Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 podcast.
Hey, folks, and welcome.
It's great to have you here.
Rush Limbaugh, The Excellence in Broadcasting Network, and the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies, another full week of broadcast excellence straight ahead.
And as I say, it's great to have you with us.
The telephone number, if you want to be on the program today, 800-282-2882.
The email address lrushball at EIBnet.com.
What an embarrassing weekend it has been for the media.
I mean, utterly, childishly, silly, embarrassing.
I knew it was going to happen the minute I heard about the shooting, got on the horn with some people, said, you wait.
It's in the template.
It's going to follow.
So predictable, so childish, so immature.
And it has led to a number of people making abject fools of themselves.
The sheriff of Pima County has made a fool of himself.
I don't know if he knows it yet or not.
Most in the state-controlled media, the drive-by media, illustrating why we call them the drive-by media, literally making fools of themselves to take an incident like this and to try to turn it into a political advantage by accusing people who have nothing whatsoever to do with this sordid, unfortunate event, accomplices to murder.
It's silly on its face.
It is beneath the people who made the attempt, but it's who they are.
Now, what they've done is essentially take aim at a majority of the people in this country.
A majority of the people in this country identify more with the Tea Party movement than with the Democrat Party today and with liberalism.
This is not 1988.
This is not 1993 when this program was the only new media out there and they still had the ability to control the message.
They had the ability to suppress the news.
They didn't want anybody to hear about it.
They had, frankly, total control over what was news, what wasn't news, and what was commentary on the news.
And ever since they have lost that monopoly in the media, they have been their own version, and to one degree or another, insane.
Now, one of the first acts of insanity is to take an obviously deranged, insane, irrational kid and try to analyze him with sanity and with rationality.
We're talking about a genuinely mentally disturbed kid.
My question is, who are the parents of this kid?
I find it fascinating that the media, many in the Democrat Party want to try to blame people who don't know this kid.
The kid never knew, the kid never heard, the kid never was exposed to.
They want to try to blame people genuinely who are ancillary, who are irrelevant to this for what the kid did for pure political reasons.
And there is a pure political reason for this.
And I'm going to tell you what it is.
And let me do this here at the outset, folks, because this is what all of this is really all about.
It is all political.
I was blamed for the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995.
We all know that Mark Penn said that an Oklahoma City type event is what Obama's going to need if he wants to get the American people back.
After 9-11 happened, Democrats are running around lamenting that it did not happen on Clinton's watch.
After the Times Square shooter happened, Mayor Bloomberg, it has to be an angry Tea Party person upset at Obamacare.
It's the template.
It's the narrative.
There's never any evidence.
Every projection, every prediction, every association that any act of violence has been made with the conservative right has fallen on emptiness.
There has never been any evidence of it.
To the extent that politics is involved in assassinations, Lee Harvey Oswald, JFK, he was a communist back from Moscow.
There's one example that nobody's talked about that I'm going to cite.
Remember Jim Jones?
There's one sitting congressman who actually been killed in the line of duty.
His name is Leo Ryan.
And this is Jim Jones in that cult down in Guyana.
And you may not be old enough to remember that, but during the course of the program today, I'm going to refresh your memory.
A full-fledged communist and Democrat killed a Democrat congressman.
Now, when these types of events happen, I don't recall, and I'm not aware of one conservative, one Republican, one conservative blogger making a mad dash to a microphone, a camera, or a computer to blame a Democrat or liberals for what happened in Arizona on Saturday.
But a mad path was beaten.
Now, don't kid yourself.
What this is all about is shutting down any and all political opposition and eventually criminalizing it, criminalizing policy differences, at least when they differ from the Democrat Party agenda.
One of the more disturbing things about this incident is that someday the left will finally get their wish.
One of these days, it's going to happen.
And this is all setting the table for it.
Groups are large.
Many people populate groups.
And within any large group of people, a sample is going to find those who are unstable, deranged, and so forth, like this kid.
You are eventually at some point going to probably find somebody who could be more closely identified with a particular political movement.
This kid's just a nut.
And they've done their best.
By the way, they're already moving off of this, folks, now talking about gun control.
That's the indication that they're preparing to move off of the fact that I, a Tea Party, Palin, all these other people are responsible for this.
They're now moving to gun control.
That was also something predictable.
When that happens, you know that they're beginning to change course on this.
Now, I guarantee you that somewhere in a desk drawer in Washington, D.C., someplace, in an FCC bureaucrat's office or someplace, the government machinery will be in place to take away as many political freedoms as they can manage on the left.
