Riding on the Edge

|
|
| Brian in Los Angeles. | |
| Hi. | |
| Dennis, this is Brian. | |
| We met a few weeks ago. | |
| You had lunch at my in-laws house. | |
| Hi again. | |
| Oh, yes, I remember. | |
| Yeah, of course. | |
| Good to hear from you. | |
| How are you? | |
| Well, I don't have the coronavirus. | |
| Oh, good. | |
| Neither do I. Well, quick question for you. | |
| We have a trip planned to Mexico leaving Friday. | |
| And my wife is worried about the coronavirus. | |
| What's your take on leaving the country, and I guess more important than going through the international terminal at LAX? I have a speech in Budapest in a few weeks, and I intend to go. | |
| It never occurs. | |
| It doesn't even occur to me not to go. | |
| It's the numbers are so small. | |
| It's not and it's not like you, you know, you get it and you're dead. | |
| You get it, you may not know it. | |
| You get it, you may have flu symptoms. | |
| You get it, you may be treated. | |
| But the overwhelming odds are even if you get it, and the odds are you won't get it, that you will be okay. | |
| And see, what I'm already seeing is the cure is worse than the disease at this point. | |
| The closing down of the economies of countries at this time will hurt so many more people than the disease, as it appears now. | |
| I mean, obviously, I would go on the trip, for whatever it's worth. | |
| But this is my attitude in life. | |
| I don't motorcycle over the Grand Canyon. | |
| But I do believe that you live life fully. | |
| It's like, I'll give you a good example you should give to your wife. | |
| And I respect her worry. | |
| And that is this. | |
| For all of my broadcast career, people have called me and told me the following. | |
| Dennis, I would so love to visit Israel, but I want to go when it's safe. | |
| So I've been broadcasting 35 years. | |
| These people who feel that way have never gone. | |
| In the meantime, I take 600 people every other year. | |
| And I have gone about 25 times and have had the most wonderful experience as a result. | |
| It's an attitude in life. | |
| There are minimal risks that are just worth taking. | |
| That's how I look at life. | |
| This is a great learning lesson for all people. | |
| Will you look at life and be scared or will you look at life and embrace it? | |
| That's it. | |
| I wear seatbelts. | |
| I do not ride a motorcycle on highways. | |
| To be honest, I don't ride a motorcycle anywhere. | |
| But I'm not against it. | |
| But I think that riding a motorcycle on highways is risky. | |
