DAILY TRUTH - The Need For A Disciplined Lifestyle

Daily Truth host emphasizes perpetual spiritual discipline based on 1 Timothy 6:7, comparing godliness to physical fitness that requires constant effort to avoid decline. He promotes Pastor Joel's free book "Am I Truly Saved?" for doubters and announces three major 2023 initiatives: a selling-out Theonomy and Postmillennialism Conference, Nathan Anderson's documentary on the movement's biblical validity releasing May or June, and a new studio construction targeting January completion. Ultimately, the episode calls for listener prayers, financial support, and reviews to sustain these endeavors aimed at strengthening faith through rigorous training. Train Yourself For Godliness 00:03:50
Hey guys, real quick before we get started, I have a small request.
If you've been blessed by our content and you like this show, would you take just a brief moment and leave us a five star review?
This is quite possibly the most effective thing that you can do to ensure that this content gets out to as many people as possible.
Thanks.
Jesus said, Man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
You're listening to Daily Truth.
Now notice the second half of verse 6.
See, if you put these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of a good doctrine that you have followed.
There's a sense in which Timothy, being trained, what Paul is saying is that Timothy has already been trained.
There's a past tense that Timothy has been trained in these things, and being trained, there's a present tense in which Timothy has been trained in these things, and he is presently being trained in these things.
But as we see, the primary Command in our text today, second half of verse 7, the command of the apostle to Timothy and to all of us is that we, in a future sense, go on training.
Look at the second half of verse 7.
Train yourself for godliness.
Now remember, all scripture is for us, not all scripture is to us.
So the particular audience that Paul has in mind is Timothy.
So Paul is telling Timothy, train yourself for godliness.
But when we compare, The end of verse 7 train yourself for godliness as a command given to Timothy, but for all of us.
When we compare that with what we've already seen in the second half of verse 6 of our text, well, Timothy's already been trained, right?
He's being trained.
We see Paul addressing him elsewhere, speaking of his grandmother and mother, and how even in his childhood, he had already been trained.
So Timothy has been trained in the past, he's being trained in the present.
So, why is it so imperative?
Why is it so significant?
The apostle.
Commands him to go on training because the Christian life is a life of perpetual and continual training for godliness.
You never stop, just like physically.
And we see him use this as an illustration in the text in verse 8: physical training, bodily training, it's of some value.
But spiritual training, training for godliness, is of infinitely more value because it holds promise not only for this life but for the next.
And just like physical training, I don't think it's a coincidence that the apostle uses this as a comparison, as an illustration.
Physical training, you can be in the best shape of your life and train for 20 years, but the moment you stop, all of a sudden you begin to slide downhill.
It's not as though in physical training you can reach a certain point, and then if you don't train anymore, you just stay there.
No, you're paddling upstream.
So the moment that you stop, you don't just maintain.
You lose the ground that you previously covered.
So it is with training for godliness.
So it is with spiritual training.
So it is with Christian discipline.
We must have been trained.
We need to be trained in the present, but we must go on training in the future.
For the moment we stop, we decline.
And so this is the command to Timothy, but for all of us.
It is a continual command.

All right, all right, all right.
Stop twisting my arm.
I know you want to hear the inside scoop.
Here it is.
The glorious vision of Right Response Ministries for the first half of next year, 2023.
We have not one, not two, but three massive endeavors that we will accomplish by the grace of God.
The first you already know about it's our Theonomy and Postmillennialism Conference.
This is selling out incredibly fast.
By the time this commercial airs, you may not even be able to get a ticket.
I really don't know.
So don't waste another moment.
Go to rightresponseconference.com, rightresponseconference.com to join us for the Theonomy and Post Millennialism Conference next year.
Now, this is where you come in.
We need your help.
Our next two endeavors are number one, a documentary style film, and number two, a brand new studio.
Both of these things are seeking to accomplish one primary goal, which is excellent, high quality, glorious Christian media.
We are tired of, as Christians, doing things poorly.
We've done our best with what we have, but by God's grace, we want to do even better.
This is not going to be just another video.
This is not going to be a sermon or an interview or a podcast, but we're going to make a documentary style film.
And we're going to be hiring Nathan Anderson, the director of On Earth as It Is in Heaven, a very, very successful post millennialism documentary that's on Amazon and YouTube, came out a couple years ago.
He's going to be flying in from Chile.
To help us direct this film.
And our documentary is going to be on postmillennialism and theonomy why it's biblically valid, why it's absolutely necessary, and why, by the grace of God, theonomy and postmillennialism are currently on the rise.
So we're going to make this film and we need your support.
And not just this film, but we're going to make all of our videos and podcasting and everything we do here at Right Response Ministries better.
We want to achieve the highest level of quality.
And Christian excellence that we possibly can.
That's where the new studio comes in.
This new film, our date that we're shooting for is that it would be complete and publicly available in May or June of 2023, next year.
The studio, our goal is that it would be completely done in its construction and the equipment and the setup and the stage and everything by January, February of 2023, next year.
We need your prayers, we need your encouragement.
And for those of you who are willing to do so, we need your generous support.
You can give towards these endeavors by going to rightresponseministries.com forward slash donate.
Again, that's rightresponseministries.com forward slash donate.
