Host of DAILY TRUTH - The Fear of Man argues that deceit often involves omitting facts to gain approval, harming listeners through self-love rather than genuine care. Citing J.I. Packer, he asserts a half-truth masquerading as whole truth is a whole lie, speculating Jesus would condemn over half of American evangelical pastors for prioritizing human glory like the Pharisees. Admitting his own past foolishness in seeking approval while preaching faithfully, he concludes that prioritizing God's judgment over people's opinions ironically results in greater love and blessing for listeners, urging five-star reviews to ensure biblically faithful content reaches a wider audience. Chasing Man's Glory Over God00:03:27
Hey guys, real quick before we get started, I have a small request.
If you've been blessed by our content and you like this show, would you take just a brief moment and leave us a five star review?
This is quite possibly the most effective thing that you can do to ensure that this content gets out to as many people as possible.
Thanks.
Jesus said, Man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
You're listening to Daily Truth.
You guys have heard me quote this a million times.
I'm going to quote it again.
J.I. Packer, he says, A half truth that masquerades itself as a whole truth is a whole lie.
There's more than one way to be deceitful.
The only way to be deceitful is not just to say something, not just to make a false statement, but to make a true statement in such a way that leaves out other pertinent and relevant true information in such a way that it would cause people to like you, but they ultimately would be harmed because of it.
They would be deceived.
There's a whole other sector of the truth that you are leaving out solely because you love yourself.
I truly believe that if Jesus was incarnate on earth today, he would point the finger, I believe, at over half of American evangelical pastors and he'd speak to them the very same way he spoke to the Pharisees.
You love the glory that comes from men more than the glory that comes from God.
You do this in the name of loving people, wanting to be kind to people, wanting to be.
Sweet and nice to people.
It is not love for others.
It is love for yourself.
You would rather be liked by others than actually help save others.
You brood of vipers.
Stop being presumptuous.
Stop loving yourself at the cost of souls.
How dare you repent of your slavery under the fear of man if there is any sin that is running rampant among leaders in the church today.
It is the fear of man, and I have lived underneath it for so long.
And I've been so foolish.
I've thought that I could preach God's word faithfully and be liked by you guys.
I thought that I could do both.
What a fool I was.
That's not a reality.
It's not.
I must love the glory that comes from God.
Rather than the glory that comes from man, and not just unregenerate, unbelieving man, but even the men and women sitting in my church.
I have to care more about what God says of me in His Word than what you say of me.
And ironically, by caring more about what God says of me and caring less about what you say of me, I will be more loving toward you.
I will do you far more good.
You will be far more blessed.
Thanks so much for listening.
But, real quick, before you go, do us a small favor take a moment and leave us a five star review if you enjoyed the show.
This is undoubtedly the best way that you can help us get this biblically faithful content to as many people as possible.
