New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees says that they are very close to a settlement.
And I keep tabs on this NFL stuff.
I don't talk about it a whole lot recently because there hasn't really been a whole lot to say, but it does now.
As I've been trolling through various places that I, and people, they're pretty close.
The supposed lone remaining obstacle is the rookie wage scale, which is a toughie, as the players do have a point in one of their points of opposition to it.
Greetings and welcome back, Rush Limbaugh, the EIB network, the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies.
So the dates that are being bandied about within the circles of people that know is July 17th to 21 for a solution or ratification.
The owners meet in Atlanta on July 21st.
Let's hope they don't have to go to public school system.
My God, folks, have you been keeping up with this?
Well, we've been telling you about, what a stupid question to ask an audience.
Have you been keeping up with it?
My job to keep you up to speed on it.
We have been.
It is amazing.
This Atlanta school cheating scandal.
And now a similar thing has been discovered in a Pennsylvania school district.
And all of the cheating is oriented around teacher test standards and requirements and trying to pass them and exceed them.
And basically just passing the students whether they're learning anything or not.
So the teachers are off the hook.
I mean, it is one of the most irresponsible, deep-rooted scandals in all of public education.
I remember, I've told you the story of there's a teacher here.
I hope this teacher hears about this.
I hope this teacher knows who she is when I tell this story.
I don't know her name, but in a school in the magical portion here of South Florida, there is this far left-wing nut that teaches history to junior high-end school students, except that she doesn't.
She teaches modern current events as though she is a news anchor.
And she inculcates the young skulls full of mush in her classroom with every aspect of liberalism.
She teaches them about global warming.
She teaches them that Republicans want to starve kids and the elderly.
And it's a never-ending, anti-conservative, anti-Republican diatribe disguised as a history test or history class.
She gives the students tests, but tells them the answers.
She gives them the answers.
The students, when I first heard about this, I said, well, how come the students, they love it.
They're getting A's and B's and have to do anything to sit there and just listen to this nutcase rant for 50 minutes every day in class.
And they get an A for just sitting there.
She didn't even talk to them.
I mean, require them to participate much.
It just preaches to them.
There's a constant, constant leftist diatribe and fakes the tests, which is essentially what's going on in Atlanta.
Minus the left-wing.
I don't know if part of the Atlanta scandal is just turning the classroom over to liberal indoctrination.
I wouldn't be surprised if that's what's going on.
But it's the same scandal, except the kids are being given the tests, except it doesn't matter what they put down.
They're being passed.
And now the students, when they hear about it, are a lot of them are saying, I don't like this at all.
I mean, I thought I was learning something in here, and I may not know anything, and I've been passed.
They're playing with my future here.
Yep.
For the people who do it all for the children.
From the people who do it all for the kids.
Just totally messing with their futures, not concerned at all whether they're learning anything, simply faking the test results so that the teachers are able to show that they're passing their requirements, that their teachers, their students are learning, and therefore teachers are doing their jobs.
A newly named Texas Scruel District superintendent will take a paid leave of absence as trustees re-examine her previous post in Atlanta, where officials are investigating allegations of widespread cheating on standardized tests.
Trustees of the DeSoto Independent Scruel District held a lengthy closed-door meeting Monday night before Superintendent Kathy Augustine read a statement announcing she was taking the leave of absence through a mutual agreement with the board.
They got 9,000 students in this district in Dallas.
Georgia investigators say that 178 educators had cheated on standardized tests used to meet federal benchmarks.
Augustine denied having any knowledge of the test cheating while she was deputy superintendent, but she said Monday that the district could have put tighter controls on the test security.
The Dallas bunch hired her in April.
Her job pays $188,000 a year.
Next story in the stack.
Atlanta Public Scruels Chief, Human Resources Officer Millicent Few, has resigned her post after state investigators implicated her in a district-wide cheating scandal.
Few illegally ordered the destruction or alteration of documents, according to the state report released last week.
Reports said that Millicent Few, and it's spelled just like the word few, F-E-W, Millicent Few also made false statements to investigators.
Few, who could not be reached for comment Tuesday, denied the assertions.
Now, lying to investigators and destroying or altering public records are felonies under George.
Does anybody think these teachers, anything's going to really happen to them?
