So golf fans sound off after amateur golfer from ASU, of course, wears upside-down text hat.
That's so upside-down text hat in capital letters.
Upside-down text hat at the Masters, quote, should be banned from Augusta.
And this is by Quinn Eaton, April 10th, 2025.
I trust like you, listener.
All right, just trust like me, listener, you are slightly confused as to what's happening.
Let me just read a little bit of this article.
Golf fans are not down with the upside-down trend, so the hat is bad.
I'm sure you've seen the new style of hat at some point.
It's hard to pinpoint.
Where or when the trend started, parentheses.
Some blame Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
But somewhere along the way, someone asked this question when designing the front of a hat.
Quote, What if we took whatever font and text that was going to be used and turned it upside down?
Is that how they came up with it, Tony, do you think?
I think so.
I think that's exactly what it was.
I think it was in a meeting, too.
I think it was like a pitch meeting.
Listen, what if we do the text upside down?
But is it going to be the text that we would have used regular way?
Oh, it's the same text.
Whoa.
It's just upside down.
I got this really cool feature on my editing software.
Check this out.
I'm going to click this.
Boom.
I flipped it.
See what I did there?
Wow.
See how it's upside down now?
And so that was 180 degrees?
Interesting.
Yeah.
Yeah, I thought it would be like, oh, you bumped your head and you fell to the floor on your back and you looked up and you saw the logo upside down.
And you were like, whoa.
Wow.
What if I was standing right up and still seeing what I'm seeing now?
Though it might not seem like that big of a deal.
The decision to just start flipping things upside down and slapping them on the front of hats has been quite divisive.
Some people, primarily the younger generation, love it.
Of course they do, Tony.
Is there any stupid thing this new generation won't just automatically love because TikTok told them to?
It's sad because you're exposing your undeveloped frontal lobe to that upside down logo.
You're going to give yourself dyslexia.
It's going to get burned into your forehead like the Fox News bug on your grandparents' television screen.
Others, mostly older people with more traditional views, despise the hats.
Oh yeah?
Did you know Paul was crucified on an upside down LA logo?
Did you know that?
Is that why you think it's cool?
It's actually the most humble way to wear the hat.
I know I'm not Dodgers Jesus, okay?
I don't want to be Dodgers Jesus.
That's why I wear it upside down.
I'm actually saying no earthly baseball team can match the importance of the one true God.
It's like when I have the lowercase i is less than he and he's capitalized.
That's kind of what I'm doing here.
This is how the baseball...
This is how the baseball team looks from God's point of view.
I'm putting it right.
This is how I'm doing him a favor.
Yeah, it's so funny because golf is already stuffy, right?
And then the PGA, the pros, is stuffy also.
I thought Caddyshack solved this problem.
It did.
It did.
And honestly, Augusta and the Masters is a pushback to Caddyshack.
Because they saw Caddyshack and said, we can't let this happen.
People are going to be letting Bruce off in the pool.
And Augusta does have the most rules.
It is the place with the most stuff.
And some of it's kind of interesting or whatever.
But you can't bring a cell phone in.
You are required to wear a collar if you're going to be on the course at all.
Crazy.
We need a Glenn Powell tin cup, too.
Oh, fuck yeah.
To take some starch out of these guys' pants.
Yeah, I mean, that would be sick.
But then they also have, like, their concessions are cheap.
So they have, like, a $5 pimento cheese sandwich.
I love the idea.
I have more traditional views.
I think a logo should only be right side up.
It's so funny that they, like...
They're getting mad at this kid for this.
He goes to ASU.
He plays for the ASU golf team.
He's playing in the biggest tournament of his life and he's still repping his team.
He fucked it up because of his ego.
It's his ego, Tony.
They gave him a chance and he spit on them.
Okay, which brings us to reigning U.S. amateur champion Jose Luis Ballester, who is a Spanish golfer who is currently making his Masters debut.
Ballester is currently in the midst of his senior year at ASU, and because he has won the USAM last summer, he earned an invitation to play at the prestigious Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club.
The beloved major tournament has a rich history of amateur participation.
And Ballister is one of five amateurs in the field this year, and he's already making headlines during the first round, and you probably assume that's a good thing, right?
Well, dot, dot, dot, not exactly.
This is such good writing.
The 21-year-old decided to wear an upside-down, quote, Sun Devil's hat during the opening round, and though there's nothing wrong with representing his university, people hated the fashion choice.
So now we're embedding tweets in here.
And we have a tweet from Jesse JJ Jedediah, whose ad is JJ underscore noseball.
Posts a photo of this upside-down hat on this guy.
It says, upside-down hat at Masters?
Hashtag shrink.
Yeah.
Shrink means his dick got smaller when he saw the upside-down logo.
No, shrink is people hate that...
They're, quote, growing the game.
Shrink the game.
These guys that I golf, they hate it so much.
That's kind of another reason why I love it is because I know that I make JJ furious.
You're doing it out of spite.
Every low score I get where I'm really kicking ass, I love playing with guys I don't know who initially just don't like me because maybe my nails are painted or whatever.
And then I just kind of kick their ass.
And at the end, they respect it.
They're like, I don't like how baggy your shirt is, but I like the cut of your jib.
But yeah, they see stuff like this.
And it's funny because the hat, to me, this is the most basic guy hat ever.
This is not like a fashion statement.
This is a boring varsity letter in an arch on a baseball cap.
The most common hat in golf right now is this.
So fucking crazy.
It's just that they're upside down, so it's a little bit stylized.
