Time Text
Thank you.
Thank you.
Good evening and welcome to I'm your host, Laura Loomer.
Welcome to debate night as well.
Very exciting night tonight.
As many of you know, tonight marks the first presidential debate of the 2024 general election cycle.
The political world and the voting public will be closely watching tonight as Donald Trump faces off against Joe Biden.
This debate signifies an important milestone as the election transitions from the primary season to the more focused and intense final competition leading up to November.
This year is flying by, as we are already just four and a half months out from election day.
So what can we expect to see tonight?
First, let's discuss the failing Joe Biden.
Just like our country is in decline, well, Joe Biden himself is very much in decline.
In many ways, it is hard to believe that we have suffered through nearly four years of this walking disaster of a man already.
Time certainly flies by when everything is in decline, I guess.
And as we all know, Joe Biden has not been running the government for the majority of his time in office.
Instead, that responsibility has fallen to Kamala Harris, Barack Obama, and countless other unelected bureaucrats throughout the executive branch, like Biden advisers Bob Bauer and his wife, Anita Dunn.
Joe Biden functions as a figurehead, a ceremonial president who is simply there to smile, check boxes, and garner votes.
The Biden administration has been defined by decline and inaction.
Under their watch, much of the progress Donald Trump made during his time in office has been erased, sadly.
Many of Trump's policies were immediately rolled back once Joe Biden entered the Oval Office, after the stolen election.
The economy has been allowed to unravel at the seams.
Inflation, sparked by COVID, has never been dealt with.
The wealth gap in this nation has been allowed to widen, contradicting the left's claims of opposing such inequality.
In fact, the distance between this nation's richest and poorest citizens has never been greater.
The middle class has been further pushed out of existence.
Around the world, America's position in power has declined rapidly.
Under President Trump, we were a respected nation once again, even feared in some cases.
Now, however, we are the laughingstock of the world.
Everyone can see our listless, feckless leader for what he is.
Everyone knows that this nation is barely holding itself together, let alone holding the world together.
So under Joe Biden, countless flashpoints around the globe have been allowed to flare up.
Ukraine, Gaza, Taiwan, North Korea, The list goes on and on.
The past few years have been nothing but a downhill slide for this nation.
Similarly, Biden's mental functions have been sliding downhill as well.
Back in 2020, it was already apparent that he wasn't fully there.
His mental faculties were clearly not what they once were back when he was Vice President.
As his time in office has gone on, his condition has steadily worsened.
However, just in the past few months, his decline has rapidly accelerated.
It is to the point now that the White House insiders are sounding the alarm bells to the DNC and members of the mainstream media.
They are quietly hinting that Biden will essentially be incapacitated soon into a second term if he manages to secure it.
This decline is clearly observable in many of the recent press conferences and public appearances Biden has done.
He looks totally lost.
It's obvious that he has dementia.
Or some other debilitating disease.
The man belongs in the bingo hall of a nursing home, not in the Oval Office of the White House.
In contrast, Donald Trump, despite his age, remains energetic and determined.
In fact, few young men can hold a candle to the persistent energy that Trump displays.
And honestly, I personally feel like President Trump has even more energy than I have at 31 years old.
On some days.
Despite being dragged through countless court hearings over the past year, he has persevered All while still campaigning multiple days a week all around the nation.
Moreover, President Trump's base has been re-energized by the blatant campaign of corrupt lawfare directed at the 45th president.
This has served only to highlight the corruption in the government and how the system protects itself from outsiders.
President Trump also has the privilege of running on a successful first term in office, unlike Joe Biden.
Despite issues with bad personnel, obstruction, and the unfortunate COVID pandemic, President Trump was able to achieve a great deal.
Additionally, many Americans saw the Trump years as a time of prosperity and optimism, and I personally think that he's the best president of my lifetime, at least, if not in the history of our entire nation.
Gas prices were low.
Inflation was under control.
America felt respected abroad.
We actually had a competent, charismatic leader in office.
And most importantly, many Americans felt that their voices were being heard and represented in D.C.
for the first time in decades.
And despite a global COVID lockdown, which many believe was a bioweapon used to interfere in President Trump's With all of this in mind, tonight's debate should be an easy win for President Trump.
Trump never mandated vaccines or mask mandates, and he worked as hard as he could to get the country open again, despite people like Dr. Fauci working to subvert his administration and work against him with false and fake science.
With all of this in mind, tonight's debate should be an easy win for President Trump.
However, expectations are so abysmally low for Joe Biden that even a terrible performance by Donald Trump is still far above what most people expect to see from Joe Biden tonight.
But we know that there's no such thing as a terrible performance from Donald Trump because every single time he's at a debate, especially in positions where he's under pressure, like he will be tonight, three against one, I think that President Trump always shines the brightest when he is facing adversity and opposition.
So whatever cocktail of stimulants they pump into Biden before the debate tonight, it always seems to be just enough for him to get by.
With only a handful of gaffes and meltdowns.
Moreover, Joe Biden is in friendly territory with CNN, moderating the debate.
And as we have seen, CNN has already revealed that they will be muting the candidates when they begin to speak over each other.
They don't allow for any audience to take place or be present tonight at the debate.
And this is really, at the end of the day, just code for having an excuse to silence and censor Donald Trump when he tries to refute Biden's many lies.
All of this adds up to a debate that should be an easy Trump victory.
But ultimately, I'm sure that it will be rigged, and it's already being rigged just by the terms of the debate that have been laid out by CNN and Joe Biden's campaign.
And I'm sure tonight that we'll see that all of this will come together to be done to minimize any such win for President Trump in the eyes of the mainstream media.
So as we watch tonight, make note of how many times the moderators interrupt Trump versus Biden.
Take note of how many times the moderators cleverly redirect the conversation or needlessly correct or fact-check Donald Trump.
And also, be wary and count how many times they mute Trump compared to Joe Biden.
I think it will be pretty clear that this is not exactly a level playing field.
But then again, when has President Trump ever been given a fair shake?
Even way back during the 2016 primary debates, the room was packed to the brim with donors and neocons who would clap like seals, you know, please clap, for imbeciles like Jeb Bush, and they would also boo whenever Trump so much as opened his mouth.
But despite the rigging, Donald Trump was able to overcome all of that by being sharp, incisive, and aggressive.
All the reasons why we love him.
So let's hope that that same 2016 Donald Trump steps out onto the debate stage tonight.
There is a young female journalist, conservative journalist, by the name of Laura Loomer.
If America's men acted like Laura Loomer, our problems would be fixed in about five minutes.
Chained herself to square.
Chandler's.
We'll be right back.
We'll be right back.
I'm your host, Laura Lumer.
Tonight is going to be a very fun night.
It's the first presidential debate of the 2024 general election season.
And I know that, I don't know about you, but I just, I just feel so excited.
I don't know.
I feel like I'm a teenager getting ready to go to my first concert or, you know, getting ready to go out for a fun night.
Because let's be honest, If there's anything that's more fun than going to a Trump rally, it's watching President Trump debate his opposition.
And if there's anything more fun than that, it's watching President Trump debate his opposition while it's being hosted by fake news CNN.
So we know, right, we all know that this is not going to be a fair debate, just like this has not been a fair election season.
This has not been You know, we have not seen fair trials for President Trump.
We're not really living in the age of fairness, right?
We are living in the age of rigged elections, a lack of freedom of speech, and censorship, and obviously all of the political elites on the left and the right and the establishment are uniting to try to stop President Trump.
And, you know, we can talk about how there's now a sense of unity in the Republican Party, Well, that's what they're going to tell you.
But at the end of the day, right, all of these Republicans in office understand that they're going to need President Trump to win their elections.
They're going to need President Trump in order to fundraise in a general election year.
And so do I trust that all of these people truly have President Trump's back or that they're actually rooting for him to win?
Absolutely not.
But despite all of that adversity, we're going to see President Trump persevere, and I'm really excited that those of you watching have decided to spend your debate night with me.
The debate is going to start in about 40 minutes.
It's going to be live on CNN, but I am going to be carrying the stream here, and so you can watch my debate coverage.
Don't worry, I'm not going to be, you know, over-talking It's just a place where you can watch the debate and then afterwards, of course, I'll have some post debate commentary and prior to the debate starting tonight.
I'm going to have some pre debate coverage with former.
Governor of Illinois is actually a Democrat.
He calls himself a Trump a crap, so he's going to join me tonight is former Democrat governor of Illinois.
Rod Blagojevich, so he's going to be on momentarily and.
We're going to talk about whether or not Illinois is in play this year for President Trump, President Trump's rising poll numbers, and also the overwhelming support for President Trump in the black community.
But before we get started, I want to show you this article from the New York Post That came out today.
You know, as you've seen, President Trump and his campaign advisors have, I would say, joking, but they're not joking because we all know that it's not a joke.
It's actually a big reality.
And you've seen even medical doctors come out live on television and talk about how Joe Biden is clearly under the influence of drugs and stimulants in order to campaign and participate in the debate tonight.
So here's an article tonight from the New York Post that came out earlier today.
Adderall Botox and a B12 shot in the butt.
Why Trump's claim that Biden will be pumped up on drugs for the debate isn't so far fetched.
Donald Trump has claimed that Joe Biden will be pumped up on drugs to enhance his performance at Thursday's debate, including getting a big fat shot in the ass.
His assertions have been dismissed by some segments of the media as a campaign bluster.
But private doctors to the rich and famous tell The Post that VIPs often use drug cocktails in the ass.
And I don't even have any shame saying that.
an edge before they take the spotlight for a big event.
Yeah, I mean, look, even I, I don't use drugs, but when I'm feeling low energy, I go and I get an IV and I don't even have any shame saying that.
I go every three weeks, I go get an IV because I feel tired a lot of the time.
I travel a lot, and I want to be healthy.
I don't want to get sick.
And so I get vitamins injected into my body, and I'm 31 years old.
So again, I can only imagine what Joe Biden is having injected into his body.
But I have no shame in admitting that.
I certainly don't take Adderall.
I'm not taking cocaine.
But I definitely go to IV clinics at least once a month and I will get, you know, zinc, I'll get vitamin C, I'll get vitamin D, glutathione, I'll get biotin, I'll get vitamin B. I get all types of vitamins injected into my body and I'll sit there for an hour at a time because, you know, it really helps you feel better.
And you can do this once a week, I was told.
I just go once a month because, you know, they're kind of expensive.
They're almost like $200 every single time you go and you get one of these injections.
But you can actually go once a week, and they certainly do boost your energy.
And so doctors here told the New York Post that not only do they think that Joe Biden is getting IVs or shots of vitamin B, which, of course, boosts your energy levels, but also, you know, they said that he could possibly be on Adderall for enhanced focus as well.
These can include everything from peptides to a boost in brain function and Botox to avoid a spready brow to Adderall for enhanced focus, and, yes, sometimes even a shot in the butt.
Yeah, I mean, they give you your injections in the butt.
So, I used to get just the sole vitamin B injections before I started doing the vitamin IVs.
And anytime I would get a vitamin B shot, they would give it to me in the ass.
So, Trump's right.
When he says that Biden's going to get a shot in the ass.
I mean, anybody that gets a vitamin B shot would get a shot in their ass unless they were getting an IV.
So, you know, some people were like, oh, President Trump's being really crude and vulgar.
But no, he's absolutely 100% spot on.
This is how it works.
And I'm sure a lot of people have gotten vitamin B shots or vitamin injections.
And if you have, then you also know that that's how it's done.
Before I interview my guest tonight, I want to play a new Trump campaign ad that just came out today that's actually going to be broadcast during commercial breaks from the debate.
So this is an ad that was put out by the Trump campaign today, and it's really about Joe Biden's deteriorating state and his mental decline.
So take a look at this new Trump campaign ad.
When you think about the Joe Biden you saw in the debate, ask yourself a question.
Do you think the guy who was defeated by the stairs, got taken down by his bike, lost a fight with his jacket, and regularly gets lost, makes it four more years in the White House?
And you know who's waiting behind him, right?
Vote Joe Biden today.
Hit Kamala Harris tomorrow.
I'm Donald Trump and I approve this message.
So, I think it's a great ad.
I personally think that it's a funny ad and it's something that everybody can relate to because, let's be honest, everybody knows that Joe Biden is not in a good mental state and he is rapidly declining.
I mean, there's rumors that he actually shit himself, okay, at the G7 Summit recently.
There's rumors that this guy shit himself while meeting with the Pope.
And there are international media reports about how he passed gas in front of the royal family in the UK.
So this guy is an embarrassment to our country, and he clearly is not demonstrating the same type of stamina or energy levels that President Trump has.
And as we know, President Trump has enormous energy levels.
And so before I go to my guest tonight, before this pre-debate coverage, I do Want to take a moment to thank the sponsor of tonight's episode of Lumer Unleashed, Colonial Medals Group.

But joining me now to discuss the debate prior to going live at 9pm tonight and to also talk about his support for President Donald Trump As a Democrat, is former Democrat Governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich.
Rod, thank you so much for joining me tonight.
It's a pleasure to have you.
I know you're very busy and you probably had a lot of offers tonight ahead of the debate.
So I really appreciate you joining me tonight.
Thanks for having me.
It's nice to meet you.
Yes, you as well.
So, you know, you are not a typical Trump surrogate in the sense that you're not just a conservative or a registered Republican.
You actually are a registered Democrat, and you were the former governor of Illinois, but you have decided to endorse President Trump over Joe Biden despite the fact that you have, you know, helped well-known Democrats in the past get elected, people like Nancy Pelosi, and you are Well, I support President Trump for several reasons.
Trump.
So please explain to the viewers why, as a Democrat, you are endorsing President Trump for reelection and what you expect to see tonight ahead of the first presidential debate.
Well, I support President Trump for several reasons.
I have a personal reason, but in addition to the personal reason, and I wouldn't support him if I didn't believe in these things, I think today's Democratic Party is a very different party than the party I grew up in, the party I was involved in, the party that I represented as governor twice in Illinois, three terms in Congress.
I was the first Democrat governor to endorse Obama for president in 2008.
He and I knew each other in Illinois politics here in Chicago, came up together about the same time, different parts of town.
I have another confession to make.
I supported Nancy Pelosi to be the Democratic leader when I was a member of the House.
And so I think I have really strong Democratic credentials.
I like the things that I did as governor that helped people, working people, everyday people.
And I look at today's Democratic Party and I don't see a party that cares about those people.
And I look at President Trump, I look at the new Republican Party that he's been creating.
I think about the political realignment that's going on in American politics led by President Trump.
And so much of what the Democrat Party used to stand for and the people that we fought for are really the people that President Trump is fighting for and that today's Democratic Party has abandoned.
People who go to work every day, the men and women who do the work of the world.
Trump speaks to them.
He's addressing their issues.
He did so when he was president.
He's promising to do so again, and I know that he will.
I think about the black community, which has been very, very generous to me when it comes to support and votes and very loving to me during difficult times in my life and my family's life when Calamity came down on us, but I see what's happening with the black community, today's Democratic Party, how it treats the black community.
It treats it with the Democratic Party today and Joe Biden treats the black community as just a block of votes.
They're not at all interested in lifting black people out of the difficult conditions that they face in places like the inner city of Chicago.
They'd rather just leave them there and keep them angry at those in our society who are doing better economically.
Because if the Democrats lose the 95% of the black vote that they get traditionally consistently in elections, they can't win elections.
And so they have a very cynical, racist policy towards the black community, led by the so-called elite white liberals of the Democrat Party.
When I think about the values that matter to most people, Faith in God.
Belief in community.
Belief in the necessity of having police officers keeping us safe.
And the first duty of government being public safety.
When I think about looking after the little guy, the Democrat Party today doesn't speak to them.
It's become a corporate party.
It's actually become more of what the Republican Party used to be.
The Republican Party of the Bushes and the Cheneys.
In the Mitt Romney's, the Country Club Corporate Republican Party, they've moved over to today's Democrat Party, joined by a group of radical socialists.
It's a very weird coalition.
And the typical average working person that's made up the bulk of the Democratic Party and the black community and the Latino community have been left out.
And Trump is speaking to them.
And that's why Trump is going to win a historic number of black votes and Latino votes in this election.
And it's why I feel very confident that he's not only going to win The battleground states, but that he has a very good chance of winning a state like Illinois that hasn't gone to a Republican candidate since 1988.
Yeah, and there has been some discussion about whether or not Illinois is in play.
And you're absolutely correct.
14% of the population in Illinois is actually of the black community.
And President Trump's policies mean if you look at his first term in office, Yeah, the lowest unemployment for the black community.
And now, if you look at somebody like Joe Biden, who was responsible for, you know, the crime bills and massive incarceration for young black males throughout Joe Biden's very lengthy political career as a senator, vice president, and now, unfortunately, in my mind, the illegitimate occupant of the White House.
We also see, as you said, President Trump has Massive favorability among the black community.
His recent rally in the Bronx compared to the rally that was hosted just this last weekend by Congresswoman AOC and Jamal Bowman who ended up losing his election in his primary race on Tuesday.
25,000 people showed up to see President Trump in the Bronx and you didn't see him pandering to black people.
You didn't see him, you know, trying to speak Ebonics or, uh, you know, listen to black, uh, like blasting rap music or throwing up gang signs.
I mean, I say these things because this is the type of pandering that we're seeing coming out of the Democrat Party right now.
This is what they did at the rally.
And Joe Biden, to your point, has even gone as far as saying things like, oh, well, you're not black if you don't vote for me.
And he even filmed a black outreach commercial several months ago.
We played it on this show of himself Sitting with a black family eating fried chicken.
Are you going to show me that or did you want me to comment on that?
No, I just wanted to get your opinion on it.
I mean, we could pull the clip, but we did show this clip several months ago.
I just wanted to get your, you know, get your opinion on this.
Do you think that members of the black community enjoy being pandered to in such stereotypical ways?
Or do you think that President Trump just being himself and not really pandering or changing his campaign message to, you know, to go out and get the black or Hispanic vote is what you know, is behind his recent, you know, surge in polling when it comes to members of these communities?
I think there's four factors that are contributing to President Trump's growing support, increasingly growing support in the black community.
I think first and foremost, it's the failure of the Democratic Party to truly deliver for the black community, not just these last couple of years, these last three years with Joe Biden, but for a whole generation.
It's been nothing but talk and promises.
But no real fundamental opportunities to lift people who are living in poverty, out of poverty.
And the fear of the Democrats is if they lose, if the black community comes out of poverty, they're going to lose that base of political support.
It's a very cynical, calculated politics that they're playing.
And the community is growing increasingly to learn and recognize the phoniness of what those Democratic Party policies have been.
Yes, the Democratic political elite, largely made up of black political leaders, continue to advocate the policies of the Democrats, but at the grassroots level, at the street level, in the neighborhoods, and I see this in Chicago, where I live on the South side, on the on the West side, where I grew up, there's a real, very real undercurrent of talk.
You hear it in the barbershops, People are talking amongst themselves.
And they're seeing, you know, that they're expressing their frustration with the Democrats, that they find themselves in the same place that they've been for generations, as well as living in communities that are not safe.
And the Democrat Party has been attacking and abandoning the very people that keep black people safe, and all of us safe, and that's the police.
In addition to that, the second thing I would say is that President Trump has been vilified and persecuted in ways that people who've gone through the wrong side of the criminal justice system, like the black community, recognize.
And these weaponized prosecutors who've turned non-crimes into crimes to persecute President Trump Uh, is something that the black community fully understands.
I had difficulties myself with that criminal justice system.
It was in the black community that I found love and support and understanding because they recognize when something is fake and fraudulent and they see what's being done to Trump and they recognize it and they're going to respond with votes for President Trump.
The third point I would make is look at the issue of the criminal justice system and criminal justice reform.
Joe Biden was the architect of the 1994 crime bill.
He wrote a bill that condemned a whole generation of first time nonviolent offenders, drug offenders for the most part, to a whole, to decades of prison sentences, condemning them to no chance at a second chance.
And as a result of that, an author by the name of Michelle Alexander wrote a bestselling book called The New Jim Crow in America, which she explains was the result of the policies of Joe Biden and the Clinton administration back in the mid 1990s.
So the Democrat party has abandoned and persecuted the black community with its policies.
Contrast that with Trump.
When he was president, he passed the First Step Act.
Which began this process of undoing the damage that, and the harm that was done by Joe Biden.
And then the fourth point I would make is economic.
Under Trump, the economy was so much better for everybody and the black community for the first time in a long time.
So economic growth that was meaningful, wages going up and the promise and hope of even better in the days and weeks ahead.
So when you can find all of those things, and then the final point I would make is President Trump's style.
Being authentic, being what he is, acting as he does, saying what he thinks and what he believes, being so not a politician.
I think that appeals to a lot of black people, particularly black men.
And I had the misfortune of spending eight years in prison because of fake corrupt charges by fake and corrupt prosecutors.
They weaponized the stuff against me that was political conversations begun by then president elect Obama.
They weren't criminal.
He goes to the White House for eight years.
I go to the big house for eight years.
And during that eight years, I had a chance to spend a lot of time with some of my colleagues, black guys who'd been in prison for a long, long time and got to know them.
And I saw how they admire Trump for a straightforward attitude and his personality and his willingness to go against the grain.
So when I think about those factors and I think about the possibilities in this particular campaign.
I'm confident and in fact we're seeing it already.
The Trump campaign is going to make a concerted effort to try to win black votes and I hope they do because most Republican candidates don't even try.