You think so, Snerdley?
Snerdley.
Oh, man, what a Pollyanna you are.
Snerdley sits there, tells me he thinks that some of the teachers and principals are going to go to jail.
Ha!
Really?
Yeah, right.
The urinal constipation demanding it.
Right, right, right, right, right.
Yes, sir, Rebob.
This is like Jimmy Hoffa Jr. assuring that his dad's going to go to jail.
Okay.
This, let's see, what is this?
This is the, in fact, I got a story here from the urinal constipation.
And what it is, is there's a letter written by a scroll board member in Atlanta who retired last night or night before.
In the letter, he outlines some interesting things, but listen to this quote.
This is the guy.
Departing words.
This is school board member Katim SL.
Kateem S period E L, as in Antoine Randall L.
The school board member Kateem SL wrote that resigning his seat on the Atlanta scroll board to take a job in New Jersey, get this, he's a school board member involved in the scandal, the cheating scandal.
What I wasn't able to do for children in Atlanta, I hope to accomplish in the city of Newark, where I have been asked to help lead Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg contribution of $100 million to turn around that city schools.
All you can do is laugh.
This is you don't think Fakeem L was he was not implicated.
Oh, he was not implicated in the scandal.
Although he didn't know anything about it, he wasn't implicated and didn't know anything about it.
Okay, okay.
We'll take him.
He didn't know anything about it, and he wasn't involved.
But he knows what happened to school kids in Atlanta, right?
So now he says, I'm going to go to New Jersey and do for the kids of Atlanta what I did.
Okay.
What I wasn't able to do for, oh, what I wasn't able to do.
As long as we're on ridiculous stories, Wall Street Journal, the CHICOMs reported surprisingly robust economic growth for the second quarter, a day after the Premier Wen Jabal signaled the continuation of anti-inflation policies that have fueled concerns about the potential for a slowdown.
GDP in the world's number two economy, the CHICOMs, expanded to 9.5% in the April-June quarter from the same period a year ago, slightly lower than the 9.7% in the first quarter.
Now, folks, stay with me on this.
The CHICOMs, a communist country, the CHICOM economy grew in the most recent quarter at a rate of 9.5%.
Our dear leaders in the Obama regime assure us that 5% growth for us is out of the question.
That we are looking at 1.8 to 2.2% growth in our economy for the next few foreseeable years.
One of the CHICOMs' biggest worries is too much bank lending.
While, of course, ours is not enough.
The CHICOMs are also complaining about inflation.
We also have inflation, even though our economy is growing at under 2%.
But still, did you ever think that you would live to see the day when the capitalist pigs at the Wall Street Journal would be envious of a communist country?
Did you ever live to see the day where you would be envious of a communist country's economic growth?
The Chikoms are growing at 9.5%.
There's a caveat here, if that's true.
I mean, they're ChiComs.
They're liars.
Just like our liberals, they lie.
But if it's true, a communist country is growing at about 9.5%.
We can't even hit 2%.
Hello.
Serving humanity, executing assigned host duties flawlessly is America's real anchorman.
America's truth detector and the doctor of democracy all combined as one harmless, lovable little fuzzball, El Rushbo, serving humanity.
Great to have you here.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Atlanta school thing, keep in mind here.
These teachers were given pay increases based on these results.
And this went on for 10 years.
The Atlanta screw cheating scandal, which Kateem SL didn't know anything about, went on for 10 years.
And they got pay increases based on falsifying the test results of their pupils, of their students.
And now there is a quote-unquote investigation of the rapid rise of grades in Washington, D.C. in the public scruples there.
So we come up with a plan.
We want to hold teachers accountable.
We want to have them and their students meet performance standards, i.e. to indicate that they are learning and the teachers are teaching.
So, what do the liberal teachers do?
They cheat.
Whatever.
Look at the amount of time that probably went into planning and executing this.
Like, you know, when I was in school, I hated it.
I always, if I could have cheated, I would have.
If I could have looked at somebody else's scores or looked at somebody else's, I hated it.
I can't tell you how much I hated it.
I remember there was one guy who had elaborate cheating techniques.
Got caught.
Teacher said, yeah, if you would have spent half this time studying, you wouldn't have had to do any of this.
