	This is Jim Fetzer, your host on The Raw Deal, in particular, the Fearsome Four Wednesday broadcast, where I'm joined by Russ Winter, Joaquin Agobian, and Victor Hugo-Vaca to address the issues of our day.
	I want to begin with a little introduction of a couple of the latest developments.
	We have beat B.B. and Biden closer to consensus on attacking Iran.
	This, of course, would be a terrible development.
	A report, based upon phone calls, cites U.S. and Israeli officials that the U.S. has accepted Israel is going to launch a major attack on Iran soon and is only concerned that striking certain types of targets would dramatically escalate things.
	Those would be the Iranian oil fields and their nuclear facilities.
	Netanyahu convened his security cabinet to brief them on the situation and is expected to get approval.
	For him and Israeli Defense Minister Galat have set a timetable for the Israeli attack.
	Meanwhile, the Pentagon has confirmed the deployment of U.S. troops to Israel.
	Netanyahu is as close as he's ever been to his ultimate wish, making the U.S. fight Iran on Israel's behalf.
	The Pentagon confirmed Sunday and authorized the deployment of an advanced anti-missile system in around a hundred U.S. troops to Israel as the Netanyahu government prepares to attack Iran.
	Major General Pat Ryder, press secretary for the Department of Defense, said that at President Biden's direction, the Pentagon had approved the deployment of a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense Thad battery and associated crew to Israel Help bolster Israel's air defense system.
	Iran, of course, fired roughly two hundred ballistic missiles at Israel on October 1st in response to the assassination of Hezbollah's leader and Abbas political chief.
	According to this article, most of the Iranian missiles were shot down.
	However, it appears that, in fact, they had a 90% success rate, including Mossad headquarters, where they killed anywhere from 31 minimally to 100 Mossad officers, even including potentially the Israeli Minister of Defense.
	Israel warned of a crushing response should this come to pass.
	Meanwhile, Scott Ritter talks about what's going on here.
	Welcome to another show.
	It's your host.
	I thought that Netanyahu might be playing a game of putting pressure on the Biden administration to get as many concessions out of the Biden administration as possible.
	Following through on, you know, his gambit back in July to come to the United States, talk to the United States Congress, wrap himself in the American flag.
	And the Biden administration was putting a pretty, you know, substantial package on the table, basically saying, the sky's the limit on military equipment.
	You'll never want.
	And we will back you, you know, till hell freezes over diplomatically.
	You'll never have to worry about Anything out of the United Nations and America will seek to quash anything that happens in the International Court of Justice, International Criminal Court.
	You know, we've got your back.
	Just don't strike Iran.
	I think basically what we're saying is don't strike the critical nuclear sites or oil sites in Iran.
	Somehow, you know, we keep saying it's okay for proportional because here's the problem.
	We don't think Iran's going to follow through.
	We think that if Israel does a proportional response, that somehow we'll be able to convince Iran to do a proportional response to the proportional response and manage the escalation ladder.
	Because our goal is to, our goal being the United States, the Biden administration, is to prevent A major global crisis in the lead-up to a critical national election, where the legacy of the Biden administration is on the ballot.
	Kamala Harris is to be the successor of the Biden presidency.
	One would think that the Biden administration wants her to win, and so that they are going to do that which is necessary to prevent The kind of crises that could derail the Harris election.
	One of the big crises that could do that would be a global economic meltdown triggered by energy insecurities, triggered by a regional conflict that put energy production facilities in the entire Middle East at risk.
	Iran has said that if its oil production sites are hit, it will take out the oil production sites of all the Middle East oil producing countries.
	That's that.
	They've also said that if you strike our nuclear facilities, this is an existential thing.
	And here's the story that I think most people are missing right now.
	Iran has said that if Israel attacks it, Iran is going to hit Israel with 1,000 missiles, 2,000 missiles.
	And they're going to take out over $100 billion of pre-designated infrastructure targets, which they've already identified.
	Basically, Iran is going to turn out the lights permanently in Israel, prevent Israel from having fresh running water, disrupt communications, energy distribution, energy production.
	Israel will be returned to the Stone Age.
	That's Iran's promise.