They are there for Trump to get and I predict he will get a record number of black votes and it's going to be among the reasons why he's going to win this election by a far bigger margin than any poll is going to indicate.
Absolutely, and it is interesting that as a Democrat, you know, you couldn't count on somebody like Barack Hussein Obama to pardon you, but it was actually President Trump.
So, you know, it just goes to show you that if President Trump truly was as vindictive and as focused on revenge as, you know, Joe Biden and the mainstream media like to falsely accuse him of being.
And I predict that this is going to be a major focal point tonight by people like, you know, Jay Tapper and Dana Bash and Joe Biden himself, because they want to characterize President Trump as some vindictive dictator who's hellbent on, you know, getting back into office getting back into office so that he can imprison all of his political opponents.
But clearly, President Trump, if he truly was a dictator, he's not going to be issuing pardons to Democrats like yourself.
Well, look, my personal experience with President Trump is that he's a very kind person.
I've gotten to know him just a little bit.
I don't know him that well.
I did his television show, Celebrity Apprentice.
He was very kind to me on a personal level because he was sympathetic to the plight that I was going through.
And who would have thought way back then when I did that show in 2009 that the years would go by, he would be the one that would rescue me from what was done to me.
Restore my freedom, reunite me with my two little girls, my daughters, and my wife.
And that then what was done to me at the AAA level to a Democrat governor would be used against him at the Major League level by a Democratic president's administration.
And let's not kid ourselves, the DNC is working with the DOJ To do what they're doing to President Trump.
This is a coordinated campaign and Biden knows it.
And that is corrupt government.
And it's the kind of thing that's going to destroy our freedoms.
And so Trump standing up to this is not only heroic because it's a hard thing to stand up against.
I know it from my own experience.
But it's something that's so much larger than what's being done to him, a former president, and hopefully future president, or me, a Democrat governor.
They're doing this to the American people.
And the community, again, that recognizes this the most is the Black community.
And I do believe Again, that the Democrats are overplaying their hands with their persecution of President Trump and put aside the outrageous lack of patriotism to destroy our rule of law and our Constitution for political purposes.
It's also going to have, I really believe, A backfiring effect on the Biden campaign.
Are you seeing that?
Are you seeing?
I mean, I've seen it firsthand because, you know, I organized the rally in front of the Fulton County Jail the day that President Trump was arrested in Georgia when he had to take his mug shot.
And, you know, you had people like Fannie Willis and Joe Biden and the Democrats outside having their little party and their press conferences with MSDNC where they were celebrating the fact that Donald Trump had to take a mugshot, but I found that most of the people who were outside of the jail at the rally I organized were black people.
They were black people who were telling me that Fannie Willis had victimized their family members, too, and that they had family members, many of them were black men, their fathers, their uncles, their brothers, their cousins, serving inside the Fulton County Jail.
And so, if anything, I think that you're absolutely correct that President Trump now, I guess, Being indicted four times and having to take a mugshot, being arrested, facing all of these guilty, guilty charges, has really earned him what I would like to call street cred with the black community.
And they see, wow, they really are trying to go after this billionaire businessman.
And I guess that in a country where people didn't really believe that politicians, or for the most part, I think that there's this general consensus in our country, correct me If you think I'm wrong.
But for the most part, people tend to think that politicians are above the law.
They see politicians breaking the law all the time, getting involved in corruption scandals.
And very rarely do we see politicians, especially those who actually are guilty, and we have a lot of evidence of this.
Just look at the Biden crime family, for example.
They never seem to go to jail.
They never seem to face any prosecution for their crimes.
And so I think that you have a lot of people, both Republican, Independent, and Democrat, who are looking at President Trump and they're thinking, wow, you know, if a billionaire businessman and the President of the United States can have an election stolen from him and he can be fined hundreds of millions of dollars by corrupt judges Who have financial conflicts of interest, as is the case of Judge Merchant or personal conflicts in the case of Judge Ngoron.
What's going to happen to me?
Because your average person is not a billionaire.
Your average person is never going to hold elected office in this country.
They're never going to be president of the United States.
And then you also add in the racial component, too, where people are saying it's not just any billionaire, any politician, but it's a rich white man.
And I think this has really They've taken the shutters off of a lot of people's eyes and disrupted the cognitive dissonance that millions of Americans have been subjected to over these last eight years of non-stop witch hunts in the media and false allegations against President Trump.
And they're realizing, wow, everything that I've been told over these last eight years is a lie.
And Donald Trump is right when he says the only thing standing in between you and them is me.
Do you find that a lot of Democrats are going to be voting for President Trump because they feel like this is just Yes, I do.
Again, I've talked about the black community.
And again, I just want to emphasize that that's going to be something that's going to be very significant in favor of the president of President Trump.
By the way, I just neglected to point out the migrant crisis is another issue.
Illegal immigrants coming to America and being treated by Democratic politicians like our mayor here in Chicago and our governor here in Illinois, Governor Pritzker.
And putting their priorities, the priorities of illegal immigrants above the interests of the black community is a very big issue in the black community.
With regard to just general democratic voters, working class voters, irrespective of race, color, ethnicity, creed, whatever the case may be.
No, I think most Americans get it.
I think most Americans have common sense.
I think most Americans believe in fair play.
I think most Americans recoil.
Uh, from things they see is wrong and unfair.
And I think they see exactly this when it comes to the persecution of President Trump.
And I would also say that among working class Democrats, whether they be white ethnic Democrats, Latinos, where by the way, President Trump is going to score another huge success in terms of making, getting record numbers of Latino votes in this election as well.
No, I think among the rank and file Democrats across the board, men and women who work.
They see this and they ask themselves and they say, why is all of this happening to one man who has had so much success in his life?
And all of a sudden, he's never had a problem with the law.
And now suddenly all of these things are happening to this one man at one time.
And then the next question they're asking themselves, and I think the answer to this question is admiration for Trump.
They say, why would a guy who's had all that success in his life?
The money he's made in business and real estate, the success he's had as a celebrity on his program, Celebrity Apprentice, a number one rated show.
Why would a guy put himself in a place like this and take these hits and face this persecution and be vilified and treated the way he's been treated?
Why would he do that?
Unless he truly does love this country.
And unless he truly believes that he can fix it, and not only save America, but make America great again.
See, I think most people are seeing it that way.
And I think as time goes on and the persecution continues, and the persecution continues to mount against President Trump, I think more and more Democratic voters are going to leave the Democratic Party, at least in this election, and support him.
And my pitch to the Democratic voter is put aside your party affiliation.
There's something more important than your loyalty to your party.
It's called your love of country.
And it's hard for people to kind of abandon the party they grew up.
I know for myself, it's not so easy to, you know, support, you know, to not take a Democratic ballot during the primary, for example.
But the stakes couldn't be higher.
The Constitution's at stake.
The rule of law's at stake.
Freedom's at stake.
Our future's at stake.
And the choice is very clear.
And I think in overwhelming numbers, Democrat voters are going to leave the Democrat party in this election and support Trump.
Absolutely, and I think you hit the nail on the head there, Rod, in that their hatred for Donald Trump is greater than their love for their country.
And that's the reason why we have so much division and so much chaos in our country.
Not because of Donald Trump, not because of the so-called MAGA extremists, as Governor Pritzker has said.
In fact, we have a clip, I believe, we can play here of Governor Pritzker comparing Donald Trump to Hitler and comparing what he likes to call MAGA extremists to Nazis.
We can play that.
But before we play that, I do want to get your take on the pandering of the Biden campaign to the black community.
We found that fried chicken cookout ad.
And this is from earlier this year, but it's just an example of the gross stereotypes being pushed by the Biden campaign and the extreme pandering because they have nothing to campaign on.
And so they have to campaign on identity politics and racial division as opposed to what you said Donald Trump is campaigning on, his true authentic self.
So let's go ahead.
I want to get your take on this ad that was put out by the Biden campaign.
I want to get your take on this ad.
I want to get your take on this ad.
And Joe Biden went to this black family's house and decided to have lunch with him.
And the food that they decided to cater was from a fried chicken restaurant.
And you had You know, you could see it in the video there.
I mean, I pick up on those things as somebody who's in politics and in media.
What is your take on that as somebody who is a Democrat, was a governor of a state with a very large black population?
I mean, do you find that to be as insulting as I find it to be?
Yes, I do.
I mean, I'm actually surprised that they would do something like that.
It's so obvious and it shows the contempt that the Biden team has for the black community to think that something as blatantly stupid as that ad and using Fried chicken is some sort of a symbol.
That wouldn't be anything but offensive to the Black community.
The Black community, like everybody else, they're smart.
They're not stupid.
And I think they're going to see through that.
And you know, it isn't just Black people who like fried chicken.
I confess, I like fried chicken.
I think it's fantastic.
Yeah, I love fried chicken!
But it just goes to show you the pandering and we saw this with Hillary Clinton too when when she was campaigning against Donald Trump when she was talking about carrying hot sauce in her purse.
My point is is that Joe Biden Has nothing to campaign on.
He has to use racial divisions and racial language and racial symbolism in order to, you know, try to campaign in these communities that he's losing a grip on.
And you mentioned it.
Immigration is a massive issue.
Over 65% of Americans in this country support mass deportations.
And as we know, you know, President Trump has promised to launch a mass deportation campaign on day one of his Of this new administration and I think tonight that we're going to see President Trump trying to focus on issues like the invasion and the Biden migrant crisis that is resulting in the rapes and the murders of innocent people, innocent young children across this country.
Every single day there's a new story about a young woman who's raped and murdered and strangled and buried in a ditch by an illegal alien.
We're going to see President Trump focus on Bidenomics and inflation and the devastation that Biden's policies has caused our economy and everyday Americans who are struggling.
And as we have seen by messaging that has already been pushed out tonight by Joe Biden and his surrogates and people like Gavin Newsom, who are in the spin room tonight, invited by the Biden campaign, and Jasmine Crockett and Raphael Warneck, all these people want to focus on are abortion.
Racial issues.
And, oh, Orange Man Bad and Trump supporters are MAGA extremists and domestic terrorists who committed an insurrection on January 6.
Those are the three things that they're focusing on because they have absolutely no record in these terrible four years that Joe Biden has served in the White House.
And did you say, Laura, that there was going to be a clip from Governor Pritzker?
Yeah, absolutely.
We'll play this clip as well because, you know, President Trump had a really big rally in Illinois not too long ago, and Governor Pritzker, just like many of his Democrat colleagues, they have nothing to run on.
And so, you know, when asked about President Trump, instead of focusing on policies, he actually compared MAGA and President Trump to the Holocaust.
So let's go ahead and play this clip.
Jen, you know, I led the building of a Holocaust museum.
The rhetoric that's being used by Donald Trump, the rhetoric that's being used by some of the MAGA extremists, is rhetoric that was used in the 1930s in Germany.
I am very concerned about the direction of the country if we see policies like what Donald Trump is espousing come to light for our country.
So apparently if you want closed borders and you don't want to see invaders getting bussed into Chicago bus stations, which, you know, we've released exclusive video footage of that.
We've been tracking the invasion in major cities and we have correspondents all over the country that film migrant buses and the invasion.
I traveled down to the Darien Gap myself and I'm going to be releasing a documentary about this invasion into our country.
But if you're a Democrat, like Governor Pritzker, According to them, you are a Nazi.
You are just like Hitler if you want to kick all of the illegal aliens out of our country, if you are sick and tired of migrant crime, if you are sick and tired of inflation or gang violence in inner cities and places like Chicago where a lot of these Venezuelan gangbangers are coming in and absolutely wreaking havoc and promoting so much lethal violence in our communities.
What do you think about his rhetoric?
Well, I can't help but make a comment.
You showed the edit about the fried chicken a moment ago.
There's another guy who likes fried chicken and a lot of it.
Yeah, and President Trump actually said that, too.
We have a clip of President Trump.
I think we have a clip of President Trump saying that Governor Pritzker enjoys eating way too much.
So I'll let you finish.
And then, of course, we can we can finish on that clip before we go to the debate in three minutes.
But continue.
Well, I would simply say, you know, J.B.
Pritzker, he and I Know each other very well.
He used to work for me.
He asked me to appoint him to the Illinois Human Rights Commission when I was governor, and I happily did so.
He's on the FBI tapes.
They were taping my phones, asking me to make him a United States Senator.
That guy who just talked about the Holocaust Museum, he was instrumental in making it happen because he was able to get me as the governor to provide a lot of funding for the building of that Holocaust Museum.
And that was a great thing that we did, and he deserves credit for that.
He's on the FBI tapes asking me to make him a United States Senator and he says to me on that call he understands my desire to appoint someone who's black to the position to succeed Obama because at the time when Obama left for the White House there were no black senators.
And in the age of Obama, I felt it was important to have someone who was black be appointed by me to the United States Senate.
Pritzker's comment was, quote unquote, he understands I have a black problem.
In other words, a political problem, which I think indicates kind of where he is when it comes to the issue of race.
And I would say that's the same thing when it comes to the issue of other things regarding people.
And for him to be able to say those things about Trump is really the pot calling the kettle black.
This whole stuff with racism and bringing up race is really projection by Democratic political leaders, projecting their views and pointing fingers at Trump because they have nothing else that they can say because they can't defend the policy of Joe Biden.
Absolutely.
They weaponize prosecutors.
They trump up fake charges.
They're destroying our democracy.
They're doing the things that were done in Nazi Germany.
Weaponized prosecutions are the things done in Nazi Germany.
The stuff that JB is supporting.
And so when he talks like that it really makes me I'm upset at myself for appointing that guy to the Illinois Human Rights Commission.
I thought he was a better guy and a different guy, but unfortunately, he's just another, well, politician who got lucky in life and inherited a couple of billion dollars from his successful family.
Yeah, well, we'll forgive you by all of your surrogacy work for President Trump.
Before we cut to the debate, we'll play this clip of President Trump talking about Governor Pritzker just because it's funny and it goes to your point about all the fried chicken, right?
Let's play the clip.
Look at Illinois.
I don't know how it continues.
You have this guy Pritzker.
I don't know.
He's too busy eating.
He wants to eat all the time.
Would you like a hamburger?
How many do you want?
Five?
I'll have five.
Look at Illinois.
So hopefully we see that same type of humor tonight from President Trump during the debate.
The debate is about to start in one minute, Governor, so any last words, any last comments?
Of course, I really appreciate you taking time to come on tonight.
Really appreciate all the amazing work you're doing as a surrogate for President Trump.
Last words for the viewers before we watch this debate, which should be interesting.
If CNN lets us watch the debate, that is.
Thank you, Laura.
Very quickly, in spite of all of our problems, we live in the greatest country in the history of the world.
America is a special place.
The American Dream still is available for people.
This election, what's at stake is the continuation of the American Dream, making it better and more available to more people, protecting the rule of law and the Constitution, and actually lifting up people who've been left behind and kept down.
That's what this election is about.
We have a real leader in Donald Trump who's not afraid.
Who's courageous, who's tough and strong.
And we have the other guy who's in no way capable of handling the job and is not calling the shots.
I think the choice is clear.
And I would say to my fellow Democrats, put aside your party affiliation and put first your love of country and do the right thing and help us make America save America and make America great again.
Well, Governor, thank you so much for coming on Luma Unleashed tonight.
Where can people follow you?
Oh, the real Rod Blagojevich on Twitter, I suppose.
I think that's what that is.
Yeah.
Whatever.
Okay, wonderful.
Well, I really appreciate you taking time to come on tonight, and you're welcome to come on Loomer Unleashed anytime you want to come on and spread a message and recruit more Democrats.
You call yourself a Trumpercat?
What do you call yourself?
Yeah, I think I'm the original Trumpocrat.
I call myself a Trumpocrat.
Democrats for Trump.
But I know I'm not the only one.
There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Trumpocrats out there.
And I think it's growing with every passing day.
Well, we like that.
We want more Trumpocrats.
So thank you so much for coming on and have a great night.
Enjoy the debate.
Thank you.
Thank you, Laura.
Thank you.
All right, we're going to tune in now to debate coverage.
The debate is now beginning.
So you can watch it live here on Lumar Unleashed.
Live on CNN, of course, but if you don't want to give CNN the viewership, you can watch it here.
If one of them can at least give a spark of that, maybe you change things.
And this is actually, I think, the other problem for both men.
Neither of them are great visionaries about, you know, painting a picture of what is the country supposed to be.
And it's hard for them because they both are not the most articulate men in the world.
I don't know how that's going to play out.
Here on the panel, the preliminaries are over.
The main event is here.
We'll be back with complete coverage and analysis later tonight.
And with that, let's turn things over to CNN's Jake Tapper and also CNN's Dana Bash for this first presidential debate of 2024 campaign.
Alrighty, the debate is now beginning.
So I'm just going to be in the bottom corner here because, you know, I don't want to talk over everybody.
But you can watch live here and stick around for post-debate coverage.
So excited.
We're live from Georgia, a key battleground state in the race for the White House.
In just moments, the current U.S.
president will debate the former U.S.
president as their party's presumptive nominees, a first in American history.
We want to welcome our viewers in the United States and around the world to our studios in Atlanta.
This is the CNN presidential debate.
Also, you can play along.
The Trump campaign released the official debate night bingo, so I'm going to be keeping track tonight for all of you.
CNN International, CNN.com, CNN Max, and CNN Español.
This is a pivotal moment between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.
For the nation's highest office.
Each will make his case to the American people with just over four months until election day.
Good evening, I'm Dana Bash, anchor of CNN's Inside Politics and co-anchor of State of the Union.
I'm Jake Tapper, anchor of CNN's The Lead and co-anchor of State of the Union.
Dana and I will co-moderate this evening.
Our job is to facilitate a debate between the two candidates tonight.
Before we introduce them, we want to share the rules of the debate with the audience at home.
Former President Trump will be on the left side of the screen.
President Biden will be appearing on the right.
Each candidate will have two minutes to answer a question and one minute each for responses and rebuttals.
An additional minute for follow-up clarification or response is at the moderator's discretion.
When it's time for a candidate to speak, his microphone will be turned on and his opponent's microphone will be turned off.
Should a candidate interrupt when his microphone is muted, he will be difficult to understand for viewers at home.
At the end of the debate, each candidate will get two minutes for closing statements.
There is no studio audience tonight.
Now please welcome the 46th President of the United States, Joe Biden.
debate.
By accepting our invitation to debate, both candidates and their campaigns agreed to accept these rules.
Now, please welcome the 46th president of the United States, Joe Biden.
Please welcome the 45th president of the United States, Donald Trump.
Gentlemen.
I'm just tweeting about how weird it is that there's no audience.
Let's start with the issue that voters consistently say is their top concern, the economy.
President Biden, inflation has slowed, but prices remain high.
Since you took office, the price of essentials has increased.
For example, a basket of groceries that cost $100 then, now costs more than $120.
And typical home prices have jumped more than 30%.
What do you say to voters who feel they are worse off under your presidency than they were under President Trump?
We've got to take a look at what I was left when I became president.
What Mr. Trump left me.
We had an economy that was in free fall.
Oh my god!
I'm unmuted, right?
Many people were dying.
All I'm saying is it's not that serious.
Just inject a little bleach into your arm.
You'll be alright.
The economy collapsed.
Unemployment rate rose to 15%.
It was terrible.
And so what we had to do was try to put things back together again.
That's exactly what we began to do.
We created 15,000 new jobs.
We brought out a position where we have 800,000 new manufacturing jobs.
But there's more to be done.
There's more to be done.
Working-class people are still in trouble.
I come from Scranton, Pennsylvania.
I come from a household where the kitchen table things weren't able to be met during the month.
It was a problem.
The price of eggs, the price of gas, the price of housing, the price of a whole range of things.
Sure, I deal with those problems.
And we're going to make sure that we reduce the price of housing.
We're going to make sure we build 2 million new units.
We're going to make sure we cap rents so corporate greed can't take over.
The combination of what I was left with and corporate greed is the reason why we're in this problem right now.
In addition to that, we're in a situation where if you take a look at all that was done in his administration, He didn't do much at all.
By the time he left, things were in chaos.
Literally chaos.
And so we put things back together.
We created, I said, those jobs.
We made sure we had a situation where we now, we brought down, which is a major issue for many people, to $15 for an insulin shot, as opposed to $400.
No senior has to pay more than $200 for all the drugs they conclude beginning next year.
And we're going to make that available to everybody, to all Americans.
So we're working to bring down the price around the kitchen table, and that's what we're going to get done.
Thank you.
President Trump?
We're the greatest economy in the history of our country.
We have never done so well.
Everybody was amazed by it.
Other countries were copying us.
We got hit with COVID.
And when we did, we spent the money necessary so we wouldn't end up in a Great Depression, the likes of which we had in 1929.
By the time we finished, we did a great job.
We got a lot of credit for the economy, a lot of credit for the military and no war and so many other things.
Everything was rocking good.
But the thing we never got the credit for and we have is getting us out of that COVID mess.
He created mandates.
That was a disaster for our country.
But other than that, we had we had given them back a country where the stock market actually was higher than pre-COVID.
And nobody thought that was even possible.
The only jobs he created are for illegal immigrants and bounce back jobs, a bounce back from the COVID.
He has not done a good job.
He's done a poor job and inflation is killing our country.
It is absolutely killing us.
Thank you, President Biden.
Well, look, the greatest economy in the world.
He's the only one who thinks that, I think.