He said, yeah, but this was more fun.
And I understand that.
You know, concocting a scheme, that's what these Atlanta people did.
And Pennsylvania saw a story where there's looking into it there, Washington, D.C. I'll bet this is not contained in Atlanta.
I'll bet this is something.
Liberals are liberals wherever they happen to be.
All right, Eric and Tucson, we go back to the phones.
Great to have you with us on the EIB Network.
Hello, sir.
Hey, Rush.
It's good to talk to you.
I've listened to you a long time and really appreciated your insight.
Thank you, sir, very much.
Observations.
I am fired up today, really angry about this Mitch McConnell thing.
I'd like to regress to that if we could for a minute.
You're fine.
You go feel free.
You know, I've been a lifelong Republican and a conservative, grew up in a greatest generation house.
I'm your age.
My first election I voted in was for Richard Nixon and been voting that way since.
But yesterday I made Zell Miller my idol and my role model.
Miller, former congressman yeah, I know, I know him very well.
Yeah, he wrote his book.
You know, Party no More.
Well, yesterday I left the Republican Party over this Mitch McConnell thing.
Oh no, what did you do?
I just I said I can't do it anymore.
These guys have just continued to abandon the values you know that that we have elected them for and I can't take it anymore.
I just I said you know what?
I'm not a Republican anymore.
Well, but what did you go deregister?
I think I will.
I'm going to change my registration to what I'm not sure yet.
You know, I know you don't like independence, but I'm going to have to vote independently because I can't vote for these party guys anymore.
Well, I mean, there's a lot of people as angry as I am.
I know, I know, I know, I know, Eric, and these guys, this is not even a cave yesterday.
Imagine what would have happened.
You're, I think, an indicator, a leading indicator of what's waiting to happen out there.
He is, folks.
Eric is a leading indicator.
And what happened, the McConnell plan didn't even cave any because it doesn't have a chance of going anywhere.
But it did portray a mindset.
This is what he doesn't like.
And it portrayed, why are we giving up?
Why are we throwing in a towel?
That's what it felt like.
Am I right, Eric?
Is that what it felt like to you?
Yeah, it is.
You know, and they could win me back, but they would have to be some real bulldogs and fighters and stand on the principles and quit casing.
That's the only way they could ever get it.
Well, I have my hopes.
I think they will.
Stephen, in Birmingham, Alabama, we go back stay with the phones.
And hello, sir.
Great to have you with us.
Hi.
Oh, hey.
I can't believe I'm talking to the Rush Limbaugh.
You are.
I saw your show back in, I attended, I was in the audience in your show back in around 94 or so.
So I just want to say, thank God you are on our side.
I want to talk about this quote from, what's it, Kadim SL?
Is that the guy's name?
Let's find it here.
Well, something like that.
It is.
Here it is.
It's Ka Tim, K-H-A-A-T-I-M.
Katim S dot E-L.
Katim S-L.
Okay.
Well, this guy trashes the Atlanta school system.
Then he goes up to Newark because they pull guys in there like that because they send him up there to trust that place too because New York is the way it is because they hire guys like in the first place.
Then once he gets up there, he says that he has been getting all this money from Mark Zuckerberg and his personal fortune, you know, this wet behind the ears, Neuver Rich Internet billionaire who doesn't know his ass from third base.
And once he's been, and Zuckerberg himself has been goaded into doing this by, you know, Bill Gates, who wants everybody, all these, you know, really rich people to give away all their money.
I know, they're all giving it to Gates.
Gates has got all these guys giving him their money.
And Gates is the guy who's pumping huge amounts of his personal wealth into funding stuff like climate change.
No, Gates is by mosquito nets.
Oh, okay.
Pizzas into mosquito nets and other things.
Well, I've heard all these reports that he was pumping huge amounts of money into the climate change stuff when he could use that money for something that was actually constructive.
I don't know why it is.
Well, but these guys, look at they're like they're buying goodwill.
They're buying good media coverage, and that's what Zuckerberg's doing.
$100 million.
You know, how much money do you think Newark has squandered on education?
I know, I know.
It's just insane.
So they con Zuckerberg.
I don't know how Khan name, I mean, he might have come up with it on his own.