	Somehow Israel and the United States believe Iran is bluffing because that represents an existential threat to Israel.
	And Israel's existential response is the Samson option, is nuclear weapons.
	The other thing is when people talk about striking nuclear facilities, understand that the other thing Iran has said is that if you do this, we're going nuclear.
	And they mean it.
	In fact, I think the big news here is that we've seen since May of this year, three major statements made by very senior people within the Iranian government that suggest, or do more than suggest, state that the fatwa that is currently in place that prohibits Iran from developing weapons of mass destruction,
	including nuclear weapons, because it's inconsistent with the teachings of Islam, that fatwa could be changed if Islam itself is placed under threat, and Iran is an Islamic Republic.
	the rule of the senior jurisprudence is the methodology that they have embraced.
	It's a theocracy.
	And Israel's attacking it, attacking nuclear infrastructure is deemed as an attack against the existential survival of the Islamic Republic.
	And therefore, this footfall would be reversed.
	Now, if you study declaratory policy, and that's basically what this is, this is, you know, statements made by government officials that have the effect of saying, this is our policy, void of, in lieu of any official document being published.
	You don't make declaratory policy in a vacuum.
	It's usually accompanied by actions that give teeth to this policy.
	And so if Iran is going to say that the fatwa is going to be reversed, and if that's going to have any meaning, that means Iran needs to be on the cusp of being able to produce a nuclear weapon.
	The first statement made in this regard was made in May.
	By a former Iranian foreign minister under Khatami, who is now a member of the Expediency Discernment Council, which is a very senior policy advisory committee mandated by constitution, advises the supreme leader on critical issues.
	And this former foreign minister said that, you know, Iran will reconsider its nuclear policy, this fatwa could be reversed.
	Later on, I think last month, a very senior member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Command said the same thing.
	He basically said, you know, we will make nuclear weapons, that this fatwa will be reversed.
	Now you have the Iranian parliament actually saying, reverse the fatwa, and we must make nuclear weapons if Israel strikes us.
	All of this is linked because none of this happens without the supreme leader giving his blessing.
	You do not get to speak on behalf of the supreme leader in Iran.
	You don't get to question his fatwas, suggest they be changed publicly.
	So for these people to speak, a decision has been made, which means Iran has already had this conversation and the conversation, the decision has been made.
	If Iran is going to produce nuclear weapons, they can't do it in a manner which requires long lead time.
	It has to be able to be acted upon instantly, which means they front-loaded the system.
	That means that Iran has produced a nuclear device minus the fissile core.
	Now, they don't have.
	I know there's questions.
	People say, what about that nuclear weapons test that took place in Iran?
	I was going to ask you about that, yeah.
	I don't think it's a nuclear weapons test for a number of reasons.
	One, the depth of the explosion exceeds by order of magnitude the depth that you normally have these underground tests.
	Normally, you'll do it at 600, 800, maybe a kilometer down.
	This was, I think, what, 7.7 kilometers down or 7.7 miles down.
	It was far deeper.
	Logistics of that to dig that borehole size enough to create the cavern has to be of specific size dimensions you want to put you know if you're going to do a test that you need to test things that means you have to get the instruments down there how do you get instruments down there and do this and how do you do all that with it being detect without it being detected so I you know I don't think so.
	Plus, the biggest problem is the diversion of the enriched uranium material.
	Right now, Iran has a significant stockpile of uranium hexafluoride, which is the feedstock to the centrifuges that enrich uranium.
	They have a significant stockpile of it enriched to 60%.
	The IAEA a while back said that this is enough for three to five bombs.
	There might even be more material now because Iran hasn't stopped the production of this.
	Iran has specially configured centrifuges that can turn that 60% into 96 to 98% in a very short period of time.
	These are modern centrifuges, highly efficient, and it will be done almost instantly.
	And Iran, because they are producing uranium metal, they turn the enriched 60% into uranium metal.
	They make metal plates, which is the fuel for the Tehran Research Reactor.
	So they can convert this into metal very easily.
	And once you convert uranium into metal, The uranium's are pretty smart with calculations.
	You can do very simple calculations on how much uranium of a certain enrichment is required to go critical.
	You do the calculations of a gun design.