I don't know anybody else who thinks he has the greatest economy in the world.
And, you know, the fact of the matter is that we find ourselves in a situation where his economy, he rewarded the wealthy.
He had the largest tax cut in American history, $2 trillion.
He raised a deficit larger than any president in one term.
Takes credit for Trump economy.
He's the only president other than Herbert Hoover who's lost more jobs.
...was significant, and the military.
You know, when he was president, they were still killing people in Afghanistan.
He didn't do anything about that.
When he was president, we still found ourselves in a position where you had a notion that we were this safe country.
Truth is, I'm the only president in this century that doesn't have any... Drugs are wearing off!
...any troops dying anywhere in the world like he did.
President Trump, I want to follow up if I can.
Are you allowed to respond to him?
Well, I'm going to ask you a follow-up.
You can do whatever you want with the minute that we gave you.
I want to follow up.
You want to impose a 10% tariff on all goods coming into the U.S.
How will you ensure that that doesn't drive prices even higher?
Not going to drive them higher, it's just going to cost countries that have been ripping us off for years like China, and many others in all fairness to China.
It's going to just force them to pay us a lot of money, reduce our deficit tremendously, and give us a lot of power for other things.
But he made a statement, the only thing he was right about is I gave you the largest tax cut in history.
I also gave you the largest regulation cut in history.
That's why we had all the jobs.
And the jobs went down and then they bounced back.
And he's taking credit for bounce back jobs.
You can't do that.
He also said he inherited 9% inflation.
Now, he inherited no inflation and it stayed that way for 14 months.
And then it blew up.
They spent money like a bunch of people that didn't know what they were doing.
And they don't know what they were doing.
It was the worst, probably the worst administration in history.
There's never been.
And as far as Afghanistan is concerned, I was getting out of Afghanistan.
We were getting out with dignity, with strength, with power.
He got out.
It was the most embarrassing day in the history of our country's life.
President Trump, over the last eight years, under both of your administrations, the national debt soared to record highs.
And according to a new nonpartisan analysis, President Trump, your administration... We almost have bingo, you guys!
We just need Joe Biden to fall down and then we're going to have a bingo.
...4.3 trillion dollars in new debt.
So, former President Trump, many of the tax cuts that you signed into law are set to expire next year.
You want to extend them and go even further, you say, with the U.S.
...and record debt.
Why should top earners and corporations pay even less in taxes than they do now?
Because the tax cuts spurred the greatest economy that we've ever seen just prior to COVID.
And even after COVID, it was so strong that we were able to get through COVID much better than just about any other country.
But we spurred, that tax spurred.
Now, when we cut the taxes, as an example, the corporate tax was cut down to 21 percent from 39 percent.
Much less tax.
And companies were bringing back trillions of dollars back into our country.
The country was going like never before.
And we were ready to start paying down debt.
We're ready to start using the liquid gold right under our feet.
The oil and gas right under our feet.
We were going to have something that nobody else has had.
We got hit with COVID.
We did a lot to fix it.
I gave him an unbelievable situation with all of the therapeutics and all of the things that we came up with.
We gave him something great.
Remember, more people died under his administration, even though we had largely fixed it.
More people died under his administration than our administration, and we were right in the middle of it.
Something which a lot of people don't like to talk about.
But he had far more people dying in his administration.
He did the mandate, which is a disaster, mandating it.
The vaccine went out.
He did a mandate on the vaccine, which is the thing that people most objected to about the vaccine.
And he did a very poor job, just a very poor job.
And I will tell you, not only poor there, but throughout the entire world, we're no longer respected as a country.
They don't respect our leadership.
They don't respect the United States anymore.
I don't think he knows where he is.
We're like a third world nation between weaponization of his election, trying to go after his political opponent.
All of the things he's done, we've become like a third world nation.
And it's a shame.
The damage he's done to our country, and I'd love to ask him, and will, why he allowed millions of people to come in here from prisons, jails, and mental institutions to come into our country and destroy our country.
President Trump, we will get to immigration later in this block.
President Biden, I want to give you an opportunity to respond to this question on national debt.
He had the largest national debt of any president in a four-year period, number one.
Number two, he got a $2 trillion tax cut and benefited the very wealthy.
What I'm going to do is fix the tax system.
For example, we have a thousand trillionaires in America.
I mean billionaires in America.
And what's happening?
They're in a situation where they, in fact, pay 8.2% in taxes.
If they just paid 24% or 25%, either one of those numbers, we may raise $500 million, billion dollars, I should say, in a 10-year period.
We'd be able to wipe out his debt.
We'd be able to help make sure that all those things we need to do, child care, elder care, making sure that we continue to strengthen our health care system, making sure that we're able to make every single solitary person I didn't know that we had over a thousand trillionaires in America, you guys.
I had no idea.
It's news to me.
I didn't even know that we had a trillionaire.
Thank you, President Biden.
President Trump was right.
He did beat Medicare.
He beat it to death.
And he's destroying Medicare because all of these people are coming in.
They're putting them on Medicare.
They're putting them on Social Security.
They're going to destroy Social Security.
This man is going to single handedly destroy Social Security.
These millions and millions of people coming in, they're trying to put them on Social Security.
He will wipe out Social Security.
He will wipe out Medicare.
So he was right in the way he finished that sentence.
And it's a shame.
What's happened to our country in the last four years is not to be believed.
Foreign countries, I'm friends with a lot of people, they cannot believe what happened to the United States of America.
We're no longer respected.
They don't like us.
We give them everything they want.
And they think we're very stupid people.
What we're doing for other countries, and they do nothing for us.
What this man has done is absolutely criminal.
Thank you, President Trump.
Dana?
This is the first presidential election since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
This morning, the court ruled on yet another abortion case, temporarily allowing emergency abortions to continue in Idaho, despite that state's restrictive ban.
Former President Trump, You take credit for the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which returned the issue of abortion to the states.
Correct.
However, the federal government still plays a role in whether or not women have access to abortion pills.
They're used in about two-thirds of all abortions.
As president, would you block abortion medication?
First of all, the Supreme Court just approved the abortion bill, and I agree with their decision to have done that, and I will not block it.
And if you look at this whole question that you're asking, complex but not really complex.
Fifty-one years ago, you had Roe's trade, and everybody wanted to get it back to the states.
Everybody, without exception.
Democrats, Republicans, liberals, conservatives.
Everybody wanted it back.
Religious leaders.
And what I did is I put three great Supreme Court justices on the court.
And they happened to vote in favor of killing Roe v. Wade and moving it back to the states.
This is something that everybody wanted.
Now, 10 years ago or so, they started talking about how many weeks and how many this, getting into other things.
But every legal scholar throughout the world, the most respected, wanted it brought back to the states.
I did that.
Now the states are working it out.
If you look at Ohio, it was a decision that was it was an end result.
It was a little bit more liberal than you would have thought.
Kansas, I would say the same thing.
Texas is different.
Florida is different.
But they're all making their own decisions right now.
And right now, the states.
That's amazing.
Reagan, I believe in the exceptions.
I am a person that believes.
And frankly, I think it's important to believe in the exceptions.
Some people, you have to follow your heart.
Some people don't believe in that.
But I believe in the exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother.
I think it's very important.
Some people don't.
Follow your heart.
But you have to get elected also, because that has to do with other things.
You've got to get elected.
The problem they have is they're radical, because they will take the life of a child in the eighth month, the ninth month, and even after birth.
After birth, if you look at the former governor of Virginia, he was willing to do this.
He said, we'll put the baby aside and we'll determine what we do with the baby, meaning we'll kill the baby.
What happened is we brought it back to the states, and the country is now coming together on this issue.
It's been a great thing.
Thank you.
President Biden?
It's been a terrible thing, what you've done.
The fact is that the vast majority of constitutional scholars supported Roe when it was decided.
Supported Roe.
And that's this idea that they're all against it.
It's just ridiculous.
And this is the guy who says the state should be able to have it.
We're in a state where in six weeks, you don't even know whether you're pregnant or not, but you cannot see a doctor and have him decide on what your circumstances are, whether you need help.
The idea that states are able to, a little like saying, we're going to turn civil rights back to the states.
Let each state have a different rule.
Look, there's so many young women who have been, including a young woman who just was murdered.
And he went to the funeral.
And the idea that she was murdered by an immigrant coming in.
They talk about that.
But here's the deal.
There's a lot of young women to be raped by their in-laws, by their spouses.
Brothers and sisters by just it's just ridiculous and they can do nothing about it and they try to arrest them on the cross state line.
Thank you.
There have been many young women murdered by the same people he allows to come across our border.
We have a border that's the most dangerous place anywhere in the world.
Consider, the most dangerous place anywhere in the world.
And he opened it up, and these killers are coming into our country.
And they are raping and killing women.
And it's a terrible thing.
As far as the abortion is concerned, it is now back with the states.
The states are voting.
In many cases, it's frankly a very liberal decision.
In many cases, it's the opposite.
But they're voting, and it's bringing it back to the vote of the people, which is what everybody wanted, including the founders, if they knew about this issue.
Which, frankly, they didn't.
But they would have... Everybody wanted it brought back.
Ronald Reagan wanted it brought back.
He wasn't able to get it.
Everybody wanted it brought back.
The president had tried to get it back.
I was the one to do it.
And again, this gives it the vote of the people, and that's where they wanted it.
Every legal scholar wanted it that way.
Staying on the topic of abortion, President Biden, seven states... I'll let you do that.
This is the same topic.
Seven states have no legal restrictions on how far into a pregnancy a woman can obtain an abortion.
Do you support any legal limits on how late a woman... Joe Biden literally just said more people get raped by their brothers and sisters than by illegal aliens.
First time is between a woman and a doctor.
Second time is between...
That's how it should be run.
That's what you're going to do.
between the doctor, I mean, between the woman and the state.
The idea that politicians, that the founders want the politicians to be the ones making decisions about women's health is ridiculous.
That's the last.
No politician should be making that.
A doctor should be making those decisions.
That's how it should be run.
That's what you're going to do.
And if I'm elected, I'm going to restore Roe v. Wade.
So that means he can take the life of the baby in the ninth month and even after birth, because some states Democrat-run ticket after birth Again, the governor, former governor of Virginia, put the baby down, then we decide what to do with it.
So he's willing to, as we say, rip the baby out of the womb in the ninth month.
Oh my God, is he going to run away?
Nobody wants that to happen.
Is he going to walk off stage?
Nobody wants it to happen.
That is simply not true.
The Roe v. Wade does not provide for that.
That's not the circumstance.
Only if a woman's life is in danger, she's going to die.
That's the only circumstance in which that can happen.
But we are not for late-term abortion.
Period.
Under Roe v. Wade, you have late-term abortion.
You can do whatever you want, depending on the state.
You can do whatever you want.
We don't think that's a good thing.
We think it's a radical thing.
We think the Democrats are the radicals, not the Republicans.
For 51 years, that was the law.
51 years, Constitutional Scholarship said it was the right way to go.
51 years, and it was taken away because this guy put very conservative members on the Supreme Court.
He takes credit for taking it away.
What's he going to do?
If the MAGA Republicans, he gets elected, and the MAGA Republicans control the Congress, and they pass a universal ban on abortion, period.
Across the board.
At six weeks, or seven, or eight, or ten weeks.
Something very, very conservative.
If you're going to sign that bill, I'll veto it.
He'll sign it.
Thank you.
Let's turn now to the issue of immigration and border security.
President Biden, a record number of migrants have illegally crossed the southern border on your watch, overwhelming border states and overburdening cities such as New York and Chicago, and in some cases causing real safety and security concerns.
Given that, why should voters trust you to solve this crisis?
Because we worked very hard to get a bipartisan agreement that not only changed all of that, it made sure that we are in a situation where you had no circumstance where they could come across the border with the number of border police there are now.
We significantly increased the number of asylum officers.
Significantly.
By the way, the Border Patrol endorsed me, endorsed my position.
In addition to that, we find ourselves in a situation where, when he was president, he was separating babies from their mothers, putting them in cages, making sure the families were separated.
That's not the right way to go.
What I've done, since I've changed the law, what's happened?
I've changed it in a way that now you're in a situation where there are 40% fewer people coming across the border illegally.
That's better than when he left office.
And I'm going to continue to move until we get the total ban.
I really don't know what he said at the end of that sentence.
I don't think he knows what he said either.
Look, we have the safest border in the history of our country.
Can't hear it.
Why are they muting him?
Open up our border.
Open up our country.
Are they muting Trump?
People that are mental institutions, insane asylum, terrorists.
We have the largest number of terrorists coming into our country right now.
All terrorists all over the world, not just in South America, all over the world.
They come from the Middle East, everywhere, all over the world.
They're pouring in.
And this guy just left it open.
And he didn't need legislation, because I didn't have legislation.
I said, close the border.
We had the safest border in history.
In that final couple of months of my presidency, we had, according to Border Patrol, who is great, and by the way, who endorsed me for president, but I won't say that, but they endorsed me for president.
Brandon, just speak to him.
I love how he says, I won't say that.
But then he says it again.
Now we have the worst border in history.
There's never been anything like it.
And people are dying all over the place, including the people that are coming up in caravans.
Thank you, President Trump.
President Biden?
The only terrorist who's done anything crossing the border is one who came along and killed three in his administration.
Killed an al-Qaeda person in his administration.
Killed three American soldiers.
Oh my God, he's so brain dead.
I'm not saying that no terrorist ever got through with the idea that they're emptying their prisons.
We're welcoming these people.
That's simply not true.
There's no data to support what he said.
Once again, he's exaggerating.
He's lying.
President Trump, staying on the topic of immigration, you've said that you're going to carry out, quote, the largest domestic deportation operation in American history, unquote.
Does that mean that you will deport every undocumented immigrant in America, including those who have jobs, including those whose spouses are citizens, and including those who have lived here for decades?
And if so, how will you do it?
Just one second.
He said we kill three people.
The people we killed are al-Baghdadi and Salamani, the two greatest terrorists, biggest terrorists anywhere in the world.
And it had a huge impact on everything, not just border, on everything.
He's the one that killed people with the bad water, including hundreds of thousands of people.
We live in a rat's nest.
They're killing our people in New York, in California, in every state in the Union.
And because of his ridiculous, insane and very stupid policies, people are coming in and they're killing our citizens at a level that we've never seen.
We call it migrant crime.
I call it Biden migrant crime.
They're killing our citizens at a level that we've never seen before.
And you're reading it like these three incredible young girls over the last few days.
One of them, I just spoke to the mother, and he just had the funeral for this girl, 12 years old.
This is horrible what's taken place, what's happening in our country.
We're literally an uncivilized country now.
He doesn't want it to be, he just doesn't know.
He opened the borders, nobody's ever seen anything like it.
And we have to get a lot of these people out, and we have to get them out fast, because they're going to destroy our country.
Just take a look at where they're living.
They're living in luxury hotels, In New York City and other places, our veterans are on the street.
They're dying because he doesn't care about our veterans.
He doesn't care.
He doesn't like the military at all.
And he doesn't care about our veterans.
Nobody's been worse.
I had the highest approval rating for veterans taking care of the VA.
He has the worst.
He's gotten rid of all the things that I approved.
Choice that I got through Congress.
All of the different things.
We had by far the highest.
And now it's down in less than half because he's done all these great things that we did.
And I think he did it just because.
Thank you.
But he has killed so many people at our border by allowing all of these people to come in.
And it's a very sad day in America.
President Biden, you have the mic.
Every single thing he said is a lie.
Every single one.
For example, veterans are a hell of a lot better off since they passed the PACT Act.
One million of them now have insurance and their families have it.
their families have it because what happened, whether it was Asian Orange or burn pits, they're all being covered now.
And his group opposed that.
We're also in a situation where we have great respect for veterans.
My friend, my friend, I'm in Iraq, leaving one of the next one of those burn pits, came back with stage four glioblastoma.
I was recently in France for D-Day, and I spoke to all about those heroes that died.
I went to the World War II cemetery, World War I cemetery he refused to go to.
He was standing with his four-star general and he told me, he said, I don't want to go in there because they're a bunch of losers and suckers.
My son was not a loser, was not a sucker.
You're the sucker.
You're the loser.
President Trump?
First of all, that was a made-up quote.
Suckers and losers.
They made it up.
It was in a third-rate magazine that's failing, like many of these magazines.
He put it in commercial item.
We had 19 people that said I didn't say it.
And think of this.
Who would say I'm at a cemetery or I'm talking about our veterans?
Because nobody's taken better care.
I'm so glad this came up and he brought it up.
There's nobody that's taken better care of our soldiers than I have to think that I would infer generals and others say suckers and losers.
We have 19 people.
It was said by me.
It was made up by him.
Just like Russia, Russia, Russia was made up.
Just like the 51 intelligence agents are made up.
Just like the new thing with the 16 economists are talking.
It's the same thing.
51 intelligence agents said that the laptop was Russia disinformation.
It wasn't.
That came from his son, Hunter.
It wasn't Russia disinformation.
He made up the suckers and losers, so he should apologize to me right now.
Four-star general standing to your side who was on your staff who said you said it, period.
That's number one.
And number two, the idea, the idea that I have to apologize to you for anything along the line.
We've done more for veterans than any president has in American history.
American history.
And they now are in their family.
The only sacred obligation we have as a country is to care for our veterans when they come home and their families and equip them when they go to war.
That's what we're doing.
That's what the VA is doing now.
They're doing more for veterans than ever before in our history.
All right.
Thank you so much.
topic of foreign policy.
I want to begin with Russia's war against Ukraine, which is now-- You guys, breaking news right now.
The Trump war room account is actually being restricted right now on Twitter.
So this is pretty crazy.
As the debate is taking place, Twitter just restricted the Trump war room account.
And Ukraine abandons its bid to join NATO.
Are Putin's terms acceptable to you?
First of all, our veterans and our soldiers can't stand this guy.
They can't stand him.
They think he's the worst commander-in-chief, if that's what you call him, that we've ever had.
They can't stand him.
So let's get that straight.
And they like me more than just about any of them.
And that's based on every single bit of information.
As far as Russia and Ukraine, if we had a real president, the president that was respected by Putin, he would have never invaded Ukraine.
A lot of people are dead right now, much more than people know.
You know, they talk about numbers.
You can double those numbers, maybe triple those numbers.
He did nothing to stop it.
In fact, I think he encouraged Russia from going in.
I'll tell you what happened.
He was so bad with Afghanistan.
It was such a horrible embarrassment, most embarrassing moment in the history of our country that when Putin watched that and he saw the incompetence that he should he should have fired those generals like I fired the one that you mentioned.
And so he's got no love lost, but he should have fired those generals.
No general got fired for the most embarrassing moment in the history of our country, Afghanistan, where we left billions of beautiful soldiers and 38 soldiers were obliterated.
And by the way, we left people behind, too.
We left American citizens behind.
When Putin's go in and maybe take my this was his dream.
I talked to him about his dream.
The difference is he never would have invaded Ukraine.
Never.
Just like Israel would have never been invaded in a million years by Hamas.
You know why?
Because Iran was broke with me.
I wouldn't let anybody do business with them.
They ran out of money.
They were broke.
They had no money for Hamas.
They had no money for anything.
No money for terror.
That's why you had no terror at all during my administration.
This place, the whole world is blowing up under him.
President Biden?
Never heard so much malarkey in my whole life.
Look, the fact of the matter is that we're in a situation where... He's holding the lectern for dear life.
...attacked American troops, caused brain damage for a number of these troops, and he did nothing about it when he was president.
Here they attacked.
He said, they're just having headaches.
That's all it is.
He didn't do a thing when the attack took place, number one.
Number two, We got over 100,000 Americans and others out of Afghanistan during that airlift.
Number three, we found ourselves in a situation where, if you take a look at what Trump did in Ukraine, he's, this guy, do whatever you want.
Whatever you want.
And that's exactly what Trump did.
To Putin.
Encourage him.
Do whatever you want.
And he went in.
Listen to what he said when he went in.
He was going to take Kiev in five days, remember?
Because it's part of the old Soviet Union.
That's what he wanted to re-establish.
Kiev.
And he, in fact, wasn't able to get it done.
And they've lost thousands and thousands of troops.
500,000 troops.
I never said that.
No, they're not acceptable.
No, they're not acceptable.
This is a war that never should have started.
If we had a leader in this war, he led everybody along.
in Ukraine.
No, they're not acceptable.
This is a war that never should have started.
If we had a leader in this war, he led everybody along.
He's given $200 billion now or more to Ukraine.
He's given $200 billion.
That's a lot of money.
I don't think there's ever been anything like it.
Every time that Zelensky comes to this country, he walks away with $60 billion.
He's the greatest salesman ever.
And I'm not knocking him.
I'm not knocking anything.
I'm only saying the money that we're spending on this war And we shouldn't be spending.
It should have never happened.
I will have that war settled between Putin and Zelensky as president-elect before I take office on January 20th.
I'll have that war settled.
People being killed so needlessly, so stupidly, and I will get it settled and I'll get it settled fast before I take office.
The fact is that Putin is a war criminal.
He's killed thousands and thousands of people.
And he has made one thing clear.
He wants to re-establish what was part of the Soviet Empire, not just a peace.
He wants all of Ukraine.
That's what he wants.
And then do you think he'll stop there?
Do you think he'll stop if he takes Ukraine?
What do you think happens to Poland?
What do you think of Belarus?
What do you think happens to those NATO countries?
