Hi Governor.
doug burgum
Good morning.
unidentified
Nice to meet you.
doug burgum
Nice to meet you too.
unidentified
I'm Laura Loomer.
I'm a conservative journalist.
And I was just wondering, you know, you're polling right now, 1% in the GOP presidential primary polls.
So what's stopping you right now from just dropping out of the race and endorsing President Trump?
Because clearly there's no path to victory.
doug burgum
Well, I disagree with that.
And I think competition is great for the Republican Party and it's great for America.
unidentified
You think there's a path to victory with 1% polling nationally in GOP primary polls?
doug burgum
I think that's up to the voters in Iowa, New Hampshire, and where we're polling at higher rates than that.
unidentified
That's what they decided.
You're at 1%.
So why increase division in this country instead of just endorsing the leader of the Republican Party, President Trump?
doug burgum
I don't think I'm increasing division when I'm running against Joe Biden.
Joe Biden is 100% 80 degrees wrong on economy.
unidentified
Yeah, but people need to start uniting their resources and their time behind a candidate that can win if we're really going to defeat Joe Biden.
You're at 1% nationally.
So I'm just saying, is there anything stopping you from endorsing President Trump?
Do you see yourself, like when you do drop out, because that's inevitable, will you be endorsing President Trump and supporting him as the nominee?
doug burgum
I will absolutely be supporting Republican over Joe Biden, but we don't have a national primary system.
We have a state primary system that Theodore Roosevelt created to put power in the hands of the people.
unidentified
But will you be supporting Trump, though?
doug burgum
I'll be supporting the Republican nominee.
unidentified
It's going to be Trump.
It's going to be Trump.
Are you going to support Trump?
He's answering your question.
We're going to go on.
doug burgum
Basically, the voters get to decide.
unidentified
The voters want Trump.