	Gun design is basically you take a chunk of uranium, you remove a pit, and you fire it like a gun.
	Boom!
	Into it, causes it to go critical, and then you can go fission.
	That was basically the bomb that was used.
	I think it was the Little Boy bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima.
	It was a gun-designed, uranium gun-designed weapon, achieved 15 kilotons.
	And maybe the Iranians will be able to get, you know, 20, 25 kilotons out of a gun design.
	But they can take a gun design, put it on a warhead, and deliver that warhead to Israel.
	Let me say there's more to that.
	I wanted to play as much as I have because it's very clear Iran now has nukes.
	And that, of course, changes the equation in the Middle East substantially.
	Trump himself has talked about going after the good stuff.
	They specifically designed this bunker buster nuke to attack Iran in its deep underground facilities in the mountain.
	And he's been enthusiastic about it.
	I think it would lead to catastrophe.
	Joaquin, I first want your thoughts about these developments and any more recent.
	Yeah, I think that it's been headed this way for a long time.
	I think that the nuclear—I knew Iran had nuclear power even several months ago.
	They've been holding back remarkably, just as Russia has held back with Ukraine remarkably.
	But we're reaching the point where something's going to give.
	And that give, I'm afraid, is going to be World War III in a kinetic design.
	And of course, we all know that, you know, they've been predicting this for a long time.
	It's Freemasonry and Zionists and, you know, so, yeah, it's a very difficult situation and I'm not sure that we're not going to see nukes even, you know, or some other Basic directed energy weapon.
	I think the big guns are going to be brought out with this war.
	And there's going to be a lot of death, I'm afraid.
	I think you're right.
	The relative size of the country gives Iran a huge advantage.
	It's 78 times larger than Israel, which is a little postage-sized country.
	A couple of nukes do enormous damage to the most of Israel.
	A couple of nukes hardly going to phase Iran.
	Russ, Russ, your thoughts about these developments?
	I mean, I heard another presentation by Scott Ritter where he pointed out how well-defended Iran is with their Su-35 with Russian pilots, and the S-4000, the Yak-130, the difficulty of flyover, because most of the interdicting countries between Israel, where Israelis could attack from, to Iran, or unfriendly airspace.
	So how do they even pull off an attack over a large country like this?
	You know, you can't really pinpoint.
	They probably have got I mean, they could hit them.
	They could do a few hits, but I'll tell you the truth, I think Israel has a completely different strategy.
	I'll tell you what it is.
	They're just going to revert back to what they do best, genociding civilians.
	And they've already alerted there's 400,000 Palestinians in North Gaza.
	And they've already laid out a plan that they're going to put them on the move again.
	And there's hardly any place for them to go.
	Winter is approaching.
	You know, there's really nowhere to move 400,000 people.
	And then they say, well, if you're still in North Gaza, you know, you're considered an enemy combatant.
	So the people that stay will just be genocided.
	And then that's right in the face of Iran and all the countries in the Middle East, like Turkey, It's just like, you know, what are you going to do now?
	What's your plan now, Turkey?
	What's your plan now, Iran?
	We're upping the ante on our genocide policy.
	And it really makes the United States look bad because the United States has no control over Israel.
	Yeah, those are excellent points.
	Victor Hugo, we even have a U.S. striker with a team of eight taken out and cursed.
	In other words, in Russia, you have American soldiers in a combat vehicle taken out.
	We've now got this THAAD system being sent to defend Israel.
	I don't see how the United States escapes entanglement.
	We're already there.
	Your thoughts?
	The United States couldn't even beat Yemen.
	They had to retreat with their tail between their legs.
	So that's what the reality of the situation is as far as the US military and naval capabilities goes.
	Israel has already lost most of its manufacturing.
	Nobody's investing in Israel right now.
	The tourist industry in Israel is dead.
	Most of the people who can get out of Israel have already gotten out.
	They've moved to New Jerusalem in the Ukraine, which was the plan.
	They've moved to Romania.
	They've moved to the United States of Israel, Boca Raton, and other parts of the USA. Israel, for all practical purposes, is wanting to be destroyed because they want the temple destroyed so that they can rebuild the third temple and bring back the Antichrist.
