Spicemaker McCormick says sales are holding up despite uncertainty about tariffs.
Though earnings in the recent quarter were weaker than a year ago, sales rose.
McCormick is standing by its forecast for the year.
It plans to offset costs relating to import tariffs on China with cost savings and targeted price adjustments.
McCormick shares are down 3.5%.
Energy giant Shell will increase production for the next five years and plans to buy back its stock.
It also plans to maintain the climate targets and ambitions it set out in its energy transition strategy last year.
There are signs that Americans are pulling back on spending.
Credit card company and lender Synchrony Financial says people are accumulating more debt because of strain in their finances.

Boy, we have a lot to cover as usual.
We're going to get you up to date on all the news stories and really try to just run you through the news and give you the best breakdown analysis that is available.
And as we get ready for that, we're going to start with the big story.
That has taken over a lot of the news cycles here.
This is an incredible story.
I want to kind of give you the full breakdown of it here.
But apparently, the editor over at The Atlantic, a guy who goes by the name of Jeff Goldberg, has apparently accidentally received a text message including War plans,
quote unquote, of what the Trump administration plans to do in regard to their conflict that's happening right now with the Houthis, who are, you know, a contingent of terrorists, quote unquote from the middle east who have laid siege to uh certain parts certain maritime
which has been uh quite a problem for the trump administration going creating a necessity for them to go as far as uh declaring that the houthis are now going to be subject to this kind of I want to start with this clip here between Caitlin Collins from CNN and Jeffrey Goldberg.

I'm going to start by getting your reaction to what we heard from Secretary Hegset there, saying that nobody was texting war plans, given you were privy to this group, Chad.
Is that how you saw it?
No, that's a lie.
He was texting war plans.
He was texting attack plans.
When targets were going to be targeted, how they were going to be targeted, who was at the targets.
When the next sequence of attacks were happening, I didn't publish this and I continue not to publish it because it felt like it was too confidential, too technical, and I worry, honestly, that sharing that kind of information in public could endanger American military personnel.
But no, they were plans for the attack.
They were texted before the attack.
And there were things texted that you viewed as so sensitive, you did not even publish them in your report today.
I made the decision that the technical aspects of this, including what kinds of weapons packages, the attack sequencing, and so on, that's not necessarily in the public interest.
What's in the public interest is that they were running a war plan on a messaging app and didn't even know who was invited into the conversation.
I mean, it's an obvious, ridiculous security breach, and, you know, if you notice, he didn't actually answer the question.
All right, so this is the story, right?
They were using the encrypted messaging app known as Signal via these phones that they were in possession of.
Apparently, it was...
Pete Hegseth, the Secretary of Defense, Vice President J.D. Vance, and other high-level cabinet members discussing war plans, quote-unquote, of how they were going to go about, you know, executing this strike against Houthis, who are endangering the shipping lanes there in, I believe it's the Strait of Hormuz is the name.
But what's interesting, in fact, check me if I'm wrong on that, I'm pretty sure that's it.
What's interesting about all this, A, is that people are making some very just interesting observations surrounding this whole debacle, right?
I guess, where do we even begin?
Well, somebody was very fastidious in pointing out that...
The app itself was preloaded onto phones that were issued to these high-ranking members of the Trump cabinet, and that is the first thing that is pretty interesting to note, that they themselves didn't download these apps.
These apps were preloaded, and it seems as though there may have been some sort of, I don't know, Back doors that were left open, if you know what I mean.
And the intelligence agency, I believe, is the one, the outgoing administration, I'm sure, had a hand in all of this, I would imagine, if I was guessing.
That's the first sort of inclination for most to look at.
But beyond that, I mean, think of this person, right?
Jeffrey Goldberg.
Okay, who is Jeffrey Goldberg?
Well, he is the, I believe he's the editor.
The chief editor over at The Atlantic.
He's the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic.
Now, if you guys don't know what The Atlantic is, The Atlantic is a publication that is now owned by the widow of Steve Jobs, who is, to say that she's vitriolically liberal is almost an understatement.
She's a hardcore, you know, elitist, you know, Multi-multi-millionaire.
I don't even know.
She might be a billionaire.
She inherited a large sum of money from Steve Jobs after he passed away.
She used that money to endeavor upon her furtherance of the liberal progressive regressive agenda.
And this publication, mind you, The Atlantic, has been responsible for so many fake news stories over the last, I don't know, Ten years, roughly, give or take, maybe a little less, that it has completely discredited itself in every way, shape, and form you could imagine, right?
Nobody takes the Atlantic seriously.
They publish stories.
One of their famously published stories was basically calling the epidemic of child sex trafficking fake.
And what was interesting is shortly after that, After that article was published, people noted and pointed out the fact that the owner, Steve Jobs' widow, I want to try to remember her name.
I'll have to find it because I have it somewhere.
But she just so happened to be really good friends and is pictured in bikinis with Ghislaine Maxwell sharing cocktails and having a laugh by the pool.
But her organization, of course, published not just that, trying to quote-unquote debunk the child sex trafficking epidemic, which, interesting when you're bedfellows with Ghislaine Maxwell to be trying to debunk that particular story, given what we know now about Epstein and Maxwell and all of the black male sex operative stuff that was going on there.
But beyond that, The Atlantic has published all kinds of lies.
They published the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax, the very fine people hoax, the, you know, you could go down the list.
They've published and ran with every single fake news narrative trying to hurt Trump and the MAGA movement since Trump came on the scene, practically, right?
So this is the organization now that has supposedly received a front seat to the intermachinations of the Trump administration's war planning in the Middle East.
Huh. That's a strange thing, isn't it?
Jeffrey Goldberg.
That's an interesting name.
We'll look more into his background in this Atlantic publication in this article when we come back.