They already have it in place.
Just like the health care bill, Obamacare was already written years ago.
It was in a desk drawer waiting for the moment that they could begin to implement it.
The same thing here.
I wouldn't be surprised if somebody in the Obama administration or some FCC bureaucrat or some Democrat congressman hasn't already written up such legislation, is sitting in a desk drawer somewhere just waiting for the right event for a clapdown.
They have been tying this ever since the Oklahoma City bombing.
They have, You know, I debated with myself whether to, on this program today, cite and play for you audio examples of the left actually engaging in the behavior about which they have accused us on the right of behaving and engaging in.
I've gone back and forth on it, and I have a whole lot of audio sound bites to make this illustration, and I'm going to do so.
Decided that I'm going to do it because it needs to be done.
People need to be reminded.
But here you have a 22-year-old kid, a dope head, marijuana, just genuinely insane, irrational.
And the first thought, the desperate hope that the losers in November of 2010 had was that they could revitalize their political fortunes because of this unfortunate shooting of a congresswoman in Arizona.
That was the most important thing to them.
And that to me is sick.
You know that they were rubbing hands together.
You know that they were emailing and calling each other on the phone saying, aha, this might be the one.
This might be the one where we can officially tie it to these guys and shut them up and shut them down.
They want you to believe that sadness was on the order of the day, and I'm sure it was, but the opportunity couldn't help themselves.
They just couldn't help themselves.
Their first objective and first priority was to try to make an association between this nut and Sarah Palin.
What?
I mean, that's absolutely.
You talk about insane?
This guy doesn't know Sarah Palin.
She doesn't know him.
The really weak, flimsy balsa wood type attempts to link this guy to Sarah Palin.
The difference is the majority of the American people don't buy it.
The difference today and 15, 20 years ago is these people on the left are now seen by a majority of Americans for who they are and what they are.
They can't sell what they have to sell.
Real question: who are the parents of this kid?
What kind of a job did they do raising this kid?
Are the parents derelicts?
So what?
This guy spends time on the web surfing and so forth.
Really?
If people on the right and Sarah Palin and so forth are responsible for all of this, and this vitriol and rhetoric is so pitched, how come this isn't happening every day?
Why is it the vast exception to the rule?
There's no logic in any of the assertions that they're making.
None.
That they couldn't wait.
Chartering the planes, scrambling to get out to Arizona on Saturday for the Sunday shows to make connections that don't exist, making utter fools of themselves, embarrassingly so,
to watch people who we're told are the biggest names in news today making absolute fools of themselves and unnecessarily stirring the country up in ways that they probably don't even mind.
But back to this kid's parents.
Are they derelicts?
They just draw an unlucky card, get a kid born with mental issues.
Anybody investigating any of this?
Mental health issues like this, often caused by drug use, and this guy was so devoted to marijuana, he wanted it to become the new U.S. currency.
I don't know of anybody on my side of the aisle who suggested that.
I mean, it's fatuous and silly to even verify or justify these accusations by defending them.
Except the premise is insane, it's silly, and it's stupid.
It's beneath these people.
Or is it?
It is who they are.
Has anybody tried to institutionalize this kid?
The PAC mentality of the drive-bys has led them to ask none of these questions.
Why are we constantly admonished not to rush to any conclusions?
The president himself after Fort Hood, don't rush to any conclusions here.
Be very careful.
We don't want to make any unfair allegations or associations here.
Talk about Major Hassan on his shooting spree at Fort Hood.
Now the same politicians and reporters are bending over backwards to try and link this shooting to me, to Sarah Palin, to an entire industry, talk radio.
Only in these instances is something that said in the media said to influence public behavior.
Go out and try to tell these same people that one of their top-grossing movies has influenced abject perversion or radical behavior, and they will attack you left and right, saying that's entertainment stands alone.
People know the difference.
You go out and accuse them of engaging in work, their art, such as crucifixes in jars of urine or whatever other acts of perversion they engage in that they call art, their movies, their music.
You go try to tell them that their music is responsible for criminal behavior.
Look at the reaction you get from that.
You are considered to be a numbskull, old-fashioned, out, and not with the times.
As they permanently, constantly insulate themselves from any influential behavior they might be responsible for, and yet run off without any evidence whatsoever and admit they've got no evidence.
Use myself as an example during this ill-fated attempt of mine to be a part owner of the St. Louis Rams.
Fake quotes promoting slavery and other such despicable things were made up and circulated.
And we're finally, after it was too late, documented to be all lies.