	Their backup plan is to, again, go to the New Jerusalem in the Ukraine and then We're good to go.
	The Samson plan is attacking the United States and attacking the EU. It's a suicide plan.
	That's what the Samson option is.
	So nobody's really talking about that.
	But two good nukes strategically placed inside Israel would send Israel back to the Stone Ages, and that'll leave Israel without anything further to do.
	So really, all you need is two nukes.
	And it looks like it's about to happen.
	As far as World War III goes, I don't think the United States and Israel are going to be able to take on India, China, Russia, the Middle East.
	Pretty much the entire world has turned against the U.S. and Israel.
	So I think the sleeper cells are going to be set off in the United States.
	There may not be an election.
	I think all this stuff is going to happen before the election because they can't afford it right now.
	Kamala Harris, if you believe the polls, I mean, she can't win.
	And if Trump wins, he's a Zionist, so he's going to want to go in.
	This thing is heading off the rails.
	They want to destroy Israel at this point, and I think it's going to happen.
	It's just a matter of time.
	Yeah, another region, Patagonia and Argentina, where many Israelis are fleeing Joaquin.
	I mean, the U.S. foreign policy has been so stupid, and if it weren't the fact that our key figures in the cabinet, like Lincoln, are Zionist Jews, I don't think we'd be in this situation at all.
	Your thoughts?
	Any reasonable human being would not have us, the United States, in this situation.
	Because just as Israel is basically conducting their behavior suicidally, so is the United States as its backup, no matter what.
	Accomplice in this genocide and World War III. They're all being dragged in.
	My view is that it isn't about countries.
	It's about the purse string controllers from City of London.
	We know who they are.
	They've been in control for centuries.
	They want war.
	They want the population, and that's what they're going to get.
	I mean, that's where it's going.
	But one interesting point here is, you notice how everybody's pretty much...
	Zelensky's victory plan, that's not going to go anywhere.
	Everybody's abandoning Zelensky now.
	Even Germany said, no more weapons.
	Nope.
	So...
	Immediately, immediately, right on cue, step up the Middle East front, because that's where things are happening now.
	You know, it always goes down like this, you know, where they can't have peace.
	That's the thing.
	They will not allow peace.
	99.9% of the world wants peace, but because there's a handful in control, we won't have peace.
	That's the way it is.
	Russ, Russ.
	We've been talking about this for a while, that they're running out of weapons, running out of interceptors.
	Financial Times is even covering it.
	I mean, even the mainstream media has got stories out where Israel doesn't have enough interceptors to hold off any kind of serious attack from Hezbollah.
	I mean, Hezbollah just dropped a...
	Drone on a mess hall of the Golina Brigade and a lot of casualties, a big mass casualty event.
	So I think when Trump made that little statement a couple weeks ago, which we covered on our show...
	Which we covered.
	I don't think anybody else did, but we covered it.
	That was a warning even from Dementia Joe that even he knows they don't have any weapons to give Israel anymore.
	And then now the Financial Times is reporting on it.
	That's not a small matter.
	And of course, if we don't have any more weapons for Israel, we don't have any more weapons for Ukraine either.
	In fact, even high military...
	Or for America.
	I'm not going to defend the state for crying out loud if it came to it, Richter Hugo.
	Then they're going to turn to the weather weapons, to the directed energy weapons.
	They're going to start ramping up all the weaponry that they haven't mentioned, that they've been keeping top secret, that they've been looking to use when they've never had this before.
	The really ugly stuff.
	Yeah, yeah.
	They've given all the old stuff to the Ukraine, to Israel, and now get ready for what they've been practicing on the Americans.
	The bioweapons, the directed energy weapons in Lahaina, Hawaii.
	The weather warfare that they did in North Carolina and in Florida.
	So yeah, we're going to see a whole other type of kinetic warfare that's going to be unlike anything that humanity has experienced.
	Thanks to the U.S. taxpayer.
	All financed by the U.S. taxpayer.
	Not only did we have Helene and Milton, but now Nadine is gearing up.
	It looks as though they want to so savage Florida and other states that they have to postpone the election because they couldn't participate.
	Joaquin, is that the plan?
	I think it is.
	I've been saying for over a year, I don't think we're even going to have an election.
