Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 podcast.
I have it right here, folks, in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers, a new survey out from Clairall.
Women who dye their hair are more sexually confident.
Has this been your experience, Mr. Snerdley?
Well, then try this.
The study also found that women who dye their hair blonde were also more likely to question authority at work and overall, in general, complain more than other women.
Snerdley says, believable.
Greetings, my friends.
Welcome, Rush Limbaugh, the Excellence in Broadcasting Network.
We're here for another three solid hours of broadcast excellence.
Great to have you with us.
Telephone numbers 800-282-2882.
The email address, lrushbaugh at EIBNet.com.
Apparently, our new Operation Chaos Save Our Biden SOB is working.
They set him out in Cincinnati today for a major, big, big policy address.
And what do you think was the subject of his policy address?
It was Iraq, the far, far, the vast majority of this speech, but he's still talking.
And the vast majority of speech devoted to Iraq with things like, finally, George Bush is implementing Barack's policy.
The only guy not following Barack's policy is John McCain.
Now, what's interesting about this to me is how they want to change the subject.
Now, we've got a fraudulent ABC Washington Post poll out today that finally shows the Messiah up by nine points.
But if you dig deep, you find out it's a sample of around 800 people.
Only 28% of the sample is Republican.
38% of the sample is Democrat.
And they really, we talked about this yesterday.
They really waited, increased the number of black respondents in this poll.
This is clearly, and by the way, they claim here that the reason that they did the 38 Democrat, 28 Republican percentages is that that's just the way it's breaking down.
Now, ladies and gentlemen, what we have here is a clear, clear illustration of the drive-by media.
And by the way, George Stephanopoulos is just ecstatic with his poll reporting it today.
But it's fraudulent.
It's flawed.
And it's designed to influence public opinion, not reflect it.
You have to ignore these polls until we get very, very close.
That's when these people want to be accurate, of course, with the end result.
But I mean, it's laughable.
It is a joke.
What the drive-by media has become is shameful.
I mean, they are supporting a candidate for president.
They will not even examine.
They don't even care what this guy's life story is.
They're not interested in it.
All they care about is he's historic.
He's a liberal.
He's a socialist like they are.
And that's it.
That's all that matters.
And he's not a Republican.
But I find it fascinating that Joe goes out there, wants to change the subject.
Why would you in the midst, and the conventional wisdom is that all this economic turmoil has to benefit Obama?
And by the way, the Washington Post polls, yes, it's the economy finally taking in now the economic news finally redounding to Obama's benefit.
If that's the case, why the hell is in Biden out?
He's still talking.
Good Lord, he's still over 40 minutes here, I think.
He just finished oh, they got the hook.
At any rate, when all this conventional wisdom, the economy is giving Obama this big jump in the poll, why send Biden out to talk about Iraq?
Maybe all this economic news is not helping them that much.
Or maybe they're trying to keep Biden focused because he's supposed to be the foreign policy expert.
But how can you be an expert when you're wrong all the time?
But I mean, the whole point that he's making here is that Bush ignored Afghanistan, went into Iraq, only Obama knows what to do.
Everybody knows this is a joke.
I'll tell you what I think this is all about.
I think they're going back to Iraq in part because Biden is the so-called foreign policy expert.
But I also think they're having big trouble.
I got two more stories today in the stack about how whites are not going to vote for this guy.
And these are drive-by media stories, and they're talking about Democrats.
We had two of these stories yesterday, one AP Yahoo, the other in the Philadelphia Daily News.
Yeah, Philadelphia Daily News.
Now we've got an AP story and we've got a political story today on how this just isn't working.
White people, they're going to have to gin up the white vote.
So I think going back to Iraq is like going back to the base.
They've got the black vote wrapped up.
Let's say they got 95% of the black vote.
We know it's going to happen.
So most of the Democrat base that is not black is also virulently, lunatically, insanely anti-war, anti-military, anti-Iraq.
And I think they're going back and trying to rejuvenate their base.
Because if they're losing a third of blue-collar Democrat voters, that's the base, traditionally.
So it's interesting to watch these guys go out and do so.
Now, media in full attack mode against everybody who believes as we do.
The National Rifle Association, thank God for the National Rifle Association, the National Rifle Association.
And we had an interview coming up with Wayne Lampierre in the Limbaugh Letter.