And we're talking about this story.
It's kind of taken over the airwaves.
The idea that this editor-in-chief from The Atlantic magazine published an article detailing these...
seemingly private messages between the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, and the Vice President, J.D.
Vance, and other top cabinet officials discussing what they deem and call war plans for attacks against the Houthi rebels in the Middle East, who are openly acting as a threat toward free shipping lanes, open shipping lanes.
They're effectively executing these attacks on the maritime lanes there, and that's triggered Trump to basically step in and intervene.
And this whole thing is predicated on a situation where the intelligence officials and high-ranking cabinet members were given...
And somehow, someway, in a large group chat that was taking place, a man by the name of Jeffrey Goldberg got included.
Now, not only did he get included in this chat, but it seemed to be a chat where they were discussing tactics and strategies and battle plans.
And he was included in a way where he was able to observe everything that was happening.
And then he decides to turn around and go to the press and write this piece on the intermachinations of the dynamic there between Trump's Secretary of Defense and Vice President and Trump himself, what negotiations were looking like and what strategies and tactics looked like, etc.
So, as we heard earlier, He, in his own words, decided to stop short of actually publishing war plans, you know, that would deliberately make U.S. troops vulnerable to attack, which, I mean, it's like, you know, back in the day, like, I mean, just to take this to a step back, right?
These people hate Trump so much that they're willing to publish this stuff that they know they shouldn't publish.
If that makes sense, right?
Like, for instance, nobody's saying that Jeffrey Goldberg can't publish this, but if he had a shred or a modicum of decency, honor, or integrity, he would have told the people in the chat, hey, you accidentally included me in this chat, so please take me out of it, because I don't belong here, and I'm gonna not report what I just saw, but...
I don't want to be a part of this.
I should not be here.
I do not have the security clearance.
I do not have the authorization.
I am not supposed to be here.
And further, as it would pertain to making our country more vulnerable to foreign allies and enemies, I will...
Relinquish myself from reporting on this story because it's not in the best interest of the American public for me to denigrate our commander-in-chief, etc., etc., etc.
That would be if Jeffrey Goldberg had a shred or a modicum of decency, integrity, or honor.
But of course, slimy, low-life, scum-sucking, fake news, lying propagandists tend not to have those qualities or traits.
Therefore, his first incline.
So let me take this information and use it for a personal and ideological vendetta I have against the administration to undermine not only their ability to effectively govern, but to also hurt them on an individual basis.
Again, he had a choice.
He made the wrong one, clearly.
But, you know, he'll go and fight and say, oh, well, I'm a journalist.
And, you know, see, in a normal world, I would be like, okay, I get it.
You're a journalist and you report on the news.
Good for you.
But if you take into account the track record of him and his publication, right?
His publication, which he oversees as editor-in-chief, the lies that they've reportedly spewed, the hoaxes that they've reportedly reported on as being true and real.
And the disregard of exculpatory evidence that comes out, the disregard for the truth that they've exhibited in the past, then you have a track pattern from which you can sort of extrapolate, okay, I see where the trajectory is heading on this, and I understand what his intention and motivation was in doing it.
It was to hurt Trump.
Now, that's just the sort of, you know, 40,000 foot naivete.
Naivete-less view, right?
Like, I'm naively giving him even the benefit of the doubt, and that's the best-case scenario for how this all played out, if that makes sense, right?
Because in that scenario, you know, a snake is going to be a snake.
It's that old story that Trump told all the time, right?
Where the woman takes in the snake, and she nurses it back to health.
And then she's getting ready to let it go, and it turns around and bites her, and she says, oh, well, why did you bite me?
And the snake basically says, well, I'm a snake, and you should have never let me in.
Because a snake is going to be a snake is going to be a snake, right?
So we shouldn't be surprised by this behavior, but that's like the most naive and best scenario for all of this, right?
That he is just an unscrupulous, despicable human being who has no integrity and no honor and no decency, and so he opportunistically saw a chance to hurt Trump, to hurt America, and he took it because that's what he does, right? That's his M.O. That's how he makes a living.

Is that her name?
Yeah. The majority owner of the Atlantic, who is famously pictured, bikini clad, on a bed, sitting next to Ghislaine Maxwell, one of her best friends, right?
If you'll famously recall, or infamously recall, is Jeffrey Epstein's girlfriend, and partner in crime, and submarining captain, submariner captain.
So, think about it this way, right?
Goldberg, again, gets included in this chat, presumably accidentally.
That's the most naive and best case scenario for him.
But then it gets a little bit deeper.
And we had somebody text in and say, good morning, I believe the Jeff clip is intentional.
That's where it gets interesting.