	They want the same power structure that's in place now to remain in place, and they don't want any change.
	And if they declare a national emergency and cancel the election, then it's all basically governance by secrecy.
	We won't even know who the hell's making what decision.
	Of course, we haven't known for a long time anyway, but...
	It'll become even more covert and unknown.
	So, yeah, I mean, I think that's what they're stepping up to.
	It's going to be, I think, prior to the election, there's going to be a major false flag.
	I think it's going to probably be a domestic false flag.
	And I think that those sleeper cells, I think they're going to unleash them.
	Something's going to happen.
	Something big.
	It's basically echoed by both mainstream and alt news.
	They're both basically all saying this in different ways.
	I have reports that there are a lot of militia types headed into North Carolina that FEMA has overplayed its hand.
	We recognize FEMA as out to kill Americans, not save them.

	As Scott Ritter said in an interview with Judge Napolitano, the world will never be the same.
	What happened a year ago today has forever changed the world.
	Ritter is absolutely right.
	As Scott also said in the interview, the world now sees Israel as a genocidal apartheid state it has always been.
	I truly pray for his safety.
	Without a doubt, Scott is among the most courageously truthful spokesmen on the national stage today.
	There's no one in America with more knowledge of the military and geopolitical affairs of the Middle East, especially Israel, than Scott Britter.
	But along with his vast knowledge and experience, he possesses lion-like courage to tell the truth about the Zionist state.
	Remember, Ritter was once a solid supporter of Israel as was I. Scott's eyes were open to the truth of the Zionist Israel via different circumstances than mine, but only God can remove the scales of blindness from a man's heart, especially the strong delusion, 2 Thessalonians 2.11, of Zionist Israel.
	So I rejoice in Scott's clear vision of truth regarding the Zionist state by whatever means it came.
	What's got remorded with the judges must view.

	Since 2008, you've heard me talk about we're leaving their product.

	How has the landscape in the Middle East changed in the past 365 days?
	The world will never be the same.
	What happened a year ago today has forever changed the world.
	It's larger than simply Hamas versus Israel.
	This is about part of the global realignment.
	I mean, let's be honest.
	The Israeli-American relationship is an unnatural relationship when it comes to the geopolitical balance.
	It's at odds with the natural You know, sense of balance that exists in the Middle East.
	Israel is, I was going to say, an abomination, which it is, but it's also a cancer.
	It's a cancerous tumor attached to the Middle East that disrupts the natural functioning of everything, and it's sustained by its relationship with America.
	What Hamas did on October 7th, 2023, is begin the process of Causing the entire world to recognize Israel for what it was.
	Up until on October 6, 2023, the world was still behaving as if Israel was part of the normal It's not.
	The world was behaving as if Israel could be treated as part of this global economic entity.
	Joe Biden, in the summer of 2023, had promoted Israel as being a core element of what he called the India-Middle East-European Economic Corridor.
	Israel was getting ready to normalize relations with Saudi Arabia, to begin this process of regional normalization that had Israel serving as the centerpiece of this, with no talk whatsoever of a Palestinian statehood, no consideration of the Palestinians.
	It was an Israeli-centric version of the Middle East, Which is part and part of an American-centric vision of the world.
	Today, that's done.
	In two weeks, there's going to be a meeting in Kazan, Russia with the BRICS that's going to have more relevance today because of what was exposed through Hamas' attack.
	The world now sees Israel as the genocidal apartheid state that it has always been, but has somehow fooled us all into believing didn't exist.
	And they see America as a nation that has totally lost touch with You know, its founding principles, life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness.
	If that's truly what America stands for, statements written by Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence, then why do we support a nation that commits genocide, that's an apartheid state, that thinks it's okay to kill women and children by the thousands as part of collective punishment and total disregard for international law?
	We see the world standing up to Israel now for the first time and we see Israel no longer being this nation with an invincible army that has This deterrence that everybody fears.
	Iran has put that to rest.
	Israel now fears Iran.
	There's only one nation right now in the Middle East that can destroy the other nation, and that's Iran can destroy Israel with the next missile attack.
	Israel cannot destroy Iran, even if they use nuclear weapons.
	This is a fundamental shift away from what it was.