They are showing the rest of the conservative movement how to do this.
They are showing how to defeat liberals, how to take them on on the liberal playground in the playing field and squash them.
And so the drive-bys are that the NRA is $40 million in advertising in swing states starting now.
And these ads are tough on Obama because Obama, the real Obama, believes everything he said back in that San Francisco fundraiser about the bitter clingers clinging to guns, clinging to religion, clinging to God.
He believes all that, and they're going to ram it down his throat.
The NRA and they're worried about us.
And now the CBS News has a story.
NRA begins push to tarnish Obama on guns.
The point of this is the media are actually proving now that they and Obama believe exactly what he told those billionaires in San Francisco.
We are racists.
We are gun-obsessed.
We're God-obsessed.
That's what he thinks of us.
And we are to be dismissed or manipulated.
So CBS News now starting on a story.
There'll be many more of these to trash the National Rifle Association.
The Rifle Association is simply going to tell the truth about Obama.
So it's more journalistic malpractice.
Here are the details of that poll.
780 likely voters.
Survey included additional interviews with randomly selected African Americans for a total of 163 black respondents out of 780 likely voters.
That is, I don't care how you want to weight things.
There is no way that that sample in anywhere close to proximity reflects the population group and the demographics of the voting public.
In addition, 28% of the sample is Republican.
Now, remember, we had another poll yesterday where the Washington Post put out a poll saying, remember this, even I, El Rushbo, even I, got tricked.
Headline, Obama up 10 on economy.
And you had to read all the way to the last line of the story to find out that Obama was only up three.
Now, the Rasmussen tracking poll today has Obama up two.
The Washington Post has him up nine.
This is just breathtaking to behold this.
I wanted to keep you up to speed on all of it.
By the way, in that recent AP Yahoo news poll, guess what?
They keep trickling the results out of this.
18% of likely voters are undecided.
18% undecided or willing to change their minds a little more than five weeks before the election.
This tells me again that the drive-bys have not been doing their job.
And oh, have you seen that the Democrats are going to let the offshore drilling moratorium subside?
There are two reasons for this.
Democrats have decided to allow a 25-year ban on drilling for oil off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts to expire next week, conceding defeat in a month-long battle with the White House and the Republicans, set off by $4 a gallon gasoline prices.
Two things here, folks.
Don't celebrate.
Don't be bought up.
Do you think the Democrats are doing anything for any reason other than their own self-interest?
They are being hammered with constituent email and so forth about this drilling business.
They politically have to do this.
However, what they will then do is get in league under cover of darkness with all of their left-wing fringe environmental groups, and they will mount lawsuit after lawsuit after lawsuit.
Every attempt to drill offshore is made.
And if Obama is elected, there will be a new executive order that puts the moratorium back, puts the ban back in force, back in place.
This is simply an election-year political move because they're being hammered by this.
So don't, you know, it's being portrayed as a big Republican victory here.
It is.
It is a big Republican victory in the sense that the truth of the Democrats on this, the truth of the need to drill has gotten out there.
But again, if the Democrats were being honest, they would not lift the ban.
They don't want to drill.
They don't want more supply.
They don't want any of the sort.
They're being forced here.
They're just going to use methods outside of legislation to hold up.
That's why people are trying to push this new bill in Congress.
You have to allow for lawsuits.
I mean, it's going to happen.
But the legislation could say that every group that's going to file a lawsuit has to come together in one big lawsuit, one case, and otherwise the left-wing fringe can tie up any drilling project from now till we die.
And that's the technique.
That is what is going on.
I was on Fox News yesterday afternoon, Martha McCallum's show at 5 in the afternoon, and she asked me a question, and I didn't quite hear everything she said, but the gist of the question was, how come the McCain campaign is not letting Palin interact with the media?
And it had to do with the fact she's in the United Nations and she's meeting all these world leaders and so forth.
And so today, I see the Politico has a story.
Palin press relationship gets testy.
Sarah Palin's relationship with her traveling press corps went from barely existing to downright chilly Tuesday when the two sides briefly engage in a standoff over journalists' access to Palin's photo ops on the sidelines of the UN meetings here.
Biden's not doing a whole lot of press conference.
Let me tell you what's going on here.
The first thing you have to remember is Palin's job is not to be buddies with the drive-by media.
Go back to her acceptance speech in St. Paul.
She's not here to be friends with the drive-by.