But, so, they basically go out, and that's the best case scenario.
Now, where it gets a little bit dicey is, you know, there's two options, okay?
Accidental, there's three options, but the two other options beyond that are more nefarious.
The accidental one is the least nefarious and the most optimistic, if you will.
Now the two other options are as follows.
Either A, Jeff Goldberg was brought into this conversation intentionally to Give him information in the hopes that he would leak that information to the press.
It's a very plausible and very realistic possibility, right?
Because if you understand, you know, any sort of battle tactics, psychological warfare, etc., in the art of war, propaganda is very important.
And just because these people are propagandists doesn't mean you can't use them.
What do you call them?
Useful idiots.
Jeffrey Goldberg would categorically fit that mold as a useful idiot who could have been intentionally brought in, quote-unquote, accidentally, so that he could get this information, put it in the press, get it out to the public, as a way of signaling to perhaps our allies or others that this attack was coming.
For whatever number of reasons you can imagine, right?
Anything from the idea that it was to signal to our European allies that we're unhappy with the situation and we're going to be taking action, right?
All the way up to...
You know, a deception, right?
A tactic of deceit, you know, and trying to sort of perhaps psychologically intimidate our enemies.
Warfare, right?
Who knows?
Could be anything.
We're not sure.
But we do know this.
That's one option.
Now, the other option, which is even more nefarious than that, would be a scenario whereby...
Factions within our government that are leave-behind sleeper-type cells, which exist and have existed, are now working their way through the system to cause havoc, chaos, and subterfuge in and amongst the inner workings of the Trump administration.
Sort of like gremlins, if you will.
If you've ever seen that famous 1980s or 90s, I think it was 80s movie, in the same sense that gremlins get into the inner workings of systems and disrupt things, perhaps this is an example of that.
Perhaps... The fact that these phones that were issued by, presumably, the intelligence community to these top-ranking officials were preloaded with these signal apps could indicate that there was, in fact, some preplanned operation to wait until a time such as this to create a scandal.
That could be used to hurt or hinder the Trump administration in their, you know, foreign diplomacy because it goes against what foreign diplomacy had been established by previous administrations that were corrupt and wrongly and fraudulently installed through a coup.
Perhaps. Okay.
Well, that's one option.
Actually, now there's a third option that I think about.
I guess the third option does exist.
Where if the intelligence agencies could have done that by preloading the apps, preloading some backdoor, taking that backdoor, opening access, putting this guy on the chat, doing the whole thing, you know, in a sabotage-type way, saboteurs, if you will, that it would stand and reason that that...
Capability may exist with our enemies, right?
Perhaps Russia or some other foreign force, China, or perhaps some of our quote-unquote allies who are not happy with what's happening there decided to use Jeffrey, you know, and I would never want to mention our greatest ally because they surely would never be capable of such a thing, but perhaps they would be.
Israel, that is.
Perhaps there was some nefarious motive there.
Perhaps Israel's not happy with the U.S. response.
Perhaps Israel either wanted this response to be more severe, or they wanted to embarrass the people behind it because they were trying to extrapolate some sort of gain from it.
One thing that's made clear in these text messages, if you review them, at least what was published, is, for instance, I'll give you a bit of it here.
In response to Pete Hegseth, one of the cabinet officials says that the president was clear in the fact that he wanted to make the move so that it made it clear to Egypt and Europe what they expect in return.
Namely, further economic gain extracted in return for this defense.
That was provided.
So perhaps some faction in Europe or Egypt didn't like that and wanted this leaked because they're monitoring and observing what's happening on these apps.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Any number of possibilities exist.
This is warfare after all.

We're talking about this leaked signal messaging conversation which supposedly outlined tactics and strategies reported by one of the most corrupt and fake news organizations out there,
The Atlantic, which seemingly had their editor-in-chief somehow brought into a confidential and presumably classified I think?
conversations which he was not welcome and that had obviously information that was harmful to national security he decides to take that information and go to the press and publish it immediately which know It tells you a couple things, right?
I think this is what lends itself most to the theory that this guy was brought in intentionally.
Because, honestly, to even imagine a world...
Most reporters, even some of the slimier ones, would have immediately been like, hey guys, I'm on this chat.
I should not be on here.
Right? But if you take a guy from the most corrupt, nefarious, slimy, Well, there's a high probability that that information is going to be public.
Now, it lends itself that he was brought in intentionally.
Now, whether that was intentionally by our side or intentionally by some other force that exists, as I was saying before the break, some of the texts that were leaked and reported on in the story allude to What President Trump seemed to make clear to his administration officials,
which was that if the U.S. is going to be intervening in this shipping lane dispute to secure these maritime passages on behalf of pretty much all countries, to ensure that every nation is given this route of free trade through the Middle East,
That without being harassed or assaulted or attacked by these Houthi rebels, which are backed by Iran, which is backed by Russia, which we're at war at, unfortunately.
Basically, it stands to reason that Trump asked for something in return, saying basically, hey, there needs to be some further economic gain extracted in return.
Which is what the American people wanted, if I recall correctly, right?
Which is that we don't want to endlessly and needlessly spend our treasure and blood, particularly in these foreign conflicts that don't necessarily concern us, right?
Because as much as we surely gain from free trade in that region, it probably benefits our allies and our enemies even more.
What real...
And for us to send carriers and soldiers and troops and planes and everything else to this region to fight against these rebels, well, you would imagine, just as Trump made clear with certain treaties like NATO, well, if you're not paying your fair share, if we're not gaining anything from this endeavor, then what are we doing here?
We're the sucker.
As Trump would famously say.
So, this is basically an interesting scenario playing itself out, particularly given who's involved.
Now, I don't know exactly who is or is not in this, but apparently, according to our friend in the 970, they said, scenario four, it was aliens, bro.
I guess that's a blind spot I hadn't accounted for.
You know, it's the famous ancient aliens guy saying, I'm not saying it was aliens, but aliens.
No, I don't know.
I do think, though, that it's interesting to hear the responses, right, from those who are involved.
Here's President Trump when asked about this issue.
President, you're reacting to the story in the Atlantic that said that some of your top academy officials and aides have been discussing very sensitive material through SIGL and included an Atlantic reporter for that.
What is your response to that in our case?
I don't know anything about it.
I'm not a big fan of The Atlantic.
To me, it's a magazine that's going out of business.
I think it's not much of a magazine, but I know nothing about it.
You're saying that they had what?
They were using signal to coordinate on sensitive materials.
Having to do with what?
Having to do with what?
What were they talking about?
The Houthis.
The Houthis?
You mean the attack on the Houthis?
Well, it couldn't have been very effective because the attack was very effective, I can tell you that.
I don't know anything about it.
You're telling me about it for the first time.