And so if you want a war, you ought to find out what he's going to do, because if in fact he does what he says and walks away... By the way, all that money we give Ukraine, the weapons we make here in the United States, we give them the weapons, not the money at this point.
And our NATO allies have produced as much as we have.
That's why we're strong.
Thank you.
Moving on to the Middle East.
In October, ISIS attacked Israel, killing more than a thousand people and taking hundreds of hostages.
Among those held and thought to still be alive are five Americans.
Israel's response has killed thousands of Palestinians and created a humanitarian crisis.
President Biden, you've put forward a proposal to resolve this conflict, but so far Hamas has not released the remaining hostages and Israel is continuing its military offensive in Gaza.
So what additional leverage will you use to get Hamas and Israel to end the war?
You have two minutes.
Number one, everyone from the United Nations Security Council straight through the G7 to the Israelis and Netanyahu himself have endorsed the plan I put forward.
Endorsed the plan I put forward.
The first stage is to train the hostages for a ceasefire.
Second phase is a ceasefire with additional conditions.
The third phase is, no, the end of the war.
The only one who wants to leave is Hamas, number one.
They're the only ones standing out.
We're still pushing hard to get them to accept.
In the meantime, we're trying to, the only thing I've denied Israel was 2,000 pound bombs.
They don't work very well in populated areas.
They kill a lot of innocent people.
We're providing Israel with all By the way, I'm against Iran when they had a full-blown intercontinental ballistic missile attack on Israel.
No one was hurt.
No Israeli... producer of support for Israel of anyone in the world.
What?
What?
Did he just say that he's the biggest supporter of Israel?
We continue to send our experts and our intelligence people to how they can get them out like we do.
And by the way, what you've got to do is finish.
Yeah, go refresh it.
We're gonna refresh the CNN feed.
There's just so many people watching it.
Why doesn't he call them?
It's going to be refreshed in a moment in case it's lagging.
... billions of dollars.
The secretary general of NATO said Trump did the most incredible job I've ever seen.
... spent almost a year... ... reason that he can play games with NATO is because I got them to put up hundreds of billions of dollars.
I said, and he's right about this, I said, no, I'm not going to support NATO if you don't pay.
They asked me that question.
Would you guard us against Russia at a very secret meeting of the 28... And I said, no, if you don't pay, I won't do that.
And you know what happened?
Billions and billions of dollars came flowing in the next day and the next month.
But now we're in the same position.
We're paying everybody's bills.
Let's turn to the issue of democracy.
Former President Trump, I want to ask you about January 6, 2021.
After you rallied your supporters that day, some of them stormed the Capitol to stop the constitutionally mandated counting of electoral votes.
As president, you swore an oath to, quote, preserve, protect and defend, unquote, the Constitution.
What do you say to voters who believe that you violated that oath through your actions and inaction on January 6th and worry that you'll do it again?
Well, I don't think too many believe that and let me tell you about January 6th.
On January 6th, we had a great border.
Nobody coming through.
Very few.
On January 6th, we were energy independent.
On January 6th, we had the lowest taxes ever.
We had the lowest regulations ever.
On January 6th, we were respected all over the world.
All over the world, we were respected.
And then he comes in, and we're now left at.
We're like a bunch of stupid people.
What happened to the United States' reputation under this man's leadership is horrible, including weaponization, which I'm sure at some point you'll be talking about, where he goes after his political opponent because he can't beat him fair and square.
You have 87 left.
My question was, what do you say to those voters who believe that you violated your constitutional oath through your actions in action on January 6, 2021, and worry that you'll do it again?
Well, I didn't say that to anybody.
I said peacefully and patriotically.
And Nancy Pelosi, if you just watched the news from two days ago, on tape to her daughter, who is a documentary filmmaker, they say, Is he falling asleep?
Holy shit!
It's my responsibility.
I was responsible for this because I offered her 10,000 soldiers or National Guard and she turned them down.
And the mayor of in writing, by the way, the mayor in writing turned it down.
The mayor of of D.C.
Is he falling asleep?
Holy shit.
Because he's falling asleep.
Really nothing to do.
They asked me to go make a speech.
I could see what was happening.
Everybody was saying they're going to be there on January 6th.
They're going to be there.
And I said, you know what?
There's a lot of people coming.
You could feel it.
You could feel it, too.
And you could feel it.
And I said, they ought to have some National Guard or whatever.
And I offered it to her.
And she now admits that she turned it down.
And it was the same day she was, I don't know, he can't be very happy with her daughter because it made her into a liar.
She said, I take full responsibility for January 6th.
Look, he encouraged those folks to go up on Capitol Hill, number one.
I sat in the dining room off the Oval Office.
He sat there for three days, being begged by his vice president and a number of his colleagues on the Republican side as well to do something, to call for a stop, to end it.
Instead, he talked about these people being patriots and great patrons of America.
In fact, he says he'll now forgive them for what they've done.
They've been convicted.
And say that, no, he went to every single court in the nation.
I don't know how many cases, scores of cases, including the Supreme Court.
And they said, they said, no, no, this guy, this guy is responsible for doing what is being, what was done.
He did do a damn thing.
And these people should be in jail.
And they should be the ones who are being held accountable.
Send me a screenshot of the current... And now he says that he loses it again.
Such a whiner that he is.
That he could be a bloodbath.
Thank you, President Biden.
President Trump?
What they've done to some people that are so innocent, you ought to be ashamed of yourself.
What you have done, how you've destroyed the lives of so many people.
When they ripped down Portland, when they ripped down many other cities.
You go to Minnesota, Minneapolis.
That's right, President Trump.
You stand up for those January 6thers.
If I didn't bring in the National Guard, that city would have been destroyed.
This is why I love President Trump!
When you look at all of the They took over big chunks of Seattle.
I was all set to bring in the National Guard.
They heard that.
They saw them coming and they left immediately.
What he said about this whole subject is so off.
Peacefully patriotic.
One other thing.
The unselect committee, which is basically two horrible Republicans that are all gone now and out of office, and Democrats, all Democrats, they destroyed and deleted all of the information they found because they found out we were right.
We were right.
And they deleted and destroyed all of the information.
They should go to jail for that.
If a Republican did that, they'd go to jail.
Thank you, President Trump.
President Biden, I want to give you a minute.
The only person on this stage who's a convicted felon is the man I'm looking at right now.
Wow!
The fact of the matter is, what he's telling you is simply not true.
The fact is that there was no effort on his part to stop what was going on up on Capitol Hill.
And all those people, every one of those who were convicted, deserves to be convicted.
The idea that they didn't kill somebody, just went in and broke down doors, broke the windows, occupied offices, turned over desks, Turn them over to statutes?
The idea that those people are patriots?
Come on.
When I asked him about the first two debates we had, the debates we had the first time around, I said, will you denounce the Proud Boys?
He said, no, I'll tell them to stand by.
The idea he's refusing, will you denounce these guys?
Will you denounce the people we're talking about now?
Will you denounce the people who attacked that Capitol?
What are you going to do?
I'm going to give you a minute, President Trump, for a follow-up question I have.
After a jury convicted you of 34 felonies last month, you said if re-elected you would, quote, have every right to go after, unquote, your political opponents.
You just talked about members of the Select Committee on January 6th going to jail.
Your main political opponent is standing on stage with you tonight.
Can you clarify exactly what it means about you feeling you have every right to go after your political opponents?
Well, I said my retribution is going to be success.
We're going to make this country successful again, because right now it's a failing nation.
My retribution is going to be success.
But when he talks about a convicted felon, his son is a convicted felon at a very high level.
His son is convicted, going to be convicted probably numerous other times.
He should have been convicted before, but his Justice Department let the statute of limitations lapse on the most important things.
But he could be a convicted felon as soon as he gets out of office.
Joe could be a convicted felon with all of the things that he's done.
He's done horrible things.
All of the death cause at the border, telling the Ukrainian people that we're going to want a billion dollars or you change the prosecutor.
Otherwise, you're not getting a billion dollars.
Have I ever said that?
That's quid pro quo.
That we're not going to do anything.
We're not going to give you a billion dollars unless you change your prosecutor.
Holy shit, man.
That's it.
His son is a convicted felon and he could be a convicted felon.
We have a system that was disgusting.
I did nothing wrong.
Thank you, President Trump.
President Biden, you have said, I'm coming right to you, sir.
You, well, you want to respond?
Go ahead.
I'll give you a minute to respond.
The idea that I did anything wrong relative to what you're talking about is outrageous.
It's simply a lie, number one.
Number two, the idea that you have a right to seek retribution against any American just because you're president is wrong.
It's simply wrong.
No president's ever spoken like that before.
No, President, in our history we've spoken like that before.
Number three, the crimes that you are still charged with, and think of all the civil penalties you have.
How many billions of dollars do you owe in civil penalties for molesting a woman in public, for doing a whole range of things, of having sex with a porn star on the night while your wife was pregnant?
I mean, what are you talking about?
You have the morals of an alley cat.
Do you have a minute, sir?
I didn't have sex with a porn star, number one.
Number two, that was a case that was started and moved.
They moved a high-ranking official, a DOJ, into the Manhattan DA's office to start that case.
That case is going to be appealed and won.
We had a very terrible judge, a horrible judge, Democrat.
The prosecutor were all high-ranking Democrats, appointed people, and both the civil And a criminal.
He basically went after his political opponent because he thought it was going to damage me.
But when the public found out about these cases, because they understand it better than he does.
He has no idea what these cases are.
But what he did when they found out about these cases, you know what they did?
My poll numbers went up way up.
You know that because you're reporting it.
And we took in more money in the last two weeks.
I didn't have sex with a porn star.
I don't think this is like this is this is a line.
Hundreds of millions of dollars.
Because the public knows it's a scam and it's a guy that's after his political opponent because you can't win fair and square.
Thank you, President Trump.
President Biden, you have said, quote, Donald Trump and his MAGA Republicans are determined to destroy American democracy.
Do you believe that the tens of millions of Americans who are likely to vote for President Trump will be voting against American democracy?
The more they know about what he's done, yes.
The more they know about what he's done.
And there's a lot more coming.
He's got a lot of cases down the road coming out.
He's got a whole range of issues he has to face.
I don't know what the juries will do, but I do know he has a real problem.
And so the fact that, could you ever think you'd hear any president say that I'm going to seek retribution?
You ever hear any president say that I thought Hitler had some good ideas?
What got me involved to run in the first place after my son had died, I decided in Iraq, because of Iraq, I said I wasn't going to run again.
until I saw torches and singing the same anti-Semitic bio they sang back in Germany.
And the young woman spoke to the mother, and they asked him, they said, what do you think of those people, the people who got killed, the one who tried to stop it, and the ones he said, I think.
Thank you.
He's a guy who says Hitler's done some good things.
To show the bingo card.
Good things Hitler's done, that's what he said.
This guy has no sense of American democracy.
We're refreshing the CNN feed again so that it stops glitching because this is the feed straight from CNN.
So it's not an issue on our end.
It's just, um, it's the CNN feed because we're streaming it directly into your mobile, so.
We're refreshing it right now.
But if you're playing along bingo, here's what the bingo card looks like.
He's not equipped to be president.
You know it and I know it.
It's ridiculous.
We have a debate.
We're trying to justify his presidency.
His presidency, he's...
Without question, the worst president, the worst presidency in the history of our country.
We shouldn't be having a debate about it.
There's nothing to debate.
He made up the Charlottesville story.
And you'll see it's debunked all over the place.
Every anchor, every reasonable anchor has debunked it.
And just the other day, it came out where it was fully debunked.
A nonsense story.
Charlottesville.
He used that as an excuse to run.
President Biden?
And debunk.
It happened.
All you have to do is listen to what was said at the time.
And the idea that somehow that's the only reason I ran.
I ran because I was worried a guy like this guy could get elected.
If he thought they were good people coming out of that forest, carrying those woods, carrying those torches, then he didn't deserve to be president.
Didn't deserve to be president at all.
And the idea that he's talking about all this being fabricated.
We saw with our own eyes.
We saw what happened on January 6th.
Shouts into Mike.
We saw the people breaking through the windows.
Woohoo!
We got a bingo!
There we go.
Alright, send me a screenshot of that.
Let's see, are they looking at each other?
this time.
His vice president hasn't endorsed him this time.
So why?
Why they know him?
There we go.
Thank you, President Biden.
We're going to be right.
Send me a screenshot of that.
CNN presidential debate.
Let's see.
Are they looking at each other?
No, they weren't even shake hands.
All right.
We're on a commercial break right now.
But if you're following along with the bingo card, here's where we are.
We have a bingo right now, actually, so let's get it up on the screen.
We've been covering all the bingos.
So all right, here we go.
So we got a bingo on the front row.
Scranton Joe brain freezes, whispers into Mike, shouts into Mike, saved by fake tapper.
And then you see all these others.
We almost have another one.
So we need Joe Biden to fall down, and we need him to claim that he drives an 18-wheeler, or to use the term cheap fake, or he needs to touch his nose and can't find his way off stage.
So we could get a last minute bingo when he's exiting the stage if he can't figure it out.
So there we go.
And, uh, look!
It's pretty, uh, pretty impressive right there.
So if you're following along, that's what we have.
We got a bingo.
So send that to me.
to me.
Let's post that right now.
We got some interesting mic drop moments.
So when Joe Biden called President Trump a convicted felon and said he was on stage with a convicted felon, President Trump said, well, you know, your son is a convicted felon and you could be a convicted felon by the time you get out of office.
So that's really a mic drop moment.
It really reminds me of the yeah, because you'd be in prison comment from President Trump from 2016.
Someone said, bingo, Biden is a loser.
Yeah, we got bingo.
So bingo, Trump won.
We got it.
But we got a lot of really funny.
President Biden has a cold?
No way.
Two sources familiar with the situation says President Biden has a cold.
is they're actually tweeting this out right now.
Breaking news.
They're saying Joe Biden has a cold.
So cold is just code word for Alzheimer's.
And amphetamine cotton mouth.
Everyone knows what happens when you take Alzheimer's.
Look, everybody knows what happens when you take too much Adderall or Xanax, okay?
We all know people who are on Xanax or Adderall.
Maybe some of you have taken Xanax or Adderall.
I don't know.
But, you know, when you take a lot of Xanax or you take a lot of Adderall or, you know, any type of stimulant, you get something called cotton mouth, okay?
I don't know if any of you have ever had cotton mouth.
You can get it from smoking a lot of weed, too, okay?
And I'm not speaking from personal experience.
I'm just saying that I have been told that if you do this... Sources say.
Sources say.
No, I'm serious.
I'm not a drug user.
But I've been told that people who use a lot of Adderall or people who even take a lot of Xanax or people who smoke a lot of weed They have this thing called cotton mouth where you feel like your mouth is really dry and you start like slurring your words and not able to really speak properly.
That's what's going on with Joe Biden.
I'm not saying that he smokes a lot of weed, but I wouldn't be surprised if they pumped him with a bunch of Adderall.
Really, a lot of medications have that side effect.
It's not even just stimulants, okay?
It's not just Adderall or Xanax.
But one of the most common side effects of a lot of medications, especially dementia medications, is a dry mouth.
Like, you feel like you have to constantly cough and you've got a dry mouth.
So, we're coming back to the debate now.
Let's talk about persistent challenges you both faced in your first terms and you'd certainly face again in a second term.
President Biden, while black unemployment dropped to a record low under your presidency, black families still far less than white families.
Black mothers are still three times more likely to die for pregnancy-related causes, and black Americans are imprisoned at five times the rate of white Americans.
What do you say to black voters who are disappointed that you haven't made more progress?
Technology made a lot of progress, number one.
The fact of the matter is there are more small black businesses that have been started than any time in history.
Number two, the wages of black, black unemployment is the lowest level it's been in a long, long time.
Number three, we're trying to provide housing for black Americans and dealing with the segregation that exists among these corporate, these corporate races that collude to keep up people out of their houses.
Oh my gosh, it's so awful.
In addition to that, we find that the impact of the choice that black families have to make relative to child care When we did the first major piece of legislation in the past, I was able to reduce black child care costs.
I cut them in half, in half.
We've got to make sure we provide for child care costs.
We've got to make sure because when you provide that child care protections, you increase economic growth because more people can be in the job market.
So there's more to be done, considerably more to be done.
But we've done a great deal so far and I'm not letting up and they know it.
You have 49 seconds left.
What do you say to black voters who are disappointed with the progress so far?
I say I don't blame them for being disappointed.
Inflation is still hurting them badly.
For example, I provided for the idea that any black family first-time homebuyer should get a $10,000 tax credit to be able to buy their first home so they can get started.
I made sure that we're in a situation where all those black families and those black individuals who provided had to take out student loans that were ballooning, that if they were engaged in nursing, and anything having to do with volunteerism, if they paid their bills for 10 years on their student debt, all the rest was forgiven after 10 years.
Minutes have benefited from that.
And we're going to do a whole lot more for black families.
Thank you.
President Trump?
And he caused the inflation.
He's blaming inflation.
And he's right.
It's been very bad.
He caused the inflation.
And it's killing black families and Hispanic families and just about everybody.
It's killing people.
They can't buy groceries anymore.
They can't.
You look at the cost of food.
They can't live.
They're not living anymore.
He caused this inflation.
I gave him a country with no, essentially no inflation.
It was perfect.
It was so good.
All he had to do is leave it alone.
He destroyed it with his Green News scam and all of the other, all this money that's being thrown out the window.
He caused inflation.
As sure as you're sitting there, the fact is that his big kill on the black people is the millions of people that he's allowed to come in through the border.
They're taking black jobs now, and it could be 18, it could be 19, and even 20 million people.
This is crazy.
They're taking black jobs, and they're taking Hispanic jobs, and you haven't seen it yet, but you're gonna see something that's gonna be the worst in our history.
Thank you.
President Biden?
There was no inflation.
You know why?
The economy was flat on its back.
15% unemployment.
He decimated the economy.
That's why there was no inflation at the time.
There were no jobs.
We provided thousands of millions of jobs for individuals who are involved communities, including minority communities.
We made sure that they have health insurance.
We have covered with the ACA has increased.
I made sure that they're $8,000 per person in the family to get written off in health care.
But this guy wants to eliminate that.
They tried 50 times.
He wants to get rid of the ACA again.
And they're going to try again if they win.
You find ourselves in a position where the idea that we're not doing it, I put more, we put more police on the street than any administration has.
He wants to cut the cops.
We're providing for equity, equity and making sure people have a shot to make it.
There's a lot going on, but inflation, he caused it by his tremendous malfeasance in the way he handled the pandemic.
Thank you.
Another persistent challenge is the climate crisis.
2023 is the hottest year in recorded history, and communities across the country are confronting the devastating effects of extreme heat, intensifying wildfires, stronger hurricanes, and rising sea levels.
Former President Trump, you've vowed to end your opponents' climate initiatives, but will you take any action as president to slow the climate crisis?
How close the police are to him.
Almost every police group in the nation, from every... Trump.
Almost every police group.
And what he's done to the black population is horrible, including the fact that for 10 years he called them super predators.
We can't, in the 1990s, we can't forget that.
Super Predators was his name, and he called it to them, and they've taken great offense at it, and now they see it happening.
But when they see what I did for criminal justice reform and for the historically black colleges and universities, where I funded them and got them all funded and the Opportunity Zones with with Tim, as you know, Tim Scott was incredible.
He did a great job.
Great senator from South Carolina.
He came to me with the idea and it was a great idea.
It's one of the most successful economic development acts ever in the country.
Opportunity Zones.
And the biggest beneficiary are blacks.
And that's why we have the best numbers with them in maybe ever.
They're saying ever.
I read this morning where ever the best numbers he's lost.
Because he's done a horrible job for black people.
He's also done a horrible job for Hispanics.
But when you see these millions of people pouring into our country and they're going to take the jobs and it's already started and you haven't seen anything yet.
It's a disaster.
Thirty-eight seconds left.
President Trump, will you take any action as president to slow the climate crisis?
So I want absolutely clean water and I want absolutely clean air.
And we had it.
We had H2O.
We had the best numbers ever.
And we did.
We were using all forms of energy.
All forms.
Everything.
And yet, during my four years, I had the best environmental numbers ever.
And my top environmental people gave me that statistic just before I walked on the stage, actually.
I don't know where the hell he's been.
The idea that he said is true.
I passed the most extensive, most extensive climate change legislation in history.
In history.
We find ourselves, and by the way, black colleges, I came up with $15 billion for HBCUs, Historic Black Universities and Colleges, because they don't have those.
They don't have the kind of contributors that they have to build these laboratories and the like.
Any black student is capable in college of doing what any white student can do.
They just have the money, but now they'll be able to get those jobs in high tech.
We're in a situation where the idea that he is claiming to have done something that had the cleanest water, the cleanest water, He hadn't done a damn thing with the environment.
He, out of the Paris Peace Accord, Climate Accord, I immediately joined it.
Because if we reheat to 1.5 degrees Celsius at any one point, there's no way back.
The only existential threat to humanity is climate change.
And he didn't do a damn thing about it.
He must undo all that I've done.
The Paris Accord was going to cost us a trillion dollars.
And China, nothing.
And Russia, nothing.
And India, nothing.
It was a ripoff of the United States.
And I ended it because I didn't want to waste that money because they treat us horribly.
We were the only ones.
It was costing us money.
Nobody else was paying into it.
And it was a disaster.
But everything that he said just now, I'll give you an example.