But usually people get hold of these guys who come into a lot of money and say, okay, the first thing you need is set up a foundation, a charitable foundation, a Mark Zuckerberg Foundation, or whatever it is.
And they give them the financial wherewithals and how it works.
And, you know, create a good image for yourself.
You fund this and you fund that.
And the magic word's education.
The magic word is education.
Throw any amount of money at anything that is ostensibly related to education and your hero.
You don't care.
After that, what happens?
You've already bought your goodwill.
You've bought your compassion.
You have bought your liberal approval.
After that, it doesn't matter what happens.
You know, you send the—and by the way, I don't think Zuckerberg's 100 mil goes in in a lump, but I think I read that.
But regardless.
Well, if they start caring about results now, it's going to be the first time.
That's not the point of this.
The point of this is not results.
The point of this is goodwill.
I care.
I'm a great guy.
I care about education.
I want to go back to our caller who said he'd bailed on the Republicans because of the McConnell plan.
Can't handle it anymore.
Doesn't want any caves and this kind of thing.
I want to illustrate here that most everybody in the Republican Party is distancing themselves from the McConnell plan.
The Republicans are not embracing it.
This is I'm not saying this to comfort anybody or to soft-sell anything.
I'm just telling you, it was not embraced by the party.
Democrats did, but the Republicans didn't.
And here's Jim DeMint.
This is an example of this on the early show today.
The co-host Chris Raggy, interviewing DeMint, said a new proposal was announced last night, yesterday, to allow the president to raise the debt ceiling three times through 2012.
Scott Pelley said there seemed to be a sense of relief in Washington this morning at McConnell's proposal.
Do you have that same sense of relief?
And what are your thoughts on Senator McConnell's deals?
Republicans weren't elected last November to make it easier to spend and borrow and add to our debt.
The president, unlike what he just said, has not sent us a proposal.
This idea that Republicans will not vote to increase the debt limit is wrong.
I've been working with House members and senators.
We're going to introduce a plan that would give the president an increase in the debt limit, but it's contingent on cutting spending and capping spending over several years and giving the states the opportunity to decide if we're going to balance our budget sometime in the next decade.
All right, so it seems a fait accompli.
The debt ceiling is going to get raised.
But here's DeMint not signing on the McConnell deal.
Now, the debt ceiling is going to get raised.
I haven't spoken to Senator DeMint about it, but I can tell you.
He is in favor of raising a debt ceiling, not because he wants to spend more.
He wants to spend less.
This is all about the full faith and credit of the U.S., the reputation.
It's embarrassing for the world's superpower to go into default.
These guys, that's what they want to avoid by not raising the debt limit.
And in DeMint's case, in most Republicans' case in the House, it's not about the ability to spend more because the deal that they'll sign and agree to for raising a debt limit requires massive spending cuts and no tax increases.
And that's the holdup because Obama, all he wants is to raise taxes and spend more money.
And they're no closer to a deal than they've ever been.
So Raggy, the CBS info guy, said, well, the president says the Democrats are willing to touch entitlements, but Republicans are steadfast in their belief that you can't raise taxes.
Are there any revenue measures in this new plan?
History tells us the only way to raise revenues is to get the economy going again.
And one of the worst things you can do to the economy is increase taxes on small businesses, which is the group that's in this category that the president's talking about.
The top wage earners in America are already paying the highest portion of national taxes of any country in the world.
10% pay over 70%.
And what the president's proposing will bring in such a small amount of revenue, it doesn't even deal with the problem.
So his proposal is totally political.
And again, he has not made any proposal in writing to deal with entitlements and to deal with any specific cuts.
So the president talks a lot, but we can't vote on a speech.
We can't vote on a speech.
We need to see a proposal.
You don't just get to sit there and play smartest guy in the room when you're the anything but and act like you had nothing to do with making this mess.
Let's see your proposal.
And Boehner echoed that again yesterday to Austin, Texas next.
This is Paul.
Great to have you on the Rush Limbaugh program.
Hi.
Rush, it's a great honor from Austin, liberal, I guess, surrounded by conservative counties.
I feel like the lone conservative artist in the whole Texas.
When I heard Conley throw out this proposal to give Obama Caesar-like power over the federal debt, I mean, that just floored me.