And when they did shoot back, it was purely defensively or at shacks in Yemen.
President Trump said, no more.
We will reestablish deterrence.
We will open freedom of navigation.
And we will ultimately decimate the Houthis, which is exactly what we're doing.
As we speak, from the beginning, overwhelmingly.
Why were those details shared on Signal, and how did you learn that a journalist was privy to the targets, the types of weapons used?
I've heard I was characterized, nobody was texting war plans, and that's all I have to say about that.

Pete Haig says that nobody was texting war plans and that this was a deceitful and highly discredited journalist, so-called journalist, he says.
I think the situation is speaking for itself, though.
The more I hear everything play out, it's one of those two scenarios.
Either, I mean, I think this was given intentionally.
Now, whether it was on our side, given intentionally to send as a signal to our allies or our enemies that we were going to make this move so that there wasn't some, you know, we were confident enough to tell them we were coming, you know?
Equivalent to Babe Ruth pointing to the stands before he hit a home run.
Or it was our enemies.
Both, either domestic, abroad, or both, working to undermine and sabotage Trump's efforts in that region.

members. Remember that back in the Antifa BLM heyday?

Ayanna Pressley and what's her name?
Rashida Tlaib.
And of course, how could I forget, Ilhan Omar, the radical Somali from Minnesota, which it's like you go, Somalis in Minnesota?
Yep, that's what they do.
That's how they have infiltrated and tried to overthrow our government from within.
They need radicals in Congress who are willing to represent their will.
This was all a plan that was laid forth.
I actually have clips that explain that.
Suffice it to say that this Jasmine Crockett woman has been making a name for herself.
Now, beyond the clear comparison to every airheaded, moronic person that she resembles in both appearance and character, she is a representation of a legitimate form of the electorate, which, unfortunately for us, is in fact real.
These are, let's just say, low intelligence, low IQ, very easily manipulated and malleable puppets that are used by very nefarious people to affect means to an end that they want to see.
That's Jasmine Crockett, in a nutshell.
And that's like the nicest possible way I could put it, to be quite frank, because...
The more you listen to this woman speak, and the more you listen, she reminds me of a young Maxine Waters.
That's who she reminds me of.
She's like Maxine Waters, who, if you don't know, she's the Democrat senator?
Representative? One of the two.
Who has been famous for her, you know, very stupid quotes and We have a young Maxine Waters in the making and Jasmine Crockett, who's now understanding how to work the media.
And this is something that's so dangerous, I think.
You know, a lot of people will blame Trump for this phenomena.
They'll say, you know, this is sort of something that Trump started.
But, of course, as with everything, when necessity...
When necessity breeds innovation, right, you can count on the progressive-regressive left to take it beyond innovation and into exploitation, if that makes sense,
right? So like Trump, the necessity for somebody to speak truth to power created an innovator like Trump who came out and not only he flipped the script and started not only Saying the quiet part out loud,
but then acting upon it in a way that was helpful, positive, and productive toward the ends of reestablishing our constitutional republic, per how it had been destroyed, infiltrated, and corrupted by elements that have very demonic and dark influence.
And, of course, Democrats, as I described in yesterday's show to a degree, have seen and adapted and this...
You know, strategy and taking it to the next level because that's what they do.
They go beyond innovation into the realm of exploitation and that's all this is, right?
People who use the sort of mechanisms that exist in and have been created through social media and the internet to create artificial notoriety.
Right? To artificially inflate themselves and their standing amongst others.
This is what all of these people, you know, AOC, all these younger, particularly it seems to be younger female air-headed congresswomen on both sides, honestly, who have deployed this tactic of You know,
you got to remember, these people sit down with PR firms, they have, you know, focus groups, and even beyond that, they test strategies and understand social, they have social media teams that understand, you know, viral marketing, etc., etc., and they understand that,
you know, part of, it's sort of like how Howard Stern became famous in the 90s, you know, with the shock jock radio sort of persona, right, where he would get on there and do these, Shocking things, which would give him notoriety, which helped boost his platform, which inevitably...
It didn't matter how disgusting and despicable and deplorable it all was, right?
I'm using that word deplorable in the true sense of the word.
It was about getting people, whether by interest or shock value, to come and listen to what you have to say.
And that's what they're doing.
That's what Jasmine Crockett's doing.
Now she's coming out, and essentially she's calling for violence.
She's saying, you know, take down Elon Musk.
We have to hurt them.
We have to physically attack them.
Which reminds me of, you know, Maxine Waters.
You know, if you see them in public, get in their face, make a crowd, make a scene, push back on them.
Well, that's a call for violence, right?
So this is what they're doing, and she's sort of mastering this.
Strategy. I'll play a couple clips when we come back, and I'll give you kind of the breakdown of it all.
But that's what we're seeing.
And it's dangerous because it's going to lead, and it has already led, to people getting hurt in the real world, but they don't care because they're self-serving, selfish people who really have a complete and total, a sociopathic level of disregard for human life.