Reaction was, yeah, well, probably thinks it anyway.
Well, one of the early posts was, there's no evidence that this kid's linked to blah, but it's a good bet that he was.
It's the same lame, transparent, purely political attempt by the American left to do what they cannot persuade the American people to do, and that is support them.
They know they can't, they lose elections left and right.
They got shellacked.
The only thing they can do is get rid of, silence the opposition.
All of this that you have been subjected to, if you've turned on the television over the weekend, has been pure politics, disguised as compassion and concern for a congresswoman.
It's been nothing but pure politics.
The same people.
Mark Penn, we've got the soundbite coming up.
Mark Penn pollster.
Obama needed his own Oklahoma City.
Said it to Chris Matthews on MSNBC, needs his own Oklahoma City.
What does that mean?
Obama needs mass murder in order to reconnect with the American people.
It's not us saying this kind of stuff.
It's not us hoping for this kind of stuff.
It's not us celebrating and clapping our hands when it happens.
It's them.
It's sick.
It's embarrassingly, depressingly sick.
And here's the tricky little nasty part that no one's going to talk about.
In fact, I have to take a timeout.
Let me do that because if I go on too much longer, I'll run through what I need to pause for.
I want to get into the real tricky little nasty part that no one's going to want to talk about, although I will right after this.
Here's a partial list of some of the incidents the left has tried to pin on conservatives, the Columbine shooters, the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, specifically.
They tried to blame me for that.
The D.C. sniper.
The New York City Times Square car bomb attempt.
Tried to blame that on some Tea Party or angry at the health care.
When we find out that was radical Islamists.
The February 2010 IRS plane attack in San Antonio.
Remember, that had to be an anti-government clown that flew that plane into the IRS office.
It had to be the Pentagon subway shooter.
The Fort Hood attack.
The Discovery Channel hostage taker.
And this guy, Bedell, who went into the Pentagon and wanted to shoot some people up.
This guy, by the way, is a dead ringer for Lofner.
Amy Bishop, who shot her colleagues at Alabama College.
The list goes on and on.
There are countless.
The list actually is never ending of incidents like this where the media is damn certain, damn well certain they can give Obama his OKC bombing.
They can give a Democrat president some kind of massive murder or disaster caused by conservatives.
That remains the number one effort.
They sit around and they wait for these events to happen, hoping and praying that what they know are lies, what they know are false allegations, non-existent associations can somehow be made to be believed by the public at large.
How come it took the media so long to discover that there is an altar in the Lofner backyard?
This kid was into the occult.
Was there God in this guy's life?
The kid was evil.
He was insane.
Was God in his life?
Can't ask that, I guess.
A media army has been camped out in Arizona for two solid days.
They didn't want to report that there is an altar with a skull devoted to all kinds of occult, odd things in this kid's backyard because that would undercut their message that this was a tea party type guy.
So they can't report some things here that are absolutely true.
So hell-bent are they on perpetuating a fraud.
It really is embarrassing.
It's even beneath them.
All right, the tricky little nasty part coming by that phone call.
Let's not forget, folks, that during the Bush administration's second term, there were two.
We were told enlightened literary and film events, both about the assassination of George W. Bush, that we should not react to in an outraged way, that we should understand the literary and artistic intention of the artists involved.
One was a movie made in Canada that actually depicted George W. Bush being assassinated.
The other was a book, somebody I think living in Washington, How to Assassinate George W. Bush.
There was no attempt during these two events to do anything to castigate these people or to associate them with extreme, insane lunatics who might act it out at Daily Cause or the Democrat Underground or the audiences of MSNBC.
But I don't think you can find one illustration of, you know, I'm not even going to address the premise.
I've heard people, I've seen people say about Gabrielle Gifford's, you know, she doesn't even fit the profile of somebody, somebody the Tea Party would not like.
I'm not even going to defend that premise.
The point is the Tea Party doesn't run around committing assassinations.
The Tea Party doesn't commit violence, period.
There is no need to defend the Tea Party under the premise set forth here that they are a violent mob, which is exactly what the left wants us to do.
We don't write books about how to assassinate anybody, and if it happened, I guarantee a Secret Service would be on our case.
And if such things did happen, we wouldn't be defending it as art and telling people, back off now, don't be hasty about reacting.
We must understand what the artists are telling us.
Whether they dip a crucifix in a jar of urine or whatever it is they do, we're told, oh, react with reason and restraint here.
I just said that all this is even beneath them, and I've got to correct myself.
Unfortunately for the country, we're learning today that nothing is beneath today's mainstream media.