	The world will never be the same.
	The world will never be the same toward Israel.
	Will other countries in the world besides Iran resist Israel in such a way as to retard or arrest its slaughter of innocents in Gaza and in Lebanon?
	I mean, we see this gradual transformation, transition in the United Nations.
	For instance, Palestine has now been invited in as a member.
	Nations are talking about the recognition of Palestine.
	People are talking about the absolute necessity of a Palestinian state.
	And you see nations like Turkey and others increasing the strictness of their rhetoric when it comes to Israel.
	I don't think we're going to see nations aligning themselves violently against Israel like Iran is doing.
	That's, first of all, counterproductive and it's unnecessary.
	Iran has fulfilled that goal.
	What nations are doing now is calling out Israel for the, again, abomination that it is, this apartheid genocidal state That is becoming how the world recognizes Israel.
	Not as this freedom-loving bastion of democracy, but this horrific regime that mirrors the actions and the ideology of Nazi Germany.
	I mean, it was Nazi ideology that led to the Holocaust, that led to the creation of Israel.
	Now the Israelis have come full circle or behaving in a manner that's similar.
	It's not me saying this.
	This is Holocaust survivors who are coming out saying that they condemn Israel for becoming that which They survived.
	This is what's going to undo Israel.
	The fact that the world is seeing Israel for what it is.
	A cancerous tumor that has to be excised.
	You can't allow cancer to continue to survive in the human body.
	It must be excised.
	And this is what's going to happen to Israel.
	It won't be violent.
	I believe Israel will probably die from self-immolation.
	It'll collapse from within.
	Israel has become Zionism has become a notion that's no longer compatible with civilized society, and you're going to see people turning their back on Israel, and you're going to start to see Israelis flee Israel.
	And at some point in time, when a sufficient number of Israelis have fled Israel, it'll become demographically impossible to sustain, and that will be the end of Israel.
	That's the future of Israel.

	Well, I think he pointed it out.
	It's a cancer.
	The synagogue of Satan, the Talmud, the Zohar, the Jews who have taken over that religion, They're parasites.
	So he stated what's going to happen is the 110th pogrom is happening.
	Like I said earlier, the Jews that are in Israel have already fled to Romania, to the Ukraine, to Australia, to the United States.
	But their mentality, their psychosis, because these people have inbreeding, so there's a higher number of them that have schizophrenia.

	So these people, they're My core principle is to eliminate those that they see as cattle.

	So what they do is they go and they hide and they assimilate like parasites.
	So they may pretend that they're Americans, but they're not really Americans.

	They take over the major cabinet positions in the White House.
	They take over the justice system.

	My concern as a veteran American refugee is I don't have a country to go back to because the United States right now is a Talmudic A terrorist state where the truth has been outlawed.

	Professor Raersheimer, who co-authored the book on the Israeli lobby, which was absolutely sensational at the time, has given a recent presentation reviewing the bidding, an update as it were.
	Let's listen to a part of it.
	I would like to focus my talk on what has transpired regarding the Israel lobby and the U.S.-Israeli relationship in the 10 years since Steve Walt and I wrote the Israel lobby and U.S. foreign policy.
	My talk's comprised of four parts.
	I'll begin by briefly restating the core arguments in our book.
	I'll then describe four major changes that have taken place regarding the lobby and the US-Israeli relationship over the past decade.
	I will then describe what has not changed and conclude by speculating about the future.
	The central argument in the book is that the United States has a special relationship with Israel that has no parallel in modern history, and it is almost wholly due to the lobby.
	What makes Israel's relationship with the United States extraordinary is not simply the fact that Israel has received more foreign aid than any other country, Or that Washington almost always backs Israel diplomatically.
	What makes it truly special is that the aid is given unconditionally.
	In other words, Israel gets this aid even when it does things that the United States opposes, like building settlements in the West Bank.
	This discussion raises the obvious question, why does the United States give Israel so much aid and without any conditions?
	Israel's supporters sometimes argue that it is because Israel is a vital strategic asset.
	This is not a serious argument.
	In fact, giving Israel nearly unconditional support is one of the reasons we have a terrorism problem.
	Others argue that there's a moral rationale for the special relationship.