I heard him say before.
I'm the one that got the insulin down for the seniors.
I took care of the seniors.
What he's doing is destroying all of our medical programs because the migrants coming in, they want everybody.
And look, I have the biggest heart on the stage, I guarantee you that.
And I want to take care of people.
But we're destroying our country.
They're taking over our schools, our hospitals, and they're going to be taking over Social Security.
He is destroying it.
The idea is that we were the only ones of consequence who were not members of the Paris Accord.
How can we do anything?
The United States can't get this pollution under control.
We're one of the largest polluters in the world, number one.
We're making significant progress.
By 2035, we will have cut pollution in half.
We have made significant progress and we're continuing to make progress.
We set up a climate corps where thousands of young people will learn how to deal with climate, just like the Peace Corps.
We're moving in directions that are going to significantly change the elements of cause of pollution.
But the idea that he claims that he has the biggest heart up here and he's really concerned about pollution and about climate, I've not seen any indication of that.
And by the way, with regard to prescription drugs, one company reduced the price to $35, which I was calling for, voluntarily.
I made sure every company in the world, every pharmaceutical company, cannot have to pay me.
Thank you.
And by the way, So every day, millions of Americans struggle just to make ends meet.
For many older Americans, Social Security provides a critical lifeline.
President Biden, if nothing is done to Social Security, seniors will see their benefits cut in just over 10 years.
Will you name tonight one specific step that you're willing to take to keep Social Security solvent?
Yes, make the very wealthy pay their fair share.
Right now, everybody making under $170,000 pays 6% of their income, of their paycheck, every single time they get a paycheck from the time the first one they get when they're 18 years old.
The idea that they're going to... Everybody, they pay... The millionaires pay 1%, 1%.
So no one after... I've not raised the cost of Social Security for...
Thousand dollars.
After that, I began to make the wealthy to pay their fair share by increasing from 1% on to be able to program for life.
So you still have 82 seconds left.
Are there any other measures that you think that would be able to help keep Social Security solvent?
Or is just is that one enough?
Well, no, that one enough will keep it solvent.
But the biggest thing I'll do if we defeat this man, because he wants to get rid of Social Security.
He thinks there's plenty to cut in Social Security.
He's going to cut Social Security and Medicare both times.
The House Republican Caucus that he supports is in fact wanting to cut it as well.
The idea that we don't need to protect our seniors is ridiculous.
And by the way, the American public has greater health care coverage today than ever before.
And on the ACA, as I said, you're in a circumstance where 400,000 people, I mean 40 million people, would not have insurance because they have a preexisting condition.
Only thing that allows them to have that insurance is the fact that they, in fact, are part of the ACA.
And by the way, the other thing is, we're in a situation where I talk about education for black communities.
I've raised the number, the amount of money for Pell Grants, another $8,000.
Anybody making under $70,000 a year is going to be able to get $15,000 towards their tuition.
He just doesn't know what he's talking about.
Thank you President Biden.
President Trump?
So I've dealt with politicians all my life.
I've been on this side of the equation for the last eight years.
I've never seen anybody lie like this guy.
He lies.
I've never seen that he can look you in the face.
About so many other things too.
And we mentioned the laptop.
We mentioned Russia, Russia, Russia, Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine.
Everything he does is a lie.
It's misinformation and disinformation.
The losers and suckers story that he made up is a total lie on the military.
It's a disgrace.
But Social Security, he's destroying it because millions of people are pouring into our country and they're putting them onto Social Security.
They're putting them onto Medicare, Medicaid.
They're putting In the place of our citizens that they're doing.
Veterans are living in the street and these people are living in luxury hotels.
He doesn't know what he's doing and it's really coming back.
I've never seen such anger in our country.
President Biden.
The idea that veterans are not being taken care of, I told you before.
By the way, when I said suckers and losers, he said he acknowledged after that he fired that general.
That general fired because he's the one that acknowledged that that's what he said.
He was the one standing with Trump when he said it, number one.
Number two, that we're going to be in a situation where millions and millions, the way he talks about it, illegal aliens are coming into the country and taking away our jobs.
There's a reason why we have the fastest growing economy in the world, the reason why we have the most successful economy in the world.
We're doing better than any other nation in the world.
And by the way, those 15 Nobel laureates he talked about being phony, those 15 Nobel laureates, economists, they all said that if Trump is reelected, we're elected to have a recession and inflation is going to increase and go up.
And by the way, worst president in history, 159 presidential scholars voted him the worst president in the history of the United States of America.
President Biden, thank you so much.
Let's turn to the cost of child care, which many American families struggle to afford.
President Trump, both you and President Biden have tried to address this issue, but the average cost of child care in this country has risen to more than $11,000 a year per child.
For many families, the cost of child care for two children is more than their rent.
In your second term, what would you do to make child care more affordable?
Just to go back, the general got fired because he was no good.
And if he said that, that's why he made it up.
But we have 19 people that said I didn't say it, and they're very highly respected, much more so than him.
The other thing is, he doesn't fire people.
He never fired people.
I've never seen him fire anybody.
I did fire a lot.
I fired Comey because he was no good.
I fired a lot of the top people at the FBI, drained the swamp.
They were no good.
Not easy to fire people.
You pay a price for it.
But they were no good.
I inherited these people.
I didn't put him there.
I didn't put Comey there.
He was no good.
I fired him.
This guy hasn't fired anybody.
He never fires.
He should have fired every military man that was involved with that Afghan, the Afghanistan horror show, the most embarrassing moment in the history of our country.
He didn't fire.
Did you fire anybody?
Did you fire anybody that's on the border, that's allowed us to have the worst border in the history of the world?
Did anybody get fired for allowing 18 million people, many from prisons, many from mental institutions?
Did you fire anybody that allowed our country to be destroyed?
Joe, our country is being destroyed as you and I sit up here and waste a lot of time on this debate.
This shouldn't be a debate.
He is the worst president.
He just said it about me because I said it.
But look, he's the worst president in the history of our country.
He's destroyed our country.
Now, all of a sudden, he's trying to get a little tough on the border.
He came out with a I don't think we just can't let it happen.
If he wins this election, our country doesn't have a chance.
It's insignificant.
He wants open borders.
He wants our country to either be destroyed or he wants to pick up those people as voters.
And I don't think we just can't let it happen.
If he wins this election, our country doesn't have a chance, not even a chance of coming out of this rut.
We probably won't have a country left anymore.
That's how bad it is.
He's the worst in history by far.
Thank you, President Trump.
President Biden?
We're the most admired country in the world.
We're the United States of America.
There's nothing beyond our capacity.
We have the finest military in the history of the world.
The finest in the history of the world.
No one thinks we're weak.
No one wants to screw around with us.
Nobody.
Number one.
Number two, the idea that we're talking about worst presidents.
I wasn't joking.
Look it up or go online.
159 or 158, don't hold me to the exact number, presidential historians.
They've had meetings and they voted.
Who's the worst president in American history?
Best to worst.
They said he was the worst in all of American history.
That's a fact.
That's not conjecture.
You can argue they're wrong, but that's what they voted.
The idea that he is doing anything to deal with child care.
He did virtually nothing to childcare.
We should significantly increase the childcare tax credit.
We should significantly increase the availability of women and men, of single parents, to be able to go back to work.
And we should encourage businesses to hold, to have... Thank you, President Biden.
President Trump, the question was about what would you do to make childcare more affordable, if you want to take your minute.
Yes, you understand.
We have polling.
We have other things that they rate him the worst because what he's done is so bad.
And they rate me.
I'll show you.
I will show you.
And they rate me one of the best.
OK.
And if I'm given another four years, I will be the best.
I think I'll be the best.
Nobody's ever He created an economy like us.
Nobody ever cut taxes like us.
He's the only one I know.
He wants to raise your taxes by four times.
He wants to raise everybody's taxes by four times.
He wants the Trump tax cuts to expire.
So everybody, including the two of you, are going to pay four to five times.
Nobody ever heard of this before.
All my life, I'd grow up and I'd see politicians talking about cutting taxes.
When we cut taxes, as I said, we did more business.
Apple and all these companies, they were bringing money back into our country.
The worst president in history by far, and everybody knows it.
President Biden?
Look, the fact of the matter is that he's dead wrong about, he's increased the tariff, he's increased, he will increase the taxes on middle class people.
I said I'd never raise a tax on anybody making less than $400,000.
I didn't.
But this tariff, this 10% tariff, everything coming into the country, you know what the economists say?
That's going to cost the average American $2,500 a year more because they're going to have to pay the difference in food and all the things that are very important.
Number two, he's in a situation where he talks about how he has not raised he somehow helped the middle class.
The middle class has been devastated by you.
Middle class have been devastated by you.
Now you want a new tax cut of $5 trillion over the next 10 years, which is going to fundamentally bankrupt the country.
Now you want a new tax cut of $5 trillion over the next 10 years, which is going to fundamentally bankrupt the country.
You have the largest deficit of any president in American history, number one.
You have the largest deficit of any president in American history, number one.
Number two, you have not, in fact, made any contact, any progress with China.
We are the lowest trade deficit with China since 2010.
Thank you, President Biden.
Thank you, President Biden.
Let's discuss an epidemic impacting millions of Americans that both of you have made a top priority in your first term, the opioid crisis.
And for both of you, the number of overdose deaths in this country has gone up.
Under your term, it went up.
Under your term, it has gone up.
Former President Trump, despite the efforts that both of you have made, more than 100,000 Americans are dying from overdoses every year, primarily from fentanyl and other opioids.
What will you do to help Americans right now in the throes of addiction who are struggling to get the treatment they need?
To finish up...
We now have the largest deficit in the history of our country under this guy.
We have the largest deficit with China.
He gets paid by China.
He's a Manchurian candidate.
He gets money from China.
So I think he's afraid to deal with them or something.
But do you notice he never took out my tariffs because we bring in so much money with the tariffs that I imposed on China.
He never took them away.
He can't because it's too much money.
It's tremendous.
And we saved our steel industries and there was more to come.
But he hasn't done that.
But he hasn't cut the tariffs because he can't, because it's too much money.
But he's got the largest deficit in the history of our country, and he's got the worst situation with China.
China's going to own us if you keep allowing them to do what they're doing to us as a country.
They are killing us as a country, Joe, and you can't let that happen.
You're destroying our country.
So, President Trump, you have 67 seconds left.
The question was, what are you going to do to help Americans in the throes of addiction right now who are struggling to get the treatment they need?
Jake, we were doing very well at addiction until the COVID came along.
The two and a half, almost three years, like nobody's ever had before, any country, in every way.
And then we had to get tough.
And it was the drugs pouring across the border were, It started to increase.
We got great equipment.
We bought the certain dog that's the most incredible thing that you've ever seen, the way they can spot it.
We did a lot.
And we had, we were getting very low numbers, very, very low numbers.
Then he came along.
The numbers, have you seen the numbers now?
It's not only the 18 million people that I believe is even low because they, the gotaways, they don't even talk about gotaways.
But the numbers of the amount of drugs and human trafficking in women.
Coming across our border.
The worst thing I've ever seen.
At numbers that nobody's ever seen under him because the border is so bad.
But the number of drugs coming across our border now is the largest we've ever had by far.
Fentanyl and bi-partisan fentanyl went down for a while.
And I wanted to make sure we use the machinery that can detect fentanyl.
These big machines that roll over everything that comes across the border.
And it cost a lot of money.
That was part of this deal we put together.
This bi-partisan deal.
More fentanyl machines, more being able to detect drugs, more numbers of agents, more numbers of all the people at the border.
And when we had that deal done, he called his Republican colleagues and said, don't do it.
It's going to hurt me politically.
He never argued it's not a good bill.
It's a really good bill.
We need those machines.
We need those machines.
And we're coming down very hard in every country in Asia in terms of precursors for fentanyl.
And Mexico is working with us to make sure they don't have the technology to be able to put it together.
That's what we have to do.
We need those machines.
Thank you, President Biden.
President Trump, and again, the question is about Americans in the throes of addiction right now, struggling to get the treatment they need.
This, because this does pertain to it.
He ended remain in Mexico.
He ended catch-and-release.
I made a catch-and-release in Mexico, not catch-and-release here.
We had so many things that we had done.
Hard negotiations with Mexico, and I got it all for nothing.
It's just like when you have a hostage.
We always pay $6 billion for a hostage.
Every time we say it's a hostage.
Now we have a hostage, a Wall Street Journal reporter.
I think a good guy.
And he's over there because Putin is laughing at this guy, probably asking for billions of dollars for the reporter.
I will have him out very quickly.
As soon as I take office, before I take office, I said by literally as soon as I win the election, I will have that reporter out.
He should have had him out a long time ago.
But Putin's probably asking for billions and billions of dollars because this guy pays it every time.
We had two cases.
We paid six billion dollars for five people.
I got 58 people out and I paid essentially nothing.
Thank you, President Trump.
Dana, let's turn to concerns that voters have about each of you.
President Biden, you would be 86 at the end of your second term.
How do you address concerns about your capability to handle the toughest job in the world well into your 80s?
Well, first of all, I spent half my career being criticized being the youngest person in politics.
I was the second youngest person ever elected to the United States Senate, and now I'm the oldest.
This guy's three years younger and a lot less competent.
I think that just look at the record.
Look at what I've done.
Look how I've turned around the horrible situation he left me.
As I said, 15 million new jobs, 800,000 manufacturing jobs, more investment in America, over millions, billions of dollars in private investment in enterprises that we are growing.
We, by the way, we brought off a lot of people, the whole idea of computer chips.
We used to have 40% of the market.
We invented those chips and we lost it because he was sending people to find the cheapest jobs overseas and to bring home a product.
So I went to South Korea.
I convinced Samsung to invest billions of dollars here in the United States.
And guess what?
Those fabs they call to build these ships, those fabs pay over $100,000.
You don't need a college degree for them.
And there's billions, about $40 billion already being invested and being built right now in the United States, creating significant jobs for Americans from all over the world.
President Biden, you have 40 seconds left.
Would you like to add anything?
Yeah, I would.
The idea that somehow we are this failing country, We're the envy of the world.
Maybe a single major country president wouldn't trade places with the United States of America for all our problems and all our opportunities.
We're the most progressive country in the world in getting things done.
We're the strongest country in the world.
We're a country in the world who keeps our word and everybody trusts us, all of our allies and those who he coddles up to from Kim Jong-un, who he sends love letters to and Putin, etc.
They don't want to screw around with us.
Thank you.
Former President Trump, to follow up, you would be 82 at the end of your second term.
What do you say to voters who have concerns about your capabilities to serve?
Well, I took two tests, cognitive tests.
I aced them, both of them, as you know.
We made it public.
He took none.
I'd like to see him take one, just one, a real easy one, like go through the first five questions.
He couldn't do it.
But I took two cognitive tests.
I took physical exams every year.
And, you know, we knock on wood, wherever we may have wood, that I'm in very good health.
I just won two club championships, not even senior.
Two regular club championships.
To do that, you have to be quite smart, and you have to be able to hit the ball a long way.
And I do it.
He doesn't do it.
He can't hit a ball 50 yards.
He challenged me to a golf match.
He can't hit a ball 50 yards.
I think I'm in very good shape.
I feel that I'm as in good a shape as I was 25, 30 years ago.
Actually, I'm probably a little bit lighter.
But I'm in as good a shape as I was years ago.
I feel very good.
I feel the same.
But I took I was willing to take a cognitive test.
And you know what?
If I didn't do well, I aced him.
Dr. Ronny Jackson, who's a great guy when he was White House doctor.
And then I took another one, a similar one.
And both one of them said they've never seen anybody ace him.
Thank you, President Biden.
You can see he is 6'5 and only 235 lbs.
Just take a look at what he says he is and take a look at what he is.
Look, I'd be happy to have a driving contest with him.
I got my handicap when I was Vice President down to a 6.
He looks like he's on drugs.
By the way, I told you before I'm happy to play golf if you carry your own bag.
You think you can do it?
That's the biggest lie, that he's a six handicapped of all.
I was an eight handicapped.
Yeah.
Eight?
I've seen you swing, I know you swing.
Let's not act like children.
Let's not act like children.
To a specific concern that voters have about you.
Will you pledge tonight that once all legal challenges have been exhausted, that you will accept the results of this election regardless of who wins, and you will say right now that political violence in any form is unacceptable?
Well, I shouldn't have to say that, but of course I believe that.
It's totally unacceptable.
And if you would see my statements that I made on Twitter at the time, and also my statement that I made in the Rose Garden, you would say it's one of the strongest statements you've ever seen.
In addition to the speech I made in front of, I believe, the largest crowd I've ever spoken to.
And I will tell you, nobody ever talks about that.
They talk about a relatively small number of people that went to the Capitol.
And in many cases were ushered in by the police.
And as Nancy Pelosi said, it was her responsibility, not mine.
She said that loud and clear.
But the answer is if the election is fair, free.
And I want that more than anybody.
And I'll tell you something.
I wish he was a great president because I wouldn't be here right now.
I'd be at one of my many places enjoying myself.
I wouldn't be under indictment because I wouldn't have been his political opponent, you know, opponent, because he indicted me because I was his opponent.
I wish he was a great president.
I would rather have that.
I wouldn't be here.
I don't mind being here.
But the only reason I'm here is he's so bad as a president.
Then I'm going to make America great again.
We're going to make America great again.
We're a failing nation right now.
We're a seriously failing nation.
And we're a failing nation because of him.
His policies are so bad.
His military policies are insane.
They're insane.
These are wars that will never end with him.
He will drive us into World War III.
And we're closer to World War III than anybody can imagine.
We are very, very close to World War III.
And he's driving us there.
And Kim Jong-un and President Xi of China, Kim Jong-un of North Korea, all of these are Putin.
They don't respect him.
They don't fear him.
They have nothing going with this gentleman.
And he's going to drive us into World War III.
You want a World War 3?
Let him follow and win and let Putin say, do what you want, NATO.
Just do what you want.
There's a thing called Article 5.
An attack on one is an attack on all.
A required response.
The idea, the idea.
I can't think of a single major leader in the world who wouldn't trade places with the job I've done and what they've done.
Because we are a powerful nation.
We have wonderful peace.
Because of the people.
Not me.
It's because of the American people.
They're capable of anything.
And they step up when they're needed.
And right now, we're needed.
We're needed to protect the world because our own safety is at stake.
And again, if you want to have a war, just let Putin go ahead and take Kiev.
Make sure they move on.
See what happens in Poland, Hungary, and other places along that border.
Then you have a war.
President Trump, as I come back to you for a follow-up, the question was, will you accept the results of this election, regardless of who wins?
Just to finish what he said, if I might.
Russia, they took a lot of land from Bush.
They took a lot of land from Obama and Biden.
They took no land, nothing, from Trump.
Nothing.
He knew not to do it.
You're not going to play games with me.
He knew that.
I got along with him very well, but he knew not to play games.
He took nothing from me.
But now he's going to take the whole thing from this man right here.
That's a war that should have never started.
It would have never started, ever, with me.
And he's going to take Ukraine.
And, you know, you asked me a question before, would you do this with — he's got us in such a bad position right now with Ukraine and Russia.
Because Ukraine's not winning that war.
He said, I will never settle until such time.
They're running out of people.
They're running out of soldiers.
They've lost so many people.
It's so sad.
They've lost so many people.
And they've lost those gorgeous cities with the golden domes that are 1,000 years old, all because of him and stupid decisions.
Russia would have never attacked if I were president.
President Trump, the question was, will you accept the results of the election, regardless of who wins?
Yes or no, please.
If it's a fair and legal and good election, absolutely.
I would have much rather accepted these, but the fraud and everything else was ridiculous.
And if you want, we'll have a news conference on it in a week.
Or we'll have another one of these in a week.
But I will absolutely, there's nothing I'd rather do.
It would be much easier for me to do that.
Then I'm running again.
I wasn't really going to run until I saw the horrible job he did.
He's destroying our country.
I would be very happy to be someplace else, in a nice location someplace.
And again, no indictments, no political opponent stuff, because it's the only way he thinks he can win.
But unfortunately, it's driven up my numbers and driven them up to a very high level, because the people understand it.
Let's see what your numbers are when this election is over.
Let's see.
You're a whiner.
When you lost the first time, you continued, you appealed and appealed to courts all across the country.
Not one single court in America said any of your claims had any merit, state or local, none.
But you continue to provoke this lie about somehow there's all this misrepresentation, all this stealing.
There is no evidence of that at all.
And I tell you what, I doubt whether you'll accept it because you're such a whiner.
The idea, if you lose again, you accept it anyway, you can't stand the loss.
Something snapped in you when you lost the last time.
We'll be right back with more from the CNN presidential debate live from Georgia.
So I'm looking at all the different responses on Twitter right now.
And the Border Patrol Union just tweeted, to be clear, we never have and never will endorse Joe Biden.
uh - Yeah.
The Border Patrol is literally fact-checking him in real time.
You have New York Times columnist and ultra-Democrat Nicholas Kristof who, you know, is a big-time Obama, big-time Biden person, saying, I wish Biden would reflect on this debate performance and then announce his decision to withdraw from the race, throwing the choice of the Democrat nominee to the convention.
Just like I've been telling you guys for months, have I not, have I not, have I not been telling you that this was going to happen?
That the rules of the DMC and the convention were going to allow the DMC to bypass the primary process and install the person that they want as their candidate at the convention in August.
Why do you think they haven't announced for Joe Biden to be on the ballot in Ohio?