Nothing is beneath the Democrat Party.
Nothing is beneath the American left.
We on the right, ladies and gentlemen, have led the charge against Congress and the professional political class for noble and obvious reasons.
I can't speak for others who do what I do, but I'm not going to be silenced by this.
The people leveling these charges on baseless, non-existent evidence have racked up a $14 trillion national debt.
The people who are desperately hoping to make some significant legitimate tie-in between Sarah Palin and this kid are on the verge of bankrupting the country.
The United States Congress has an 11% approval rating for a reason.
They have done a lousy job.
They have spent the money of children and grandchildren.
And I and people who do what I do have pointed this out, pointed out their folly every step of the way, but at no time has anybody who does what I do or I ever called for violence, have never subtly promoted it, have never gone anywhere near it.
Thomas Jefferson said all tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.
Fact of the matter is, it is our right and our duty to continue to criticize the very people who've put the fate of our country in peril, and it is.
So, I would say to all who do what I do: hold your heads high and turn this back on the media and the Democrats who are co-conspirators in policies that are bankrupting this country and risking the future for our children and grandchildren.
Here we have a disturbed kid.
Do you realize that Mr. Lofner has been stalking Gabrielle Giffords since at least 2007?
He has.
Way before anybody ever heard of Sarah Palin, way before there even was a Tea Party.
This guy has that you've probably all seen by now a woman who the media is trying now to call a sellout.
She describes herself as a left-winger libertarian at times, who knows this kid is telling everybody who will listen what a left-wing radical he was, if anything at all.
They're now trying to destroy her.
And she's anonymous up until then.
She's all but all she's doing is whether she even knows it or not, going against the grain of the template and the narrative that they are trying to establish here.
You have this obviously deranged, insane, emotionally disturbed kid.
And what I want to know is, where is the left's vaunted safety net?
We've spent hundreds of millions, billions, trillions by now, trillions of dollars at local, state, and federal levels to kind of catch these disturbed people and fix them before they harm others.
Where is the evidence that their compassion for people like this works?
There isn't any.
What evidence do we have that they are willing to use events like this?
That they privately approve of events like this for the sake and the opportunity to advance what are obviously sick and perverted political ideas.
They will use anyone.
They will use any event.
They will take what is a genuine tragedy and with no evidence whatsoever attempt to massage it for their own political benefit.
And they can't do it by touting their ideas.
They can't do it by explaining the virtue of their ideas, their beliefs, and their system because they can't.
So what do they have to do?
They have to impugn, destroy, get rid of, regulate out of business their political opponents in media if they are to have a chance.
In other words, the only way the modern Democrat Party, the American leftist movement, is to have a chance is if there is no opposition.
So a genuinely sad event like this is immediately used to advance a political notion.
And not that liberalism is good.
Not that liberalism, socialism is the answer.
No, the attempt here is to impugn, to besmirch, and to destroy the ideas of those of us who are trying to preserve the country we all know and love as it was founded.
What they fail to realize is that this isn't 1995 anymore.
This isn't 1963.
It isn't 1975.
It's 2011.
We have seen them through the Wellstone Memorial.
We have seen them take the unfortunate death of one of their own and the memorial service to his memory turned into a purely out-of-control political effort.
They ended up losing the midterm elections that year in large part because of it.
They got trounced last November down to dog catcher level through 95% of this country.
In continuing this template and narrative that the Tea Party, that Sarah Palin, that talk radio, that Fox News is inspiring violence.
They forget that in the process of so doing, they are attacking what is now a majority of Americans.
They are accusing a majority of Americans of being accomplices to murder.
They are accusing a majority of Americans because it isn't just Palin, it's the people who voted for it.
It isn't just me, the people who listen to me.
It's not just all the other names that have been mentioned, Beck and Levin and Hannity and Fox News people.
It's the people who listen and watch.
Over half the country has been indicted Saturday afternoon, Saturday night, all day yesterday, and much of today for the actions of one lone, deranged, and by the way, the FBI is out now with a profile.
Yes, it is, ladies and gentlemen, ABC News grimacing and reporting that the FBI Director Robert Mueller, said Congresswoman Giffords, was definitely the target of the shooter.
His team is working with local officials here, and the investigation is moving fast.
Mueller's investigation is showing a clear picture.
There was a lone, angry, disenfranchised young man who was solely responsible for this shooting.
That's a branch of the Obama government saying that.
Lone, disenfranchised, angry young man.
But the American left and many in the media are trying to say that he was inspired by you.