I could not believe it.
You mean Mitch McConnell?
Yes.
I'm sorry, Mitch McConnell.
When I heard that, you know, I wrote my senator and asked him, are you guys drinking something up there?
This is unbelievable.
Well, I know.
Here's the thing.
I explained this in great detail the first hour.
What he was.
I just got an email from some guy named Wyckoff who is just livid at my mispronunciation of words.
Well, he said it was funny for a while, but he's getting tired of it and wants me to stop it.
I like saying schedule instead of schedule or saying splain instead of explain.
He doesn't know why I'm doing it.
It just bugs him.
I get emails like that.
Now, Paul, what's behind this, as I explained in the first hour of the program, is that McConnell, they're nervous.
They're Republican.
I can't tell you how nervous they are.
They are so nervous.
They think it's 1995 all over again when Newton and Boys got snookered by Clinton.
They do.
No matter what we say out here, no matter what the Gallup poll says, they just, they think, they think they're about to get steamrolled again.
They're scared to death.
And so they can't, I guarantee you, McConnell is livid that Obama's getting away with this.
So I think the point of his plan here was, okay, you want to raise spending?
It's all yours, buddy.
Here it is.
Here's a plan.
You want to raise a debt limit?
It's all yours.
You can go do it three times between now and 2012.
You want to raise spending?
You go right ahead.
It's going to take two-thirds of us to say, no, you can't.
It was an attempt to put the onus all on Obama, the spending, and hold him accountable and shift to blame because they are sick and tired.
And you've got to be able to understand this.
If you're an elected Republican in Washington, you have to deal with this media for the last 30 years this way.
The rampant, I mean, if we just boil it down to the simple unfairness of it all.
And I'm not crybabying about it.
I'm trying to tell you 30 years of this, you'd be frustrated too.
So they throw the card, senior citizens and the military aren't going to get the checks.
All right, to hell with it.
You want to raise spend a go ahead.
It's all on you.
I think it's indication of frustration.
Can you imagine, let me tell you something.
Living in the residence quarters of the White House is a woman known as Obama's mother-in-law, Michelle Obama's mother.
She's 74.
That means that she is on Social Security.
Do you really believe that Obama is going to go home after work and tell his own mother-in-law that she's not getting her Social Security check?
Well, before you say no, he would, if he could blame it on the Republican, if he threw his own mother under the bus, if he threw grandma under the bus, typical white woman, I'll tell you, if his mother-in-law eating dog food a couple days would move the case forward, hell, no problem.
Good friend of mine just sent me a note.
And this really is a great codification of what's going on here, a summary.
Saving the country is not a game of setting up who gets blamed for destroying it.
And that's what the McConnell Plan is an attempt to do, is to blame Obama.
The McConnell plan is an effort to see that finally, somehow, some way, Obama or any Democrat president is going to get the blame for what they've done.
But saving the country is not a game of setting up who gets blamed for destroying it.
Saving the country is what we're all about here.
Now, those of you watching on the Ditto Cam, maybe for the first time, HDDittoCam, RushLimboy.com, you see sitting over my left shoulder two six-packs of beverage, one in blue shrink wrap, one in red.
That's tea.
Twoifbytea.com, brand new from me.
Twoifbytea.com, made, and I'm not kidding, made to taste the regular tea just the way my mother used to make it.
And it does.
Simple, satisfying, nothing overpowering about it.
Just great.
She used to make sun tea.
And our regular tea, my regular tea, tastes exactly like it.
Now, we started with two basic flavors at two if by tea, original and raspberry.
And we've used some of the finest traditional black tea available to make every flavor unique and delicious.
And by the way, we started taste testing two new flavors over the weekend.
I'll announce what the new flavors are in due course, but two new flavors are coming.
Right now, we've got raspberry and regular.
Finest black tea available to make each flavor unique and delicious.
The ingredients are picked by the finest pickers, selected by the finest selectors, produced by the finest producers.
If you're trying to cut back on calories, two if by tea is available in a diet version and the diet raspberry and the regular raspberry.
Diet raspberry is what I drink almost exclusively.
I love it.
It's my favorite.
And it's the flavor that is getting rave reviews.
We have a sponsor, meaning we sponsor the Great Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation.