She knows they don't want to be her friend.
She's doing Katie Couric tonight.
She went out and she did, she's done some of these things.
She did Hannity and a couple of others, but she's not doing press conferences.
She's not out there trying to woo them.
When Palin shows up with McCain, they take hundreds of questions from voters at these joint town hall meetings that they're doing.
I've watched them do it.
They're very good.
And the questions that they take from the audience, these town hall things, are better questions than the drive-bys would ask.
They're very random.
The drive-bys just want to set up some gotcha moment.
That's what they want.
The bitter clingers get this too.
You and I, we bitter clingers, we get it.
The people, people out there hate the drive-by media right now.
We realize we're running against the drive-bys.
We're running against the Democrats.
We're running against Ahmedinezad.
Cookie Went did a great thing here.
We've got Ahmedinezad from his speech yesterday at the UN and gone back and found Obama saying much the same thing at various spots along the campaign trail.
I do wish, however, and this is what I told Martha McCallum on the Fox News channel, I wish they'd let Palin go.
Not press conference, not that let her go out and do these rallies.
Get her out there.
She's the one that's electrified the whole base.
She's the one that's electrified the election.
She's the one that's electrified turn this thing around.
Get her out there.
And I'm not talking about press conferences and little chats sitting around with the drive-bys.
What my fear is that every time I've heard her speak now in the last couple of times, she has been mirroring McCain's message of reform, that Obama's never worked with Republicans, but that McCain has worked with Democrats.
That's not how to use her.
McCain can handle being McCain.
They need to send her out there and let her be who she is as she was introduced.
I wish they'd do that.
Now, it could be they're saving her.
They don't want to overexpose her and just save up here for the last two or three week crunch.
Anyway, a lot to do here today, folks.
I have barely begun to set the table.
Quick timeout.
We'll be right back.
New York Times said, I want to get this done and over with.
I've got a lot of other things I want to get here to today, but since we've started out in the media and they're in the tank for Obama and so forth with polls and everything, the New York Times today is just, I really don't know how to describe this.
This is a paid campaign ad on the front page.
This is, though, Obama wrote the script for the New York Times.
They put it under the name of Jackie Combs and David Kirkpatrick.
Headline, now, let me set this up.
Everybody knows now that's paying attention that this Freddie Mae, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae thing is traceable straight back to the Democrats, straight back to Barney Franks, straight back to Bill Clinton, straight back to Jimmy Carter, straight back to Chris Dodd, and right behind Dodd is Barack Obama.
Everybody paying attention knows this.
We also know that the Democrats are desperately looking for a Republican to dump on here because they can't find one.
There isn't one.
This is a Democrat-made mess.
They try to dump on Phil Graham and his 1999 bank deregulation legislation, but that isn't flying.
If there were a Republican anywhere that they could pin this on, they would have started congressional hearings weeks ago.
So with that as the setup, the headline in the New York Times today, McCain's AIDS firm was paid by Freddie Mac.
One of the giant mortgage companies at the heart of the credit crisis, paid $15,000 a month from the end of 05 through last month to a firm owned by McCain's campaign manager, Rick Davis.
The McCain people are livid.
They have put out a response on their website that refutes all of this.
This is not even biased.
This is propaganda.
It is false.
It is provably false.
And what it ignores is that Obama, and they don't even mention this, Obama received $109,000 from Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae, one of the two.
In just two and a half years in the Senate, it took Chris Dodd about nine years to accrue $120,000 from Fannie Mae.
Obama did it in less than two years.
How the hell does that happen?
What this story also does not mention, ladies and gentlemen, is that it was John McCain who authored and co-sponsored legislation to make stricter regulation oversight of both of these things, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, going back to 05 and to 06.
McCain is the one guy, well, a lot of Republicans, the president, a lot of Republicans came in and said, you guys are out of control in there, and this is going to lead to a major problem.
Tried to set up new regulations.
The Democrats blocked it at every turn.
I'm at a loss to explain this, other than to describe it as simply, the New York Times has willingly, openly, and in front of the world decided to become an official.
This is an unpaid ad, is what this is.
This is an unpaid campaign ad filled with propaganda that is designed to destroy McCain.
Rick Davis?
Guess what, folks?
Paul Bogala was also a consultant here.
He's not a lobbyist.
He was a consultant here, paid consultant to Freddie Mac until this month.