But the other thing is, I mean, the clear and obvious thing, she is literally engaging in a call to violence, saying, we need to hit him, knock him over the head, hit him hard.
And of course, forgive this grammar because this is a sitting congresswoman.
Like, there is no niceties with him.
Like, oh, you go clean off on him.
Okay, thanks, congresswoman.
But, see, like I've said, these people have perfected the art of deception.
And they amplify their own persona and profile by engaging in more egregious Violations of cultural norms that then draws more attention to them and their cause.
So it's sort of this self-fulfilling prophecy.

To myself, when I start seeing this woman become popular, start the countdown clock to when some scandal takes her down, right?
Some embezzling, some fraud, some staffer that's, you know, taking hundreds of thousands of dollars from lobbyists, something.

He was so concerned about national security.
He didn't publish what was heard, but he went running to CNN.

Of course.
These are real patriots we're dealing with here, Henry.
They really love this country.
Yeah, they only have the best interests of their careers in mind.
A lot of self-serving individuals out there where we get into the fake news.
And it's kind of a thing that is...
Repeating itself over and over again.
I think there's an effort, obviously, and it's like, oh, you figured this out all by yourself, Craig, but I think there's an effort to take down Trump, right?
And I think it's clear.
I mean, I don't know.
I think it's coming from all sides.
You know, it's both here domestically, internally, but it's also externally from foreign adversaries.
So that could have come from anywhere.
But I do think that there's definitely an effort.
And it's just, it's funny how, like we were just saying, it's like they present themselves as patriots, right?
They love their country so much that they opportunistically seize on any chance they can to, you know, deride and defame and destroy those who are running it.
It's really a patriotic thing.
Yeah, nothing says patriotism like promoting violence, you know?
Oh, yeah, well, Jasmine Crockett, you know, she's the best example.
We just went through it with her.
I mean, and I see this happening, and I understand why they're doing it, right?
Where they come from, because they see a system that they can exploit, so they're going to exploit it.
I get a little disheartened sometimes, Henry, when I see people continually falling for it, you know?
Maybe I'm falling.
Henry, am I falling for it too?
Because I'm reporting on this story.
I think that's the whole point.
She gets enough people to mention her name by saying these horrific things.
But if you don't mention her name, it's almost a disservice to the public because you have to call out this kind of behavior.
It's a catch-22.
Yeah, you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't.
I mean, because I have the same...
I see the same thing on social media all the time.
There is a part of me that's like, why do you keep putting these clips of these people up?
Why do you keep giving them FaceTime?
Why do you keep putting their message and stuff out there?
Just ignore them.
But you can't do that either because you've got to know what's happening.
You've got to be informed.
And I think, like you said, it's a catch-22.
You know, exposing these people for what they are is important.
People have to know what's going on out there.
People have to know what the enemies of this nation and, quite frankly, the enemies of God, in some sense, are doing.
Because I heard this on another interview, and I don't know if it was your show or if it was somebody else's show, but this isn't Trump derangement syndrome.
This is God derangement syndrome.
There is no part of God that is in any of this on both sides.
And I thought, you know, Pastor Miller's message yesterday was awesome, was extremely important, because he questioned, who are we all and what are we all trusting in?
Are we trusting in God or are we trusting in other things?
And I think that's a really important question for all of us to have a good, long, hard look in the mirror.
And try to answer.
Because I think depending on what that answer is, will tell us where we stand and why our hearts and minds are operating in the modes that they're operating in.
Because it was really interesting that that message came across yesterday, because over the weekend, I was listening to Dr. Martin Lloyd-Jones.
He's an old-time theologian, and he preached a sermon.
And I would encourage your listeners, everybody who's listening, to listen to these two messages back-to-back.