This is the reason why.
I'm telling you right now.
You know who's sitting up in that spin room tonight at the debate in Atlanta, Georgia?
Gavin Newsom.
Or as President Trump likes to call him, Gavin Newscom.
Newscom.
He always has the best nicknames for everybody.
Gavin Newsom is in the spin room tonight.
And you know why Gavin Newsom is in the spin room tonight?
It's because They're gonna draft him.
They've been preparing Gavin for this moment for a while now, okay?
And that's why they had Gavin Newsom at the GOP debates, if you recall.
Trump didn't go to those GOP debates, excuse me, but I feel like I'm starting to slur my words like Joe Biden now.
I need to drink some water because I've been talking non-stop all night.
They had Gavin Newsom at those GOP debates for a reason, okay?
They had him at those debates because they wanted him to observe all of the Republican candidates just in case, right?
Just in case Donald Trump was somehow thrown in jail or somehow didn't become the nominee.
Who knows?
They had Gavin Newsom there talking to Sean Hannity.
Remember they had Gavin Newsom debate Ron DeSantis when everybody thought, well, I didn't think so, but all the rhinos in DC thought, That Ron DeSantis was going to be the nominee.
Okay.
It's happening.
It's going to happen.
You're going to see tomorrow, there's going to be editorials.
You're going to see the Wall Street Journal.
I guarantee you, you're going to see the New York Times, the op-ed, Joe Biden needs to step down or for the sake of the election, you know, Joe Biden needs to step aside.
And then you're going to see the White House come around and maybe announce that Joe Biden has Alzheimer's or You know, he's got some kind of health issue.
They're going to try to make it a sob story and say, oh, you know, look at everybody making fun of Joe Biden.
And then Gavin Newsom's going to say, well, I didn't technically lie when I said that I wasn't going to run for president because I was installed.
There's a big difference between running for president and then being installed as the candidate.
So pay attention, pay attention to the semantics, because the entire Democrat candidate nomination process at their convention is basically right now a game of semantics.
They know that they can say, well, we weren't lying to you when we said that we weren't going to run for president.
We were installed because the DNC rules allow for any candidate to be installed as the nominee if the executive leadership of the DNC agrees upon any candidate.
It doesn't matter who it is.
So we're coming back to the debate now, but I want you all to take this very seriously because it's going to happen.
We've been talking about this for months on Loomer Unleashed.
Predetermined by a coin toss, we're going to begin with you, President Biden.
You have two minutes.
We've made significant progress from the debacle that was left by President Trump in his last term.
We find ourselves in a situation where, Number one, we have to make sure that we have a fair tax system.
I ask anyone out there in the audience, or anyone out watching this debate, do you think the tax system is fair?
The fact is that, I said, nobody making under $400,000 had a single penny increase in their taxes, and will not.
And if I'm re-elected, that will be the case again.
But, this guy has increased your taxes because of the deficit.
Number one, he's increased inflation because of the debacle he left after the way he handled the pandemic.
And he finds himself in a position where he now wants to tax you more.
Everything comes in the United States of America.
They did when, for example, he wants to get rid of the ability of Medicare, for the ability for us to be able to negotiate drug prices with the big pharma companies.
Well, guess what?
We got it down to $35 for insulin instead of $400.
No more than $2,000 for every senior, no matter how much prescription they need.
You know what that did?
That reduced the federal debt by $160 billion over 10 years because the government doesn't have to pay the exorbitant prices.
I'm going to make that available to every senior all along.
It's happening now.
Thank you, President Biden.
He wants to get rid of that.
We have I'm going to make sure that we have child care.
We're going to significantly increase the credit people have for child care.
I'm going to make sure we do something about what we're doing on lead pipes and all the things that are causing health problems for people across the country.
We're going to continue to fight to bring down inflation and give people a break.
Thank you, President Biden.
President Trump, you now have two minutes for your closing statement.
Like so many politicians, this man is just a complainer.
He said, we want to do this, we want to do that, we want to get rid of this tax, that tax.
But he doesn't do anything.
All he does is make our country unsafe by allowing millions and millions of people to pour in.
We didn't stop Israel.
It was such a horrible thing that would have never happened.
It should have never happened.
Iran was broke.
Anybody that did business with Iran, including China, they couldn't do business with the United States.
They all passed.
Iran was broke.
They had no money for Hamas or Hezbollah, for terror, no money whatsoever.
Again, Ukraine should have never happened.
He talks about all this stuff, but he didn't do it.
For three and a half years we're living in hell.
We have the Palestinians and we have everybody else rioting all over the place.
You talk about Charlottesville.
This is a hundred times Charlottesville.
A thousand times Charlottesville.
The whole country is exploding because of you.
Because they don't respect you.
And they have to respect their president.
And they don't respect you throughout the world.
What we did was incredible.
We rebuilt the military.
We got the largest tax cut in history, the largest regulation cut in history.
The reason he's got jobs is because I cut the regulations that gave jobs.
But he's putting a lot of those regulations back on.
All of the things that we've done, nobody's ever seen anything like that.
Even from a medical standpoint, right to try.
Well, we can try space age materials instead of going to Asia or going to Europe and trying to get when you're terminally ill.
Now you can go and you can get something.
You sign a document.
They've been trying to get it for 42 years.
But you know what we did for the military was incredible choice for our soldiers, where our soldiers Instead of waiting for three months to see a doctor, can go out and get themselves fixed up and readied up and take care of themselves and they're living the highest approval rating in the history of the VA.
So all of these things, we're not failing anymore.
We're going to make it great again.
Thank you, former President Trump, President Biden.
Stay with us because we have full analysis of this debate.
Anderson Cooper and Erin Burnett starts now on CNN.
All right, it's over.
Wait, I want to see the Democrats' reactions, though.
I want to see them try to explain this.
So are they going to shake hands?
Are they?
I want to see.
No?
Are they?
Let me see.
No.
Let me see.
Oh my god, Jill Biden came out.
Oh my god!
Jill Biden had to come out!
Let me see.
The first lady has come out, former President Trump, walking off the stage.
Oh, my God.
The first debate of the 2024 campaign.
Oh, my God.
Jill Biden had to come out.
Holy shit.
Can't find his way off stage.
Another bingo.
We got another bingo.
Oh my god.
This is not real life.
They are seriously cutting away from the fact that Jill Biden just had to walk on stage to let him off.
Holy shit!
up to David Axelrod and CNN correspondent John King.
John, let me start with you.
Your thoughts.
Anderson, this was a game-changing debate in the sense that right now, as we see, there's a deep, a wide, and a very aggressive panic in the Democratic Party.
Holy shit.
It started minutes into the debate, and it continues right now.
Oh, my God.
It involves party strategists.
It involves elected officials.
It involves fundraisers.
And they're having conversations about the president's performance, which they think was dismal, which they think will hurt other people down the party in the ticket.
And they're having conversations about what they should do about it.
Some of those conversations include, should we go to the White House and ask the President to step aside?
Others are, other of the conversations are about, should prominent Democrats go public?
With that call.
Because they feel this debate was so terrible.
They do say, in moments in the debate later, the president got better and got his footing, but then at the end even his closing statement was a little halting.
The contrast between the two candidates.
Let me be clear.
None of them, and a lot of Republicans, Don't think Donald Trump had a great night.
Donald Trump broke the fact check machine more than I can count tonight.
That will be on the record as we go forward.
He refused to answer some very specific and direct questions about his conduct, about January 6th and what all.
So that will be dealt with out there.
And sometimes there's a parallel universe between the political elites and the American people.
Be nice to see what the voters say.
But I can tell you, it started minutes in.
It started with the first couple of answers.
And it has continued throughout the night from a, oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, to what do we do about this?
And it involves very senior people in the Democratic Party, including elected officials, saying, we have a problem.
And just to co-sign what John is saying, I mean, the panic that I am hearing from Democrats is not like anything that I have heard in this campaign so far.
And a lot of it has to do with, first of all, there was a deep frustration about Trump's lies.
I mean, he lied a lot tonight.
But the problem for Biden was that Trump was able to take Wow.
sometimes incredible falsehoods and turn them into some kind of argument, whereas Biden's answers were in a lot of cases not coherent, deeply problematic, that he was not able to take straightforward answers that he was not able to take straightforward answers and answer them to the American public.
And then also at some points bringing things up that teed up Trump attacks.
So there is a real concern here tonight that there's been some real damage done that cannot be undone.
Biden solidified the perception among voters, but especially among his base.
They were hoping that tonight would be a game changer.
They are now seeing a president who is in the White House who they do not necessarily believe can do this for another four years.
Look, I can't argue with either of them about how Democratic leaders are reacting to this poll.
We said at the beginning that each person had a fundamental goal, and for Biden that goal was to appear energetic, engaged, and look like someone who is capable of serving for another four years for president.
That was job number one.
I actually think He scored a bunch of points.
I think if you just judge this on sort of policy stuff, he did score a bunch of points on issues like abortion, for example, on some of the economic issues.
But there is a feeling, I think there was a sense of shock, actually, at how he came out at the beginning of this debate, how his voice Uh, you know, he seemed a little disoriented.
He did get stronger as the debate went on, but by that time, I think the panic had set in, and I think you're going to hear discussions that I don't know will lead to anything, but, you know.
There are going to be discussions about whether he should continue.
And I think part of it is Donald Trump did not meet his mission either.
He could not resist the temptation to be nasty, to prevaricate about a whole bunch of things, about his own record, about Biden's record, and to seem petty and small at times.
Can we change the channel to MSNBC?
Hold on.
Whoa.
who may not be able to take advantage of it.
Listen, if anybody in America thinks that that was even close to being an okay debate by Joe Biden, I'm living in a parallel universe.
That was an unbelievable thing.
- It was an unmitigated disaster for President Biden - Holy shit! - from the second he walked out - Oh my God! - to the closing statement.
The biggest issue for Democrats is abortion.
And he couldn't give an answer.
He gave an answer, a three, he couldn't even give a coherent answer on the biggest issue for Democrats tonight.
I've heard from leading Democrats across the United States, elected governors, congressmen, who are texting me and saying, "I'm worried I'm gonna lose if Joe Biden's at the top of the ticket." Bob Casey, I promise you tonight in the state of Pennsylvania, is thrown up in his mouth because he knows that if he's got to stand next to Joe Biden, he's going down in Pennsylvania.
If he's on the ticket, I don't know how it's going to work.
Yeah, look, it was a really disappointing debate performance from Joe Biden.
I don't think there's any other way to slice it.
His biggest issue that he had to prove to the American people was that he had the energy, he had the stamina, and he didn't do that.
And so I think that is of concern, and I think for a lot of Democrats that's very disappointing.
I will say, Donald Trump also had some really rough moments in this debate.
And, you know, talking to the Biden campaign, they say, you know, their dials started really moving away from Trump as he was increasing his personal attacks on Biden.
So I think there was a lot about his kind of character and the...
All right, we are going to cut to MSDNC now as well.
So you just got to see CNN having their meltdown, and we are now going to spend our post-debate coverage time together.
We have a double bingo, so congratulations if you were following along with the Trump campaign bingo card tonight.
We have a double bingo.
Very exciting.
Very exciting.
We would have had a triple if Joe Biden fell down, but maybe next time.
Or maybe there won't be a next time because he's probably going to go to hospice and be replaced as the nominee.
Wish I could feel sorry for him.
Maybe if he wasn't such a lying piece of shit.
But we are going to be turning over to MSDNC right now so that you can see their freakout because it's just so much fun, you know?
It is so much fun watching all these Democrats cry and freak out.
Oh my god, all my friends are texting me!
Oh my god, the Democrats are telling me that Joe Biden's gonna have to step down!
Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!
I mean, it's just great.
The panic is setting in.
The panic is setting in because they all know that they decided to literally steal an election and put an Alzheimer's patient in the White House and America has woken up.
Let's go.
OK, we got Rachel Maddow.
Let's hear her mouth down.
Let's go.
In a matter of moments.
Lawrence, I also want to get your response.
I think one of the interesting things that Alex said there was that some of the poor coherence and poor answers from Donald Trump are being viewed as standard Trump and therefore not newsworthy, while the performance from President Biden is being viewed as newsworthy because it came in below expectations.
Yeah, in any sort of normal universe, you would think the candidate... I didn't have sex with a porn star.
Was the loser of that debate.
That would be the normal scorecard.
...concentrating on is optics, that thing we call optics, and in this case also audio because of the aging voice of Joe Biden.
But the question is that we don't know the answer to this.
I mean, my God, he and Trump are practically the same age.
...thinking they're for Biden or they're for Trump or thinking whatever they were thinking. What in this debate of substance that was true, if anything, moved their vote?
So if you really wanted to look at it in terms of what is it supposed to be, it's supposed to be an illuminating forum in which you learn something about a candidate that you didn't know before that is true.
Not that you learn a lie from the candidate.
That's not what the objective is.
But given that the optics is the way the game is played, what we don't yet know, and we'll know in polling a week from now or so, is what was the effect of all of this?
What was the effect of the guy who said, you know, I did not have sex with the porn star?
What was the effect of the convicted criminal candidate pointing to the other candidate and calling him a criminal?
What is the effect of all of that back and forth?
And I think we're guessing about what the effect is of the realization that Joe Biden is actually as old as his birth certificate says he is.
His voice is that old, too, but he's 10 years younger than Warren Buffett.
And both of them have a job.
Decisions and what was not shown to me in a way that was true Has made bad decisions in the presidency.
I don't see the set of bad decisions, and what was done in the Biden presidency was certainly underdeveloped in a debate where you never heard the word infrastructure, for example.
Like, it was underdeveloped as this went on, and that has a lot to do with the nature of the rules of these debates.
I think what you just put your finger on, to me, is sort of the whole issue around where we find ourselves.
The job of the president is making decisions.
The job of a president is to communicate.
It just is.
That's the job.
It's a communications job.
It is talking to people and communicating them, persuading them, trying to get people who don't agree with you.
And I think Joe Biden is a very good record on the core communicator right now.
And the ability to communicate.
I mean, I see this all the time.
We will cover things on our show all the time.
This big OPEC oil trade they did, you know, where they bought high, they bought oil very cheap and then they sold very high.
Take a screenshot of that.
Not an ideal story.
That's awesome.
That's cool.
The Biden aide.
Take a screenshot of that right now.
Joe Biden should be the person communicating that.
Joe Biden is not good at communicating his own record.
And in the context of a campaign right now, his job, number one, is communicating.
Oh my god, I'm having so much fun tonight.
So that, you know, and I don't disagree with you.
I mean, I think you're right about the decision making.
But I think the reason that there is all this, you know, anxiety and all this stuff is because ultimately, and particularly in the television age, a lot of the presidency is communicating.
But particularly when you're running for re-election, when it is the thing that is the most important thing.
There's another job of the press, and this is even pre the television era.
There's a reason that FDR was never shown in his wheelchair.
There's a reason that John F. Kennedy pretended to be a vigorous man, but he was certainly not.
And Kennedy accelerated it, and I think Reagan super-accelerated it, because he was an actor and he was a Hollywood figure.
And it's only gotten more intense until we got to President Obama, who, like, became popular partly because, like, rap artists were, like, taking his speeches and turning them into, like, hit music video.
Like, it's accelerated, but it was even true during the Roosevelt era.
The president is an avatar for the American people.
And the American people have a very high opinion of themselves.
The American people think of themselves, this country invented the concept of the superhero for a reason.
Because the American people think we're Captain America.
They think we're strong, they think we're robust, and they want their president to look that way.
If William Howard Taft had lived in an era where they saw pictures of the president, he wouldn't have been the president.
Americans want the president to represent them in the world in a certain way that has vigor, that has strength.
Al Gore was a brilliant man.
Excellent decision maker, made excellent decisions as vice president.
Americans didn't care.
They wanted the guy they thought was cooler.
That's just real talk about Americans and about American voters.
And so to your point, Joe Biden, yes, you can look at his record and it is factually one of the best records of any modern president.
It is a top 10 presidents record.
But you can't become president again when America looks at you and that avatar to them looks broken.
Let's not pretend this is a good thing.
Let's just remember that what's happened here is imagery has taken control of the way we see presidential campaigns.
Yes.
FDR could not possibly have survived a debate like this at any time, and he was arguably our best president.
Could not possibly have done it.
He was in much better physical shape in his last presidential campaign, and was in effect much older, because it turns out he was in the last year of his life in his last presidential campaign, which he won.
But we don't have a better government Because we've turned to the most superficial components of politics to decide our candidates.
If we did that in the 1940s, FDR would not have been president.
And, you know, good luck with World War II.
Can I say one more very quick thing, which is just the John Fetterman debate?
What is he saying?
It was he had a really hard time communicating.
The man was recuperating from a stroke.
There was a sentence, people watching it being like, this is a disaster.
They're literally comparing John Fetterman.
Judgment of people, and not wrongly.
I mean, the man was dealing with speeches after stroke.
Polling turned out that people thought he did alright, and he won that race.
So, again, just to like everyone to check themselves a little bit to your point, Lawrence, about like what people will say out there.
I don't know.
I can just tell you what I read.
The only thing I would add, though, is that the record of the decisions, and I love what you said at the beginning, it's such a false contest, right?
Because the president is about being in a room surrounded by the smartest people, if they'll come work for you, and making decisions.
The smartest people around Biden made the decision to do this.
So I think there is a fair question about the performance and about Biden, who thought this was a good idea.
And who thought that putting him on the right, rather than just small things like that, why would you put him on the right?
Because that meant for the camera, because Biden likes to look over at the moderators and to look away.
Had he been on the left, he would have been facing Donald Trump.
Oh, you meant he looked like he was looking off-camera?
He looked like he was looking off-camera.
Every decision they made exacerbated the problem.
But now that there is this problem, what does the campaign do?
Well, look, I... Let's ask Kamala Harris.
When you work, yeah.
Let's ask Kamala Harris.
We will in just a moment.
She's not here yet.
Thanks, though, Chris.
Cheers.
I'll tell you, I mean... You heard me say it.
Tease ahead.
I worked on campaigns, and it is the job of a campaign to take the hit, right?
I mean, it is the job of the campaign to take the blame.
And that is a better scenario than it being the candidate.
Because, you know, I mean, you can't change the candidate, but you can.
This works and that conversation is live and active at the highest level of the Democratic Party.
Well, let's bring in somebody who has operated at the highest levels of the Democratic Party and still has many, many contacts there and has been talking to people.
This is insane.
So we can find out what's happening in those circles.
MSNBC political analyst, President Obama's campaign manager in 2008, David Plouffe is with us.
Actually, keep it on.
Keep David Plouffe on.
To some muckety-mucks in Democratic politics.
This is the guy who told Democrats to vote for Nikki Haley.
Your personal David Plouffe take on what you saw tonight and what are you hearing from the people you've been speaking with?
Okay.
Well, I think consistent with your reaction, Rachel, and others on the panel, it's kind of a Def Con One moment.
I do think Lawrence and Chris give a very important caveat.
Listen, I've been...
Some went well, some didn't go well.
The only thing that matters, and you won't really know for three or four days, is how the voters that will decide this election will react.
I would also add, I have deep suspicion that Donald Trump, with swing voters, bombed as well.
And that's the tragedy.
The biggest thing in this election is voters' concerns, and it's both swing voters and base voters with his age, and those were compounded tonight.
So what the campaign's going to do is try and run ads.
Biden will go after them.
It wasn't just his craziness and his lies, although that was apparent in every question.
Like, Donald Trump wouldn't even answer questions about child care or the opioid crisis.
You know, talk about someone who's consumed with himself, which is what the message the Biden campaign wanted to land.
But the concern level is quite high.
This is a significantly important lead in battleground states.
We had a really bad first debate.
Race tightened, but we're okay.
Biden is behind narrowly right now.
He's the one that has to change the equation here.
And the biggest barrier that's keeping his ceiling low is concerns about age.
And I think that's the tragedy because I think Trump had so many openings that you could have just scissored him up on tonight.
And Biden did have a couple of good moments.
But I think at the end of the day, the overwhelming reaction, again, it doesn't matter, quite frankly, what people like us say.
It's what voters say.
And if they were already concerned about Izzy Ufford, and the way I think about it is, sadly, this really pains me to say this, they're three years apart.
They seemed about 30 years apart tonight.
And I think that's going to be the thing that voters really wrestle with coming out of this.
In terms of people in Democratic politics and people who have the kind of influence that donors have in Democratic politics, which is, you know, there's a PhD thesis to be done right there, even in the premise of this question, what kind of reactions are you hearing in terms of what they want to see, what sort of reaction they want to see for what happened tonight?
Well, Rachel, I mean, there's really only two scenarios.
One, which is Joe Biden decides to step down, and we have a fascinating seven-week campaign to get the supportive delegates in Chicago.
The only other option is somehow to right the ship here.
Now, I'm not sure whether Trump will debate again.
It's fascinating.
He may think this won't allow for him.
He wants another.
You could certainly hear him saying, I'm done.
I'm not going to do this again.
It's the next debate now, but all you can do if you're a Democrat is ask yourself what I can do, which is, yeah, we missed an opportunity, but it's still a close race and you're running against Donald Trump.
And again, I think this will come out, but, you know, I've talked to people who are doing dial groups and focus groups with swing voters, and as much as they were concerned about Biden's performance, and they were, you know, they weren't, no one was saying, I'm really excited about Donald Trump coming back to the presidency.