Now, who is Bagala for in this whole race?
Look at the bottom line of this damn thing is this, and I'm going to get into this in great detail when a little bit more time this afternoon.
This is a sewer.
This Fannie Mae Freddie Mac thing is a sewer.
It was constructed and run by Democrats.
It is filthy.
It is raw sewage circling around in there, and it's of their making.
And it has presented a crisis to the U.S. economy.
And it was all based on liberalism, liberal socialist ideas created Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and then raped them and distorted their original purpose when the Democrats turned this thing into nothing more than a personal piggy bank for each other and their party.
I've got a brief time out.
We'll come back and rev right on right after this.
Let me grab a quick phone call here, Rush Limbaugh, the hind a golden EIB microphone at the prestigious and distinguished Limbaugh Institute at Joe in Sioux City, Iowa.
Nice to have you, sir.
Hello.
Howdy.
Hey, first, I want to make some of your listeners mad real quick and say that it took me less than a minute to get on.
I've been trying for a long time, and it took me less than a minute.
We have a special line dedicated here to those on the Obama payroll.
Oh, I'm not.
No, I just read a story the other day because I've been listening to the different shows saying that Obama got all this money from Freddie Mae or Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.
Yeah.
He did.
And those were campaign contributions from individual employees, not necessarily from the company itself.
And the difference between that and Rick Davis is Rick Davis was paid directly from those companies to lobby for them.
And I think that should be a difference that's put out there.
Except for one thing.
What you said isn't true about Rick Davis.
Okay.
It's his firm, though, right?
He hasn't been with the firm since 2006.
But he owns it.
It's his firm.
He's had no income from it.
Okay, but he will.
I mean, it's his firm.
Doesn't matter.
He's not there.
He hasn't gotten any income.
He separated from his firm in 2006.
He has seen no income from his firm since 2006.
Zip Zero Nada.
He has received no salary or compensation since 2006.
He has received no profit or partner distributions from that firm on any basis, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, whatever, since 2006, zero.
Neither has Mr. Davis received any equity in the firm based on profits.
Also missing from the Times story is that Rick Davis never, has never lobbied for either Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac.
He has not served as a registered lobbyist since 2005.
The New York Times left all of that out.
But he did serve with the PAC that Freddie and Fannie Davis.
Look at, you are fighting an uphill battle here.
You are illustrating the hopelessness of the Obama campaign.
I hit you with facts.
I hit you with truth that destroys your premise, and you still want to try to use this program to present a false illusion.
You really take the cake, you and your gang, because this scandal, this corruption, you own it.
This is pure, 100% undiluted Democrat sewage corruption scandal.
It's all yours.
And you are not going to use this program to try to create a false, propaganda-laced illusion that somehow a guy who was paid 15, his firm was paid $15,000 over two years ago is somehow at fault here.
You can give it your best shot.
You might find some hosts who will be bamboozled by this, but you can't trick me.
I am not going to sit here and put up with this while the Democrats and the Obamaites try to turn this thing into a Republican scandal with the aid of the New York Times and the drive-by media.
I mentioned this.
I knew we got that call, that brilliant call, who said, where are the investigations of Republicans?
You know that if Henry Waxman and Dodd and Barney Frank and all these other guys, John Conyers, could put a Republican in the who's gown, they'd be doing it.
There isn't one.
As to Barack and his contributions from employees, let's also not forget, Joe, that it was the employees of Fannie Mae who forged documents and letters allowing Fannie Mae to present an asset base that didn't exist so that Franklin Raines,
friend of Obama, Jim Johnson, friend of Obama, could rape Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for hundreds of millions of dollars.
And I left out the name Jamie Gorellik, by the way, who also got her hand in this sewer and led to its corruption.
Don't talk to me about the.
Of course, the employees are going to donate to Obama.
That's what's wrong here.
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are simply branch offices of the Democrat Party.
And you can see what happens when the Democrats get their hands on something.
They destroy it like they destroyed the war on poverty, like they destroyed the black family, like they tried to destroy religion.
They're trying to destroy automobiles.
They're trying to destroy everything that they regulate and touch.
And you call here and you want to tell me it's Rick Davis' fault?
You, sir, are just a fool.
And you did a great job of representing exactly how intellectually empty and vapid the whole Obama campaign is, the whole drive-by media.