Henry, we got cut off by the break, but I really liked where you were going, and I'd like you to pick up where you left off, you and mine.
Sure, absolutely.
And again, I want to give all credit where credit is due.
This is all coming off of Mart Lloyd-Jones' message, But God.
And what he talks about.
And it's based on Ephesians.
And when you read the beginning of Ephesians 2, you know, Paul talks about, you know, when we're dead in trespasses and sins, you know, we did this and we did that and we walked in this way and we walked in that way.
And then he gets to verse 4 and he goes, but God, right?
And that's kind of what, when you apply that to the things we were just talking about, all the things that are going on in the world, all the things that are going on in this nation, in other nations.
You know, we talk about everything that's going on, and what we have to do as Christians understand that, yeah, this is going on, and that's going on, but God, right?
And but God is the hope, right?
When the world has said everything it's going to say, and it's exhausted itself trying to find solutions to all these issues, that's where the message of the gospel kicks in.
Because the but part of that, part in Ephesians, is about the hope of God.
And the bottom line here is that the only hope in the world is the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus, the Christ.
This includes everything.
Every institution, every world organization, every world leader, everything and everyone.
I know people are going, well, you know, you're exaggerating.
No, I'm not exaggerating.
The only hope that this world has is the gospel of Christ, the plan of salvation that God laid out before the foundation of the world.
The gospel alone is the only thing that understands what's gone haywire in the world.
And the word, the Bible, is the thing that has The solution to every one of these issues.
Every one of them.
If you're looking for an answer to your problems, whether it's personal or it's on a much grander scale, the Bible is the thing that has the solution to these problems.
And Martin Lloyd-Jones talked about, this is really interesting to me, because I was born in 62, so I'm on the back half of the 20th century.
And he said, you know, the 20th century was supposed to be this greatest century that...
That the world had ever seen.
There were all these advancements and all these things happening, and they were starting to call it the golden century.
Well, look at what they faced, right?
Two world wars, Great Depression, Korean and Vietnam Wars, Holocaust, millions killed under communism, and I'm just scratching the surface.
That's just off the top of my head.
The golden generation, or the golden century, or the thing that was supposed to be the golden century, produced all those things.
Why? Right?
Why? Why?
And why still?
Why is there still a threat of war?
Why is there still a breakdown of marriage?
Why are we having so many issues with our youth today?
Right? Why is there such a decline in morality?
What's the cause?
Right? Well, the gospel gives us the answer.
And if you go to Ephesians, right?
Ephesians 2, beginning at verse 1, it says, And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience,
among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, What Paul's describing there are things that are spiritually dead, right? Walking in the ways of the world.
And it's the same issue today.
It's the same issue that Paul faced.
It's the same issue that Martin Louis Jones preached about.
And it's the same thing We face today, right?
God derangement syndrome.
Taking God out of everything.
If we don't have any consideration of God in the day-to-day, we're just doing what everybody else does, right?
We do, and I would love to change the language here.
Everybody says we're just like sheep.
We follow, you know, we follow everything everybody else does.
Well, in the Bible, the sheep belong to Christ.
It's the goats that are the issues.
I'd love to flip that.
But, you know, we, you know, Martin Lloyd George, and this is so interesting because he pointed this out in his message, and this was back in, you know, I don't know the date of this sermon particularly, but way before I was born, or shortly thereafter, he said, you know, we live according to what we see on TV.
And I adapted it to what we hear on podcasts, what we read on social media.
And we lose the ability to think for ourselves.
And this is a quote from his sermon.
He said, the bulk of mankind, its mind and its thinking and its outlook and its behavior is being governed by just a handful of very powerful men who own the newspapers, the televisions, and the radio and the cinema.
This whole thing and this problem, he saw the issues and the root of it way back then.
And it's the same now.
It just changes, right?
They just own the social media companies, and they own the mainstream media.
But it's the same modus operandi.
And what's at the root of it, right?
What determines how the world works?
Verse 2 tells us.
The prince of the power of the air.
The spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience.
Satan is the one that controls the course of this world.
And that's really serious.
And again, that's not an exaggeration.
Because you have two options.
You have God, or you have...
The enemy, Satan, the devil.
There's no gray area in between there.
There's no straddling the fence.
So, if we are not considering the things of God in the things that we're doing, then what's the obvious answer?
What's in control?
Paul tells us.
It's the enemy.
It's Satan.
And it isn't just the ways and the mind of the world, right?
It's not just the fact about the owners of the mainstream media and the social media companies, right?
Those people who don't consider God, again, Martin Lloyd-Jones' words, they're just dupes and instruments of something much more serious.
Right? Whether they realize it or not, they are under control of the enemy.
Right? The God of this world.
The one that threw this whole thing into chaos back in Genesis 3. The one that's had...
I just was going to interject real quick that, you know, as I'm listening to you explain this, it strikes me that, you know, this is why...
It's frustrating for us as Christians sometimes, you know, to see God removed from everything, right?
The God derangement syndrome, I really think that's an accurate way of describing this push toward removing God from everything.
But, I mean, we have to remind ourselves as well that, like, everything you're describing, you know, when you say that these people are the dupes, like the useful idiots, right, who are self-serving, but they become that way.
You become that way on a personal level, right?
When you do not have that relationship with God, right?
And I was talking about this yesterday, that people will try to fill that void that exists within us all, right, with everything this world has to offer, whether it's money or drugs, alcohol, you know, women, you name it, the lust of the flesh, everything.
You will try to fill that void with any and everything you can.
But it ultimately all falls short and you still feel empty.
And I kind of made this point.
I was on a podcast yesterday where, you know, let's say you get the thing that you desire the most.
If you've ever had this encounter, maybe you've had it, Henry, maybe somebody out there listening has.
I know I have.
When you're not focused on God and you get the thing you desire the most, let's say it's money.
You're after money.
And you get the money.
You're like, oh man, I got it.
I got my money.
I'm doing good.
Is it ever enough?
Is a million dollars enough?
If I gave you a million dollars tomorrow, would that be enough?
Or without that humility that you received from a relationship with God, it wouldn't.
And I know this because I've not only seen it in people I know in their lives, but I've experienced it to a lesser degree in my life where I got what I wanted and it was never enough.
But the only thing that's ever been able to fill me up is Fully is my relationship with God through His Son, Jesus.
And I think that's how you get these people who are...
This is why our society encourages the removal of God, the separation, they say, of church and state, which is ultimately their cover for going...
It was originally supposed to be a protection of the church.
Now it's an excuse to remove the church and remove God because you are controllable.
You are a...
A malleable, controllable servant of the dark lord, Lucifer, Satan, whatever you want to call him, when you do not have that connection with God.
And I think that's what you're hitting on.
And that was all I wanted to say.
No, I think, yeah, it doesn't mean that these people are gathering in a satanic temple and, you know...
No, absolutely not.
That type of thing.
They are literally just doing things, serving themselves, and it is a part of what we learn as Christians through the teachings of our Lord not to do.
And the reason not to do it is because we will end up in these positions that they're in.
And if you think having all the money in the world will make you happy, I grew up with a lot of very wealthy people.
A lot of my friends were extremely wealthy.
The majority of those people, if not all, were the most unhappy people I knew.
Anecdotal, I understand, but it's an observation.
Well, you just keep chasing it because, as you said, you find out that the things of the world, you get one thing, that's not enough, then you're moving on to the next thing, and that's not enough, and you're moving on to the next thing, and that's not enough.
And part of that is pride.
Part of that comes from a heart and a mind thinking that, well, I've done all these things, I've worked really hard, I deserve this.
And the Bible tells us the only thing that we deserve in our sin is death.
The only way we get life is through the sacrifice of the Christ on the cross and His resurrection.
And I know I'm being very black and white today, which drives my wife absolutely crazy at times, but when it comes to this particular subject, That's what we're talking about.
We're talking about life and death, right?
Because when all this is over and we're all standing before the judgment seat, we're going to have to answer for what we've done, what we've said, what we felt in our hearts.
But the bottom line is going to be, are we covered by the blood of Jesus?
And have our sins been forgiven by our acceptance of this great gift of salvation?
Depending on that answer.
Yeah, I agree.
Depending on the answer, a lot of things will come together.

