in America.
He's even contemplating a second donation to Romney Super PAC.
Still, concludes Kimberly Strassel of the Wall Street Journal.
If details about Mr. Vandersloot's life become public, and if this hurts his business or those who work for him, it'll s Obama, who bears responsibility.
This is what happens when presidents the president makes a list.
This goes back to the Romney Washington Post story a couple days ago.
Much of it now made up.
Front page, something Romney allegedly did against a presumed homosexual back 50 years ago.
Thankfully, there are questions all over the place about the accuracy of the Washington Post story.
ABC News questioning it, the family questioning it.
But still, it's patently obvious what's going on here.
The Obama administration is working hand in hand with all of these different left wing groups and blogs, and you name it, and mainstream journalists to systematically personally try to destroy anybody who gives money to Romney and Romney himself.
It's like Mark McKinnon said, holding up the Washington Post story, this means nobody can run for president.
And I should add on the Republican side.
Democrats do not get this kind of media anal exam.
They just don't.
As I've demonstrated over and over again today, with the names of highly reputed Democrat people Like Ted Kennedy and John Edwards, Robert Kennedy, Robert Byrd, all of these stellar, above reproach men, about whom nothing was found to be problematic with anything they had done.
But make up a story about Romney.
Time it to Obama's supposed evolution on gay marriage, which again I have to stress, Obama didn't say anything.
Not the meter didn't move.
There's not one thing new in the gay marriage movement.
Other than gay advocates are opening their checkbooks and sending money out the Wazoo to Obama, but not one thing has happened to advance the notion of gay marriage by Obama or anybody else.
Gay marriage, a social issue, is now a primary campaign issue.
Gay marriage, social issue, and who has introduced it?
Not the pro-lifers.
Not those people in the South that the Republican establishment hates.
Nope, it's not the preachers.
It's not the pro-lifers.
It's not the NRA people.
No way, Jose.
No, the people introducing social issues into this race.
Barack Obama and everybody beneath him on the flow chart.
They are the ones.
Barack Obama is attempting to win the presidency on the issue of gay marriage and gay bashing.
I need to amend that.
Barack Obama is attempting to raise money on that issue and on that basis.
Gotta take a brief time out, a little long in this segment, but we'll make it up when we get back.
Don't go away.
Okay, so Barack Obama and his opposition research people make it a public project to destroy the reputational livelihood of this Vanderslute man who donated a million dollars to Mitt Romney's super PAC.
What is the warning?
You give money to Romney, I'm coming after you too.
You got anything to hide, and who doesn't?
Who doesn't have something they'd rather people not know about?
If you give money to Romney, I'm coming after you.
So it's an intimidation factor, as well as the impact on Vandersloot, which is personal destruction.
Thankfully, Vandersloot's got a spine and says, I'm gonna double my donation.
Who's next?
Tom and Thousand Palms, California.
Great to have you on the EIB network.
Hello.
Rush, how are you?
It's a pleasure to talk to you.
I actually got to meet you the last time you came out here and played in the bottle.
You were uh kind enough to spend some time and walk with me from T to Green, and it was right after you got your uh cochlear implant.
And I just want the people to know that you're every bit the gentleman and and kind soul that you sound like you are.
Now you can destroy my image out there.
Uh-oh, I don't want to do that.
No, thanks.
No, no, no.
Thank you very much.
I appreciate that.
You bet.
You bet.
Well, I do have the 30-second spot, though, or the 60-second spot because last night on a CBS affiliate, and and I pulled it up on the internet so your folks can verify, it's uh come to light how many illegals are getting tax refunds without even a social security number, and they're having the money sent from our treasury straight into Mexico to the tune of over four billion dollars, Rush.
They they don't even have a social security number.
They claim all these people that are living in their house, and they're not, that there's a was actually a tax preparer that tried to.
Where did you see this?
It came through the internet on an email from a CBS affiliate, and I I'm sorry because while I was waiting for you, I had to go make a delivery.
I have a small business here, so I pulled away from, but if you Google it right now and put illegals.
Oh, well, I now I I I'm familiar with the story.
I've seen the last couple of weeks, three weeks, that that uh IRS refund checks are going to be illegals.
I did not know it had totaled four billion dollars.
I had not heard that number.
I did I just remember, I read so much, I scan the stuff, and I remember seeing the story that illegals are getting credit for dependent children, is how it's being done, that don't have Social Security numbers.
But I think it was $4 billion.
I don't know.
I shouldn't be surprised, should I?
Should you?
There is a new book out about the Clintons.
And Bill Clinton in this book is quoted as describing Barack Obama in very uncomplimentary, unflattering terms.
Now, the book is by a man named Ed Klein.
Export Selection