Thank you, sir.
Who's next?
Marlene in Bel Air, Michigan.
Marlene, welcome to the EIB Network.
Hello.
Hi, Rush.
How are you?
I'm going to try to calm you down a little bit after that guy.
Well, you know, these guys, this stuff just, it just angers me, and it really does.
And to try to use this program, they're not going to get away with that.
As it does me.
It angers me just as much.
Listen, as much as Biden is out there today speaking about Iraq and trying his best to look presidential, I think it's all a ploy because that's what the debate Friday is going to be about.
They're getting everybody ready for foreign policy in the debate Friday.
You talk about the presidential debate?
Yeah.
Yeah, the presidential debate.
That's what Friday night, right?
It's in Mississippi someplace.
Mississippi.
I'm surprised Obama would dare go there.
You know, the bitter clingers down there and the people clinging to guns and religion and so forth.
And, you know, all those white racists down there aren't going to vote for him.
I'm stunned that he would even dare fly over the state, much less get off the airplane there.
Well, maybe that's what he's got Biden out there trying to run cover for him.
I don't know.
But that's why I think he's out there trying to get everybody prepped up for Friday because they want everybody to believe what Obama's going to say about it.
I can't wait for Obama, if he actually tries this.
I can't wait for Obama to go out there and claim that Bush is finally listening and following his plan, that Sarah Palin agrees with the Obama plan, and the only guy that doesn't agree with the Obama plan is McCain.
I hope he tries it.
I do too.
I do too.
Well, actually, you probably got a good point there.
It is the foreign policy debate coming up.
And Obama, I don't have any experience in it.
Joe Biden.
Franklin Roosevelt went on TV in 1929.
Talked people through the Depression.
Hey, Chuck, stand up out there.
Joe, let him say, oh, my God.
God love you.
Oh, gee, Chuck, this is so stand up for Chuck.
This is just too much.
It's too good.
Speaking of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, you know what really is at the root of this?
High-risk loans.
High-risk loans that people had no way of paying them back.
They weren't even asked about their ability in many cases.
They weren't asked to fill out the income or anything like that.
High-risk loans were made on not much more than hope that they would be paid back.
And each of these dead-in mortgages were pooled and packaged and sold and resold and resold on the hope that they would be paid back.
The loans were pushed by Democrats who actually were acquiring wealth and power for themselves while telling America these risky loans were going to be good for everybody.
There was no history of untold numbers of unproven borrowers being capable of paying back loans of this size, but people just felt good about giving people that they knew nothing about the chance to live in a house that they had not earned.
It was so typically socialist Democrat.
Oh, this is how we feel good.
We're going to let people live in houses that they can't pay back.
By the way, remember this, and this is still true.
Do you realize that 95, 96% of Americans who have a mortgage are still paying them?
We're talking here, 4 or 5%.
How could 4% or 5% of these mortgages failing cause all this?
Well, like Chuck Schumer said yesterday, well, the lowly mortgages brought economy to its knees.
No, what happened is what was done with these mortgages.
They were sold.
They were resold.
They were packaged.
They were borrowed against.
They were used as collateral for securities purchases.
They were worthless from the get-go.
It's not so much that it's just 4 or 5% of people in foreclosure.
It's the multiple of people who got rich trading, selling, packaging, borrowing on all this worthless paper.
And that's why it's deep.
People just felt good about giving people they knew nothing about a chance to live in a house that they had not earned.
And when I thought of it that way, when I thought of it, when I thought of it, how good people felt about giving people they know nothing about the chance to live in a house they'd not earned, I thought of Barack Obama and the White House.
Barack Obama is nothing different than a high-risk loan.
He has no history of accomplishment.
He has nothing besides a nice smile and a firm handshake as evidence he can deliver on what he promises.
The White House should not be available to high-risk people, such as a 144-day junior senator who has a myriad of highly questionable high-risk associates.
And when he fails, we will be asked to bail out the United States for the damage that he caused.
I'd like a little more collateral on a presidential candidate than just having Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright and Tony Rezco as co-signers on his application.
We know he's the most liberal senator in America, and our country desperately needs to rein in spending and stimulate the economy.
Two things that liberals are totally unsuited for, especially a man who has surrounded himself with communists, Marxists, domestic terrorists, and anti-American bigots.
Those are his co-signers.