I'm your host, Craig James, with our guest, Henry Loke.
And Henry, you know, I really think this conversation is important.
I always like to recenter my focus back to Christ in this job that I'm doing here because a lot of times it's so easy to get lost into the day-to-day, you know, sort of struggle of trying to understand, you know, what's happening in this fallen world.
But it is so important.
You know, often to reconcile this truth that you're sort of sharing based on sort of these sermons and your observations and the truth of the gospel.
And I just think that to me, you know, what we've seen happen in this world is people are being removed from God intentionally because it makes them easily deceived.
They always say, right, it's sort of a cliched saying, but they say, you know, the devil's greatest trick is to convince you he doesn't exist, right?
Well, I think another way to think of that saying is, what's the devil's greatest trick is to convince you God doesn't exist.
Because if God doesn't exist, then he doesn't exist, and none of it exists.
And then you live in this sort of moral ambiguity, this world where moral relativism becomes your compass, where it's all relative to how you feel.
There is no right or wrong per se.
There's just my truth versus your truth.
And this is where people get, I think, their judgments clouded, and they lose sight of the truth.
And that's why we talk about Scripture.
That's why we talk about Jesus.
We talk about the Gospel.
We talk about He gave us.
Not only the sacrifice of our lifetime, the eternal salvation through His sacrifice on the cross, but through the Scripture, the divinely inspired Word, He gave us the understanding of right and wrong and how to interpret this world and understand it, right? Yeah, exactly.
God never does anything without giving us the tools to work through.
The things he wants us to do are the things he wants us to understand.
But I think I'm going to add a third one to that list of the dangerous things that Satan does.
The other thing he does is he convinces us we're good people.
I'm a good person.
I'm not hurting anybody.
I'm not doing anything wrong.
You know, I'm not cheating on my wife.
I'm good to my kids.
I got a good job.
I'm supporting them.
You know, so I'm a good person.
I'm fine.
I'm fine.
Everything's good.
The thing that's missing in that is that you're still sinful, right?
If you go back to the Old Testament, look at the law that God laid out to be handed down to Moses.
You find that nobody can live up to that.
And so even in our best days, we still sin.
We still fall.
And that sin has to be accounted for.
But if you think you're a good person, right, that pride kind of creeps in.
It's like, you know, I'm good.
It's all good.
I don't need religion.
I don't need church.
I'm a good guy.
I got it covered.
And that's as big a danger, I think, as the other things, because then you fall into the trap, and then, you know, Romans 1...
Verse 20 says, So it doesn't matter how well you live your life.
If you don't have Christ and if you have not accepted Him, your sin's not accounted for.
And that's going to be a big deal come Judgment Day.
I couldn't agree more.

Yeah, just being very black and white, but that's the way it is.
That message is throughout all of Scripture.

My observation of the, let's call it the modern church, the Ten Commandments, number one, you shall have no other gods before me.
Number two, you shall make no idols.
So ever since 5013Cs came into power, how is the church, and I'm looking for guidance on this, how is the church not being hypocritical?
By taking a 5013C, which the vast majority of churches are, and not placing money before God.
That's really my observation, and I'm kind of confused about how the church is not being hypocritical by taking this and trying to find a non-501C3.
It's very difficult.
So let me ask you, Henry, or excuse me, not Henry, Blake, can I just ask you real quick to further expand just briefly on that?
Because are you suggesting that the tax-exempt status makes them somehow morally hypocritical?
Absolutely. They're putting money before God.
Well, how is that putting money before God?
And I'm not saying this antagonistically.
I genuinely am trying to understand what your point is.
And I'm trying to understand the reverse of this, too.
Okay. I get it.
The churches, in my opinion, are being run more as a business than a church.
This is the modern church I'm talking about.
The old school churches, you went to a place to really worship.
And the churches are being run like businesses as far as I'm concerned.
And my question is, why are the churches that take the 5013C benefits not being hypocritical?
Let me ask you this hypothetical real quick.
If a church, let's say they have a 5013C, right, so they don't pay taxes, right?
The government's taking taxpayer dollars and putting it toward, let's say, abortion.
Church is like, I don't want to do that.
It's against what my church is founded on, what the gospel says.
So we don't pay you to do things that are against what we believe.
How is that hypocritical on their part?
Well, first of all, there's very few...

There are very few churches that actually come out and talk about things that matter.
Now, the question is, the question that I have is, all right, so you're a 5013C church.
You get the benefits from that.
And you're also saying you're...
You're still operating that church like a business.

You're not hiding behind the 5013C, let's say, but you're taking the benefits from it.
And in my opinion, the modern church is borderline hypocritical by putting money in front of See, I agree with you.
I tend to want to agree with you in the sense that there are churches that exist that are profit over people that are run like businesses.
So I understand that point.
But I think when you say the modern church, it's sort of, you're giving a very broad statement of like...
That could mean anything.
Literally, if I had a ministry that I had, would that be the modern church?