	Israel is said to be a democracy that shares our values.
	The two countries certainly share some values, but Israel is a Jewish state which clearly privileges its Jewish citizens.
	Non-Jews are second-class citizens in both theory and practice.
	The United States, on the other hand, is a liberal democracy that works hard to treat all of its citizens equally.
	It certainly is not a Christian state that treats non-Christians as second-class citizens.
	Indeed, that kind of discrimination, which is part of Israel's essence, is antithetical to the American way of life.
	Furthermore, Israel's treatment of the Palestinians and the occupied territories is sharply at odds with U.S. values.
	Finally, there's the claim that the American people have such a favorable view of Israel that they demand their politicians back the special relationship.
	This argument, however, is not persuasive.
	If you look at the survey data on how the American public thinks about Israel, as Grant made clear before I spoke, there's no question that Americans have a generally favorable image of Israel, in part because media coverage tends to be favorable, But as poll after poll shows, that support is not especially deep or wide.
	So what explains the special relationship if there is no strategic or moral imperative and if most Americans do not favor it?
	Our answer, of course, is the lobby.
	What exactly is the lobby?
	Steve and I argue It's a loose coalition of individuals and groups who actively work to influence U.S. foreign policy in a pro-Israel direction.
	It's not a centralized organization, and the groups that make up the lobby do not agree on every issue.
	It includes organizations like AIPAC, the Anti-Defamation League, The Conference of Presidents, the Zionist Organization of America, and Christians United for Israel, just to name a few.
	It also includes think tanks like YNAP and the American Enterprise Institute, and publications like the Weekly Standard and Commentary.
	It certainly is not a cabal or a conspiracy that quote-unquote controls U.S. foreign policy.
	Rather, it's a powerful interest group like the NRA, the Farm Lobby, It's a cabal.
	And it operates pretty much the same way those other interest groups do.
	Very importantly, the lobby is not synonymous with Jewish Americans.
	Surveys suggest that about a third of American Jews do not care that much about Israel.
	Others do not support the lobby's positions.
	And some groups that work on Israel's behalf, such as the so-called Christian Zionists, are not Jewish.
	In short, the lobby is defined by its political agenda, not by ethnicity or religion.
	Finally, we argue that the lobby is push policies that are in neither Israel's or America's national interests.
	In particular, we maintain that it would have been much better for both countries if the United States had long ago pressured Israel to stop building settlements and allow for the creation of a viable Palestinian state.
	But this did not happen, and it will not happen, because the lobby makes it impossible for American leaders to use the leverage at their disposal to pressure Israel.
	In essence, that's the story Steve and I tell.
	Let me now switch gears and talk about what has changed regarding Israel and the lobby since the book was first published in 2007.
	I think that there have been four noteworthy changes.
	First, there has been a fundamental change in how Americans think and talk about Israel, the special relationship, and the lobby.
	When we initially wrote our book, there was much ignorance about these subjects, and my sense is that most people who read our book, or who have read our book, thought there was a large element of truth in what we said, but that we had nevertheless exaggerated the lobby's influence.
	There was also a great deal of ignorance in the American body politic about Israeli policies, especially toward the Palestinians, and little understanding of the special relationship.
	This is hardly surprising because one of the lobby's main goals is to prevent an open conversation in the media about Israeli policy, the U.S.-Israeli relationship, and the lobby itself.
	It was successful for a long time.
	But my sense from talking to many people about these matters, and from closely following the public discourse, is that those days are over.
	For example, it's commonplace, even in the mainstream media, to talk about the lobby using just that word.
	And I cannot tell you how many people have said to me that if anything, Steve and I just scratched the surface in our discussion of the lobby's power and influence.
	I might add that there is now more discussion of Israel's policies and actions in the American media And if you read the comments section that follow many newspaper stories, you will see that there are a substantial number of Americans who are critical of Israeli behavior, especially toward the Palestinians.
	And only someone who is blind and deaf would not recognize that the United States is deeply committed to defending Israel's behavior at almost every turn.
	In short, there is much more awareness of these critical issues today than there was a decade ago.
	What's caused this change?
	I think that our original article and the book helped.
	Both attracted an enormous amount of attention.