He reconfirmed all the reasons they voted against him in 2020.
And again, I look at that as a huge missed opportunity because he really provided a lot of openings, I think, for Biden or any candidate to really exacerbate that.
So I think Democrats will spend 24, 48, 72 hours, you know, in some state of crisis.
But then we have to find a way forward.
This is a really big deal.
This was obviously a significant moment.
It's the most important 90 minutes of the campaign.
You guys, this is a really big deal.
You basically have Barack Obama's campaign manager right now who campaigned with Joe Biden saying that this was a DEFCON 1 moment for the Democrats tonight and that Joe Biden is losing.
And then you just heard the words come out of his mouth that President Trump and Joe Biden are three years apart, but it seemed to me that they were 30 years apart tonight.
This is a really big deal.
This is a really big deal.
President Joe Biden came out of the gate with an unexpectedly weak voice, a voice that at times made the saying hard to discern.
The campaign said it was.
So they're trying to say on MSNBC right now, you have Joy Reid saying, oh, well, Joe Biden was on the right hand of the stage.
And that's why that's why he did so bad.
Why would you put him on the right?
He has a cold, he has a cold.
And then David Plouffe, who I just said was Barack Obama's campaign manager who campaigned with Joe Biden as well, literally just said that this was a, quote, DEF CON one moment and that Joe Biden is losing.
So what you have right now is the Obama political machine dumping Joe Biden on live television right now.
Let's cut back to Rachel Madcow.
You might have noticed at the very end of the debate, as soon as the moderators said goodnight, boom, we lost the shot.
And so we didn't get to see President Biden's wife, the First Lady, or anybody else walking out on stage.
They have now the.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I can't thank you all enough for staying and for being here and for all your support.
Joe, you did such a great job.
You answered every question.
You knew all the facts.
And we asked the crowd, what did Trump do?
Yes!
So, Jim, I'm gonna hand it over to you because we have such a great group of supporters here, so thank you all for coming!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Appreciate it.
You've been here the whole time!
I see it, I see it.
Look, folks, you know, there, uh, I shouldn't say this, but my brother always uses lines from movies.
There was a famous movie.
John Wayne and he's working for the northern military trying to get the Apaches back in the reservation.
They were lying like hell to him.
They're all sitting on a bluff and John Wayne was sitting with two Apaches.
These guys are nothing but these pony soldiers.
Look, folks, what's going to happen over the next couple of days is they're going to be they're going to be out there fact checking all the things he said. - Yes!
I can't think of one thing he said that's true.
No, I'm not being facetious.
But look, we're going to beat this guy.
We're going to beat this guy.
And I need you in order to beat him.
You're the people I'm running for.
We need you!
He says he's going to be the retribution for his supporters.
You are the reason why America is as good as we are.
We're the finest nation in the whole damn world.
Nobody's close.
Let's keep going.
See you at the next one.
God love you all.
Heading to North Carolina.
Alright.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
I want to go home with you.
Thank you.
President Biden, this is a live shot in Atlanta tonight.
This is at a watch party in Atlanta.
I'm getting the microphone back too.
Does that say Pretty Tammy the DJ?
Yes, it does.
And Beyonce kicks in.
And the president is dancing.
This has just been, I mean, you heard his voice and his energy there and his cadence there, a world away from what you just heard on the debate stage.
That Joe Biden would have killed in that debate.
But the Joe Biden that we saw on the debate stage was about 90% more soft spoken.
And why is Beyonce playing?
And oh my God, the president is dancing.
Oh my god, he just shit his pants.
Somebody call the diaper changer.
I mean, this is crazy.
Rachel Maddow has the most cognitive dissonance I've ever seen in my life.
This woman is disgusting.
She is lying through her teeth and she needs to be taken off of national television.
I mean, honestly, she is just trying to cope right now.
Now, this is the biggest cope I've ever seen in my life.
Having been very confident and sort of coherent, meaning that he was speaking in sentences and saying things that could be understood, whether or not you agreed with them at the beginning of the debate.
And over the course of the debate, he became much more aggressive, much less coherent and repeatedly failed to answer questions posed by the moderators, which people debating always do.
But it became embarrassing when they were reiterate the question and reiterate the question and reiterate the question.
And he would go back to, in many cases, points from earlier in the debate where he had come off very badly or on points that where he had lost.
For example, calling members of the military who had given their lives in service to the country suckers and losers.
It was Donald Trump who Cut to full screen.
over the course of the debate, which probably not only was not smart, but confusing.
Rachel?
And saying the only question that matters is how did it affect, if at all, cut to full screen and still trying to make a decision.
I'm glad Chris, Chris.
Yes, sir.
I didn't want to cut you off, but I just wanted to jump off on what you said about the Trump line of this.
Because I do think, like, David Plouffe makes a good point.
Trump is sort of priced in.
We all know what he sounds like.
He sounded like Trump.
And he got Trumpier as the evening went on.
He was relatively sort of modulated and concise and succinct in the beginning, and then he got way, way Trumpier.
And to plus point also, like, It is a really important thing to remember because there's this sort of aura around Donald Trump's mystical political appeal that he is unlikable and repellent to voters.
And that schtick, which is the kind of sledgehammer, petulant, self-aggrandizing, self-obsessed... Self-obsessed.
You ask me about fentanyl, let me tell you something about me.
You ask me about childcare, let me tell you something about me.
There's a reason that he lost the popular vote the first time that he ran for president against Hillary Clinton, that he lost the second time he ran by a much larger margin and lost the Electoral College, and it was very much a reminder of that.
And I think that that reminder grew, to your point, more and more acute over the course of the evening, the more kind of, he kept kind of crawling up into his own previous references as the night went on.
And it is in self-referential, people.
He's incessantly doing it.
And it is so easy to be mired in the Biden of it, because my phone is mired in the Biden of it, but it's right.
You cannot leave out of this.
Number one, I thought the egregious lack of fact-checking, and I know it isn't the moderator's job to debate Donald Trump, but he was allowed to say a series of lies that I know on our programs we're going to be playing a lot of it with a slew of fact-checks.
I mean, he literally denied the words he literally said on camera in Charlottesville.
Yeah.
Like we heard him say, it's not like we didn't hallucinate that he did that.
And he said, well, that's a lie.
He said Nancy Pelosi took full responsibility for everything that happened on January 6th and that there's a documentary video.
He pointed us to where we can get the fact check by saying that, oh yeah, her daughter made a documentary.
I think she makes a documentary.
That's where she said it was her fault.
Oh no, we're just going to pull the documentary, man.
He was desperately trying to get somebody to come to defend the Capitol because Trump won't.
Because Trump sicked his mob of supporters on the Capitol.
They came to the Capitol with weapons and zip ties and Nancy Pelosi and other Despite the fact that Trump wasn't bringing them in.
And I'm gonna give Biden one line he did get.
When he said he had the morals of an alley cat, now that was an old guy move that I actually could respect.
Like that was like a thing that only old guy would say.
We're going to sign back in and keep watching, but we're going to go to the chat really quick while we reload the stream for a little bit longer.
A little bit more post-debate coverage.
It's just so funny.
It's amazing watching Joy Reid meltdown right now.
Joy Reid and Chris Matthews.
Rachel Maddow and all these people.
CNN was freaking out.
They need to remove Joe Biden now!
This is terrible!
This is making the Democrats look so bad!
This is DEFCON 1!
I mean, it's just so funny watching these people.
What did you think was going to happen when you lied to the country and told us that 81 million people voted for an Alzheimer's patient?
Nobody actually believes that this Alzheimer's patient got 81 million votes!
Nobody!
Nobody believes it!
And now everybody's realizing, oh my god, we can't actually keep pretending for another four more years that this guy who's probably gonna die from old age or Alzheimer's is actually fit to be president.
He's gonna die!
This guy is literally gonna croak any day now.
And the Democrats are just rushing because they realize within the first few minutes of the debate it's like, Oh, excuse me.
Oh, let me try to answer the question.
We just cannot keep this in our country.
We just cannot keep operating this way.
Everybody can see that this guy is, you know, a total dementia patient.
Oh, where am I?
Oh, looking at Trump when he's talking about his son.
I mean, come on.
Just... Let's stop pretending, okay?
I'm really glad that we can all kind of finally have this moment of unity, where even the Democrats are now coming to terms with the fact that Joe Biden is severely... He's severely ill, okay?
I am so sick of the gaslighting that we have had to endure for the last four years, where people are like, oh, he's fine, he's just got a cold.
Oh, he's just tired.
or no, he's just an old doting old man, you know?
Excuse me.
*coughs* *coughs* my son in Iraq.
That is not true.
That's a lie.
That's a dog and pony show!
I don't know.
I don't know, man.
It's just... We gotta watch these people have their meltdowns.
This is just pure gold.
Let's cut back to MSDNC.
No one is saying it's going to happen.
It's very unlikely.
But just to note that the Republican Convention has 110 unbound delegates.
The Democratic Party has 771 unbound delegates.
Now that does not mean that those unbound delegates will do anything.
It takes... There are 3,000 delegates that happen on the first ballot.
It takes 1,951 delegates to win.
I'm sorry, 1,976 delegates to win.
It's all in numbers.
Yeah, but doing the math of it only matters if it's going to happen.
If it's going to happen.
So the question is whether it's going to happen, and I think that David Plouffe's take on that is probably correct, and I think that Joe Biden's take on that is correct.
My colleague Alex Wagner is standing by right now with California Governor Biden's surrogate Gavin Newsom.
Alex, I cannot wait for this conversation.
Oh, here we go!
Here we go!
Here we go!
I'm telling you guys, I've been telling you for months.
He's going to be replacing Joe Biden.
Here we go.
Here we go.
He's got the hair gel and everything.
Here we go.
We go around.
Nobody wants to talk to them.
Here we go.
It was like the hair gel and everything.
Descending on.
Here we go.
At the end of this debate, Governor, let me just I mean, what was your reaction to what we saw on screen?
Well, I thought on the substance he won the debate.
I'm old school.
I'm old fashioned.
That's what matters to me.
About the lies, I was taking notes about all the lies.
I ran out of paper.
Donald Trump, no accountability on those lies.
Talking down the American economy.
Talking down our democracy.
That was alarming.
This is a world we're living in now, Donald Trump created, where 13-year-olds have to deliver the child of the person that impregnated them.
This is a world that Donald Trump has created.
And so for me, it was daylight and darkness.
of the president's record and I'm very proud for his vision of the future.
I mean, let's talk about the substance though, because I feel like on the signature issue that Democrats have, which is abortion, the president's response was garbled and undirected at best.
Do you feel like he did what he needed to do on an issue that could motivate voters in the polls?
I think it's significantly insignificant because it's de minimis.
They don't Oh, I'm old school.
I was taking notes.
Joe Biden won.
You don't support his policies or his assertions.
Somehow the American people always wanted this to be states right, which was laughable and absurd.
So from that perspective, I don't think that will matter.
You saw it in all the elections since Dodds where Democrats are overperforming.
Oh, I'm old school.
I was taking notes.
Joe Biden won.
Joe Biden won.
Worry less and do more.
We have the opportunity to turn the page.
We have the opportunity to put our heads down.
We have the opportunity to universally have the back of this president.
They are so replacing Joe Biden with Gavin Newsom.
You don't turn your back.
You go home with the one that brought you to the dance.
100% all in.
And I was very, very proud that he was able to articulate the work that he's done and lay a foundation of understanding of the lies and the deceit that continued to come out of Donald Trump.
You were out there getting up for questions about whether Biden should step down.
There is panic.
It's just ridiculous.
Oh, here we go.
Panic.
There is panic that has set in among people who have watched this debate, who are Democrats, people who are strategists, and some even inside Democratic campaigns.
Do you think...
Oh my god!
helpful.
And I think it's unnecessary.
We've got to go in and got to keep our heads high.
Oh, my God.
As I say, we've got to have the back of this president.
We have to have the back of performance.
What kind of party does that?
It's been a master class.
Fifteen point six million jobs.
That's eight times more than the last three Republican presidents combined.
The only thing the last three Republican presidents have in common is recessions.
Democrats.
The president is delivered.
We need to deliver for him at this moment.
With all due respect, the more time we start having these conversations go down these rabbit holes, it's unhelpful to our democracy, our fate and future of this country, the world.
They need us right now to step up, and that's exactly what I intend to do.
Not to belabor the point, but, I mean, this was a Biden campaign strategy.
This was their idea to do this debate now.
And I wonder what you think they got out of it.
What was Biden's strongest moment from this debate in your mind?
Well, again, back to the substance.
He got stronger.
He had more stamina over the debate.
But was there one moment that you think sticks?
Well, anyway, it's difficult to assess.
I need a little bit more objectivity and time away from this in the context of trying to pick those moments.
But look, the bottom line is this was an opportunity to sort of distill the essence of what this campaign's about.
You're hearing the messaging from the campaign distilled down what that key message is.
Turn the page.
Go to North Carolina tomorrow.
We'll get out there on the road.
Surrogates need to step up.
We need to step in to support this grassroots effort all across the United States.
We need to raise money.
And we need to understand what's at stake if we don't.
We need to understand what's at stake if we turn our back at this critical time.
There's too much.
If Biden and Trump are remembered for any particular line... Look at what he just said.
He said that we need to step up and that's exactly what I plan to do.
That's an admission.
I'm taking that as an admission that Gavin Newsom is going to be stepping up and filling in for Joe Biden.
Yes, absolutely.
I know our friends in New York have questions for you, so if we could go back to New York City, Rachel.
Hey Governor Newsom, it's Rachel Maddow here.
Thank you so much for taking time here.
When you said worry less and do more, do what?
What do you think that people who support President Biden, people in democratic politics, people who are planning on voting for him, who are worried that he seemed older than they expected tonight, that he didn't seem to reassure people on stamina issues as Joy was saying before, what should people do?
We'll talk about what he has done and what he's done recently.
What he's delivered in bipartisan, unprecedented legislation.
An infrastructure bill, the Chips in Science Act, the work that he's done across a spectrum of issues to deliver for the American people.
And the vision he's laid out for the future and contrast that.
Not just lifting up those issues, but contrast that and drive that contrast of the dystopian vision that Donald Trump has to the future.
It's a binary choice at the end of the day.
And so we've got to drive that contrast even harder.
And Trump didn't make that better tonight because he continued the lies and the grievances and the retribution and the language that no one else want to see moving forward.
He's all about the past.
American reverse.
He wants to bring us back to a pre-1960s world.
Voting rights.
Civil rights.
LGBTQ rights.
Women's rights.
Access to abortion.
Access to contraception.
That's what we need to talk about.
That's what's on the ballot.
Democracy.
The fate and future of this country.
For that matter, alliances around the world.
We need to buck up and focus on what's at stake and not navel gaze and not look back.
This is crazy.
Look forward.
It's always about tomorrow.
This is totally crazy.
Everything's about tomorrow.
In terms of bucking up and not navel-gazing and moving forward.
If you were to advise the campaign how to turbocharge, how to kick up into another level, I do think they're going to have to make up ground they didn't previously have to make up because of this debate performance.
What can they do that they're not doing?
Should they do the second debate in September?
Should they change course in some of the ways that they are trying to communicate?
I hear you making a very strong case for President Biden's record, but I don't know what they should do to make that case more strongly than they have been.
Well, I think you just double down on what we're doing.
We're all about to go out to six states across this country.
I'm just doing my small part.
There's hundreds and hundreds of us that will be going out.
We have a clear message.
We have a clear contrast with Donald Trump and his performance tonight and his doubling down on lies and deceit.
Unbelievable.
Told you guys, you know.
to build a grassroots, to get people to recognize what's at stake if we don't unify as a Democratic party.
And again, it's a choice.
This is a choice election.
And so look, all I know what to do is wake up tomorrow and do more and do better and worry less.
It's about passion.
It's about passion.
It's about purpose.
And it's about having the back of the president.
If you think that Joe Biden is going to be replaced by Gavin Newsom, what a one in the chat.
I wanted to ask you, you've talked a lot about President Biden and his performance and his accomplishments.
If voters out there could see one answer from Donald Trump tonight or one moment that stuck out to you where you thought people cannot elect this man, what would that be?
I mean, what should people out there who are pushing out there that was damaging and terrible from Donald Trump the most?
The way he talks about immigrants offends me.
I live in the most diverse state in the world's most diverse democracy.
27% of my state is foreign-born.
It's not a question of tolerating that.
We celebrate it.
It's a point of pride.
We practice pluralism.
The way he talks about immigrants to the American terms of what makes this great, this nation.
Advance together across our differences.
advance together across our differences.
These are fundamental.
These are fundamental.
It's not about one quick clip.
It's not about one quick clip.
It's about all of the things stacked together that represent not only what he said tonight, but what he said over his entire career.
It's about all of the things stacked together that represent not only what he said tonight, but what he said over his entire career.
He doesn't have your back, period, full stop.
He doesn't have your back, period, full stop.
We must have the back of the president of the United States, Joe Biden, at this critical moment and focus on tomorrow, focus on the vision that will ignite this country moving forward and talk about the stakes of falling short.
We must have the back of the president of the United States, Joe Biden, at this critical moment and focus on tomorrow.
Focus.
Liberalism, illiberalism, daylight, darkness.
Governor, I am sensing a frustration with the format of this debate, the reduction, the reductivist nature of the debate, the sort of carnival like atmosphere of the debate and a desire to get back to the essence of news and the choice ahead for the American public.
Having said that, there.
I think that Joe Biden should participate in.
Absolutely.
I mean, we've all had those nights.
All of us.
Not one person watching hasn't had those nights.
Well, we've not all been in presidential debates.
But it's not about debates.
You have good moments, you have bad moments.
You wake up the next day, you dust it off, and you move forward.
It's all about resiliency.
That's what the American people are about.
That's what Joe Biden's been about his entire life.
I've seen this over and over, this movie before.
Oh, Joe Biden should pack it up in the primaries.
He's got no chance.
After Iowa, he gives up.
For us, fighting for democracy, our future, kids, our grandkids.
So we've got to have his back in this respect.
And yeah, I hope he does come back.
And I hope he is back on the stage in another debate.
Absolutely.
He is.
I'm sure we're going to want to talk to you after that one, too.
Governor, I know you have a busy day job.
Thank you for your time tonight.
We really very, very deeply appreciate it.
It's great to be with you.
Thanks.
Back to you, Rachel.
Alex Wagner with California Governor Gavin Newsom.
Many thanks to you both.
Jen Psaki has joined us here at the table.
Jen, what was...
What are you hearing from people you've been talking to over the course of the night?
Well, I've been listening to what you all have been saying and I don't think we should sugarcoat this.
This was not the debate performance that the Biden campaign team wanted or needed from this debate.
In part because they wanted to do this debate as early as they did to change this up, right?
To bring the Joe Biden who is at the State of the Union to the debate stage.
That's not the Joe Biden who showed up at the debate stage.
You could see inklings of that, or wrinkles of that, or whatever, at the post-debate event, right?
In the very last answer of the debate, when all of a sudden it was like, oh, he's warmed up!
Yes, and as you said, Rachel, he did improve as the night went on.
His voice improved.
His answers improved.
He had a couple of moments, I thought, his answer on calling out Trump's criminality was pretty good.
He was a little garbly on abortion.
If you're the campaign, you're going to push Moments there were a couple on social media, but it's not the debate they wanted I think the biggest challenge for them and Nicole's been talking about this a little bit and we've sat in similar chairs is How distracting all of the chatter is going which all getting on?
on email about whether he should be replaced.
That chatter is happening.
People are asking questions.
I don't mean it's from the American public writ large, and we don't know how they feel and we won't know for some time.
And if you look at history, this may not impact them at all.
But the chatter is very distracting and it's going to be very consuming for the campaign.
Should he be replaced?
They're going to be answering that question instead of breaking through on attack.
That's Joy, a version of this, too.
Is the chatter peanut gallery or is the chatter from deciders?
It is largely it depends on who deciders are, right?
Because the deciders are really the public.
I have not heard that from campaign operatives, but I have heard it from members of Congress.
I have heard it from people who have worked many Democrats.
Along those lines, what do we do now?
Can he still be replaced, right?
Now, is that chatter the same chatter?
I think Lawrence made this point earlier today, earlier this evening, in two weeks when Trump is sentenced and if Joe Biden goes out and has a strong couple It may not be, but incumbent upon the campaign to now dig out of this hole.
And that's not where you want to be coming out of a debate.
I will also say, I worked for President Obama in 2012 as his traveling press secretary when he absolutely bombed the first debate.
He face planted it.
And if he's watching, I'm sorry to say that, but it is a fact.
And that prompted him.
Anybody who's running for president is competitive.
Joe Biden's a competitive person.
Barack Obama's a competitive person.
If your back is against the wall, maybe he will bring his best self forward.
And we saw that in the post-event.
That's what they need to do.
But the distraction and the chatter is a headache for them.
them.
What would you I mean, if you were like, you know, on the campaign now and you have all this chatter, we're all hearing in our text, what do you think in the next 24 to 48 hours would you do?
Well, you've seen aides do this and you saw Governor Newsom do this a tiny bit at the end.
I mean, he said at the beginning he won the debate.
I don't think that's... Oh, he's an excellent surrogate, by the way.
Let me just say, A-1.
But he sort of, at the end, people have bad nights.
It was not a good night for Joe Biden, right?
I mean, he was great after, he was good at the State of the Union, but it wasn't a good debate performance.