And we had a great question before the break.
I want to get Henry's response real quick, but I do want to reframe it for anybody who's just joining us, perhaps.
We were asked about 5013Cs and how...
It isn't a hypocrisy for a church to use that.
Now, I think what he was referring to, Henry, perhaps, and I don't want to put words into his mouth, especially since he's not on the line anymore, but was the idea that when you accept 5013C, or C3, whichever one it is, status as a church...
You actually agree to the principle or to the rule that you cannot become politically active, if that makes sense.
So that a church, in order to have that status, cannot advocate legally on behalf of political causes.
So that restricts their free speech, which means they're basically saying that they will not engage in certain speech.
To protect their status, to protect their tax-exempt status.
And I think that might be what he was alluding to.
Yeah, I think, well, I think a couple of things.
One is, that provision about not speaking out against politics, somebody correct me if I'm wrong, because I'm not versed on the history of the 501c3 thing.
But I think that was added by Lyndon Johnson, because there was a pastor in Texas that was raking him over the coals.
And I think that got added later on in the process.
Yeah, I think you're right.
Somebody needs to fact check me on that because I'm not sure.
But I think in the end, because the feeding station is a 501c3, I think it all comes down to what's your church doing with the money, right?
And I'm just going to speak about churches particularly because, you know, that's what we're talking about.
You know, what's the church doing with the money?
And what's the message that they're preaching?
The church I went to that got shut down during COVID, we preached Bible-based messages.
We didn't take a collection.
We had boxes in the back.
If you wanted to donate, you could donate.
And all the money went to running the church.
And we did, you know, meals on a Wednesday for the homeless.
And those less off, and those types of things.
That's where the money went.
And so I was the worship leader and the assistant pastor up there.
I knew where things were going.
We didn't push for money.
That's in part why we shut down, because the congregation dwindled down, and the contributions dried up, and we had run our race for the gospel.
And so it just was time.
I think it depends on what's the message.
You know, if you're preaching prosperity gospel and you're living in a mansion, you know, with a pool and three cars and that kind of thing, I think there's a question there.
I'm not judging anybody who does that.
I will say that the prosperity gospel, that's a false teaching.
But everybody lives their lives.
They're going to have to deal with God on that.
And so, you know, when I look at a baseline for the church, my baseline is Acts.
What did that church, They were taking things in, and they were distributing everything that they got to make sure that those in need had no need.
And so that's the way the church should be operating.
Yeah, that was kind of my point when I was like, when you say the modern church, I know what he meant with like, it's from this point forward, but...
I also think what you're saying is important.
If we look at each individual church, then we can see what are they doing, and you judge a tree by its fruit, right?
So what is each individual church producing?
So real quick, Henry, because we don't have that much time.
We have one more caller who's been waiting patiently.
I want to bring him on real quick and see what they have to say.

Yeah, for me it all boils down to people are afraid of love.
They're afraid to receive love from other people and from God.
They're afraid to give love to other people and to God.
And you've got to conquer that fear of love and your life will change for the better.
I love it.
Why do you think that is?
That's a good point.
Why do you think they're afraid of love?
What do you think drives that fear?
That's a good question.
I don't know.
It's hard to take that first step.
Once you take that first step, though, it makes it easier.
But, you know, you stand on the edge, and it looks like it's a long ways down, I guess.
But it's not really.
You've got to just take that first step.
Do you think there's a part of it that is thinking that we don't deserve it?
Yeah, probably.
Yeah, well, I think, you know, the message, From a gospel perspective is that God loves us.
And even in our sins, even when we were dead in our trespasses and sins, Christ died for us.
So no greater love, as he said, no greater love can be shown than a friend giving up his life for a friend.
And that's what Jesus did for us.
Even when we were dead in our trespasses and sins, he went to the cross.
That's a great amount of love that is shown.
And I think if we can start with that, maybe we can grow from there.
Great question.
Yeah, I mean, is it first or second, John, where it says, you know, we love because he first loved us, right?
Yep, yep, yep.

Yeah, I think that's the thing.
We have to know that we're loved.

Two things.
One, with the last two callers particularly, concerning love.
If the world is telling you you have to be a certain way, like the things that they were talking about, especially that last caller.
You know, the world says you've got to be this way, you've got to be that, and you can't be weak.
You know, if you show love, you're weak.
The things of the world, again, are the things of home, the things of the enemy.
And Scripture tells us God is love.
So remember that, right?
When it comes to being loved and loving, God is love.
And love is a major centerpiece of the things of God.
Lastly, we've talked about a lot of heavy stuff today.
What's the hope?
Right? All this stuff's going on.
What's the hope?
Verse 4. God is the hope.
God loves us immensely, more than we can imagine.
He's the hope.
The things of God are the hope.
And the things of God are what are going to turn things around.

You know, we were talking about 1 John, and I want to go to 1 John 2 and just read this, because I think this speaks to what some of the callers were hitting on and what you were just hitting on, Henry.
It's verse 9 through 11. It says, The one who says he is in the light but hates his brother is in the darkness until now.
The one who loves his brother remains in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.
But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness, walks in the darkness, and doesn't know where he's going because the darkness has bled.
So I leave those words with anyone out there in wondering what we're called to do versus what we end up doing in this world when we, as you point out, get influenced by the things that are of this world.
They are temporal.
Remember, the things that are not of this world are eternal, and that's something we need to focus on and build our treasure in heaven where it matters.