You listen to me.
You voted for Palin or McCain or what have you.
This is where they're not getting it.
People can see through their manipulative attempts now because they're common and they are routine and they are predictable.
They're also very destructive, which is another purpose they have in mind.
Keep everybody at odds with one another, keep everybody royaled.
I actually heard, I don't even wonder what she looked like.
I saw her for the first time today, Liz Sadoti, Liz Sedotti, this AP reporter.
We read from her deranged pieces on this program frequently.
She's on TV this morning, explaining what this really meant was how the American people want to move to the center and how they did in the November elections.
And I look, I'm scratching my head.
Do you realize what you're just saying?
You've just undercut 36 hours of attempts by your friends to blame this on Republicans because this great unwashed independent center moderate movement voted Republican.
They clearly expressed what they don't want any more of.
And it's the Democrat Party.
Nobody talks about a Republican federal judge was killed, appointed by George Bush 41.
Have you heard anybody on my side of the aisle anybody who does what I do, try to therefore claim this guy's Iclib?
Because he shot a Republican-appointed federal judge.
Not the way we think.
And we certainly don't look to these events to move our political agenda forward.
But the left is depraved, empty, and without any substance whatsoever.
And that's about all they've got is to take tragic events like this and to turn them into events of a political advantage for them.
A party which seeks to profit off of murder.
A party and movement which seeks to profit from disaster.
A party and movement who, as you shall hear in a moment, openly wishes for such disaster in order to profit from it.
By the way, speaking of Sarah Payne and George W. Bush, how is it they're still alive?
Folks, the assault, the verbal assault, and even pictorial, the visual assaults on insane Democrat websites, Democrat Underground, Daily Code, however you pronounce it, Palin and Bush, Bush equals Hitler.
How are these people still alive?
Because you had an entire television network, MSNBC, promoting such vitriol against Bush, Palin each and every night for a number of years.
Who, since Reagan, has been attacked more than Sarah Palin or Bush?
And speaking of Reagan, Reagan was shot in 1981.
Did the news media and the rest of the left demand that commentators dial back the anti-Reagan, anti-conservative victory all back then?
They didn't.
I was alive, paying attention.
I don't remember anybody suggesting that the relentless attacks on Reagan or conservatism by the then media monopoly or the rest of the left had anything to do with John Henckley's actions.
They didn't rush.
No, they waited to find out who it was.
Oh, kids disturbed.
Oh, just terribly doesn't it.
Never once did they try to say they kid had anything politically motivated.
They didn't warn, didn't warn anybody to dial back the anti-conservatism that was all through the media.
It didn't happen.
Let somebody today write a book or make a movie on the assassination of any president other than Bush and see what happens.
To the audio soundbites, November 4th, 2010, MSNBC hardball Chris Matthews, during a discussion about Obama's poll numbers, the Democrat pollster Mark Penn, who worked for Hillary, said this about what Obama needed to help turn his poll numbers around.
President Clinton reconnected through Oklahoma.
And the president ran removed.
And it wasn't until that speech that he re-clicked with the American public.
Obama needs a similar conversation.
You think it's a work?
Obama needs something similar.
Oklahoma City allowed Clinton to reconnect after the 94 Republican victory.
Obama needs something similar.
Well, what was the Oklahoma City bombing but the mass murder of Americans by a terrorist, a domestic terrorist?
We need more of that.
Is that what Mr. Penn said?
He did say it.
Was there any outrage anywhere?
Chris Matthews, fantasizing about me, October 13th, 2009, MSNBC.
You guys see Live and Let Die, the great Bond film with Yaffin Cotto as the bad guy, Mr. Big.
In the end, they jammed a big CO2 pellet in his face and he blew up.
I have to tell you, Rush Lembaugh is beginning to look more and more like Mr. Big.
And at some point, somebody's going to jam a CO2 pellet into his head.
He's going to explode like a giant blimp.
That day may come.
I think he's Mr. Big.
I think Yafid Koto.
Are you watching Rush?
Nobody back then had any expression of alarm over the potential behavior that such a comment by Mr. Matthews might inspire.
There was just laughter all around.
If you're on hold, if you got through to the program today and are on hold, please stay there.
We'll get to your calls as soon as we can in the next hour.
I want to weave your phone calls in.
Still lots of stuff here about this to say, and a plethora, if you will, of sound bites to back up things that we're saying.
About this sheriff in Pima County.
This guy admitting he's got no evidence for the allegations that he's making.
None whatsoever.
This is making people behave as the fools they are.