As he seeks a loan to be in the White House for a period of time, it might not be the time in our country's history to take such a massive risk.
We can all see how these massive risks can turn out.
Back in just a second.
I ought to continue on with this theme here of the empty suit that is Barack Obama and the media corruption that is in play here.
Tony Blankly, a great piece today at Creators Syndicate, the man who never was.
The drive-by, well, he says mainstream media have gone over the line and are now straight out propagandists for the Obama campaign is no longer journalism.
It's simply propaganda.
And as a result, we are less than seven weeks away from possibly electing a president who has not been thoroughly or even halfway honestly presented to the country by our watchdogs, the press.
The image of Obama that the press has presented to the public is not a fair approximation of the real man.
They consciously have ignored whole years of his life and have shown a lack of curiosity about such gaps, which bespeaks a lack of journalistic instinct.
Thus, the public image of Obama is of a man who never was.
The mainstream media ruthlessly, endlessly repeat any McCain gaffes while ignoring Obama gaffes.
You have to go to Rush Limbaugh's website to see all the stammering and stuttering that Obama needs before getting out a sentence fragment or two.
But all you see on the networks is an eventually clear sentence from Obama.
But worse than all the unfair and distorted reporting and image projecting are the shocking gaps in Obama's life that are not reported at all.
A major media simply have not reported on Obama's two years at New York's Columbia University, where among other things, he lived a mere quarter mile from the former unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers.
Nor have the media paid any serious attention to Obama's rise in Chicago politics.
The public image of Obama as an idealistic, post-race, post-partisan, well-spoken, honest young man with the wisdom and courage befitting a great national leader is confection spun by a willing conspiracy of Obama, his publicist Axelrod, and most of the senior editors, producers, and reporters of the national media.
Perhaps that's why the National Journal's respected correspondent Stuart Taylor said that the media can no longer be trusted to provide accurate and fair campaign reporting and analysis.
The public will be voting based on the idealized image of a man who never was.
If he wins, he'll be governed by the sunken, cynical man Obama really is.
One can only hope that the senior journalists will be judged as harshly for their professional misconduct as Wall Street's leaders currently are for their failings.
That is an excellent point.
Because there is as much corruption going on in the drive-by media as there is wherever it's happening.
Wall Street.
This is a Democrat Party mess, though, folks.
And all these people at Wall Street, for the most part, are Democrats, too.
This dirty little secret.
Everybody thinks Wall Street's a citadel of Republican free market capitalism.
Think again.
Everybody that's ever run Goldman Sachs, dead in the water liberal.
Lehman Brothers, dead in the water liberal.
Sitting back, dead in the water liberal.
AIG.
Well, it used to be headed by a conservative.
Got him out of there.
Elliot Spitzer did that.
And looky here.
The FBI, under pressure to look at possible criminal activity in the financial markets, is expanding its corporate fraud inquiries.
In the wake of the tumult in the last 10 days, they've now opened preliminary investigations into possible fraud involving Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Lehman Brothers, and AIG.
A government official speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the issue publicly, but said, I'll do it anyway if you don't tell whom I am.
said it was logical to assume that those four companies would come under investigation because of the many questions surrounding the recent collapse.
Now, if this actually happens, folks, I hate to tell you, but they're going to be investigating Democrats.
And now, you might be saying, well, how come they're not going to investigate Congress?
Separation of powers.
The feds can't.
You remember what happened when the Justice Department, the FBI, wanted to get access to the office of Congressman William Jefferson, Democrat Louisiana, none other than the Republican Speaker of the House said, the FBI, get out of here.
Your executive branch, you can't come in here, rifle through our offices.
But if you're going to look at these groups, I mean, these are Democrat Party piggybanks.
Lehman Brothers, you realize Al Gore's carbon industry went south when they went south?
Do you also realize that there was no reason for them to go south?
I mean, no reason for these companies.
This is all due to Sarbanes-Oxley.
This is all an overreaction to Enron.
New accounting rules.
Under the old accounting rules that existed before Enron, these people would not be out of business.
But it's called mark to market.
And it's not all that complicated, but I've only got 30 seconds here to try to explain this.
Basically, companies have to peg the value of their assets to what they could be sold for today.
Well, guess what they had as their assets, all these worthless subprime mortgages.
In the old days, you could do your accounting based on what you could get for these assets when you sold them down the road when the market recovered.