You acknowledge that.
You let people take a little air out of the balloon.
You're not living in la-la land.
It wasn't a great debate.
You have to have him out there and active and doing a lot of events and being very vocal, right?
And Nicole said this earlier, the best thing you can do as a communicator, if you're advising him, is change the subject, right?
Is there an announcement you can make?
Is there a big surrogate?
Is there a Republican who's a surprise?
I mean, if Chris Christie is waiting in the wings to endorse tomorrow, what's today?
So, you know, I don't know what they have up their sleeves, but that's what they need.
I will also say, and I don't know the answer to this, so I'm posing it to you all.
I don't know when the Vice President agreed to come on MSNBC.
I don't know if it was long before the debate, perhaps.
If it wasn't, you don't send the Vice President of the United States out if you won the debate, typically.
So they are, I think, starting to think about... We knew we were going to get the Vice President.
But I do think that you'll see her out there more.
I think you should see him out there more.
And they need people like Governor Newsom and Gretchen Whitmer and Wes Moore and all these people out on the airwaves.
That's what they need.
On the Vice President question, obviously the most important role of the Vice President is to be the understudy in the case of the worst for the President.
And so speaking with, we haven't spoken with Vice President Harris yet, she's due to be joining us soon.
placing Joe Biden.
This is crazy.
Well, that's interesting because I do think when people chatter about replacing him, they don't always mention Vice President Harris and they should.
I mean, she's the Vice President of the United States.
She is first in line, but people think about a brokered convention and what that might look like, right?
And so I also think it's important for the campaign and for the Biden that she is absolutely with him and has his back and believes he has what it takes to be president.
Yeah.
So that outweighs the notion of she could replace him, I think, in there and how you weigh it on a campaign.
Jen, inside, who says what to the candidate?
That's a good question, Lawrence, and I know because you've done these meetings, it's like you never want to be the person.
I will say I remember in 2012, when President Obama bombed that debate, that he wasn't aware he bombed the debate.
This is crazy.
Right?
They never are.
David Plouffe, who was just on the air earlier, and David Axelrod, two of the closest advisors, were the ones who went and told him he bombed the debate.
He didn't watch it for a couple of days, and then he knew.
Romney.
Wow.
He David Plouffe, who was just on the air earlier, and David Axelrod, two of the closest advisers, were the ones who went and told him he bombed the debate.
He didn't watch it for a couple of days.
And then he knew I did not do well in the debate.
He gave one of the best and I was traveling with him all the time.
He gave one of the best performances at a rally the next day in Colorado that he gave the entire year because, again, they're competitive people.
I would say in this moment it is probably a combination of Mike Donilon, And Steve Ricchetti perhaps, Ron Klain of course, who are conveying directly to him how that debate performance went and where it goes from here.
Do you believe that doing the debate this early was a campaign idea or was it his idea?
I think likely a campaign idea that he would have to have signed off on.
I gotta say, I am not convinced, and I know you're gonna disagree with me on this, but I am not convinced that it was a bad idea to do the debate this early.
Because part of the calculus there is, let's not look like we're afraid to debate, and let's debate really early so if it goes really badly, a lot more water will be under the bridge by the time anybody has to make any sort of decision based on this.
I mean, having this debate in June is way better than having this debate in October.
Oh no, and I agree with you.
I actually, I thought it was a good idea from the standpoint of the biggest question that Biden faced from his own supporters, people who were with him but want to feel confident, is the stamina question.
So I think doing it, especially doing it in the summer, it's got like a pre, you know, July 4th kind of timing vibe.
It made logical sense.
The problem is they didn't deliver.
I mean, I think had he delivered and actually delivered a vigorous, even just a decent deliver, you know, sort of performance, I think this would have been a very smart idea.
But I think some of the decisions around it, I think putting him on the right, I still will maintain.
I know it seems like a small thing.
I think it was the wrong decision.
If you had the first coin flip, you should have put him on the left so he would look like he was looking at.
Trump, instead of looking out, you know, into the distance.
Or told him to just look the other direction.
I mean, they knew where the cameras were supposed to be.
And again, Donald Trump is a television performer.
He is not a president.
He didn't age when he was president because he wasn't president.
He was on the golf course the whole time.
He knows TV.
He knows where the red light is.
He knows where the cameras are.
He knows how to perform.
So going against him, you needed better optics for your...
Well, let's bring in some very important new voices to this conversation, people who are the people we've been talking about in the abstract all night, voters.
Joining us now from Phoenix, where he watched the debate with four voters, is NBC News correspondent Gatti Schwartz.
Gatti.
Fascinating stuff at the top of your hour because this is my panel right here.
We are in the backyard in Maricopa County here in Arizona and after we were done watching the debate, you're over here, the TVs are over here, they don't have IFBs in.
And so as you all were talking about the possibility of somebody else other than Biden running on the Democratic ticket or possibly an open convention, they were talking about this same thing and they are completely removed from these spin rooms and everything that's happening.
It's happening over there in Atlanta right now.
It's just really interesting to hear you all talk about that, to hear you all talk about that, all at the same time.
So, first off, I want to get your perspective and whether or not it changed, but when we came, when we set this up, we were talking about double-haters, the people that don't like either candidate.
How would you describe both candidates after tonight, starting with you?
Oh, so Trump, he didn't really answer questions.
He just kept rebuttaling what Biden said or bringing up something that has nothing to do with the question.
Biden, he was trying to answer the questions, but he also was trying to rebuttal Trump as well when he was, you know, coming at him about things that have nothing to do with the question, like, you know, golfing or things like that.
I saw you get pretty heated when they started talking about golfing.
Yeah, because why are you talking about golfing?
This is a political debate about presidency and how are you going to be in the office?
How is it going to be?
And you're talking about golfing right now?
And who has the better swing?
Yeah, that's when I wanted to tune out when I saw that.
I was just like, wow.
And Jeff, you're not a Democrat, and yet you're talking about who else can the Democrats run right now.
Tell me a little bit about what you're thinking.
So, I think what we just witnessed was, well the feeling I had inside was, Trump, hell no.
He lied through the whole thing.
And Biden is like, oh no, he is really in a bad shape.
Can he even run in the rest of the election or take the White House again?
I just don't see how that would work.
So yeah, maybe an open convention.
Open convention, the Democrats, and you're a McCain Republican here in Arizona.
Could you vote for somebody else that runs on the Democratic ticket?
If they're not liars and cheats, yeah, it's a tough choice and I think you said it best.
Yeah, I mean, Trump is an absolute no.
He's a liar and a thief and a rapist and all those other things.
It's just not acceptable.
That's the way I was brought up.
You don't lie and you take accountability for yourself.
At least Biden's that way.
He seems like an honorable and honest guy, but I don't think he's got the stamina.
I mean, Denise, you just made an observation when Biden popped up.
Can you share with us your observation there?
Well, it was interesting because before this started, we had talked about who's going to show up today.
You know, which Biden is going to show up, which Trump is going to show up.
Is it going to be a circus?
Is it going to be, you know, a show?
This is like so embarrassing.
I feel like when Trump was speaking, You know, he's got that orange skin and he had that silly smile and he moves his hands like this and I want to put a set of tambourines in between like the wind-up monkey because he pats himself on the back so much.
And here's Biden, unfortunately, poor thing, who he would talk and it was like the puppet master was like, oh here I am and I'm gonna go do this and then I'm over.
And his head was down, his eyes were glazed, it was like he was on and he was off.
And I think both parties should really think about an open convention.
Nicole, how do you categorize this choice?
I mean, it's like Sophie's choice, but reverse.
I don't want to make either choice because I was not surprised by their performance at all.
Trump acted like Trump, Biden acted like Biden, and that's why I'm frustrated with where we are today.
You're all talking about open conventions.
I don't think any of you are Democrats or card-carrying Democrats.
There are third-party candidates.
How do you all feel about RFK?
RFK Jr.?
Anybody?
I don't think he's got the mental acuity needed for that either.
I have no comment on him.
I haven't really looked over his plan or what he plans to do or heard too much about him.
I saw there was a petition around trying to get him on ballot, but that's about it.
And Denise?
I don't think he's fit for this job of president.
I think he did a fine job on the state level.
I think he's good at doing other things, but he's just not good enough for president.
How about you, Nicole?
I mean, I look at who we have right now, and there's just lacking in leadership.
Both of them, poor leadership.
So, for me to consider somebody else, that's what I'm looking at.
I'm looking at leadership characteristics.
Now, there is something that we've been talking about, and I've been kind of reluctant on bringing it up, because I don't want you to get all kinds of hate from people.
But it's the idea of, like, I don't like any of these candidates, so I may not vote, but I'm scared of people saying, no, you have to vote.
And that seems to be a real concern.
Are you guys comfortable chatting about that?
I mean, like, starting with you, Nicole, like, is there a possibility that you just don't vote?
Right now, absolutely.
I mean, I was, back in 2016, it was all that chatter of, you know, it's your American right, it's your due diligence, and if you don't vote, then you're voting for the other person, and all of this that really had my husband and I prayerfully considering, like, Who do we vote for?
And with the two choices we have now, we don't.
We don't vote for them.
And I can feel more confident not voting for either of them than I can trying to... I did the lesser of two evils last time, and January 6th happened.
I cannot and will not do it again.
Actually, when we were watching the debate, every time January 6th came up, I saw you all lean forward.
When they started talking about January 6th tonight, what went through your minds, starting with you?
Stop saying that it's Nancy Pelosi's fault.
Start taking... Former President Trump needs to take accountability for his part in this as well.
I just can't even, I don't even want to go there because it just riles me so much that our country and our public buildings were just so defiled in that.
Because he keeps saying that the election was stolen from him.
It wasn't stolen, he was ousted from office, his four year job as contractor.
For the American people, he was fired and he needed to go.
And he did not go quietly.
There was another moment where I was watching you very intently as you were all watching the debate and I saw a lot of you lean forward when you start, when he, the question was about child care, right?
Jillian, you in particular.
Yeah.
And you kept leaning forward and then you just kept sitting back.
Yeah.
When you heard the questions, what was going through your mind?
Well, the main thing that was bothering me the most was when Biden was speaking about it, he was just saying, oh, it's only affecting blacks and Hispanics, but it's affecting everybody because child care is just expensive in general.
And then when it's time for Trump to answer the question, he didn't even answer it.
He didn't answer the question at all.
He just started talking about something else that had nothing to do with the question.
And even the moderator had to bring him back, like, hey, this is the question.
So it's just like, I don't like how they're not giving us any solutions.
I thought the debate was for solutions.
Like, this is what I'm going to do when I get into office.
It wasn't too much of that.
Jeff, did you see or hear any solutions?
Well, I don't know that Trump has any policies in mind, and I know Biden does, but I don't think... How's he going to execute those policies if he returns to office?
It's just...
Open convention.
Open convention.
And again, this is coming from non-democrats talking about open convention.
One of the other things that I thought was really important, you know, a lot of times when people are watching politics, they think everybody in the world is watching politics.
Three of you said something I thought was fascinating.
The truth is, how many here would have made it past three questions in this debate before turning the TV off?
One, just Jeff.
You three said that, no, and what would, at what point, if you weren't watching and hanging out with us and we weren't, you know, supplying you with all that guacamole, like, at what point would you have turned it off?
What part just turned you off completely?
The whole finger pointing.
Well, you did this and you did that.
And just, I came to watch, to try to watch two relatively sane people talk about what they're going to do for the country.
And we got two second graders having a slugfest on the playground.
Let's get the final bingo card up.
And with that, I will ask you, Denise, who did you vote for the last election?
I will say in the last election, I voted for everyone who ran for an office except the president because I wrote myself in the office.
You wrote Denise in.
I wrote Denise.
Denise in the writing kit.
Denise wrote on screen.
Alright.
With that, Rachel, I'll send it back to you.
Well, that would make for a very interesting... Here's the final version of debate bingo.
Okay, let's cut back to Rachel Maddow.
Let's go.
Candidate.
That would really give, I mean, she's the only one who's run a campaign.
That would give her a leg up.
Thanks, you guys.
That was fascinating.
With voters in Phoenix tonight.
Yeah, she's the one who's already started her campaign.
That was I'm really, really glad that we did that because that absolutely.
Particular, we're saying, Lawrence, but a lot of this discussion, I mean, the first.
Said that it was insane that they were talking about golfing.
Trump was not answering any questions.
Biden at least tried to answer.
The second voter said his answer was Trump.
Hell no.
Absolutely no way.
This is a guy's a Republican.
The guy's a Republican.
Absolutely no way.
He's a thief and a rapist.
Hell no.
But then his answer on Biden was, oh, no.
He seems like he's in bad shape.
He's an honorable person, but he seems like he's in bad shape.
Third person said Trump.
Constantly, she wanted to put symbols between his hands so they would like a monkey doing the wind up monkey thing.
Trump lying all the time.
But about Biden, she said, wow, I think describing him as being essentially inanimate.
Oh, no.
I love Joe Biden.
I know.
That, I mean, that was as positive a Joe Biden focus group as you could have with those.
Thank you.
Probably, because the ballot is going to be Trump versus Biden.
Yeah.
So there's probably three Biden voters if they pull in what we just saw.
And none of them registered Democrats.
And there's one who might not vote, which is fine.
That happens.
And so, there you see it.
You know, that Republican enabled enough.
Voted unenthusiastically.
Voted for what we used to call the lesser of two evils before we knew how evil it could be.
He's gonna go with Joe Biden no matter what Joe Biden's stamina level is in November and he's just gonna hope.
And in the programs of the campaign one of the might be for him What look at how much Joe Biden has achieved with a weak voice in his 80s.
He can still do that.
Dress the importance of staff to actually admit that the president.
For a voter like that, you know, to to understand that this this this is a possible vote he can cast.
But man, that was there was no one there saying that.
OK, that's the absolute end of Biden.
But I think.
Harris, I mean, there's a reason they put her on the ticket.
She gives you the youth and the vitality and the vigor that people want.
And I think that this is a reason to use her more.
Oh my God.
You have a couple of friends who have been focus groups again.
This is so great.
You have Maria Shriver saying, I love Joe Biden.
I know he's a good man.
Oh, I know his heart is good.
I know he's dedicated to our country.
Tonight was heartbreaking in many ways.
This is a big political moment.
There's panic in the Democrat Party.
It's gonna be a long night.
I mean, come on.
You know, what did these people think was gonna happen when they put up an Alzheimer's patient?
It's so fucked up.
They all knew.
They all knew that this guy was unfit.
Okay?
And that Trump did not help himself.
No matter what Biden did or didn't do, Trump did not help himself.
You know, and we've had this concern about no fact-checking in the debate.
But they're sitting there telling us that Donald Trump was lying.
So they have enough experience to not need the fact-checking.
They know when he's lying.
I don't think anybody in America needs to have it explained to them that Nancy Pelosi didn't cause January 6th.
I think the other thing that we're gonna learn in the coming days is...
I mean, and it's anecdotal, but it is the threat.
Voters know a lot about both of these men already.
If debates were the only thing that determined outcomes, neither of our bosses would have won.
I think he might quibble with losing all three.
He definitely lost the first two to John Kerry.
And he too had no idea that he'd lost.
There is a thing with incumbent presidents, sort of, And I don't think Joe Biden is actually like this, but there's just some chip in them like, I have to debate this.
McCain cited an insurrection against the government he ostensibly led.
I think the questions for the Biden campaign are, how quickly can you get yourself back on offense tomorrow morning?
How quickly can you change the topic?
And how quickly can you sort of reassure your coalition, which has a Adam Kinzinger and Jeff Duncan delivered straight to the Republicans who are, you know, like their voter, their AmeriCorps way, know how.
How quickly can you get yourself back to the structural imperative?
One of them is if they rewatch that debate and if the president watches that debate, it's very clear that his strength was when he was not listed.
to remember numbers and then correcting himself and losing the thread.
It was when he was passionately responding on veterans.
It was when he was talking about January 6th.
It was when he was...
As a statistician.
A record keeper.
A record keeper, as he was in the first half.
The other thing that I think is going to be a challenge for them, and this is sort of the inside-outside game, right?
It's voters, and we're talking about them, but it's also the Democratic operatives in the circle, is down-ballot candidates.
Because down-ballot candidates watch that debate and they worry about him being at the top of the ticket.
We've got much more to come tonight.
In just a few minutes, we are going to be speaking live with Vice President Kamala Harris.
And tomorrow, assure them as well.
We've got much more to come tonight.
In just a few minutes, we are going to be speaking live with Vice President Compton.
Thanks for her.

Black psoriasis.
Kamala Harris is on CNN talking about how there was a slow start to the debate.
O-Tesla is the number one prescribed pill to treat black psoriasis.
What?
O-Tesla can help you get clearer skin and reduce itching and flaking with no routine blood tests required.
Out of control.
Doctors have been prescribing O-Tesla for over...
O-Tesla is the number one prescribed pill to treat psoriatic arthritis.
Don't use O-Tesla if you're allergic to...
This is bad.

So I've been going through all the Twitter posts right now and we had a commercial break right there.
So I've been making notes on my phone here of all the different videos.
Let's go to Twitter and look at the feed because there's just a few things that you all need to see now because there's just so much going on.
So go to the front page of my Twitter feed.
Yeah, click on my timeline.
So you have a video of President Trump's advisor, James Blair, just posted this video.
So here we go.
President Trump emerges from the stage victorious.
So that's good.
Let's download that, play that.
Kamala Harris was also just on CNN and she she looks shook and she's sitting there and she's like oh well it was a slow start it was a slow start.
Let's go ahead and play this video right now of President Trump walking in to the room of his advisors and staff after just obliterating Joe Biden during this debate.
Let's go.
Also to look at the front page of Politico right now.
Go up, scroll up on my, uh, just tweeted it.
There we go.
Biden is toast.
My God, this is so bad.
There's so much panic in the Democrat Party right now.
Biden is toast.
Democrats are in full freak out over the president's debate performance.
Okay, exit out of that and scroll down.
Show you the front page of Drudge.
Keep on going, keep on going.
There's the Trump campaign statement.
So, Chris Law, Savita, and Susie Wiles.
Tonight, President Trump delivered the greatest debate performance and victory in history to the largest voter audience in history, making clear exactly how he will improve the lives of every American.
Over and over, President Trump highlighted common-sense plans to reduce inflation, bringing down the cost of groceries, housing, and gas, as well as his plans to bring back his successful first-term policies that kept our southern border secure and free from the wave of Biden migrant crimes currently sweeping our country.
Joe Biden, on the other hand, showed exactly why he deserves to be fired.
Despite taking a week-long vacation at Camp David to prepare for the debate, Biden wasn't able to defend his disastrous record on the economy and border throughout the debate.
He lied, invented stories, and could not articulate a single plan to make things less expensive.
Yeah, it's just really bad.
I mean, it just says President Trump is spot on when he says that if Joe Biden is too incompetent to stand trial, he's too incompetent to be president.
It's just incredible.
It really, honestly, is just so shocking.
I cannot believe that they actually put him on the debate stage.
Americans are struggling financially.
The families of Lakin Riley, Rachel Morin, Jocelyn Nungare, and every other victim of the Biden migrant crime are grieving.
Our country is on fire at home and we stand on the brink of World War III because of Joe Biden's incompetence, but we can turn it all around and bring back the American dream starting on day one by reelecting President Donald Trump.
So, wow, pretty powerful statement there from President Trump's campaign team.
Let's go to the video of Jill Biden.
It's just really an abomination.
Just tweeted it.
Jill Biden saying she's so proud of Joe.
Let's download this and play this clip.
It's just such a such an embarrassment.
What the hell is she wearing too?
It's just unbelievable.
Let's play this clip here.
It's just such an embarrassment.
This is elder abuse.
This really is elder abuse.
Let's go ahead and play the clip.
You heard Joe's heart tonight on the debate stage.
He wakes up every morning thinking about how he can make the lives of Americans better.
He's the president we need, the president you deserve.

Yeah, oh, uh, sign up at JoeBiden.com to finish the job.
Finish what job?
Your husband's life?
Like, what are you gonna do?
Like, put him on another debate stage and make him stroke out?
Like, seriously, this is elder abuse.
This is ridiculous.
The guy can't even function, can't even stand up properly.
Like, what are you trying to do?
Are you trying to kill your husband?
What do you mean by finish the job?
He can't even speak or articulate a sentence.
You think that this guy is going to be able to serve another four years?
This is craziness.
This is absolute elder abuse.
And the fact that the Democrats are not, you know, pulling this crazy woman aside and telling her, hey, you know, this is wrong what you're doing to Joe Biden.
Again, I don't feel sorry for him, but it really is just so wrong.
So, again, we've been streaming for about four hours now, and I can't keep my staff here all night long, but there's going to be so much more coverage.
Stay tuned to my ex and my true social account, because I'm going to be live tweeting throughout the rest of the night, posting updates.
We just showed you about an hour and a half of post-debate meltdowns from MSNBC.
CNN and all the crazy liberals who are just losing their mind right now over Joe Biden just completely failing.
So, I'm so proud of President Trump.
Congratulations to President Trump and his amazing campaign team.
This was an incredible debate performance by President Trump and I just think that this debate is really, truly going to be a game changer.

Who knows?
It is that bad.
It is that serious of a situation.
This is a full-blown constitutional crisis that our country is experiencing right now.
But it's good for Trump.
It's good for Trump.
