| McCarthy had accused one of the young attorneys working with Welch of being connected to the communists, and that is what prompted Welch to question McCarthy's decency. | ||
| The beginning of the quote is actually, quote, Until this moment, Senator, I think I never really gauged your cruelty or your recklessness. | ||
| This hearing was being broadcast on television, and most essentially, it destroyed Joseph McCarthy's career. | ||

| In reality, a story like this should give people even more confidence about the vaccines that are widely available, because this clearly demonstrates that there are some vaccines that don't make the cut. | ||
| These two that were developed by Merck are not the same ones that were made by Pfizer or Moderna, so pointing at this story as a way to make those vaccines look bad makes no sense. | ||