They share in our success.
And what they do is provide college scholarships for the children of Marines killed in action.
And sometimes that program is extended to the children of members of other branches of the military killed in action in massive major 9-11 type of events.
And they've been great.
I've known these people since the mid-90s.
And they're just a wonderful bunch.
Now, the price, we sell it delivery only.
You can't get it in stores.
It's too good.
It's too special to be in stores.
Anybody can get tea in stores.
And we want to maintain a direct line of communication to you.
So we have two ways you can get it on our website, 2ifbytea.com or our call center, 866-662-1776.
866-662-1776.
It's a $23.76 per case, which is 12 bottles, 16 ounces, and the shipping is free.
Who else does that?
What other company does something stupid and idiotic like include shipping for free?
We do.
And it'll be there in three days.
Some people get it the next day, some people in two days.
So you try it, 2ifbytea.com or 866-662-1776.
Even if you don't like tea, you will love this.
If you're not a tea drinker, this will make you one.
If you are a tea drinker, you will love and appreciate this in a shocking, surprising way.
Janet in Swillow, Illinois.
Great to have you on the EIB Network.
Hello.
Hello, Last Man Standing.
Thank you.
This is your fellow neighbor in Realityville.
And you need to do something.
You need, you've been giving a tough love to the Republicans in Congress, but you need to give it to the Republican base.
They're going wobbly, Rush.
They're calling you.
And they're playing right into Obama's hands.
Wait a second now.
Yes.
What do you mean?
What I mean is Mitch McConnell has played the Crosshammer option.
This is what Crawhammer suggested a couple days ago.
And he's done it.
Wait, that's not...
I thought you said that the Republican base is going wobbly.
They are.
They are.
And listen to me.
We're in this message.
I am suggesting that we're in this mess because they didn't listen to you in 2006 when the Tom Foley scandal came out.
You told them not to stay home.
I know because I listened to you.
And that was a trick by the Democrats because they know how to get the base.
And what Obama's doing right now is to get the base.
The base is the strongest thing in this country right now.
It's the only thing in place to save this country.
Tell me how they're going wobbly.
Well, what was that caller that you just had that said the Republicans have lost him now with McConnell's deal?
McConnell just played an option, a test balloon.
It wasn't ever going to go anywhere.
I really don't believe Obama was going to sign it.
I do believe he's not going to close, send out Social Security checks.
No, but the reason, see, you're ending up at the truth here.
So why present?
The House wasn't going to sign it.
Obama's not going to sign it.
So why present it?
It's presented, and it looks like a white flag.
It looks almost like surrender.
Yeah, I know.
I know that.
I agree with that.
Well, that's all the guy was reacting to.
But listen, we've got to hold the line here.
We've got to prove we're big game players.
Come on.
We don't want to be defanged.
Obama is trying to crush us.
That's what's going on.
We're the target, not Granny.
He's already got her lined up for death panels.
And now he's pulling her check.
Well, hey, he's going to pull a plug in two years.
Let's wake up, America.
Let's hang tough.
Let's get behind this mess.
Wait a second.
I just read you the Gallup poll data, and that poll has replicated in other polls.
The American people are up speed.
The base isn't going wobbly.
You're reacting to this guy.
This guy told me he'll be back.
He wants to be one back.
I know.
I'm sick and tired of these people that need to be wooed.
We don't need to woo people.
You don't woo people when you're going off a cliff.
He's not, he's not going to vote Democrat.
No, he's going to stay home, Rush, or he'll go third party.
Oh, yeah, that's really going to work.
I'm being purposely sarcastic.
I'm trying to gin up the base, okay?
I understand.
I understand what you're doing.
I just don't think the base has gone wobbly.
There may be, you know, an example here and there.
You know, Snerdley goes out and finds one, and you're having a fit.
No, yes, okay.
I don't think the base has gone wobbly.
I'm not off rubber, okay?
Come on.
We've got to hold the line here.
Boehner, Eric Cantor, they've got to go for it.
We've got to take it to Obama's throat without Obama crushing the Tea Party.
I know.
That's the trick.
That's the fine line we've got to thread.
That's the needle.
And there's only one guy in America that knows how to do it, and I'm talking to him.