	Indeed, the lobby book made the New York Times bestseller list and because of the internet, the article on which the book was based was widely read all over the world.
	But I think that ultimately our arguments would not have had much impact were it not for a number of other factors.
	First, the actions of Israel and the lobby over the past decade have done much to substantiate many of the claims we made in the book.
	Just to take one example, consider how Israel and the lobby responded to the Iran nuclear deal.
	Prime Minister Netanyahu went to extraordinary lengths to sabotage the agreement, going so far as to give a speech to a joint session of Congress on March 3rd, 2015, that not only sought to undermine the deal, but was also an indirect attack on President Obama.
	Of course, he was aided by AIPAC, which went all out to defeat the deal.
	This nasty fight between Netanyahu and the lobby on one hand and the Obama administration on the other hand played out in full public view.
	The second factor behind the increased awareness of Israeli policy and the lobby is the internet and social media.
	There are now all sorts of places on the internet one can go to for information about these subjects.
	The website Mondoweiss, which I'm sure everyone in this room knows about, is a case in point.
	It posts a steady stream of stories that reveal important information about Israeli policy and the lobby's activities, not to mention critical assessments of those matters.
	Mondo Weiss, which is now 11 years old, had 8 million visits to its site in 2016.
	Of course, there are other sites that provide valuable information, like the Electronic Intifada, which is run by Ali Abu Neba, and the site for the Israeli magazine Plus 972.
	Another important source of information on the Internet is Haaretz, the liberal Israeli newspaper.
	Which often runs pieces that take a critical perspective on Israel as well as the lobby.
	And in the age of Twitter, important pieces that appear on these sites are immediately spread around the world to huge numbers of people.
	These same pieces are also circulated on email lists that go to hundreds if not thousands of interested readers.
	Not to suggest that he may be minimizing the role of AIPAC, but given that there's an Israeli lobby handler for every member of Congress, I think he may be missing one aspect of the situation.
	Victor Hugo, your thoughts?
	I just want to set the record straight.
	Before the break, it appeared that you guys were stating that I was apologizing for being anti-Semitic.
	If you rewind the tape and you listen to it clearly, I wasn't apologizing for anything.
	Not that I think that apologizing is a weakness.
	I actually think it's a strength.
	If you're wrong and you realize that you're wrong, I think it's important for people to be able to apologize.
	And that's one of the things that's wrong with the world right now, is people see apologies as a weakness.
	What I was saying is that people may assume or think That because of the truth that I'm stating, that I may be anti-Semitic, which is not an apology, it's just that I realized in having named a Jew for as long as I have been naming, That people do automatically assume that I'm anti-Semitic, which I'm not.
	And I'm not anti-Semitic, not because I'm afraid of naming the Jew, but rather because I am educated enough to know that Semitic is a language.
	It's not a race, and it's not a religion, and it has nothing to do with the Jews.
	As a matter of fact, the true anti-Semites And I caution you, if you think that it's cool to be anti-Semitic, the true anti-Semites are those who are condoning the slaughter of the Semites, who are the Palestinians, who are the Lebanese, who are the Syrians, because Semitic is a language.
	And no, I have nothing against the Semitic people.
	These people who call themselves Jews are actually of the synagogue of Satan.
	So what I am is against the synagogue of Satan and those who falsely claim that they're Jews.
	And that's part of what the gentleman was speaking of, is that these people through AIPAC, through lobbies, through the media, they have convoluted words.
	They've created inversions.
	Like even the word racism was made up by a Jew.
	And so even the word racist is not real.
	It's okay to be nationalist and it's okay to stereotype because stereotypes are real and you need to understand stereotypes because it's a fight or flight.
	It's a fear thing.
	You know, you're not going to be stupid if you're a white guy and you're walking past the neighborhood and there's like five or ten black gang members and you don't want to be considered racist so you don't like walk the other way.
	No, it's okay.
	Stereotypes are okay.
	Nationalism is okay.
	Anti-Semitism is not okay, and I'm not an anti-Semite.
	And again, if you understand the word Semitic, it's a language.
	And so the Jews have converted that.
	And I want to make sure that people understand that, because that's what they want.
	They want us to think that.
